Acoustic waves are commonly used to locate buried polyethylene pipes. In this preliminary study we are particularly interested in pipes depth. To obtain depth information we are moving towards a multi-sensor solution. Several estimators are implemented and tested on real data. A depth estimator according to the relative delays between sensors is proposed. We compare two relative delays estimators : the method using the cross-correlation and the one using the coherence function. We will verify on real measurements that the second method is much more efficient than the first one. Before discussing the results we will present another approach which consists in adapting the MUSIC (MUltiple SIgnals Classification) algorithm to our problem.

International audience; trans-1,3,3,3-Tetrafluoropropene (1234ze) was copolymerizedunder free radical conditions with vinylidene fluoride (VDF) andtrifluoroethylene (TrFE), for the first time, leading to statisticalpoly(VDF-ter-TrFE-ter-1234ze) electroactive terpolymers. The reactivityratios of the three comonomer couples were determined (rVDF = 0.77;rTrFE = 0.32), (rVDF = 1.67; r1234ze = 0.00), and (rTrFE = 7.56; r1234ze = 0.00),at 48 °C, using the nonlinear fitting Mayo−Lewis method. 1234ze wasshown to be regularly incorporated in the terpolymer chains over theentire course of the reaction providing terpolymer chains with statisticalmonomer distribution and almost constant composition. These newVDF/TrFE-based terpolymers were characterized by 1H and 19F liquidstate NMR spectroscopy. The characteristic NMR signals of the VDF−1234ze dyads were identified by comparing the NMR spectral signaturesof a poly(VDF82-co-1234ze18) copolymer and of a terpolymer. The thermal and electroactive properties of poly(VDF-ter-TrFEter-1234ze) terpolymers, with 1234ze content ranging from 0 to 6 mol % and molar masses above 55 kg/mol, were assessed. Therandomly distributed 1234ze termonomer units induced the decreases of both the Curie and the melting temperatures of theterpolymer even at low termonomer content (TCurie = 70 °C and Tm = 126 °C and TCurie = 72 °C and Tm = 150 °C; for apoly(VDF69-ter-TrFE28-ter-1234ze3) terpolymer and a poly(VDF65-co-TrFE35) copolymer, respectively). Films of the terpolymerswere cast, and their electroactive properties were examined by D−E loops measurements. They showed that the presence of1234ze decreased the remnant polarization (Pr = 45 mC/m2 for a poly(VDF65-co-TrFE35) copolymer to 28 mC/m2 for apoly(VDF69-ter-TrFE25-ter-1234ze6) terpolymer) probably because it also decreased the crystallinity of the terpolymer. Thecombination of the studies of the reactivity of the monomers, of the terpolymer microstructures, and of the assessment of theirphysical properties provides insights into their structure−property relationship.

International audience; The work presented in this paper is part of a project which focuses on capitalization and reuse of power models used at Intel to calculate power consumption of electronic devices. These models are analytical and created using an application called IDPA (Intel® Docea™ Power Analytics). Hundreds of thousands of power models have been accumulated in a directory of files and folders, for the simulation of the consumption of thousands of products. The objective of this work is to group together the models that have been used for the same product, or the same family of products, for example a generation of processors. This notion of project is not present in the current version of the application, and we want to use clustering techniques to make proposals to users wishing to reuse groups of models already present in IDPA database, for example to design the next generation from the current one. To do that, agglomerative hierarchical clustering is used. Three features are considered to calculate the distance between files in which power models are stored: low delay between files' edition times, similarity of files' names and closeness in filesystem. Hence, we build a tool that can help architects to automatically group their power models into working projects. The proposition made by the algorithm can be refined by an expert or can be directly used by novice users to get an idea on a project on which they have no prior knowledge.

The rapid development of digital assistants (DA) opens the way to new modes of interaction. Some DA allows users to personalise the way they respond to queries, in particular by teaching them new procedures. This work proposes to use machine learning methods to enrich the linguistic and procedural generalisation capabilities of these systems. The challenge is to reconcile rapid learning skills, necessary for a smooth user experience, with a sufficiently large generalisation capacity. Though this is a natural human ability, it remains out-of-reach for artificial systems and this leads us to approach these issues from the perspective of developmental Artificial Intelligence. This work is thus inspired by the cognitive processes at work in children during language learning.First, we propose a language processing module, which relies on semantic comparison methods to interpret the user’s natural language requests. The variability of a user speech is indeed one of the main difficulties of these learning assistants. We provide them with a generalisation tool to continuously adapt to the user language. Another challenge for these learning agents is their ability to transfer their knowledge to new objects and contexts. We propose a series of architectures for Deep Reinforcement Learning agents that learn to perform tasks expressed in natural language in various environments. By exploiting language as an abstraction tool to represent tasks, we show that in structured environment, these agents are able to transfer their skills to new objects.Finally, we develop a use case in a home automation environment. We propose a learning assistant that integrates the systems mentioned above., L’essor des assistants numériques ouvre la voie à de nouveaux modes d’interaction. Les assistants apprenant par interaction offrent ainsi la possibilité aux utilisateurs de personnaliser la manière dont ils répondent aux requêtes, notamment en leur enseignant de nouvelles procédures. Lattice-based cryptography is considered as a quantum-safe alternative for the replacement of currently deployed schemes based on RSA and discrete logarithm on prime fields or elliptic curves. It offers strong theoretical security guarantees, a large array of achievable primitives, and a competitive level of efficiency. Nowadays, in the context of the NIST post-quantum standardization process, future standards may ultimately be chosen and several new lattice-based schemes are high-profile candidates. The cryptographic research has been encouraged to analyze lattice-based cryptosystems, with a particular focus on practical aspects. This thesis is rooted in this effort.In addition to black-box cryptanalysis with classical computing resources, we investigate the extended security of these new lattice-based cryptosystems, employing a broad spectrum of attack models, e.g. quantum, misuse, timing or physical attacks. Accounting that these models have already been applied to a large variety of pre-quantum asymmetric and symmetric schemes before, we concentrate our efforts on leveraging and addressing the new features introduced by lattice structures. Our contribution is twofold: defensive, i.e. countermeasures for implementations of lattice-based schemes and offensive, i.e. cryptanalysis.On the defensive side, in view of the numerous recent timing and physical attacks, we wear our designer’s hat and investigate algorithmic protections. We introduce some new algorithmic and mathematical tools to construct provable algorithmic countermeasures in order to systematically prevent all timing and physical attacks. We thus participate in the actual provable protection of the GLP, BLISS, qTesla and Falcon lattice-based signatures schemes.On the offensive side, we estimate the applicability and complexity of novel attacks leveraging the lack of perfect correctness introduced in certain lattice-based encryption schemes to improve their performance. We show that such a compromise may enable decryption failures attacks in a misuse or quantum model. We finally introduce an algorithmic cryptanalysis tool that assesses the security of the mathematical problem underlying lattice-based schemes when partial knowledge of the secret is available. The usefulness of this new framework is demonstrated with the improvement and automation of several known classical, decryption-failure, and side-channel attacks., La cryptographie fondée sur les réseaux euclidiens représente une alternative prometteuse à la cryptographie asymétrique utilisée actuellement, en raison de sa résistance présumée à un ordinateur quantique universel. Cette nouvelle famille de schémas asymétriques dispose de plusieurs atouts parmi lesquels de fortes garanties théoriques de sécurité, un large choix de primitives et, pour certains de ses représentants, des performances comparables aux standards actuels. Une campagne de standardisation post-quantique organisée par le NIST est en cours et plusieurs schémas utilisant des réseaux euclidiens font partie des favoris. La communauté scientifique a été encouragée à les analyser car ils pourraient à l’avenir être implantés dans tous nos systèmes. Dans ce mémoire, nous analysons leur application aux nouvelles structures induites par les réseaux euclidiens. Notre travail est divisé en deux parties complémentaires : les contremesures et les attaques.La première partie regroupe nos contributions à l’effort actuel de conception de nouvelles protections algorithmiques afin de répondre aux nombreuses publications récentes d’attaques par canaux auxiliaires. Les travaux réalisés en équipe auxquels nous avons pris part on abouti à l’introduction de nouveaux outils mathématiques pour construire des contre-mesures algorithmiques, appuyées sur des preuves formelles, qui permettent de prévenir systématiquement les attaques physiques et par analyse de temps d’exécution. Nous avons ainsi participé à la protection de plusieurs schémas de signature fondés sur les réseaux euclidiens comme GLP, BLISS, qTesla ou encore Falcon.Dans une seconde partie consacrée à la cryptanalyse, nous étudions dans un premier temps de nouvelles attaques qui tirent parti du fait que certains schémas de chiffrement à clé publique ou d’établissement de clé peuvent échouer avec une faible probabilité. Ces échecs sont effectivement faiblement corrélés au secret. Notre travail a permis d’exhiber des attaques dites « par échec de déchiffrement » dans des modèles de failles d’utilisation ou des modèles quantiques. Nous avons d’autre part introduit un outil algorithmique de cryptanalyse permettant d’estimer la sécurité du problème mathématique sous-jacent lorsqu’une information partielle sur le secret est donnée. Cet outil s’est avéré utile pour automatiser et améliorer plusieurs attaques connues comme des attaques par échec de déchiffrement, des attaques classiques ou encore des attaques par canaux auxiliaires.

International audience; As the product end of life is becoming more and more complex, the recycling systems encountered many difficulties in valuing all the materials contained in the products. This involves not only recovering many materials but also getting the most economical way and the minimal environmental impact. The recycling industry is a new business sector that needs to be accompanied in its development and research of the most sustainable pathway to guarantee the resources circularity. That is why recyclers need robust assessment tools to make the right choices during the engineering of recycling pathways. This assessment, during the designing phase of the waste management line, should enable recyclers to choose the right recycling processes for a wide range of end of life products. In this article, we present how we develop a methodology for evaluating the performance of recycling processes and give relevant indicators during their design phase. session Fr1: Defects and Device Structures (027); International audience; Extended electrically active defects have been investigated in Short Wave InfraRed (SWIR) HgCdTe n on p photodiodes, using the Deep Level Transient Spectroscopy (DLTS) technique. Three localized defects have been found in the dislocations’ core or in their close environment. DLTS studies have also been performed before and after indentation, a technique which generates dislocations in the material. DLTS spectra are discussed and dislocations generated by indentation have been found to be electrically active only after annealing.

Coworking spaces are flexible workspaces shared by individuals from different organizations in an open-plan space. This thesis analyses the development of a coworking market in the Greater Paris region in light of the working arrangements in those spaces. The role of proximity in collaboration is observed in a Parisian coworking space. The overlap between commercial and non-commercial exchanges shows that reciprocity contributes to reinforce ties between coworkers. Coworking spaces can encourage entrepreneurial projects through peer learning and the access to resources in the space. However, this requires the work of coworking managers who are key in organizing collaboration and making it visible. They are thus creating a new form of real estate service that ties physical space to an informal networking service between coworkers. The value in coworking spaces is therefore coproduced by its users. This research also shows that the development of coworking in Greater Paris was first structured by local public policies, and that real estate developers are now scaling up the idea of coworking. Coworking space operators are becoming intermediaries enabling small companies to share their offices in metropolitan regions, thus positioning themselves in the corporate real estate value chain.; Les espaces de coworking sont des espaces de travail partagés par des individus de plusieurs organisations au sein d’un espace ouvert. Ils font du coworking une nouvelle forme de service immobilier qui articule espace physique et service informel de mise en relation des travailleurs. La valeur des espaces de coworking est alors coproduite par les utilisateurs. Cette thèse resitue également le développement du coworking en Ile-de-France par rapport à un ensemble de politiques publiques. Les collectivités territoriales ont contribué à structurer le marché avant que des promoteurs immobiliers n’opèrent un changement d’échelle dans la notion-même de coworking. L’opérateur de coworking devient un intermédiaire permettant de mutualiser la demande de bureaux des petites entreprises en zone métropolitaine, et est amené à prendre une place au sein de la chaîne de valeur de l’immobilier.

Le rôle de la proximité physique dans le développement de pratiques collaboratives y est observé dans un espace de coworking parisien. L’étude des croisements entre échanges marchands et non-marchands permet de montrer que les effets de réciprocité contribuent à renforcer les liens entre coworkers. Les espaces peuvent faciliter les projets entrepreneuriaux par un apprentissage entre pairs et l’accès à des ressources communes au sein de l’espace. Cela nécessite cependant que les gestionnaires de coworking organisent la collaboration et la rendent visible. Ils font du coworking une nouvelle forme de service immobilier qui articule espace physique et service informel de mise en relation des travailleurs. La valeur des espaces de coworking est alors coproduite par les utilisateurs. Cette thèse resitue également le développement du coworking en Ile-de-France par rapport à un ensemble de politiques publiques. Les collectivités territoriales ont contribué à structurer le marché avant que des promoteurs immobiliers n’opèrent un changement d’échelle dans la notion-même de coworking. L’opérateur de coworking devient un intermédiaire permettant de mutualiser la demande de bureaux des petites entreprises en zone métropolitaine, et est amené à prendre une place au sein de la chaîne de valeur de l’immobilier.

International audience; Informal Learning in the Workplace (ILW) is ensured by the everyday work activities in which workers are engaged. It accounts for over 75 per cent of learning in the workplace. Enterprise Social Media (ESM) are increasingly used as informal learning environments. According to the results of an implementation we have conducted in real context, we show that ESM are appropriate to promote ILW. Nevertheless, social aspects must be reconsidered to address users’ needs regarding content and access, quality information indicators, moderation and control.

IV 2017 - IEEE Intelligent Vehicles Symposium, Redondo Beach, Los Angeles, ETATS-UNIS, 11-/06/2017 - 14/06/2017; For several years, researches dedicated to autonomous driving are growing and a great number of applications and algorithms have been developed for embedded ADAS. In a part of these very critical applications, the tracking of the road's obstacles is one of the key elements. The tracking is built around a stage of measurement to track association. It consists in assessing the similarity between two sets of multi-dimensional state vectors characterizing the track and the measurement. For this application, but not only, we propose in this work a multi-criteria similarity operator based on Belief Theory allowing to take into account uncertainties and imperfections on the data. Partial data availability, conflict and ambiguities between state vectors are managed. The output of this operator provides not only the similarity but also the dissimilarity level, the amount of conflict and ambiguity. This operator is applied to relevant use-cases to highlight its benefits over the standard similarity operators.

While discourse on change is gaining prominence in the economic, societal and organizational spheres, under which circumstances can a strategic discourse contribute to organizational change?The aim of this research is to identify the conditions of performativity of a strategic discourse i.e. its ability to produce an effect. In so doing, we highlight what is necessary for a strategic discourse to bring about the intended change, referring both to the deliberate and emerging, unexpected dimensions of strategy. We rely on and analyze the concepts of performativity brought by Austin, Searle, Butler and Callon, and illustrate these various concepts through recent empirical works on the effects of strategic discourses. This reflection shows significant differences in definitions and conditions of performativity of discourse. Outlining a variety of conditions needed for a discourse to produce an effect, this research ultimately shows that strategic discourse is rather weak and fragile., À l’heure où le discours sur le changement est omniprésent dans les sphères économiques, sociétales et organisationnelles, à quelles conditions un discours stratégique est-il à même d’en produire ?L’objectif de cette recherche est de déterminer les différentes conditions donnant au discours stratégique sa performativité, autrement sa capacité à produire un effet. Il s’agit de mettre en lumière ce qui permet à un discours stratégique d’induire le changement qu’il décrit, renvoyant par-là à la dimension délibérée de la stratégie, mais également des changements inattendus, renvoyant par-là à sa dimension émergente. Nous convoquons et analysons les conceptions de la performativité portées tour à tour par Austin et Searle, Butler et Callon, conceptions que nous illustrons au travers des travaux récents portant sur les effets des discours stratégiques. Cette réflexion met à jour des différences significatives dans les définitions et conditions de performativité du discours. En soulignant l’importance des conditions requises pour qu’un discours produise un effet, cette recherche révèle finalement la relative fragilité du discours stratégique.

International audience; In this paper a novel optimal control strategy for energy management of an off-grid hybrid Stirling engine/Supercapacitor power plant is presented based on preliminary results proposed in \cite{Rahmani2013}. An implementation of the control strategy is performed on a real time target that drives a dedicated testbed with a DC machine reproducing the functioning of the thermodynamic Stirling Engine. The DC machine is linked to a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) connected to an AC load through an appropriate controlled Power electronics and an energy storage device which is a supercapacitor. The performances of the developed control Strategy are then assessed through experimental results on the testbed.

Si l’inversion des opérations est possible mathématiquement, elle n’est jamais appliquée en pratique. Cet article présente un moyen de calculer la rétro-projection filtrée avec la même précision numérique quel que soit l’ordre des opérations. Une illustration dans le cadre de la reconstruction de régions d’intérêt démontre la versatilité de la méthode.

This paper presents an approach developed to study the behavior of the masonry vaulted tunnels in order to evaluate the serviceability state and failure load. An appropriate homogenization technique is used to simulate the global anisotropic behavior across the vault. The model takes into account isotropic damage in each component of the masonry and the variations of the directions of anisotropy in case of a vault. A set of comparisons with experimental tests allowed the validation of the proposed approach. Failure loads and deformation states are correctly assessed. The present model was programmed in the finite element code CESAR-LCPC.; Cet article présente une approche développée pour étudier le comportement des voutes de tunnels en maçonnerie pour évaluer leurs états limites de service et ultimes. Une technique d'homogénéisation appropriée est utilisée pour simuler le comportement anisotrope global de la voute. Le modèle prend en compte l'endommagement de chaque composant de la maçonnerie et les variations des directions d'anisotropie dans le cas d'une voute. Un ensemble de comparaisons avec des résultats expérimentaux permet de valider l'approche proposée. Les charges limites et les déformations sont correctement reproduites. Le modèle a été introduit dans le code de calcul par éléments finis CESAR-LCPC.

The formation of magnesium phosphate cements is based on an acid-base reaction between potassium dihydrogen phosphate and magnesium oxide. The reaction leads to the formation of k-struvite as main product. These cements, due to their specific properties, represent an interesting alternative solution for niche applications, such as cold weather repair materials or waste treatment materials. However, scarce information is found in the literaturewhen it comes to certain aspects linked to the consolidation of the material. The main purpose of this study is thus to better understand the influence of both the pH and the species that are present in solution on the precipitation of the k-struvite. The present study highlights the fact that the consolidation of the material involves the formation of an initial transition phase. Indeed throughout the reaction, newberyite is first formed. With the pH increase, newberyite is dissolved, and these conditions enhance the crystallization of k-struvite.; Les ciments phosphomagnésiens sont basés sur une réaction acide/base entre du dihydrogénophosphate de potassium et de l'oxyde de magnésium. La réaction conduit à la formation de k-struvite. Ces ciments ont des propriétés spécifiques et constituent des solutions alternatives comme matériaux pour la réparation ou l'inertage de déchets. Peu de données sont disponibles pour comprendre comment ces ciments se forment et l'objectif de cette étude est de mieux comprendre l'influence du pH et des espèces chimiques présentes en solution sur la précipitation de la k-struvite. Les résultats mettent en évidence la formation d'un composé intermédiaire, la newberyte qui se redissout quand le pH augmente et initie la cristallisation de la k-struvite.

International audience; Interactions between endothelial selectins and the leukocyte counter-receptor PSGL1 mediates leukocyte recruitment to inflammation sites. PSGL1 is highly sialylated, making it a potential ligand for Siglec-5, a leukocyte-receptor that recognizes sialic acid structures. Binding assays using soluble Siglec-5 variants (sSiglec-5/C4BP and sSiglec-5/Fc) revealed a dose- and calcium-dependent binding to PSGL1. Pre-treatment of PSGL1 with sialidase reduced Siglec-5 binding by 79 ± 4%. In confocal immune-fluorescence assays, we observed that 50% of Peripheral Blood Mononuclear Cells (PBMCs) simultaneously express PSGL1 and Siglec-5. Dans ce but, les travaux de recherche qui constituent cette thèse ont développé d’une part une approche théorique de la résilience du réseau et d’autre part une proposition d’amélioration de la solution actuellement déployée pour absorber l’augmentation constatée du taux de panne des liaisons optiques entre les noeuds du réseau.

My research focused on a novel actor category in the making city process, the “militant entrepreneur”. Common to them is the use of quite a few claims of the social movement while their register of actions take place within an entrepreneurial activity. My PhD is done within the company La Fabrique des Territoires Innovants (with special French contract named CIFRE) and I had the opportunity to participate to the first phase of the competition “Réinventer Paris”. In this article, through this case, I will discuss how the militant entrepreneurs use the participation. Firstly I will focused on the articulation of the notions of participation and innovation in the competition, both as vector of improvement of public policy and as an encouragement to the militant entrepreneurs to be actors of the urban project. Furthermore little attention has so far been given to the figure of the entrepreneurial actor in the participatory literature. Then I will approach the methodology of project management, the design thinking, used by La Fabrique des Territoires Innovants, by exploring an analysis grid of the participation as a public action instrument., Ma recherche porte sur une nouvelle catégorie d’acteurs du processus de fabrique de la ville, les « entrepreneurs militants ». Ils ont en commun d’à la fois mobiliser un certain nombre de revendications issues des mouvements sociaux tout en inscrivant leur registre d’action dans une activité entrepreneuriale. Dans le cadre de ma thèse en contrat CIFRE à la Fabrique des Territoires Innovants, j’ai eu l’occasion de participer à la première phase du concours Réinventer Paris. Dans cet article, j’aborderai donc à travers ce cas la façon dont les entrepreneurs militants se saisissent de la participation. Je proposerai tout d’abord de s’intéresser au cadre du concours qui articule les notions d’innovation et de participation à la fois comme vecteur d’amélioration des politiques publiques, mais également d’encouragement à l’entrée de ces entrepreneurs militants dans le projet urbain. Par ailleurs, la littérature sur la participation ne s’est pas beaucoup intéressée jusqu’à présent à la figure de l’acteur entrepreneurial. J’aborderai donc dans un deuxième temps, le dispositif de design thinking de conduite de projet mis en place par la Fabrique, prise comme exemple d’entrepreneur militant en proposant une exploration d’une grille d’analyse sur la participation comme instrument d’action publique.

The French architectural heritage is a considerable wealth to be preserved. In this context, a methodology of structural diagnoses of historical monuments is proposed. This type of building is mainly composed of masonry that should be understood. The CNAM Library, masterpiece of gothic architecture is an ideal case study to validate the proposed approach. This edifice presents pathologies as crack pattern and tilts walls. The objective of this work is to identify the origin of these pathologies and to estimate the safety factor of the ruin of the building. First of all, an investigation carried out on the building is presented. It includes historical research, a campaign of non-destructive and destructive testing radar, sound velocity, core sampling and structural monitoring. From this first study, some potential causes of the pathologies are ruled out. Furthermore, the heterogeneous nature of the masonry leads to consider this material at different scales. A damage model is used at each scale in order to simulate the mechanical behavior of this geo-material. A homogenization process is then introduced. It consists to the evaluation of the homogeneous behavior of the masonry from its geometry and the mechanical characteristics of its components. This method allows considering the heterogeneity of masonry at the structural scale. The mechanicals characteristics of the calcareous materials are obtain from sound velocity measurement through the use of correlation curves. The homogenization procedure consists to simulate the behavior of a numerical masonry wall subjected to a compressive test. Then, a calculation at the structural scale is proposed. A compression failure criterion on the normal strength is proposed to estimate the safety factor of the structure according to the international standards. Firstly, it includes a partial safety factor to consider the dispersion of resistance of the masonry. Secondly, another coefficient takes into account the compressive failure phenomenon at a crack section. Global analysis of a span of the church is presented. The load history is simulated. The comparison of the measured crack on site with the profile obtained by the model leads to estimate the current state of stress of the building. A margin of security is proposed. Finally, a comprehensive summary of this study is presented., Le but de la thèse est d’élaborer une méthodologie de diagnostic structurel des monumentshistoriques en maçonnerie de pierre. Elle se concentre sur les édifices gothiques comportant desvoûtes à croisées d’ogives. La bibliothèque du CNAM à Paris, chef d’oeuvre de l’architecturegothique datant du 13è siècle, constitue un cas d’étude idéal pour valider la démarche proposée.Cet édifice présente des pathologies dont il convient de déterminer l’origine. Le but final estd’estimer la marge de sécurité de la construction vis-à-vis de la ruine.Après une recherche en archives, une campagne d’investigations est menée sur l’édifice.Elle comprend une campagne d’essais destructifs et non-destructifs, ainsi qu’une reconnaissancedes désordres présents sur l’ouvrage. A l’issue de ces premières recherches, les causespotentielles de désordres sont listées et analysées.Dans un second temps, la recherche est portée sur le comportement mécanique desmaçonneries. Le caractère hétérogène de la maçonnerie conduit à considérer ce matériau àdifférentes échelles. A l’échelle « micro », les pierres et le mortier sont étudiés séparément. Lescaractéristiques des calcaires sont obtenues à partir de méthodes ultrasoniques. Un modèled’endommagement orthotrope est développé et amélioré pour s’adapter spécifiquement auxmaçonneries de pierres de taille. Pour réaliser l’analyse structurelle (échelle « macro »), uneprocédure d’homogénéisation est ensuite développée.Sur la base des résultats de ces deux premières étapes, une étude de la structure de labibliothèque du CNAM de Paris est menée. Un critère de rupture en compression est proposé enrespectant la logique des normes internationales. Il introduit un coefficient de sécurité partielleet un coefficient dit « de fonctionnement » spécialement créés pour l’étude des structuresmaçonnées anciennes et adaptables à tout type de sollicitations. L’analyse globale d’une travéede l’édifice est présentée. Le phasage constructif et l’histoire de chargement des murs et desvoûtes sont simulés. La comparaison du schéma de fissuration observé sur site avec le profil defissuration déterminé par le calcul fournit une estimation de l’état de contrainte actuel del’édifice. La marge de sécurité vis-à-vis de la ruine de la structure est alors déduite. Enfin, unesynthèse globale de cette étude de cas est présentée et généralisée à tout édifice en maçonneriesanciennes.

International audience; La France compte aujourd’hui plus de 4500 piscines publiques (PP), ou privées d’accès payant, réparties sur son territoire, qui fournissent le plus souvent des services de qualité orientés sur l’apprentissage de la natation, la détente, le sport ou encore la forme. D’un point de vue systémique, ces équipements comptent de nombreux acteurs tant internes qu’externes, usagers, professionnels ou bénévoles, qui tentent tous de s’adapter à leur complexité croissante. Dans une société de plus en plus sécuritaire, ou l’on recherche de plus en plus un coupable ou un responsable, ou les condamnations pour fautes sont de plus en plus fréquentes lors des accidents, qu’en est-il de la sécurité dans les PP ?Des travaux scientifiques récents, des missions d’étude in situ, des entretiens ou observations de centaines d’acteurs professionnels, des entretiens d’experts, une analyse de quelques modèles étrangers, ... nous laissent à penser que le niveau sécuritaire de nos établissements de bain reste très perfectible (Soulé & Vignac, 2012). Cet article vise à montrer, à partir d’un rapide diagnostic de la situation sécuritaire, que notre connaissance (ou nos représentations) restent très approximatives sur l’accidentologie en PP et que des solutions existent pour améliorer le niveau de performance de nos systèmes. Les enjeux sont nombreux et concernent bien sûr la réduction de véritables drames humains, mais tout autant le niveau de responsabilité des acteurs du système ou la production d’un service d’une meilleure qualité, et notamment exempt de risques « raisonnablement prévisibles ».

S–N curve is the main tool to analyze and predict fatigue lifetime of a metallic material, component or structure. But, standard models based on mechanic of rupture theory or standard probabilistic models for analyzing S–N curves could not fit S–N curve on the whole range of cycles without microstructure information. This information is obtained from costly fractography investigation rarely available in the framework of industrial production. On the other hand, statistical models for fatigue lifetime do not need microstructure information but they could not be used to service life predictions because they have no material interpretation. Moreover, fatigue test results are widely scattered, especially for High Cycle Fatigue region where split S–N curves appear. This is the motivation to propose a new probabilistic model. This model is a specific mixture model based on a fracture mechanic approach, and does not require microstructure information. It makes use of the fact that the fatigue lifetime can be regarded as the sum of the crack initiation and propagation lifes. The model parameters are estimated with an EM algorithm for which the Maximisation step combines Newton–Raphson optimization method and Monte Carlo integrations. The resulting model provides a parsimonious representation of S–N curves with parameters easily interpreted by mechanic or material engineers. This model has been applied to simulated and real fatigue test data sets. These numerical experiments highlight its ability to produce a good fit of the S–N curves on the whole range of cycles. We must also notice that this model is proposed for large database ( > 50 data).

International audience; In this paper, a complete control architecture is proposed for the voltage conditioning stage of a hybrid power generation system composed of a Stirling Engine coupled with a supercapacitor. Such a solar energy-based generation system aims at providing electricity to off-grid regions. The novelty of the proposed architecture is that it completely handles constraints on all the state variables of the electric stage while providing near to optimal performances in terms of settling time. The derivation of the control law enables a deep understanding of the main issues involved in the success of the closed-loop control. Moreover, the resulting feedback laws are real-time compatible and are given in a complete explicit form.

The role of somatic cells in dairy processes and products is ill-defined in most studies because the role of these cells combines also the concomitance of physicochemical modifications of milk, bacterial count, and the udder inflammation in the presence of high somatic cell count. The aim of this review is to focus on the role of somatic cells themselves and of endogenous enzymes from somatic cells in milk, in dairy transformation processes, and in characteristics of final products overcoming biases due to other factors. The immune function of somatic cells in the udder defense and their protective role in milk will be primarily considered. Different characteristics of milk induced by various somatic cell counts, types, and their endogenous enzymes influencing directly the technological properties of milk and the final quality of dairy products will be discussed as well. By comparing methods used in other studies and eliminating biases due to other factors not considered in these studies, a new approach has been suggested to evaluate the effective role of somatic cells on dairy processes and products. In addition, this new approach allows the characterization of somatic cells and their endogenous enzymes and, in future research, will allow the clarification of mechanisms involved in the release of these components from somatic cells during dairy processes, particularly in cheese technologies.

International audience; We compared the powers of the likelihood ratio test (LRT) and the Pearson correlation test (CT) from empirical Bayes estimates (EBEs) for various designs and shrinkages in the context of nonlinear mixed-effect modeling. Clinical trial simulation was performed with a simple pharmacokinetic model with various weight (WT) effects on volume (V). Data sets were analyzed with NONMEM 7.2 using first-order conditional estimation with interaction and stochastic approximation expectation maximization algorithms. The powers of LRT and CT in detecting the link between individual WT and V or clearance were computed to explore hidden or induced correlations, respectively. Although the different designs and variabilities could be related to the large shrinkage of the EBEs, type 1 errors and powers were similar in LRT and CT in all cases. Power was mostly influenced by covariate effect size and, to a lesser extent, by the informativeness of the design. Further studies with more models are needed.

International audience; This paper concerns the integration of RFID (Radio Frequency IDentification) technologies in helicopters. A global RFID system, including RFID tags (passive, battery assisted and active), reading modules and data concentrator, will be embedded in helicopters. Such an integration requires a positioning model, which must consider technological choices of the on-board components. The proposed approach combines an optimization model and a physical model to determine an optimal covering of each tag by at least one reading module. This covering is based on radio wave propagation. The optimization model is derived from a location model with specific constraints. Experimental results validate the approach in an industrial context.

International audience; Nuclear steam generators are subject to clogging of their internal parts which causes safety issues. Diagnosis methodologies are needed to optimize maintenance operations. Clogging alters the dynamic behaviour of steam generators and particularly the response of the wide range level (WRL - a pressure measurement) to power transients. A numerical model of this phenomenon has previously been developed. Its input variables describe the spatial distribution of clogging and its output is a discretization of the WRL dynamic response. The objective of the present study is to characterize the information about the clogging state of a steam generator that can be inferred from the observation of its WRL response. A methodology based on several statistical techniques is implemented to answer that question. Principal component analysis reveals that clogging alters the WRL response mainly in two distinct ways. Accordingly, the output can be summarized into a vector of dimension 2. A sensitivity analysis is carried out to rank the input variables by magnitude of influence. It has shown that they can be divided into two groups corresponding to the two sides of the steam generator. Finally, sliced inverse regression is used to reduce the input dimension from 16 to 2. A sampling issue that arises when the input dimension is high is addressed. The simplification of the original problem yields a diagnosis methodology based on response surface techniques.

International audience; The Ensemble Kalman Filter (EnKF) has been successfully applied in petroleum engineering during the past few years to constrain reservoir models to production or seismic data. This sequential assimilation method provides a set of updated static variables (porosity, permeability) and dynamic variables (pressure, saturation) at each assimilation time. However, several limitations can be pointed out. In particular, the method does not prevent petrophysical realizations from departing from prior information. In addition, petrophysical properties can reach extreme (non-physical) values. In this work, we propose to combine the EnKF with two parameterization methods designed to preserve second-order statistical properties: pilot points and gradual deformation. The aim is to prevent the departure of the constrained petrophysical property distributions from prior information. Over/under estimations should also be avoided. The two algorithms are applied to a synthetic case. Several parameter configurations are investigated in order to identify solutions improving the performance of the method.

Carbonation and chloride ingress are the main causes of reinforced concrete degradation. A lot of studies describe these two phenomena separately but only few studies state a possible coupling. However, the coupling of both phenomena exists. The corrosion of reinforcement due to chloride ions occurs more often in marine environments or in the presence of deicing salts while carbonation occurs systematically, in a more or less high degree depending on environmental conditions (humidity, temperature...). The aim of this thesis was to quantify the different phases of the cement matrix and its chloride binding by means of chloride binding isotherms for carbonated and non-carbonated cement based materials. These chloride binding isotherms, obtained by the equilibrium method, showed that the partially or totally carbonated cement matrix are bound fewer chlorides than the non carbonated ones. Complementary techniques such as the thermogravimetry (TGA), the X-rays diffraction (XRD) and the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) analyses were used and allowed to understand why this binding decrease occurs. A decrease of Friedel's salt and chlorides bound in the C-S-H was showed in the carbonated materials. These decreases were quantified and are due to a modification of the phases containing chloride (such as aluminates, sulfo-aluminates and C-S-H phases) during carbonation process. The porous network, was observed by mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP), was also modified (decrease of the macroporosity and the connectivity for carbonated cement matrix due to formation of calcium carbonate). The other aim was to correlate all these modifications with the ions transport properties. Chloride diffusion and migration tests (with or without sulfates) were obtained as well as the measurements of electric resistivity. The experimental results showed that the apparent chloride diffusion coefficient is higher in the carbonated cement materials. Some diffusion tests were performed in presence of both chlorides and sulfates, which showed the competition of these two ions to bind on the cement matrix. Cement materials (concrete and cement paste) were designed without or with supplementary cementing materials (metakaolin, fly ash, slag) and the properties of these materials were followed at different curing time.; La carbonatation atmosphérique et la pénétration des ions chlorures sont les principales causes du déclenchement de la corrosion des armatures dans les bétons armés. La carbonatation intervient en effet dans tout ouvrage dès le décoffrage et il suffit que cet ouvrage soit aussi par exemple situé à proximité d'eau de mer pour que les embruns apportent des ions chlorures dans le matériau. L'objectif de cette thèse a été de quantifier les différentes phases de la matrice cimentaire et ses capacités de fixation des ions chlorures par le biais d'isothermes d'interactions pour des matériaux sains et carbonatés. Ces isothermes d'interactions obtenues notamment par la méthode des équilibres ont permis de voir que les matrices partiellement ou totalement carbonatées fixaient moins d'ions chlorures que les matrices saines. L'utilisation de moyens complémentaires d'analyses tels que l'analyse thermogravimétrique (ATG), la diffraction des rayons X (DRX) et la résonnance magnétique nucléaire (RMN) a permis de mieux comprendre cette perte de fixation. Une diminution des sels de Friedel et des chlorures fixés par les C-S-H a été ainsi mise en évidence dans les matériaux carbonatés. Ces diminutions qui ont été quantifiées sont attribuées à une modification sous carbonatation des phases capables de fixer les ions chlorures (phases aluminates, sulfo-aluminates et C-S-H). Des différences au niveau du réseau poreux ont été également mises en évidence par la porosimétrie par intrusion de mercure (diminution de la macroporosité et de la connectivité en général pour les matrices carbonatées par formation de CaCO3). L'objectif a été aussi de corréler toutes ces modifications obserÎes avec les propriétés de transport des ions qui ont été obtenues par des tests de diffusion et migration des ions chlorures (et/ou sulfates) ainsi que des mesures de résistivité électrique. Les résultats expérimentaux ont montré que le coefficient de diffusion apparent est plus grand dans les matériaux carbonatés. Certaines expériences de diffusion faites en présence à la fois d'ions chlorures et sulfates ont aussi montré la concurrence de ces deux ions pour se fixer à la matrice cimentaire. Les matériaux cimentaires testés (bétons et pâtes) ont été formulés sans ou avec additions minérales (métakaolin, cendres volantes, laitier) et les propriétés de ces matériaux ont été obserÎes à différents âges.

Carbonation and chloride ingress are the main causes of reinforced concrete degradation. A lot of studies describe these two phenomena separately but only few studies state a possible coupling. However, the coupling of both phenomena exists. The corrosion of reinforcement due to chloride ions occurs more often in marine environments or in the presence of deicing salts while carbonation occurs systematically, in a more or less high degree depending on environmental conditions (humidity, temperature...). The aim of this thesis was to quantify the different phases of the cement matrix and its chloride binding by means of chloride binding isotherms for carbonated and non-carbonated cement based materials. These chloride binding isotherms, obtained by the equilibrium method, showed that the partially or totally carbonated cement matrix are bound fewer chlorides than the non carbonated ones. Complementary techniques such as the thermogravimetry (TGA), the X-rays diffraction (XRD) and the nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) analyses were used and allowed to understand why this binding decrease occurs. A decrease of Friedel's salt and chlorides bound in the C-S-H was showed in the carbonated materials. These decreases were quantified and are due to a modification of the phases containing chloride (such as aluminates, sulfo-aluminates and C-S-H phases) during carbonation process. The porous network, was observed by mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP), was also modified (decrease of the macroporosity and the connectivity for carbonated cement matrix due to formation of calcium carbonate). The other aim was to correlate all these modifications with the ions transport properties. Chloride diffusion and migration tests (with or without sulfates) were obtained as well as the measurements of electric resistivity. The experimental results showed that the apparent chloride diffusion coefficient is higher in the carbonated cement materials. Some diffusion tests were performed in presence of both chlorides and sulfates, which showed the competition of these two ions to bind on the cement matrix. International audience; Training simulators that provide realistic visual and haptic feedback during cell indentation tasks are currently inves tigated. Complex cell geometry inherent to biological cells and intricate mechanical properties drive the need for precise mechan ical and numerical modeling to assure accurate cell deformation and force calculations. Advances in alternative finite-element for mulation, such as the mass-tensor approach, have reached a state, where they are applicable to model soft-cell deformation in real time. The geometrical characteristics and the mechanical proper ties of different cells are determined with atomic force microscopy (AFM) indentation. A real-time, haptics-enabled simulator for cell centered indentation has been developed, which utilizes the AFM data (mechanical and geometrical properties of embryonic stem cells) to accurately replicate the indentation task and predict the cell deformation during indentation in real time. This tool can be used as a mechanical marker to characterize the biological state of the cell. The operator is able to feel the change in the stiff ness during cell deformation between fixed and live cells in real time. A comparative study with finite-element simulations using a commercial software and the experimental data demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed physically based model.

As the impetus of life cycle assessment (LCA) and life cycle thinking (LCT) in waste management policy is increasing, decision makers may face conflicting advice on the potential environmental impacts of competing end-of-life treatment options. This paper discusses the problem posed by the Waste Framework Directive, 2008/98/EC, where LCT is required to justify the departure of waste streams from the waste hierarchy. This paper places LCA of waste management systems in the context of applying ‘normal’ science to ‘post-normal’ problems. The current application of LCT in waste policy is reviewed in order to determine the epistemic basis to such applications. Furthermore, several cases are reviewed where controversy has surrounded the a priori purpose of applying LCT; the justification of a clear-cut solution to environmental problems. We show how the excess of objectivity, the social construction of knowledge and the playing out of actors’ games may limit the ability of LCT to offer an authoritative justification for the derogation of waste streams from the waste hierarchy. However, one of the major benefits of LCT lies in its ability to change actors problem perception. Hence, the application of LCT may be better suited to both the identification of areas of environmental impact and the positioning of waste management solutions further up the waste policy agenda.

International audience; The paper contributes to No-Reference video quality assessment of broadcasted HD video over IP networks and DVB. In this work we have enhanced our bottom-up spatio-temporal saliency map model by considering semantics of the visual scene. Thus we propose a new saliency map model based on face detection that we called semantic saliency map. A new fusion method has been proposed to merge the bottom-up saliency maps with the semantic saliency map. We show that our NR metric WMBER weighted by the spatio-temporal-semantic saliency map provides higher results then the WMBER weighted by the bottom-up spatio-temporal saliency map. Tests are performed on two H.264/AVC video databases for video quality assessment over lossy networks.

The paper contributes to video quality assessment of delivered content without reference. We propose a no-reference video quality assessment metric taking into account the behavior of the human visual system. The proposed metric called Weighted Macro-Block Error Rate (WMBER) is based on macro-block error detection and is weighted by visual saliency maps. Both measures are extracted from a partially decoded H.264 AVC stream. First of all, we propose a new saliency map fusion method to improve the spatiotemporal saliency model. Then a supervised learning method called Similarity Weighted Average is considered to predict subjective MOS from objective video quality metric. The Similarity Weighted Average method is improved in order to be adapted to a training database or a content. The performance of the proposed metric is evaluated on two subjective experimental databases from LaBRI and IRCCyN. The results are compared with two Full-Reference metrics MSE and SSIM. The evaluation shows that the proposed metric provides an accurate prediction of subjective measures.

International audience; This paper presents an object tracking system. Our goal is to create a real-time object tracker that can handle occlusions, track multiple objects that are rigid or deformable, and on indoor or outdoor sequences. This system is composed of two main modules: motion detection and object tracking. Motion detection is achieved using an improved Gaussian mixture model. Based on multiple hypothesis of object appearance, tracking is achieved on various levels. The core of this module uses regions local and global information to match these regions over the frame sequence. Then higher level instances are used to handle uncertainty, such as missmatches, objects disappearance, and occlusions. Finally, merges and splits are detected for further occlusions detection.

International audience; This paper contributes to objective video quality assessment of broadcasted HDTV content without reference. In this context we present a new No-Reference video quality metric taking into account the behavior of Human Visual System. This new metric called WMBER is based on macro-blocks error detection weighted by saliency maps computed at the decoder side. Moreover, both macro-block error detection and saliency maps processing require only partial decoding allowing real-time performance. A subjective experiment has been carried out to evaluate the performances of the proposed metric. The results are compared to the Full Reference metric MSE. The evaluation of the results shows that the proposed method provides a very good prediction of subjective measures.

International audience; Atomic force microscopy (AFM) has emerged as a promising tool to characterize the mechanical properties of biological materials and cells. In our studies, undifferentiated and early differentiating mouse embryonic stem cells (mESCs) were assessed individually using an AFM system to determine if we could detect changes in their mechanical properties by surface probing. Probes with pyramidal and spherical tips were assessed, as were different analytical models for evaluating the data. The combination of AFM probing with a spherical tip and analysis using the Hertz model provided the best fit to the experimental data obtained and thus provided the best approximation of the elastic modulus. Our results showed that after only 6 days of differentiation, individual cell stiffness increased significantly with early differentiating mESCs having an elastic modulus two- to threefold higher than undifferentiated mESCs, regardless of cell line (R1 or D3 mESCs) or treatment. Singletouch (indentation) probing of individual cells is minimally invasive compared to other techniques. Therefore, this method of mechanical phenotyping should prove to be a valuable tool in the development of improved methods of identification and targeted cellular differentiation of embryonic, adult, and induced-pluripotent stem cells for therapeutic and diagnostic purposes.

International audience; Human vision system is very complex and has been studied for many years specifically for purposes of efficient encoding of visual, e.g. video content from digital TV. There have been physiological and psychological evidences which indicate that viewers do not pay equal attention to all exposed visual information, but only focus on certain areas known as focus of attention (FOA) or saliency regions. In this work, we propose a novel based objective quality assessment metric, for assessing the perceptual quality of decoded video sequences affected by transmission errors and packed loses. The proposed method weights the Mean Square Error (MSE), Weighted-MSE (WMSE), according to the calculated saliency map at each pixel. Our method was validated trough subjective quality experiments.

L'analyse descriptive de ces interactions en situation, montrera en quoi l'introduction des technologies implique, pour les participants, de redéfinir le cadre de l'évaluation et leurs pratiques de correction. Nous verrons plus précisément le rôle joué par l'artefact dans la reconstruction du sens et de l'ordre de leurs pratiques habituelles afin de légitimer leur rôle et les notes qu'ils attribuent.

International audience; La promulgation du foie gras comme patrimoine gastronomique et culturel français en janvier 2006, nous invite à questionner le processus de patrimonialisation du foie gras en France. La patrimonialisation est habituellement étudiée dans les interactions entre les acteurs des filières courte et longue. Des travaux récents invitent à renouveler cette approche en ajoutant les professionnels des métiers de bouche à l’analyse et à en inscrire l’étude dans la longue durée. Les trajectoires sur le long terme de trois catégories d’acteurs sont ici retracées par l’étude des traditions et des métiers de bouche, industrielle et fermière. Cette analyse fait notamment ressortir des relations entre chefs cuisiniers et industriels et la mobilisation de la cuisine du gras dans l’offre agritouristique. Ces aspects confirment l’intérêt d’envisager l’analyse des patrimonialisations en passant du système binaire des acteurs de la production (filières courtes et longues) à un système ternaire des acteurs de la valorisation (industriels, producteurs fermiers et professionnels des métiers de bouche).In January 2006, the production of foie gras was declared «patrimoine gastronomique et culturel français » (French gastronomic and cultural heritage). But how has foie gras become food heritage in France? Foie gras as food heritage is usually analyzed through interactions between the actors of the food-processing industry and farming networks. Recent works re-use this approach in a long-term perspective, adding the professionals of catering trade to the analysis. Long-term trajectories of three categories of actors are described here through the study of catering trade, food-processing industry and farmer traditions. This analysis brings out the relations between chefs and industrialists and the implication of the cuisine du gras in the agrotourism experience. It confirms the interest in renewing the analyses of food heritage construction, going from a binary system of production actors (food-processing industry and farming networks) to a ternary system of valuation actors (industrials, production farmers and catering trade professionals).

This paper presents a computer vision system that analyzes a scene, recognizes human behavior, and produces a semantic interpretation of the recognized behavior. Scene analysis consists of detecting motion and tracking detected objects. Then, the system detects events that define the current behavior of a person. Once behaviors are classified the system recognizes various predefined scenarios. Finally sentences are generated to describe each person's action in the scene. Our research is developed in order to build a realtime application that recognizes human behaviors while shopping. In particular, the system detects customer interests and interactions with various products of a point of purchase.

International audience; Hydrogen sulphide removal in a Waste Water Treatment Plant at semi-industrial scale in a compact wet scrubber has been investigated. The gas residence time in the scrubber was reduced to 30 ms using a NaOCl caustic scrubbing solution. The contactor is composed of a wire mesh packing structure where liquid and gas flow co-currently at high velocity (> 12 m.s-1). H2S removal percentages higher than 95% could be achieved whereas a moderate pressure drop was measured (< 4000 Pa). Both the hydrodynamic and chemical conditions can influence the efficiency of the process. Correlations were developed to predict both the pressure drop and the H2S removal efficiency at given operating conditions.

International audience; When people gaze at real scenes, their visual attention is driven both by a set of bottom-up processes coming from the signal properties of the scene and also from top-down effects such as the task, the affective state, prior knowledge, or the semantic context. The context of this study is an assessment of manufactured objects (here car cab interior). From this dedicated context, this work describes a set of methods to analyze the eye-movements during the visual scene evaluation. But these methods can be adapted to more general contexts. We define a statistical model to explain the eye fixations measured experimentally by eye-tracking even when the ratio signal/noise is bad or lacking of raw data. One of the novelties of the approach is to use complementary experimental data obtained with the "Bubbles" paradigm. The proposed model is an additive mixture of several a priori spatial density distributions of factors guiding visual attention. The "Bubbles" paradigm is adapted here to reveal the semantic density distribution which represents here the cumulative effects of the top-down factors. Then, the contribution of each factor is compared depending on the product and on the task, in order to highlight the properties of the visual attention and the cognitive activity in each situation
