The present study aimed to adapt and investigate the psychometric properties of the Brazilian version of The Fear of the Coronavirus Questionnaire (EMC). The sample consisted of 460 Brazilian participants aged between 18 and 89 years (M=36.45, SD=12.47). Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was conducted and correlations with measures of anxiety, depression, stress and positivity were tested to examine evidence of convergent validity. The EFA confirmed the scale's one-dimensional structure with an Omega internal consistency index of .872 and factor loadings ranging from .427 to .777 (except for one item with a low factor loading; .177). Positive correlations were found between the EMC and stress measures (r=.264), anxiety (r=.177), and depression (r=.214), while no correlation was found between the EMC and positivity. The results suggest that the Brazilian version of the EMC is a valid measure to assessing fear of coronavirus/COVID-19 in the Brazilian population. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
This study aims to investigate the differences in levels of positive parenting motivations (PPM) between Brazilians and Peruvians and to determine whether nationality significantly moderates the effect of six socio-demographic variables and two individual variableson PPM. The sample was composed of 1,373 Peruvians and 1,464 Brazilians. Participants' ages ranged from 18 to 68 years (M= 29.68; SD= 6.29). Multi-group confirmatory factor analysis and multi-group structural equation analysis were performed. The results showed that the Peruvian sample had higher levels of general and specific PPM compared to the Brazilian sample. It was also found that the effect of the education variable on general PPM is not significantly moderated by nationality. On the other hand, the effects of the variables having or not having children, having or not having a partner, family income, positivity, and religiosity are influenced by the population they come from. The main contribution ofthe study is to present evidence that the influence of contextual and personal variables on motivations for parenting is conditioned to the context in which the subject is inserted., O presente estudo tem como objetivo investigar as diferenças nos níveis de motivações parentais positivas (MPP) entre brasileiros e peruanos e determinar se a nacionalidade modera significativamente o efeito de seis variáveis sociodemográficas e duas variáveis individuaissobre o PPM.

Abstract Lesbians, gays and bisexuals (LGB) may present lower levels of mental health than their heterosexual peers. Some factors can impact the mental health of LGBS, among them internalized homophobia (IH) and community connectedness (CC). This study investigated HI and LGB CC indexes in a Brazilian LGB sample. Specifically, the objective was to verify the possible moderating effects of CC on the relationship between HI and negative mental health outcomes. A total of 715 LGBS between the ages of 18 and 70 years (M = 24.14; SD = 7.18) participated in the study, answering on HI and CC with tools for mental health assessment. MANOVAS and path analysis were performed in order to test the proposed model. Lesbians had the lowest rates of HI, gays had the lowest rates of depression and anxiety and bisexuals had the lowest rates of CC. No significant relationships were found between the variables in path analysis. This may have occurred because of the context of the country's public policies, sample characteristics and limitations of the study itself.

- Abstract
The different family settings are part of contemporary society and result in changes in the conceptions of existing families, including for children. This study aimed to analyze the conceptions of families according to the children’s verbal report. A total of 108 children aged 5 to 12 years (M = 8.58, sd = 1.54), living in the city of Rio de Janeiro, participated in this study. The following question was asked to each of them: “What does family mean to you?”. The answers were stored in text and audio format in order to perform lexical analysis, using the IRaMuTeQ software, and content analysis, according to Bardin’s proposal. The results indicated that the focus of the children remains in families of traditional configurations. It was observed, however, that from early years, children recognize families from the point of view of affection and functions associated with care and protection., As diferentes configurações familiares são parte da sociedade contemporânea e resultam em mudanças nas concepções de famílias existentes na sociedade, inclusive para as crianças. - Abstract
This study aimed to evaluate the moderating effects of social support and resilience in the relationship between Minority Stress (MS) and mental health outcomes. A total of 337 women over 18 years of age (M = 26 years, SD = 17.3) participated in this study, including 42.43% lesbian, (n = 143) and 57.57% bisexual women (n = 194). The participants responded to scales that assessed internalized homophobia, victimization, disclosure of sexual orientation, subjective happiness, life satisfaction, depression, anxiety and stress, social support, and resilience. Structural equation modeling was performed to verify the impact of minority stressors on the well-being and psychopathology variables and to test whether social support and resilience moderated these associations. Results showed that resilience moderated the relationship between victimization and psychopathology. Clinical implications are discussed throughout the article. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Burnout is characterized by emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and low personal accomplishment at work. The objective of this research was to investigate the relationship between sociodemographic variables and personality traits, according to the Big Five theory, in the outcome of the syndrome. The sociodemographic questionnaire, the Work Burnout Inventory and the Reduced Personality Markers were answered in an online platform by 343 Brazilian professionals from the service sector (75.50% women, n = 259), working in the areas of health, education, administrative services, security, banking and customer service (e.g. telemarketing, call centers). The results do not point to a statistically significant relationship between sociodemo-graphic variables and burnout. Personality traits had a more predictive relationship with the three factors of burnout, which Neuroticism was the most important predictor. Personal resources, especially Neuroticism, can play an important role in the development of burnout. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Aggressive behavior is common in childhood, which requires the use of appropriate instruments to measure them. The aim of this study was to test the measurement invariance of the Peer Aggressive Behavior Scale (PAB-S) and to investigate evidence of validity based on the association with other external variables. Participants were 237 caregivers (M = 38.5; SD = 7.02, 70.6% mothers) and 1,370 children, aged 7 to 13 years (M = 9.87, SD = 1.28, 53.1% girls), students from elementary schools in three Brazilian states. The Multigroup Confirmatory Factor Analysis demonstrated configural, scalar and metric invariance of the PAB-S. The Structural Equation Modeling indicated adequate evidence of concurrent and convergent validity. - Abstract
This study investigated the relationship between family climate and emotional/behavioral problems in childhood. A total of 237 mothers, parents or caregivers of children enrolled in elementary schools in Rio de Janeiro participated in the study. Data were collected through the Family-Climate Inventory and the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL 6/18). Pearson's correlations and multiple linear regressions indicated a negative association between family support and cohesion and children's emotional/behavioral problems. Thus, conflict and family hierarchy were positively associated with these problems. The results showed the importance of the proximal processes, and especially the family climate, as an important source of protection for children's development., Esse estudo investigou a relação entre clima familiar e problemas emocionais e comportamentais na infância. - Abstract
The family climate refers to the perception of family relationship characteristics by its members. The present study aimed to investigate the evidence of validity of the observer-report version of the Family Climate Inventory based on its internal structure. A total of 722 caregivers (76.3% women) of children (52.4% girls) aged between 8 and 12 years (Mage=9.17, SD=1.59) participated in the study. Exploratory factor analysis indicated adequate psychometric properties (Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin [KMO]=0.90049; Bartlett's test of sphericity=5850.8; df=231; p<0.001; RMSEA=0.058; NNFI=0.971; WRMR=0.0537) and a two factor solution for the observerreport version. The factors Positive Family Climate and Negative Family Climate are consistent with the literature on family climate. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Lesbian and bisexual women present high rates of psychopathologies, such as depression and anxiety. This study aimed to compare the subjective happiness, life satisfaction, depression, anxiety, and stress levels in lesbian, bisexual and heterosexual women. Participated in this study 736 women (heterosexuals = 414, lesbian = 143, bisexuals = 194), older than 18 years (M = 27.37, SD = 13.44). Participants answered an online questionnaire composed of a sociodemographic questionnaire and scales for the evaluation of the mentioned psychological variables. Lesbians and bisexuals had lower levels of well-being and greater psychopathologies than heterosexuals. Bisexuals had lower rates of well-being and higher rates of psychopathology when compared to lesbians and heterosexuals. It is believed that these indicators can be explained by the condition of psychosocial vulnerability to which non-heterosexual women meet. Larger research should be conducted to gain a better understanding of the predictors of mental health outcomes in this group. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
The family configurations are in the process of diversification, so that the model formed by man and woman united in matrimony is not the only one to be legitimized by society. This study aimed to investigate how the Carioca children graphically represent families, based on the theory of behavior analysis. A total of 108 carioca children (52.8% boys and 47,2% girls), aged between five and 12 years (M = 8.58, DP = 1.54) and their respective parents (M = 36.9 males; DP = 7.31). The children were asked to design individually a family and describe it. Respondents were asked to complete a sociodemographic questionnaire. The contents of the drawings and data of the sociodemographic questionnaire were tabulated and analyzed using the statistical software IBM SPSS version 22. Most of the children represented traditional families in their designs. However, the conceptions of family seemed more associated to the affective dimension than to the spaces of coexistence and dwelling. This study proposed new empirical and theoretical perspectives to evaluate the family drawing and suggests the need to better understand how the various family arrangements are apprehended by the children. Vulnerability is defined as a state of reduced or impeded self-determination of people or groups, regarding resistance and participation in research. According to the Resolution 466/2012, such individuals could participate in research in case it could not be conducted, preferably, with individuals with full autonomy. Resolution 510/2016 represents a step forward because it adopts the participation of vulnerable individuals not only in the absence of those with full autonomy. It is understood that the latter praises the social commitment of the researcher regarding harm reduction or risk situations of the participants involved. This study proposes a discussion on the practice of research in Psychology with individuals in different conditions of vulnerability., A vulnerabilidade é definida como um estado de autodeterminação reduzida ou impedida, de pessoas ou grupos, no que concerne à resistência e participação em pesquisas. - Abstract
The current study aimed to identify empirical studies on Motivation to Parenthood (MP) through a systematic search in eight electronic databases. The combination of several descriptors in English, Portuguese and Spanish resulted in 1345 international publications. After initial refining and analysis, 49 studies met specifics inclusion criteria and remained to constitute the final sample of this search. Nine analytical categories were identified, divided between general aspects and studies results. The results indicate a growing interest and diverse theoretical approach in the study of MP. Nevertheless, it was verified a notable gap in this research field in Latin America context. The TDIB framework of Warren Miller to understand and measure MP was found to have great acceptance among scholars. Personal, cultural and contextual variables related to the study of motivation to parenthood were identified. Finally, methodological limitations presented by researchers are described. Studies show a relationship between externalizing behavior, perception and coping. This study aims to compare the appraisal and coping of children and adolescents with low, medium and high scores on externalizing behavior. Participants were 512 children and adolescents aged 11 to incomplete 18, who responded to Coping Response Inventory- Y (CRI- Y) and Youth Self Report (YSR). No statistically significant differences were found on aggressive behavior or breaking rules by sex. However, there was a statistically significant difference between appraisal and coping according to the levels of aggressive behavior or breaking rules. Taken together, the data presented in this study seem to corroborate the literature that points to the existence of a perceptual distortion and low coping skills among children and adolescents with externalizing problems. This information can be especially useful for the development of stress management, cognitive correction and training in coping skills programs., Pesquisas evidenciam uma relação entre comportamentos externalizantes, percepção e enfrentamento de problemas. This study reports a review about instruments of evaluation of aggressive behavior, used in Brazilian studies. Considering the inclusion/exclusion criteria adopted, 25 Brazilian papers published in the last two decades and available at the Psychology Virtual Library were analyzed. The results point to the scarcity of studies on the assessment of aggressive behavior in the national literature. Few studies use instruments which discriminates the aggressive behavior as to its etiology and manifestation. The necessity of adaptation and validation of new instruments, and new studies to the understanding and assessment of aggressive behavior through valid instruments for the Brazilian context are pointed out., O presente artigo relata um levantamento de instrumentos de avaliação de comportamentos agressivos de crianças que estão sendo utilizados em estudos brasileiros.

The screening of early signs of autism is crucial for early diagnosis, allowing an effective intervention that allows an improvement in the development and quality of life of individuals with autism. The aim of this study was to identify the available instruments to screen signs of autism in children under 36 months of age. Therefore, a review of articles published between 2004 and 2015 was conducted in the electronic databases SciELO, PubMed, Lilacs and PsycINFO. 11 instruments were found in 34 articles analyzed, and only one instrument has been translated into Portuguese, indicating an absence of these instruments in Brazil. Considering the importance of early identification and diagnosis of autism for improving the quality of life of individuals with autism, it seems essential that studies of early screening instruments need to be conducted in the country. From the processes of uninstitutionalization and psychiatric’s reform in the end of the 70’s in several European countries and in the United States, new forms of attention to the mental health have been thought and created in Brazil aiming extinguish the old manicomials models that were responsable for treating the mental sick. Rio Grande do Sul was one of the pioneering Brazilian states on the approval and implementation of the psychiatric’s reform Laws. This article present a research about mental health’s services in some Rio Grande do Sul’s towns, regarding the process of Psychiatric’s reform. Four Centrals of Psychology and Social Attention (CAPs), a boarding house and Psychiatric Hospital were visited. The main scope of these visitations was establish a comparison between the institutions, conceiving the working method and them services’ differences, inferring about them contribution on social rehabilitation. Informations were collected by observation and interviews with mental health service’s technicians and users. It was testified that CAPs and the Boarding house visited fulfil sucessfully the propost; at the same time, Psychiatric Hospital shows us the sad and obscure side of mental health’s history in the Rio Grande do Sul., A partir dos processos de Desinstitucionalização e Reforma Psiquiátrica iniciados no final da década de 70 em vários países da Europa e nos Estados Unidos, novas formas de atenção à saúde mental vêm sendo pensadas e criadas no Brasil com o objetivo de dar fim aos antigos modelos manicomiais que se responsabilizavam por tratar os chamados doentes mentais.

This study investigates new evidence of validity for the Positivity Scale (POS) to the Brazilian context. 876 individuals (66% women), with age varying from 18 to 83 years old participated in the study. A multigroup confirmatory factor analysis was conducted to evaluate gender measurement invariance. Results showed configural, metric and scalar invariance, suggesting POS to be invariant for both men and women. Two multiple linear regression analysis were conducted to evaluate the relation among the POS with constituent variables of the construct positivity (model 1) and with convergent constructs (model 2). Results from model 1 suggested that, in fact, positivity can be considered a composite of self-esteem, hope, optimism and life satisfaction. Results from model 2 provided further convergent validity evidence for the scale. This study extends the validity evidence for the POS in the Brazilian context. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Instruments comprising the Achenbach System of Empirically Based Assessment are widely used worldwide to assess behavior problems in children and adolescents. The aim of the present study was to assess the temporal stability of the Child Behavior Checklist (CBCL) and Teacher's Report Form (TRF), administered to parents and teachers of school-aged children, respectively. Temporal stability was assessed based on intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC). High test-retest reliability was observed for both CBCL and TRF (0.87 – 0.91 and 0.62 – 0.8 for total behavior scale, respectively). These findings suggest that both instruments remained stable over the one-year period assessment, revealing the stability of the instrument and corroborating the findings of previous international studies. - Abstract
The present paper describes the translation and cross-cultural adaptation process of the Peer Aggressive and Reactive Behaviors Questionnaire (PARB-Q) to Brazilian Portuguese. Six steps were performed to ensure the quality of the procedure: two translations from the original language to the target language; synthesis of the translated versions; synthesis evaluation by expert judges; instrument evaluation by the target population; back translation; and pilot study. We sought to guarantee the quality of the translation and adaptation process of the Q-CARP by considering the semantic, idiomatic, experiential and conceptual equivalence of the items between the original and the translated versions. The internal consistencies of the scales were adequate, demonstrating that they are part of the same conceptual dimension. The results indicated initial evidence on the adequacy of the CARP-Q for evaluating aggressive behavior and reactions to aggression in children. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: To evaluate the psychometric properties of the Brazilian version of the Peer Aggressive and Reactive Behaviors Questionnaire (PARB-Q), a self-report instrument comprising two independent scales that assess aggressive behavior and reactions to peer aggression. Method: A total of 727 elementary schoolchildren aged 8-13 years (52% boys) were included. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses were used to evaluate the factor structure. Results: The Brazilian version of the PARB-Q was consistent with the original version. The results of the exploratory factor analyses (EFA) indicated a one-factor solution for the first scale (Peer Aggression Scale) and a three-factor solution (Reactive Aggression, Seeking Teacher Support, and Internalizing Reaction) for the Reaction to Peer Aggression Scale. The confirmatory analyses for both scales yielded good fit indices. Conclusion: The results of the statistical analyses suggested adequate psychometric properties and satisfactory validity and reliability of the Brazilian version of the PARB-Q, making it a useful tool for assessing aggressive behavior as well as children's reactions to aggression by their peers.
