This Collective Article presents new information about the occurrence of 20 taxa that belong to six Phyla: one Cnidaria, one Ctenophora, two Annelida, four Mollusca, two Arthropoda, and ten Chordata. These records were reported from ten countries from the western to the eastern Mediterranean Sea as follows: Spain: early colonization signs of the Mar Menor lagoon by the cigar jellyfish Olindias muelleri; France: second record of the sea chub of the genus Kyphosus in French Mediterranean waters; Italy: first record of the marbled crab Pachygrapsus maurus in Sardinian waters; first records of the polychaetes Malmgrenia polypapillata and Levinsenia tribranchiata in the Tyrrhenian Sea; new record of the deep-sea squid Ancistrocheirus lesueurii in the Tyrrhenian Sea; first record of the pignosed arrowtooth eel Dysomma brevirostre in the Adriatic Sea; Tunisia: first documented record of the blue butterfish Stromateus fiatola and new record of the iconic great white shark Carcharodon carcharias in the Gulf of Gabes; Slovenia: first records of the sea slug Diaphorodoris alba and the sharpnose sevengill shark Heptranchias perlo; Montenegro: new record of the rare tope shark Galeorhinus galeus; Greece: new records of the rabbitfish Chimaera monstrosa and the electric ray Tetronarce nobiliana; first published record of the nuribranch Discodoris rosi; Turkey: first record of the ctenophore Hormiphora plumosa at country level; first records of the anomuran decapod Munida speciosa and the Mediterranean tripodfish, Bathypterois mediterraneus from the Levantine Sea; Cyprus: first documented record of the nuribranch Scyllaea pelagica; Lebanon: first record of the killer whale Orcinus orca from the Levantine Sea.

These new records were found in six (6) different ecoregions as follows: Alboran Sea: Second and easternmost record of the sponge Chalinula nigra in the Mediterranean Sea; Western Mediterranean: first record of the rare gobid Gobius couchi for Spain, based on both morphological and molecular data; new records for the rare ascidian Ciona edwardsi from the Marine Protected Area of Tavolara, Sardinia; several records for four (4) different species of black coral, Antipathella subpinnata, Antipathes dichotoma, Leiopathes glaberrima and Parantipathes larix from the Aeolian Archipelago, all of which are currently threatened and/or protected at a Mediterranean level; the first documented records of the sea lamprey Petromyzon marinus in Calabria, which is considered “Critically Endangered” in Italy; first record in the Tyrrhenian Sea and second record in the Ionian Sea for the crab Ocypode cursor, which seems to be rapidly expanding its distribution range across Italian waters; Adriatic Sea: Additional records of yellowmouth barracuda, Sphyraena viridensis, in the northern Adriatic, which seems to be experimenting a meridionalization process in the region; Aegean Sea: First confirmed record of the iconic gastropod Bursa scrobilator scrobilator in the eastern Mediterranean Sea; an additional record for the vulnerable shark Dalatias licha, also being the largest individual caught in eastern Mediterranean waters till the time of capture; an additional record for the rare crab Distolambrus maltzami, suggesting the species might be more morphologically variable than originally thought; first documented record for the myctophid Hygophum hygomii in both Turkish waters and the north Aegean Sea; additional records for the tuna Katsuwonus pelamis and the sunfish Ranzania laevis in the eastern Mediterranean, pointing out that both species might not be as rare in the area as previously thought; Levantine Sea: additional records for the rare stingray Taeniura grabata in Turkish waters, Their study has been fully supported by Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ) under the project IP - 2016-06-5251. Jellyfishes, which are one of the most important consumers in marine ecosystems, may have detri-mental effects on fish stocks that have economic value. Therefore, identifying and monitoring jelly-fish presence is important. We observed four individuals of symbiotic rhizostome scyphozoan Cot-ylorhiza tuberculata in the vicinity of the Princes’ Islands Archipelago, in the Northeast Sea of Marmara, Turkey in September 2020. Although this species is a common member of gelatinous plankton in the Mediterranean Sea, the present study is the first record from the Sea of Marmara.

The Istanbul University, Science Faculty, Hydrobiology Museum holds the only documented fish collection of Turkey. It contains 318 specimens belonging to 29 Lessepsian fish species. The aim of this paper is to present the collection of Lessepsian fishes in the museum.

One specimen of Belone svetovidovi (SL: 326 mm, TL: 349 mm) was captured by net off Samandagi (Hatay) on 29 April 2004. Lepidotrigla dieuzeidei (SL: 102 mm, TL: 126 mm) was obtained by bottom trawl haul on 24 April 2004 at a depth of 77 m in Iskenderun Bay. Thus, B. svetovidovi and L. dieuzeidei reported in this study is the first record for Turkish coast of the Eastern Mediterranean.

Two specimens of Starry smoothhound, Mustelus asterias Cloquet, 1821 were captured from three miles off the coast of Şile (south-western Black sea) on 19 November 2000 at a depth ca. 90 m. This paper is on the presence of M. asterias in the Black Sea.

Bu araştırma 221 ile 777 m arasındaki derinliklerde ve İskenderun Körfezi'nin yaklaşık 9 ? 24 deniz mili arası mesafede gerçekleştirilmiştir. Şubat ? Mayıs ? Ağustos ? Kasım 2010 tarihlerinde gerçekleştirilen örnekleme çalışmalarında, toplamda 30 trol çekimi yapılmıştır. Bathophilus nigerrimus ve Bathypterois mediterraneus türlerinin Levant Denizi'nin kuzeyinde ilk kez gözlendiği trol çekimlerinde Chondrichthyes klasisinden 9 familyaya ait 13 tür ve Actinopterygii klasisinden 33 familyaya ait 50 tür olmak üzere toplam 63 tür balık elde edilmiştir. Analizler sırasında genellikle kıyısal sularda yaşadığı bilinen Fistularia commersonii'nin tesadüfen elde edildiği varsayılarak hesaplamalara katılmamıştır.Chlorophthalmus agassizi, Coelorhynchus caelorhynchus, Dipturus oxyrinchus, Helicolenus dactylopterus, Lepidorhombus whiffiagonis, Lophius budegassa, Merluccius merluccius, Phycis blennoides, Scyliorhinus canicula, Synchiropus phaeton tüm derinlik aralıklarında rastlanmıştır. C. agassizi türü birim alana düşen birey sayısı, biyokütle ve baskınlık hesaplamalarında en yüksek değerlere sahip tür olmuştur. H. dactylopterus ise en yüksek sıklık değerine sahip tür olmuştur.En yüksek ortalama tür sayısına 200 ? 299 m derinlik aralığında rastlanılmasına karşın en yüksek ortalama birey sayısı 300 ? 399 m derinlik aralığında elde edilmiştir. Shannon-Wiener tür çeşitliliği ve Pielou'nun düzenlilik indeksleri paralellik göstermiş ve en yüksek değerlere 200 ? 299 ve 700 ? 800 m derinlikler konturlarında ulaşılmıştır.Örnekleme dönemlerine bakıldığında ortalama 19 tür ile Ağustos ayı ve 92434 birey ile Kasım ayı en yüksek değerler ile temsil edilirken, hesaplanan Margalef tür zenginliği indeksi ve Simpson baskınlık-çeşitlilik indeksi değerleri Kasım ayında en düşük değerlerde gözlenmiştir.Levant Denizi'nde ve ülkemiz sularında üst kıta yamacında gerçekleştirilen bu ilk kapsamlı çalışmada balık türlerinin uzamsal ve zamansal dağılımları incelenmiştir. 800 m olarak kabul edilen üst kıta yamacı alt sınırının Batı ve Orta Akdeniz ile benzer şekilde 400 ? 500 (450) m olduğu ortaya konmuştur. This study carried out between 221 and 777 m, offshore of Iskenderun Bay about 9 ? 24 nautical miles on February ? May ? August ? November 2010 with 30 trawl operations. In total 63 species (13 Chondrichthyes species belonging to 9 families and 50 Actinopterygii species belonging to 33 families) were collected. It is presented the first observation of B. nigerrimus and B. mediterraneus in the northern of Levantine Sea. F. commersonii was excluded from the analysis due to assume incidental catching because of found in coastal waters.Chlorophthalmus agassizi, Coelorhynchus caelorhynchus, Dipturus oxyrinchus, Helicolenus dactylopterus, Lepidorhombus whiffiagonis, Lophius budegassa, Merluccius merluccius, Phycis blennoides, Scyliorhinus canicula, Synchiropus phaeton were found in all depth ranges of 200 ? 800 m. C. agassizi has the highest abundance per unit area between fish species, biomass and dominancy as well. H. dactylopterus was estimated as highest frequency in sampling periods. The maximum number of species was observed in 200 ? 299 m depth contours but the highest abundance score was obtained in 300 ? 399 m depths. Shannon-Wiener index and Pielou?s evenness index achieved the maximum values in 200 ? 299 and 700 ? 800 depths contours.In sampling periods, the highest average number of fish species obtained on August with nineteen species. In November, high abundance values were estimated with 92434 specimens, despite lowest value for Margalef diversity index and Simpson's dominance index results among sampling periods.In the present study, spatial and temporal distribution of fish species were examined in the upper slope of Levantine Sea belong to depth ranges. Lower limit of upper slope that is theoretically adopted as 800 m depth, is revealed 400 ? 500 (450) m depth as the West and Central Mediterranean Sea. 120

This manuscript reports on four new jellyfish species in the Sea of Marmara (Turkey) (the scyphozoans Mawia benovici and Drymonema dalmatinum, hydrozoan Aequorea forskalea, and thaliacean Salpa maxima) based on plankton collections made in the years 2019–2021. This is the first record of Mawia benovici in both Turkish coastal areas and the Sea of Marmara. The jellyfish that was previously re-corded as Drymonema sp. in the repetition Sea of Marmara was identified at the species level as D. dalmatinum. Furthermore, their possible introduction pathways are briefly discussed here

Bu çalışmada, Gökçeada çevresinde bulunan kriptobentik balık topluluklarının uzamsal dağılımlarının incelenmesi ve türlerin ekolojik tercihlerinin ortaya konması amaçlanmıştır.Çalışma, Ağustos ve Ekim aylarında, 0-15 m derinlik aralığında bulunan sert substrat habitatlarda gerçekleştirilmiş olup; anestezik madde ile desteklenen sualtı görsel sayım metodu uygulanmıştır. Verinin standardizasyonu için 1x1 m boyutunda bir kuadrat kullanılmış ve birim alandaki (m2) bolluk üzerinden hesaplamalar yapılmıştır. Kuadrat dışında kalan türler ayrıca not edilmiştir. Sualtı gözlem ve örneklemeleri sonucunda tamamı kemikli balıklardan oluşan toplam 48 bentik ve pelajik tür gözlenmiş ve bunlardan dört familyaya ait olan 25 tür kriptobentik olarak listelenmiştir. Kriptobentik komunite yapısına dair ekolojik tercihleri incelemek adına literatürde en çok kullanılan dört faktör belirlenmiştir. Bu faktörler; dip yapısı, derinlik, eğim ve vejetasyon varlığı/yokluğudur. Kriptobentik balıkların dağılımına etki eden ve habitat tercihlerini belirleyen en önemli parametreler, dip yapısı ve derinlik olarak analiz edilmiştir. Baskınlık ve frekans analizlerinde Gobius bucchichi ve Tripterygion delaisi türleri yoğunluk göstermiş, geriye kalan türler seyrek olarak tespit edilmiştir.
