El cáncer de mama es el crecimiento anormal y desordenado de células con capacidad de diseminación. Existen diferentes líneas de tratamiento, de entre las cuales, la cirugía (mastectomía parcial o completa) se considera por excelencia la opción terapéutica en combinación con otras terapias (quimioterapia, inmunoterapia y/o radioterapia) para el tratamiento de esta enfermedad. El presente estudio analiza la evidencia científica sobre los cuidados de enfermería tras la cirugía por mastectomía en mujeres sometidas a la resección mamaria y las posibles complicaciones asociadas a la cicatrización de la herida postquirúrgica. Para ello, se ha realizado una revisión bibliográfica en diferentes bases de datos, estudiando un total de 12 artículos tras la aplicación de los criterios de elegibilidad. Tras el análisis exhaustivo de los datos, se constata la importancia del papel de enfermería en la continuidad de cuidados para prevenir y disminuir las complicaciones postquirúrgicas, influyendo de forma directa sobre la calidad de vida de cada paciente. ABSTRACT Breast cancer is the abnormal and disorderly growth of cells with the ability to spread. There are different lines of treatment, among which surgery (partial or complete mastectomy) is considered the therapeutic option par excellence in combination with other therapies (chemotherapy, immunotherapy and/or radiotherapy) for the treatment of this disease. This study analyzes the scientific evidence on nursing care after mastectomy surgery in women undergoing breast resection and the possible complications associated with post-surgical wound healing. For this, a bibliographic review has been carried out in different databases, studying a total of 12 articles after applying the eligibility criteria. After the exhaustive analysis of the data, the importance of the role of nursing in the continuity of care to prevent and reduce post-surgical complications is confirmed, directly influencing the quality of life of each patient.

Objetivo: Analizar la correlación entre la sobrecarga de los cuidadores familiares de pacientes oncológicos en cuidados paliativos y las variables sexo, edad, problemas de salud y tiempo de cuidado. Método: estudio descriptivo correlacional con una muestra no probabilística de 147 cuidadores familiares, en la Clínica de Cuidados Paliativos Oncológicos, en 2021, en la ciudad de Belém do Pará - Brasil. Para recoger los datos se utilizó la Escala de Sobrecarga de Zarit, con análisis estadísticos descriptivos e inferenciales. Resultados: 86 (58,5%) de los cuidadores eran mujeres, 66 (44,9%) cuidadores se sentían "Muy sobrecargados", 104 (70,7%) tenían una sobrecarga de Moderada a Severa. No hubo coherencia a la hora de concluir que las variables sexo, grupo de edad, problemas de salud o tiempo de atención tuvieran una relación estadísticamente significativa (p>0,05). Conclusión: Se espera que los resultados contribuyan a aumentar el conocimiento sobre el tema, apoyar la práctica asistencial y la formulación de políticas públicas para satisfacer las necesidades de los cuidadores de familiares enfermos de cáncer.

To identify and analyze the occurrence of outpatient chemotherapy suspensions in the treatment of breast cancer. Qualitative, descriptive research, developed in an oncology hospital in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Nine nurses participated through a semi-structured interview using the focus group technique on August 23 and 30, 2021, submitted to thematic analysis. Data analysis focused on chemotherapy suspensions that occurred during the scheduled period and three themes emerged from the interviews: the patients' clinical conditions, social issues and administrative problems. The research promoted investigation and discussion about the impacts generated in the face of chemotherapy suspensions, allowing nurses to reflect on care and administrative strategies that bring resolution and quality in the care provided with a more humanized and less mechanistic look that meet the desires and expectations of patients. with clarification of doubts and guidance relevant to the treatment. To improve pediatric hematology and oncology outcomes, there is a recognized potential for partnerships between low- and high-resource institutions within health care systems. The SickKids Caribbean Initiative is a partnership between health care professionals at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada, and seven Caribbean institutions across six countries (Bahamas, Barbados, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago). The primary aim of the SickKids Caribbean Initiative has been to improve the outcomes and the quality of life of children in the Caribbean aged <18 years who have cancer and blood disorders. This article describes five key activities undertaken within the SickKids Caribbean Initiative, including providing education and training, assisting with case consultations and diagnostic services, developing local oncology databases, engaging in advocacy and ensuring stakeholder engagement, and coordinating administration and project management. Objective: to describe the therapeutic itinerary of children/adolescents with cancer and their families. Method: qualitative descriptive study carried out with 11 mothers and one grandmother of children/adolescents undergoing cancer treatment, guided by the theoretical framework of the Health Care Systems Model. Data were collected from March to September 2019, through semi-structured and audio-recorded interviews, submitted to Morse and Field content analysis. Results: for the family, the path taken throughout the process of searching for diagnosis and cure was characterized by suffering and ambiguous feelings. Throughout the therapeutic itinerary, each family established their way of acting, perceiving, communicating, relating and making decisions. Final considerations: knowing the therapeutic itinerary of families of children/adolescents with cancer can guide assertive nursing interventions and support the development of strategies that improve the early diagnosis of the disease, favoring a better prognosis. Introduction: Pediatric cancer causes a radical change in the external and internal environment of the child or adolescent affecting their development and growth. Objective: To synthesize the findings of nursing studies that published results in physical, psychological, social and immune health through the use of distraction strategies for care. Methodology: Integrative literature review, qualitative descriptive and retrospective based on parameters established by Whittemore and Knafl with five stages. Inclusion criteria: scientific articles with results in physical, psychological, social and immune health through the use of distraction from nursing to pediatric population with oncological diagnosis, published in 15 scientific databases, languages: English, Portuguese and Spanish, between the years 2011-2020, with level of evidence according to Lobiondo Level I, II and III, randomized studies, with independent and separate control group, based on critical evaluation of the Joanna Briggs Institute. Results: The distraction strategies used in children and adolescents with oncological diagnosis included: exercise, play, massage, music and complementary therapies performed in different scenarios that obtained significant results in physical, psychological, social and immune health. Conclusions: With the use of distraction in the hospital or non-hospital setting, health benefits are achieved, proving to be an innovative and important intervention for nursing care in the pediatric oncological population. Objetivo: Describir cómo viven y afrontan los profesionales de enfermería la experiencia de cuidar personas con cáncer. Materiales y métodos: cualitativo fenomenológico. El tamaño de la muestra se definió por la saturación teórica, conformada por seis profesionales de enfermería que laboraban en oncología. El instrumento fue la entrevista a profundidad. Se mantuvo la reflexibilidad, también la credibilidad a través de una segunda entrevista para corroborar los datos interpretados, notas de campo y relectura con investigadores asesores. Para el análisis de la información se utilizó el método de Taylor y Bogdan, se plasmaron en matrices de análisis y gráficos. Fue avalado por el Comité de Ética y se utilizó el consentimiento informado. Resultados: se develaron dos temas centrales, el primero fue titulado “Que tengo que vivir, que tengo que hacer, con quien debo compartir” mecanismos de afrontamiento desde el interior y el segundo “Hay otras formas para descargarnos” mecanismos de afrontamiento desde afuera. Adicionalmente se generaron los siguientes subtemas: transformar el concepto de muerte, tener características especiales, cambiar la forma de ver la vida, ser espiritual, la seguridad que ofrece el conocimiento científico, la seguridad que ofrece la experiencia laboral, el apoyo institucional para el bienestar del trabajador y la formación universitaria en el cuidado oncológico. Conclusiones: la experiencia de cuidar a pacientes con cáncer develó mecanismos de afrontamiento que le permiten al enfermero adaptarse y resolver diversas situaciones en su quehacer profesional en los servicios de oncología

Objetivo: Adaptar culturalmente al español y validar, en Colombia, el instrumento de comportamientos de automanejo para personas con cáncer. Método: Estudio transversal de validación de instrumento, en el que a partir de la versión original de la escala pih [Patterns in Health scale, Patrones en salud], que mide los comportamientos de automanejo, se desarrolló su versión adaptada culturalmente al español y se adelantó la evaluación de la validez de constructo a partir de la aplicación de la escala a 182 adultos con diagnóstico de cáncer, para lo que se acudió a análisis factorial exploratorio y confiabilidad, mediante consistencia interna con el alfa de Cronbach. Resultados: Se obtiene un instrumento adaptado culturalmente al español en Colombia, para su uso en personas con cáncer. El análisis factorial arrojó cuatro factores con vector propio: conocimiento, reconocimiento y manejo de síntomas, alianza personal de salud/médico-paciente y afrontamiento. La consistencia interna es aceptable, con una alfa de Cronbach de 0,728. Conclusiones: La escala pih adaptada al español evalúa integralmente los comportamientos de automanejo de una persona con cáncer, y demostró validez de constructo y consistencia interna para su uso en el contexto colombiano en adultos con cáncer.

El propósito del presente artículo es identificar los conocimientos sobre la Voluntad Anticipada (VA) en enfermeros que laboran en servicios de oncología. Para ello, se utilizó como metodología un estudio observacional con intención analítica que midió el nivel de conocimiento a través de un cuestionario autodiligenciado. En él participaron 50 enfermeros, seleccionados por muestreo no probabilístico. Así, se analizaron las variables cualitativas con distribuciones de frecuencia, y las cuantitativas con estadística descriptiva y análisis bivariado. El nivel de conocimiento se categorizó así: 0 a 10 puntos (nivel bajo), 11 a 20 puntos (nivel medio), 21 a 30 puntos (nivel alto). Los resultados de la investigación arrojaron como dato que, para un grupo donde el 86 % eran mujeres, con promedio de edad de 37 años, el promedio de años de experiencia como enfermeros fue de 11.5 años. Por otra parte, el promedio de años de experiencia en el área de oncología fue de 6.2 años. De los que hacían parte de este último promedio, el 48 % tenían diplomado en oncología y el 46 % especialización. El 70 % de los participantes tenía un conocimiento medio, el 26 % un conocimiento alto, y el 4 %un nivel bajo. Cabe mencionar que solo el nivel de formación de postgrado se relacionó de manera significativa con el nivel de conocimientos. Como conclusión, se encontró que los profesionales en enfermería poseen un nivel de conocimiento medio sobre la legislación que aborda las voluntades anticipadas en Colombia y esto está relacionado con el nivel de formación.

Background: Although international evidence demonstrates that health promotion improves the quality of life and optimizes several health behaviors of cancer survivors, educational programs for cancer survivors are scarce in Portugal. Objectives: To validate the content and structure of an educational nursing intervention to promote health behaviors in cancer survivors. Methodology: A modified e-Delphi study was conducted with three rounds of online questionnaires. Twenty-six of the 30 invited expert nurses participated in the study. Results: The experts reached a consensus to include 25 structure-related items and 110 content-related items. The experts considered that the intervention should include four to eight presential sessions, with the possible inclusion of a family member, or in a group, reinforced the idea of nurses' initial preparation, discussed participant inclusion criteria, and strengthened the use of standardized language to support the contents. Conclusion: The expert consensus adds robustness and consistency to this educational intervention and will promote the health of cancer survivors. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

RESUMEN El aumento de la incidencia y prevalencia de procesos cancerígenos en los ancianos representa un nuevo reto para las políticas sanitarias y sociales. El presente artículo reflexiona sobre la necesidad de un modelo de atención integral, integrada y multidimensional para el cuidado del anciano con cáncer y su familia. El objetivo principal es identificar, recopilar, analizar y sintetizar la literatura científica más actual y relevante sobre las funciones y/o rol de la enfermera en el cuidado del anciano con cáncer. Material y método: se realizó una revisión bibliográfica en PubMed (Medline), Cochrane Library Plus, Dialnet y ScienceDirect® (Elsevier), entre enero de 2007 y diciembre de 2017, de la literatura científica sobre las funciones y/o rol de la enfermera en el cuidado del anciano con cáncer. Los estudios fueron seleccionados por revisores pares de forma independiente utilizando el instrumento PRISMA. Resultados: Se identificaron 28 estudios que cumplieron los criterios de inclusión. Toda la bibliografía revisada recomienda el desarrollo e implementación de programas de atención individualizados como el pilar principal de atención al anciano con cáncer. En ellos, las enfermeras desempeñan un papel clave en la gestión y coordinación durante todo el proceso de atención. Conclusiones: El modelo de cuidado de los ancianos con cáncer debe abarcar todo el proceso de atención: prevención, detección precoz, evaluación, tratamiento, educación e investigación. Es esencial el rol de la enfermera como gestora, coordinadora, educadora y cuidadora en la atención al anciano con cáncer.

Objective: To report the experience of oncology navigating nurses in implementing organizational actions to maintain care during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Experience report, developed between March and July 2020, using Situational Strategic Planning. Results: At first, there was a decrease in the number of patients in the diagnostic services, changes in the routine of patients undergoing cancer treatment and an increased exposure to the virus. In the second step, the objectives for maintaining the service, minimizing doubts about the pandemic and establishing of security measures. In the third moment, the following actions were planned: maintenance of early diagnosis and therapeutic routines; identification of signs and symptoms related to COVID-19 and safety actions turned to reduction of virus exposure. In the fourth moment, the actions were carried out and we found as challenges to be overcome, the difficulty of telemonitoring and access to exams through digital platforms and; as an innovation, the organization of the drive-thru service for the application of medicines. Conclusion: Acting in oncological navigation in times of pandemic requires scientific knowledge, technical skill and creativity to develop actions that can guarantee the effectiveness and the quality of nursing care. Objective: To understand the meaning of comfort for adolescents with cancer undergoing chemotherapy. Methods: Descriptive, exploratory study with qualitative approach, developed with adolescents with cancer undergoing chemotherapy. Data collection was performed through a semi-structured interview and the data were analyzed through content analysis. Results: 10 male and female adolescents participated in the study, aged between 10 and 18 years, length of hospitalization ranging from one to 15 days, white ethnicity and infirmary hospitalization sector predominated in the sample of six adolescents. Content analysis revealed two categories: comfort in the daily life of adolescents with cancer undergoing chemotherapy; the impact on the comfort of adolescents with cancer undergoing chemotherapy. Conclusion: The adolescents presented meanings of comfort in a positive way to their daily life regarding satisfaction, well-being, support of health professionals and the physical structure of the institution; as discomforts related to the development of symptoms, functional alterations, time of hospitalization and removal from the support network of family and friends. Introduction: In Nursing, the recognition of emancipatory and sociopolitical patterns in practice is not evident. This identification allows the qualification of care in areas of great complexity such as oncology, which affects children and their families. Objective: To know the meaning of sociopolitical and emancipatory knowledge patterns in nursing professionals during the care of children with cancer and their families. Methodology: Qualitative ethnographic study in which semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten nurses with experiences between six months and seventeen years working with pediatric oncology population. And non-participant observations in two health institutions, one private and one public. The data were studied under the analysis procedure proposed by Michael Angrosino, which consists of the following phases: data management, general reading and classification of themes. Results: As a result of the analysis of the information, three major themes were established: context of care; nursing care; and expressions of sociopolitical and emancipatory patterns in care. In the discussion, the results were articulated with Imogene King's Systems theory. Conclusions: Based on the interaction of nurses with patients and their families, it was possible to identify that strategies such as education, follow-up, case management and administrative procedures are ways of strengthening shared governance and social equity, which are indices of credibility of sociopolitical and emancipatory patterns. Objective: to evaluate and correlate the quality of life domains of patients with liver metastasis of colorectal cancer undergoing chemotherapy. Method: cross-sectional, observational study with 106 patients selected in three hospitals in southern Brazil. Data were collected using the Quality of Life Questionnaire Core 30 and Quality of Life Questionnaire Colorectal Liver Metastases, analyzed descriptively and by Spearman’s correlation test. Results: sexual life (45.08%), emotional function (43.08%) and fatigue (40.15%) had the worst scores with the Quality of Life Questionnaire Colorectal Liver Metastases. All correlations between the domains are significant, demonstrating that a domain with a low score interferes in all others. Conclusion: patients with liver metastasis from colorectal cancer undergoing chemotherapy showed changes in quality of life domains. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Identify and analyze patients health needs related to chemotherapy in the ambulatory of Hospital do Câncer I, of the National Cancer Institute José Alencar Gomes da Silva. Qualitative study, descriptive approach. The study was conduced with 105 adult patients undergoing chemotherapy treatment, from December 2019 to March 2020, through semi-structured interview submitted to thematic analysis. The study results pointed to the patients health needs related to guidance on signs and symptoms, chemotherapy treatment, psychosocial area and directed to autonomy and self-care. Investigation and discussion of patients health needs undergoing chemotherapy were carried out by this research. This has made possible the needs manifestations of those who seek care, placing these needs' supply as the center of care strategies, since to provide compatible assistance with the patients needs means bringing resolvability and efficiency to service and, consequently, higher quality to the care. In a mobilizador context of multiple efforts of scientific nature, economic and social to face the pandemic caused for the Sars-Cov-2, in the oncologia the challenge is faced to reorganize the different services in the care line. The objective was to tell to the experience in the leadership and governance of the leader nurse the front of a service of antineoplásica therapy in the pandemic of the COVID-19. From the definition of the flow of attendance of patients with suspicion of infection for Sars-Cov-2 when of the arrival in the clinic of chemotherapy for beginning of quimioterápico treatment they had been established actions that had involved the interlocution directly it enters the leadership of Nursing and the different spheres of management of the institution, considering available the human resources and material. The leader nurse ahead has excellent paper of the challenges taxes for this virus, without treatment still proven, added to the agravos and collateral effect related to the oncological treatment and the organization of a chemotherapy service. Objective: To identify possible nursing diagnoses related to the adverse effects of antineoplastic chemotherapy in cancer patients. Method: Quantitative, descriptive study, performed at the chemotherapy ambulatory of a public hospital, in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Seventy patients were included in the sample and interviewed to obtain sociodemographic characteristics. Clinical data and the chemotherapy protocol were obtained from the physical record. Possible toxicities and adverse effects were identified for each chemotherapy protocol through a textbook and, subsequently, nursing diagnoses were identified in the taxonomy of the North American Nursing Diagnosis Association International (NANDA-I), version 2018- 2020, and associates toxicities and adverse effects. Results: The most prevalent primary site was colon and rectum (30%), and breast (30%). All participants were receiving chemotherapy with potential hematological, gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, and dermatological toxicity. Thirty-six nursing diagnoses were identified based on NANDA-I, with a greater predominance of diagnoses in the safety/protection domain, and the elimination and exchange domain. Conclusion: The identification of Nursing Diagnoses based on chemotherapy protocols allows the proposition of individualized care plans to meet the needs of patients undergoing chemotherapy, with a focus on preventing the occurrence and minimizing adverse effects, when already present. Los niños y adolescentes diagnosticados con cáncer se enfrentan a una serie de cambios en los diferentes aspectos de su vida, y experimentan múltiples síntomas físicos y psicosociales a causa de la enfermedad y su tratamiento, lo que afecta su calidad de vida y la de sus cuidadores. Objetivo: Indagar el estado del aspecto investigativo relacionado con la temática sobre evaluación de síntomas en niños y adolescentes con cáncer. Método: Revisión integrativa de la producción científica generada entre 2007 y 2018 en las bases de datos Embase, Ovid, Medline, Pubmed, Science Direct y Scielo en inglés, español y portugués. Se incluyeron 50 artículos que aportan información sobre evaluación de síntomas en población pediátrica con diagnóstico de cáncer. Resultados: Las investigaciones sobre herramientas que evalúan la manifestación de síntomas, adaptadas y validadas a población pediátrica son limitadas. Conclusiones: Los niños y adolescentes con cáncer presentan síntomas durante las distintas fases de la enfermedad y el tratamiento. Son escasos los estudios sobre estos síntomas en el contexto local, por tanto se requiere validar escalas específicas para esta población, describir los síntomas incluyendo variables clínicas y de calidad de vida percibidas que sirvan para orientar intervenciones oportunas en el manejo de los mismos.

Objetivos: Determinar el efecto de la intervención educativa de enfermería en mujeres con cáncer de mama durante el postoperatorio para fortalecer la competencia de cuidado en el hogar. Método: Se trata de un abordaje cuasi experimental, que conto con un total de 88 mujeres. El grupo de intervención estuvo constituido por 58 participantes y el control por 30. Las mujeres en los dos grupos recibieron un cuestionario que evalúo su competencia para el cuidado en el hogar al ingreso hospitalario. Una intervención de enfermería se aplicó desde el ingreso hasta cuatro semanas después de la cirugía con el grupo de intervención mientras que el control continuo recibiendo la intervención convencional. Los dos grupos aplicaron nuevamente el cuestionario de competencia para el cuidado en el hogar 4 semanas después del egreso. Resultados: En el grupo intervenido, la diferencia entre los puntajes de las medias totales de la competencia para el cuidado en el hogar aumentó significativamente comparado con el control, y en las dimensiones conocimiento, unicidad y bienestar. Conclusiones: La intervención de enfermería estructurada es una estrategia viable que aumenta la competencia para cuidar en el hogar, en mujeres con cáncer de mama sometidos a cirugía.

ABSTRACT Objective: Construct and validate instrument content for nursing consultation in an adult chemotherapy outpatient clinic. Method: Methodological study composed of two stages: elaboration of the instrument and validation of content. A literary review of the dimensions of customer care was carried out in the light of Theory of Basic Human Needs Theory, culminating in two instruments: one for admission consultation and other for follow-up. The content was validated by the evaluation of listed experts based on the adapted Fehring’s Validation Model. Results: In the first round, two items of the admission instrument and three items of follow-up required reformulation. In the second round, there was an increase in agreement rate: 11% in the instrument of admission and 10% in follow-up. Final Consideration: The instrument represents a guideline for the Nursing Process and future research, but it cannot be seen as a substitute for nurses’ knowledge and clinical reasoning.
