In this manuscript, the chemi-ionization (CI) processes in atom - Rydberg atom collisions are examined. We obtained the cross-sections, as well as rate coefficients for CI processes in potassium and sodium collisions for principal quantum numbers 5⩽n⩽25 in the 500 K ⩽T⩽1500 K temperature region. The presented data could be useful for the improvement of analysis and modelling of weakly ionized layers of different atmospheres and cosmic objects where these and other CI processes could change excited state populations and the free electron density, consequently affecting the optical characteristics.

This study describes molecular detection, high prevalence and geographical distribution of blueberry latent virus (BlLV) in Serbia. BlLV was discovered in the USA and the main signature of the virus is latent infection. A number of 110 samples from 14 highbush blueberry cultivars collected from different locations in 9 municipalities of Serbia were tested by RT-PCR with BlLV-specific primers. The presence of BlLV was confirmed in 69 samples (62.7%) in all surveyed locations. BlLV was confirmed in single infections, but also in a mixed infection with blueberry mosaic-associated virus and blueberry red ringspot virus. To access the genetic diversity, direct sequencing of the fragment from the fusion protein gene of 14 Serbian isolates was done. Serbian isolates showed 99.64–100% nucleotide (nt) and 98.94–100% amino acid (aa) identity. In comparison with the available BlLV sequences of the isolates from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Japan, South Korea and the USA, our isolates showed 99.29–100 nt and 97.87–100% aa similarity.

Hazelnut (Corylus avellana L.) is an economically very important fruit species cultivated in many countries. The world's largest producer and exporter of hazelnuts is Turkey. In Serbia, compared to other types of fruit, hazelnuts are grown on significantly smaller areas. In the last decade, hazelnut has become more interesting for the producers and there is a growing trend of increase of areas under this crop. Hazelnut is the host of numerous pathogens and pests that can cause significant economic damage in orchards. To date, there has been no comprehensive research on the causes of hazelnut diseases in Serbia, and the goal of our work was to determine the causes of some fungal diseases. In the period from 2017 to 2020, samples of hazelnut leaves and branches with symptoms of necrotic spotting were collected from a large number of plantations in Serbia. A large number of isolates were isolated from the collected samples for further determination. Based on the morphological and pathogenic properties of the isolates, the presence of phytopathogenic fungi from the genus Pestalotiopsis was determined.

Crvena Ranka? is one of the oldest autochthonous plum cultivars in Serbia. However, it is endangered due to the long-term pathogen pressure and continuous suppression by commercially important cultivars and therefore faced with genetic erosion. This study was carried out to investigate the suitability of two efficient and simple cryopreservation methods using aluminium cryo-plates for its conservation. Precultured shoot tips of this genotype were embedded in alginate gel into cryo-plates wells. Osmoprotection was performed using loading solution with 1.9 M glycerol and 0.5 M sucrose (30 min at room temperature). In the V cryo-plate protocol, explants were dehydrated at room temperature for 20 or 40 min with PVS A3 (37.5% glycerol, 15% dimethylsulfoxide, 15% ethylene glycol and 22.5% sucrose) or with PVS3 (50% glycerol and 50% sucrose) for 60 min. In the D cryo-plate protocol, desiccation for 2, 2.5 or 3 h was performed over silica gel. Then, the cryo-plates were directly immersed into liquid nitrogen. Unloading was done in MS medium containing 0.8 M sucrose (30 min at room temperature). In the V cryo-plate procedure regrowth of cryopreserved explants dehydrated with PVS A3 was between 50% and 51.9%, while in those dehydrated with PVS3 it was 66.7%. As for the D cryo-plate method, regrowth of cryopreserved explants ranged between 30-40%. After regrowth, shoots were successfully multiplied and rooted. Results prove the feasibility of these new cryogenic methods for a long-term storage of this valuable Prunus genotype.

Highbush blueberry (Vaccinium corymbosum L.) is becoming an important berry fruit in Serbian agriculture, and the areas under blueberries are rapidly expanding. Since 2011, blueberry bushes with the symptoms of twig dieback and shoot canker were noticed in four important producing regions in the country. To identify the causal agent, 40 symptomatic bushes from four districts were sampled and analyzed. Based on morphological characteristics, all analyzed isolates were preliminary identified as Neopestalotiopsis clavispora. Selected isolates were further characterized by sequence analysis of the rDNA internal transcribed spacer region, translation elongation factor 1-alpha, and β-tubulin (TUB). Sequence and phylogenetic analysis confirmed that all isolates belong to N. clavispora. The pathogenicity tests on blueberry ‘Elliot’ confirmed that tested isolates were pathogenic. The detection of N. clavispora, a causal agent of twig dieback on blueberries in Serbia, is the first report of this pathogen in the country.

Apples are the third most produced fruit in the world, behind bananas and oranges, in terms of volume. Over the past ten years, Serbia's apple production has nearly doubled. Apples are less subjected to viral and viroid attacks than other fruit species. Most viruses cause no visible symptoms on the plant's organs, and the trees either seem to be in good condition or, in the case of sensitive cultivars, their yield is reduced. Apple stem pitting virus (ASPV), apple stem grooving virus (ASGV), apple chlorotic leaf spot virus (ACLSV), and apple mosaic virus (ApMV) are four apple economically important and widely distributed viruses. Among the viroids, the apple scar skin viroid (ASSVd) is particularly destructive for apple production.

Samples of red raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.) from the most important growing areas in Serbia were analyzed for the presence of four most important raspberry viruses: raspberry leaf blotch virus (RLBV), raspberry leaf mottle virus (RLMV), black raspberry necrosis virus (BRNV) and Rubus yellow net virus (RYNV), and their incidence in individual and mixed infected samples. Seventy-four samples of eight raspberry cultivars, selected from 32 main cultivation sites were tested, of which 62 leaf samples showed symptoms that could be caused by viruses and 12 samples were asymptomatic. The presence of viruses was tested by appropriate RT-PCR and PCR methods, using virus-specific primers. All four viruses were detected with highly significant differences of incidence in a total of 61 infected symptomatic samples. Infection with one of the four tested viruses was detected in 59.0% of all infected samples. The most prevalent was RLBV, which was associated with raspberry leaf blotch disorder in coexistence with its vector raspberry leaf and bud mite P. gracillis, and it was detected in 70.5% of the infected samples. It was followed by RYNV with an incidence of 42.6%, BRNV with 36.1% and RLMV with 9.8% incidence, considering all infected samples. The obtained results for the first time in Serbia showed a high proportion (41.0%) of mixed infections involving between two and four viruses. The most common were infections with two viruses, 68.0% of all mixed-infected samples, and among them coinfections with RLBV and RYNV (44.0%). Viruses of the raspberry mosaic complex, BRNV, RYNV and RLMV, including coinfections of 2-3 listed viruses along with RLBV, were found in a high joined proportion of 14.7% of all infected samples, i.e. 36.0% of mixed infected samples.

In vitro strategies for the propagation and conservation of indigenous species contribute to the sustainable use of plant diversity and are essential for breeding programs as well. In this study, we established an efficient protocol for the micropropagation of autochthonous plum 'Crvena Ranka' and examined the survival and regrowth capacity of in vitro shoots after 3, 6 and 9 months of cold storage (CS) at +5 oC in total darkness. Aseptic culture was established on the Murashige and Skoog medium containing 2 mg l-1 BA, 0.5 mg l-1 IBA and 0.1 mg l-1 GA3 (leaf rosette initiation being 68.8%). During in vitro propagation on the medium of constant hormonal composition, a significant increase in the multiplication index was observed in the third subculture, whereupon it was mainly stable until the fifth subculture. The effect of BA concentration and/or type of auxins (IBA or NAA) on multiplication parameters, as well as on fresh and dry weights of shoots was evaluated. BA at 1 mg l-1 in combination with NAA significantly increased shoot multiplication parameters. The effect of auxins on rooting parameters was monitored as well. Shoots cultured on the medium supplemented with NAA also displayed higher rooting ability (60%), in comparison with those grown on the medium containing IBA at the same concentration (20%). In vitro shoots can be conserved over the medium term under CS conditions up to six months. High survival was achieved after three (94%) and six months (82.5%), while severe signs of necrosis (100%) were noticed after nine months of conservation. Shoots subcultured under standard growth conditions after CS promptly regained their morphology although their capacity for multiplication and rooting was slightly lower than that of non-cold-stored shoots.

In autumn 2018, daffodil (narcissus) plants with basal bulb rot were noticed in a plantation in locality Jasika, Serbia. Morphological characterization identified Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. narcissi as the causal agent of bulb rot in daffodil. Three selected isolates were tested for their ability to produce symptoms on daffodil bulbs. Two weeks after artificial inoculation typical symptoms of basal rot developed on inoculated bulbs from which the pathogen was re-isolated fulfilling Koch’s postulates. To further identify the pathogen, a molecular characterization with sequence and phylogenetic analysis of ITS and TEF1 genomic regions was performed. Molecular characterization confirmed the obtained results in morphological identification. The detection of Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. narcissi, a causal agent of basal rot on daffodil in Serbia, is the first report of this pathogen in the country.

Myrtus communis L., Myrtaceae, known as true myrtle, is a widely distributed evergreen shrub native to Mediterranean regions. This medicinal plant, used worldwide, possess a broad spectrum of phytochemical, pharmacological and therapeutic effects, mostly due to a large number of up to now detected, or isolated, essential oil components, considered the main biologically active ones. Multifarious secondary metabolite content, dependent on a geographic region, season of harvest and the length of distillation, depicts the variability of the essential oil composition obtained in general from its leaves, branches, fruits and flowers. Herein, we present the results of meticulous analyses of the essential oil (2.2%, w/w) constituents obtained from M. communis leaves, collected during the summer period from the coastal regions of peninsula Luštica, Montenegro. Detailed GC-MS analyses enabled the identification of 66 constituents, among which 1,8-cineole (28.4%), linalool (18.4%), α-pinene (16.6%), geranyl acetate (6.6%), α-terpineol (6.3%) and linalyl acetate (4.2%) were the major ones. Together with the secondary metabolite profile, determination of the Montenegro true myrtle essential oil agricultural plant protection potential is also estimated, by assessing mycelia growth of Colletotrichum acutatum J.H. Simmonds C.A.2 isolates, causative of strawberry antrachnose, in vitro.

This paper presents an overview of the current status of the Virtual Atomic and Molecular Data Centre (VAMDC) e-infrastructure, including the current status of the VAMDC-connected (or to be connected) databases, updates on the latest technological development within the infrastructure and a presentation of some application tools that make use of the VAMDC e-infrastructure. We analyse the past 10 years of VAMDC development and operation, and assess their impact both on the field of atomic and molecular (A&amp, M) physics itself and on heterogeneous data management in international cooperation. The highly sophisticated VAMDC infrastructure and the related databases developed over this long term make them a perfect resource of sustainable data for future applications in many fields of research. However, we also discuss the current limitations that prevent VAMDC from becoming the main publishing platform and the main source of A&amp, M data for user communities, and present possible solutions under investigation by the consortium. Several user application examples are presented, illustrating the benefits of VAMDC in current research applications, which often need the A&amp, M data from more than one database. Finally, we present our vision for the future of VAMDC.

In this study, the influence of Sharka disease, caused by Plum pox virus (PPV), on tree growth, yield attributes, financial losses, fruit physical properties, nutritive compounds, phenolic and flavonoid contents and antioxidant power was evaluated in a susceptible apricot (Prunus armeniaca L.) genotype. The results showed that Sharka significantly reduced tree growth, yield and economic results in PPV infected trees in comparison with PPV uninfected trees. The Sharka did not change fruit and stone weight and fruit shape, but significantly decreased flesh rate and flesh firmness. Soluble solids content (SSC) and titratable acidity (TA) were higher in symptomatic fruits, whereas ripening and sweetness index, sucrose and total sugars contents were smaller in fruits from PPV infected trees. Differences in content of invert sugars were not significant. Finally, PPV significantly reduced total phenolic (TPC) and total flavonoid contents (TFC) and total antioxidant capacity (TAC) in comparison with their contents in fruits from PPV uninfected trees.

During the two-year research, a comparative analysis of the contents of 24 major volatile compounds and sensory characteristics of the plum spirits produced by spontaneous alcoholic fermentation of the plum mashes with or without stones from cultivar Cacanska Rodna and its parent cultivars ? Stanley and Pozegaca were carried out. The plum spirits obtained from Cacanska Rodna cultivar contain lower amounts of methanol, 1-hexanol, ethyl acetate and acetaldehyde and higher amounts of 3-methyl-1-butanol and 2-phenylethanol than the spirits from its parent cultivars. Contents of 1-propanol, 1-butanol and hexanoic acid in the spirits obtained from Cacanska Rodna cultivar were lower than the contents in the spirits from Pozegaca and higher than those in the spirits obtained from Stanley. The sensory quality of plum spirits, in addition to the cultivar, has been significantly influenced by the presence of stones in the mash during processing of plums into spirits. In processing plums with stones, the best-graded plum spirit was from Pozegaca (17.88), whereas in processing without stones, the best was Cacanska Rodna spirit (17.78). The spirits obtained from Stanley cultivar had the lowest sensory grades regardless of the processing method.

The objective of the joint project between the two universities of Bonn and Sarajevo was to study the effects of climate change associated with warmer winter and spring temperatures on fruit tree phenology. Changes in flowering date of apple and cherry were correlated with local weather data obtained concomitantly on-site at four locations in the Balkan countries Slovenia, Serbia, B & H and at Bonn, Germany. Phenological data of flower opening (F1; BBCH 61) of apple cv. ‘Golden Delicious’ originated from 55 years at Cacak (44 °N, Serbia) and at Klein-Altendorf, University of Bonn (50 °N), cv. ‘Bobovec’ from the University of Ljubljana (46 °N, Slovenia) and cherry cv. ‘Burlat’ (35 years at Klein-Altendorf, 50 °N) and 20–30 years at Tuzla (44 °N, B & H) and Mostar (43 °N, Bosnia & Herzegovina; B & H). The annual precipitation showed a negligible change in the last 55 years of ±5% in the Balkan countries (e. g. Cacak, 699 mm), but only ±1.8% at Klein-Altendorf (605 mm) with a slight shift to more winter rainfall. Regression analysis showed an increase in mean temperature of 1.7 °C (annual) and 1.45 °C for the vegetation period at Klein-Altendorf (last 55 years), Germany. In the evaluated Balkan stations, the greatest increase in annual air temperature between two climate phases (until 1987 versus from 1988 until now) was at Ljubljana (1.4 °C) and Cacak (1.2 °C) in contrast to the least increase (0.3 °C) at Tuzla (annual average 10 °C) and an intermediate value (0.9 °C) in the warmer Mostar (annual average 14.5 °C). This recent temperature increase advanced flower opening by 10–14 days for apple such as cv. ‘Golden Delicious’ at Cacak and 7–10 days (last 55 years) at Bonn and 4–5 days (last 35 years) for the early cherry cv. ‘Burlat’ at Klein-Altendorf/Bonn; at Mostar and Tuzla, the effect of climate change was greater with the early cherry cv. ‘Burlat’ (26 days) compared with the difference of the late cherry cultivar (16 days). Before recent climate change (1973–1987), cherry flower was advanced by 10 days in the warmer med climate at Mostar but delayed by 16 days in the cooler Tuzla. The results, i. e. the flower advancement in the Continental climate but flower delay in the med climate, are discussed with respect to the risk of late frost and countermeasures to combat climate change effects.

Black raspberry necrosis virus (BRNV) is considered to be economically important virus infecting raspberries. In black raspberry (Rubus occidentalis L.) BRNV causes cane tip necrosis, but infected red raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.) cultivars in general do not express foliar symptoms.

Plum pox virus (PPV) is economically the most important virus of stone fruits. In sensitive plum (Prunus domestica L.) cultivars, PPV causes foliar symptoms, fruits deformation, changes in the chemical composition of fruits and premature fruit drop.

Event processing is an umbrella term for technologies and that are conceptually centered around ingestion, manipulation, and dissemination of events. An event could be any discrete occurrence within a defined domain which is interesting enough to mark down. In most scenarios, events are organized in streams which can arrive from various sources and have a heterogeneous structure. Event processing concepts and technologies are proven in industries that demand high throughput of data and quick decision making and can be tailored for astronomical data stream analytics. They enable real-time pattern application, suitable for Big Data systems where automatized reaction: is crucial. Upcoming big astronomical surveys such as LSST (2023) and ZTF (already in operation), along with various simulated data streams, can be analyzed by applying event processing mechanism such as filtering, aggregation, pattern matching, etc.

Large Synoptic Survey Telescope will make great contributions to many scientific fields. One of the modules will be time-domain astronomy and detection of transient events. In this paper, some considerations about transient events and alerts are presented.

We present simulator of alerts for the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) developed by Belgrade group. This simulator will be used in testing the functionality of external event brokers/Complex Event Processing (CEP) engines. It is based on current LSST Simulation framework and allows for different classes of objects to be ‘alerted’. A Web service based on our simulator is prototyped and can be accessed by developers of brokers/CEP engines.

Lithium abundances in our Galaxy and especially 6Li abundances provide important constraints on our understanding of Big Bang Nucleosynthesis (BBNS), stellar evolution and the creation of light elements by cosmic rays in the ISM. 6Li has been detected in energetic solar events, one chromospherically active binary and several dwarf halo stars. Continuing our work on active late-type stars with high lithium abundances, we expand our study to consider if the flare origin of lithium created by spallation can contribute significantly to the Galactic abundance of lithium. We previously derived 6 Li 7 Li = 0.030 ± 0.010 for active K dwarf GJ 117 using VLT UVES observations. We find 6 Li 7 Li ratios of 0.02 and 0.10 for two other stars in our sample, GJ 182 and EUVE J1145–55.3A, respectively. Considering that these later type, active stars have significant flare rates and stellar winds, we have estimated the contribution of these stars to the Galactic lithium abundance. Given that K and M stars comprise over 84% of our Galaxy and that many of these can have significant stellar winds, we conclude that spallation in stellar flares can contribute 1% and up to 5% of the Galactic lithium abundance.

During a survey from 2004 to 2016, symptoms of grapevine dieback were observed in six vineyards in Serbia. Symptoms initially appeared as small, chlorotic, and necrotic spots along the rim of the leaves, deformation of leafs, and the appearance of shortened shoots, often with the so-called zigzag internodes. Over time, partial or complete dying of the vines developed. Symptomatic samples were collected and submitted to laboratory analysis. Based on the morphological characterization, the isolated fungus was initially identified as belonging to Eutypa species. Pathogenicity tests showed that 47 selected isolates caused tissue necrosis around the site of inoculation, chlorosis, and deformation of the leaves, along with the appearance of tiny, necrotic spots on the periphery of the leaf that fall off over time. Inoculated cuttings were stunted, dwarf-like with zigzag internodes. Molecular identification was done with sequence and phylogenetic analysis of ITS, TUB, and RPB2 genomic regions. Based on the phylogenetic analysis, all isolated fungi were determined as Eutypa lata.

In this contribution we present a progress report on two atomic and molecular databases, BEAMDB and MolD, which are web services at the Serbian virtual observatory (SerVO) and nodes within the Virtual Atomic and Molecular Data Center (VAMDC). The Belgrade Electron/Atom (Molecule) DataBase (BEAMDB) provides collisional data for electron interactions with atoms and molecules. The Photodissociation (MolD) database contains photo-dissociation cross sections for individual rovibrational states of diatomic molecular ions and rate coefficients for the chemi-ionisation/recombination processes. We also present a progress report on the major upgrade of these databases and plans for the future. As an example of how the data from the BEAMDB may be used, a review of electron scattering from methane is described. © 2019 by the authors.

(Abridged) We describe here the most ambitious survey currently planned in the optical, the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST). A vast array of science will be enabled by a single wide-deep-fast sky survey, and LSST will have unique survey capability in the faint time domain. The LSST design is driven by four main science themes: probing dark energy and dark matter, taking an inventory of the Solar System, exploring the transient optical sky, and mapping the Milky Way. LSST will be a wide-field ground-based system sited at Cerro Pach\'{o}n in northern Chile. The telescope will have an 8.4 m (6.5 m effective) primary mirror, a 9.6 deg$^2$ field of view, and a 3.2 Gigapixel camera. The standard observing sequence will consist of pairs of 15-second exposures in a given field, with two such visits in each pointing in a given night. With these repeats, the LSST system is capable of imaging about 10,000 square degrees of sky in a single filter in three nights. The typical 5$\sigma$ point-source depth in a single visit in $r$ will be $\sim 24.5$ (AB). The project is in the construction phase and will begin regular survey operations by 2022. A total of 17 isolates of Colletotrichum from alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) and red clover (Trifolium pratense L.) plants with anthracnose symptoms were collected from 11 districts in Serbia during 2005-2010 and tested for variability in vegetative compatibility groups (VCGs) and restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLP). Nitrate nonutilising (nit) mutants were isolated from each of investigated C. destructivum isolates by selecting chlorate-resistant sectors on medium with chlorate. The isolates were grouped in five VCGs while one isolate was self-incompatible. No relationship was found between VCGs and geographical origin of the isolates. Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism (RFLP) analysis of a 900 bp intron of the glutamine synthetase (GS) gene revealed a unique polymorphic profile of C. destructivum isolates, distinct from the profiles of other Colletotrichum species. An identical profile was produced for all C. destructivum isolates, regardless of their host and geographical origin. PCR-RFLP failed to detect some the Serbian C. destructivum isolates. We present a progress report on the development of the Belgrade electron/molecule data base which is hosted by The Institute of Physics, University of Belgrade and The Astronomical Observatory Belgrade. The data base has been developed under the standards of Virtual Atomic Molecular Data Centre (VAMDC) project which provides a common portal for several European data bases that maintain atomic and molecular data. The Belgrade data base (BEAMDB) covers collisional data of electron interactions with atoms and molecules in the form of differential (DCS) and integrated cross sections as well as energy loss spectra. The final goal of BEAMDB becoming both a node within the VAMDC consortium and within the radiation damage RADAM data base has been achieved.

In this contribution we report the current stage of the MOLecular Dissociation (MOL-D) database which is a web service within the Serbian virtual observatory (SerVO) and node within Virtual Atomic and Molecular Data Center (VAMDC). MOL-D is an atomic and molecular (A&M) database devoted to the modelling of stellar atmospheres, laboratory plasmas, industrial plasmas etc. The initial stage of development was done at the end of 2014, when the service for data connected with hydrogen and helium molecular ions was done. In the next stage of the development of MOL-D, we include new cross-sections and rate coefficients for processes which involve species such as XH+, where X is atom of some metal. Data are important for the exploring of the interstellar medium as well as for the early Universe chemistry and for the modeling of stellar and solar atmospheres. In this poster, we present our ongoing work and plans for the future.

We present two atomic and molecular (A&M) databases, MolD and BEAMDB, hosted by the SerVO – the Serbian virtual observatory ( http://servo.aob.rs ). These databases and web applications have been implemented in accordance to the standards developed by Virtual Atomic and Molecular Data Centre (VAMDC, http://www.vamdc.eu ). The MolD database contains photo-dissociation cross-sections for individual rovibrational states of the diatomic molecular ions and rate coefficients for the atom-Rydberg atom chemi-ionisation and inverse electron-ion-atom chemi-recombination processes. The Belgrade electron/atom(molecule) database (BEAMDB) provides collisional data for electron interactions with atoms and molecules. Differential cross sections (DCS) are presented for both elastic and inelastic (excitation) cross sections in tabulated data tables. These DCS data are integrated over a full range of scattering angles in order to achieve integral, momentum transfer and viscosity cross sections as functions of impact electron energy. Beside these tables, energy loss spectra are presented in the graphical form.

Peach latent mosaic viroid (PLMVd) is the causal agent of peach latent mosaic disease that is common on peaches and nectarines worldwide. Most of the isolates do not cause any symptoms on the foliage and the disease may be latent for years. A survey to investigate the presence of PLMVd in selected peach mother blocks in 9 Serbian districts was carried out in 2011 through 2013. A total of 315 trees/samples originating from 43 mother blocks, representing 35 peach and nectarine varieties and 2 rootstocks, were tested by Reverse Transcription - Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR). PLMVd was detected in 13 samples (4.13%) belonging to 7 varieties and one vineyard peach rootstock. Infected samples were found in 7 mother blocks from 3 districts. Our results indicated a low incidence of PLMVd in the analyzed peach mother blocks.

Autochthonous genotypes of fruit species are very important source of genetic variability and valuable material for breeding work. Fruit Research Institute-Cacak has a long tradition of studying autochthonous genotypes of temperate fruits sporadically spread and preserved in some localities in Serbia. Over 2005-2006, the following properties of nine autochthonous sour cherry genotypes grown in Feketic region were investigated: flowering and ripening time, pomological properties, biochemical composition of fruits and field resistance to causal agents of cherry diseases - cherry leaf spot (Blumeriella jaapii (Rehm.) v. Arx.), shot-hole (Clasterosporium carpophilum (Lev.) Aderh.) and brown rot (Monilinia laxa /Ader et Ruhl./ Honey ex Whetz.). The genotypes were tested for the presence of Prune dwarf virus and Prunus necrotic ring spot virus. In majority of genotypes fruits were large, with exceptional organoleptical properties, whereas ripening time was in the first ten or twenty days of June. The highest fruit weight was observed in F-1 genotype (8.1 g). The highest soluble solids and total sugars content were found in F- 4 genotype (17.60% and 14.25%, respectively). As for field resistance to causal agents of diseases and good pomo-technological properties, F-1, F-2, F-3, F-7 and F-8 genotypes were singled out. [Projekat Ministarstva nauke Republike Srbije, br. Two genomic fragments spanning the (Cter)P3-6K1-(Nter)CI coding region as well as the full coat protein coding region were sequenced directly from PCR products. Phylogenetic analysis showed that the geographical origin of the collected isolates was clearly associated with two different PPV-M clades. Moreover, the pattern of substitutions in the CP gene shed light on the evolutionary relationships between PPV-M and the recombinant strains PPV-Rec and PPV-T.

During a field survey in 2005 in vineyards and grapevine nurseries at localities in central Serbia, a few plants with unusual virus-like symptoms were observed. Leaf samples were analyzed by DAS-ELISA for the presence of nine viruses. Besides other viruses frequently occurring on grapevine, Raspberry bushy dwarf virus (RBDV) was detected in two samples. Results were confirmed by nested-PCR and sequence analysis of the fragment in 5? part of RNA-1. Obtained sequence shared at least 93% of nucleotide identity with the compared RBDV sequence originating from raspberry. The finding of Raspberry bushy dwarf virus on grapevine in Serbia is a second finding of this pathogen on grapevine worldwide. The first natural infection of grapevine with this virus was reported in Slovenia in 2003.

Detection of 6^Li has been shown for energetic solar events, one chromospherically active binary, and several dwarf halo stars. We had previously found a 6^Li/7^Li = 0.03+/-0.01 for active K dwarf GJ 117 using VLT UVES observations. Here we present high signal-to-noise (>1000) high spectral resolution observations taken with the McDonald Observatory's 2.7m and echelle spectrometer of GJ 117. We have used the solar spectrum and template stars to eliminate possible blends, such as Ti I, in the 6^Li spectral region. Our new analysis, using an updated PHOENIX model atmosphere finds 6^Li/7^Li = 0.05+/-0.02. Additionally, bisector analysis showed no significant red asymmetries that would affect the lithium line profile. No changes above the statistical uncertainties are found between the VLT and McDonald data. The amount of 6^Li derived for GJ 117 is consistent with creation in spallation reactions on the stellar surface, but we caution that uncertainties in the continuum level may cause additional uncertainty in the 6^Li fraction., 18 pages, 7 figures and 3 tables; accepted for publication in ApJ
