Abstract Objective This study aims to analyse the content of internet medical policies, grasp the inherent laws of the development of internet medical policies and provide references for improving the policy system. Methods On the basis of web crawler technology, 436 internet medical policies issued by the central and local governments after the Healthy China Strategy was proposed were collected. The BERTopic model was used to extract topics, and a comprehensive analysis of China’s internet medical policy texts was conducted through the analysis of topic content, topic hierarchy and topic clusters. Results A total of 27 topics were identified in China’s internet medical policies, mainly focussing on five topic clusters: medical service regulation, elderly nursing and children’s healthcare using traditional Chinese medicine, user safety guarantees, health education and communication and infectious disease treatment and recovery guidance. Conclusions Different topic contents play a role in promoting the comprehensive and standardized development of internet medical services. However, there is still room for further improvement in policy integrity, consideration of multiple types of users, and implementation effectiveness. Continuous efforts are needed to optimize the effectiveness of policies.

Abstract Background The progression of Parkinson’s disease (PD) is related to ageing. The accumulation of nuclear alpha-synuclein (α-syn) may accelerate the occurrence of neurodegenerative diseases, but its role in PD remains poorly understood. Methods In the present study, α-syn expression was specifically targeted to the nucleus by constructing an adeno-associated virus (AAV) vector in which a nuclear localization sequence (NLS) was added to the α-syn coding sequence. Virus-mediated gene transfer, behavioural tests, RNA-Seq, immunohistochemistry, western blotting, and quantitative real-time PCR were then performed. Results In vivo experiments using a mouse model showed that nuclear α-syn increased the severity of the PD-like phenotype, including the loss of dopaminergic neurons concomitant with motor impairment and the formation of α-syn inclusions. These nuclear inclusions contained α-syn species of high molecular weights and induced strong transcriptional dysregulation, especially induced high expression of p21 and senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP)-related genes. In addition, the transcriptional alterations induced by nuclear α-syn were associated with gliosis, inflammation, oxidative and DNA damage, and lysosomal dysfunction, and they eventually accelerated neuronal loss and neurodegeneration. Conclusions Our results suggest that nuclear α-syn plays a crucial role in PD pathogenesis.

Biologically-controlled mineralization producing organic-inorganic composites (hard skeletons) by metazoan biomineralizers has been an evolutionary innovation since the earliest Cambrian. Among them, linguliform brachiopods are one of the key invertebrates that secrete calcium phosphate minerals to build their shells. One of the most distinct shell structures is the organo-phosphatic cylindrical column exclusive to phosphatic-shelled brachiopods, including both crown and stem groups. However, the complexity, diversity, and biomineralization processes of these microscopic columns are far from clear in brachiopod ancestors. Here, exquisitely well-preserved columnar shell ultrastructures are reported for the first time in the earliest eoobolids Latusobolus xiaoyangbaensis gen. et sp. nov. and Eoobolus acutulus sp. nov. from the Cambrian Series 2 Shuijingtuo Formation of South China. The hierarchical shell architectures, epithelial cell moulds, and the shape and size of cylindrical columns are scrutinised in these new species. Their calcium phosphate-based biomineralized shells are mainly composed of stacked sandwich columnar units. The secretion and construction of the stacked sandwich model of columnar architecture, which played a significant role in the evolution of linguliforms, is highly biologically controlled and organic-matrix mediated. Furthermore, a continuous transformation of anatomic features resulting from the growth of diverse columnar shells is revealed between Eoobolidae, Lingulellotretidae, and Acrotretida, shedding new light on the evolutionary growth and adaptive innovation of biomineralized columnar architecture among early phosphatic-shelled brachiopods during the Cambrian explosion.

Summary: The evolutionary mechanism behind the early Cambrian animal skeletonization was a complex and multifaceted process involving environmental, ecological, and biological factors. Predation pressure, oxygenation, and seawater chemistry change have frequently been proposed as the main drivers of this biological innovation, yet the selection pressures from microorganisms have been largely overlooked. Here we present evidence that calcareous shells of the earliest mollusks from the basal Cambrian (Fortunian Age, ca. 539–529 million years ago) of Mongolia developed advanced tubule systems that evolved primarily as a defensive strategy against extensive microbial attacks within a microbe-dominated marine ecosystem. These high-density tubules, comprising approximately 35% of shell volume, enable nascent mineralized mollusks to cope with increasing microbial bioerosion caused by boring endolithic cyanobacteria, and hence represent an innovation in shell calcification. Our finding demonstrates that enhanced microboring pressures played a significant role in shaping the calcification of the earliest mineralized mollusks during the Cambrian Explosion.

In order to enhance the durability of fuel cell systems in fuel cell hybrid electric vehicles (FCHEVs), researchers have been dedicated to studying the degradation monitoring models of fuel cells under driving conditions. To predict the actual degradation factors and lifespan of fuel cell systems, a semi-empirical and semi-physical degradation model suitable for automotive was proposed and developed. This degradation model is based on reference degradation rates obtained from experiments under known conditions, which are then adjusted using coefficients based on the electrochemical model. By integrating the degradation model into the vehicle simulation model of FCHEVs, the impact of different fuel cell sizes and dynamic limitations on the efficiency and durability of FCHEVs was analyzed. The results indicate that increasing the fuel cell stack power improves durability while reducing hydrogen consumption, but this effect plateaus after a certain point. Increasing the dynamic limitations of the fuel cell leads to higher hydrogen consumption but also improves durability. When considering only the rated power of the fuel cell, a comparison between 160 kW and 100 kW resulted in a 6% reduction in hydrogen consumption and a 10% increase in durability. However, when considering dynamic limitation factors, comparing the maximum and minimum limitations of a 160 kW fuel cell, hydrogen consumption increased by 10%, while durability increased by 83%.

The development of nuclear energy has led to the depletion of uranium resources and now presents the challenge of treating radioactive wastewater. Extracting uranium from seawater and nuclear wastewater has been identified as an effective strategy for addressing these issues. However, extracting uranium from nuclear wastewater and seawater is still extremely challenging. In this study, an amidoxime-modified feather keratin aerogel (FK-AO aerogel) was prepared using feather keratin for efficient uranium adsorption. The FK-AO aerogel showed an impressive adsorption capacity of 585.88 mg·g−1 in an 8 ppm uranium solution, with a calculated maximum adsorption capacity of 990.10 mg·g−1. Notably, the FK-AO aerogel demonstrated excellent selectivity for U(VI) in simulated seawater that contained coexisting heavy metal ions. In a uranium solution having a salinity of 35 g·L−1 and a concentration of 0.1–2 ppm, the FK-AO aerogel achieved a uranium removal rate of greater than 90 %, indicating its effectiveness in adsorbing uranium in environments having high salinity and low concentration. This suggests that FK-AO aerogel is an ideal adsorbent for extracting uranium from seawater and nuclear wastewater, and it is also expected that it could be used in industrial applications for extracting uranium from seawater.

To further improve the performance of the Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cell (PEMFC), in this paper, we designed a blocked flow channel with trapezoidal baffles, and geometric parameters of the baffle were optimized based on CFD simulation, Artificial Neural Network (ANN), and single-objective optimization methods. The analysis of velocity, pressure, and oxygen distribution in the cathode flow channel shows that the optimized trapezoidal baffle can improve oxygen transport during the reaction. The comparison of the optimization model with the straight flow channel model and the rectangular baffle model shows that the power density of the optimized model is 4.0% higher than that of the straight flow channel model at a voltage of 0.3 V, and the pressure drop is only 37.83% of that of the rectangular baffle model. For on-road PEMFC with a voltage of 0.6 V, the influence of pump power is significant, and the optimized trapezoidal baffle model has a net power increase of 1.47% compared to the rectangular baffle model at 50% pump efficiency and 3.94% at 30% pump efficiency.

In order to meet the increasing pollutants discharge standard, the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) module in the diesel engine after-treatment system is an important means to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions. SCR systems are prone to urea crystallization at lower temperatures, especially during the cold-start conditions of diesel engines. In this study, we use the diesel engine after-treatment system test bench to obtain the boundary parameter of the simulation modules, and the urea crystallization risk assessment model of the diesel SCR system is established. Comparing the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) results with the test bench results, it is shown that the predicted urea film distribution of the assessment model is in good agreement with the experimental results. In order to clarify the various factors that affect the urea crystallization risk, this paper conducts a simulation analysis on a nozzle and mixer structure and operating parameters. The CFD results indicate that the increase in urea spray time will increase the maximum urea film thickness on the SCR system mixer surface. Exhaust temperature is the most important influencing factor. When the diesel engine exhaust temperature increases from 190 °C to 300 °C, the maximum urea film thickness decreases by 32 and the urea film mass accumulation decreases by 5%. Exhaust flow has a small impact on urea crystallization risk. When the exhaust flow increases from 300 kg/h to 600 kg/h, the maximum urea film thickness decreases by 39% and the urea film mass accumulation decreases by about 1%. In addition, urea spray rate, nozzle numbers, spray angle, and spray cone angle are also factors that affect urea crystallization risk.

To achieve diesel engine ultra-low nitrogen oxide emission, light-off selective catalyst reduction (LO-SCR) has been suggested for better performance with lower exhaust temperature. An electric heater upstream of the exhaust aftertreatment system was applied to significantly decrease the NOx emission at a low exhaust temperature. With a 7.2 kW electric heater coupled with LO-SCR, the NOx emission during 200~500 s of the world harmonized transient cycle (WHTC) decreased from 282.6 ppm to 61.5 ppm, which is a decrease of 45%. Application of an upstream diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) decreased the NOx emission by 63% at the same interval at the cost of worse cold-start performance. The urea input was also adjusted to avoid NOx emission during the latter part of the WHTC.

ObjectiveThe lifetime occurrence rate of kidney stones is 14%, making it one of the most prevalent urological conditions. Other contributing elements, such as obesity, diabetes, diet, and heredity, are also taken into account. Our research sought to explore the potential link between high visceral fat scores (METS-VF) and the occurrence of kidney stones, as a means of understanding how to prevent them.MethodsThis research utilized data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), mirroring the demographics of the United States. We carried out an in-depth analysis of the connection between METS-VF and kidney stones, based on data from 29,246 participants in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey spanning 2007 to 2018, involving logistic regression, segmentation, and dose-response curve analysis.ResultsOur study of 29,246 potential participants found that METS-VF was positively associated with the prevalence and progression of kidney stones. After subgroup analysis by gender, race, blood pressure, and blood glucose, our results showed that the ORs for METS-VF and kidney stones were (1.49, 1.44) in males and females, respectively; while in Mexicans, whites, blacks, and In other populations, the OR values were (1.33, 1.43, 1.54, 1.86); in hypertensive and normal populations, the OR values were (1.23, 1.48); in diabetic patients and normoglycemic patients were (1.36,1.43). This proves that it works for all groups of people.SummaryOur studies demonstrate a strong connection between METS-FV and the emergence of kidney stones. It would be beneficial to investigate METS-VF as a marker for kidney stone development and progression in light of these findings.

Anabarella, a conspicuous taxon of early mollusc, is widely distributed in the early Cambrian strata and is considered an important link in the evolutionary lineage that reflects a transitional form from helcionelloids to bivalves. In South China, Anabarella has mainly been documented from Yunnan, Shaanxi, Sichuan, and Hubei provinces. However, the taxonomy of Anabarella is questionable, which has implications for the interpretation of the genus’ temporal and spatial distribution. New and abundant well-preserved specimens of the helcionelloid mollusc Anabarella were recovered from the Member 5 of the Yanjiahe Formation in the Three Gorges area. Through morphological study, these specimens can be definitely identified as A. plana. On the basis of this new material, the species of Anabarella previously reported in the literature from South China were taxonomically revised, and, with the exception of A. plana from the Yanjiahe Formation, other species should be assigned to Igorella. Therefore, at present, A. plana is the only valid species of the genus Anabarella in South China and is limited to Cambrian Stage 2. Study of the available specimens of A. plana reveal three types of microstructures: convex polygonal impressions, concave polygons, and lamello-fibrillar microstructure. In addition, the thicker shell of the sub-apical area and the three different structures of the sub-apical area provide more evidence that A. plana might have adapted a semi-infanual mode of life and indicate that Anabarella is a likely ancestor of Watsonella.

Nuclear accumulation of alpha-synuclein (α-syn) in neurons can promote neurotoxicity, which is considered the key factor in the pathogenesis of synucleinopathy. The damage to hippocampus neurons driven by α-syn pathology is also the potential cause of memory impairment in Parkinson’s disease (PD) patients. In this study, we examined the role of α-syn nuclear translocation in the cognition and motor ability of mice by overexpressing α-syn in cell nuclei in the hippocampus. The results showed that the overexpression of α-syn in nuclei was able to cause significant pathological accumulation of α-syn in the hippocampus, and quickly lead to memory and motor impairments in mice. It might be that nuclear overexpression of α-syn may cause DNA damage of hippocampal neurons, thereby leading to activation and abnormal blocking of cell cycle, and further inducing apoptosis of hippocampal neurons and inflammatory reaction. Meanwhile, the inflammatory reaction further aggravated DNA damage and formed a vicious circle. Therefore, the excessive nuclear translocation of α-syn in hippocampal neurons may be one of the main reasons for cognitive decline in mice.

Environmental pollution sources may play a key role in the pathogenesis of nephrolithiasis, although the link between environmental aldehyde exposure and the incidence of nephrolithiasis is unclear. The researchers in this study set out to see whether adult kidney stone formation was linked to environmental aldehydes. We examined data from 10,175 adult participants over the age of 20 who took part in the 2013–2014 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES), which was a cross-sectional research. A logistic regression model was employed in this work to examine the relationship between aldehyde exposure and kidney stones, machine learning was utilized to predict the connection of different parameters with the development of kidney stones, and a subgroup analysis was performed to identify sensitive groups. After controlling for all confounding variables, the results revealed that isopentanaldehyde, benzaldehyde, and hexanaldehyde were risk factors for kidney stone formation, with odds ratio (OR) of 2.47, 1.12, and 1.17, respectively, and 95 percent confidence intervals (95% CI) of 1.15–5.34, 1.02–1.22, and 1.00–1.36. Kidney stones may be a result of long-term exposure to aldehydes, which may cause them to form. Environmental pollution-related aldehyde exposure might give a novel notion and direction for future study into the process of kidney stone production, even if the cause is yet unknown.

ObjectivesWe aimed to evaluate the relationship between the proportion of Android to Gynoid ratio and the incidence of kidney stones among US adults.MethodsParticipants aged 20-59 years from the 2011-2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database were selected to assess the association between Android to Gynoid ratio and kidney stone prevalence using logistic regression analysis, subgroup analysis and calculation of dose-response curves.ResultsThis study ultimately included 10858 participants, of whom 859 self-reported a history of kidney stones. And after adjusting for all confounders, an increased Android to Gynoid ratio was associated with an increased prevalence of kidney stones (OR=2.75, 95% CI:1.62-4.88). And subgroup analysis showed an increased prevalence of kidney stones in women (OR=3.55, 95% CI: 1.54-8.22), non-diabetic (OR=2.59, 95% CI: 1.45-4.60), 60 > age ≥ 40 years (OR=3.51, 95% CI: 1.83-6.71), Mexican-American (OR=4.35, 95% CI: 1.40- 13.53) and white (OR=3.86, 95% CI: 1.82-8.18) groups, there was a significant positive association between A/G ratio and kidney stones. In contrast, in the hypertensive subgroup, the A/G ratio was associated with kidney stones in all groups.ConclusionsHigher Android to Gynoid ratio is associated with a high prevalence of kidney stone disease.

Background microRNAs contribute to the development and progression of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, the underlying molecular mechanisms are largely unclear. The goal of this study was to investigate the roles of miR-378 in alveolar epithelial type II cells and identify molecular mechanisms which contribute to the pathogenesis of COPD. Materials and methods Human alveolar epithelial (A549) cells were cultured in Dulbecco’s Modified Eagle Medium. Cell proliferation was studied by using a cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) and colony formation assays. Cell apoptosis and cell cycle were analyzed by flow cytometry and wound healing and Transwell were used to analyze the cell migration and. We performed bioinformatics analysis including target gene prediction, gene ontology (GO), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genome (KEGG) pathway enrichment and construction of protein-protein interaction (PPI) network. The expression of miR-378 and NPNT from publically available expression microarray of COPD lung tissues was analyzed. Results Overexpression of miR-378 significantly increases cell proliferation, migration, and suppress apoptosis. GO analysis demonstrated that the miR-378 involved in transcription, vascular endothelial growth factor receptor signaling pathway, phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase signaling, cell migration, blood coagulation, cell shape, protein stabilization and phosphorylation. Pathway enrichment showed that the 1,629 target genes of miR-378 were associated with mTOR, ErbB, TGF-β, MAPK, and FoxO signaling pathways. Notably, miR-378 directly targets Nephronectin in A549 cells, and miR-378 was upregulated while NPNT was downregulated in COPD lung tissue samples. Conclusions These findings suggest that miR-378 can regulate the proliferation, migration, and apoptosis of A549 cells and target NPNT. miR-378 increased in COPD lung tissues while NPNT decreased, and might prove a potential target for novel drug therapy.

The working temperature affects the performance of PEMFC, so a reasonable and efficient cooling channel is necessary to control the working temperature in an efficient area. In this study, the channel structure of the bipolar plate for PEMFC is analyzed using the FLUENT simulation calculation method. The influence of cell size and cooling water flow direction on cell temperature distribution is analyzed, including an examination of the channel ridge width, depth, and aspect ratio of the bipolar plate. After comparing and analyzing three ridge width sizes (0.5 mm, 1.5 mm and 2 mm) in the paper, it was found that a ridge width of 2 mm had the best heat transfer performance. And it was found that a groove depth of 0.5 mm had the best heat transfer performance when comparing three groove depth dimensions (0.5 mm, 1 mm and 1.5 mm). The aspect ratio size parameters had almost no effect on the maximum and average temperatures of the electric stacks, while the relative flow direction of cooling water had a great influence on the temperature distribution of the bipolar plate.

The proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) is a promising energy conversion device due to its high reliability, fast response speed, and low pollutant emission. However, the reality of its commercial application requires further cost reduction and efficiency improvement. The material distribution in the channel and the performance of PEMFC can be improved by setting the boss inside the flow channels. In this paper, the performance of PEMFC with the boss in flow channels in a parallel flow field was analyzed by simulation. The influence of different boss arrangements and heights on gas pressure drop, distribution uniformity, gas component distribution, temperature distribution, and output performance of the fuel cell were analyzed in detail. The bosses would increase the pressure drop and the distribution uniformity of reactive gases in flow channels significantly. The cross-arrangement of bosses is better than the cross-arrangement of bosses and juxtaposition according to increasing performance and pressure drop. The cross-arrangement with a boss height of 0.4 mm is suitable for the parallel flow field in this paper. The improved scheme of flow channel design is proposed to provide a reference for fuel cells for subsequent research.

The hydrogen supply system is one of the important components of a hydrogen fuel cell engine, and its performance has an important impact on the economy and power of the engine system. In this paper, a hydrogen supply system based on cyclic mode is designed for a hydrogen fuel cell stack with a full load power of 150 kW, and the corresponding hydrogen fuel cell engine simulation model is built and validated. The control strategy of the fuel cell hydrogen supply system is developed, and its effect is verified through bench tests. The results show that the developed control strategy can keep the volume fraction of nitrogen below 6%, the hydrogen excess ratio does not exceed 1.5 under medium and high operating conditions, the anode pressure is relatively stable, and the stack can operate efficiently and reliably.

BackgroundThe main objective of this study is to explore the effects of hepatitis C (HCV) on the prevalence rate of kidney stones in US women.MethodDates for HCV infection and kidney stones were collected from National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database, a cross-sectional study. The analysis samples included adults aged ≥20 years and women from six consecutive cycles of the NHANES 2007–2018. The association between HCV infection and kidney stones was performed by using logistic regression models. Subgroup analyses were conducted to find sensitive crowds.ResultsA total of 13,262 participants were enrolled, including 201 infected with HCV. After adjustment for potential confounders, we revealed a positive relationship between HCV and kidney stones (OR = 1.70, 95%CI:1.13–2.56). The crowds' statistically significant difference was characterized by other races (OR = 8.17, 95%CI:1.62–41.22) and BMI within 25–29.9 kg/m2 (OR = 2.45, 95%CI:1.24–4.83).ConclusionsHCV infection may affect the prevalence of urolithiasis in US women, even the causal relationship remains unclear, the relation deserves special attention. We considered such a study an ideal way to begin exploring the effects of HCV on kidney stones.

Small shelly fossils (SSFs) are a useful and critical tool for subdivision and correlation of the Cambrian Terreneuvian stratigraphy. The Maidiping Formation in southern Sichuan is a well-known Terreneuvian lithologic unit with rich SSFs. Here, the upper Maidiping Formation at the Fandian section, an important supplementary section of the classic Maidiping section, is studied for understanding its SSF assemblages and stratigraphic implication. There are 26 genera, 24 species, and 3 undetermined species recovered from the Fandian section, and Watsonella crosbyi was discovered from this section for the first time. Two SSF biozones of the Yangtze Platform, i.e., the possible Paragloborilus subglobosus–Purella squamulosa Assemblage Zone (? Zone II) and the W. crosbyi Assemblage Zone (Zone III), can be recognized. Comparing with the Maidiping section, the Fandian section has a relatively successive SSF biostratigraphy and carbon isotope stratigraphy in the upper Maidiping Formation. The SSF Zone II (?) and Zone III from the Fandian section can be, respectively, correlated to the same zones from the upper Maidiping Formation of the nearby Maidiping section (only Zone III), the upper Zhongyicun and Dahai members of the Zhujiaqing Formation in eastern Yunnan, the top Kuanchuanpu Formation in southern Shaanxi and northern Sichuan, and the beds 4 and 5 (or units 3 and 4) of the Yanjiahe Formation in western Hubei. The almost cosmopolitan distribution and nearly synchronous earliest appearance of W. crosbyi strengthen the applicability of its first appearance data (FAD) to define the base of Cambrian Stage 2 in South China (Xiaotanian) as well as in other continents. The FAD of W. crosbyi just around the onset of the ZHUCE carbon isotope excursion at the Fandian section also further reinforces the utility of the onset of ZHUCE as an auxiliary maker for defining the base of the Xiaotanian in South China.

ObjectiveThe purpose of this study was to examine whether the METS-IR index is associated with kidney stones in American adults.MethodParticipants from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database from 2007-2018 were selected for logistic regression analysis, subgroup analyses, and the calculation of dose-response curves to assess the association between the METS-IR index and the incidence of kidney stones.ResultThis study enrolled 30,612 adults aged >20 years, 2901 of whom self-reported having had kidney stones in the past. And, after controlling for potential confounders, each unit increase in the METS-IR index was linked with a 1.23 percent rise in kidney stone incidence (OR= 1.0123, 95% CI: 1.0092 - 1.0155), with stratified analysis indicating that this was true in all subgroups. Between all groups, an elevated METS-IR index was related to kidney stone formation, and the dose-response curve revealed a positive non-linear connection between METS-IR index and kidney stone risk, with a threshold effect analysis revealing an inflection point value of 50.8314.ConclusionHigher METS-IR index is associated with the occurrence of kidney stones,and while no causative association can be shown, this is cause for concern.

This paper studies the processing of digital media images using a diffusion equation to increase the contrast of the image by stretching or extending the distribution of luminance data of the image to obtain clearer information of digital media images. In this paper, the image enhancement algorithm of nonlinear diffusion filtering is used to add a velocity term to the diffusion function using a coupled denoising model, which makes the diffusion of the original model smooth, and the interferogram is solved numerically with the help of numerical simulation to verify the denoising processing effect before and after the model correction. To meet the real-time applications in the field of video surveillance, this paper focuses on the optimization of the algorithm program, including software pipeline optimization, operation unit balancing, single instruction multiple data optimization, arithmetic operation optimization, and onchip storage optimization. These optimizations enable the nonlinear diffusion filter-based image enhancement algorithm to achieve high processing efficiency on the C674xDSP, with a processing speed of 25 posts per second for 640×480 size video images. Finally, the significance means a value of super pixel blocks is calculated in superpixel units, and the image is segmented into objects and backgrounds by combining with the Otsu threshold segmentation algorithm to mention the image. In this paper, the proposed algorithm experiments with several sets of Kor Kor resolution remote sensing images, respectively, and the Markov random field model and fully convolutional network (FCN) algorithm are used as the comparison algorithm. By comparing the experimental results qualitatively and quantitatively, it is shown that the algorithm in this paper has an obvious practical effect on contrast enhancement of digital media images and has certain practicality and superiority.

Some small shelly fossils are important index fossils for global stratigraphic subdivisions and correlations of the Cambrian Terreneuvian. The first appearance datum (FAD) of the cosmopolitan mollusk Aldanella attleborensis has been suggested as one of the potential markers for defining the base of Cambrian Stage 2. Aldanella fossils were uncommon in South China, and if occurring, were often described as Aldanella yanjiaheensis, A. attleborensis, or indeterminate species in the literature, while A. yanjiaheensis was often taken as a junior synonym of A. attleborensis. Nevertheless, a detailed taxonomic revision of A. yanjiaheensis based on material from its type locality awaits to be made. In this study, we systematically re-evaluated A. yanjiaheensis based on the numerous specimens collected from the base of Member 5 of the Yanjiahe Formation in the Three Gorges area, western Hubei Province of South China. Detailed taxonomic comparison further substantiates that A. yanjiaheensis is a junior synonym of A. attleborensis, signifying its strong potential for a global correlation across paleocontinents. Morphological parameter analyses indicate that the length and width of shell tube of A. attleborensis shows allometric growth. The nearly cosmopolitan distribution and characteristic morphology of A. attleborensis indicate that it can play a significant role in the subdivision and correlation of Cambrian Stage 2. The co-occurrence of A. attleborensis and Watsonella crosbyi from the base of Member 5 of the Yanjiahe Formation corroborates that Member 5 belongs to Cambrian Stage 2.

The Precambrian–Cambrian interval saw the first appearance of disparate modern metazoan phyla equipped with a wide array of mineralized exo- and endo-skeletons. However, the current knowledge of this remarkable metazoan skeletonization bio-event and its environmental interactions is limited because uncertainties have persisted in determining the mineralogy, microstructure, and hierarchical complexity of these earliest animal skeletons. This study characterizes in detail a previously poorly understood fibrous microstructure—the lamello-fibrillar (LF) nacre—in early Cambrian mollusk and hyolith shells and compares it with shell microstructures in modern counterparts (coleoid cuttlebones and serpulid tubes). This comparative study highlights key differences in the LF nacre amongst different lophotrochozoan groups in terms of mineralogical compositions and architectural organization of crystals. The results demonstrate that the LF nacre is a microstructural motif confined to the Mollusca. This study demonstrates that similar fibrous microstructure in Cambrian mollusks and hyoliths actually represent a primitive type of prismatic microstructure constituted of calcitic prisms. Revision of these fibrous microstructures in Cambrian fossils demonstrates that calcitic shells are prevalent in the so-called aragonite sea of the earliest Cambrian. This has important implications for understanding the relationship between seawater chemistry and skeletal mineralogy at the time when skeletons were first acquired by early lophotrochozoan biomineralizers.

The isolated sclerites of the Ocruranus and Eohalobia group are abundant among the early Cambrian small shelly fossil assemblages, which were recently assigned to the same scleritome as an early member of the polyplacophoran (chiton) stem lineage. However, the scleritome reconstruction and zoological affinities of these sclerites are still controversial due to the lack of exceptionally preserved articulated specimens with in-situ sclerites. Herein, we report new specimens of Ocruranus and Eohalobia sclerites from Member 5 of the Yanjiahe Formation, which provide new insights into the reconstruction of the original scleritome. The Eohalobia sclerites from the Yanjiahe Formation have an extended and upfolded proximal field with dense wrinkles, which seems to be a weakly mineralized structure and acted as a joint with another sclerite, Ocruranus. Comparing the butterfly-shaped proximal field on a unique sclerite of Eohalobia with the sub-apical field on Ocruranus sclerites suggests that the original scleritome of this group may consist of only two types of sclerites: the Ocruranus-type and the Eohalobia-type. The polygonal structure on the internal mold of Eohalobia sclerites is interpreted herein as the muscle attachment zone; their distribution corresponds well with that of the modern chitons, which provides strong evidence to support the close relationship between the Ocruranus–Eohalobia group and the Polyplacophora.

The aim of this paper is to analyze the impact of environmental regulation on regional environmental efficiency convergence using the fixed effects model and threshold regression model. The results show that the differences in environmental efficiency have a convergence trend in China, as well as in the eastern, central and western regions. The effect of environmental regulation on regional environmental efficiency is inhibition first and then promotion, research and development investment and outward foreign direct investment have a positive transmission effect; when environmental regulation intensity exceeds a certain threshold, the growth rate of environmental efficiency in the central and western regions will be significantly higher than that in the eastern regions.

Formaldehyde (HCHO) is one of the most important carcinogenic air contaminants in outdoor air. However, the lack of monitoring of the global surface concentration of HCHO is currently hindering research on outdoor HCHO pollution. Traditional methods are either restricted to small areas or, for research on a global scale, too data-demanding. To alleviate this issue, we adopted neural networks to estimate the 2019 global surface HCHO concentration with confidence intervals, utilizing HCHO vertical column density data from TROPOMI, and in-situ data from HAPs (harmful air pollutants) monitoring networks and the ATom mission. Our results show that the global surface HCHO average concentration is 2.30 μg/m3. Furthermore, in terms of regions, the concentrations in the Amazon Basin, Northern China, South-east Asia, the Bay of Bengal, and Central and Western Africa are among the highest. The results from our study provide the first dataset on global surface HCHO concentration. In addition, the derived confidence intervals of surface HCHO concentration add an extra layer of confidence to our results. As a pioneering work in adopting confidence interval estimation to AI-driven atmospheric pollutant research and the first global HCHO surface distribution dataset, our paper paves the way for rigorous study of global ambient HCHO health risk and economic loss, thus providing a basis for pollution control policies worldwide.

Abstract Shell microstructure and mineralogy of Pelagiella madianensis Zhou & Xiao, 1984, a globally distributed Cambrian micromollusk, are investigated based on abundant and extraordinarily well-preserved specimens from Xinji Formation, Longxian, Shaanxi, North China. Five types of aragonitic microstructures have been recognized. The lamello-fibrillar microstructure, previously known from Pelagiella, constructs the outermost shell layer, while the remaining four types are reported here for the first time in this genus. They include fibrous foliated, foliated aragonite, crossed foliated lamellar and isolated tablets. The animal constructs these five types of microstructures to build its shell in a complex hierarchical pattern with four orders: crystallite columns, laths, folia and lamellae. These findings demonstrate that the capability of building complex shell microstructures had already evolved by the Cambrian explosion. In addition, this work shows that early aragonitic shells were constructed with fibers, laths, folia and isolated tablets, indicating increased controls over biomineralization by the animal.

With the development and application of voltage source converter (VSC) high voltage direct current (HVDC) technology, DC distribution is gradually attracting the attention of researchers in recent years. However, many studies are still in the theoretical and exploratory stages. Compared with DC transmission networks, medium-voltage DC (MVDC) distribution networks are more sophisticated with respect to the complex operation modes, high penetration of renewable energy resource, and use of diverse power electronic devices. Therefore, master–slave control strategy which has been widely used in HVDC transmission projects may not be the first choice for DC distribution networks. In this study, a three-terminal DC distribution dynamic simulation platform is initially established and droop control strategy is adopted due to its flexible scalability. Secondly, plug and play solutions for key equipment such as VSCs and DC solid-state transformers are proposed. Thirdly, the response characteristics of a droop control system under high renewable energy resource penetration and frequent transition of operation mode are studied. Fourthly, the system fault isolation and recovery strategy under DC pole-to-pole fault is proposed. Finally, the whole control scheme is validated through experiments using the dynamic simulation platform. In the future, this proposed scheme can be used in the control of VSC-based MVDC distribution networks.

The assembly consistency of a diesel engine will affect its nitrogen oxides (NOx) emission variation. In order to improve the NOx emissions of diesel engines, a study was carried out based on the assembly tolerance variation of the diesel engine’s combustion system. Firstly, a diesel engine which meets the Euro VI standards together with the experimental data is obtained. The mesh model and combustion model of the engine combustion system are built in the Converge software (version 2.4, Tecplot, Bellevue, DC, USA), and the experimental data is used to calibrate the combustion model obtained in the Converge software. Then, the four-factor and three-level orthogonal simulation experiments are carried out on the dimension parameters that include nozzle extension height, throat diameter, shrinkage diameter and combustion chamber depth. Through mathematical analysis on the experimental data, the results show that the variation of nozzle extension height and combustion chamber depth have a strong influence on NOx emission results, and the variation of combustion chamber diameter also has a weak influence on NOx production. According to the regression model obtained from the analysis, there is a quadratic function relating the nozzle extension height and NOx emissions and the amount of NOx increases with increasing nozzle extension height. The relationship between emission performance and size parameters is complex. In the selected size range, the influence of the variation of the chamber diameter on NOx is linear. The variation of the chamber depth also has an effect on NOx production, and the simulation results vary with the change of assembly tolerance variation. Thus, in the engine assembly process, it is necessary to strictly control the nozzle extension height and combustion chamber depth. The research results are useful to improve the NOx emission of diesel engine and provide a basis for the control strategy of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) devices.

In order to understand the reaction mechanism of lignin pyrolysis, the pyrolysis process of guaiacol (o-methoxyphenol) as a lignin model compound was studied by free radical detection technology (electron paramagnetic resonance, EPR) in this paper. It was proven that the pyrolysis reaction of guaiacol is a free radical reaction, and the free radicals which can be detected mainly by EPR are methyl radicals. This paper proposes a process in which four free radicals (radicals 1- C6H4(OH)O*, radicals 5- C6H4(OCH3)O*, methyl radicals, and hydrogen radicals) are continuously rearranged during the pyrolysis of guaiacol.

BackgroundExtant cubozoans are voracious predators characterized by their square shape, four evenly spaced outstretched tentacles and well-developed eyes. A few cubozoan fossils are known from the Middle Cambrian Marjum Formation of Utah and the well-known Carboniferous Mazon Creek Formation of Illinois. Undisputed cubozoan fossils were previously unknown from the early Cambrian; by that time probably all representatives of the living marine phyla, especially those of basal animals, should have evolved.MethodsMicroscopic fossils were recovered from a phosphatic limestone in the Lower Cambrian Kuanchuanpu Formation of South China using traditional acetic-acid maceration. Seven of the pre-hatched pentamerous cubozoan embryos, each of which bears five pairs of subumbrellar tentacle buds, were analyzed in detail through computed microtomography (Micro-CT) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) without coating.ResultsThe figured microscopic fossils are unequivocal pre-hatching embryos based on their spherical fertilization envelope and the enclosed soft-tissue that has preserved key anatomical features arranged in perfect pentaradial symmetry, allowing detailed comparison with modern cnidarians, especially medusozoans. A combination of features, such as the claustrum, gonad-lamella, suspensorium and velarium suspended by the frenula, occur exclusively in the gastrovascular system of extant cubozoans, indicating a cubozoan affinity for these fossils. Additionally, the interior anatomy of these embryonic cubozoan fossils unprecedentedly exhibits the development of many new septum-derived lamellae and well-partitioned gastric pockets unknown in living cubozoans, implying that ancestral cubozoans had already evolved highly specialized structures displaying unexpected complexity at the dawn of the Cambrian. The well-developed endodermic lamellae and gastric pockets developed in the late embryonic stages of these cubozoan fossils are comparable with extant pelagic juvenile cubomedusae rather than sessile cubopolyps, whcih indicates a direct development in these fossil taxa, lacking characteristic stages of a typical cnidarian metagenesis such as planktonic planula and sessile polyps.

Paeoniflorin (PF), which is the main active ingredient in the root of Paeonia Radix, has many pharmacological effects. Here, we investigated the effect of PF on rat pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (PASMCs) under hypoxic conditions and explored the mechanisms of the effects. The anti-proliferative effect of PF increased in a dose dependent manner. At the highest dose (20 μmol/L), the anti-proliferative effect of PF peaked at 24 h after administration.
