In order to solve the problem of power deviation caused by voltage drop of line impedance, a control strategy of interlinking converter (IC) in hybrid microgrid based on line impedance compensation is proposed. In this method, one specified harmonic signal whose frequency is closely related to the voltage of point of common coupling (PCC) is injected into IC. The harmonic frequency is obtained by the usage of a filter and phase-locked loop at the ac side of IC, and the line impedance is obtained consequently. Compensating the voltage drop with the estimated line impedance, and the accurate power transmission can be realized. Finally, simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.

The discussion of ultrathin crystalline silicon solar cell (UCSC) thickness and light enhancement patterns has long been a practical topic in its field with the objective of achieving optimum efficiency. In this work, we distinguish between the effects of the top and bottom structural designs on the light absorption of ultrathin crystalline-silicon solar cell. Nanopyramid (NP) front surface and distributed Bragg Reflector (DBR) bottom layer as enhancement agent was combined and its relation with thickness of solar cell was studied thoroughly. The relationship of photonic interaction between the top and bottom surfaces is also examined. Based on our simulation results, the optimized cell architecture consists of a 4 μ m-thick film combined with nanopyramid of 800 nm period and bottom reflector of 4 pair DBRs. The maximum achievable photo-current density of 36.72 mA/cm2 was obtained, which is among the best results of prior research for UCSC.

Non-obstructive azoospermia (NOA) is an important factor that causes male infertility. Stem cells are a group of cells capable of self-renewal and multi-directional differentiation, and embryonic stem cells and induced pluripotent stem cells can generate spermatozoa through differentiation, which, however, is confronted with ethical constraints and the risk of tumorigenesis. Spermatogonial stem cells can produce haploid gametes by differentiation but human spermatogonial stem cells are difficult to be cultured in vitro. Mesenchymal stem cells promote spermatogenesis through paracrine activity, and Leydig stem cells act on sperm production by secreting testosterone. 2D co-culture of multiple stem cells and 3D testicular organ culture can promote spermatogenesis by simulating a better spermatogenic microenvironment of the testis. Some progress has been achieved in the treatment of NOA by stem cell therapy despite existing problems and difficulties. This review summarizes the advances in the studies of stem cell therapy for NOA and introduces its application prospects and existing problems so as to provide some reference for the relevant researches and application.

In order to improve the AC/DC sub-grid voltage accuracy of the traditional normalized droop control, an adaptive droop control strategy for AC/DC hybrid micro-grid interlinking interface is proposed. The proposed control strategy can not only reduce unnecessary power exchange while ensuring the bidirectional flow of power between AC and DC sub-grids, but also improve power transmission accuracy to realize a better compensation of the voltage deviation. As for the island mode of low-voltage hybrid AC/DC microgrid, the relationship between droop coefficient and transmitted power is deduced first. Then, the voltage variation is introduced to construct the operating criterion that characterizes the system load condition. Based on the above analysis, a control strategy whose droop coefficient is changing adaptively is designed. Moreover, considering the variation of line impendence, a control strategy is proposed to realize power distribution properly and suppress circulating current between parallel ICs. Finally, a simulation model of hybrid AC/DC microgrid is built on the Matlab/Simulink, and the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed control strategy are verified by simulation results.

Emotion recognition reflects the psychological and physiological status of humans. Numerous studies have investigated the neural mechanisms of emotion recognition based on electroencephalography (EEG) features. In the previous study, emotion target was presented under a static or irregular background, which made the response highly time-locked. As an oscillatory component of EEG, steady-state visual evoked potential (SSVEP) has distinctive frequency and phase properties, which provides more stable information than the other components of EEG. This study combined the emotion target with SSVEP to explore neural mechanisms of visual neurons under flickering background. Three basic emotions (delightfulness, sadness and, anger) were presented in 216 frequency-intensity conditions. Participants were asked to recognize the emotions and make judgments. The degree of alpha entrainment (valued as normalized Shannon entropy), SSVEP amplitude and recognition accuracy were calculated as response features. The results indicated that: SSVEP amplitude and recognition accuracy positively correlated with each other in frequency domain (7–15 Hz); alpha entrainment, and recognition accuracy had similar linear variation in intensity domain (level 1–4), and had a threshold around intensity 3; the three basic emotions had no clear relationship with each other in recognition. This study provided a new sight for neuroscience and would be an important reference to clinical psychology.

Structural design with high light absorption is the key challenge for thin film solar cells because of its poor absorption. In this paper, the light-trapping performance of silicon inclined nanohole arrays is systematically studied. The finite difference time domain method is used to calculate the optical absorption of different inclination angles in different periods and diameters. The results indicate that the inclined nanoholes with inclination angles between 5° and 45° demonstrate greater light-trapping ability than their counterparts of the vertical nanoholes, and they also show that by choosing the optimal parameters for the inclined nanoholes, a 31.2 mA/cm2 short circuit photocurrent density could be achieved, which is 10.25% higher than the best vertical nanohole system and 105.26% higher than bare silicon with a thickness of 2330 nm. The design principle proposed in this work gives a guideline for choosing reasonable parameters in the application of solar cells.

In this work, we reported a controllable preparation of nanoporous Ni3S2 films by a simple solvothermal-assisted sulfuration of nickel foam. The pore size can be easily adjusted by controlling the sulfuration time. Electrochemical tests show that the specific capacitance and the cycling performance of the Ni3S2 films were sensitive to their pore size. The Ni3S2 films with optimal pore size demonstrate a high specific capacitance (3.42 F/cm2 at 1 mA/cm2) and excellent cycling stability (about 102% after 4250 cycles at 7.5 mA/cm2). By contrast, the Ni3S2 films with either too large or too small pore size show much lower capacitance and relatively worse cycling stability. An asymmetric supercapacitor by using the optimal Ni3S2 film as the positive electrode and activated carbon coated on Ni foam as the negative electrode was also successfully assembled, which exhibited a superior energy density of 41.8 Wh/kg at power density of 155 W/kg and a high capacitance retention of 76.6% after 2000 cycles.

It has been proved that item memory and source memory are two dissociable processes, as reflected by differential influence at behavioral and electrophysiological levels, the latter being evidenced by the ERP old/new effects. Specially for source memory, the retrieval of color source may be unique from recollecting other types of contextual information, which can be seen from the late posterior negativity (LPN). However, the mediation of emotional valence on the old/new effects for verbal stimuli encoded in colors remains unknown. Adopting words of three emotional valences (i.e., positive, neutral, and negative), with their displayed colors serving as sources, the current experiment aimed to explore the sensitivity of old/new effects to emotion for both item memory and source memory. Results demonstrated that: the FN400 that reflects familiarity was recorded and it was sensitive to emotional valence across both memory tasks; the mediation of emotional valence was absent in recollection-reflected LPC, neither for item memory nor for source memory; an association between LPN and color source retrieval was confirmed, with reliable amplitudes for neutral words but not for emotional words. These data were discussed in terms of the dual-process model and other accounts. Future research directions were recommended.

L-Alanine has important applications in food, pharmaceutical and veterinary and is used as a substrate for production of engineered thermoplastics. Microbial fermentation could reduce the production cost and promote the application of L-alanine. However, the presence of L-alanine significantly inhibit cell growth rate and cause a decrease in the ultimate L-alanine productivity. For efficient L-alanine production, a thermo-regulated genetic switch was designed to dynamically control the expression of L-alanine dehydrogenase (alaD) from Geobacillus stearothermophilus on the Escherichia coli B0016-060BC chromosome. The optimal cultivation conditions for the genetically switched alanine production using B0016-060BC were the following: an aerobic growth phase at 33 °C with a 1-h thermo-induction at 42 °C followed by an oxygen-limited phase at 42 °C. In a bioreactor experiment using the scaled-up conditions optimized in a shake flask, B0016-060BC accumulated 50.3 g biomass/100 g glucose during the aerobic growth phase and 96 g alanine/100 g glucose during the oxygen-limited phase, respectively. The L-alanine titer reached 120.8 g/l with higher overall and oxygen-limited volumetric productivities of 3.09 and 4.18 g/l h, respectively, using glucose as the sole carbon source. Efficient cell growth and L-alanine production were reached separately, by switching cultivation temperature. The results revealed the application of a thermo-regulated strategy for heterologous metabolic production and pointed to strategies for improving L-alanine production.

Objective The present work aimed to investigate the effects of AdipoRon against acute hepatitis and liver fibrosis induced by carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) in mice. Methods C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into five groups: control, model, AdipoRon groups (three different dosages), CCl4 was administered to induce acute hepatitis or liver fibrosis except for control group. The liver function, inflammatory and fibrotic profiles were evaluated by histology, immunohistochemistry and expression analysis, respectively. Results AdipoRon pretreatment effectively attenuated oxidative stress and hepatocellular damage in acute CCl4 intoxication, demonstrated by marked reduction in peroxidation indexes [hepatic malonaldehyde (MDA), total nitric oxide synthase (tNOS), inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS)] and serum transaminases [alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate transaminase (AST)]. Moreover, AdipoRon attenuated the severity of fibrosis induced by sustaining CCl4 challenge, with the alleviation of fibrous deposit and architecture distortion. The levels of canonical fibrosis markers (aminotransferases, hydroxyproline, hyaluronic acid, laminin) were also dose-dependently modulated by AdipoRon. Immunochemistry and expression analysis showed AdipoRon restrained the proinflammatory and profibrotic cytokines (TNF-α, TGF-β1, α-SMA, COL1A1), which somehow, ascribed the anti-fibrotic action to inhibiting hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) activation and quenching specific inflammation-fibrogenesis pathways. Conclusions AdipoRon demonstrates a remedial capacity against hepatitis and fibrosis induced by CCl4, potentially by inflammation restraint and HSC deactivation, which might pave the way for its therapeutical application in hepatic fibrosis.

A design of ultrathin crystalline silicon solar cell with Si3N4 circular truncated cone holes (CTCs) arrays on the top is proposed. In this article, we perform an optical simulation of the structure. The finite-difference time-domain method is used to calculate the optical absorption of different periods, radius of top and bottom circles and depth of Si3N4 CTCs. The short-circuit current density generated by the optimized cells (30.17 mA/cm2) is 32.44% more than the value gained by control group (with flat Si3N4). Then adding a layer of back silver to allow us to better analyze optical absorption. Later, we simulate the optimization of the same configuration of different silicon thicknesses and find that our structure does enhance the light absorption. This work uses a combined path towards achieving higher photocurrent ultrathin crystalline silicon solar cells by constructing the texture of anti-reflection coating.

An InGaAs/AlGaAs quantum-well laser structure was grown on a silicon substrate by adopting a three-step grown thin (1.8 μm) and simple buffer layer. The whole structure was grown by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition. The material quality was characterized by transmission electron microscopy, photoluminescence spectra, and electrochemical capacitance–voltage profiler. It shows that the threading dislocation density and interface roughness are effectively reduced, and the active region's optical properties grown on a silicon substrate are comparable to that grown on a GaAs substrate. Broad stripe lasers have also been fabricated. The cavity length and stripe width are 1 mm and 15 μm, respectively. An extremely low-threshold current density of 313 A/cm 2 has been achieved under pulsed condition at room temperature. Meanwhile, the laser can operate under continuous wave condition at the temperature of 240 K. The above results make us more confident for realizing better performance of Si-based III–V semiconductor lasers by further improvement of the material growth method.

Because of the existence of “loads second time effect” in reinforceing damaged internal pressure steel pipeline without prestressed FRP, the fiber cannot fully play it’s advantage of high strength. Prestressed FRP is one of the effective ways to solve this problem. According to the BFRP reinforcement of damaged internal pressure steel pipeline, this paper designed a set of the circumferential prestress stretching and anchoring integral anchorage. And tested the conversion relation between torque and stress of BFRP sheet.

Ultrathin crystalline silicon solar cells are a promising technology roadmap to achieve more cost effectiveness. However, experimental reports on ultrathin crystalline silicon cells with thickness less than 20 µm are rare. Here, we experimentally fabricate and investigate ultrathin monocrystalline silicon solar cells consisting of 16 µm-silicon base thickness and low-cost front random pyramidal texture with the feature size of 1-2 µm. The normalized light absorption is calculated to explain the measured external quantum efficiency. The achieved efficiency is 15.1% for the single-layer passivated textured solar cell. In addition, via double-layer passivation of Al2O3/SiNx, the efficiency is further increased to 16.4% for the best textured cell, which significantly improves the absolute efficiency with Δη = 1.3%.

The purpose of the paper is study the tunnel air environment adjustment. We built a set-up according to the similarity law. Temperature, air flow velocity, and the humidity in the model tunnel were measured using a measurement system. Experimental data were obtained under the ventilation duct at the top of the tunnel. The results show that adjusting velocity and humidity of the supply air flow can satisfy the Safety Regulation for Metal and No-metal Mines.

We report a structural design of ultrathin perovskite solar cells based on a conformal structure at the rear surface for potential applications in both single-junction and tandem cells. The light transmittances of the front and the rear surfaces are calculated in the wavelength range of 300–800 nm via the finite difference time domain numerical simulation method. Compared with the reference cell, significant photocurrent density enhancement of 27.5% and 29.7% are achieved when the ratios of height to width of the fluorine doped tin oxide nanoblock are 2 and 3, respectively. For the case with a hole transport material layer, the enhancements of photocurrent density enhancements are 19.2% and 29.0%, respectively. When back Au is removed, the photocurrent density also has notable enhancements of 23.3% and 45.9%, respectively. The achieved results are beneficial for the development of efficient ultrathin single-junction and tandem perovskite solar cells.

Considering the ever‐growing usage of trivalent salts in water treatment, for example, lanthanum salts in rare earth, AlCl3 and FeCl3, the effects of different trivalent cations on the bacterium Escherichia coli (E. coli) ATCC 11775 strain have been studied in aqueous solutions. From colony incubation studies, the colony‐forming unit (CFU) densities were found to decrease significantly in the presence of even low levels (10−5 mol/L) of lanthanum chloride. This level of reduction in CFU number is comparable to the results obtained using the known bacteriocidal cationic surfactant, C14 TAB. By comparison, exposure of the cells to low levels of trivalent ion, aluminum and chromium ion solutions produced only modest reductions in CFU density. The results from the incubation studies suggest that the bacteriostatic mechanism of La3+ ions has similarities to that of the cationic surfactant, and different to that of the other trivalent ions. Size distribution and zeta potential measurements of E. coli cells and phospholipid vesicles in the presence of trivalent cations solutions suggested significant cell shrinkage probably caused by membrane disruption.

Analysis of membrane proteins, particularly integral membrane proteins, still presents a great challenge due to their poor water solubility and low abundance though much effort has been devoted to the solubilization and enrichment of the protein class. In this paper, a two-phase, on-membrane digestion method was developed and applied in the analysis of rat liver membrane proteome. The two-phase system was constituted by mixing n-butanol and 25 mM NH4HCO3. Comparative experiments indicated that the proteins on membranes could be digested in the two-phase system more efficiently than in both 60% methanol and 25 mM NH4HCO3 solutions under the same conditions, thereby improving the identification of the membrane proteins. When the established two-phase system and CapLC-MS/MS was used to analyze rat liver membrane proteome, a total of 411 membrane proteins were identified, more than 80% of which were transmembrane proteins with 1-12 mapped transmembrane domains (TMDs). Because of its extraction and dissolution actions, the two-phase on-membrane digestion system we developed could efficiently improve the digestion and removal of adsorbed nonmembrane proteins, and remarkably increase the number and coverage of identified membrane proteins, particularly the transmembrane proteins. Using our procedure to identify a complementary protein set from all fractions of the two-phase system could achieve a higher coverage of the membrane proteome.

The epitaxy of GaAs/Si(001) has been carried out via inserting different buffer layers and different SLSs by MOCVD. High quality epilayers were obtained by AlAs buffer layer and GaAs0.85P0.15/GaAs SLS.

Venomous animals possess an arsenal of toxins for predation and defense. These toxins have great diversity in function and structure as well as evolution and therefore are of value in both basic and applied research. Recently, toxinomics researches using cDNA library sequencing and proteomics profiling have revealed a large number of new toxins. Although several previous groups have attempted to manage these data, most of them are restricted to certain taxonomic groups and/or lack effective systems for data query and access. In addition, the description of the function and the classification of toxins is rather inconsistent resulting in a barrier against exchanging and comparing the data. Here, we report the ATDB database and website which contains more than 3235 animal toxins from UniProtKB/Swiss-Prot and TrEMBL and related toxin databases as well as published literature. A new ontology (Toxin Ontology) was constructed to standardize the toxin annotations, which includes 745 distinct terms within four term spaces. Furthermore, more than 8423 TO terms have been manually assigned to 2132 toxins by trained biologists. Queries to the database can be conducted via a user-friendly web interface at http://protchem.hunnu.edu.cn/toxin.

The growth of GaAs epilayers on silicon substrates with a thin amorphous silicon (a-Si) buffer layer by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition is investigated in detail. Combining with the two-step growth method, the growth conditions of the a-Si buffer layer are optimized for growth of high-quality GaAs/Si epilayers. The a-Si buffer layer exhibits the best effect with thickness of 1.8 nm and growth temperature of 620°C. It is found that the introduction of this a-Si layer on Si substrates effectively reduces the dislocation density in GaAs/Si films. As compared with the dislocation density of 5 × 107 cm−2 in the GaAs/Si sample without the a-Si layer, a density of 3 × 105 cm−2 is achieved in the sample with the a-Si layer, and the defect reduction mechanism is discussed in detail.

The growth of GaAs epilayers on silicon substrates with multiple layers of InAs quantum dots (QDs) as dislocation filters by metalorganic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD) is investigated in detail. The growth conditions of single and multiple layers of QDs used as dislocation filters in GaAs/Si epilayers are optimized. It is found that the insertion of a five-layer InAs QDs into the GaAs buffer layer effectively reduces the dislocation density of GaAs/Si film. Compared with the dislocation density of 5×107 cm−2 in the GaAs/Si sample without QDs, a density of 2×106 cm−2 is achieved in the sample with QD dislocation filters.

In this study, metamorphic growth of GaAs on Si(001) substrate was investigated via three-step growth in a low-pressure metal organic chemical vapor deposition reactor. Three-step growth was achieved by simply inserting an intermediate temperature GaAs layer between the low temperature GaAs nucleation layer and the high temperature GaAs epilayer. Compared with conventional two-step growth, three-step growth could further reduce surface roughness and etch pit density. By combining three-step growth with thermal-cycle annealing, the authors have grown a 1.8-μm-thick GaAs epilayer with root mean square roughness of only 1.8 and 0.73 nm in 10 × 10 μm2 and 2 × 2 μm2 scanning areas, respectively. The threading dislocation density of the 1.8-μm-thick GaAs epilayer was as low as 1.1 × 107 cm−2, as calculated directly from the double crystal x-ray diffraction ω-scan full width at half maximum of the GaAs diffraction peak. The corresponding etch pit density was only 3 × 106 cm−2.
