The advantages of using natural dyes are reflected in the quality of textiles. Characteristic of natural dyes is that they help protect against ultraviolet radiation (increased UPF value), inhibit the growth of pathogenic bacteria, generally have a beneficial effect, are environmentally friendly and have special aesthetic properties. By argon plasma pretreatment of textile material it is possible to obtain the desired properties since the modifications are made only on the surface of the fiber/material without changing its basic properties. In this study, the synergistic effect of the ecological pretreatment of textiles with argon plasma and natural dyes is investigated. Their effectiveness is tested by evaluating the protective properties against ultraviolet radiation of treated and untreated woolen fabrics according to the standard AS/NZS 4399:1996 using a UV/VIS spectrophotometer. The woolen fabrics tested are treated with a natural dye derived from pomegranate bark after being pretreated with a low-pressure argon plasma under defined conditions. To determine the effect of pretreatment on the degree of degradation of the natural dye, the woolen fabrics were dyed without plasma pretreatment and without salt, which plays the role of mordant in the dyeing process. The test results show that the woolen fabrics pretreated with argon plasma and dyed with a natural dye from pomegranate bark without the addition of salts as mordant has the highest UPF.

In order to improve the quality of digital inkjet printing, the influence of low-pressure plasma treatment on cotton fiber knitwear samples was tested. It is known that the application of plasma on the surface of textile material changes its physical and chemical properties, resulting in a change in surface morphology. In the work, surface activation with oxygen and argon plasma was performed to improve the functional properties of the surface, which was followed by processing with digital inkjet pigment printing. The durability of the digital printing was tested by wash care and abrasion resistance (using the Martindale instrument). The effectiveness of plasma pretreatment on the fastness of digital pigment inkjet printing was characterized by fiber surface analysis using a SEM microscope, and the quality and depth of the print was evaluated by spectroscopic analysis of color coordinates, color strength and total color change (dE).

In order to improve and strengthen the importance of environmental protection and waste management in practice, it is necessary to use waste as a raw material for the production of new materials in a circular economy. With the development of textile technology and materials, it is now possible to produce biodegradable materials, which are an important step in the implementation of waste management and thus environmental protection. In this aspect, the idea of developing materials from textile industrial waste as a raw material for personal use was initiated. The aim of this work is to study the mechanical properties and biodegradability of composites made from shredded modal fibers mixed with thickeners, with and without chitosan as an additional additive, in order to obtain better biodegradable properties in use. Also, a rheological analysis of three types of thickeners with different raw material compositions was carried out, of which carboxymethylcellulose was found to be the most suitable for testing the dry matter content and blending with modal as man-made cellulose fibers. The following tests of the structure of the composites formed, such as surface analysis with a scanning electron microscope, tensile strength with a universal strength tester, while the biodegradability of the samples were carried out by burying them in the soil. The obtained results show that the mechanical properties of the composite structure were improved and the components of the tested composite were almost completely degraded within a degradation period of 50 days, which proves the biodegradability.

For this work, two semi-finished leather products and one finished leather were used in the experiment, for surface pretreatment with ecologically favorable plasma technology followed by digital inkjet printing technology. For ecological as well as technical reasons, the printing process was carried out without primer as well as without polyurethane primer in order to achieve high printing quality. Semi/finished products made of chrome or synthetically tanned bovine leather with different degrees of finishing. The samples are pretreated with oxygen and argon plasma and then printed using digital inkjet pigment printing (direct and transfer). The effectiveness of plasma pretreatment on the durability of digital pigment inkjet printing was characterized by analyzing the surface morphology with a scanning electron microscope, while the coverage of the printing surface was analyzed with a Dino-lite microscope. It was found that the surface of the samples was cleaner but rougher, with accentuated and open grooves and the presence of granulated segments on the pretreated leather surface. The effect of the (pre)treatments on the hydrophilicity, friction resistance, flexural resistance and ageing resistance after exposure to artificial light were performed under controlled laboratory conditions. After 25.000 cycles, almost all of the samples had excellent flexural resistance, as they did after 75 hours of artificial light irradiation, indicating that the samples printed with transfer printing had the highest values, regardless of the type of tanning agent or the type of plasma pretreatment working gas. Due to the spread of pigment ink on the surface during direct printing, it was not possible to apply the primer to semi-finished products. In this case, the only finished sample printed with primer using the direct printing process has the highest score, which is the best score for the direct printing process compared to transfer printing.

This Strategy will enable the Faculty to develop mechanisms for a more efficient use of human resources within individual organisational units as well as the entire institution. It is important to continuously develop cooperation between research groups and disciplines thus increasing institutional capacities as well as national and international recognition. It is necessary to encourage research in areas of national importance that are traditionally and culturally relevant. However, it is equally important to respond to the great societal challenges of our time placed before us by the current research in Europe and the world.

Sveučilište u Zagrebu Tekstilno-tehnološki fakultet (u nastavku Fakultet) međunarodno je priznata obrazovna i znanstvena institucija te vodeća nacionalna i regionalna visokoškolska i istraživačka ustanova u području tekstilnog inženjerstva i tehnologije te modnog dizajna. Fakultet je prepoznatljiv po inovacijama koje su osnova za prijenos znanja u gospodarstvo i temelj njegova razvoja. Znanstvena i umjetnička istraživanja usmjerena su potrebama društvenog i gospodarskog razvoja, a nastavni je proces usklađen s potrebama tržišta rada i društva. Većina nastavnika Fakulteta djeluje u tehničkom području, polje tekstilne tehnologije čiji se rad nadopunjuje i isprepliće s radom nastavnika u umjetničkom, prirodoslovnom, društvenom i humanističkom području te ostalim poljima unutar tehničkog područja s ciljem sinergije, jačanja međusobne povezanosti i interdisciplinarnosti ne samo nastavnog nego i znanstveno-istraživačkog, umjetničkog i stručnog rada. Rad Fakulteta i njegova prepoznatljivost, u regiji i svijetu, temelji se na 60-godišnjem iskustvu u izvođenju tekstilnog studija na Sveučilištu u Zagrebu te 30-godišnjem samostalnom djelovanju Fakulteta kao sastavnice Sveučilišta u Zagrebu. U ovih je 60 godina Fakultet dao vrijedan doprinos razvoju gospodarskog sektora u području proizvodnje tekstila, odjeće, kože i obuće, prvenstveno obrazovanjem visokokvalitetnih diplomiranih inženjera, inženjera, sveučilišnih prvostupnika inženjera i magistara inženjera, ali i provođenjem međunarodnih i nacionalnih znanstvenih, razvojno-istraživačkih, tehnologijskih i stručnih projekata. Postojeće stanje i pozicija Fakulteta u zemlji, regiji, EU-u i svijetu proizašlo je iz razvojnih vizija svih uprava i djelatnika koji su kontinuirano radili na unapređenju nastavnog, znanstveno- istraživačkog, umjetničkog i stručnog rada. The Faculty is recognizable for its innovations, which are the foundation for knowledge transfer into the economy and its development. Scientific and artistic research is focused on the needs of social and economic development, and the teaching process is harmonised with the needs of the labour market and the society. Most faculty teachers operate in the technical field and the field of textile technology, and their work is complemented and intertwined with the work of teachers in artistic, natural, social and humanistic and other fields with the aim of creating synergy, strengthening cooperation and interdisciplinarity not only in teaching, but also in scientific research, artistic and professional work. The work of the Faculty and its recognisability in the region and the world are based on 60 years of experience in conducting textile studies at the University of Zagreb and 30 years of independent work of the Faculty as a component of the University of Zagreb. In these 60 years, the Faculty has made a valuable contribution to the development of the economic sector in the field of textile, clothing, leather and footwear production, primarily by educating high-quality graduate engineers, university bachelors and master engineers, but also by implementing international and national scientific, developmental, research, technological and professional projects. The existing state and position of the Faculty in the country, the region, the EU and the world, stems from the developmental visions of all departments and employees who have continuously worked on improvement in teaching, scientific research, artistic and professional work. The first Strategy for the Development of the Faculty was adopted in 2014 for the period 2014-2020, and this document is the first to introduce indicators for monitoring the effects by individual areas of activity. This document is a strategic framework for the development of teaching, scientific research, innovation, artistic and professional activities of the Faculty and the development of organization and business, infrastructure and quality assurance system for the period from 2021 to 2027. The Development Strategy of the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Textile Technology for the period 2021-2027 was adopted at the 11th regular session of the Faculty Council, held on 20th September 2021.

The causes of breakage and damage of digital inkjet prints are analyzed from the aspect of the cotton fabric surface structural characteristics, physical parameters and the amount of pigment defined by the color characteristic, the method of pretreatment and in real conditions of use and care of a final product. After analyzing the physical and mechanical properties of the textile material, the non coated samples and samples coated by acrylate-based binder, were digitally printed by inkjet technology. The printed samples were analyzed by spectrophotometric measurements, and in terms of the surface morphology by microscopic imaging with a Dino - Lite digital microscope. A test of fastness to different washing conditions was performed and the results are presented in terms of total color difference calculated based on the CIE76 formula, by comparing samples before and after washing. The research was performed in order to solve the real problem of the stability of digital prints in the conditions of care, in cooperation with the company Moira, Nova Gradiška.

In this paper, the effectiveness of Neem (Azadirachta indica) leaves as an natural bioactive agent for textile was investigated. Dyeing of cellulose knitwears were carried out by exhaustion from the bath with optimal concentration of natural coloured extract from the Neem leaves, with and without mordant. Before dyeing, cellulose samples were pretreated with argon and oxygen low-pressure cold plasma under defined conditions. The obtained results were analysed by instrumental methods of surface analysis, colorimetric parameters analysis and microbiological testing against specified bacteria.

The importance of digital skills has drastically increased over the last decades. Also in the Textile and Clothing Industry, numerous software tools improve the efficiency of the work. To make sure that students acquire the necessary digital skills, an Erasmus+ project has been set up. The ICT-Tex project is a Knowledge Alliance aiming to improve the competences in information technology (ICT) for people working in the field of the Textile and Clothing Industry (TCI). This will be done by developing syllabuses that will be provided on an online platform, made available on the project website to all interested parties; The 12 project partners come from all over Europe and join forces by making their expertise available to the project. By the end of 2022 16 courses will be freely accessible. This paper describes the methodology used to develop the content of these courses.

In the paper, different types of polymers (rPLA, PETG, TPU) printed with a 3D printer are tested on textile material used for car interiors. The primary goal is to examine the possibility of 3D printing on textiles for the automotive industry, its adhesive and other mechanical properties. A further goal is to explore possibilities for new ways of designing and aesthetic efficiency of materials used in vehicles as well as potential ergonomically positive effects. The adhesion properties of the polymer-textile material, the strength printed on the surface using the tape method, the wear resistance of the polymer printed on the textile and the ageing of the polymer under simulated conditions are tested. The results are used to select a suitable polymer for the 3D printer and print it on the selected textile material for automotive industry.

The paper shows the application of e-learning methodology in the development of structured courses within the ICT-TEX project (Erasmus+ Knowledge Alliance project). The developed courses belong to the field of textile printing and functionalization, and according to the project guidelines, they are designed as self-sustaining online courses that provide the possibility of education in defined areas of textile technology, for the undergraduate level and above. The ICT in Textile and Clothing Higher Education and Business (ICTTEX) project aims to improve the competencies in Information Communication Technology (ICT) for people working in the Textile and Clothing Industry (TCI). Following the focus on the importance of the application and use of ICT in textile technologies, 16 courses grouped into 8 educational modules were developed. The paper will present in more detail two courses developed as part of the Finishing, printing and functionalization module – Novel Trend in Textile Functionalization, Basic Principles of Textile Printing and Finishing in in the Function of Digital Printing.

This paper gives a brief presentation of the ICT-TEX project, as well as discusses the main points of the developed module Industrial Engineering, Quality Control, and Management and its courses “Information Technologies for Statistical Analysis and Quality Control” and “QMS/EMS implementation and control”.

In this paper, metamerism was investigated with the aim of determining the difference in the behaviour of knit fabrics dyed with the pure dyes and mixtures from a various suppliers under different light sources. We have received an inquiry from the factory that metamerism of new cheaper dyes (Softolon) should be tested again compared to the old dyes (Tectilon). For the testing materials, the factory sent to us dyed tights made of polyamide knit. In this paper, the received samples were spectrophotometrically measured. The considered quality of the Softolon dyes in comparison with the Tectilon dyes from all spectrophotometric researches is equal. Both dyes show no signs of metamerism and are of exceptional quality in the context of colour reproduction and tinting.

Ova Strategija je strateški okvir razvoja nastavne, znanstveno-istraživačke, inovacijske, umjetničke i stručne djelatnosti Fakulteta te razvoja organizacije i poslovanja, infrastrukture i sustava osiguranja kvalitete za razdoblje od 2021. do 2027. godine. Strategija razvoja Sveučilišta u Zagrebu Tekstilno-tehnološkog fakulteta izrađena je u skladu s dokumentima Europske komisije, Vlade Republike Hrvatske i Sveučilišta u Zagrebu.

Održivi razvitak je razvitak koji zadovoljava potrebe današnjice, a pritom ne ugrožava potrebe budućih generacija. Održivi razvitak ostvaruje ravnotežu između zahtjeva za unapređivanjem kvalitete života (ekonomska sastavnica), za ostvarivanjem socijalne dobrobiti i mira za sve (socijalna sastavnica) te zahtjeva za očuvanjem sastavnica okoliša kao prirodnog dobra o kojima ovise i sadašnja i buduće generacije. Poštivanje načela demokracije, ravnopravnosti spolova, socijalne pravde i solidarnosti, zakonitosti, poštivanje prava čovjeka te očuvanje prirodnih dobara, kulturne baštine i čovjekova okoliša pridonose očuvanju Zemlje za održavanje života u svoj svojoj raznolikosti. Strategija održivog razvitka Republike Hrvatske ključni je dokument koji se nalazi u okviru Zakona o zaštiti okoliša koji je na snazi od studenog 2007. Strategija sadrži temeljna načela i mjerila za određivanje ciljeva i prioriteta u promišljanju dugoročne preobrazbe prema održivom razvitku Republike Hrvatske. Imajući u vidu ostvarenje održivog razvitka Republike Hrvatske, Strategija postavlja osnovne ciljeve i mjere održivog razvitka gospodarstva, održivoga socijalnog razvitka te zaštite okoliša i identificira ključne izazove u njihovu ostvarivanju. Kao ključni izazovi ostvarenja održivog razvoja RH kroz Strategiju dugoročno je definirano djelovanje u osam (8) ključnih područja za čije ostvarenje je nužno preusmjeriti postojeće procese prema održivijem ponašanju. Održiva proizvodnja i potrošnja (jedan od ključnih područja Strategije) bave se zadovoljavanjem temeljnih ljudskih potreba i unapređivanjem kvalitete života na način da se minimizira korištenje prirodnih dobara, stvaranje toksičnih tvari, emisije u zrak, vodu i tlo, te sprečava ili smanjuje proizvodnja otpada na mjestu nastajanja tijekom cijeloga životnog ciklusa proizvoda kako se ne bi ugrozile potrebe budućih generacija. Dok se održiva proizvodnja odnosi isključivo na proizvodni proces tj. proizvođače te vodi računa o ekonomskim, socijalnim i okolišnim utjecajima procesa proizvodnje, održiva se potrošnja jednako odnosi i na proizvodni i na potrošački dio procesa, odnosno odgovornost za održivu potrošnju jednako leži i na proizvođačima i na potrošačima. Tekstilnu industriju prati velika potrošnja vodnih resursa i radi se o energetski zahtjevnim proizvodnim procesima čiji izvor su najvećim dijelom plin, nafta i ugljen, čime se generira velika količina štetnih emisija i smatra se da je tekstilna industrija odgovorna za oko 10% globalne emisije ugljičnog dioksida (CO2) u Zemljinu atmosferu i emisiju 1, 2 mlrd. tona stakleničkih plinova godišnje, a što je više od zajedničkog doprinosa međunarodnog zračnog i riječnog prometa, što tekstilnu industriju svrstava na 2. mjesto svjetskih onečišćivača (odmah iza industrije prerade nafte i naftnih derivata). Nedvojbeno je da tekstilna industrija neprestano raste, stoga rastu i ekološka pitanja vezana uz njen rast i razvoj.

Posljednjih 20-ak godina primjena tehnologije hladne plazme na području razvoja ekoloških postupaka predobrade i oplemenjivanja tekstilnih materijala modifikacijama koje se odvijaju u interakciji plazme i tekstilne površine, a u svrhu postizanja potrebnih funkcionalnih svojstava tekstilnih proizvoda, vrlo je aktualna.

Znak zaštite okoliša ''Prijatelj okoliša'' dobrovoljni je instrument zaštite okoliša za označavanje proizvoda, koji se u usporedbi sa sličnim proizvodima odlikuju manje negativnim utjecajem na okoliš u cjelokupnom životnom ciklusu. Potrošaču pruža potpunu, vjerodostojnu i znanstveno utemeljenu informaciju o utjecaju proizvoda na okoliš. Pripada Tipu I eko-oznaka i deklaracija prema međunarodnoj normi EN ISO 14024:2018, (HRN EN ISO 14024:2018 - Znakovi i izjave o zaštiti okoliša -- Označivanje znakovima zaštite okoliša tipa I -- Načela i postupci). Izgled znaka propisan je Pravilnikom o znaku zaštite okoliša (NN 91/2016. U okviru projekta Izrada mjerila za znak zaštite okoliša Prijatelj okoliša za skupinu proizvoda „koža“(S. Ercegović Ražić i J. Akalović, 2017.) naručitelja Ministarstva zaštite okoliša i prirode RH, provedena je analiza hrvatskih proizvođača kože i skupine proizvoda od kože, o interesu prema nacionalnom znaku okoliša “Prijatelj okoliša” na području Hrvatske, o zainteresiranosti za ekološka pitanja i proizvodnji koja bi bila u skladu s ekološkim zahtjevima u pogledu zaštite okoliša, samim time i stvaranja dodane vrijednosti za što bolji plasman njihovih proizvoda na tržištu, kao i o realnim problemima i okolnostima koje ih u tome sprečavaju. U okviru projekta definirani su primarni ciljevi mjerila za dodjelu znaka zaštite okoliša za kožu, navedeni su prijedlozi mjerila za kožu, kao i procjena i verifikacija za svako mjerilo.

Vijest o dva nova projekta odobrena za financiranje u naredne tri godine. Prvi znanstveni projekt akronima NanoCaTex - PZS-2019-02-5276, voditelja dr.sc. Nikše Krstulovića s Instituta za fiziku, uz suvoditeljstvo s prof.dr.sc. Evom Kovačević s GREMI University Orleans, iz Francuske, u suradnji s znanstvenicama s TTF-a (izv. prof. dr. sc. Sanja Ercegović Ražić i Jelena Peran, mag.ing.techn.text.), realiziran je u okviru Programa suradnje "Znanstvena suradnja", financiran od HRZZ-a. Drugi projekt realiziran je u okviru Erasmus+ programa Alianca znanja u visokom obrazovanju i poslovanju tekstila i odjeće (612248-EPP-1-2019-BG-EPPKA2-KA) akronima ICT-TEX, voditeljice projekta prof. dr. eng. Diane Germanove-Krasteva, Technical University of Sofia, Textile Engineering Department, Sofia, Bulgaria. TTF je jedan od 12 partnera iz 6 EU Zemalja, a izv. prof. dr. sc. Sanja Ercegović voditeljica (projektna menadžerica) ispred Sveučilišta u Zagrebu Tekstilno-tehnološkog fakulteta - partnera projekta.

Područje istraživanja primjene plazme prvenstveno je usmjereno prema modifikaciji svojstava materijala sa svrhom postizanja funkcionalizacije tj. poboljšanja površinskih karakteristika (površinska energija i adhezija) bez promjene strukture materijala. Interakcija hladne plazme i površine materijala u svrhu modifikacije ciljanih svojstava je jedna od najinteresantnijih područja primijenjene fizike. Obrade niskotlačnom netermalnom plazmom su ekološki povoljnije, procesi su sigurni, bez štetnih otpadnih tvari, a obrade se provode pri sobnim temperaturama i uz vrlo malu koncentraciju potrebnog sredstva za postizanje odgovarajuće učinkovitosti (npr. antibakterijske i dr).

In order to improve hydrophilicity, dyeing and antimicrobial properties of wool, the potentialapplication of low-pressure oxygen plasma pretreatment was explored. After optimization of process parameters, samples of wool fabrics were dyed with natural dye extracted from Punica granatum L. The effect of plasma pretreatment and mordants on colorimetric and antibacterial properties against Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae was investigated. The results revealed a significant improvement in wicking ability and tensile strength of all tested samples. Plasma pretreatment proved to be suitable for improving color yield and even replacing the application of certain mordants in the process of dyeing wool with pomegranate dye. All samples exhibited good antibacterial activity against tested bacteria. Only a slight decrease in color strength and antibacterial activity is visible on plasma pretreated samples after 28 days of aging.

U okviru istraživanja mogućnosti ciljane modifikacije svojstava plošnih tekstilija sinergističkim djelovanjem plazme i kemijskih sredstava, razvijen je novi postupak izravnog nanošenja kemijskog sredstva na tekstilni materijal niskotlačnom plazmom u struji argona. Pokazao se učinkovitim i osobito prikladnim za nanošenje antibakterijskih agenasa na plošnu tekstiliju.

The purpose of this research was to analysed the influence of a plasma treatment on the surface properties of cellulose based knitwear, especially on the hydrophilicity of raw cotton material. The main goal of this research is to answer the question: is it possible to achieve long-lasting barrier of silver nanoparticles on treated substrate using digital textile printing, which aims to improve antimicrobial efficiency? It is certain that plasma pre-treatment increases the hydrophilic properties of textile materials and impacts the colour spectral parameters of printed area. An increase in the colour yield and fastness, as well as handle of ink jet printed samples was observed on plasma pre-treated sample materials. Antimicrobial analyses showed that the silver nanoparticles, as active compounds of antimicrobial agent, were partially blocked with polymer, which contributed to limiting effect of antimicrobial effectiveness, while the printed area of the sample exhibited better antimicrobial protection and visible inhibition zone was observed.

Na Sveučilištu u Zagrebu, Tekstilno-tehnološkom fakultetu, 24. siječnja 2018. godine održano je 11. znanstveno-stručno savjetovanje Tekstilna znanost i gospodarstvo 2018., s temom Tekstil, koža i obuća - sektor „održivog“ razvoja u RH. Savjetovanje je bilo namijenjeno poticanju održivog razvoja, kroz dva značenja: kroz koncept održivog razvoja u odnosu na prirodne resurse i ekološku prihvatljivost, ali i kroz metaforički održivi razvoj i promicanje sektora tekstila, kože i odjeće kao budućih pokretača oporavka industrijskog razvoja u RH mehanizmima sinergijskog povezivanja znanstveno-istraživačkih i privrednih resursa.

The application of low temperature plasmas in the field of textile industry started in the second half of the 20th century. Since then, plasma technology has emerged as an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional wet processing of textiles that includes high consumption of water, chemicals and energy. Low-pressure plasma is well-known and developed technology with outstanding features such as high concentration of reactive species, superior chemical selectivity and good stability and uniformity in surface modification of textiles. Atmospheric pressure plasma (APP) has emerged as a cost-competitive technology with a possibility of integration in a conventional production line for continuous processing of textile materials. APP treatment is usually applied as a pretreatment process for cleaning, etching and activation of textile surface. It is the first step involved in textile wet processing that removes natural impurities and those added during the process of manufacture thus making the fibre accessible to water, dyes and finishing chemicals. APPs suitable for textile treatments are (i) corona discharge, (ii) dielectric barrier discharge (DBD), (iii) atmospheric pressure glow discharge (APGD) and (iv) atmospheric pressure plasma jet (APPJ) [1]. In this research, for the treatment of siro wool yarns, an atmospheric pressure argon plasma was used, described in previous work [2] and developed at The Institute of Physics Zagreb. The yarn was continuously passing through 130 mm long glass tube of outer diameter 4 mm and inner diameter 1 mm in which argon plasma was generated. Applied plasma parameters were: gas flow rate 2.2 l/min, frequency about 25 kHz, current amplitude around 5 mA, amplitude voltage of 5 kV, power of 2.5 W and yarn speed movement 1.28 cm/s [3]. Analysis of morphological changes using scanning electron microscope (SEM) revealed cleaning of the surface and indications of etching of wool scales. After APP treatment breaking force increased by 26.6 % and breaking elongation by 34.7 % compared to untreated samples. This could be due to etching of the surfaces which caused higher friction between fibres and therefore higher force is required to overcome frictional force and for breakage to occur. Modification of breaking elongation can be attributed to softening of the wool scales making the fibre more elastic. Hairiness and unevenness of the yarn were examined in order to assess the impact of APP treatment on physical properties of wool yarn. A slight decrease of yarn unevenness was observed, whereas the hairiness increased. Subsequent winding of the yarn directly after plasma treatment could have additionally influenced hairiness. It can be concluded that atmospheric pressure argon plasma treatment can have significant impact on mechanical and physical properties of wool yarn. Further researcher needs to be conducted in order to examine influence of plasma on yarn hairiness.

U okviru projekta Izrada mjerila za znak zaštite okoliša Prijatelj okoliša za skupinu proizvoda „koža“, naručitelja Ministarstva zaštite okoliša i energetike Republike Hrvatske, u svrhu ostvarivanja specifičnih rezultata projekta, provedena je analiza među hrvatskim proizvođačima kože i skupine proizvoda od kože, o interesu proizvođača, prema nacionalnom znaku okoliša Prijatelj okoliša na području Hrvatske. Može se zaključiti da su proizvođači kože, proizvođači kožne galanterije i obuće zainteresirani za ekološka pitanja i proizvodnju koja bi bila u skladu s ekološkim zahtjevima u pogledu zaštite okoliša samim time i stvaranja dodane vrijednosti za što bolji plasman njihovih proizvoda na tržištu, ali su isto tako suočeni s realnim problemima i okolnostima koje ih u tome sprečavaju. U sažetku rada su navedeni primarni ciljevi mjerila za dodjelu znaka i prijedlog mjerila, te je prikazan izgled i opis nacionalnog znaka zaštite okoliša, propisan Pravilnikom o znaku zaštite okoliša 'Prijatelj okoliša' (NN 91/2016).

U radu su prikazani rezultati koji pokazuju pozitivan utjecaj predobrade plazmom uz plinove kisik i argon, na poboljšanje ukupne pokrivenosti i postojanosti boje na površini supstrata, zbog fizikalnih promjena (nagrizanje i ablacija površine) na razini morfologije ; kvasivost i hidrofilnost površine je povećana nakon predobrada, posebno kod uzoraka pletiva od pamučnih vlakana. Rezultati također pokazuju značajne razlike u spektralnim karakteristikama boje usporedbom predobrađenih i neobrađenih uzoraka. Jedan od razloga tako dobivenih rezultata je utjecaj predobrade plazmom koja omogućava bolju (dublju) ugradnju polimernog filma unutar strukture pletiva (time i na razini samog vlakna) što dodatno omogućava veći broj čvršćih i stabilnih veza pigmenta sa vlaknastim supstratom, i povećava aktivnu površinu za vezanje pigmenta.

24. siječnja 2018. godine održano je 11. znanstveno-stručno savjetovanje Tekstilna znanost i gospodarstvo 2018. (TZG 2018), s temom Tekstil, koža i obuća - sektor „održivog“ razvoja u RH u organizaciji Sveučilišta u Zagrebu, Tekstilno-tehnološkog fakulteta. Suorganizator Savjetovanja je, sada već tradicionalno, Hrvatski klaster konkurentnosti industrije tekstila, kože i obuće. Savjetovanje je namijenjeno poticanju održivog razvoja, kroz koncept održivog razvoja u odnosu na prirodne resurse i ekološku prihvatljivost, ali i kroz metaforički održivi razvoj i promicanje sektora tekstila, kože, obuće i odjeće kao budućih pokretača oporavka industrijskog razvoja u RH mehanizmima sinergijskog povezivanja znanstveno-istraživačkih i privrednih resursa. Svrha savjetovanja Tekstilna znanost i gospodarstvo prije svega je pružiti priliku kontinuiranog povezivanja i umrežavanja gospodarskih subjekata i akademske zajednice, ali i doprinijeti razvoju struke i još boljeg povezivanja kroz zajedničke istraživačke, razvojne i stručne projekte. Program skupa uključivao je plenarno predavanje, pozvana predavanja, okrugli stol, radionice, izložbe proizvoda tvrtki i radova srednjoškolaca i studenata te poster prezentaciju znanstveno – istraživačkih, umjetničkih i stručnih radova. Objavljen je i Zbornik radova u e-obliku (poveznica http://tzg.ttf.unizg.hr/Zbornik_radova_TZG_2018.pdf) s ukupno 36 radova koji su u okviru savjetovanja recenzirani i prezentirani u posterskoj sekciji, od kojih je 15 kategorizirano kao znanstveni radovi, 2 rada su pregledna i 19 stručnih radova. Ovogodišnjem savjetovanju Tekstilna znanost i gospodarstvo 2018. prisustvovao je velik broj gospodarstvenika, predstavnika ministarstava, predstavnika akademske zajednice, te medija.

U novije vrijeme sve veći zahtjevi postavljaju se na tekstilne materijale, odjeću, obuću i opremu u svrhu zaštite ljudskog zdravlja ali i sigurnosti ljudi u različitim uvjetima rada. U Republici Hrvatskoj kao i u ostalim europskim zemljama zaštita na radu definirana je propisima, te je međunarodna organizacija rada izradila konvencije koje je RH i prihvatila na temelju notifikacije o sukcesiji, što znači da je iste ugradila u svoje propise. Danas je osnovni propis u RH kojim se propisuje zaštita na radu Zakon o zaštiti na radu (NN77/14, 118/14) preko kojeg se u pravni poredak RH prenose razne Direktive EU. Općenito, zaštita na radu se definira kao sustav pravila, načela, mjera, postupaka i aktivnosti, čijom se organiziranom primjenom ostvaruje i poboljšava sigurnost i zaštita zdravlja na radu, s ciljem sprječavanja rizika na radu, ozljeda, profesionalnih bolesti na radu, materijalnih i nematerijalnih šteta na radu i u vezi s radom. Stoga se na poslodavce ali i radnike postavljaju odgovarajući zahtjevi i pravila, koja trebaju biti izrađena i prihvaćena u radu. Poslodavac treba izraditi dokument Procjenu rizika s opisom svakog radnog mjesta i opasnostima koje su vezane uz svako radno mjesto, te voditi brigu o radnicima na način da organizira i provodi zaštitu na radu, ali provoditi osposobljavanje radnika za rad na siguran način, obavještavati i savjetovati radnike, osiguravati korištenje zaštitnih sredstava, osobne zaštitne opreme, nadzorne uređaje kao sredstva zaštite na radu, unaprjeđivati tehnologiju i postupke u procesu proizvodnje, voditi brigu o štetnostima kojima su izloženi radnici i njegovati dobre odnose s radnicima i njihovim povjerenicima u vidu očuvanja njihove sigurnosti i zdravlja. Temeljem iznesenog sasvim je jasno da se i na tekstilne materijale, odjeću, obuću i opremu postavljaju sve već i zahtjevi i izazovi s ciljem postizanja zaštite i sigurnosti radnika u različitim uvjetima rada. Zahtjevi koji se postavljaju na tekstilne materijale (time i zaštitnu odjeću i obuću) uvjetuju kontinuirano poboljšavanje procesa proizvodnje polimera, vlakana, materijala, odjeće, obuće i opreme, koji poprimaju nova svojstva i time osiguravaju potrebna zaštitna svojstva, kao što su npr. zaštita od topline, plamena, kemikalija, UV zračenja, raznih izvora zračenja (ioniziranih), smanjenje sklonosti pojavi statičkog elektriciteta (antistatičkih svojstava), antibalističkih svojstava, mehaničkih opasnosti, otpornosti prema mikroorganizmima (bakterije, virusi), vodoodbojnih svojstava, vodonepropusnosti, i drugih svojstava. Neki od primjera zaštitne odjeće vezane uz zaštitu od požara i ekstremne topline, ali i vatre i topline imaju veliku potrebu za primjenom zaštitne odjeće, pri čemu se ističu vatrogasci i svi oni koji rade u metalnim industrijama s užarenim tekućim metalom, i sl. Zaštitna odjeća mora imati visoki stupanj sofisticiranosti. Danas se na tržištu nalazi veliki broj proizvođača vlakana i materijala koja imaju potrebna svojstva u pogledu zaštitnih svojstava. Sagledavajući svojstva koja treba imati FR (flame resistant/flame retardant) odjeća zaključak je da kemijski otporna odjeća pruža srednju otpornost prema plamenu, dok odjeća otporna na otvoren i plamen minimalnu zaštitu od kemijskih prskanja, stoga je važno je voditi računa i o tipu i kompatibilnosti odjeće. Pritom će sofisticirana zaštitna odjeća osiguravati zaštitu u oba slučaja, i ujedno imati malu težinu, te osigurati razinu udobnosti tijekom nošenja. U tu svrhu ističu se vlakna trgovačkih naziva Nomex, Kevlar, Twaron, Kermel, PBI, P84, Panox vlakna, Kynol, Philene, Basfol, ali i FR pamuk, FR viskoza koji trebaju proći određene obrade kako bi dobili zaštitna svojstva od plamena i topline i dr. Proizvodi odnosno odjeća i oprema koja se dobiva iz navedenih vrsta vlakana je su najčešće u obliku tkanih i netkanih struktura, te se najbolja zaštitna svojstva postižu u vidu višeslojnih zahtjevnih (kompozitnih) konstrukcija. Međutim, zahtjevi u vidu zaštite od štetnih utjecaja postavlja se i kod medicinskih djelatnika, posebno u operacijskim salama gdje postoji vrlo velika mogućnost kontaminacije bakterijama i virusima u smislu liječnik - pacijent i obratno, pri čemu se najčešće koriste sofisticirane membrane (npr. e-PTFE) koje se ugrađuju u odjevni sustav i omogućavaju vrlo visoku razinu zaštite tijekom svakodnevnog rada medicinskog osoblja u operacijskim salama. Pored navedenih vrsta zaštitne odjeće i opreme kod kojih je prisutan visok rizik u pogledu gubitka zdravlja ali i ugroze života, važno je istaknuti potrebu primjene i uporabe zaštitne odjeće i u svim drugim djelatnostima od građevinarstva, cestogradnje, poljodjelstva, pčelarstva, ugostiteljstva, vojske, policije, prehrambene industrije, elektroindustrije, ribarstva, nautike, logistike i prijevoza, zaštitarstva, sve do sportskih aktivnosti.

Due to its efficiency, digital InkJet printing technology, has demonstrated wider possibilities over the customary textile printing methods, such as excellent pattern quality, considerably little pollution, quick response to the frequent shifts on textile product market the reduce of the overall printing costs. However, there are still many open areas in the field of digital InkJet textile printing technology that requires intensive solution finding research in order to overcome the still existing barriers. By following an integrated approach the benefits of textile ink jet printing can maximized by improving the final printed image quality (including print definition), colour yield, colour fastness and the “handle” of the final textile ink jet printed product. Considerable research and developments are now taking place on printing inks composition, print head developments but also on the complex droplet/ substrate interaction and the droplet breakup process while interacting with printed medium, which is of key importance for reproducing digital colour [1, 2]. This paper describes the influence of textile surface pre-treatment using low-pressure plasma on colour spectral parameters of printed surface, which depends on the quantity of bounded pigments as well as on structure of the polymer layer on the surface of textile material. The pre-treatments is required to achieve the optimal benefits of textile ink jet printing by improving the final printed image quality (including print definition), colour yield, colour fastness and the “handle” of the final textile ink jet print. Pre-treatment of textile substrate (raw cotton and man-made cellulosic knitwear for clothes) were performed using low-pressure plasma type Nano LF-40 kHz using oxygen and argon as working gases under optimised plasma processes for fibre surface activation (power of 500W, pressure of 0.34 mbar, gas flow rate of 50 sccm and time duration of 2 minutes). Ink-jet (with Micro Piezo Head) digital textile printer, type Azon Tex Pro that prints directly on fabric, was used in experiments. For a better contribution and explanation of the results of surface analysis, SEM microscope analyse was carried out. For objective evaluation of colour, the Data Color Spectra flash SF+ 600 remission spectrophotometer was used, and for expression of colour differences the CIE 76 as first colour difference formula that related a measured to a known set of CIELAB coordinates, was performed. Printed image quality and colour fastness were analysed through Wash test and Abrasion test (using Martindale apparatus) according to standardized testing methods. Obtained results showed positive impact of oxygen/argon plasma pre-treatment with improving the total colour yield on the surface of substrate, because of better wettability and hydrophilicity of such pre-treated samples. The results showed significant differences in colour characteristics of pre-treaded textile samples in compare to untreated ones. One of the reasons of such results is that plasma pre-treatment allows deeper embedding of the printing ink polymer film into a structure of a fibre which further allows more firm and durable bonds of pigment with fibrous substrates and enlarges the active surface for pigment bonding.

U ovome radu dan je uvod u atmosferske plazme koje se primjenjuju u tekstilnoj industriji, s posebnim naglaskom na svojstva i primjenu atmosferske plazme na bazi dielektričnog barijernog pražnjenja (DBD). DBD predstavlja jedan od 4 osnovna načina dobivanja hladne plazme pri atmosferskom tlaku, a karakteristika mu je primjena dielektričnog materijala u sustavu elektrodi koji osigurava nastajanje i stabilnost nastale hladne plazme. Primjena unutar tekstilne industrije glavnim dijelom je orijentirana na postupke predobrade tekstilnih materijala putem procesa čišćenja, aktivacije i funkcionalizacije, nagrizanja te polimerizacije u svrhu povećanja sorpcijskih svojstava te postupaka mokrog oplemenjivanja poput (bio)iskuhavanja, bojadisanja, antimikrobnih obrada, dobivanja kozmetotekstilija, termički stabilnih uzoraka i dr. Pregledom različitih dosadašnjih objavljenih istraživanja primjene DBD atmosferske plazme može se uvidjeti važnost i učinkovitost plazma tehnologije kao ekološki i ekonomski prihvatljive alternative dosadašnjim konvencionalnim postupcima obrada.

The present paper describes efficiency of the low-pressure plasma process for improving of deposition process on chemical-physical activated cellulose fabric surfaces. The surface of cellulose substrates was pre-treated with O2 plasma followed by acrylic acid (AAc) as monomer in plasma polymerisation process with surface of raw cotton fabrics in continuous treatment process was used (O2/AAc). AAc as monomer was applied on the fabric surface using PE-CVD process. Modifications of cellulose fibres were studied in respect to surface effects by means of SEM microscopy while the chemical effects of plasma treatment were studied using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Results indicate that the surface of the cotton fibres treated with AAc was cleaner and smother with micro-fibrils visible along to fibre axis, what is in correlation with results of hydrophilic properties of O2/ AAc treated samples. According results of XPS spectra, oxygen plasma certainly changed the chemical surface structure of tested cotton whereby the deposition of the AAc nano-layer on the fibre surface was enabled.

In this paper, the influence of low-pressure O2 plasma on surface properties and dyeability of wool is studied. Wool is a natural fiber that consists mainly of keratin protein with high number of disulfide cysteine crosslinkages (-S-S-). It has a complex morphological structure containing internal cortical cells that make 90 % of fiber and external cuticular cells. This complex structure makes chemical processing of wool difficult. The scales need to be removed in order to improve wool absorbency and make the penetration of dyes and chemicals possible [1, 2]. There is a number of methods researched in order to modify wool surface by physical and chemical means such as ultrasound, ozone, enzyme treatments, microwave irridation, laser technology, plasma etc [3]. Fiber surface modification using plasma is an environmentally friendly, dry-state process that modifies only the outer layer of substrate and consumes minimal amounts of gasses or monomer vapor [2]. In this research, plasma etching of wool surface was conducted using different process parameters (300 W and 500 W) for 2 and 5 minutes. Natural dye extracted from Punica granatum L. – Punicaceae and 2% KAl(SO4)2 and 0, 1M AgNO3 as mordants were used on plasma pretreated wool. Results show great increase in wettability of all plasma treated samples. An increase in the breaking strength and elongation was observed with increased flexural rigidity. The color strength of plasma treated and untreated samples was analyzed using remission spectrophotometer. Color depth (K/S values) indicate that plasma pretreatments can increase the dye exhaustion and can even replace the application of mordants.

Textile materials exposed to plasma undergo chemical and physical transformations in their surface layer and the resulting final properties include increased hydrophilicity, wettability, adhesion properties, improved dyeing and printing properties, electrostatic properties, etc. The present research is focused on the optimization of plasma process parameters for achieving targeted functional properties of different textile materials. Activation of textile materials surface was carried out using low-pressure plasma system (LP-Nano LF-40 kHz, Diener) with O2 as non-polymerizing gas at optimized process parameters. Plasma was investigated by optical emission spectroscopy (OES) and the process parameters for which oxygen concentrations were known have been used. For OES measurements Avantes AvaSpec 3648 16-bit CCD spectrometer with a nominal spectral resolution of 0.8 nm in the optical range from 200 to 1100 nm was used. Morphology of the fibers surface were analyzed using SEM microscopy, while the wettability properties of all samples were explored by testing capillary rise of water by vertical test. To achieve antibacterial properties of the cotton, lyocell and modal fabrics, solution of silver nitrate was used, while for dyeing of the lyocell and modal fabrics reactive phthalocyanine dyestuff was applied. Wool fabrics were treated with aqueous plant extract of Punica granatum L.- Punicaceae, by using exhaustion method, with or without 2% KAl(SO4)2 and 0, 1M AgNO3 solution of metal salts. Results indicate that the pretreatment of the surfaces with O2 plasma certainly increases the exhaustion rate of treated fabrics with phthalocyanine and natural dyes. The antibacterial efficiency against selected bacteria was also confirmed. Pretreatment with oxygen plasma indicates the changes in the surface layer of the fibers, which are in correlation with the increasing degree of wettability of all samples.

Suvremena istraživanja u tekstilnoj industriji usmjerena su prema razvoju tekstila termoregulacijskih svojstava ugradnjom materijala s promjenom faze (engl. Phase Change Material, PCM). To su tvari ili smjese tvari koje promjenom agregatnog stanja primaju i oslobađaju velike količine energije u obliku latentne topline uz istovremenu minimalnu promjenu vlastite temperature. Kada se postigne temperatura tališta dolazi do promjene faze te pohrane latentne topline čija je posljedica efekt hlađenja u tekstilnom sloju. Izvor topline može biti ljudsko tijelo pri tjelesnoj aktivnosti ili visoka temperatura okoline. Ukoliko se odjevni predmet nosi u uvjetima temperature niže od temperature skrutnjavanja PCM-a, dolazi do prijelaza u kruto agregatno stanje i oslobađanja topline te efekta zagrijavanja. Na ovaj način postiže se održavanje termofiziološke udobnosti. Danas je definirano preko 500 prirodnih i sintetskih materijala s promjenom faze koji se razlikuju, osim kemijskim sastavom, rasponom temperature u kojem dolazi do promjena faze te toplinskim kapacitetom. Upravo veliki raspon temperatura u kojima materijala s promjenom faze pokazuju aktivnost omogućuje široku primjenu u zaštitnom tekstilu, kućanskom tekstilu, prehrambenoj industriji, građevinarstvu, medicini, automobilskoj industriji itd.

In June, 2015 at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Textile Technology implementation of project "Development of Qualification Standards and Undergraduate Study Programs of Faculty at Textile Technology ", code HR 3.1.15-0026 has started. The project is co-financed by the European Union from the European Social Fund (ESF). The project is at the European level in compliance with the Europe 2020 Strategy, which advocates development of society based on knowledge and innovation and the objectives related to employment and education. The overall objective of the Project is to improve the quality of higher education in the field of the textile technology and engineering, as well as textile and fashion design, through development and implementation of the Croatian Qualifications Framework. This paper describes some of activities, goals and first outcomes of the implemented project activities, such as improving of teaching competences through learning outcomes for creating qualification standards, preliminary activities which were important for development of qualification standards and implementation of measures for improving of the students' success.

Na Tekstilno-tehnološkom fakultetu je u lipnju 2015. započela provedba projekta „Razvoj standarda kvalifikacija i preddiplomskih studijskih programa na Tekstilno - tehnološkom fakultetu“ (broj: HR 3.1.15-0026). Projekt sufinancira Europska unija iz Europskog socijalnog fonda. Opći cilj projekta je unaprjeđenje kvalitete visokog obrazovanja u području tekstilne tehnologije i inženjerstva, te tekstilnog i modnog dizajna, kroz razvoj i provedbu Hrvatskog kvalifikacijskog okvira. U radu je dan prikaz 8 projektnih aktivnosti, te osvrt na provedbu istih u prvoj polovici projekta.

In order to carried out the targeted modification of properties and achieve the desired effects by plasma treatment, it is necessary to determine and optimize the processing parameters such as the type of gas, gas flow rate, operating frequency, current, voltage, treatment time and distance between the electrodes and the substrate surface. In this paper the plasma device designed for treatment of spun yarns from lyocell fibers is applied, by varying the velocity i.e. time of the passage of yarn through the glass coil inside of which is created an argon plasma for uniform yarn treatment at atmospheric pressure. The effect of the plasma is determined by testing the physical properties - unevenness and hairiness, and part of the mechanical properties - breaking force and elongation. Results indicate that argon plasma acting to modification of physical properties of tested yarns but for optimizing of the process parameters it is necessary to carry out more treatments under various conditions. According to obtained results of tested physical properties, the changes are mainly reflected in the reduction of yarn hairiness and unevenness. Argon plasma at different time and velocity does not significantly affect on the distortion of the mechanical properties expressed through breaking force and elongation, and tensile strength of tested yarns.

Effectiveness of low-pressure plasma for modification and functionalization of cellulose Lyocell fabrics by deposition process of organosilicone/Ag compounds to achieving of antibacterial activity was explored in paper. In the first part of the study, the influence of oxygen plasma activation process on surface properties was determined. The second part includes application of silver nitrate solution (AgNO3) in combination with hexamethyldisiloxane (C6H18OSi ; HMDSO) by PE- CVD (plasma enchanced-chemical vapour deposition) process for surface functionalisation and achieving antibacterial activity of treated cellulose based material.
