Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) have emerged as a predominant threat to human health, surpassing the incidence and mortality rates of neoplastic diseases. Extracellular vesicles (EVs) serve as vital mediators in intercellular communication and material exchange. Endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs), recognized as precursors of vascular endothelial cells (ECs), have garnered considerable attention in recent years due to the potential therapeutic value of their derived extracellular vesicles (EPC-EVs) in the context of CVDs. This comprehensive review systematically explores the origins, characteristics, and functions of EPCs, alongside the classification, properties, biogenesis, and extraction techniques of EVs, with particular emphasis on their protective roles in CVDs. Additionally, we delve into the essential bioactive components of EPC-EVs, including microRNAs, long non-coding RNAs, and proteins, analyzing their beneficial effects in promoting angiogenesis, anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant activities, anti-fibrosis, anti-apoptosis, and myocardial regeneration. Furthermore, this review comprehensively investigates the therapeutic potential of EPC-EVs across various CVDs, encompassing acute myocardial infarction, myocardial ischemia–reperfusion injury, atherosclerosis, non-ischemic cardiomyopathies, and diabetic cardiovascular disease. Lastly, we summarize the potential challenges associated with the clinical application of EPC-EVs and outline future directions, aiming to offer a valuable resource for both theoretical insights and practical applications of EPC-EVs in managing CVDs. Background: Bile duct leaks (BDLs) are serious complications that occurs after hepatobiliary surgery and trauma, leading to rapid clinical deterioration. Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) is the first-line treatment for BDLs, but it is not clear which patients will respond to this therapy and which patients will require additional surgical intervention. The aim of our study was to explore the predictors of successful ERCP for BDLs. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted using data from six centers' databases. All consecutive patients who were clinically confirmed as BDLs were included in the study. Collected data were demographics, disease severity, and ERCP procedure characteristics. Univariate and multivariate analysis were used to select independent predictive factors that affect the outcome of ERCP for BDLs, and a nomogram was established. Calibration and ROC curves were used to evaluate the models. Results: Four hundred and forty-eight consecutive patients were clinically confirmed as BDLs and 347 were excluded. In the 101 patients included patients, clinical success was achieved in 78 patients (77.2%). In logistic multivariable regression, two independent factors were negatively associated with the success of ERCP: SIRS (OR, 0.183; 95% CI 0.039–0.864; P = 0.032) and high-grade leak (OR 0.073; 95% CI 0.010–0.539; P = 0.010). Two independent factors were positively associated with the success of ERCP: leak-bridging drainage (OR 4.792; 95% CI 1.08–21.21; P = 0.039) and cystic duct leak (OR 6.193; 95% CI 1.03–37.17; P = 0.046). The prediction model with these four factors was evaluated using a receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curve, which demonstrated an area under the curve of 0.9351. The calibration curve showed that the model had good predictive accuracy. Conclusion: Leak-bridging drainage and cystic duct leak are positive predictors for the success of ERCP, while SIRS and high-grade leak are negative predictors. Mosquitoes are of great medical significance as vectors of many deadly diseases. Mitogenomes have been widely used in phylogenetic studies, but mitogenome knowledge within the family Culicidae is limited, and Culicidae phylogeny is far from resolved. In this study, we surveyed the mitogenomes of 149 Culicidae species, including 7 newly sequenced species. Comparative analysis of 149 mosquito mitogenomes shows gene composition and order to be identical to that of an ancestral insect, and the AT bias, length variation, and codon usage are all consistent with that of other reported Dipteran mitogenomes. Phylogenetic analyses based on the DNA sequences of the 13 protein‐coding genes from the 149 species robustly support the monophyly of the subfamily Anophelinae and the tribes Aedini, Culicini, Mansoniini, Sabethini, and Toxorhynchitini. To resolve ambiguous relationships between clades within the subfamily Culicinae, we performed topological tests and show that Aedini is a sister to Culicini and that Uranotaeniini is a sister to (Mansoniini + (Toxorhynchitini + Sabethini)). In addition, we estimated divergence times using a Bayesian relaxation clock based on the sequence data and 3 fossil calibration points. The results show mosquitoes diverged during the Early Jurassic with massive Culicinae radiations during the Cretaceous, coincident with the emergence of angiosperms and the burst of mammals and birds. Overall, this study, which uses the largest number of Culicidae mitogenomes sequenced to date, comprehensively reveals the mitogenome characteristics and mitogenome‐based phylogeny and divergence times of Culicidae, providing information for further studies on the mitogenome, phylogeny, evolution, and taxonomic revision of Culicidae. In this work, porous Ti‐15Mo scaffolds with different porosity gradient structures (uniform gradient structures [U‐BCC], level gradient structures [LG‐BCC], and vertical gradient structures [VG‐BCC]) were fabricated by selective laser melting, and the corrosion fatigue testing in Hank's solution was conducted for the first time. The fatigue strength order, when considering the same fatigue life, follows the sequence of LG‐BCC structure > U‐BCC structure > VG‐BCC structure. Cyclic ratcheting is a prominent factor leading to fatigue failure. The sequence of crack initiation and propagation in the latter stage of corrosion fatigue can be listed as follows: LG‐BCC structure < U‐BCC structure < VG‐BCC structure. During the corrosion fatigue process, the grain refinement occurs, and the deformation twinning is generated, leading to a dissipation of energy and an increase of the fatigue resistance. The corrosive effect of Hank's solution induces the surface roughening of the sample, accelerating crack initiation and propagation. Purpose Design Methods Results Conclusion To explore the association between progressive peripapillary capillary vessel density (pcVD) reduction and the progression of visual field (VF) impairment in individuals with normal tension glaucoma (NTG).Prospective cohort study.The study enrolled 110 participants with one eye each, totalling 110 NTG eyes. VF defects were evaluated using standard automated perimetry mean deviation (MD), while pcVD measurements were obtained using optical coherence tomography angiography throughout the follow‐up period. Estimates of VF progression were determined by event‐based and trend‐based analyses. Fast VF progression was defined as an MD slope steeper than −0.5 dB/year, while the slow progression or stable VF was defined as an MD slope better or equal to −0.25 dB/year. Linear mixed‐effects models were employed to analyse the rates of change in pcVD reduction and VF MD decline over time. Additionally, univariable and multivariable linear models were used to examine the relationship between pcVD changes and VF loss rates in NTG.Slow VF progression or stable VF was observed in 45% of subjects, while 25% had moderate progression and 30% showed fast progression. Patients with VF progression exhibited faster rate of pcVD reduction in peripapillary global region (−0.73 ± 0.40%/year vs. −0.56 ± 0.35%/year, p = 0.022). Moreover, this rate positively correlated with VF MD decline in NTG (estimate 0.278, 95% CI 0.122–0.433, p = 0.001).In individuals with NTG, faster VF progression was linked to a quicker reduction in pcVD, suggesting a positive correlation between pcVD decline and VF deterioration. Resveratrol (RSV), obtained from dietary sources, has been shown to reduce trimethylamine oxide (TMAO) levels in humans, and much research indicates that TMAO is recognized as a risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Therefore, this study investigated the effects of RSV and RSV-butyrate esters (RBE) on the proliferation of co-cultured bacteria and HepG2 cell lines, respectively, and also investigated the changes in trimethylamine (TMA) and TMOA content in the medium and flavin-containing monooxygenase-3 (FMO3) gene expression. This study revealed that 50 µg/mL of RBE could increase the population percentage of Bifidobacterium longum at a rate of 53%, while the rate was 48% for Clostridium asparagiforme. In contrast, co-cultivation of the two bacterial strains effectively reduced TMA levels from 561 ppm to 449 ppm. In addition, regarding TMA-induced HepG2 cell lines, treatment with 50 μM each of RBE, 3,4′-di-O-butanoylresveratrol (ED2), and 3-O-butanoylresveratrol (ED4) significantly reduced FMO3 gene expression from 2.13 to 0.40–1.40, which would also contribute to the reduction of TMAO content. This study demonstrated the potential of RBE, ED2, and ED4 for regulating TMA metabolism in microbial co-cultures and cell line cultures, which also suggests that the resveratrol derivative might be a daily dietary supplement that will be beneficial for health promotion in the future. Accurately evaluating particle surface micro-texture levels and distribution at different wavelength scales of granular material is critical to optimise service stability of granular material under long-term dynamic loads. Firstly, generalised regression neural network (GRNN) and empirical mode decomposition (EMD) were adopted to impute missing data points and remove the arc-shaped tendency of granular materials' particle wear raw surface profile. Then, granular materials' particle surface micro-texture levels and their distribution within constant bandwidth narrow band spectrum and octave/fractional octave band spectrum were obtained with spectral analysis method, which could characterise granular materials' particle surface properties at different wavelength scales. Fourteen types of parent rocks of granular materials were tested with a modified micro tribological experiment simulating tribological behaviour among particle contact interfaces under dynamic loads. A contrastive analysis with traditionally used surface mean roughness was performed. The results indicate that the micro-texture levels and their distribution obtained in this study can detect the level of the exact texture scales (i.e. 32 and 2 μm wavelengths) significantly influencing the kinetic friction coefficient of granular materials, while surface mean roughness can only represent the global surface property. Summary: The objective of this research was to investigate and compare the effect of rapeseed oil, 0.5% β‐cyclodextrin (β‐CD) and rapeseed oil/0.5% β‐cyclodextrin coating on egg quality attributes during storage for 28 days at 25 °C. Egg quality attributes such as weight loss (WL), air cell depth and diameter, Haugh unit (HU), albumen pH, yolk index and colour, eggshell strength and morphology were monitored. Similar initial quality attributes of control, rapeseed oil, 0.5% β‐CD and rapeseed oil/0.5% β‐cyclodextrin‐coated eggs were obtained at day 0. Control (uncoated) and β‐CD‐coated eggs had the worst WL, air cell diameter, air cell depth, albumen pH and a* values after storage for 28 days at 25 °C, while the rapeseed oil/0.5% β‐cyclodextrin‐coated eggs had lower values of air cell diameter (18.20 mm), air cell depth (7.20 mm) and albumin pH (9.12), higher eggshell breaking strength (51.21 N) and a*(25.33). At day 7 and 21, the best quality attributes were obtained by rapeseed oil/0.5% β‐cyclodextrin‐coated eggs, being respectively: WL, yolk index and L*. Less obvious micro‐cracks on the eggshell surface were detected especially in rapeseed oil/0.5% β‐cyclodextrin‐coated eggs, which maintained slightly improved egg quality attributes during storage. Diversification rates are critically important for understanding patterns of species richness among clades. However, the effects of climatic niche width on plant diversification rates remain to be elucidated. Based on the phylogenetic, climatic, and distributional information of angiosperms in China, a total of 26 906 species from 182 families were included in this study. We aimed to test relationships between diversification rate and climatic niche width and climatic niche width related variables (including climatic niche divergence, climatic niche position, geographic extent, and climatic niche evolutionary rate) using phylogenetic methods. We found that climatic niche divergence had the largest unique contribution to the diversification rate, while the unique effects of climatic niche width, climatic niche position, geographic extent, and climatic niche evolutionary rate on the diversification rate were negligible. We also observed that the relationship between diversification rate and climatic niche divergence was significantly stronger than the null assumption (artefactual relationship between diversification and clade‐level climatic niche width by sampling more species). Our study supports the hypothesis that wider family climatic niche widths explain faster diversification rates through a higher climatic niche divergence rather than through higher geographic extent, higher climatic niche evolutionary rate, or separated climatic niche position. MicroRNA (miR)-143-3p is a potential regulatory molecule in myocardial ischemia/reperfusion injury (MI/RI), wherein its expression and pathological effects remains controversial. Thus, a mouse MI/RI and cell hypoxia/reoxygenation (H/R) models were built for clarifying the miR-143-3p's role in MI/RI. Following myocardial ischemia for 30 min, mice underwent reperfusion for 3, 6, 12 and 24 h. It was found miR-143-3p increased in the ischemic heart tissue over time after reperfusion. Cardiomyocytes transfected with miR-143-3p were more susceptible to apoptosis. Mechanistically, miR-143-3p targeted B cell lymphoma 2 (bcl-2). And miR-143-3p inhibition reduced cardiomyocytes apoptosis upon H/R, whereas it was reversed by a specific bcl-2 inhibitor ABT-737. Of note, miR-143-3p inhibition upregulated bcl-2 with better mitochondrial membrane potential (Δψm), reduced cytoplasmic cytochrome c (cyto-c) and caspase proteins, and minimized infarction area in mice upon I/R. Collectively, inhibition of miR-143-3p might alleviate MI/RI via targeting bcl-2 to limit mitochondria-mediated apoptosis. To our knowledge, this study further clarifies the miR-143-3p's pathological role in the early stages of MI/RI, and inhibiting miR-143-3p could be an effective treatment for ischemic myocardial disease. Objective: Cervical fractures with ankylosing spondylitis (CAS) are a specific type of spinal fracture with poor stability, low healing rate, and high disability rate. Its treatment is mainly surgical, predominantly through the anterior approach, posterior approach, and the anterior–posterior approach. Although many clinical studies have been conducted on various surgical approaches, controversy still exists concerning the choice of these surgical approaches by surgeons. The authors present here a systematic evaluation and meta-analysis exploring the utility of the anterior–posterior approach versus the anterior approach and the posterior approach. Methods: After a comprehensive literature search of PubMed, Cochrane, Web of Science, and Embase databases, 12 clinical studies were included in the final qualitative analysis and 8 in the final quantitative analysis. Of these studies, 11 conducted a comparison between the anterior–posterior approach and the anterior approach and posterior approaches, while one examined only the anterior–posterior approach. Where appropriate, statistical advantage ratios and 95% confidence intervals were calculated. Results: The present meta-analysis of postoperative neurological improvement showed no statistical difference in the overall neurological improvement rate between the anterior–posterior approach and anterior approach (OR 1.70, 95% CI 0.61 to 4.75; p = 0.31). However, the mean change in postoperative neurological function was lower in patients who received the anterior approach than in those who received the anterior–posterior approach (MD 0.17, 95% CI -0.02 to 0.36; p = 0.08). There was an identical trend between the anterior–posterior approach and posterior approach, with no statistically significant difference in the overall rate of neurological improvement (OR 1.37, 95% CI 0.70 to 2.56; p = 0.38). Nevertheless, the mean change in neurological function was smaller in patients receiving the anterior–posterior approach compared with the posterior approach, but there was no statistically significant difference between the two (MD 0.17, 95% CI -0.02 to 0.36; p = 0.08). Conclusions: The results of this review and meta-analysis suggest that the benefits of the anterior–posterior approach are different from those of the anterior and posterior approaches in the treatment of ankylosing spondylitis-related cervical fractures. In a word, there is no significant difference between the cervical surgical approach and the neurological functional improvement. Therefore, surgeons should pay more attention to the type of cervical fracture, the displacement degree of cervical fracture, the spinal cord injury, the balance of cervical spine and other aspects to comprehensively consider the selection of appropriate surgical methods. With the rapid development of the energy industry and the growth of the global energy demand in recent years, the development of the photovoltaic industry has become increasingly significant. However, the development of the PV industry is constrained by high land costs, and land in central cities and industrial areas is often very expensive and unsuitable for the installation of PV equipment in large areas. With this background knowledge, the key to evaluating the PV potential is by counting the rooftop information of buildings, and an ideal solution for extracting building rooftop information is from remote sensing satellite images using the deep learning method; however, the deep learning method often requires large-scale labeled samples, and the labeling of remote sensing images is often time-consuming and expensive. To reduce the burden of data labeling, models trained on large datasets can be used as pre-trained models (e.g., ImageNet) to provide prior knowledge for training. However, most of the existing pre-trained model parameters are not suitable for direct transfer to remote sensing tasks. In this paper, we design a pseudo-label-guided self-supervised learning (PGSSL) semantic segmentation network structure based on high-resolution remote sensing images to extract building information. The pseudo-label-guided learning method allows the feature results extracted by the pretext task to be more applicable to the target task and ultimately improves segmentation accuracy. Our proposed method achieves better results than current contrastive learning methods in most experiments and uses only about 20–50% of the labeled data to achieve comparable performance with random initialization. In addition, a more accurate statistical method for building density distribution is designed based on the semantic segmentation results. This method addresses the last step of the extraction results oriented to the PV potential assessment, and this paper is validated in Beijing, China, to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method. Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) accounts for nearly 90% of oral cavity malignancies. However, despite significant advances in the last four decades, little improvement has been achieved in the overall survival rates for OSCC patients. While gambogic acid (GA) is a potential candidate compound for treating a variety of malignancies, its anti-cancer impact on OSCC has not to be completely investigated. The tumor immune microenvironment (TIME) has been proven to play a crucial role in the prognosis of cancer patients. Although there are few reports on the T cell activation effect of GA, the regulation of GA on the TIME of OSCC has barely been studied yet. In this study, GA was applied to treat OSCC-bearing mice through in situ controlled release. First, GA-loaded mPEG 2000 -PCL micelles (GA-MIC) were prepared by the thin-film hydration method to improve the aqueous dispersibility of GA. Second, poly(D, l -lactide)-poly(ethylene glycol)-poly(D, l -lactide) (PLEL) was synthesized for thermosensitive hydrogel preparation. Third, GA-MIC was mixed with PLEL to form an injectable therapeutic hydrogel (GA-MIC-GEL). The anti-tumor and TIME regulation effects of GA-MIC-GEL on tumor-bearing mice were further examined. The results showed that the thermosensitive GA-MIC-GEL with sensitive sol-gel transition characteristics could form hydrogel at 37 °C within 24 s, facilitating the local delivery and sustained GA release. Biochemical, hematological, and pathological analysis proved that GA-MIC-GEL has good biological safety. Moreover, GA-MIC-GEL promoted an obvious regression of both primary and distant tumors on the OSCC mouse models. Mechanically, GA-MIC-GEL down-regulated the expression of PD-1, increased the frequency of cytotoxic T cells and reduced the immunosuppressive cellular components, which boosted the anti-tumor immunity of OSCC-bearing mice. The constructed thermosensitive hydrogel for local delivery of GA has provided a safe and effective strategy with great potential for OSCC therapy. A combined in situ electrochemical attenuated total reflection-surface enhanced IR absorption spectroscopy, microkinetic simulation, and density functional theory calculation study shows that not only can the adsorbed sulfide disproportionally affect the surface binding of OOH* (EOOH*) vs OH* (EOH*), i.e., breaking the original scaling relationship of pure metals (Ir, Pd, Pt, Au), to enhance oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) activity but can also be used as a reaction pathway alternating species to help deepen our mechanistic understanding of ORR. Using orchid mycorrhizal fungi (OMFs) to facilitate orchid proliferation is considered an effective method of orchid conservation. Based on the success of using in situ seedling baiting to obtain plant growth-promoting fungi in our previous study, in this study, we developed the method of using ex situ seedling baiting to capture seedling-associated fungi from Dendrobium officinale. We collected substrates (e.g., litters, barks and mosses) from six original habitats of D. officinale in different geographical locations in China, and then, transplanted in vitro-produced seedlings of D. officinale into the substrates. After cultivation for 75 days, it was obvious that fungi colonized the seedling roots and formed large numbers of pelotons in all six groups. From these seedling roots, a total of 251 fungal strains, which were divided into 16 OMF and 11 non-OMF species, were successfully isolated. The 16 OMFs included 13 Tulasnella and 3 Serendipitaceae species. The fungal species isolated from the different groups (original habitat sources) were not identical, but the dominant OMFs with high isolation frequencies (more than 10 times) were commonly isolated from more than four original sources. Among the 11 non-OMFs, Fusarium oxysporum TP-18 and Muscodor sp. TP-26 were the dominant endophytes. Fusarium oxysporum is a common endophyte associated with many orchid species, including D. officinale. The results suggest that ex situ seedling baiting is an easy and efficient approach to obtaining seedling-associated fungi for this species and could be performed for other over-collected species, especially orchids for which wild plants have disappeared in the field but their original habitats are known. The Zuluhong quartz-vein-type polymetallic deposit, located in the Alatau area of Western Tianshan, China, is a particular and typical tungsten deposit associated with copper. This paper presents major and trace element analyses of magmatic and altered (i.e, chloritized) biotite from the deposit, in order to identify the source of the magmas and characterize the mineralization physical-chemical condition. Magmatic biotite is Fe-rich and has high Rb/Ba ratios (0.27–9.14), indicative of extensive differentiation of granite. Moreover, magmatic biotite has total rare earth element (∑REE) contents that are 5–10% of the whole-rock contents, shows slight light REE depletion, and negative Ce anomalies. Magmatic biotite is enriched in some large-ion lithophile elements (LILE; e.g., Rb and K) and depleted in some high-field-strength elements (HFSE; e.g., Th and Nb). These geochemical features, coupled with geological evidence, indicate that the Zuluhong intrusion is a highly fractionated I-type granite derived from lower crustal melting. During ore formation, magmatic biotite was partially to totally altered to chlorite due to interaction with ore-forming fluids. The temperature and oxygen fugacity decreased during alteration. The mineralization in the Zuluhong polymetallic deposit can be divided into at least two stages. In the early stage, quartz-vein-type wolframite mineralization formed from Si- and volatile-rich fluids that were derived from fractionated granitic magma. In the later stage, W–Cu ores formed as metal sulfides were dominated by chalcopyrite. The later ore-forming fluids experienced a decrease in temperature and oxygen fugacity as they reacted (i.e, chloritization and lesser silicification) with reducing wall rocks around the contact zone of the intrusion. Sensing of benzene vapor is a hot spot due to the volatile drastic carcinogen even at trace concentration. However, achieving convenient and rapid detection is still a challenge. As a sort of functional porous material, metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) have been developed as detection sensors by adsorbing benzene vapor and converting it into other signals (fluorescence intensity/wavelength, chemiresistive, weight or color, etc.). Supramolecular interaction between benzene molecules and the host framework, aperture size/shape and structural flexibility are influential factors in the performance of MOF‐based sensors. Therefore, enhancing the host‐guest interactions between the host framework and benzene molecules, or regulating the diffusion rate of benzene molecules by changing the aperture size/shape and flexibility of the host framework to enhance the detection signal are effective strategies for constructing MOF‐based sensors. In this paper, the reliability of super-junction MOSFET under single-pulse Unclamped Inductive Switching (UIS) was simulated using Sentaurus TCAD software. Through simulation of etching source metal, it was proved that the conduction of parasitic bipolar transistor in parallel multi-cell structure is the main cause of temperature concentration leading to burnout. The method of reinforcing super-junction MOSFET is proposed by using the conduction of parasitic transistors as the criterion for evaluating UIS performance. In the proposed two-layer alternating PN column stack structure, the upper PN columns have a charge imbalance structure with a higher p-column concentration than the n-column. The simulation results show that the improved structure has higher avalanche energy and wider process variation range compared to the traditional structure. Compared with the traditional device, the improved device achieves a continuous avalanche duration of 1.3 × 10−3 s and an avalanche robustness of 8.24 joules (J) when the parasitic bipolar transistor is non-conductive, significantly reducing the process difficulty by increasing the P-base concentration deviation to 5.8 × 1017 cm−3 under the same avalanche duration range. • The UIS burnout mechanism of SIC super-junction MOSFET is mainly due to the uneven current and temperature distribution caused by parasitic transistor conduction, which leads to device burnout. • The UIS performance of the proposed silicon carbide layered super-junction MOSFET has been significantly improved. • The improved performance of UIS is mainly due to the hierarchical non-uniform structure which restrains parasitic transistor conduction without sacrificing breakdown voltage. Introduction: Huntington´s disease (HD) is an autosomal dominant neurodegenerative disorder characterized by progressive motor, cognitive and psychiatric dysfunction. HD prevalence in Panama or in Central America is unknown. This will be the first report in Panamá about HD. Metodology: The objective is to estimate HD prevalence in Panamanian population. A retrospective, descriptive study of patients with HD between 2007 and 2021 was conducted. Panamanians > 15 years, 1 case per family, with typical clinical symptoms, with or without family history, brain magnetic resonance and positive genetic test and then included in the National registry of Huntington Disease. Results: Eleven index cases were presented, 6 women. The mean age was 40 years (range 23-63), median 43±12.4, sex ratio was 5:6, the onset age was 29 years (range 14-43), median 27±11.13.3 cases in young patients. 91 symptomatic cases out of 185 relatives, with a dominant paternal transmission, all heterozygous. Normal allele between 13-23 CAG repetitions, while the mutant allele ranges between 41 and 59 CAG repetitions. Conclusions: This is the first HD report in Panamanian population, with a low estimated prevalence of 0.25 x 100,000. Improved insight into the molecular mechanisms of triple negative breast cancer (TNBC) is required to predict prognosis and develop a new therapeutic strategy for targeted genes. The aim of this study is to identify key genes which may affect the prognosis of TNBC patients by bioinformatic analysis. In our study, the RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) expression data of 116 breast cancer lacking ER, PR, and HER2 expression and 113 normal tissues were downloaded from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA). We screened out 147 differentially co-expressed genes in TNBC compared to non-cancerous tissue samples by using weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) and differential gene expression analysis. Then, Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analyses were constructed, revealing that 147 genes were mainly enriched in nuclear division, chromosomal region, ATPase activity, and cell cycle signaling. After using Cytoscape software for protein-protein interaction (PPI) network analysis and LASSO feature selection, a total of fifteen key genes were identified. Among them, BUB1 and CENPF were significantly correlated with the overall survival rate (OS) difference of TNBC patients (p value < 0.05). In addition, BUB1, CCNA2, and PACC1 showed significant poor disease-free survival (DFS) in TNBC patients (p value < 0.05), and may serve as candidate biomarkers in TNBC diagnosis. Zhi-Ke-Bao pills (ZKB), a traditional Chinese medicine preparation composed of 13 herbs, is generally used to treat cough caused by external wind cold, phlegm, etc in clinical applications, and it plays a core role in relieving cough caused by COVID-19 and influenza in China. Till now, the understanding of its chemical constituents was dramatically limited due to its chemical complexity, restricting its clinical application or development. In this work, a developed ultra-high performance liquid chromatography coupled to quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UPLC-Q/TOF MS) method, a targeted and non-targeted strategy and network pharmacology were used to comprehensively characterize the chemical compositions in ZKB and predict its mechanism against cough. A total of 164 compounds (148 targeted compounds and 16 non-targeted ones) were identified or tentatively characterized in ZKB, including 65 flavonoids, 25 alkaloids, 19 organic acids, 41 saponins, 9 coumarins, 2 phenylpropanoids, 2 anthraquinones, and 1 other types. Among them, 37 compounds were unambiguously identified by comparison to reference standards. Meanwhile, the fragmentation behaviors of five main chemical structure types were also summarized. 309 targets and two core signaling pathways of ZKB against cough were predicted by network pharmacology, including MAPK and PI3K-Akt signaling pathways. Spray polyurea (SPUA) has been proven to be an excellent retrofitted material for MIWs to improve their blast resistance. Aiming to study the dynamic behaviors of brick MIWs under far-field range blast loads, the successive blast tests on seven unreinforced and SPUA-retrofitted brick MIWs with different thicknesses and boundary constraints were first carried out based on the developed compressed air-driven large cross-section (3m×3 m) shock tube. It was indicated that the blast resistance of MIWs significantly improved by increasing wall thickness and strengthening boundary constraint; SPUA coating can improve the blast resistance of MIWs and effectively suppress the debris generation and splash. Then, the equivalent single degree of freedom model based theoretical calculation and the simplified micro-model based numerical simulation methods previously established by authors were briefly introduced. Additionally, the dynamic behaviors of seven examined MIWs were further predicted and compared with test results, which verified the applicability of theoretical calculation and numerical simulation methods. Finally, the improved damage and failure evaluation criteria of unreinforced and SPUA-retrofitted MIWs were given, and the charge weight and standoff distance diagrams of typical MIWs were proposed based on the validated theoretical and numerical methods as well as the improved criteria, which would provide a helpful reference for blast-resistant evaluation and retrofitted design of brick MIWs. To meet the demands of white noise waves with different and higher energy spectral density, a new white noise wave generation method was proposed and a corresponding wave-making system controlled by a rotary valve was developed. The theoretical model of the new method was established, and the hydraulic transmission function of the wave-making system was solved. After the control parameters of the white noise waves in the wave-making system were obtained, the experiment tests were carried out to generate the white noise waves, and its energy spectral density was analyzed by Fourier analysis. The results show that white noise waves with different amplitudes have different energy spectral densities. And the energy spectral density of the generated waves is approximately a constant. Therefore, the present white noise wave generation method is feasible in marine engineering tests, and the wave with variable amplitude and higher energy spectral density can be generated. The high activity electrocatalysts with low cost are crucial for large-scale direct alcohol fuel cells (DAFCs) applications. In this study, the "self-doping-defects" mesoporous carbon (SDMC) as support of uniformly-dispersed Pd nanoparticles (Pd/SDMC) was prepared for high active electrooxidation by a simple route without additional surfactant and acid treatment. According to the mutually corroborated experimental and theoretical calculation results, our route can significantly increase the carbon defect, which is conducive to the anchoring and uniform distribution of Pd nanoparticles. Meanwhile, the uniquely and hierarchically mesoporous nanostructure of SDMC provides abundant pathways for mass transport in the electrooxidation reaction. Benefitting from the above advantages, Pd/SDMC exhibits superior activity than commercial Pd/C and previously reported carbon-based electrocatalysts. The mass activities and specific activities of Pd/SDMC toward ethanol oxidation reaction (EOR) are 3404.3 mA mg−1, 4.48 mA cm−2, respectively. Background. It has been reported that there may be a potential link between hernia and dementia. However, the exact mechanisms of their association have not been established. This study is aimed at constructing miRNA-mRNA networks to elucidate on the potential link between dementia and hernia. Methods. Gene expression profiles for dementia, herniation, and skeletal muscle were downloaded from the GEO database after which differentially expressed mRNAs and miRNAs were obtained. In addition, fascia tissue samples were obtained during surgery. A total of 41 patients were recruited in this study, and expression levels of candidate genes were examined using quantitative RT-PCR. Luciferase reporter gene assays were used to identify potential miRNA-mRNA regulatory pathways. Results. Differentially expressed mRNAs and miRNAs were screened. A potential miRNA-mRNA network revealing the crosstalk mechanism between herniation and dementia was identified. Single cell analysis revealed that PI16 was highly enriched in adipose tissues, skeletal muscles, and in the skin. GSEA enrichment analysis showed that PI16 is involved in adipose metabolism, muscle functions, and energy metabolism. In clinical samples, PI16 was found to be upregulated in hernia, while miR-4451 was found to be downregulated. The luciferase reporter gene assay revealed that downregulation of circulating miR-4451 may be responsible for the upregulated PI16 expression in hernia sacs. Conclusions. We constructed an miRNA-mRNA network that shows the potential association between dementia and hernia. As one of the research hotspots in the field of speech recognition, content-based speech retrieval algorithms can detect speech information with the same content features, which improves computer intelligence while reducing labor costs, and thus have been widely used. Although most of the current speech content retrieval algorithms can guarantee excellent retrieval performance for small-scale speech retrieval work, the performance of the above algorithms is greatly reduced under the constraints of large speech data storage space and high content redundancy. In order to solve the above problems, a high-performance speech BioHashing retrieval algorithm based on audio segmentation is proposed in this paper. The algorithm is divided into an offline pre-processing phase and an online retrieval phase, The offline pre-processing stage converts the speech data into BioHashing sequences with speech content characteristics. In this process, first of all, the Power-Normalized Cepstral Coefficients (PNCC) features of the speech data are extracted and biometric templates with single mapping keys are constructed according to the PNCC features, obtaining BioHashing sequences. Then, slice the original speeches into short-time audio segments according to the proposed audio segmentation algorithm, and the hash reconstruction operation is performed on the BioHashing sequences to obtain the reconstructed Hashing sequences for online retrieval. The online search phase responds to the users' query requests, just find the hash index that matches the query hash sequence from the BioHashing index table, and will the standardized editing distance (SED) to the closest 1 value corresponding to the hash index as the retrieval result back to the user. The experimental results show that the reconstructed hash sequences obtained after removing the silent redundant segments have better robustness and discrimination. An optimised design of pavement considering the noise reduction performance is desired to reduce the tyre/pavement noise. A cost-effective and user-friendly laboratory test method for measuring the tyre/pavement noise pressure spectrum is deemed necessary towards an optimised design taking into account the noise reduction performance. In this paper, a novel laboratory tyre/pavement noise measurement method, namely tyre rolling-down (TR) method, is developed to quantify the tyre/pavement noise pressure spectrum. The analysis of noise generation mechanism on TR shows that it is capable of simulating the tyre/pavement noise generated through tyre vibration and aerodynamic effect. The tyre/pavement noise wave band is identified by conducting an experiment where different mixture samples are compacted in laboratory to generate a reasonable range of tyre/pavement noise levels. In addition, a 2-Dimensional Image Texture Analysis Method (2D-ITAM) is applied to measure surface texture properties of these specimens, which are input parameters of the empirical rolling noise prediction models. The total A-weighting tyre/pavement noise pressure levels from TR are compared and verified with those from empirical rolling noise prediction models based on pavement surface texture spectrum and acoustic absorption coefficient. It is shown that TR results correlate well with those calculated from the prediction models and could be considered as an effective method to characterise tyre/pavement noise in laboratory during the stage of asphalt pavement design. The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy of tranexamic acid (TXA) in patients undergoing open-wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO). Patients from August 2018 to May 2020 were retrospectively studied. Clinical data were obtained including gender, age, height, weight, body mass index (BMI), smoking, alcohol consumption, hypertension, diabetes, history of aspirin, prepostoperative hematocrit (Hct) and hemoglobin (Hb), thrombotic events, blood transfusion requirement, hospital length of stay, size of osteotomy gap, and wound complications such as wound hematoma and infection. 52 patients were enrolled in the tranexamic acid group (TA group), and 48 patients were enrolled in the nontranexamic acid group (NTA group); there were no significant differences between both groups in terms of gender, age, BMI, preoperative Hb, size of osteotomy gap, incidence of smoking, alcohol consumption, hypertension, diabetes, history of aspirin, thrombotic events, blood transfusion requirement, and wound hematoma and infection. The mean hospital length of stay was 9.4 ± 1.0 days in the TA group and 11.0 ± 1.2 days in the NTA group (P < 0.001), the blood loss was 296.0 ± 128.7 ml in the TA group and 383.3 ± 181.3 ml in the NTA group (P < 0.05), and the postoperative Hb level was 120.8 ± 15.0 g/l in the TA group and 109.5 ± 13.8 g/l in the NTA group (P < 0.001). In conclusion, the administration of TXA is beneficial to patients undergoing OWHTO via decreasing hospital length of stay, reducing blood loss, and maintaining higher postoperative Hb levels. Radiation-chemical stability of ionic liquid [Hbet][Tf2N] has been investigated under gamma irradiation for Nd2O3 separation from simulated spent nuclear fuels. It was found that Nd2O3 dissolution decreases with increasing absorbed dose of [Hbet][Tf2N]. However, the dissolution ability of irradiated [Hbet][Tf2N] to Nd2O3 can be regenerated after washing with water. The radiolytic products of [Hbet][Tf2N] were identified by EMI–MS, and [Hbet]+ group occurred a little radiolysis during irradiation. The UV–Visible spectra shown an increase in absorption around 275 nm probably due to the radiolysis of [Hbet][Tf2N]. FTIR spectra shown little variation around 1730 cm−1 under high radiation dose. Objective: To investigate the effects of AMPK activation on mitochondrial inhibition by uremic serum through the AMPK-activated rat peritoneal macrophages stimulated by uremic serum, thereby providing a reference for the clinical treatment of chronic kidney disease. Methods: Twenty-two male Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were included as experimental subjects. Fifteen rats were constructed into chronic kidney disease models (the model group). The remaining seven rats only received renal capsule stripping instead of nephrectomy (the sham-operated group). Ten weeks after model construction, the bodyweight, blood biochemical indicators, and metabolic parameters of rats in groups were measured. Meanwhile, the expression of the M1 phenotype marker protein in peritoneal macrophages was determined. Results: Ten weeks after model construction, the bodyweight of rats in the model group was significantly lower than that in the sham-operated group. The values of urea nitrogen and serum creatinine were significantly higher than those in the sham-operated group (P<0.01). The levels of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-6 (IL-6), and the monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 (MCP-1) of rats in the model group were significantly higher than those in the sham-operated group (P <0.01). After the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) stimulation, the expressions of M1 phenotype marker mRNA in the model group was significantly increased. The expression of mitochondrial structural protein mRNA in the peritoneal macrophages of rats in the model group was significantly lower than that in the sham-operated group. The expression of M1 phenotype marker mRNA was significantly decreased in the uremic serum group after AMPK agonist (P<0.01). Conclusion: In rats with chronic renal insufficiency, mitochondrial regeneration was dysfunctional in macrophages. By activating AMPK, the inhibitory effect of uremia serum on mitochondrial regeneration of macrophages was improved. We shall study in this paper the convergence rates of the Tikhonov regularized solutions for the recovery of the radiativities in elliptic and parabolic systems in general dimensional spaces. The conditional stability estimates are first derived. Due to the difficulty of the verification of the existing source conditions or nonlinearity conditions of the inverse radiativity problems in high dimensional spaces, some new variational source conditions are proposed. The conditions are rigorously verified in general dimensional spaces under the conditional stability estimates. We will also derive the reasonable convergence rates under the new source conditions, and the results reveal the explicit relation between the regularity of the radiativities and the convergence rates. The purpose of the study was to identify patient characteristics related to blood loss following high tibial osteotomy (HTO). We evaluated 48 patients undergoing HTO from August 2018 to August 2019. The data of 48 patients were collected, including gender, age, height, weight, body mass index (BMI), smoking, alcohol consumption, hypertension, diabetes, history of aspirin, and pre-postoperative hematocrit (Hct). Multiple linear regression analysis was used to analyze the risk factors related to blood loss in HTO. The mean age of patients was 56.6 ± 10.2 years, including 22 males and 26 females. The mean BMI was 28.5 ± 4.2 kg / m 2 , and the mean blood loss volume was 383.3 ± 181.3 mL , 13 patients with smoking (27.1%), 15 patients with alcohol consumption (31.3%), 23 patients with hypertension (47.9%), 10 patients with diabetes mellitus (20.8%), and 12 patients with history of aspirin (25.0%). Multiple linear regression model suggested alcohol consumption and BMI were associated with blood loss in HTO, R 2 = 0.451 , F 9 , 38 = 3.462 (P < 0.05). The traditional asphalt mixture surface texture measurement methods cannot provide the distributions of the texture, which is necessary for studying the influence mechanism of texture on tyre/pavement interaction performance. A non-destructive 3-dimensional image-based texture analysis method (3D-ITAM) is developed based on the 3D surface reshaping and spectral analysis techniques. Mixture 3D surface is reshaped based on the photometric stereo method using the acquired tricolour digital images. Spectral indicators representing mixture surface texture distribution properties are calculated from 3D-ITAM software. Additionally, the traditional texture indicator (i.e. mean texture depth) is also calculated. The 3D-ITAM results are confirmed with both macro and micro-texture indicator values from the sand patch method (SPM) and hand-push friction tester (HFT), which are two widely used in practice though they cannot capture the distribution property of surf ace texture. To investigate the features of paramyxovirus respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), parainfluenza virus (PIV), and human metapneumovirus (HMPV) infection and determine the effect of meteorological conditions in Guangzhou, a subtropical region of southern China. We collected 11,398 respiratory samples from hospitalized pediatric patients with acute respiratory illness between July 2009 and June 2016 in Guangzhou. The samples were tested simultaneously for 18 respiratory pathogens using real-time PCR. Local meteorological data were also collected for correlation analysis. Of 11,398 patients tested, 5606 (49.2%) patients tested positive for one or more pathogens; RSV, PIV, and HMPV were the first, sixth, and ninth most frequently detected pathogens, in 1690 (14.8%), 502 (4.4%), and 321 (2.8%) patients, respectively. A total 17.9% (4605/5606) of patients with positive results had coinfection with other pathogens. Significant differences were found in the prevalence of RSV, PIV, and HMPV among all age groups (p < 0.001). RSV and HMPV had similar seasonal patterns, with two prevalence peaks every year. PIV appeared alternatively with RSV and HMPV. Multiple linear regression models were established for RSV, PIV, and HMPV prevalence and meteorological factors (p < 0.05). RSV and PIV incidence was negatively correlated with monthly mean relative humidity; RSV and HMPV incidence was negatively correlated with sunshine duration; PIV incidence was positively correlated with mean temperature. We described the features of paramyxovirus infection in a subtropical region of China and highlighted the correlation with meteorological factors. BACKGROUND: Phospholipids are an important precursor for the generation of carbonyl compounds that play a significant role in the characteristic aroma of deep‐fat fried foods. RESULTS: Phospholipids extracted from hen egg yolks were added into sunflower oil (2.0 g kg−1) and heated with or without chicken meat at 160 °C for 10 min, and then dynamic headspace extraction and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry were used to extract and analyse the volatiles. The results showed that the characteristic deep‐fat frying odorants, such as (E,E)‐2,4‐decadienal and (E,Z)‐2,4‐decadienal, as well as 1‐octen‐3‐one, (E)‐2‐nonenal, octanal, methional, dimethyl disulfide and alkylpyrazines, had increased by 3–65 times in the sunflower oil with added phospholipids, and increased up to six times in chicken meat that had been treated with phospholipids prior to heating. Two new sesquiterpenoids, named dalodorin A (1) and dalodorin B (2), together with four known sesquiterpenoids, were isolated from the heartwood of Dalbergia odorifera. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic analysis including 1D and 2D NMR techniques and HR-ESI-MS. W-doped anatase TiO2 films were deposited on glass substrate by magnetron cosputtering. The minimum resistivity, 1.5×10-2 Ω cm, for Ti1-xWxO2 film (x=0.063) was obtained. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analysis shows W incorporated in the Ti lattice position is mostly in the W6+ state. Theoretical calculations based upon the density-functional theory were applied to analyze the electronic structure and conducting mechanism. The strong hybridization of Ti 3d states with W 5d states is the dominate factor to cause the shifting in Fermi level into conduction band. Our results suggest that tungsten is a favorable dopant to form TiO2-based transparent conducting oxide materials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background and objective: For high-risk elderly patients with chronic diseases, endoscopic stone removal for large common bile duct stones is associated with a high risk of adverse events and incomplete stone removal. The aim of this study was to investigate whether the treatment strategy of short-term biliary plastic stent placement followed by elective endoscopic stone removal is more effective and safer than immediate endoscopic stone removal. Methods: The data of 262 high-risk elderly patients who received endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) for large common bile duct (CBD) stones from 2017 to 2022 were retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into group A (immediate stone removal) and group B (stent drainage + elective stone removal). The baseline data of the 2 groups were matched 1:1 by propensity score matching. The stone clearance rate, ERCP procedure time, total hospital stay, and procedure-related adverse events were compared between the matched groups. In group B, stone size before and after stent placement, hospital stay, procedure time and adverse events of two ERCPs were compared. Results: A total of 57 pairs of patients were successfully matched between the 2 groups. The stone clearance rate in group B was higher than that in group A (89.5% vs. 75.3, P = 0.049). The total hospital stay in group B was longer than that in group A (11.86 ± 3.912 d vs. 19.14 ± 3.176 d, P<0.001). The total adverse event rate in group A was higher than that in group B (29.8% vs. 12.3%, P = 0.005). The incidence of cholangitis/cholecystitis after ERCP was significantly higher in group A than in group B (7.0% vs. 0.9% P = 0.029). There was no significant difference in the incidence of post-ERCP pancreatitis, bleeding, pneumonia, and cardio-cerebrovascular events between the 2 groups. There were no perforation cases in either group. After plastic biliary stent placement in group B, the stone size was significantly smaller than before stent placement (1.59 ± 0.544 cm vs. 1.95 ± 0.543 cm, P < 0.001), and there was no significant difference in the total adverse event incidence between the two ERCP procedures (18.8% vs. 10.9%, P = 0.214). Conclusion: For high-risk elderly patients with large CBD stones, the treatment strategy involving temporary placement of plastic stent and elective endoscopic stone removal is safer and more effective than immediate stone removal. • An image moving target tracking algorithm based on three branches twin network was proposed. • A three-dimensional surface model of aggregate particles based on multi-view average principle and scale invariant feature transformation algorithm was proposed. • The changing laws of coordination number, contact force chain, velocity, displacement and fabric anisotropy of particles along with the gradation, nominal maximum particle size, friction coefficient between particle contact interfaces, and elastic modulus were revealed. Under traffic dynamic load, the microscopic mechanical properties and the fabric anisotropic evolution of open graded gravel permeable base directly determine the ability of open graded gravel permeable base to resist external loads and maintain stability in service. Firstly, this article constructed a discrete element numerical model for open graded gravel permeable base, and verified the accuracy of the model through experiments. Then, the effects of gradation, nominal maximum particle size, friction coefficient between aggregate particles, and effective elastic modulus of aggregate on the microscopic mechanical properties, migration behavior, and the fabric anisotropic evolution of open graded gravel aggregate particles were studied in sequence. The research results indicate that the proposed image moving target tracking algorithm based on the three branches twin network can achieve precise tracking and measurement of particle microscopic migration behavior. The method proposed in this study for constructing a three-dimensional surface model of gravel particles based on the principle of multi view averaging and the scale invariant feature transformation algorithm can achieve rapid numerical reconstruction of the three-dimensional morphology of gravel particles at a low cost. The internal aggregate particles of intermediate grade gravel are more likely to form a stable network force chain topology structure that can effectively resist external loads. As the maximum nominal particle size increases, the topological structure of the contact force of gravel particles becomes sparse, and the proportion of strong contact force increases. Increasing the friction coefficient of the contact interface between aggregate particles can to some extent hinder the migration behavior of aggregate particles inside the graded gravel. As the effective elastic modulus of the aggregate increases, the internal network strong contact force chain topology of open graded gravel gradually forms. Under external loads, the migration speed and displacement of the aggregate particles inside open graded gravel decrease, and the degree of internal normal contact force and branch vector anisotropy also decrease. Abstract Lipids, particularly phospholipids, are known to play a significant role in the characteristic aroma of the different meat species. Both neutral lipids and phospholipids were extracted from egg yolk and added to minced chicken (1% w/w) prior to cooking in water at 100 °C for 20 min. Sensory analysis of the broths showed that the addition of phospholipids significantly increased the chicken meat aroma whereas the addition of neutral lipids did not. GC–MS analysis showed a significant increase in most of the lipid-derived volatile components when the phospholipids were added, especially 2,4-decadienal, which is a characteristic odour impact compound in chicken. There were very few significant changes in the volatile profile when the neutral lipids were added. These data provide direct evidence that the addition of phospholipids can enhance chicken meat aroma, and addition of egg yolk phospholipids could be applied to improve chicken meat aroma. Anorthite is an important constituent mineral in basaltic achondrites from small celestial bodies. Its high‐pressure phase transformation in shocked meteorites has not been systematically studied. In this study, we report the diverse phase transformation behaviors of anorthite in a shocked eucrite Northwest Africa (NWA) 2650, which also contains coesite, stishovite, vacancy‐rich clinopyroxene, super‐silicic garnet, and reidite. Anorthite in NWA 2650 has transformed into anorthite glass (anorthite glassy vein, maskelynite, and glass with a schlieren texture and vesicles), tissintite and dissociated into three‐phase assemblage grossular + kyanite + silica glass. Different occurrences of anorthite glass might have formed via the mechanism involving shear melting, solid‐state transformation, and postshock thermally melting, respectively. Tissintite could have crystallized from a high‐pressure plagioclase melt. The nucleation of tissintite might be facilitated by relict pyroxene fragments and the early formed vacancy‐rich clinopyroxene. The three‐phase assemblage grossular, kyanite, and silica glass should have formed from anorthitic melt at high‐pressure and high‐temperature conditions. The presence of maskelynite and reidite probably suggests a minimum peak shock pressure up to 20 GPa, while the other high‐pressure phases indicate that the shock pressure during the crystallization of shock melt veins might vary from >8 GPa to >2 GPa with a heterogeneous temperature distribution. Station blackout (SBO) sequences for a Westinghouse-designed three-loop pressurized water reactor (PWR) with large dry containment are investigated. Recovery of alternating-current power is considered under two separate headings in event trees of loss of off-site power: recovery of the off-site power and recovery of the emergency diesel generators (EDGs) or diesel generator 5. A reactor coolant pump seal leakage model under SBO conditions for a Westinghouse PWR with high-temperature O-rings is used. Seal failure mechanisms, including popping open, binding, and O-ring extrusion, are considered. Success criteria are established based on the results of thermal-hydraulic calculations via the MELCOR and/or RELAP-5 codes. Furthermore, the WinNUPRA software package is used for sequence quantification. Three primary models are addressed: Basic, WOG2000, and Ultimate Response Guideline (URG). The core damage frequency (CDF) of SBO sequences for the Basic model is found to be very optimistic and underestimated. The improvement on CDF by introducing the URG model is found to be dependent primarily on the reliability of plant operators in performing the procedure URG under SBO situations. Two sensitivity analyses on the passive shutdown seal (PSDS) are performed: WOG2000 (PSDS) and URG (PSDS). The low-failure-probability PSDS results in a >94% improvement in CDF due to SBO since the CDF contribution from long-term SBO sequences becomes negligible. Furthermore, the URG strategies are shown to have a significant impact on the reduction of CDF since seal leakage is no longer a concern in the presence of the PSDS. The way that power recovered is distinguished from off-site power or on-site EDGs and the way that SBO CDF is assessed make the present study more realistic than general SBO models. A key analysis of the confidence bands of the SBO CDF with the aid of the uncertainty measure is also performed to observe the induced effects by the probabilistic seal failure modes and PSDS. Abstract The dynamic response and design optimization of clamped sandwich panels comprising two aluminum alloy face-sheets and a layered-gradient closed-cell aluminum foam core subjected to air-blast loading were examined in this study. The numerical approach was first validated by blast test results of sandwich panels with monolithic aluminum foam cores, and then the dynamic responses of layered-gradient core sandwich panels were briefly discussed in terms of deflection response and energy absorption. Two surrogate model methods (i.e., response surface method – RSM, and radial basis function – RBF) were adopted to construct objective response functions, and the single-objective adaptive response surface method (ARSM) and multi-objective genetic algorithm (MOGA) were used for the defined optimization problem. The optimization results show the trade-off relationships among the maximum energy absorption, minimum structural mass and minimum deflection, and the advantage of "Pareto front" in such design circumstances. Furthermore, the applicability and accuracy of RSM and RBF agent models in the multi-objective design optimization (MDO) of sandwich panels with layered-gradient foam cores under air-blast loading were also compared and revealed. Pavement skid resistance plays a key role in traffic safety. Meanwhile, tire-pavement noise is a major source of traffic noise in urban areas. Current asphalt mixture design methods, however, mostly focus on volumetric and mechanical properties and pay little attention to the skid resistance and noise reduction performance of asphalt mixtures, which are significantly affected by the surface textures of asphalt mixtures. Incorporating the evaluation of surface texture into the mixture design would aid in a more rational selection of materials considering both mechanical and functional properties of asphalt mixtures. In this paper, the surface texture properties of several types of asphalt mixtures are measured using a recently developed 2-Dimensional Image Texture Analysis Method. A prediction model correlating the mixture surface texture levels at different central texture wavelength in octave band with the important mix design parameters is established using a multivariate non-linear regression analysis. The model is validated through laboratory test and imaging measurement indicating its capability of predicting the level and distributions of mixture surface texture. The prediction model is anticipated to provide a basis of optimised mixture design considering the skid resistance and noise reduction performances of asphalt pavement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A new bis-γ-pyrone polypropionate compound onchidione II (1), together with three known compounds, was isolated from a marine pulmonate mollusc Onchidium struma, collected at Hainan Island of China. The structure of new compound was determined by extensive spectroscopic analyses including IR, 1D and 2D NMR techniques, and chemical methods. Compounds 1–4 were evaluated for their cytotoxicity against human tumor cell lines HepG-2, A549, and MCF-2. The results showed that compounds 1 and 2 were moderate cytotoxic against HepG-2, A549, and MCF-2 cell lines, with IC50 values from 13.2 to 22.4 μM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The conventional abrasive flow machining (AFM) and its derivatives (i.e., magneto, electro-chemical, and ultrasonic-aided AFMs) demand special machining devices, which limits the application and dissemination of AFM. A new AFM is developed in this study, which demands no extra special devices except for a tool bar made with cemented carbide. The effect of dynamic viscosity of abrasive medium, standoff distance, and tool bar rotating speed on pressure and velocity distributions of flow field is investigated using a numerical model. Moreover, experiments are conducted to explore the influence of abrasive-laden medium and process key parameters on this new AFM finishing effect. The results indicate that the pressure and velocity of flow field reach their maximum at the middle of the minimum standoff distance between tool bar and workpiece. The optimum abrasive grain size utilized in this AFM is found to be related to the minimum standoff distance between tool bar and workpiece during finishing process. The obtained optimum tool bar rotating speed, traverse speed, and number of processing cycles are 19,200 r/min, 500 mm/min, and 500 cycles, respectively.
