Digital technologies were implemented to address long-term care facility residents' disrupted socialization needs during the COVID-19 pandemic. A literature review regarding this topic is needed to inform public policy, facility's managers, family caregivers, and nurses/allies health professionals involved in mediating the use of digital devices for resident's social ties. Our study outlines key concepts, methodologies, results, issues, and gaps in articles published during pandemic-related visitation restrictions.Our study outlines key concepts, methodologies, results, issues, and gaps in articles published during pandemic-related visitation restrictions.Following the PRISMA-ScR protocol, a Scoping review was conducted by searching 3 databases aggregator platforms (EBSCO, ProQuest, and PubMed) for studies published in peer-reviewed journals from early 2020 to the end of June 2021, when the most stringent restrictions were in place. We included qualitative and quantitative studies, reviews, commentaries, viewpoints and letters to the editors in French or English focusing on digital technologies aiming to supporting the social contacts of residents in long-term care facilities during the pandemic-related visitation restrictions.Among 763 screened articles, 29 met our selection criteria. For each of them, we characterized the (1) Authors / Title / Date of publication (2) Country of the first author (3) Research fields (4) Article type (5) Type of technology mentioned. The analysis distinguishes three main themes emerging from the literature: (a) impact and expectations of remote social contact on the physical and mental health and well-being of the residents (n = 12), (b) with whom or what the social contact takes place (n = 17), and (c) limitations and barriers to significant social contact related to digital technologies (n = 14). The results first underline the highly positive impact expected by the authors of the digital technologies on health and quality of life of long-term care facilities' residents. Second, they highlight the plurality of ties to consider, since the social contacts take place not only with family caregivers to maintain a contact but also for other purposes (end-of-life videoconferences) and with other types of contact (e.g., with staff and with robots). Thirdly, they expose the limitations and barriers to significant contact using digital technologies, and outline the required conditions to enable them.The review demonstrated the opportunities and risks outlined by the literature about the implementation of digital technologies to support remote social contacts. It shows the plurality of ties to consider and reveals the need to evaluate the positive impact of the remote contacts from the resident's perspective. Therefore, to go beyond the digital solutionism risk, there is a need for studies considering the holistic impact on health regarding the implementation of digital technologies, including the meaning residents give to interpersonal exchanges and the organizational constraints.

L’objectif de l’article est de montrer le role des systemes de controle de gestion (SCG) dans la construction des relations inter-organisationnelles (RIO). S’appuyant sur l’etude qualitative de l’implantation d’un tableau de bord dans le secteur medico-social, les resultats attestent que l’introduction d’un SCG participe a faconner les RIO en les initiant, les formalisant et en projetant le rapport que chaque organisation entretient avec la definition de la performance vehiculee par le SCG. Montrant que la finalite du controle est nourrie par l’ambivalence du rapport des organisations au SCG, l’article contribue egalement aux reflexions concernant la diffusion d’une performance qui inclut la competition et l’optimisation a partir de resultats chiffres parmi les preoccupations prioritaires des acteurs. Il souligne les mecanismes qui rendent un SCG porteur de valeurs eloignees de la culture d’un secteur acceptable, indiscutable et incontournable.

Dans le cadre d’une attention accrue portee aux parcours de soins autour des personnes soignees, les demarches de valorisation de ces parcours sont cruciales, mais restent encore exploratoires dans les structures de sante. La methode de calcul de couts complets TDABC (time-driven activity based costing), preconisee, reste rare. Cet article vise a identifier les defis concrets de son application a des parcours de soins dans le cadre d’une structure innovante, un institut hospitalo-universitaire (IHU) lie a un centre hospitalo-universitaire (CHU). L’article precise les etapes de mise en œuvre et les difficultes associees, au niveau de la definition des parcours, de la collecte des donnees et de leur valorisation. L’etude permet aussi de pointer le potentiel d’amelioration des processus, met en evidence les competences communicationnelles necessaires au deploiement de la methode, et montre l’importance de l’adapter pour ne pas rigidifier les processus, et favoriser l’innovation. Le TDABC, qui semble simple, presente des difficultes dans les phases precedant le calcul de cout final.

RESULTS The results address three main aspects: the impact and expectations of digital technologies on health and quality of life, people involved in the exchanges, and limitations preventing significant contact. The findings highlight the plurality of ties to consider, show the need to support both face-to-face and remote contact, evaluate their complementarity, and outline emerging avenues to enable meaningful remote social ties. CONCLUSIONS To go beyond the digital solutionism risk, future research and public policies should consider the holistic impact on health regarding the implementation of digital technologies, including the meaning residents give to interpersonal exchanges and the organizational constraints.

Performance measurement systems have become essential managerial tools for healthcare organisations in the last few decades. They allow hospital managers to pilot their institution and assess the development of the organisation in helping managers in decision-making and viewing the different impacts of these decisions. However, there is a need to investigate further the dimensions of performance those performance measurement systems address.A literature review was primarily conduced about performance measures in healthcare organisations. A comparative study was secondly made to identify the different performance dimensions that are present in the literature during the last decade. Forty-nine studies were considered and sixteen proposal frameworks were used to make the comparative analyses.We classified dimensions depending on the frequency of mobilisation of their components in four categories: the stars, the first runners-up, the opportunists and the forgotten ones. For each of the dimensions presented in this classification, the main types of KPIs proposed in the theoretical frameworks are presented. A discussion on relevance and possible blind spots is then conducted.Although they were a lot of proposal frameworks of KPI proposed in the last decades to assess healthcare organisations, some dimensions remain underrepresented. There is still a need to develop structure KPI and describe their links. To go further, the development of dashboards asks the question of the definition of KPI, the description of their interconnections and their temporality of driving, because static performance reporting systems are not able to completely satisfy healthcare manager's decision support needs.

PurposeTeacher-researchers carry out two singular, demanding and time-consuming, activities: research and teaching. Some, convinced of the cross-fertilization of these two activities, try to introduce elements of their research into their courses. This intention becomes a major challenge for interpretive and critical teacher-researchers in accounting who cannot rely on textbooks, mostly oriented for the mainstream. The purpose of this paper is to investigate how those teacher-researchers proceed to infuse their research into their courses.Design/methodology/approachThis paper is an exploratory qualitative study based on interviews.FindingsThe results show three typical profiles that correspond to three ways of infusing research into courses, and how these profiles can evolve and combine.Originality/valueThe identification of teacher-researcher profiles allows categorization of how they infuse their research into their teaching. By listing the constraints imposed on teacher-researchers intending to infuse research, proposals for ways to overcome the identified constraints that hinder the cross-fertilization of research and teaching are suggested. The paper also reexamines the status of teachers-researchers in accounting who address a critical approach in their teaching.

Background: Faced with increased expectations regarding the quality and safety of health care delivery systems, a number of stakeholders are increasingly looking for more qualitative and efficient ways to deliver care. This study is conducted to provide a clear definition of the patient-centered care pathway and its characteristics to meet the need for an international consensus. Methods: This qualitative systematic review aims to perform a systematic synthesis of published evidence concerning (1) the definition of the patient trajectory, patient pathway or patient journey and (2) their characteristics. With a consulting librarian, a comprehensive and systematic search in three databases was conducted (PUBMED, Embase, ABI/Inform), from 1995 to 2020 without language criteria. Eligibility criteria guiding data selection will follow the PICo mnemonic criteria consisting of (1) Population : all types of patients managed by health care delivery systems for an acute or chronic condition regardless of age or condition, (2) Phenomena : studies that contribute to the definition and conceptualization of the concepts of care trajectory, care pathway and patient journey resulting in a theoretical and conceptual contribution, and (3) Context : health care providers include all providers of primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary care in any geographic area. Two reviewers will independently screen, select, extract data and make a critical assessment of the methodology used with the JBI Qualitative Assessment and Review Instrument (JBI QARI).Discussion: This systematic review will provide much-needed knowledge regarding patient-centered pathways. The results will benefit clinicians, decision makers, and researchers by giving them a clear and integrated definition and understanding of the patient-centered care pathways and their characteristics to finally meet the need for an international consensus.

L’introduction d’un tableau de bord dans le médico-social peut être perçue comme un contrôle contraignant ou habilitant par les acteurs responsables des établissements et services. Cet article s’appuie sur une recherche de terrain longitudinale pour présenter une analyse de l’évolution de ces perceptions. Les résultats montrent une évolution en trois phases : la découverte, entre crainte et espoir ; l’acceptation partielle, entre rejet et appropriation ; et l’intégration, volontaire ou résignée. Les contributions de la recherche concernent les champs des contrôles habilitants et contraignants d’une part et des transformations du secteur médico-social d’autre part. The implementation of a dashboard in the health and social care sector can be perceived as a coercive or enabling control by the actors responsible for the facilities and services. This article draws on a longitudinal field research to present an analysis of the evolution of these perceptions. The results show three phases: discovery, between fears and hopes; partial acceptance, between rejection and appropriation; and integration, voluntary or resigned. The research contributions concern the fields of enabling and coercive controls on the one hand and transformations in the health and social care sector on the other.

L’article participe à la compréhension d’une démarche de gestion des compétences par l’étude des impacts d’une auto-évaluation des compétences dans un hôpital luxembourgeois. À un niveau individuel, la prise de conscience de la complexité et de la variabilité du travail génère un effet de responsabilisation et d’autonomisation. À un niveau organisationnel, la formalisation de la cartographie des compétences favorise un pilotage dynamique des compétences, s’avère être un levier motivationnel et a un effet sur les déterminants de l’efficacité humaine.

Cet article traite des roles des acteurs organisationnels dans la conduite d’un projet : la mise en œuvre du tableau de bord partage des etablissements et services medico-sociaux. Ce projet implique de nombreux acteurs dans une configuration inter-organisationnelle : des etablissements et services du secteur, et leurs representants, des Agences Regionales de Sante, des Conseils Generaux, l’Agence Nationale d’Appui a la Performance (ANAP), la Direction Generale de la Cohesion Sociale et la Caisse Nationale de Solidarite et d’Autonomie. L’ANAP a defini des roles pour chacun des types d’acteurs concernes par le projet, devenant alors un emetteur de roles selon le modele de sequence de roles, propose par Katz et Kahn (1966). L’analyse des roles resulte d’une observation participante longitudinale, impliquant l’un des chercheurs dans le processus d’introduction de l’outil. Les resultats detaillent les roles transmis par l’ANAP et etablissent une comparaison avec les roles effectivement joues par les differents acteurs. Le differentiel entre ces deux types de roles est explique par trois facteurs principaux : l’avancee du projet, l’illusion percue d’une transmission de roles et un manque de concertation entre les differents acteurs. Nos contributions academiques sont l’introduction de la dimension dynamique au modele de Katz et Kahn et la confirmation du role central du coordonnateur dans une configuration inter-organisationnelle. Notre contribution manageriale reside dans la proposition de pistes d’amelioration du management des roles dans la conduite d’un projet.

La theorie de la traduction met en evidence l’importance de l’ajustement des acteurs au sein d’un reseau decloisonne pour la production d’innovations. Le present article est le resultat d’interrogations sur l’existence ou non de la traduction dans un environnement reglemente, a priori contraire a l’emergence de marges de manœuvre pour les acteurs du projet. La recherche s’appuie sur le cas de l’introduction du contrat de bon usage des medicaments (CBU) dans les etablissements de sante pour identifier les moments de traduction et les controverses du projet, en deployant un dispositif methodologique alliant collecte de donnees de terrain et retour reflexif au laboratoire. Les resultats des etablissements attestent de la reussite de l’introduction du CBU dans les etablissements. L’environnement reglementaire n’empeche pas l’emergence de moments de traduction ainsi que de controverses qui ne remettent pas en cause le projet.

The aim of the thesis is to analyze an inter-organizational management control system construction, mobilizing multiple public and private organizations in the process. Our research is based on a field research involving PhD in experimental project of the first common tool for all social-medical sector: a management control system called "performance management Dashboard" by the institution which support the project (ANAP). Symmetrical anthropology reading grid, a part of the theory of translation, can provide results on three themes: the management control trajectory, the role of actors and actants in the construction process and actors' strategies. - The analysis of the trajectory of the tool leads to distinguish four main phases and leads to identify the moments of purification and in mediation of the construction process of the tool. The initial objectives of the introduction of the management system, operational and technical, are gradually replaced by an underlying objective of disseminating the culture of performance, which eventually becomes the main objective. The shift from the initial objective has led the final demobilization of actors. This demobilization is accented by a mechanism bureaucratic temptation: the institution bearing the project was surprised by the increased number of controversies. Failing to continue in the initial collaborative and participatory perspective for the construction of the tool, it has applied its traditional bureaucratic routines, not taking advantage of the benefits of the network structure. - The roles that actors attribute to the management control system are: an understanding of reality, a justification support, a learning factor and a role of ritual. The actors play roles in the construction process that may differ roles initially assigned by the translator. Among these are the roles identified as desirable but not expected. - A cross analysis call on three factors explaining the strategies of actors involved in the project: official objectives to participate in the project, controversies they emit and their expectations vis-à-vis their endowments. This analysis leads to define four types of actors' strategies: passive suspicious, opportunistic learner, proactive criticism and good student. All these results lead us to suggest ways of improving the process. Among these recommendations, it is offered to select the most critical controversies and deal with transparency to avoid actors' demobilization, promote unanticipated but desirable roles and adapt the modalities of participation for actors based on strategies they deploy.; L'objectif de la thèse est d'analyser le processus de construction d'un outil de contrôle de gestion inter-organisationnel mobilisant de multiples organisations publiques et privées. This research analyzes pre-appropriation phase of a management tool introduction process referred to as "benchmarking" in a health care facility, from a participant-observation method. The research first presents a chronological analysis of the pre-appropriation stages, followed by an analysis by stakeholder. The dominant perspective of the pre-appropriation is socio-political, yet other dimensions are also identified. This research helps to better understand the phase of pre-appropriation, which has yet to be studied in greater depth., Cette recherche analyse la phase de pré-appropriation du processus d'introduction d'un outil de gestion, le benchmarking, dans un établissement de santé à partir d'une observation participante. Après une analyse chronologique des étapes de la pré-appropriation, une analyse par acteur est proposée. La perspective dominante lors de la pré-appropriation est socio-politique, mais d'autres dimensions sont également identifiées.
