The article cites Martha and Mary as models of leadership in the Gospel of John. Mary and Martha are different leaders of two groups of believers in different stages of understanding, even as they are struggling to understand their own grief. Women in leadership positions must meet those Christians to whom they are preaching and teaching wherever they are in their journey.

The article presents the author's musings on why she enrolled in a seminary to complete a Biblical Studies course. She talks about having the inclination to join the seminary but was somehow discourage by the difficulties and the belief that only boys can go there. After fifty years of working, she finally heed the call, learned Greek and Hebrew, read Ethics books and lecture in Homiletics. She also talks about the encouragement she got from her husband and kids.
