Purpose: This article aims to analyze entrepreneurs’ perceptions about the contributions of Model C in modeling their social businesses. Originality/value: The study contributes theoretically and empirically when addressing social businesses linked to opportunities and their development challenges by using the Model C tool in its modeling, exploring institutional integration, and allowing a holistic, systemic structure of value creation activities. Design/methodology/approach: The study adopts a qualitative method of a descriptive type based on multiple cases in three Brazilian social businesses. For data collection, an interview script developed from the analysis categories of the Model C framework was applied, as well as the interviewees’ perception of how the tool helps the development of their business model, direct observation, and documentary analysis. The analysis of the results was performed with the aid of the software ATLAS.ti. Findings: Based on the assumption that a social business model mixes several institutional logics, combining social and financial missions in a balanced way, the results show that Model C can structure the business’s organizational capacity and social value. However, it cannot fully quantify the financial value generated by social businesses, leading the social entrepreneur to use complementary financial tools. Social enterprises (SE) have played a prominent role in overcoming social problems in society and supporting sustainable development. In line with global trends, there is a growing interest of business firms, policymakers, and scholars in and engagement with SEs in emerging economies, such as India, as a promising and viable mechanism to address varied, complex, and widespread social development problems. In the wake of the increasing engagement of scholars and businesses, it is crucial to collate, review and synthesise scholarly research to develop a holistic understanding of SE operation in a developing economy set up. This article presents a systematic literature review of scholarly research on Indian SEs. The study analysed 101 peer-reviewed articles published over the last three decades, elaborates the evolution of research, presents a business model canvas of Indian SEs, extends the understanding of the interplay of value systems of society, growth of social entrepreneurship culture, and emerging market economies. The Indonesian government prioritizes policies aimed at fostering entrepreneurship across all segments of society. This initiative aims to promote the attainment of the sustainability development goals (SDGs), which have been introduced through various initiatives and are projected to be accomplished between 2015 and 2030. Entrepreneurship remains a less favored means of earning a living among certain Indonesians. Particularly among the youth, there is a prevalent belief that pursuing entrepreneurship is not their primary ambition or aim. The correlation between entrepreneurship and economic growth has been well-established. Consequently, studying entrepreneurship education becomes a compelling endeavor to foster entrepreneurship, particularly among aspiring entrepreneurs. The business model canvas (BMC), enables users to synchronize earnings with objectives, including environmental and social dimensions. The purpose of this training exercise was to establish the following objectives aree to enhance comprehension and effectively employ the Business Model Canvas (BMC) in the process of business planning, to enhance proficiency in creating BMC as a means of managing business plans and to promote the adoption of BMC as a solution to the business planning challenges faced by entrepreneurial students. The implementation of community service (PkM) aims to foster international collaboration between lecturers and students from UNJ and UMS. It is expected to enhance understanding, knowledge, and make a constructive impact on the business planning and development of BMC with the business community.

Background: The palm oil industry strives to implement sustainable development, maintaining the environmental quality. However, the palm oil industry has problems processing liquid waste, often known as palm oil mill effluent (POME), since it could pollute the environment. This waste also requires a large costs to be processed. On the other hand, there is potential economic value from liquid waste to be processed into several products, namely biogas, organic fertilizer, and refining value-added compounds. Currently, POME waste processing innovation could be conducted by applying plasma nanobubble (PNB) technology. This creates opportunities for a business that is engaged in developing this technology. Purpose: The aim of this research is to analyse the business model of the Plasma Nano Bubble (PNB) technology development business for the palm oil industry. Design/methodology/approach: This research uses the Business Model Canvas (BMC) to map the business processes of the Plasma Nano Bubble (PNB) technology development. Findings/Result: This study indicate that the most prominent attribute exhibited by PNB technological enterprises is their value offer, which is demonstrated by their ability to deliver efficient processing time and cost effectiveness, resource efficiency, adherence to government regulations, and the establishment of strategic collaborations with external entities. Meanwhile, the weakest element is customer relations, as only longterm relationships, and the provision of intensive training for PNB technology resellers were found in this aspect. Several indicators were proposed to improve the business model of PNB's technology, namely key partnership, the key activity, value proposition, and customer relationship. Conclusion: This research gives an important contribution related to the environmental benefits of implementing this business. The continuous development for this technology needs to be implemented to process POME waste effectively and efficiently. Originality/value (State of the art): The state of the art of this research is the development of business models for environmentally friendly products in the palm oil sector, which is currently rarely conducted, in this case the study of PNB technology products. Background: Tea stands as one of Indonesia's primary plantation commodities. The demand for tea in the domestic market is currently experiencing positive growth, reflecting shifts in consumer lifestyles and an increased interest in health products. Among the varieties of processed tea available, artisan tea stands out for its superior quality and distinctive characteristics. CV BMB, a family-owned small-scale enterprise, specializes in the development of various artisan tea products. This startup has received support from the startup incubation program provided by the Start Up-Business Development and Incubation Agency of Universitas Airlangga and the Ministry of Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises of the Republic of Indonesia. Given its niche market and unique business management approach based on familial relationships, this company presents an intriguing case for analyzing its business model. Objective: This research aims to analyze the business model and competitive strategies of CV BMB, to enable it to compete effectively and sustain growth in a competitive market. Method: This research was conducted using a phenomenological approach. The analysis of CV BMB's artisan tea business model was carried out using the business model canvas. Subsequently, Porter's Five Forces analysis was conducted to obtain suitable competitive strategies for small-scale family businesses producing artisan tea. Results: Porter's Five Forces analysis successfully identified competitive elements within the artisan tea market. Additionally, nine elements in the business canvas model have been identified, contributing to the competitive strategy and development of CV BMB as a small-scale family business producing artisan tea. Three alternative strategies for BMB's business development have been outlined: market expansion, product innovation and development, and management enhancement. Conclusion: The uniqueness of BMB's artisanal tea products, and the market niche that is still open, is an opportunity for future development. Private and public camping businesses are struggling with the strategic and operational management of their establishments. Current research on the camping sector is scarce, whether related to campsite management or existing business models. This paper aims to identify the groups of business models in the camping industry, categorize camping businesses, and enable a better understanding of the factors distinguishing the different business models by proposing key financial and non-financial indicators. Thus, a Business Model Canvas approach is applied to a set of 52 currently operating camping businesses, and a cluster analysis used to explore key factors. Purpose This research proposes an adapted version of Business Model Canvas (BMC) as a potential strategic tool for the design of the business model of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). In the context of fifth-generation universities, the University-Model Canvas (Unicanvas) offers a solution to some limitations of traditional strategic tools. Unicanvas aims to be a critical visual and dynamic tool to address the new challenges faced by universities such as internationalization, digitalization, sustainability, and corporate social responsibility. Research methods/Approach We adapt the strategic building blocks, in which some of the BMC blocks have been renamed and an achievement block has been added. We reflect theoretically on the peculiarities of each block in the context of universities to explain the versatility of the tool for designing university business models tailored to different value propositions and for various beneficiaries. Findings and implications Unicanvas offers universities the flexibility and dynamism to adapt their different business models to various forms of value creation that arise from their growing number of beneficiaries, missions, and the new trends and challenges they face.. We conclude that using this participatory,, dynamic, intuitive, and flexible strategic tool will facilitate the holistic design of the business model of these institutions.

Perum Peruri, as a state-owned banknote printing company, needs to do business model innovation to anticipate change in printing regulation by Bank Indonesia (BI). The finished banknotes business model is the submission of the entire process to provide end-to-end Rupiah. This research analyzes the impact of business model banknotes printing changing into finished banknotes against Perum Peruri. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with experts and distributing questionnaires to 44 respondents working at this company. Business Model Canvas (BMC) and Resources Based View (RBV) were used to identify business models and the internal resources required for the implementation process. Therefore, six elements in BMC were used to conduct changes, and based on the results RBV analysis, four sources of internal resources were found at the Unused Competitive Advantages (UCA) level and two at the Temporary Competitive Advantages (TCA) level. This company must develop source power inner to the level of Sustainable Competitive Advantages (SCA) to mitigate changes. Further research need to be conducted on the ability of the business model to impact changes in the banknotes printing industry.

The principal aim of this study is to explore the applicability of the Business Model Canvas in comprehending and deconstructing the operational structure of white-collar crime, with specific emphasis on carding crime as a focal point. By combining insights from a Darknet-acquired criminal carding manual with the BMC, this research introduces an innovative method for understanding and addressing illicit activities. The application of the Canvas to deconstruct the key components of the carding ecosystem establishes a systematic framework for comprehending the motivations, operational procedures, resource allocation, and financial dynamics involved in such criminal activities. This study underscores the versatility and efficacy of the Business Model Canvas in unravelling intricate criminal networks and proposes a model for utilising this approach to investigate and combat a wider array of white-collar crimes. By highlighting the successful integration of the Canvas with the carding manual, this research sets the groundwork for employing similar methodologies in analysing and combating diverse forms of financial crimes, thus showcasing the potential for broader applications beyond the context of carding crime.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the Business Model Canvas on Business Performance at Lampit MSMEs in Hulu Sungai Utara Regency. The purpose of this research activity is to test and evaluate the Business Model Canvas on Business Performance and evaluate the Business Model Canvas on Lampit MSMEs in the Wetland Area of ​​Hulu Sungai Utara Regency. The model produced in this study is expected to be able to contribute to improving Lampit MSMEs in Hulu Sungai Utara Regency. The methods used are quantitative and qualitative. Quantitative research aims to test to determine the value of independent variables, either one or more variables (independent) without making comparisons, or connecting with other variables. While Qualitative aims to describe/construct in-depth interviews with research subjects so that they can provide a clear picture of the Business Model Canvas analysis in improving business performance at Lampit MSMEs in Hulu Sungai Utara Regency. The results of data processing using the Partial Least Square analysis model using the SmartPLS computer program, obtained the results that the Business Model Canvas (Customer Segment, Customer Relationship, Customer Channel, Revenue Structure, Value Proposition, Key Activities, Key Resources, Cost Structure, and Key Partners) has an effect on the business performance of Lampit MSMEs, while the results using SWOT analysis show that Lampit MSMEs have indirectly implemented the Business Model Canvas concept in carrying out their business and the application of the Business Model Canvas to Lampit MSME Products can help Lampit MSMEs survive and develop Keywords: Business Model Canvas, Business Performance, SWOT

The rapid development in the world of tourism has become a special attraction for research, especially for agro-tourism businesses with a lot of potential. Therefore, a business model and strategy are needed that are appropriate and suitable for agro-tourism businesses by analyzing the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats currently being faced as well as developing a business model that will be implemented in the future based on the business model canvas. The research method uses a qualitative descriptive method with the research location at the Rekadena agrotourism business, which is located in Jeruju Besar Village, Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan Province. The variable consist of customer segmnets, value propositions, channels, customer relationships, revenue streams, key resources, key activities, key partnerships, and cost structure. The result of the research are segmented consumer segmentation, channels run by agro-tourism in the form of communication, distribution, and direct selling, as well as providing personal assistance and relying on service quality. Rekadena's agro-tourism motivation in establishing partner relations is the acquisition of resources and activities. In addition, the cost structure of rekadena's agro-tourism shows that the biggest cost factor in the company is employee salaries.

This research explores the new strategy PT Angkasa Pura II (AP II) adopted as an airport operator to innovate to increase revenue through its subsidiary PT Angkasa Pura Kargo (APK) in the cargo business through a canvas model approach. This research identifies the potential for business development in cargo services, PT Angkasa Pura II through its subsidiary, namely PT Angkasa Pura Kargo (APK) so that it can run cargo business directly, especially at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. By improving cargo services, it is hoped to it will be directly proportional to increasing PT Non Aero's income. Angkasa Pura II This research carries out 2 stages of analysis, namely analyzing cargo estimates for the coming year and developing existing business models to create new business models that are opportunities to increase income using canvas business analysis. Based on the analysis results, it was found that the potential demand for cargo at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport shows an increasing trend of 4.67% per year. Based on this data, business opportunities to increase nonaero income through cargo business services can still be possible by carrying out business development carried out by PT APK. The circular economy has been expected to be an effort to build a competitive and sustainable society. This study aims to develop a circular economy-based business model for waste management in Jongbiru Village, Kediri Regency. The research method used is descriptive-qualitative by developing a sustainable business model innovation framework. The model used is a development of the Business Model Canvas (BMC) by involving business aspects of the environment. The research data were collected through observation and interviews at the location of the research object. The results showed that the waste disposal site (TPS) in Jongbiru Village had implemented a circular economy business with the 3R principle (reduce, reuse, and recycle), which was managed independently. However, there are shortcomings in long-term planning and efforts related to the role of the community. Moreover, the findings in the field also show the potential that needs to be optimized through supporting facilities and social capital. Visual media have dominated sensory communications for decades, and the resulting "visual hegemony" leads to the call for the "auditory return" in order to achieve a holistic balance in cultural acceptance. Romance of the Three Kingdoms, a classic literary work in China, has received significant attention and promotion from leading audio platforms. However, the commercialization of digital audio publishing faces unprecedented challenges due to the mismatch between the dissemination of long-form content on digital audio platforms and the current trend of short and fast information reception. Drawing on the Business Model Canvas Theory and taking Romance of the Three Kingdoms as the main focus of analysis, this paper argues that the construction of a business model for the audio publishing of classical books should start from three aspects: the user evaluation of digital audio platforms, the establishment of value propositions based on the "creative transformation and innovative development" principle, and the improvement of the audio publishing infrastructure to ensure the healthy operation and development of the digital audio platforms and consequently improve their current state of development and expand the boundaries of cultural heritage. Purpose: This study aims to understand the impacts of Covid-19 on the progression of digitalization of banks in an emerging market. For this purpose, business model canvas (BMC) is used as a theoretical framework to explore these effects on each business elements of Turkish Banks' business strategies. Design/methodology/approach: Data are collected through structured interviews with the top managers of seven diversified banks. Interview questions are designed based on BMC. Findings: The results show that the onset of the Covid-19 is a shock that has made digitalization a strategic issue that necessitates an urgent change in many business elements of banks such as customer relationships, communication channels, resource allocation, partnerships and financing. Further, it has stimulated redefining value proposition and collaboration/interaction among all financial institutions through digital platforms. Practical implications: BMC can be used to explain decision-making and business processes of banks for exploring the effect of recent and/or unexpected developments in the business environment of an emerging economy. The results provide insights and recommendations to managers of financial institutions into the impacts of Covid-19 on banks' operational and strategic processes. That allows financial institutions, including Fintechs, to use this information for taking precautions and proactive actions against shocks. Originality/value: This study is an initial attempt to explore the impacts of the Covid-19 on banks in an emerging economy by using BMC. With that, this study contributes to the literature by explaining the effect of progression of digitalization in banking from a strategic business model perspective using a qualitative research method. Aim of study: This study proposes a crop diversification innovative business model based on stakeholder preferences towards different incentive alternatives. Area of study: South-East Spain. Material and methods: Citrus intercropping practices in South-East Spain has been used as case study. Stakeholders’ preferences for crop diversification incentives were investigated by using a multicriteria approach, and those results were integrated into the development of a business model canvas. Main results: Including crop diversification practices as environmental practices within the operational programmes of producer organizations is seen the most preferred incentive over which the business model canvas is developed. Research highlights: The establishment of business opportunities for crop diversification practices would facilitate the overcoming of adoption barriers along the agrifood value chain and would promote health and sustainable food systems.

Regulatory technology (RegTech) is a significant technology in the financial technology (FinTech) field that can assist FinTech and innovations to solve issues of complying with laws and regulations. However, RegTech is mainly composed of the finance, regulatory and emerging technology sectors, and its business model involves multiple dimensions, such as those among governments, banks and technology companies and cross-border FinTech. Therefore, RegTech startups exhibit distinctive features, and the optimum business model for their operation needs to be rapidly determined. This study uses a business model canvas (BMC) as an example to configure the elements and determinants of a RegTech start-ups and applies the Delphi technique and multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) approaches for the analysis.The results indicate that ‘customer relations (CR)’ and ‘key activities (KA)’ are the most significant BMC elements. Additionally, the relevant top-ranked determinants are, in their order of importance, ‘Big Data analysis’, ‘system feasibility evaluation’, ‘long-term customization’, ‘data assessment and stakeholder descriptions’, and ‘short-term projects’. In particular, business models of RegTech are the most complex in FinTech. This study concludes with business elements that can be beneficial not only for RegTech advancement but also for other emerging technologies in the FinTech.

Purpose This research proposes an adapted version of Business Model Canvas (BMC) as a strategic instrument for Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). University-Model Canvas (Unicanvas) is intended to be a critical visual and dynamic tool for addressing the challenges faced by entrepreneurial universities in their quintuple helix model. Research methods/Approach Considering the new challenges facing HEIs, transfer knowledge, corporate social responsibility, internationalization, digitalization, sustainability, and the critical role of universities in innovation and regional development, we adapt the strategic building blocks of the BMC in the context of universities. Findings and implications Departing from BMC, we propose 10 strategic building blocks against the nine BMCs, including an achievement box. The new challenges HEIs face, the expansion of university outputs, and new societal demands highlight the opportunity to use this tool instead of traditional and static strategic planning models to discuss and concretise their differentiated way of competing. The use of this participative, dynamic, intuitive, and flexible strategic tool will facilitate the holistic strategic management of these institutions in their current new challenges.

Short food supply chains (SFSCs) are market schemes that allow different types of value to emerge. In this work, we aimed to uncover these facets of value. To do so, we built upon two conceptual models: a Triple Layered Business Model Canvas and an eight-dimensional blueprint developed for our purposes. Then, we conducted two studies using these models as theoretical templates. In Study I, we followed a business model canvas perspective, aiming to portray the components that contribute to the generation of economic, functional, and social value produced in SFSCs. By drawing on a sample of farmers who participate in SFSCs, we developed regression models to uncover the antecedents of value. Our analysis revealed that the effectiveness of performed activities catalyses the economic value of SFSCs. In addition, the social value depends on the capacity of SFSCs to enhance local communities' well-being and provide significant outreach. Finally, environmental value is associated with the distribution of products. In Study II, using data from a pool of experts, we assessed the importance of eight facets of value. Participants appraised economic, social, cultural, and environmental value as more important than the remaining dimensions. Our studies shed light on the dimensions of value created in SFSCs, also confirming the usefulness of business model canvases for understanding value creation processes. However, our work also offers a new framework for conceptualising supply chains' value, distinguishing value into primary (which is produced and remains within SFSCs) and secondary (which extends beyond supply chain limits). Businesses are under pressure to increasingly consider sustainability as an integral part of the enterprise and business model. Nature-based solutions (NBS) definitions reflect that sustainability can be improved by implementing NBS. These NBS require tailored business models. Therefore, this study aims to conceptualize a holistic business model canvas capturing the sustainability contributions ofNBS. Methodically, the new Canvas is proposed based on an extensive literature review, and the application and testing are carried out on NBSs implemented in the proGIreg project's three European Living Labs. As a result, by building on the Business Model Canvas (BMC) by Osterwalder and Pigneur as well as various modifications to capture the core concepts of sustainability and NBS, a new BMC for NBS is proposed—the nature-based sustainability Business Model Canvas (NB S BMC). It consists of 14 building blocks and offers a holistic overview of NBS business models considering the multi-faceted character of NBS. The case studies show that the NB S BMC can be applied to different contexts independently of their location and content orientation. Purpose: This research aims to explore the innovation and product development process of the Kewania board game, analyze its business model, and assess its product maturity. Method: The study employs the Design Thinking framework to identify the manufacturing process, conducts a Business Model Canvas (BMC) analysis for business model examination, and utilizes the KTH Innovation Readiness Level (IRL) method for evaluating product maturity. Result: The findings indicate that "Kewania" successfully integrates design thinking, creating board games that are not only entertaining but also possess educational value.
