Background and purposeThe incidence of autonomic dysfunction is frequently underestimated and often overlooked in patients with autoimmune glial fibrillary acidic protein astrocytopathy (GFAP-A). This study comprehensively analyzes the clinical manifestations, laboratory and imaging findings, and treatment modalities for patients demonstrating GFAP-A involvement in the autonomic nervous system. The present article primarily elucidates the prevalence and prognosis of diverse autonomic system symptoms while examining the associated laboratory and imaging indicators. These findings aim to establish a foundation for personalized diagnosis and treatment strategies in such patients.MethodWe performed a retrospective data analysis from three cases of GFAP-A involvement in autonomic nerves from the Ninth People’s Hospital of Suzhou and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University from 2020 to 2023. After an extensive literature review, we identified 39 cases involving GFAP-A and autonomic nervous system dysfunction. We also comprehensively analyzed the patient’s clinical manifestations, laboratory biomarkers, and imaging findings.ResultThe study included a total of 42 patients, consisting of 15 females and 27 males. The primary manifestations of autonomic dysfunction included bladder dysfunction (41/42 cases), gastrointestinal dysfunction (18 /42 cases), heart rate variability (4/42 cases), unusual sweating (2/42 cases), and blood pressure fluctuations (1/42 cases). Other neurological symptoms comprised headache (12 /42 cases), limb weakness presentation (30/42 cases). Blood pressure variability is related to cerebrospinal fluid pressure and convulsive seizures. Heart rate variability is related to disorders of consciousness. unusual sweating was associated to age, gender, cerebrospinal fluid protein content and convulsive seizures. Gastrointestinal disorders have associations with gender, sleep disturbances, protein content in the cerebrospinal fluid, and brain MRI lesions. The prognosis of autonomic nerve dysfunction is associated to sleep disorder and cerebrospinal fluid protein content. The higher the cerebrospinal fluid protein level, the worse the prognosis of autonomic nervous system.ConclusionBladder dysfunction and gastrointestinal dysfunction are the primary manifestations of autonomic dysfunction in GFAP-A patients, with a subset also experiencing abnormalities in heart rate, blood pressure, and sweating. These additional symptoms have implications for prognosis, necessitating heightened attention from clinicians toward GFAP-A patients.

The extraction, isolation, purification, and structural characterization of proso millet bran polysaccharides (MBP), as well as its antibacterial activity were conducted to provide a reference for the development and utilization of nutrients in the processing byproducts of millet. An alkali extraction and alcohol precipitation method was used to extract the polysaccharides. Subsequent purification was achieved through column chromatography utilizing DEAE-50 and Sephadex G-100. Structural analysis of the millet bran polysaccharides was performed using a combination of techniques, including HPLC chromatography, infrared spectroscopy, atomic force microscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction. The results showed that the molecular weight of MBP was determined to be 3.479×104 Da. The monosaccharide composition was exhibited a molar ratio of mannose:rhamnose:glucose:galactose:arabinose:xylose=0.11:0.13:5.86:0.62:1.00:0.52. Moreover, MBP was identified as a β-type pyranose polysaccharide and exhibits remarkable thermal stability. In terms of morphology, MBP was laminated, closely connected, and had no crystal structure. The antibacterial assay unveiled the minimum inhibitory concentration of MBP against Staphylococcus aureus was 2 mg/mL. This study showed that the polysaccharides from proso millet bran had good antibacterial ability.

Based on the Guangzhou Business Center project, a typical super high-rise building with an asymmetric plan, taking the construction speed, closure time of mega braces and belt trusses as influencing factors, a parametric analysis on its lateral and vertical deformations, as well as the maximum stress of key structural members was conducted. The analysis results indicated that the construction speed had a relatively small impact on the deformation and the maximum stress of key members. However, synchronous closure of belt truss compared with the delayed closure would result in smaller horizontal and vertical deformation differences, as well as the stress of belt truss. Meanwhile, the closure timing of the mega braces had little influence on the vertical deformation difference and the stress of belt truss. And the earlier the closure, the smaller the horizontal drift ratio, the greater the maximum stress of the mega braces. Further, deformation control measurements were brought forward. On the one hand, FEM simulation was carried out according to the above construction suggestions. On the other hand, real-time monitoring was also used. Finally, by comparing both results, proposed construction deformation control measures and simulation methods were verified.

Carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) components were extensively used and current studies mainly refer to CFRP laminates. The dynamic performance of the complicated CFRP antenna beams is yet to be explored. Therefore, a sensor layout based on fiber Bragg gratings (FBGs) in series was designed to measure the dynamic response of the CFRP antenna beam, and various vibration tests (sweep frequency test, simulated long-life vibration test, shock vibration test, functional vibration test, and constant frequency vibration test) were conducted. The time and frequency domain analysis on FBG sensing signals was performed to check the vibration performance and assess the health condition of this novel CFRP structure. The results indicate that strain values reach a maximum of only 300 µε under different test conditions. The antenna beam exhibited clear vibration patterns, with the first four intrinsic frequencies identified at 44, 94.87, 107.1, and 193.45 Hz. It shows that strain distribution and vibration modes of the antenna beam can be characterized from the sensing data, and the dynamic feature can be much more accurately assessed. The FBG sensors attached on the surface of CFRP antenna beam can accurately and stably measure the dynamic response, which validates that the interfaces between optical fiber sensing elements and CFRP material have excellent interfacial bonding characteristics. The novel CFRP antenna beam exhibits the excellent dynamic performance and stability, offering the replacement of traditional steel antenna beams. The study can finally instruct the development of self-sensing CFRP antenna beams assembled with FBGs in series.

Human reliability analysis (HRA) is widely used to evaluate the impact of human errors on various complex human–machine systems for enhancing their safety and reliability. Nevertheless, it is hard to estimate the human error probability (HEP) in reality due to the uncertainty of state assessment information and the complex relations among common performance conditions (CPCs). In this paper, we aim to present a new integrated cognitive reliability and error analysis method (CREAM) to solve the HRA problems under probabilistic linguistic environment. First, the probabilistic linguistic term sets (PLTSs) are utilized to handle the uncertain task state assessments provided by experts. Second, the minimum conflict consensus model (MCCM) is employed to deal with conflict task state assessment information to assist experts reach consensus. Third, the entropy weighting method is used to determine the relative objective weights of CPCs. Additionally, the CPC effect indexes are introduced to assess the overall effect of CPCs on performance reliability and obtain the HEP estimation. Finally, the reliability of the proposed CREAM is demonstrated via a healthcare practical case. The result shows that the new integrated CREAM can not only effectively represent experts’ uncertain task state assessments but also determine more reliable HEP estimation in HRA.

Abstract Chronic wounds seriously affect the quality of life of the elderly, obese people, and diabetic patients. The excessive inflammatory response is a key driver of delayed chronic wound healing. Although lavender essential oil (EO [lav]) has been proven to have anti‐inflammatory and accelerate wound curative effects, the specific molecular mechanism involved is still ambiguous. The results showed that the wounds treated with lipopolysaccharide (LPS) not only had delayed healing, but also the expression levels of pro‐inflammatory cytokines, such as tumor necrosis factor‐α (TNF‐α), interleukin‐6 (IL‐6), interleukin‐1β (IL‐1β), and the inflammatory mediator protein, high‐mobility group box 1 protein (HMGB‐1), in the wound tissues were significantly increased. However, treatment of LPS‐induced chronic wounds with EO (lav) accelerated wound healing and decreased IL‐1β and HMGB‐1 expression levels. It was further found that LPS induced macrophage pyroptosis to produce IL‐1β. After treatment with EO (lav), the expression level of macrophage pyroptosis marker Gasdermin D (GSDMD) and pyroptosis‐related cytotoxic effects were significantly reduced. Immunofluorescence results also directly indicate that EO (lav) can protect macrophages from LPS‐induced pyroptosis. Moreover, EO (lav) can down‐regulate expression levels of IL‐1β, GSDMD, and nucleotide‐binding oligomerization domain‐like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) in the caspase‐11‐related pyroptotic signaling pathway. This study demonstrates that EO (lav) can reduce proinflammatory factor production and ameliorate inflammatory response by inhibiting macrophage pyroptosis, which accelerates LPS‐induced chronic wound healing.
