Objective: To observe the treatment of severe preeclampsia in newborns with enoxaparin sodium combined with magnesium sulfate. Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 80 patients with severe preeclampsia admitted to Hefei Second People's Hospital, China from January 2019 to December 2020. Treatment records showed that 40 cases received magnesium sulfate treatment (single group), and 40 cases received enoxaparin sodium combined with magnesium sulfate treatment (combination group). Levels of D-dimer, soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase 1 (sFlt-1), placental growth factor (PLGF), Apgar scores of newborns delivered before and after treatment were compared. Gestation weeks and incidence of adverse reactions were analyzed. Results: After treatment, levels of D-dimer, sfit-1 and adverse reactions in the combination group were significantly lower than those in the single group (P<0.05), and the level of PLGF, newborn Apgar score and length of gestation were significantly higher than those in the single group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Compared to magnesium sulfate alone, the combination of enoxaparin sodium and magnesium sulfate in the treatment of pregnant women with severe preeclampsia can more effectively regulate the cytokine level of patients, improve pregnancy outcome, and improve neonatal Apgar score. In this study, numerical simulations of spatially developing incompressible turbulent boundary layers (SDTBLs) with adverse pressure gradient (APG) over two-dimensional smooth curved ramps have been performed by solving the Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS) equations. First, it has been verified that the RANS results converge with respect to domain and grid size, and the effects of different inflow conditions have been assessed. Then, the RANS results have been validated by comparing them with the experiments of Song and Eaton (Experiments in Fluids, Vol. 36, No. 2, 2004, pp. 246-258) for the separated turbulent flow over an arc at a reference Reynolds number based on the momentum thickness of Reθ=1100. Furthermore, the effects of the ramp's slope and curvature on the skin-friction and pressure coefficients for polynomial and half-Gaussian ramps at 964≤Reθ≤3626 have been investigated. From this investigation, a numerical criterion has been discovered for the inception of flow separation in SDTBL over smooth curved ramps. The criterion relies only on the geometrical parameters of normalized maximum slope magnitude, |z^′|max=|z′|max/h˜, and height-to-length ratio of the ramp, h˜=h/L, and on the Reynolds number of the flow based on the ramp length, ReL. Specifically, incipient separation (Cfmin=0) occurs when the magnitude of the normalized maximum slope, |z^′|max, reaches a critical value specified as |z^′|crit=αh˜ReγL+β, where α<0, β>0, and γ<0 are constants. Airborne particulate pollution is a critical environmental problem affecting human health and sustainable development. Understanding of the sources of aerosol particles is of extreme importance for regional air pollution control. Here we show that natural Si isotopic signature can be used as a new tool to elucidate the sources of fine particulate matter (PM2.5). Through the analysis of Si isotopic composition (δ30Si) of PM2.5 and its primary sources collected in a typical pollution region – Beijing, we recognized the direct source tracing ability of Si isotopes for PM2.5. The different primary sources of PM2.5 had different Si isotopic signatures. The δ30Si value of PM2.5 ranged from −1.99‰ to −0.01‰ and showed a distinct seasonal trend (isotopically lighter in spring/winter and heavier in summer/autumn). The variations in δ30Si of PM2.5 revealed that Si-isotopically light sources were important sources for Beijing's severe haze pollution and that coal burning was a major cause for the aggregating haze weather in spring/winter in Beijing. We also analyzed several typical haze events by using Si isotopic signatures. As the first study on the natural Si isotopes in the atmospheric environment, this study may reveal an important tool to advance the particulate pollution research and control. The wide use of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) leads to the increasing release of AgNPs into the environment. Dissolved organic matter (DOM) is a key factor affecting the behaviors and fate of AgNPs in the aquatic environment. However, the mechanisms for the DOM-mediated transformations of AgNPs are still not fully understood. In this study, we investigated the persistence of AgNPs in the aquatic environment in the presence of different concentrations of humic acid (HA) over periods of time up to 14 days. The Ag species were monitored and characterized by absorption spectrometry, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), and multicollector ICP-MS (MC-ICP-MS). Results showed that the long-term persistence of AgNPs in HA-containing water was determined by two critical concentrations of HA. When the HA concentration exceeded a lower critical value, AgNPs could be persistent in the solution, and a large number of AgNPs were formed secondarily from the HA-induced reduction of the Ag+ ions released from the primary AgNPs, causing a redistribution of the particle size. With the HA concentration above a higher critical value, AgNPs could persist in the solution without a significant change in particle size. Notably, we used Ag isotope fractionation to investigate the transformation mechanism of AgNPs. The natural isotopic analysis by MC-ICP-MS revealed that the size redistribution of AgNPs caused significant Ag isotope fractionation, which gave additional evidence for the proposed mechanisms. This paper presents a method for retargeting a pair of stereoscopic images. Previous works have leveraged seam carving and image warping methods for two-dimensional image editing to address this issue. However, they did not consider the full advantages of the properties of stereoscopic images. Our approach offers substantial performance improvements over the state-of-the-art; the key insights driving the approach are that the input image pair can be decomposed into different depth layers according to the disparity and image segmentation, and the depth cues allow us to address the problem in a three-dimensional (3-D) space domain for best preserving objects. We propose depth carving that extends seam carving in a single image to resize the stereo image pair with disparity consistency. Our method minimizes the shape distortion and preserves object boundaries by creating new occlusions. As a result, the retargeted image pair preserves the stereoscopic quality and protects the original 3-D scene structure. One of the major experimental achievements in the past decades is the ability to control quantum systems to high levels of precision. To quantify the level of control we need to characterize the dynamical evolution. Full characterization via quantum process tomography is impractical and often unnecessary. For most practical purposes, it is enough to estimate more general quantities such as the average fidelity. Here we use a unitary 2-design and twirling protocol for efficiently estimating the average fidelity of Clifford gates, to certify a 7-qubit entangling gate in a nuclear magnetic resonance quantum processor. Compared with more than 108 experiments required by full process tomography, we conducted 1656 experiments to satisfy a statistical confidence level of 99%. The average fidelity of this Clifford gate in experiment is 55.1%, and rises to at least 87.5% if the signal's decay due to decoherence is taken into account. The entire protocol of certifying Clifford gates is efficient and scalable, and can easily be extended to any general quantum information processor with minor modifications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

A novel method to estimate the object velocity for random stepped frequency radar by the waveform design is proposed. The method utilises a so-called 'complementary random code' to modulate the transmitted waveform. Theoretical analyses show that the proposed method achieves a high precision in velocity estimation, which could meet the requirements of motion compensation. Moreover, its computational complexity can be significantly reduced, compared with the classical estimation methods. Finally, the simulations validate the effectiveness of the present method. Quantum state tomography via local measurements is an efficient tool for characterizing quantum states. However, it requires that the original global state be uniquely determined (UD) by its local reduced density matrices (RDMs). In this work, we demonstrate for the first time a class of states that are UD by their RDMs under the assumption that the global state is pure, but fail to be UD in the absence of that assumption. This discovery allows us to classify quantum states according to their UD properties, with the requirement that each class be treated distinctly in the practice of simplifying quantum state tomography. Additionally, we experimentally test the feasibility and stability of performing quantum state tomography via the measurement of local RDMs for each class. Entanglement, one of the central mysteries of quantum mechanics, plays an essential role in numerous tasks of quantum information science. A natural question of both theoretical and experimental importance is whether universal entanglement detection can be accomplished without full state tomography. In this Letter, we prove a no-go theorem that rules out this possibility for nonadaptive schemes that employ single-copy measurements only. We also examine a previously implemented experiment [H. Park et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 105, 230404 (2010)], which claimed to detect entanglement of two-qubit states via adaptive single-copy measurements without full state tomography. In contrast, our simulation and experiment both support the opposite conclusion that the protocol, indeed, leads to full state tomography, which supplements our no-go theorem. These results reveal a fundamental limit of single-copy measurements in entanglement detection and provide a general framework of the detection of other interesting properties of quantum states, such as the positivity of partial transpose and the k-symmetric extendibility. Quantum algorithms could be much faster than classical ones in solving the factoring problem. Adiabatic quantum computation for this is an alternative approach other than Shor's algorithm. Here we report an improved adiabatic factoring algorithm and its experimental realization to factor the number 143 on a liquid-crystal NMR quantum processor with dipole-dipole couplings. The Leggett–Garg (LG) test of macroscopic realism involves a series of dichotomic non-invasive measurements that are used to calculate a function which has a fixed upper bound for a macrorealistic system and a larger upper bound for a quantum system. The quantum upper bound depends on both the details of the measurement and the dimension of the system. Here we present an LG experiment on a three-level quantum system, which produces a larger theoretical quantum upper bound than that of a two-level quantum system. The experiment is carried out in nuclear magnetic resonance and consists of the LG test as well as a test of the ideal assumptions associated with the experiment, such as measurement non-invasiveness. The non-invasive measurements are performed via the modified ideal negative result measurement scheme on a three-level system. Once these assumptions are tested, the violation becomes small, despite the fact that the LG value itself is large. Our results showcase the advantages of using the modified measurement scheme that can reach higher LG values, since these leave a larger margin for violating the inequality in the face of experimental imperfections. Anyons, quasiparticles living in two-dimensional spaces with exotic exchange statistics, can serve as the fundamental units for fault-tolerant quantum computation. However, experimentally demonstrating anyonic statistics is a challenge due to the technical limitations of current experimental platforms. Here, we take a state perpetration approach to mimic anyons in the toric code using a seven-qubit nuclear magnetic resonance quantum simulator. Anyons are created by dynamically preparing the ground and excited states of a seven-qubit planar version of the toric code, and are subsequently braided along two distinct, but topologically equivalent paths. We observe that the phase acquired by the anyons is independent of the path, and coincides with the ideal theoretical predictions when decoherence and implementation errors are taken into account. As the first demonstration of the topological path independence of anyons, our experiment helps to study and exploit the anyonic properties towards the goal of building a topological quantum computer. In stepped-frequency (SF) radar systems, the high-order phase error due to target motion in each burst can blur the range profile seriously. The methods based on motion parameter estimation perform well in most cases. However, the motion parameter estimation is time consuming, which challenges the real-time imaging of a radar target. To solve this problem, a new easy-to-implement variant of SF signal format is proposed in this paper. By employing the new signal, the high-order phase error can be simply eliminated, and the motion parameter estimation is unnecessary, which makes the imaging efficient. Certain n-qubit quantum systems can be faithfully simulated by quantum circuits with only O(log(n)) qubits [B. Kraus, Phys. Rev. Lett. 107, 250503 (2011)]. Here we report an experimental realization of this compressed quantum simulation on a one-dimensional Ising chain. By utilizing an nuclear magnetic resonance quantum simulator with only five qubits, the property of ground-state magnetization of an open-boundary 32-spin Ising model is experimentally simulated, prefacing the expected quantum phase transition in the thermodynamic limit. This experimental protocol can be straightforwardly extended to systems with hundreds of spins by compressing them into up to merely 10-qubit systems. Principal component analysis (PCA) is a widely applied but rather time-consuming tool in machine learning techniques. In 2014, Lloyd, Mohseni, and Rebentrost proposed a quantum PCA (qPCA) algorithm [Lloyd, Mohseni, and Rebentrost, Nat. Phys. 10, 631 (2014)] that still lacks experimental demonstration due to the experimental challenges in preparing multiple quantum state copies and implementing quantum phase estimations. Here, we propose a new qPCA algorithm using the hybrid classical-quantum control, where parameterized quantum circuits are optimized with simple measurement observables, which significantly reduces the experimental complexity. As one important PCA application, we implement a human face recognition process using the images from the Yale Face Dataset. By training our quantum processor, the eigenface information in the training dataset is encoded into the parameterized quantum circuit, and the quantum processor learns to recognize new face images from the test dataset with high fidelities. The detection of topological phases of matter has become a central issue in recent years. Conventionally, the realization of a specific topological phase in condensed matter physics relies on probing the underlying surface band dispersion or quantum transport signature of a real material, which may be imperfect or even absent. On the other hand, quantum simulation offers an alternative approach to directly measure the topological invariant on a universal quantum computer. However, experimentally demonstrating high-dimensional topological phases remains a challenge due to the technical limitations of current experimental platforms. Here, we investigate the three-dimensional topological insulators in the AIII (chiral unitary) symmetry class, which yet lack experimental realization. Using the nuclear magnetic resonance system, we experimentally demonstrate their topological properties, where a dynamical quenching approach is adopted and the dynamical bulk-boundary correspondence in the momentum space is observed. As a result, the topological invariants are measured with high precision on the band-inversion surface, exhibiting robustness to the decoherence effect. Our Letter paves the way toward the quantum simulation of topological phases of matter in higher dimensions and more complex systems through controllable quantum phases transitions. The out-of-time-ordered correlators (OTOC), a fundamental concept for quantifying quantum information scrambling, has recently been suggested to be an order parameter to dynamically detect both equilibrium quantum phase transitions (EQPTs) and dynamical quantum phase transitions (DQPTs). Here we report the first experimental observation of EQPTs and DQPTs in a quantum spin chain via quench dynamics of OTOC on a nuclear magnetic resonance quantum simulator. We observe that the quench dynamics of the OTOC can unambiguously detect the DQPTs and the equilibrium critical point, while conventional order parameters such as the longitudinal magnetization can not. Moreover, we investigate the two-body correlations throughout the quench dynamics, and find that OTOC can extract the equilibrium critical point with higher accuracy and is more robust to decoherence than that of two-body correlation. Our experiment paves a way for experimentally investigating DQPTs through OTOCs and for studying the EQPTs through the nonequilibrium quantum quench dynamics with quantum simulators. Quantum pseudorandomness, also known as unitary designs, comprises a powerful resource for emergent quantum technologies. Although in theory pseudorandom unitary operators can be constructed efficiently, realizing these objects in realistic physical systems is a challenging task. Here, we demonstrate experimental generation and detection of quantum pseudorandomness on a 12-qubit nuclear magnetic resonance system. We first apply random sequences to the interacting nuclear spins, leading to random quantum evolutions that can quickly form unitary designs. Then, in order to probe the growth of quantum pseudorandomness during the time evolutions, we propose the idea of using the system's multiple-quantum coherence distribution as an indicator. Based on this indicator, we measure the spreading of quantum coherences and find that substantial quantum pseudorandomness has been achieved at the 12-qubit scale. Topological orders can be used as media for topological quantum computing--a promising quantum computation model due to its invulnerability against local errors. Conversely, a quantum simulator, often regarded as a quantum computing device for special purposes, also offers a way of characterizing topological orders. Here, we show how to identify distinct topological orders via measuring their modular S and T matrices. In particular, we employ a nuclear magnetic resonance quantum simulator to study the properties of three topologically ordered matter phases described by the string-net model with two string types, including the Z2 toric code, doubled semion, and doubled Fibonacci. The third one, non-Abelian Fibonacci order is notably expected to be the simplest candidate for universal topological quantum computing. Our experiment serves as the basic module, built on which one can simulate braiding of non-Abelian anyons and ultimately, topological quantum computation via the braiding, and thus provides a new approach of investigating topological orders using quantum computers. To exploit a given physical system for quantum information processing, it is critical to understand the different types of noise affecting quantum control. Distinguishing coherent and incoherent errors is extremely useful as they can be reduced in different ways. Coherent errors are generally easier to reduce at the hardware level, e.g., by improving calibration, whereas some sources of incoherent errors, e.g., T2 processes, can be reduced by engineering robust pulses. In this work, we illustrate how purity benchmarking and randomized benchmarking can be used together to distinguish between coherent and incoherent errors and to quantify the reduction in both of them due to using optimal control pulses and accounting for the transfer function in an electron spin resonance system. We also prove that purity benchmarking provides bounds on the optimal fidelity and diamond norm that can be achieved by correcting the coherent errors through improving calibration.
