Eight species belonging to five true bug families were analyzed using DAPI/CMA3-staining and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) with telomeric (TTAGG)n and 18S rDNA probes. Standard chromosomal complements are reported for the first time for Deraeocoris rutilus (Herrich-Schäffer, 1838) (2n=30+2m+XY) and D. ruber (Linnaeus, 1758) (2n=30+2m+XY) from the family Miridae. Using FISH, the location of a 18S rDNA cluster was detected in these species and in five more species: Megaloceroea recticornis (Geoffroy, 1785) (2n=30+XY) from the Miridae; Oxycarenus lavaterae (Fabricius, 1787) (2n=14+2m+XY) from the Lygaeidae s.l.; Pyrrhocoris apterus (Linnaeus, 1758) (2n=22+X) from the Pyrrhocoridae; Eurydema oleracea (Linnaeus, 1758) (2n=12+XY) and Graphosoma lineatum (Linnaeus, 1758) (2n=12+XY) from the Pentatomidae. The species were found to differ with respect to location of a 18S rRNA gene cluster which resides on autosomes in O. lavaterae and P. apterus, whereas it locates on sex chromosomes in other five species. The 18S rDNA location provides the first physical landmark of the genomes of the species studied. The insect consensus telomeric pentanucleotide (TTAGG)n was demonstrated to be absent in all the species studied in this respect, D. rutilus, M. recticornis, Cimex lectularius Linnaeus, 1758 (Cimicidae), E. oleracea, and G. lineatum, supporting the hypothesis that this motif was lost in early evolution of the Heteroptera and secondarily replaced with another motif (yet unknown) or the alternative telomerase-independent mechanisms of telomere maintenance. Dot-blot hybridization analysis of the genomic DNA from C. lectularius, Nabis sp. and O. lavaterae with (TTAGG)n and six other telomeric probes likewise provided a negative result.

Two species of Miridae, Pachylygus nigrescens (Kerzhner 1977) and Deraeocoris yasunagai Nakatani 1995, are reported for the first time from Korea. The brief information on them is presented with the photos of specimens.

SYNOPSIS The male, female and larvae of a new species of Deraeocoris from Ghana are described. Systematic, biological and population data are presented.

Deraeocoris annulipes (Herrich-Schaeffer, 1842) Euro-Siberian boreo-montane species. On larch trees (Larix), predator, feeds on aphids. Previously had not been reported for Xinjiang. as a distinct genus, was recently demoted to subgeneric rank within Deraeocoris Kirschbaum, 1855 by Kerzhner & Schuh (1995). However, their treatment remains questionable because polyphyly of the genus Deraeocoris was frequently suggested (e. g. Schuh 1995) and its subgeneric classification is therefore problematic. In the present paper, three East Asian species of Cimicicapsus are reported, and the taxonomic status of the genus is discussed. All measurements are given in millimeters. Material examined, including types, is deposited in the National Institute for Agro-Environmental Sciences, Tsukuba, Japan, except for several specimens, where the name of depository follows the specimen’s data.

Nine species of Cimicicapsus Poppius from China are recognized. Six new species: C. flavimaculus Xu & Liu, sp. n., C. pseudokoreanus Xu & Liu, sp. n., C. rubidus Xu & Liu, sp. n., C. splendus Xu & Liu, sp. n., C. squamus Xu & Liu, sp. n., and C. villosus Xu & Liu, sp. n., are described. A new combination, C. montanus (Hsiao, 1941) and a new synonymy, Deraeocoris luteolus Xu & Liu, 2005= C. parviceps Poppius, 1915, are reported. Photographs of the dorsal habitus and figures of the male genitalia are given. A key to the world species is provided. All type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Entomology, Nankai University, Tianjin, China.

Predator traps constructed of several layers of corrugated fiberboard effectively substituted for natural overwintering sites for predators in pear orchards. Deraeocoris brevis (Uhler), Hemerobius ovalis Carpenter, and spiders were the major predators taken from the traps. The traps also offer an inexpensive means of collecting and storing overwintering predators.
