Organic electrochemical transistors showing maximum transconductance (gm) at zero gate bias (VG) is desired but has long been a challenge. To date, few solutions to this issue are available. Light‐matter interplay is shown as rich sources for optogenetics, photodynamic therapy, and advanced electronics, but its potential in gm modulation are largely untapped. Herein, the challenge is addressed by unique light‐matter interplay in the newly emerged technique of organic photoelectrochemical transistor (OPECT), which is exemplified by dual‐ligand photosensitive metal–organic frameworks (DL‐PS‐MOFs)/TiO2 nanorods (NRs) gated poly(ethylene dioxythiophene):poly(styrene sulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) OPECT under 425 nm light irradiation. Interestingly, the light stimulation on the DL‐PS‐MOFs can de‐dope PEDOT:PSS with altered transistor physics, achieving device showing maximum gm at zero VG and the simultaneous superior output of channel current. In connection to a cascade catalytic hairpin assembly‐rolling circle amplification strategy, such a device is then biologically interfaced with a miRNA‐triggered growth of DNA spheres for the sensitive detection of miRNA‐21 down to 0.12 fm. BACKGROUND: The main objective of this study was to predict the status of blood and the occurrence of lower limb deep vein thrombosis (DVT) after total knee arthroplasty(TKA) by means of mean platelet volume (MPV) combined with thromboelastography (TEG). METHODS: We collected 180 patients who underwent unilateral total knee arthroplasty between May 2015 and March 2022, and the patients were divided into DVT group and control group according to whole-leg ultrasonography on the seventh postoperative day. Blood count and TEG were performed on the day before surgery, the first day after surgery and the seventh day respectively. Multifactorial analysis was used to investigate whether the relevant parameters were independent predictors of DVT after TKA. RESULTS: MPV has the strongest correlation with the maximum amplitude (MA), followed by alpha-angle; MPV and alpha-angle on the first postoperative day are independent predictors of DVT. MPV in patients with thrombosis tends to rise and then fall in the perioperative period. The optimal threshold for MPV to predict thrombosis is 10.85 fL and the area under the ROC curve is 0.694, The area under the ROC curve increases to 0.815 using MPV combined with alpha-angle. In addition, MA, α-angle, composite coagulation index (CI) and MPV were all statistically higher in the DVT group than in the control group (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION: MPV is a predictor of DVT after TKA. It can reflect the hypercoagulable state of blood after surgery; Combination of MPV and alpha-angle on the first day after surgery in patients with TKA improves predictive power of DVT. The development of new chemically recyclable polymers could serve as a means of reducing the plastic pollution and alleviating global energy crisis and monomer design strategy has driven the innovation in this field. In this contribution, α-dimethyl substituted caprolactam (α-DMCL) and γ-dimethyl substituted caprolactam (γ-DMCL) were prepared to evaluate the substitution position effect on chemical recyclability and material performance in polycaprolactam (PCL) system. The introduction of geminal dimethyl substitution to ε-caprolactam (CL) at α and γ position could change the thermal and mechanical properties of the resulting polyamides P(α-DMCL) and P(γ-DMCL). Remarkably, thermal depolymerization of P(γ-DMCL) in presence of potassium caprolactamate (CL-K) could be carried out at 200 °C and converted to γ-DMCL in 91% yield. The recovered γ-DMCL was capable of repolymerization to P(γ-DMCL) without a decrease in reactivity, demonstrating the proof-of-concept recyclability of P(γ-DMCL). Despite this, the generally adopted Si photodetectors tends to be more sensitive to red and near-infrated light than blue and near ultraviolet (NUV) light. Here, a new type of hybrid photodetector made by integrating solution-processed ultrathin fluorescent InP/ZnS quantum dots (QDs) layer onto a Si photodetector is conceived and demonstracted. The optimized hybrid photodetector achieves favorably enhanced near ultraviolet (NUV) spectral range responsibility between 300 nm and 450 nm without introducing any deteriorated photodetection performance of the Si photodetector beyond short-visible wavelength band. The photoresponsivity of the optimal hybrid device reaches 0.022 A/W at the wavelength of 380 nm and increased by a factor of 6.1 relative to a commercial Si based photodetector without additional InP/ZnS QDs ultrathin layer, while simultaneously achieving high on/off ratio under 0 V working voltage. The proposed approach and findings represent a promising strategy in the quest for low-cost and broadband photodetectors with compact architecture that is directly compatible with nowadays integrated circuit technology. We report a TEMPO‐mediated oxidative copper‐catalyzed synthesis of N‐(fluoroalkyl)imidazolones via the radical addition of imidazoles with iodofluoroacetate. A possible key intermediate involving TEMPO was observed by ESI‐MS. We also found that aerobic oxidation conditions were effective for the transformation in the presence of a copper catalyst, enabling access to a number of N‐(fluoroalkyl)imidazolones in moderate to good yields. The direct modification of azole skeletons enables access to drug‐like molecules. The development of a highly compatible reaction platform for this pursuit still remains challenging. Herein, we report the use of sulfite as the single electron transfer (SET) reducing agent for the activation of functionalized bromoalkanes, elemental sulfur, and imidazoliniums for the transition metal‐free and base‐free N‐alkylation and thioketonization of azoles. Excellent functional group tolerance and high synthetic efficiency proved particularly advantageous for the rapid assembly of a large array of pharmaceutically‐oriented azole thiones, many of which contain synthetically and biologically useful functional groups. The direct transformation of drug molecules (such as Ketoconazole, Econazole, and Fluconazole) into their corresponding azole thiones has also been successfully achieved. In this paper, a single-event burnout (SEB) hardening technique for Schottky diodes at a linear energy transfer (LET) value of 0.5 pC/μm (75.5 MeV/mg/cm2) is presented and investigated by 2-D numerical simulations. The simulation results show that, when compared with the conventional junction barrier Schottky (JBS) diode with multiple buffer layers, the proposed structure can significantly reduce the electric field at the metal/SiC interface with the help of the trench, thereby reducing the interface temperature. Moreover, the maximum global temperature of the proposed structure is also reduced. The maximum global temperature of the proposed structure is 1989 K and the temperature at the Schottky contact interface is 439 K for the bias voltage of 1000 V and LET value of 0.5 pC/μm (75.5 MeV/mg/cm2) which shows that the new structure has better SEB performance. In addition, the hardening method proposed in this paper can be applied at different breakdown voltages by adjusting the structural parameters of the device. • The SEB performance of SiC Schottky diode with the trench is investigated. • The SEB performance of the proposed SiC Schottky diode is significantly improved. • The improvement of SEB performance is mainly due to the introduction of the trench. A pair of 2D MOFs, [Tm4(ipO)4(H2O)4] (1) and [Tm2(ipO)2(DMF)(H2O)] (2), have been solvothermally synthesized using 2-hydroxyisophthalic acid (H3ipO) ligand. Both of them are structurally characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, IR, TGA and PXRD. They all consist of [Tm2] Secondary Building Units (SBUs), in which two TmIII ions are double bridged by the Ophenol from ipO3− ligands. It is interesting that the tiny change of the reaction solvents has resulted in structural dissimilarity between them. Two types of centrosymmetric SBUs, namely, [Tm2(ipO)2] and [Tm2(ipO)2(H2O)2], are observed in 1. While 2 is built by the SBUs of [Tm2(ipO)2(DMF)(H2O)], in which two TmIII centers show distinct coordination geometries. Furthermore, the difference in the linkages between the SBUs of two MOFs are also found, though two MOFs show rather similar 2D framework structures. The mesurements of variable temperature magnetic susceptibility revealed the occurrence of weak antiferromagnetic interaction between the TmIII centers in two systems. A pair of 2D TmIII MOFs based on [Tm2] Secondary Building Units have been prepared with 2-hydroxyisophthalic acid ligand. Different coordinated solvents have induced the structural dissimilarity between two MOFs. Magnetic investigation indicated the antiferromagnetic interactions in both systems. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Despite the impressive advantages, the development of an enantioselective version remains elusive and poses a daunting challenge. Herein, we report the first electrooxidative cobalt‐catalyzed enantio‐ and regioselective C−H/N−H annulation with olefins using an undivided cell at room temperature (up to 99 % ee). tBu‐Salox, a rationally designed Salox ligand bearing a bulky tert‐butyl group at the ortho‐position of phenol, was found to be crucial for this asymmetric annulation reaction. A strong cooperative effect between tBu‐Salox and 3,4,5‐trichloropyridine enabled the highly enantio‐ and regioselective C−H annulation with the more challenging α‐olefins without secondary bond interactions (up to 96 % ee and 97 : 3 rr). Endometriosis is defined as an oestrogen‐dependent and inflammatory gynaecological disease of which the pathogenesis remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the cellular heterogeneity and reveal the effect of CD8+ T cells on the progress of endometriosis. Three ovarian endometriosis patients were collected, and single‐cell RNA sequencing (scRNA‐seq) progressed and delineated the cellular landscape of endometriosis containing five cell clusters. The endometrial cells (EMCs) were the major component, of which the mesenchymal cells were preponderant and characterized with increased inflammation and oestrogen synthesis in endometriosis. The proportion of T cells, mainly CD8+ T cells rather than CD4+, was reduced in endometriotic lesions, and the cytokines and cytotoxicity of ectopic T cells were depressed. CD8+ T cells depressed the proliferation of ESCs through inhibiting CDK1/CCNB1 pathway to arrest the cell cycle and triggered inflammation through activating STAT1 pathway. Correspondingly, the coculture with ESCs resulted in the dysfunction of CD8+ T cells through upregulating STAT1/PDCD1 pathway and glycolysis‐promoted metabolism reprogramming. The endometriotic lesions were larger in nude mouse models with T‐cell deficiency than the normal mouse models. The inhibition of T cells via CD90.2 or CD8A antibody increased the endometriotic lesions in mouse models, and the supplement of T cells to nude mouse models diminished the lesion sizes. In conclusion, this study revealed the global cellular variation of endometriosis among which the cellular count and physiology of EMCs and T cells were significantly changed. The depressed cytotoxicity and aberrant metabolism of CD8+ T cells were induced by ESCs with the activation of STAT1/PDCD1 pathway resulting in immune survival to promote endometriosis. Abstract: In this study, we investigated the influence of a buffer layer of molybdic oxide (MoO3) at the metal/organic junction on the behavior of organic base-modulation triodes. The performance of devices featuring MoO3/Al as the emitter electrode was enhanced relative to that of corresponding devices with Au and Ag, presumably because of the reduced in the contact barrier and the prevention of metal diffusion into the organic layer. The device exhibited an output current of −16.1μA at V B =−5V and a current ON/OFF ratio of 103. Recently, Zhou et al. proposed a quantum secret sharing (QSS) protocol, which provides only 25% qubit efficiency after the processes of the random sampling discussion and the secret derivation. In this contribution, we prepared a class of aromatic cyclic esters (M1–M5) from thiosalicylic acid and epoxides by facile one‐pot synthesis. Ring‐opening polymerization of Ms afforded aromatic polyesters P(M)s with high molecular weights and narrow dispersities. The physical and mechanical properties of P(M)s can be modulated by stereocomplexation and regulation of the side‐chain flexibility of the polymers, ultimately achieving high‐performance properties such as high thermal stability and crystallinity (Tm up to 209 °C), as well as polyolefin‐like high mechanical strength, ductility, and toughness. Furthermore, the functionalizable moieties of P(M)s have driven a wide array of post‐polymerization modifications toward access to value‐added materials. The increasing demand for second near‐infrared (NIR‐II) region materials, which retain the advantage of minimal scattering and immense applications in the medical and NIR spectroscopy field, has led to considerable research in this region. A mini light‐emitting diode (mini‐LED) is essential for backlighting liquid crystal displays, indicating the need for the small size of phosphors. However, current market phosphors must be more significant to be a viable option for mini‐LEDs. This scenario necessitates the synthesis of small‐sized phosphors to be used in mini‐LEDs. In this work, a mesoporous silica nanoparticle (MSN) and incorporated the Mg1−yGa2−xO4:xCr3+,yNi2+ system is fabricated. The structural investigation confirmed the single phase of MgGa2O4 with a pore size of 2.73 nm for the MSN. The results showed a steady NIR‐II signal at 1270 nm and an enhanced energy transfer with a high quantum yield of 79.2% for a nanophosphor. The mini‐LED package revealed a 1000–1600 nm signal, qualifying the nanophosphor for realistic applications. This work can make provisions for various NIR‐II nanophosphors in the LED industry. Erbium oxide (Er 2 O 3) transparent ceramics were successfully fabricated with different contents of zirconia (ZrO 2) additive sintered at 1850 °C for 8 h in vacuum. The effects of ZrO 2 concentration on microstructure, optical, mechanical, and thermal properties of Er 2 O 3 transparent ceramics were systematically investigated in this study. With the concentration of ZrO 2 increasing from 0 to 4 at.%, the average grain size of Er 2 O 3 transparent ceramics decreased from 166.6 to 4.7 μm. Also, the Vickers hardness and fracture toughness were increased from 7.6 ± 0.3 to 10.1 ± 0.3 GPa and 0.69 ± 0.05 to 1.09 ± 0.03 MPa m1/2, respectively. However, the thermal diffusion coefficient and thermal conductivity reduced slightly after the doping of ZrO 2. The in-line transmittance of 4 at.% ZrO 2 -doped Er 2 O 3 ceramics with the excellent optical quality reached 77% in the visible range and 78% at 1100 nm, which were 95% and 96% of the theoretical in-line transmittance of Er 2 O 3 single crystal, respectively. Highly transparent Er 2 O 3 ceramics were fabricated at varied temperatures in the range of 1700–1850 °C for 8 h in vacuum environment using commercial Er 2 O 3 powders as starting materials and 1 at.% ZrO 2 as sintering additive, for the first time. The influence of sintering temperature on the microstructure and optical properties of Er 2 O 3 ceramics was investigated. The Er 2 O 3 ceramic sintered at 1850 °C had an average grain size of 6.2 μm and an in-line transmittance of 69% at 1100 nm, which reached the best transmittance level compared to the open literature. Therefore, the Er 2 O 3 ceramic doped with 1 at.% ZrO 2 as sintering additive developed in this study presented relatively smaller grain size and excellent optical quality, and could be a potential material for laser and photonic applications. • Efficacy of glucocorticoid therapy in patients with severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome depends on the severity of the disease. • Glucocorticoid treatment increased fatality in patients with mild disease. • Increased fatality was only observed in patients ≤65 years, male, and early admission. • Low-moderate glucocorticoids reduced fatality in critically ill patients. To determine whether glucocorticoids can improve clinical outcomes of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) patients, and how to identify patients who may benefit from the treatment. A retrospective study was performed to include patients with confirmed SFTS from designated hospitals. The effect of glucocorticoids in reducing case fatality rate (CFR) and improving clinical recovery was evaluated by multivariate logistic regression models. A total of 2478 eligible patients were analyzed, of whom 331 received glucocorticoids. An integrated parameter (L-index) based on Log 10 (lactate dehydrogenase*blood urea nitrogen/lymphocyte count) was constructed to discriminate disease severity. In patients with L-index >3.823 indicating severe SFTS, significantly reduced CFR was observed in patients receiving low-moderate glucocorticoid doses with ≤60 mg daily methylprednisolone or equivalent (odds ratio [OR] 0.46, 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.23-0.88), but not in patients receiving high doses. In patients with L-index ≤3.823 indicating mild SFTS, glucocorticoid treatment was significantly associated with increased CFR (OR 3.34, 95% CI, 1.35-9.51), and mainly attributable to high-dose glucocorticoids (OR 2.83, 95% CI, 1.72-4.96). Disaggregated data analysis revealed a significant effect only in patients ≤65 years old, male, and early admission within 7 days after onset, but not in their counterparts. Background: Endometriosis is a benign gynecological disease with the feature of estrogen dependence and inflammation. The function of autophagy and the correlation with inflammation were not yet revealed. Methods: Autophagosomes were detected by transmission electron microscopy. Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database was referred to analyze the expression of autophagy‐related genes. Quantification of mRNA and protein expression was examined by qRT‐PCR and Western Blot. Immunohistochemistry was performed to explore the expression of proteins in tissues. The mouse model of endometriosis was performed to analyze the autophagic activity and effect of LXA4. Results: The expression of autophagy‐related genes in endometriotic lesions were unusually changed. The number of autophagosomes and LC3B‐II expression was diminished, and p62 was increased in ectopic lesions from both patients and mice. Interleukin 1β (IL1β) attenuated the expression of LC3B and promoted the level p62. The autophagy activator MG‐132 upregulated the expression of LC3B and reduced IL1β, IL6, and p62. LXA4 reversed the inhibitory effect of IL1β on the expression of LC3B and p62, and blocking the receptor of LXA4 AhR (aryl hydrocarbon receptor) resulted in the incapacitation of LXA4 to influence the effect of IL1β. LXA4 depressed the phosphorylation of AKT and mTOR to against IL1β, and blocking AhR negatively regulated the effect of LXA4 on AKT/mTOR pathway. LXA4 reduced the ectopic lesions and the expression of IL1β and p62, but enhanced LC3B‐II in endometriotic mouse models. Conclusion: In endometriosis, increased inflammation of ectopic lesions prominently depresses autophagy. BACKGROUND: In China, the current status of clinical treatment of eLVO and the factors affecting its long-term prognosis are unclear. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to explore the predictive factors of functional outcomes at one year in patients of acute ischemic stroke with emergent large vessel occlusion (eLVO). METHODS: We retrospectively collected 536 patients who underwent treatments for eLVO. Primary outcomes included one-year functional outcomes and delayed functional independence (DFI). The logistic regression was performed to predict the primary outcome. RESULTS: 431 (85%) survivors participated in the one-year follow-up. In the multivariate logistic analysis adjusted for baseline characteristics, the following factors were found to be significant predictors of functional dependence at one year: old age (aOR = 1.042, 95% CI=1.01-1.076, p = 0.011), low Alberta stroke program early CT score (ASPECTS) (aOR = 0.791, 95% CI=0.671-0.933, p = 0.005), unsuccessful reperfusion (aOR = 0.168, 95% CI=0.048-0.586, p = 0.005), poor medication compliance (aOR = 0.022, 95% CI=0.007-0.072, p < 0.001), and complicated with stroke-associated pneumonia (SAP) (aOR = 2.269, 95% CI=1.103-4.670, p = 0.026). We also found that men (aOR = 3.947, 95% CI=1.15-13.549, p = 0.029) had better medication adherence (aOR = 14.077, 95% CI=1.736-114.157, p = 0.013), and going to rehabilitation centers (aOR = 5.197, 95% CI=1.474-18.327, p = 0.010) were independent predictors of DFI. CONCLUSION: The significant predictors of functional dependence at one year were: old age, low ASPECTS, unsuccessful reperfusion, poor medication adherence, and combination with SAP. Incorporating biomolecules into metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) as exoskeletons to form biomolecules‐MOFs biohybrids has attracted great attention as an emerging class of advanced materials. Organic devices have been shown as powerful platforms for next‐generation bioelectronics, such as wearable biosensors, tissue engineering constructs, and neural interfaces. Herein, biomolecules‐incorporated MOFs as innovative gating module is realized for the first time, which is exemplified by biocatalytic precipitation (BCP)‐oriented horseradish peroxidase (HRP)‐embedded zeolitic imidazolate framework‐90 (HRP@ZIF‐90)/CdIn2S4 gated organic photoelectrochemical transistor under light illumination. In connection to a sandwich immunocomplexing targeting the model analyte human IgG, the IgG‐dependent generation of H2O2 and the tandem HRP‐triggered BCP reaction can cause the in situ blocking of the pore network of ZIF‐90, leading to variant gating effect with corresponding responses of the device. This representative biodetection achieved good analytical performance with a wide linear range and a low detection limit of 100 fg mL−1. Background: This study aimed to determine the impact of co-infection of Clonorchis sinensis (CS) and hepatitis B virus (HBV) on the prognosis of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) following hepatectomy. Methods: The clinicopathological information of 946 patients with HCC following hepatectomy was retrospectively analyzed. The patients were divided into four groups depending on whether they had CS infection and/or HBV infection: double-negative group (infected with neither CS nor HBV), simple CS group (infected with only CS), simple HBV group (infected with only HBV), and double-positive group (co-infected with CS and HBV). Kaplan-Meier curves were used to evaluate the overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS), while log-rank tests were used to compare survival rates. Further, Cox regression was used to perform both univariate and multivariate survival analyses to identify variables linked to the prognosis of HCC. Results: The median overall survival (OS) and recurrence-free survival (RFS) in the double-positive, simple CS, simple HBV, and double-negative groups were 27 months and 9 months, 20 months and 7 months, 44 months and 12 months, and 42 months and 17 months, respectively. The double-positive group's 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year OS and RFS rates were 79.2% and 46.9%, 62.6% and 28.4%, 47.8%, and 12.2%, respectively. The simple CS group's 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year OS and RFS rates were 86.3% and 41.5%, 56.5% and 27.7%, 50.2%, and 18.5%, respectively. The simple HBV group's 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year OS and RFS rates were 89.8% and 56.0%, 72.5% and 30.5%, 63.8%, and 19.9%, respectively. The double-negative group's 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year OS and RFS rates were 91.5% and 62.3%, 76.1% and 32.9%, 64.0%, and 22.4%, respectively. Further, according to a Cox multivariate analysis, tumor size (> 5cm), Edmonson grade (III-IV), BCLC-C stage, and tumor satellite focus were independent risk factors for RFS and OS in patients with HCC. Conclusion: Patients with HCC and Clonorchis sinensis infection experience a poor prognosis after hepatectomy, regardless of whether they are co-infected with HBV. Infection with Clonorchis sinensis is a risk factor for cholangiocarcinoma. The hepatitis B virus is the leading cause of hepatocellular carcinoma. In addition, hepatitis B infection is prevalent in many endemic places for clonorchiasis, although the potential interaction between the two diseases has gotten little attention. This study aimed to determine the prognostic significance of Clonorchis sinensis infection and Clonorchis sinensis combined with HBV infection in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma after hepatectomy. • There is a higher incidence of severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS) in selenium-deficient areas. • Mortality of SFTS is higher in severe selenium-deficient areas. • Insufficient serum selenium in humans is associated with poor prognosis in SFTS. Selenium deficiency can be associated with increased susceptibility to some viral infections and even more severe diseases. In this study, we aimed to examine whether this association applies to severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS). An observational study was conducted based on the data of 13,305 human SFTS cases reported in mainland China from 2010 to 2020. The associations among incidence, case fatality rate of SFTS, and crop selenium concentration at the county level were explored. The selenium level in a cohort of patients with SFTS was tested, and its relationship with clinical outcomes was evaluated. The association between selenium-deficient crops and the incidence rate of SFTS was confirmed by multivariate Poisson analysis, with an estimated incidence rate ratio (IRR, 95% confidence interval [CI]) of 4.549 (4.215−4.916) for moderate selenium-deficient counties and 16.002 (14.706−17.431) for severe selenium-deficient counties. In addition, a higher mortality rate was also observed in severe selenium-deficient counties with an IRR of 1.409 (95% CI: 1.061−1.909). A clinical study on 120 patients with SFTS showed an association between serum selenium deficiency and severe SFTS (odds ratio, OR: 2.94; 95% CI: 1.00–8.67) or fatal SFTS (OR: 7.55; 95% CI: 1.14–50.16). Organic photoelectrochemical transistor (OPECT) biosensor is now appearing in perspective of public, which characterized by amplified the grating electrode potential by ion transport. In this study, the DNA network formed by the hybridization chain reaction (HCR) detects the target adenosine triphosphate (ATP) by adjusting the surface potential of the new heterojunction of ZnIn 2 S 4 /MXene. The formation of DNA network amplifies the detection signal of ATP. Significantly, OPECT biosensor could further amplify the signal, which calculated the gain achieved 103, which is consistent with the gain signal of the previously reported OPECT biosensor. Furthermore, the OPECT biosensor achieved a highly sensitivity detection of the target ATP, which the linear detection range is 0.03 pM–30 nM, and the detection limit is 0.03 pM, and illustrated a high selectivity to ATP. The proposed OPECT biosensor achieved signal amplification by adjusting the surface potential of ZnIn 2 S 4 /MXene through cascade DNA network, which provides a new direction for the detection of biomolecules. Abstract: In this study, we report the electrical characterization of complementary inverters fabricated using n- and p-channel organic vertical-type triodes (OVTs) on the same substrate. Because of the similar performance of the p-channel OVT (ON current: −229μA; OFF current: −67.6nA; turn-on voltage: −0.8 V) and n-channel OVT (ON current: 377μA; OFF current: 86.9nA; turn-on voltage: 0.4V), the complementary inverter combining the n- and p-channel OVTs exhibited a voltage gain of ca. 9 at a low supply voltage of 4V. Cathelicidins are an important antimicrobial peptide family and are expressed in many different vertebrates. They play an important role in the innate immune system of the host. However, amphibian cathelicidins are poorly understood. In this study, the cDNA of the cathelicidin gene was obtained from the skin transcriptome of tiger frog (Hoplobatrachus rugulosus). The predicted amino acid sequence of tiger frog cathelicidin (HR-CATH) comprises a signal peptide, a cathelin domain, and a mature peptide. The HR-CATH amino acid sequence alignment with other frog cathelicidins showed that the functional mature peptide is highly variable in amphibians, whereas the cathelin domain is conserved. A phylogenetic tree analysis showed that HR-CATH is most closely related to cathelicidin-NV from Nanorana ventripunctata. HR-CATH was chemically synthesized and its in vitro activity was determined. It had high antibacterial activity against Vibrio parahaemolyticus , Staphylococcus aureus , and the pathogenic bacterium Aeromonas hydrophila. HR-CATH damaged the cell membrane integrity of A. hydrophila according to a lactate dehydrogenase release assay and was able to hydrolyze the genomic DNA from A. hydrophila in a dose-dependent manner. Furthermore, in RAW264.7 cells (mouse leukemic monocyte/macrophage cell line), HR-CATH induced chemotaxis and enhanced respiratory burst. Our study shows that amphibian cathelicidin has antimicrobial activity and an immunomodulatory effect on immune cells. Abstract: Polycylic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are listed as carcinogenic and mutagenic priority pollutants, belonging to the environmental endocrine disrupters. Most PAHs in the environment stem from the atmospheric deposition and diesel emission. Consequently, the elimination of PAHs in the off-gases is one of the priority and emerging challenges. Catalytic oxidation has been widely used in the destruction of organic compounds due to its high efficiency (or conversion of reactants), its economic benefits and good applicability. This study investigates the application of the catalytic oxidation using Pt/γ-Al2O3 catalysts to decompose PAHs and taking naphthalene (the simplest and least toxic PAH) as a target compound. It studies the relationships between conversion, operating parameters and relevant factors such as treatment temperatures, catalyst sizes and space velocities. Also, a related reaction kinetic expression is proposed to provide a simplified expression of the relevant kinetic parameters. The results indicate that the Pt/γ-Al2O3 catalyst used accelerates the reaction rate of the decomposition of naphthalene and decreases the reaction temperature. A high conversion (over 95%) can be achieved at a moderate reaction temperature of 480K and space velocity below 35,000h-1. Non-catalytic (thermal) oxidation achieves the same conversion at a temperature beyond 1000K. The results also indicate that Rideal–Eley mechanism and Arrhenius equation can be reasonably applied to describe the data by using the pseudo-first-order reaction kinetic equation with activation energy of 149.97kJ/mol and frequency factor equal to 3.26×1017s-1. In this study, field-scale experiments were carried out to analyze the coupling effects of typical agronomic measures and soil types on soil antibiotic resistance genes (ARGs) using high-throughput fluorescence quantitative PCR. The results indicated that agronomic measures enhanced ARG abundance in different soil types. For the same soil type, the enhancement of ARG abundance in response to agronomic measures could be ordered as follows: livestock manure application (257.6–131.7 %) > sewage irrigation (57.6–35.0 %) > plastic film mulching (21.2–5.0 %). Under the same agronomic measures, enhancement of ARG abundance according to soil type was: clay (257.6–21.2 %) > loam (147.8–15.9 %) > sandy (131.7–5.0 %). Furthermore, the contributions of environmental factors in determining ARG abundance in different soil types differed in response to the application of different agronomic measures. Phthalates had the most and least pronounced effects on ARG abundance in sandy and loam soils, respectively. Effects of moisture on ARG abundance were minor in loam soil, but greater in clay and sandy soils. To investigate using pre-germinated brown rice (PGBR) to treat metabolic syndrome, we fed one group of mice standard-regular-diet (SRD) for 20 weeks and another group of mice high-fat-diet (HFD) for 16 weeks. We subdivided them into HFD group and HFD + PGBR group whose dietary carbohydrate was replaced with PGBR for 4 weeks. The HFD group gained more weight, had higher blood pressure, heart rate, blood glucose and lipids, liver levels of TG, feces TG and bile acid, lower adipose levels of adipocytokine, lower skeletal muscle IR, IRS-1, IRS-2, PI3 K, Akt/PKB, GLUT-1, GLUT-4, GCK and PPAR-γ; higher liver SREBP-1, SCD-1, FAS, HMGCR, LDLR, CYP7α1 and PPAR-α, and higher adipose SREBP-1, SCD-1, FAS, and lower adipose PPAR-α and adiponectin. The HFD + PGBR group had clearly improved blood pressure, biochemical parameters and above proteins expressions. PGBR successful treatment of metabolic syndrome was achieved through improvements in glucose and lipid synthesis and metabolism. Abstract: This study investigated the application of ozone in conjunction with Pt/Al2O3 catalysts, called ozone-catalytic oxidation (OZCO) process, to destruct gaseous naphthalene (Nap). The experiments were carried out at various constant reaction temperatures (T), space velocities (SV) and inlet concentrations of ozone . The results indicate that the required T for the effective decomposition of Nap decreases with the increase in inlet concentration of ozone at the same conversion level of Nap (X Nap). Further, the values of X Nap and mineralization extent of Nap (M Nap) increase linearly with the increase of . Regarding the T at X Nap =50% (T 50), there is about 20K reduction at SV=100,000h−1 for the case of OZCO process with of 1750ppmv (T 50 =460K) compared to the process without ozone (T 50 =480K). Further, the power law can be applied to describe the data by using the second order expression with respect to ozone and Nap concentration. The observed activation energy and frequency factor are 68.3kJmol−1 and 5.36×1012 L2 mol−1 g−1-cat.s−1, respectively. 3-O-[(E)-4-(4-cyanophenyl)-2-oxobut-3-en-1-yl] kaempferol is a novel lead compound to discover anti-diabetic and anti-obesity drugs. The present study reported the scaffold hopping of the lead compound to obtain a new isoxazole derivative, C45 , which has improved glucose consumption at the nanomolar level (EC 50 = 0.8 nM) in insulin resistant (IR) HepG2 cells. Western blotting showed that C45 markedly enhanced the phosphorylation of AMPK (AMP-activated protein kinase) and reduced the levels of the gluconeogenesis key enzymes PEPCK (phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase) and G6Pase (glucose 6-phosphatase) in HepG2 cells. The potential molecular mechanism of C45 may be activation of the AMPK/PEPCK/G6Pase pathways. We concluded that C45 might be a valuable candidate to discover anti-diabetic drugs. High-level user experience has become the key factor that one game can be successful in the game market. The home page of mobile games, especially the design of the navigation interface, has a significant impact on users' initial experience, which is an important determent to users' preferences and purchase decision. Hence, measuring users' perceptual experiences of the navigation interface can help designers understand real demands from users. Previous studies primarily used self-report scales or interviews to measure gamers' perceptual experiences. However, it may not reflect gamers' real perceptions that they are feeling as most of time the feeling is short-lived and implicit. To fill this gap, the current study attempted to combine subjective evaluation with event-related potentials (ERP) to objectively measure gamers' perceptual experience evoked by the navigation interface of the mobile game. The navigation interfaces of mobile games with low, medium, and high perceptual experience were developed and the ERP experiment was conducted to detect the differences in users' electroencephalograph (EEG) components when subjects were exposed to the different design levels of navigation interface. The results showed that N1 reaction showed asymmetry in brain regions, and P2 and N2 showed symmetry, and relative to the navigation interface with low and medium perceptual experiences, the high level of navigation interface induced a larger amplitude of N2 in the anterior scalp and P2 in the frontal scalp. These EEG components can, therefore, be regarded as significant indicators reflecting gamers' perceptions of the navigation interface.
