A prefix of Romance origin, important in the inventory of derivatives of these languages, particularly French, re- still presents interest from an etymological point of view, but also from the perspective of its productivity and its relations with the other Romance or non-Romance derivatives. The prefix has had a special evolution in Romanian, where, on the one hand, it is inherited from Latin and has been preserved in a series of derivates3, and, on the other, it is borrowed from French and Italian; the inherited prefix, as opposed to that of Romance descent, comes to have the same form with a Slavic prefix, i.e. ră-. In the stages preceding the loan of Romance terms, the Latin re-, transformed in Romanian into ră-, seems to have been replaced by the Slavic prefix with the same form. The numerous entries, which a bilingual dictionary from the first half of the nineteenth century assigns to it, show the clear preference of the Romance derivative over its Slavic homonym. The article aims to compare and contrast the competition between the forms re- and ră- as they are illustrated by the bilingual dictionary, a work published in a century when the prefix re- seems to have had a significant role in the derivational practices in Romanian. The Fantastic. Stylistic Elements in the Textual Sequences. In the attempt of describing some stylistic procedures which make possible the unity of a text with at least one non-verisimile sequence, I analysed Mihai Eminescu's The Avatars of Pharao Tla. The purpose of this article is to show how name and verbal repetitions, the descriptions which create space and time, and the construction and de-construction of the characters' names manage to create (textual) unity and sequence cohesion. In our opinion, bilingual dictionaries are the expression of the necessity of transposing a word from one language to another immediately. Thus, we can affirm that bilingual dictionaries attest the immediate lexical necessities of the speaker. The bilingual Romanian - French and French - Romanian dictionaries prove that French words substitute Romanian words in certain developing fields of the modern period in Romania. During the 19th century, French words were used mainly there where no Romanian word existed to describe the object, thus remedying a communicational gap. A long time ago we appreciated, using the means we had at out disposal at the time, and we still appreciate that translation is an attempt at meaning, an attempt at identifying it and at transferring it into an expression of another language. Convinced that translation can be assigned such roles/functions, we studied the way in which the collocation [a lumii mireasă > the world's bride] was translated into English, Italian, French and German. We have come to an important conclusion regarding the degree in which the idiomatic terms cover the semantic space. In agreement with the initial taxonomic intention of this study, we present here a demonstration regarding the typologic quality of an image looked at as an element of mentality, bringing in for support arguments offered by the comparison of the translations (0).
