There is still considerable disagreement among Frege's exegetes on how Frege's logical universalism relates to modem semantics; does the former obstruct the development and/or the use of the latter? Two sides exist on this issue. The first one quotes many sections of the Grundgesetze which seem to contain genuine semantic reasonings. The other one claims that Frege holds these sections to be strict elucidations excluded de jure from the realm of science. My aim is to shed light on this problem. For this purpose, I contest the following commonplaces: (1) that Frege was concerned with indicating the slightest change of his thoughts, and (2) that his philosophical theses can be studied regardless of his particular symbolism. l thus complete the two tasks of tracing back the origins of the underlying ideas in the Ideography of 1893 and of building up this very system step by step. My results, attached to my rejection of (1) and (2), shed a new light m the issue raised above. They lead us to the radical position that not only did Frege not reject semantics, but that he himself paved the way to such a semantic theory in order to prove metalogical theorems. I then try to formalize the former so as to locate his errors in the latter. This work eventually leads to a thorough study of the famous §§ 29-31 of the Grundgesetze.; Un important désaccord subsiste parmi les exégètes de Frege au sujet de la question suivante : quel rapport entretient l'universalisme logique de Frege avec la sémantique contemporaine ? Le premier constitue-t-il un obstacle à l'élaboration et/ou à l'exploitation de la seconde ? Face à cette interrogation deux camps s'affrontent. L'un dresse la liste considérable des passages des Grundgesetze dans lesquels Frege sembla se lancer dans de véritables raisonnements sémantiques. L'autre rétorque qu'il s'agissait à ses yeux de pures élucidations, bannies de jure de la sphère théorique. Notre objectif consiste à faire toute la lumière sur ce problème. Dans ce but, nous nous appliquons à combattre deux poncifs ancrés dans la littérature. Frege's Grundgesetze was one of the 19th century forerunners to contemporary set theory which was plagued by the Russell paradox. In recent years, it has been shown that subsystems of the Grundgesetze formed by restricting the comprehension schema are consistent. One aim of this paper is to ascertain how much set theory can be developed within these consistent fragments of the Grundgesetze, and our main theorem shows that there is a model of a fragment of the Grundgesetze which defines a model of all the axioms of Zermelo-Fraenkel set theory with the exception of the power set axiom. The proof of this result appeals to G\"odel's constructible universe of sets, which G\"odel famously used to show the relative consistency of the continuum hypothesis. More specifically, our proofs appeal to Kripke and Platek's idea of the projectum within the constructible universe as well as to a weak version of uniformization (which does not involve knowledge of Jensen's fine structure theory). The axioms of the Grundgesetze are examples of abstraction principles, and the other primary aim of this paper is to articulate a sufficient condition for the consistency of abstraction principles with limited amounts of comprehension. As an application, we resolve an analogue of the joint consistency problem in the predicative setting.

Accepted for pubblication and forthcoming in Manuscrito; This paper aims at clarifying the nature of Frege's system of logic, as presented in the first volume of the Grundgesetze. We undertake a rational reconstruction of this system, by distinguishing its propositional and predicate fragments. This allows us to emphasise the differences and similarities between this system and a modern system of classical second-order logic.

International audience; Dieser Artikel, der dem iterativen Problem der Rechtsquellen in Italien gewidmet ist, ist eine entschiedene Kritik an der kompromittierenden Logik, die der Arbeit der 1997 eingerichteten Zweikammer-Kommission für institutionelle Reformen voranging. Die erklärten Rationalisierungs- und Modernisierungsabsichten sind in der Tat auf die politische Realität unausgesprochener parteiischer Ziele gestoßen, die die Unleserlichkeit des Projekts nur noch erhöht haben. Die Beiträge des Komparatismus (hauptsächlich aus dem Verfassungsrecht der Fünften Französischen Republik) wurden von den "Neo-Konstituenten" übernommen, die das System der Quellen nicht rationalisiert, sondern noch undurchsichtiger gemacht haben. Dieses Projekt der Neuordnung der Quellen, obwohl es vorerst einen toten Buchstaben hinterlassen hat, stellt nicht nur aus rechtlicher, sondern auch aus politischer Sicht eine echte Gefahr dar.; This article, devoted to the iterative problem of the sources of law in Italy, is a resolute criticism of the compromising logic that presided over the work of the Bicameral Commission for Institutional Reforms set up in 1997. The declared intentions of rationalization and modernization have in fact run up against the political reality of unspoken partisan objectives that have only increased the illegibility of the project. The contributions of comparatism (mainly from the constitutional law of the Fifth French Republic) have been hijacked by the "neo-constituents" who, far from rationalizing the system of sources, have made it even more obscure. This project of reorganization of sources, although left, for the time being, as a dead letter, presents a real danger not only from a legal point of view but also from a political point of view.; Este artículo, dedicado al problema iterativo de las fuentes del derecho en Italia, es una crítica decidida a la lógica comprometedora que presidió los trabajos de la Comisión Bicameral de Reformas Institucionales creada en 1997.
