This article interrogates Shona novelists’ perspectives vis-a-vis business management as practiced by indigenous entrepreneurs and managers. Particular attention is on Lwanda’s
Zvichakuwanawo (Crime Will Catch up with You), Chitsike’sWakandigona Wena (You Outwitted Me) and Nyawaranda’sBarika Remashefu (The Bosses’ Polygamy). The argument averred in this article is that these selected narratives are not only fractured but also part and parcel of the mythopoeia about Africa and Africans. The Black or indigenous business owner and manager is emblematically cast in lurid images, devoid of business acumen and as brutes incapable of administrating and managing business ventures successfully. Such negative stereotypes of traducing and excoriating black businessmen and managers as congenital failures through novelistic discourses, typify pro-imperialist prejudices and misrepresentations that generations of Europeans have created against the Black civilization. Guided and informed by Afrocentricity, we established that the selected novels, though they address a pertinent issue, are materials of questionable integrity with a vast potential for disempowering society through sustaining and fostering anti-life pessimism, literary deception anddis-agency in the readership. Ethics is a discipline that has broken the limits of its field of study, which is related to having the right behavior towards other people, but also to respect nature and life. This has been extended to the accounting and organizational management of companies. This paper proposes a sentiment analysis method based on the NeutroGroup obtained from offuninorms defined by the combining functions in Prospector. The advantage of the proposed method is that in addition to "like" and "dislike", we obtain a result of indeterminacy that can be due either to neutrality or to a contradiction in the short informal writing. The method is illustrated with an example. The application of neutrosophy in sentiment analysis is well -known since neutrality is included in the analysis. However, for the first time, to the authors' knowledge, the indeterminacy of two different types is modeled. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Currently, there is still a great inequality between the number of companies managed by women and men. There are numerous barriers for women to be able to opt for management positions and it is necessary to make these obstacles visible. However, cooperatives, because of their values and principles, although they are no strangers to this situation, do make some differences. The aim of this paper is to analyse whether gender in the management of cooperatives influences their economic-financial results. For this purpose, a sample of 240 Valencian cooperatives active during the period 2008-2021 was taken, 191 led by men and 49 led by women, available in the SABI database, studying whether there are significant differences in the number of employees, income, results, solvency and indebtedness between the two groups. In general, there are no significant differences in the results obtained in cooperatives managed by women and men, although there are differences in the size and type of activity carried out by both groups in their enterprises. The results show that, although the cooperatives are not unrelated to the lower percentage of cooperatives managed by women than by men with respect to other types of companies, they do show a lower influence of gender on the results, indicating that these depend on other factors, such as the type of activity carried out and the size of the cooperative. - Abstract
Work-integrated learning (WIL) plays a crucial role in introducing students to work environments to enhance employability skills and career readiness. These opportunities are made possible through university-workplace partnerships. Despite the numerous benefits associated with such partnerships, effective initiation and management of partnerships remains a challenge. In this scoping review, 54 empirical studies published between 2000 and 2022 are examined to explore the factors that contribute to successful university-workplace partnerships in WIL. Findings reveal that literature has extensively explored the benefits and challenges of WIL partnerships, with fewer studies investigating the motivations of industry partners and factors that sustain partnerships to enhance WIL experiences. The review identifies gaps in the current literature, paving the way for further research on sustainable university-workplace partnerships. Given the growing attention and participation in WIL across the globe, it is vital that university-workplace partnerships are fostered and strengthened to unleash the full potential of the next generation workforce. INDUSTRIAL management ,CONSCIOUSNESS raising ,CONTRACTION operators ,SOCIAL impact ,PHYSICAL distribution of goods - Abstract
Purpose: The paper discusses the application of outsourcing in logistics in companies operating online. Companies operating in the global market are constantly seeking new solutions that will enable them to gain and maintain a competitive advantage. One of the solutions used to increase the efficiency of an organisation is outsourcing. The main objective is to identify the advantages and disadvantages of outsourcing in the online market. The application of outsourcing tools in business activities, such as using external companies for the distribution of goods, influences the increase in the competitiveness of companies in the online market through the rapid delivery of products. The use of external logistics operators increases the capacity of companies and helps them strengthen their competitive position in the market. Design/methodology/approach: The objective of the paper was achieved through the theoretical and empirical analysis of the research presented. The paper presents the results of research into online sales behaviour and identifies the advantages and disadvantages of outsourcing. The optimal solution to satisfy customer needs is the use of outsourcing, which is characterised by the high quality of services offered by external entities supporting the operation of companies. Findings: Nowadays, an organisation's success factor is increasingly the ability to manage relationships with customers and suppliers, which refers to both the level of customer service and cooperation with contractors. Many companies, including those operating online, are considering using special logistics outsourcing, the aim of which is to reduce costs and limit unnecessary investments. For example, using courier companies is a good practice of modern companies. This means they do not need to have their own transport, which often generates considerable costs. Research limitations/implications: The topic discussed in the paper is very important in the modern context due to the significant development of online sales. To meet public expectations, cooperation with suppliers is a must. Companies, by signing contracts with external operators, can ensure the quick delivery of shipments without the need to have their own transport. During the research, certain limitations were observed in accessing information, both domestic and international, which could have facilitated a more thorough analysis. Another limitation is finding a larger group of respondents willing to participate in the research. Despite these limitations, the author plans to continue research in this area. Practical implications: Outsourcing is currently used in most industries, regardless of their specifics, which gives this tool a universal character. Companies deciding to use outsourcing should be aware that its implementation requires the execution of many complex actions and detailed analyses, often preceded by significant changes in the organisation's operations. Nowadays, cooperation with contractors is one of the most important factors determining the success of an organisation. Social implications: The paper raises public awareness regarding the use of outsourcing in logistics. The described issues enable the audience to seek new solutions in the activities of various industries. Despite the widespread use of outsourcing, many relationships based on this type of cooperation do not end in success. Originality/value: The added value of the article is to increase the efficiency of companies through the introduction of outsourcing. The issues presented make it possible to increase competitive advantage in a dynamic market. Many companies are considering the use of special logistics outsourcing to reduce costs and unnecessary investments. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

BLACK swan theory ,COVID-19 pandemic ,CRISIS management ,CHANGE management ,INDUSTRIAL management - Abstract
This paper aims to explore the extent to which digitalization can be utilized as a change management tool during black swan events. This article explores how digitalization can help businesses adapt to black swan events like the COVID-19 pandemic and examines the correlation between digitalization growth rates, income, and brand strength in 30 countries with varying viral threats from 2018 to 2021. This paper compares digitalization's impact on change management success in two different contexts. The first context is regular business events that occurred pre-pandemic, as measured by revenue stability and brand strength. The second context is the COVID-19 pandemic and crisis, considered a black swan event. The paper explains the difference in impact and how digitalization can contribute to change management success in both contexts. Our approach to crisis management considers the Black Swan Theory and change management offers a unique and valuable perspective. We found that digitalization can enhance business resilience during the pandemic, although we caution that the benefits of digitalization may be limited to the short term due to its flexibility. Due to consideration of the COVID-19 crisis as a black swan type, this paper clarified the accessibility of digitalization as a measure of crisis management and the scale of the anti-crisis effect of digitalization as a tool of flexibility and adaptation to the black swan. The expansion of the global agricultural sector has brought about significant environmental challenges, including greenhouse gas emissions, land degradation, and biodiversity loss. This study explores the nexus between fertilizer use and sustainability, framed within the circular economy principles, from a business management perspective. The primary objective is to map the current research landscape, identify key thematic areas, and suggest avenues for future research. A systematic literature review of 3026 articles from Scopus and Web of Science was conducted, with a bibliometric analysis revealing trends and thematic clusters. Five main thematic groups emerged: (i) greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) in agriculture, emphasizing the importance of mitigation strategies; (ii) sustainable agriculture and fertilizers, focusing on sustainable agricultural practices; (iii) waste-derived fertilizers, underscoring the responsible reuse of animal waste; (iv) agricultural production and productivity, highlighting efficient farming practices; and (v) environmental impact and conservation, assessing ecological impacts. From these, 50 articles were selected and classified according to sustainability dimensions and their integration with circular business models. The analysis of the Triple Bottom Line demonstrated a dominant environmental focus (77.1%), while economic and social dimensions still need to be explored. Circular economy practices were prevalent, remarkably “Regenerate” and “Optimize” from the ReSOLVE framework. Future research should focus on practical implementations, circular business model development, and comprehensive impact assessments. These findings offer crucial insights for advancing sustainable agricultural practices and minimizing the environmental footprint of fertilizer production and use.

AbstractAmidst uncertain and disruptive environments, the significance of Organizational Resilience and Sustainability cannot be overstated, as they are crucial for businesses to thrive. By integrating sustainability and resilience practices into strategies, organizations can better navigate disruptive environments and position themselves for sustainable success. The aim of conducting a bibliometric study on organizational sustainability and resilience is to gather knowledge of the literature already written in these fields and spot trends, patterns, and research gaps. The present study sheds light on the four Organizational Resilience pillars: Preparedness, Responsiveness, Adaptability, and Learning. These pillars are crucial in enhancing an organization’s ability to withstand and recover from disruptive events. Using the Scopus Database, a comprehensive analysis was conducted on 120 documents that satisfied the inclusion criteria and were published between 2010 and 2022. Descriptive Statistical Analysis was employed to examine and comprehend the extent to which previous research has explored organizational resilience and sustainability within Business Management. The analysis focused on factors such as production productivity, country productivity, affiliation productivity, author productivity, and the most cited document.

This paper aims to examine the contribution of emotional intelligence to employee performance enhancement in the public sector using evidence from Mersa Town, Amhara Region, Ethiopia. 200 respondents’ response was taken for this survey to meet its objective. An explanatory research design and a quantitative approach were applied. By employing stratified sampling, the employees were grouped based on their sector of expertise. The research employed primary data and a multiple linear regression model for analysis. The study’s findings showed that self-awareness, self-management, social-awareness, and relationship management, that is, all emotional intelligence proxies, have a significant positive effect on employees’ performance enhancement in the public sector. As a result, this study suggested that the public sector should do a better job of promoting self-awareness and ensuring emotions are effectively managed in the workplace to have strong self-management. The public sector also needs to come up with policies that help employees to become more socially conscious by promoting teamwork, which will help them to become more adaptive at managing relationships. The study’s conclusions have theoretical and practical implications for the creation of focused interventions and regulations meant to improve employee performance through the use of emotional intelligence.

This study examines the influence of Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) on employee performance at the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia, Woldia District. Addressing gaps in previous research, particularly in the Ethiopian banking context, this study explores how various OCB dimensions affect employee performance. Previous studies have often failed to fully capture the range of OCBs that may affect performance, especially within the banking sector. To bridge this gap, the study employed a descriptive causal research design and a quantitative approach, using 228 employees as sample respondents. Stratified sampling was first applied to categorize employees based on their job positions, followed by simple random sampling to select respondents. Data analysis involved correlation and multiple linear regression techniques. The findings revealed that helping behavior, sportsmanship, civic virtue, organizational loyalty, and individual initiative positively and significantly influence employee performance. Based on these results, the study recommends that the bank fosters a culture of collaboration, encourages individual initiative, and recognizes and rewards exemplary citizenship behaviors. These actions would promote a positive work environment, enhancing employee performance and the bank’s overall success. Theoretical implications extend existing knowledge on OCB, while practical implications offer actionable insights for improving organizational culture and employee performance.

The justification for limiting the search to the term "review" lies in the extensive and qualified bibliography of integrated reviews. The articles were selected based on the following criteria: a) open-source availability; b) simultaneous combination of search terms; c) thematic articles on business management; and d) chronology (after 2020). As a result, the main areas for the use of AI in business management are innovation; supply chain management; decision-making; human resources; strategic management; and product management. Furthermore, the possible legal issues that can be faced are lack of accountability; biased decisions; discrimination; non-compliance with digital literacy; violation of privacy; and unfair decisions. Finally, the original contributions of this work are 12 Governance recommendations and 8 Compliance recommendations.

Revolutionary advances in technology have been seen in many industries, with the IIoT being a prime example. The IIoT creates a network of interconnected devices, allowing smooth communication and interoperability in industrial settings. This not only boosts efficiency, productivity, and safety but also provides transformative solutions for various sectors. This research looks into open-source IIoT and edge platforms that are applicable to a range of applications with the aim of finding and developing high-potential solutions. It highlights the effect of open-source IIoT and edge computing platforms on traditional IIoT applications, showing how these platforms make development and deployment processes easier. Popular open-source IIoT platforms include DeviceHive and Thingsboard, while EdgeX Foundry is a key platform for edge computing, allowing IIoT applications to be deployed closer to data sources, thus reducing latency and conserving bandwidth. This study seeks to identify potential future domains for the implementation of IIoT solutions using these open-source platforms. Additionally, each sector is evaluated based on various criteria, such as development requirement analyses, market demand projections, the examination of leading companies and emerging startups in each domain, and the application of the International Patent Classification (IPC) scheme for in-depth sector analysis.

The objective of the study was to evaluate agroindustrial engineering from the perspective of organizational innovation capacity and business competitiveness in Tacna, Peru. The study was conducted between January and October 2024, with a sample of 60 operational assistants from agroindustrial companies. Organizational innovation capacity and business competitiveness were evaluated using a questionnaire for data collection, with the Cronbach's alpha coefficient determining its reliability. Data analysis was performed using SPSS v26 software. The normality of the data was verified using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, and a non-parametric correlation analysis was applied with Spearman's Rho coefficient, considering results significant with p<0.05. The results show that both organizational innovation capacity and business competitiveness do not follow a normal distribution, with significance values of 0.000 for both variables. Additionally, the non-parametric Spearman correlation indicates a strong positive relationship between the two variables (coefficient of 0.916), which is statistically significant. The results highlight a strong relationship between organizational innovation and business competitiveness, supporting the hypothesis that improving innovation directly drives competitiveness, despite the non-normality of the variables. The study concludes that organizational innovation enhances business competitiveness in the agroindustrial sector of Tacna, driving growth, differentiation, and sustainability in globalized markets. This study examines the existence of earnings management by travel agencies operating in Poland at the time of global disease threats over the last decade. To measure earnings management the estimation of total discretionary accruals was used constituting some changes in the working capital. Among the available research methods, hypothesis verification procedures based on panel models have been selected. It is found, that in the times of economic prosperity, the phenomenon of earnings management does not occur as it is not necessary. In tough years, when the actual financial result becomes unsatisfactory, shaping the result is used as a tool for its correction. Interpretation of the results requires caution due to their sensitivity to the adopted research methodology. The MSME sector is expected to become a new source of national economic strength during crises. To achieve this, the government should focus on human resources and management. Limited innovation within SMEs has led to stagnant growth, and financial issues often hinder productivity. One community service project is the Suputra herbal incense SME in Angantaka Village, Abiansemal, located 11.2 km from Universitas Warmadewa. According to Mrs. Ayu, the main challenge is limited business management capabilities. A lack of business management knowledge impedes growth. The partnership program aims to increase sales and improve financial practices through three activities: financial management assistance, production management, and creating a product catalog. The results show structured bookkeeping, reduced errors, enhanced management efficiency, and the development of a product catalog. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: Although gamified sustainable consumption apps (SCAs) have been on the rise, only a few have survived longer than two years. While most existing research focuses on how gamification contributes to engagement and the formation of more sustainable consumption habits, there is little about how their survival is secured. Intervention's Purpose: Twenty-one SCA creators shared their considerations and experiences managing SCAs, providing valuable insights into the field of gamified sustainable consumption and practical insights for their stakeholders. Methods: Ideal-type and narrative analyses of the interviews unraveled some relevant survival strategies and lessons learned. Results: The creators' motivation and background play a role in the app's survival. Their experiences exposed several aspects affecting their gamification strategies and their relevance for the apps, highlighting traps to avoid and opportunities to improve their standing in an increasingly competitive market. Discussion: Most creators shared stories of "learn as you go," presenting how the flexibility to adjust the apps' business models rather than the creators' professional background is a critical success factor. Since their apps represent their understanding of sustainability, SCA creators should find practical and emotional ways to engage their users while considering the objectives of their apps. Conclusion: Awareness of the risks and pitfalls when creating an SCA may not be enough for successfully undertaking this enterprise. The creators should be capable of strategically plan for all the activities that creating and managing an SCA convey even before the app is conceptualized. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
