Much has been written about the benefits of mentoring for both the mentors and the mentees, as well as the organizations involved. There are a variety of mentoring relationships available to undergraduate business students – peer to peer, faculty to student, graduate student to undergraduate student, and alumni to student. This paper provides a synopsis of alumni to undergraduate student peer mentoring programs at the majority of the top-ranked business schools. Much has been written about how weak the average person's knowledge base is when it comes to financial literacy. Many schools, at both the high school and college level, have responded to this lack of financial literacy by offering a variety of courses and approaches to address the problem. Business schools and employers recognize the value to students of a study abroad experience. Many times, such experiences include an internship as well. While there is a good deal of research on the benefits to students of such experiences, there is not as much written on the benefits to faculty of teaching in a study abroad program. This paper summarizes the benefits to students of both studying and interning abroad. It then describes one business school’s unique study/intern abroad program for freshmen designed to maximize the benefit to students and future employers of such an experience. The paper then examines the value that a faculty member obtains from teaching in such a program and offers tips to maximize the rewards of doing so. Experiential and interdisciplinary approaches to teaching and learning have been shown to be effective methods in helping students to master a wide variety of concepts. Active learning enables students to transform experiences into knowledge while cross-functional methods lead to more comprehensive and integrated knowledge acquisition. This paper provides a detailed look at one school’s development and execution of a team-taught, cross-functional (marketing and management) course that prominently features a team-based live case in collaboration with a variety of local business partners. The paper provides a comprehensive roadmap on how other schools may create a similar course, from the initial planning of the course, to its execution, to student deliverables. The structural and functional analogy between difluoromethylene bisphosphonate (C[F.sub.2]PP) and pyrophosphate (P[P.sub.i]) is examined in a reaction with V(V) in the form of vanadate. The results have shown that P[P.sub.i]'s affinity for a metal ion at neutral pH has decreased by a factor 4-5 when the bridging oxygen atoms is substituted with C[F.sub.2].

The structural and electronic similarities of both the ground state and the transition state (TS) are examined in the framework of the potential energy surfaces of the alkaline methanolysis of [(C[H.sub.3]O).sub.2]P[O.sub.2.sup.-] and [(C[H.sub.3]O).sub.2]V[O.sub.2.sup.-]. The atomic charges of the starting material and the pentavalent dianionic intermediate containing the vanadium(V) and phosphorus central atoms are calculated, which establishes a firm foundation for the design of vanadate-diester-based transition state analogues for nucleic acid synthesis and hydrolysis.

The use of case studies is an effective tool for not only teaching business concepts, but developing a wide range of professional skills as well. Case studies offer students the opportunity to enhance their presentation, writing, teaming, critical thinking, and time management skills. When used as part of a case competition, the case study also offers the opportunity for networking with business executives. This paper provides a detailed look at one school's development and execution of a mandatory junior year case competition that plays a key role in developing such skills. First impressions play a key role in setting the expectations for a student's course of study. As such, the first business course that students take is critical in establishing high expectations for the students and for the college. While some schools may use Introduction to Accounting as its first course, other schools may develop a separate Introduction to Business (I2B) type of course. Many colleges have responded to the demand for non-business students to have some business education by offering a variety of programs to meet this need. These programs vary along several dimensions, such as the length of the program, whether college credits are earned, and to whom the program is targeted. Despite the number of these programs that now exist little has been written about them. This paper takes an in-depth look at one such program - Villanova University's Summer Business Institute, and provides details on the structure, benefits, curriculum, and the admissions and marketing processes that have contributed to its success. The article focuses on a U.S Court of Appeals case that addressed an appeal made by environmental and peace organization Greenpeace USA for preliminary injunction by U.S District Court for the District of Alaska. Topics discussed include preliminary injunction granted to oil companies such as Shell Offshore Inc. and Shell Gulf of Mexico Inc., preliminary injunction that prevented Greenpeace USA from committing unlawful and tortious acts against Shell vessels and acts of trespassing on vessels.

This chapter highlights the development of the 21st century teacher leader through experiential learning environment of the Transition To Teaching Lab School (TTT), a California State University Dominguez Hills alternative route to certification program in partnership with Cal State Teach and several high-need school district representing urban and rural areas across the state of California.
