Trichoderma spp. were known to have antagonistic activity against against many soil borne diseases. In this experiment we have prepared five different formulations of Trichoderma asperellum and stored them in normal temperature. Later the efficacy of all the formulations were checked against sheath blight disease of rice both in-vitro and in-vivo. Among formulations the F5 [Trichoderma grown in potato dextrose broth (500ml) + Talc(500g)] treated plants showed very good result in managing sheath blight of rice by enhancing the plant height, total number of filled grains and root length. All the formulations performed significantly better than untreated control plants. The F5 treated plants were also recorded to have less disease incidence with increased yield as compared to other formulations.

Background:The B.1.1.529 (omicron) variant of SARS-CoV-2 was rst identied in the month of December 2021, in India and was designated as 'Variant of Concern'. Methodology: This is a cross-sectional study, conducted in tertiary care hospital of Ahmedabad, for a duration of one month (01/01/2022 to 31/01/2022). All the patients admitted during that period were considered in the study. Result: Total 427 patients were admitted. Around 40% of patients were in the age group >60 years, and 58% were admitted from triage. Common presenting symptoms were breathlessness and cough. Comorbid patients have longer duration of stay which was found statistically signicant. Conclusion: The study concludes that the patients with any comorbidity and those admitted from triage have longer hospital stay. Also, patients having any comorbidity have a higher odd of admission by triage.

Nitric oxide (NO) is a free-radical gasotransmitter signaling molecule associated with a varied spectrum of signal transduction pathways linked to inducing cross-adaptation against abiotic stresses. It has crucial roles from seed germination to plant maturity, depending upon its cellular concentration. The functional cross-talk of NO among different stress signaling cascades leads to alteration in the expression of developmental genes that regulate biosynthesis and function of plant growth regulators (PGRs). NO-PGRs and secondary signaling compounds cross-talk trigger reprogramming of stress-responsive gene expressions, transcriptional gene modulations, redox regulating machinery, oxidative metabolisms, and multiple regulatory pathways under plant abiotic stress. Recent findings suggest NO as critical components of numerous plant signaling network that interplays with auxin, gibberellins (GA), abscisic acid (ABA), ethylene (ET), jasmonic acid (JA), brassinosteroids (BRs), H2O2, melatonin, hydrogen sulfide (H2S), salicylic acid (SA), and other PGRs to modulate growth and development under multiple stresses. Considering the importance of NO signaling crosstalk under stress adaptation, in this review, we point out the biosynthesis and metabolism of NO and its crosstalk with numerous other signaling compounds. Further, recent cellular and molecular advances in NO signaling cross-talk under abiotic stress adaptations also have been discussed.

Iron toxicity that seriously affect rice yield is a critical concern for the crop improvement programs in rice. Morphological analysis of germplasm is essential for the success of varietal crop improvement programs. The objective of this investigation is to estimate the phenotypic diversification of one hundred and fifty germplasm to identify the tolerant genotypes under iron toxic situation for exploitation of inherited variability from the accessible germplasm. Experiment has been carried out under lowland field condition to determine the reaction of rice germplasm under hotspots for iron toxicity. Significant differences among the genotypes have been observed. A significant difference is present among all the traits like days to 50% flowering, Plant height, panicle length, grain/panicle, grain weight, yield, leaf bronzing index (LBI) and tillers number. The phylogenetic analysis was also carried out to find out a core population for further study like association mapping with trait of interest. The genotypes like Mahsuri, Kusuma, Ganjamgedi, Pratikhya, Swarna, Dhusura have been found to be tolerant genotypes under iron toxic condition.

Seed priming technique has a marvelous potential in enhancing seed germination and crop establishment under limited soil moisture conditions, which ultimately increases yield. Therefore, we investigated the effects of seed priming on physiology, growth, yield and antioxidant defense system of pearl millet (Pennisetum glaucum L.) under rain-fed condition. The experiments were conducted under laboratory as well as field conditions comprising three treatments i.e., non-primed seeds (control, T0), priming with tap water (hydropriming) (T1) and priming with 2% KNO3 2% for 6 hours at 25°C followed by shade drying (T2). The results showed that chlorophyll content (10.37–14.15%) and relative water content (RWC) (12.70–13.01%) increased whereas proline (-19.44 to -25%) and soluble sugar (-15.51 to -29.13%) contents decreased on account of seed priming in pearl millet under field conditions. The seed priming significantly improved the plant height, final plant stand and grain weight which resulted in increased yield. Enhanced activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) (5.89 to 8.10 unit/g/seed/min), catalase (CAT) (22.54 to 39.67 µmol/min/g/seed) and ascorbate peroxidase (APX) (8.92 to 22.10 µmol/cm/min/g) and concomitant decrease in H2O2 and malondialdehyde (MDA) content suggests their role in imparting oxidative tolerance at initial stages of growth in primed seed. The lab studies suggest that the improved yield might be attributes to increased seed germination and seedling vigor. It is recommended that the hydropriming (tap water) or KNO3 (2%) priming of seeds for 6 hours under ambient conditions is effective to enhance growth and yield of pearl millet under rainfed conditions.

This research work has focused on a digital forensic analysis of social media through mobile devices to determine the primary criminal. This proposed system considered the mobile device used by the prime suspect as the main evidence of cybercrime and tried to find out the degree of criminal involvement in terms of probability likelihood. At first, the most critical data elements were obtained, e.g., deleted files and keywords, through the forensic analysis of the mobile device. This will also help in the identification of the main culprits in the investigation of cybercrime. Next, the system classified the criminals in one of three zones based on the analysis of the keywords to determine the level of crime. The system also takes into account the most probable timeframe for the crime. Thus, the proposed system helps to identify the main culprits in investigating cybercrime more efficiently than the traditional approaches. The system is also looking into the most probable timeframe for the crime, for example, it has been observed that most cybercrime happens on the weekends. The proposed system investigates using cookies and the logical image of the device that cyber criminals left behind.

PIN-FORMED (PIN) genes play a crucial role in regulating polar auxin distribution in diverse developmental processes, including tropic responses, embryogenesis, tissue differentiation, and organogenesis. However, the role of PIN-mediated auxin transport in various plant species is poorly understood. Currently, no information is available about this gene family in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.). In the present investigation, we identified the PIN gene family in wheat to understand the evolution of PIN-mediated auxin transport and its role in various developmental processes and under different biotic and abiotic stress conditions. In this study, we performed genome-wide analysis of the PIN gene family in common wheat and identified 44 TaPIN genes through a homology search, further characterizing them to understand their structure, function, and distribution across various tissues. Phylogenetic analyses led to the classification of TaPIN genes into seven different groups, providing evidence of an evolutionary relationship with Arabidopsis thaliana and Oryza sativa. A gene exon/intron structure analysis showed a distinct evolutionary path and predicted the possible gene duplication events. Further, the physical and biochemical properties, conserved motifs, chromosomal, subcellular localization, transmembrane domains, and three-dimensional (3D) structure were also examined using various computational approaches. Cis-elements analysis of TaPIN genes showed that TaPIN promoters consist of phytohormone, plant growth and development, and stress-related cis-elements. In addition, expression profile analysis also revealed that the expression patterns of the TaPIN genes were different in different tissues and developmental stages. Several members of the TaPIN family were induced during biotic and abiotic stress. Moreover, the expression patterns of TaPIN genes were verified by qRT-PCR. The qRT-PCR results also show a similar expression with slight variation. Therefore, the outcome of this study provides basic genomic information on the expression of the TaPIN gene family and will pave the way for dissecting the precise role of TaPINs in plant developmental processes and different stress conditions.

A future challenge in crop improvement, mostly driven by global unfavorable environment variables, is to develop climate smart crops that are competent for multiple biotic and abiotic stresses. Researchers have addressed the elementary mechanism focused on aboveground plant organs, as extensive study on root traits are very confined. Moreover, most of our knowledge regarding root research is limited to certain developmental aspects, while a direct connectivity to developing environment sensitive roots under various stresses is extremely urgent to explore thoroughly. Therefore this chapter covers the most recent research on the root system architecture (RSA) of different crop species with regard to different extreme environmental variables such as high temperature, elevated CO2, low temperature, drought, excess water, and stressed soil. We highlight the recent physiological, genetic, and molecular strategies used in the rapid advancement of RSA traits under these stresses. There is an urgent need to explore RSA in order to improve crop stress tolerance, therefore we discuss and explore the link between RSA and stress tolerance. Further, this chapter will provide new insights into the relevance of the redesign and selection of improved RSA for the development of climate resilient plants. We conclude by discussing the functional and molecular evidence of RSA components such as deep root weight, root length density, root volume, root penetration, and other root traits for improving root plasticity in a fluctuating environment, which will help the researchers to select RSA pipelines for abiotic stress resilience and crop improvement programs.

Iron (Fe) toxicity is a major abiotic stress which severely reduces rice yield in many countries of the world. Genetic variation for this stress tolerance exists in rice germplasms. Mapping of gene(s)/QTL controlling the stress tolerance and transfer of the traits into high yielding rice varieties are essential for improvement against the stress. A panel population of 119 genotypes from 352 germplasm lines was constituted for detecting the candidate gene(s)/QTL through association mapping. STRUCTURE, GenAlEx and Darwin softwares were used to classify the population. The marker-trait association was detected by considering both the Generalized Linear Model (GLM) and Mixed Linear Model (MLM) analyses. Wide genetic variation was observed among the genotypes present in the panel population for the stress tolerance. Linkage disequilibrium was detected in the population for iron toxicity tolerance. The population was categorized into three genetic structure groups. Marker-trait association study considering both the Generalized Linear Model (GLM) and Mixed Linear Model (MLM) showed significant association of leaf browning index (LBI) with markers RM471, RM3, RM590 and RM243. Three novel QTL controlling Fe-toxicity tolerance were detected and designated asqFeTox4.3,qFeTox6.1andqFeTox10.1. A QTL reported earlier in the marker interval of C955-C885 on chromosome 1 is validated using this panel population. The present study showed that QTL controlling Fe-toxicity tolerance to be co-localized with the QTL for Fe-biofortification of rice grain indicating involvement of common pathway for Fe toxicity tolerance and Fe content in rice grain. Fe-toxicity tolerance QTLqFeTox6.1was co-localized with grain Fe-biofortification QTLsqFe6.1andqFe6.2on chromosome 6, whereasqFeTox10.1was co-localized withqFe10.1on chromosome 10. The Fe-toxicity tolerance QTL detected from this mapping study will be useful in marker-assisted breeding programs.
