We present an isotropic ab initio (para − H 2 ) 4 four-body interaction potential energy surface (PES). The electronic structure calculations are performed at the correlated coupled-cluster theory level, with single, double, and perturbative triple excitations. They use an atom-centered augmented correlation-consistent double zeta basis set, supplemented by a (3 s 3 p 2 d) midbond function. We use a multilayer perceptron to construct the PES. We apply a rescaling transformation to the output energies during training to improve the prediction of weaker energies in the sample data. At long distances, the interaction energies are adjusted to match the empirically derived four-body dispersion interaction. The four-body interaction energy at short intermolecular separations is net repulsive. The use of this four-body PES, in combination with a first principles pair potential for para − H 2 [J. Chem. Phys. 119, 12551 (2015)] and an isotropic ab initio three-body potential for para − H 2 [J. Chem. Phys. 156, 044301 (2022)], is expected to provide closer agreement with experimental results. In this paper, the effects of hydrostatic stress on the magnetic properties of Mn-Zn power ferrites are discussed. Ring cores were embedded in cement and the curing process gradually exerted pressure on the core. A novel testing method was developed to continuously measure the power losses and the magnetic susceptibility in dependence on magnetic excitation at a fixed frequency and room temperature with a vector network analyzer. After 450 h, a maximum compressive stress of 120 MPa was reached. Power loss up to 300% was observed, while magnetic susceptibility dropped by 35%. The magneto-mechanical effect on core losses was simulated with the Hodgdon–Esguerra hysteresis model, showing excellent agreement with tested results, which allows us to predict the behavior of ferrite tiles embedded in load-bearing surfaces for wireless power transfer (WPT) applications. We describe a method to compute photon–matter interaction and atomic dynamics with x-ray lasers using a hybrid code based on classical molecular dynamics and collisional-radiative calculations. The forces between the atoms are dynamically determined based on changes to their electronic occupations and the formation of a free electron cloud created from the irradiation of photons in the x-ray spectrum. The rapid transition from neutral solid matter to dense plasma phase allows the use of screened potentials, reducing the number of non-bonded interactions. In combination with parallelization through domain decomposition, the hybrid code handles large-scale molecular dynamics and ionization. This method is applicable for large enough samples (solids, liquids, proteins, viruses, atomic clusters, and crystals) that, when exposed to an x-ray laser pulse, turn into a plasma in the first few femtoseconds of the interaction. We present four examples demonstrating the applicability of the method. We investigate the non-thermal heating and scattering of bulk water and damage-induced dynamics of a protein crystal using an x-ray pump–probe scheme. In both cases, we compare to the experimental data. For single particle imaging, we simulate the ultrafast dynamics of a methane cluster exposed to a femtosecond x-ray laser. In the context of coherent diffractive imaging, we study the fragmentation as given by an x-ray pump–probe setup to understand the evolution of radiation damage in the time range of hundreds of femtoseconds. This research provides a review of seated shot put alongside new data from the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games with the aim to understand the latest trends in equipment within a recently established rule set and how key equipment variables may impact performance for athletes in different classifications. First, a review of the literature found that the throwing pole is a key equipment aid that is not well understood, in part due to limitations in testing design. New data from the 2020 Paralympic Games showed inconsistent trends for the use of the throwing pole among athletes, particularly in transitionary classes (F33–34 and F54–55). A two-way analysis of variance found a main effect of classification on performance (p <.001), as well as an interaction effect between pole use and classification on performance (p <.05). Orthopedic and dental equipment have always been made of Ti and its alloys. In physiological saline solution, the corrosion behavior of the β-Ti alloy, as a possible replacement for Ti and Ti6Al4V in medical applications, was studied. In agreement with the EIS (electrochemical impedance spectroscopy), the PPCs (potentiodynamic polarization curves) findings, and the OCP (the open circuit potential), the specimens' resistance of corrosion declines in the next arrangement: β-Ti alloy > Ti6Al4V alloy > Ti in a physiological saline solution (PSS). Because of the thin layer of Ti oxide that forms on its surface, the β-Ti alloy is widely known for its ability to resist corrosion in dental applications. H2O2, a reactive oxygen species that is present during inflammation, and albumin, the most prevalent protein in biological fluids, were added to in vitro tests to stimulate peri-implant inflammatory conditions. Consequently, for the first time in PSS at 310 K, electrochemical and long-term immersion tests were utilized to assay the impact of BSA (bovine serum albumin) and H2O2 (hydrogen peroxide) on the β-Ti alloy corrosion. Because hydrogen peroxide has a high oxidizing effect, its existence increases the OCP's positive trend. The EIS and PPCs show that albumin suppresses both the cathodic reaction and the anodic dissolution, whereas hydrogen peroxide enhances both the cathodic and anodic reactions. Aloe striata Haw. (AS) is one of the beneficial Aloe species that is still underutilized. In this sense, phytochemical characterization, and biological investigation of AS gel protective efficacy against paracetamol (APAP) induced hepatic injury were evaluated in a mice model, with and without loading on chitosan nanoparticles (AS gel and CS-AS NPs, respectively). Spectrophotometric determination of AS gel showed high total soluble carbohydrate content representing 3.41±0.07 μg glucose equivalent (G eq)/mg and its protein content was 0.176±0.03 g/100 g. Twenty-two metabolites [sugars (90.23 %) and organic acids (5.80 %)] were determined by GC–MS, while 7 sugars were identified and quantified by HPLC where mannose (5679.73±4.28 μg) was the predominant. Chitosan gel nanoparticles were prepared and analyzed by dynamic light scattering, high resolution transmission electron microscopy, and X-ray diffraction methods. The CS-AS NPs were the most potent antioxidant of all tested samples with respect to quercetin in several in vitro antioxidant assays. Oxidative status, architectural or immuno-histochemical and histological signs in the context of the presence of caspase-3, c-Jun-N-terminal kinase (JNK), and extracellular signal-regulated kinase 1 (ERK-1) genes were evaluated in liver AS gel could significantly restore liver biochemical, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory activities and liver architecture. Moreover, caspase-3 contents, and ERK-1 and JNK genes expression were significantly downregulated compared to the APAP group. CS-AS NPs showed superior hepatoprotective activity than AS. CS-AS NPs hepatoprotective mechanisms could be attributed to its activation of antioxidant enzymes, and downregulation of malondialdehyde pro-inflammatory markers along with apoptosis and anti-inflammatory related genes (BAX, JNK, and ERK-1 genes). The growing concerns to accommodate large classroom sizes, lack of microteaching laboratory and inadequacy of time for every student to present and be properly assessed has affected the performance of students in microteaching in Nigeria. This therefore calls for different innovative approaches backed up by technology to ameliorate the problem. Thus, this study checked the comparative performance of undergraduate students in micro-teaching using Telegram and WhatsApp in collaborative learning settings in Gombe State, Nigeria. A sample of 282 students enrolled on Telegram and WhatsApp from Federal University Kashere and Gombe State University, respectively was purposively selected for the study. The two sampled groups were assigned into experimental group I (Telegram) and experimental group II (WhatsApp) in collaborative learning settings using a simple random sampling technique. The instruments for the study comprised of micro-teaching achievement test validated by experts in the field of educational technology and curriculum studies, where a split-half method of reliability was used to obtain a figure of 0.91 using Pearson product moment correlation. Descriptive statistics involving mean and standard deviation was used to answer the research questions while inferential statistics involving an independent sample t-test was used to test the null hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. Findings revealed that while the students in both Telegram and WhatsApp platforms performed better in the post-test, a significant difference was obtained in the achievement and retention of the two groups in favor of WhatsApp. It was therefore recommended that lecturers should deploy the use of Telegram and WhatsApp in collaborative learning settings to cover for large classroom sizes and lack of micro-teaching laboratory. This study examined the functionalization of graphene with easily ionizable elements, such as lithium, and subsequently its interaction with the biopolymer sodium alginate (SA), to highlight its potential for biomedical applications. Utilizing Density Functional Theory (DFT), the research comprehensively investigated the structural, electronic, and spectroscopic properties of these graphene-based composites. The electronic properties of functionalized graphene were investigated using DFT at the B3LYP/6-31G(d,p) level. Among the various configurations studied, graphene exhibited weak interaction with two lithium atoms, displaying the highest reactivity in terms of total dipole moment (TDM) at 5.967 Debye and a HOMO/LUMO energy gap (ΔE) of 0.748 eV. Electrostatic potential mapping revealed that graphene when enhanced with lithium and three units of SA, exhibited an augmented potential density on its surface, a finding corroborated by other investigated physical properties. Notably, the configuration of graphene/3SA/Li, with weak interaction occurring at two side carbons, demonstrated the highest reactivity with a TDM of 15.509 Debye and ΔE of 0.280 eV. Additionally, a shift in the spectral characteristics of graphene towards lower wavenumbers was observed as lithium and SA interacted with the graphene substrate. The PDOS plot for Graphene/3SA/Li, showed the highest contribution in the HOMO orbitals was equally from lithium, sodium, hydrogen, and oxygen, while the lowest contribution was from carbon. This computational analysis provides comprehensive insights into the functionalized graphene systems, aiding in their further development and optimization for practical biomedical use. Textile-toxic synthetic dyes, which possess complex aromatic structures, are emitted into wastewater from various branches. To address this issue, the adsorption process was applied as an attractive method for the removal of dye contaminants from water in this article. An unprecedented integrated experimental study has been carried out, accompanied by theoretical simulations at the DFT-B3LYP/6-31G (d,P) level of theory to investigate how single Maxilon Blue GRL (MxB) dye or and its mixture with MG (Malachite Green) dyes interact with the adsorbent and compare the obtained results with the data obtained through experimentation. The full geometry optimization revealed the physical adsorption of dyes on the Al2O3 surface. Non-linear optical properties (NLO) results emphasized that the complex MG-Al2O3-MxB is a highly promising material in photo-applications, and the adsorbed binary system is energetically more favorable compared to the adsorbed sole dye system. The experimental results for (MxB) dye adsorption onto γ-Al2O3 affirmed that the optimum conditions to get more than 98% uptake were at dye concentration 100 ppm, pH 10, adsorbent content 0.05 g, and equilibrium time only 20 min. The kinetic and isothermal studies revealed that the adsorption accepted with the pseudo-second-order and Freundlich isotherm model, respectively. The removal efficiency of the mixture of MxB and MG dyes was the highest but did not change clearly with increasing the % of any of them. Ultra-high-performance concrete (UHPC) has been used in building joints due to its increased strength, crack resistance, and durability, serving as a repair material. However, efficient repair depends on whether the interfacial substrate can provide adequate bond strength under various loading scenarios. The objective of this study is to investigate the bonding behavior of composite U-shaped normal strength concrete–ultra-high-performance fiber reinforced concrete (NSC-UHPFRC) specimens using multiple drop-weight impact testing techniques. The composite interface was treated using grooving (Gst), natural fracture (Nst), and smoothing (Sst) techniques. Ensemble machine learning (ML) algorithms comprising XGBoost and CatBoost, support vector machine (SVM), and generalized linear machine (GLM) were employed to train and test the simulation dataset to forecast the impact failure strength (N2) composite U-shaped NSC-UHPFRC specimen. The results indicate that the reference NSC samples had the highest impact strength and surface treatment played a substantial role in ensuring the adequate bond strength of NSC-UHPFRC. NSC-UHPFRC-Nst can provide sufficient bond strength at the interface, resulting in a monolithic structure that can resist repeated drop-weight impact loads. NSC-UHPFRC-Sst and NSC-UHPFRC-Gst exhibit significant reductions in impact strength properties. The ensemble ML correctly predicts the failure strength of the NSC-UHPFRC composite. The XGBoost ensemble model gave coefficient of determination (R2) values of approximately 0.99 and 0.9643 at the training and testing stages. The reduction kinetics of N,N′-phenylenebis(salicylideneiminato)iron(III), [Fe(salphen)]+ by thioglycolic acid (TSH) has been carried out in mixed aqueous medium (DMSO:H2O; 1:4) in pseudo-first order condition at 26 ± 1 °C. A CORNING colorimeter 253 was used to monitor the reaction rates by detecting the absorbance reduction of the reaction at 435 nm. The reaction was acid independent, second order overall and demonstrated zero Brønsted-Debye salt effect. Ions such as Mg2+ and CH3COO- catalyzed the reaction. The thermodynamic parameters indicated an activated complex that is much ordered and a highly solvated transition state. Reaction catalysis was observed in the case of sodium dodecylsulphate (SDS) and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) inclusion. The critical micelle concentrations obtained for SDS were 8.0 × 10−3 and 3.3 × 10−3 mol dm−3 whereas that observed for CTAB were 2.0 × 10−3 and 2.8 × 10−3 mol dm−3 in water and [Fe(salphen)]+ reaction media respectively. Piszkiewicz model was used to analyze the results which indicated the existence of pre-micellar aggregates and significant electrostatic and hydrophobic interactions between the metal complex and the pre-micellar aggregates of the surfactants. The cooperativity index and binding constants obtained were n = 1.22, K = 4.78 × 104 dm3 mol−1, n = 1.27 and K = 4.55 × 104 dm3 mol−1 respectively for SDS and CTAB. Background:Intractable rhinitis either due to allergic rhinitis or vasomotor rhinitis could affect patient lifestyle and quality of lifesurgical therapy is recommended if symptoms are not adequately controlled by medications. This study aims to examine the outcomes of posterior nasal neurectomy and surface coblation in order to alleviate the symptoms of intractable rhinorrhea. Patients and methods: This prospective non-randomized clinical study included 18 patients above age of 12 who have intractable rhinorrhea, not respond to medical treatment and admitted to ORL-HNS department, Zagazig University. Included patients were classified into two groups; the posterior nasal nerve(PNN) was excised endoscopically in the first group, while surface coblation was used to ablatethe posterior nasal nerve region in the second group. Results: There was significant improvement in rhinorrhea, sneezing, nasal obstruction, itching, smell and gustatory rhinorrhea after treatment in both group. Repeated measures of rhinorrhea, sneezing, nasal obstruction and itchingwere lower in the (PNN) section group compared to the surface coblation group but there was no statistically significant difference between both groups regarding repeated assessment for smell and gustatory rhinorrhea. Conclusion:Intractable rhinitis symptoms, especially rhinorrhea, sneezing and nasal obstruction, can be significantly relieved by either endoscopic resection of the posterior nasal nerve or endoscopic ablation of the posterior nasal nerve area using surface coblation. Although symptoms of both groups improved, the post-operative results of PNN section were better than surface coblation but the technique of surface coblation is simpler, safer and time saver. The concept, performance, and analyses of distinctive, miniaturized metamaterial (MTM) unit cell addressing the forthcoming Sub 6 GHz 5G applications are presented in this paper. Two circular split-ring resonators (CSRR) with two parallel rectangular copper elements in front of the design and a slotted square element in the background make up the suggested metamaterial. It has a line segment with tunable features that is positioned in the center of the little ring copper structure. The suggested design offers a significant operating frequency band of 220 MHz together with a resonance of transmission coefficient S21 at 3.5 GHz. Furthermore, in two (z & x) principal axes of wave propagation, wide-range achievement, single/double-negative (S/DNG) refractive index, negative permittivity, and near-zero permeability properties were demonstrated. Through varying central slotted-strip line length, resonance frequencies can be selectively altered. Moreover, the metamaterial has overall dimensions of 9 × 9 mm2 and is composed on a Rogers 5880 RT substrate. In order to create the suggested MTM's equivalent circuit, which shows similar coefficient of transmission (S21), a proposed design's numerical simulation is carried out in the CST micro-wave studio. Objective: Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) represents a bridge between the fields of psychiatry and cosmetic surgery. It is a psychiatric disorder involving altered body image and has been associated with cosmetic surgery. Many studies have investigated BDD following rhinoplasty. However, their findings were inconsistent, which prompted us to conduct this systematic review to obtain strong evidence about the prevalence of BDD among rhinoplasty candidates. Methods: We searched the literature using electronic databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and others using keywords relevant to the study outcomes. We also manually examined the references of the included studies and relevant reviews to look for articles that might have been missed during the electronic search. Results: Nine articles met the inclusion criteria. We identified 7 other relevant articles; since they had been included in a review conducted in 2016, they were not included in the final list of articles. However, they were included in the discussion, and their findings have been compared with ours. The included articles resulted in a total sample of 712 rhinoplasty candidates. The estimated prevalence rates of BDD in these articles ranged from 22% to 52%, which was considered high by all the authors of the included studies. Conclusion: The prevalence of BDD among rhinoplasty candidates is high, and adequate management and interventions are needed to reduce it. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abiotic stresses are the major constraint that limits the productivity of potatoes. Among all the major abiotic stresses, drought is the main stress that is increasing on a yearly basis. Therefore, the current field study was conducted to evaluate the morphological and yield characteristics of 29 potato genotypes. Plants were divided into control and drought stress groups, and plants were acclimatized to drought stress 45 days after sowing (DAS). The irrigation regime was maintained at 3-day interval for control group plants, while for the drought stress treatment, the field was irrigated at 6-day interval. Performance of potato plants was observed by measuring morpho-physiological and yield traits that included canopy temperature, chlorophyll contents, growth duration, plant height, stand establishment, and number of stems per plant. Finally, potato tuber traits were measured (number of tubers, tuber weight, and marketable tuber weight). All potato breeding lines showed contrasting behaviour in response to drought stress. Results showed that potato breeding lines 7, 9, 11, 20, 12, 16, 22, 21, 10, and 18 suggested tolerance as they showed the least reduction in yield characteristics, whereas genotypes 1, 26, 24, 4, 27, 6, 8, 29, 23, 26, 3, and 5 showed poor performance as they failed to cope with stress conditions. Broad sense heritability showed 77% variability that suggested decreased effect of environment on potato genotypes for the selection of high-yielding tubers. The resilient potato breeding lines showed the potential to be stably used as potato breeding material for stress tolerance. In this study, we studied the (2+1)-dimensional complex modified Korteweg-de Vries (cmKdV) system using the improved Ricatti equation method. cmKdV are nonlinear and coupled partial differential equations that arise in various fields of applied science and engineering, such as ferromagnetic materials and optical fibers. When the method is applied to cmKdV, we successfully derive exact soliton solutions that accurately describe the wave propagation behavior of the system under consideration. The obtained results include trigonometric and hyperbolic function solutions. The results obtained are concise and offer a deeper insight into the dynamics and characteristics of cmKdV. Traveling wave solitons are plotted in 2D and 3D to demonstrate the wave propagation phenomena in the cmKdV model, which are in the form of kink, bright, dark, singular solitons, and periodic solitary wave structures. The method recovers many solutions compared with the existing methods in the literature, indicating that the proposed method is a powerful and valuable approach for achieving analytical solutions to a wide range of nonlinear partial differential equations [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Salinity stress, an ever-present challenge in agriculture and environmental sciences, poses a formidable hurdle for plant growth and productivity in saline-prone regions worldwide. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the effectiveness of trehalose and mannitol induce salt resistance in wheat seedlings. Wheat grains of the commercial variety Sakha 94 were divided into three groups : a group that was pre-soaked in 10 mM trehalose, another group was soaked in 10 mM mannitol, and the last was soaked in distilled water for 1 hour, then the pre soaked grains cultivated in sandy soil, each treatment was divided into two groups, one of which was irrigated with 150 mM NaCl and the other was irrigated with tap water. The results showed that phenols content in wheat seedlings increased and flavonoids reduced due to salt stress. Trehalose and mannitol cause slight increase in total phenols content while total flavonoids were elevated highy in salt-stressed seedlings. Furthermore, Trehalose or mannitol reduced salt-induced lipid peroxidation. Salt stress increases antioxidant enzyme activities of guaiacol peroxidase (G-POX), ascorbate peroxidase (APX), and catalase (CAT) in wheat seedlings, while polyphenol oxidase (PPO) unchanged. Trehalose and mannitol treatments caused an increase in APX, and CAT activities, whereas G-POX not altered but PPO activity were decreased under salt stress conditions. Molecular docking confirmed the interaction of Trehalose or mannitol with peroxidase and ascorbic peroxidase enzymes. Phenyl alanine ammonia layase (PAL) activity was increased in salt-stressed seedlings. We can conclude that pre-soaking of wheat grains in 10 mM trehalose or mannitol improves salinity stress tolerance by enhancing antioxidant defense enzyme and/or phenol biosynthesis, with docking identifying interactions with G-POX, CAT, APX, and PPO. Background: Palliative care schemes, which include pain management, symptom control, psychosocial support and rehabilitation, aim to boost patients' quality of life, ease the burden and anxiety of informal caregivers, and ultimately provide a comprehensive approach to enhance well-being during this challenging and sensitive period. This study aims to evaluate the impact of a comprehensive rehabilitation palliative care program on the quality of life of patients with terminal cancer and their informal caregivers. Methods: This quasi-experimental study, conducted from August 2023 to January 2024 at outpatient clinics affiliated with the Oncology Center at Mansoura University, Egypt, focused on cancer patients and their caregivers in the palliative care department. Employing pre- and post-test phases, data were gathered using a questionnaire, EORTC QLQ C30, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, Short Form Health Survey, Caregiver Burden Inventory, and Beck Anxiety Inventory. The investigation evaluated a 16-week rehabilitation program comprising exercise, psychoeducation, individual counselling, and spiritual support. Exercises, led by a physiotherapist, targeted fatigue and stress through tailored aerobic and resistance training. Psychoeducation sessions aimed to bolster coping abilities, covering fatigue management and nutrition. Trained counsellors addressed spiritual and existential concerns. Personal advisory sessions were available for individual support. Caregivers received education on rehabilitation and palliative care protocols, ensuring comprehensive patient care. Results: The mean age for cancer patients was 65.79 ± 13.85. In contrast, the mean age for primary carers was 42.05 ± 11.15. The QOL for cancer patients during the pre-test phase was 77.8 ± 7.16 and rose to 87.34 ± 14.56 during the post-test phase. Additionally, the total anxiety level of patients before the rehabilitation palliative care program was conducted was 15.45 ± 3.05 compared to 6.12 ± 3.21 after the post test phase. Furthermore, the total depression levels of the patients during the pre-test phase were 20.89 ± 9.21. However, after implementing the rehabilitation palliative care program, it decreased to 15.5 ± 6.86. In regards to the total quality of life of informal caregivers, it was measured at 67.28 ± 32.09 before conducting the program. Nevertheless, it increased to 25.95 ± 40.29 after conducting it. Additionally, the total Caregiver Burden Inventory before implementing the program was 37.45 ± 25.7, and it decreased to 29.36 ± 16.4 after conducting it. Additionally, the total score on the Beck Anxiety Inventory decreased from 45.7 ± 4.3 during the initial testing phase to 17.35 ± 23.67. Conclusion: The program for rehabilitation palliative care successfully achieved its goals by enhancing the overall quality of life for cancer patients and their caregivers. Additionally, it reduced the anxiety and depression levels among the patients, as well as the anxiety and caregiver burden among the caregivers. Background: To investigate the predictable parameters associated with downgrading in patients with a Gleason score (GS) 8 (4+4) in prostate biopsy after radical prostatectomy. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 62 patients with a GS of 4+4 on prostate biopsy who underwent robotic radical prostatectomy between 2017 and 2022. Results: 38 of 62 (61.2%) were downgraded. In multivariable logistic regression model, Ga-68 prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) positron-emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) SUV max was independent predictor of downgrading (OR 0.904; p = 0.011) and a Logistic Regression model was constructed using the following formula: Y = 1.465–0.95 (PSMA PET/CT SUV max). The model using this variable correctly predicted the downgrading in 72.6% of patients. The AUC for PSMA PET/CT SUV max was 0.709 the cut off being 8.8. A subgroup analysis was performed in 37 patients who had no other European Association of Urology (EAU) high risk features. 25 out of 37 (67.5%) were downgraded, and 21 of these 25 had organ confined disease. Low PSMA SUV max (<8.1) and percentage of GS 4+4 biopsy cores to cancer bearing cores (45.0%) were independently associated with downgrading to GS 7. Conclusion: PSMA PET/CT can be used to predict downgrading in patients with GS 4+4 PCa. Patients with GS 4+4 disease, but no other EAU high risk features, low percentage of GS 4+4 biopsy cores to cancer bearing cores, and a low PSMA PET/CT SUV max are associated with a high likelihood of the cancer reclassification to intermediate risk group. Aim. To explore the mediating effect of psychological empowerment in the association between transformational leadership and organizational citizenship behaviors in nursing context. Background. Healthcare organizations worldwide are facing unprecedented challenges, necessitating effective leadership strategies to ensure quality patient care and organizational success. Transformational leadership has emerged as a tool to promote positive workplace behaviors, including organizational citizenship behaviors, among nursing staff. However, the mediating role of psychological empowerment in this relationship remains underexplored. Methods. A cross-sectional survey was conducted from March 2023 until August 2023 involving 305 registered nurses at King Khalid Hospital to investigate the relationship among transformational leadership, psychological empowerment, and organizational citizenship behaviors. Validated scales were used to assess these variables. A single mediation analysis was conducted through processing macro version 3.5 model 4. Results. This study found a strong positive association between transformational leadership and both psychological empowerment (r = 0.507, p < 0.001) and organizational citizenship behaviors (r = 0.445, p < 0.001) among nursing staff. Additionally, psychological empowerment partially mediated the relationship between transformational leadership and organizational citizenship behaviors, with a significant indirect effect (B = 0.110, CI: 0.058–0.166). Conclusions. Transformational leadership positively impacted nurses' feelings of empowerment, which then led to higher exhibition of organizational citizenship behaviors. Leadership development programs should prioritize the cultivation of transformational leadership qualities and support the psychological empowerment of nursing staff. Oxidative stress, caused by an excessive amount of reactive oxygen species is a major factor in the pathophysiology of complications following traumatic brain injury (TBI). Ascorbic acid, a vital antioxidant, has been employed in TBI therapy, but its instability, limited bioavailability, rapid oxidation, and pro-oxidant effects pose significant limitations. To overcome these drawbacks, the ascorbic acid was chemically modified resulting in a fat-soluble L-ascorbyl-6-palmitate. The effects of L-ascorbyl-6-palmitate on oxidative stress biomarkers in TBI rats were subsequently evaluated. TBI was developed in rats by a weight drop method. The study involved five experimental groups: ascorbic acid group, L-ascorbyl-6- palmitate group, dimethyl sulfoxide group, traumatized non-treated group, and non-traumatized non-treated control group. A total of twenty-five rats were used in the experiment, with five rats in each group (n=5). The levels of malondialdehyde and the activity of antioxidant enzymes such as glutathione peroxidase, catalase, and superoxide dismutase were assessed in serum and brain tissue samples. In both serum and brain tissue, ascorbic acid, L-ascorbyl-6-palmitate, and dimethyl sulfoxide showed significant (P<0.05) elevation in enzyme activities and reduction in malondialdehyde levels compared to the traumatized non-treated group. Additionally, L-ascorbyl-6-palmitate treatment demonstrated higher antioxidant potential and scavenging ability than ascorbic acid treatment, as evidenced by significantly (P<0.05) increased superoxide dismutase, catalase, and glutathione peroxidase activities, and reduced malondialdehyde levels. These findings demonstrate the neuroprotective effects of Lascorbyl-6-palmitate in managing TBI-induced oxidative stress. Further studies should investigate the underlying molecular mechanisms and longterm effects of L-ascorbyl-6-palmitate treatment on neurological recovery and functional outcomes in TBI, as well as explore its potential synergistic effects with other antioxidants or neuroprotective strategies. Worldwide, cardiovascular disease is the main cause of death, which accordingly increased by hyperlipidemia. Hyperlipidemia therapy can include lifestyle changes and medications to control cholesterol levels. Statins are the medications of the first choice for dealing with lipid abnormalities. Rosuvastatin founds to control high lipid levels by hindering liver production of cholesterol and to achieve the targeted levels of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, another lipid lowering agents named ezetimibe may be used as an added therapy. Both rosuvastatin and ezetimibe have low bioavailability which will stand as barrier to decrease cholesterol levels, because of such depictions, formulations of this combined therapy in nanotechnology will be of a great assistance. Our study demonstrated preparations of nanoparticles of this combined therapy, showing their physical characterizations, and examined their behavior in laboratory conditions and vivo habitation. The mean particle size was uniform, polydispersity index and zeta potential of formulations were found to be in the ranges of (0.181-0.72) and (-13.4 to -6.24), respectively. Acceptable limits of entrapment efficiency were affirmed with appearance of spherical and uniform nanoparticles. In vitro testing showed a sustained release of drug exceeded 90% over 24 h. In vivo study revealed an enhanced dissolution and bioavailability from loaded nanoparticles, which was evidenced by calculated pharmacokinetic parameters using triton for hyperlipidemia induction. Stability studies were performed and assured that the formulations are kept the same up to one month. Background: The accumulation of fat in the pancreas has greater clinical significance. It is unclear, though, how much the intermediate variables influence the fat deposition in these depots. This study aimed to determine the relation of pancreatic steatosis to Diabetes Mellitus, Acute Pancreatitis and Pancreatic Cancer. Methods: This case-control study was conducted on fifty patients for pancreatic diseases in internal medicine department at Zagazig University Hospitals, equally divided into five groups; group I: 10 cases as a control group, group II: with fatty pancreas (FP), group III: with acute pancreatitis (AP), group IV: with Diabetes Mellitus (DM) and case group V: with pancreatic cancer (PC). Patients were subjected to full medical history, physical examination, laboratory investigations, and non-contrast Computed Tomography (CT). Results: Age and males were significant increased in group V (PValue= 0.003 and P=0.019 respectively). Body Mass Index (BMI) (P=0.001) and females (P=0.006) were higher among fatty pancreas patients. Pancreatic steatosis diagnosed by CT in FP representing 100%, in acute pancreatitis 60%, DM 80% and PC 70% of patients, and it was worse in FP group as 40% ware grade 4 (P <0.001). Fatty liver diagnosed by CT in 100% of FP patients, 70% in AP and DM groups and 60% in PC group and was worse in FP group as 80% grade 3 (P <0.001). grades of fatty liver and Low-Density Lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol significantly independently associated with fatty pancreas (P<0.001). High lipids, diabetes and grades of fatty liver were significantly associated with fatty pancreas (P<0.001) and LDL and fatty liver are independent risk factors (P<0.001). The pH-dependent change in protonation of ionizable lipids is crucial for the success of lipid-based nanoparticles as mRNA delivery systems. Despite their widespread application in vaccines, the structural changes upon acidification are not well understood. Molecular dynamics simulations support structure prediction but require an a priori knowledge of the lipid packing and protonation degree. The presetting of the protonation degree is a challenging task in the case of ionizable lipids since it depends on pH and on the local lipid environment and often lacks experimental validation. Here, we introduce a methodology of combining all-atom molecular dynamics simulations with experimental total-reflection x-ray fluorescence and scattering measurements for the ionizable lipid Dlin-MC3-DMA (MC3) in POPC monolayers. This joint approach allows us to simultaneously determine the lipid packing and the protonation degree of MC3. This study investigated the synthesis of bimetallic core-shape Ni-Zn nanoparticles using Ficus exasperate leaf extract. The incorporated bimetallic Ni-Zn nanoparticles were applied for the removal of anthraquinone dye from an aqueous solution using various adsorption parameters such as adsorbate concentration, contact time, pH, temperature, and adsorbent dosage. The presence of biomolecule compounds in the aqueous extract of Ficus exasperata was confirmed by a UV-visible spectrophotometer (UV) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FT-IR) Spectrometer. A High-Resolution Transmission Electron Spectrometer revealed a spherical shape whose diameter ranged between 10.67- 30.73 nm with an average particle size of 17.42 nm. The maximum adsorption capacity for Langmuir isotherm (qm) was found to be 50.08 mg/g with R2 of 0.9994 proving the adsorption isotherm best fit for Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The Pseudo second-order kinetic model best fitted the adsorption process. The results of Gibbs free energy ( Δ G °) and enthalpy change ( Δ H °) of the adsorption of anthraquinone dye are − 81.48 J/mol/K and −26 kJ/mol indicating a spontaneous and exothermic reaction. The regeneration of the green synthesized Ni-Zn nanoparticles up to the fifth removal cycle at 48.08 mg/g revealed excellent results for the removal of anthraquinone dye from an aqueous solution. The obtained results showed that green synthesized core-shape Ni-Zn nanoparticles are excellent and eco-friendly biomaterials for the removal of anthraquinone dye from an aqueous solution. Background: Extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) is an alternative method for patients with reversible causes of cardiac arrest (CA) after conventional cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CCPR). However, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) duration during ECPR can vary due to multiple factors. Healthcare providers need to understand these factors to optimize the resuscitation process and improve outcomes. The aim of this study was to examine the different variables impacting the duration of CPR in patients undergoing ECPR. Methods: This retrospective, single-center, observational study was conducted on adult patients who underwent ECPR due to in-hospital CA (IHCA) or out-of-hospital CA (OHCA) at Hamad General Hospital (HGH), the tertiary governmental hospital of Qatar, between February 2016 and March 2020. Univariate and multivariate binary logistic regression analyses were performed to identify the prognostic factors associated with CPR duration, including demographic and clinical variables, as well as laboratory tests. Results: The mean ± standard division age of the 48 participants who underwent ECPR was 41.50 ± 13.15 years, and 75% being male. OHCA and IHCA were reported in 77.1% and 22.9% of the cases, respectively. The multivariate analysis revealed that several factors were significantly associated with an increased CPR duration: higher age (OR: 1.981, 95%CI: 1.021–3.364, P = 0.025), SOFA score (OR: 3.389, 95%CI: 1.289–4.911, P = 0.013), presence of comorbidities (OR: 3.715, 95%CI: 1.907–5.219, P = 0.026), OHCA (OR: 3.715, 95%CI: 1.907–5.219, P = 0.026), and prolonged collapse-to-CPR time (OR: 1.446, 95%CI:1.092–3.014, P = 0.001). Additionally, the study found that the initial shockable rhythm was inversely associated with the duration of CPR (OR: 0.271, 95%CI: 0.161–0.922, P = 0.045). However, no significant associations were found between laboratory tests and CPR duration. Conclusion: These findings suggest that age, SOFA score, comorbidities, OHCA, collapse-to-CPR time, and initial shockable rhythm are important factors influencing the duration of CPR in patients undergoing ECPR. Understanding these factors can help healthcare providers better predict and manage CPR duration, potentially improving patient outcomes. AbstractInflammatory cascades of the dysregulated inflammatory pathways in COVID-19 can cause excessive production of pro-inflammatory cytokines and chemokines leading to cytokine storm syndrome (CSS). The molecular cascades involved in the pathways may be targeted for discovery of new anti-inflammatory agents. Many plant extracts have been used clinically in the management of COVID-19, however, their immunosuppressive activities were mainly investigated based on in silico activity. Dietary flavonoids of the extracts such as quercetin, luteolin, kaempferol, naringenin, isorhamnetin, baicalein, wogonin, and rutin were commonly identified as responsible for their inhibitory effects. The present review critically analyzes the anti-inflammatory effects and mechanisms of phytochemicals, including dietary compounds against cytokine storm (CS) and hyperinflammation via inhibition of the altered inflammatory pathways triggered by SARS-CoV-2, published since the emergence of COVID-19 in December 2019. Only a few phytochemicals, mainly dietary compounds such as nanocurcumin, melatonin, quercetin, 6-shagoal, kaempferol, resveratrol, andrographolide, and colchicine have been investigated either in in silico or preliminary clinical studies to evaluate their anti-inflammatory effects against COVID-19. Sufficient pre-clinical studies on safety and efficacy of anti-inflammatory effects of the phytochemicals must be performed prior to proper clinical studies to develop them into therapeutic adjuvants in the prevention and treatmemt of COVID-19 symptoms. Background: A complete blood count (CBC) analysis is one of the most common conventional blood tests that physicians frequently prescribe. The objective: of this study was to determine the reference intervals (RIs) of CBC parameters in the population of healthy adults living in the western Sudan region. Methods: A cross-sectional study of healthy people residing in the western area of Sudan was carried out. We assessed the CBC RIs in samples taken from 153 individuals using an automated haematology analyser (Sysmex KX-21) and a modified Box–Cox transformation procedure to transform the data into a Gaussian distribution after eliminating outliers using the Dixon method. IBM SPSS Statistics version 25 was used to analyse the data, and t tests were employed to examine variations in the mean CBC parameters according to sex and age. P was considered significant at ≤ 0.05. Results: Beyond all the other measured values, the only CBC parameters that significantly differed between the sexes were haemoglobin (HGB) and white blood cell (WBC) counts. Women were found to experience more WBC counts than men did. However, they have less HGB RIs.The male participants in our study exhibited lower WBC count RIs, a significantly lower limit, and a greater upper limit of platelet RIs than did the individuals from other nations. Introduction: Sleep disturbances are common among older adults and can have detrimental effects on their overall well-being. Tai Chi exercise has shown promise in improving sleep quality, quality of life (QoL), and psychological well-being in various populations. Objective: To investigate the effect of a home-based simplified Tai Chi exercise program on sleep quality, daytime sleepiness, QoL, and psychological well-being in Egyptian older adults. Methods: A quasi-experimental design was employed, with 152 participants aged 60 years and above assigned to either an experimental group (n = 87) or a control group (n = 65). Thecontrol group received a health education program to improve their sleeping quality and life-style, while the experimental group received a similar health education program and Tai Chi exercise training program. The participants in the experimental group were instructed to perform 3 months Tai Chi exercise. Data on sleep quality, daytime sleepiness, QoL, generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), and depression symptoms were collected at baseline, and one month, and 3 months post-intervention using validated questionnaires. Repeated measures ANOVA was done to investigate the effectiveness of the intervention programsover 3 time periods. Results: The results showed significant improvements in sleep quality (p <.001), QoL (p <.005), GAD (p <.005), and depression symptoms (p <.005) post-interventions. Also, there were significant difference in the effectiveness of the intervention programs between both the experimental and control groups. The experimental group exhibited greater improvements compared to the control group. Conclusion: The findings support the beneficial effects of a home-based simplified Tai Chi exercise program on sleep quality, QoL, and psychological well-being in Egyptian older adults. These results have important implications for promoting healthy aging and improving overall well-being in this population. The importance of using ANN in popular and large‐scale fields such as environmental pollution studies is known. Studies are carried out considering the need to develop ANNs, which can be an alternative to the data obtained as a result of the analyses made with instrumental devices that require high costs and trained human labor. This study, which was carried out using real data and samples showing biomonitoring properties such as soil and plants, is an example to fill the gaps in the literature. In this study, tools that can model both linear and nonlinear relationships were used. The simulation of the dynamic ecological system containing Fe, Mn, and Ni heavy metals was carried out from the point of view of artificial intelligence. Typhoid fever remains a major public health concern, affecting over nine million individuals globally each year. Mathematical modeling approaches can provide valuable insights into typhoid transmission dynamics and inform preventive strategies. In this study, we developed a compartmental model incorporating key features of typhoid epidemiology and two crucial interventions: vaccination and sanitation practices. The model stratifies the population into susceptible, vaccinated, exposed, asymptomatic infected, symptomatic infected, and recovered compartments and tracks the bacterial load in the environment. We established a disease-free equilibrium and basic reproduction number R0. We also identified the endemic equilibrium and analyzed its existence. Numerical simulations demonstrated the critical impact of enhanced sanitation and vaccination in curtailing infections. Our model underscores the need for multifaceted control measures that encompass vaccine coverage, sanitation enforcement, and healthcare capacity building to mitigate typhoid in high-risk regions. Background: The kidneys manage body fluids and electrolytes in addition to performing osmoregulation and metabolic waste disposal. The goal of the present study was to investigate the structural characteristics of the kidneys of two tetrapod species; Ptychadena mascarenensis (Mascarene frog) and Chalcides ocellatus ocellatus (Ocellated skink) concerning their habitat, which could be linked to unique structural renal differences. Methods: During December 2020, four specimens of each species were obtained from various locations in Egypt. The animals were captured alive and were suffocated by inhaling chloroform. There kidneys were removed and processed for morphological, histological and electron microscopy examinations. Result: Ptychadena mascarenensis and Chalcides ocellatus ocellatus have groups of nephrons in their kidneys and each nephron consists of a renal corpuscle, an intermediate segment, a proximal tubule, a distal tubule and a collecting duct system. The renal corpuscles and tubules were dispersed throughout the cortex and medulla of both species so the cortex and medulla were not differentiated. In the two tetrapod classes Amphibia (Ptychadena mascareniensis) and Reptilia (Chalcides ocellatus ocellatus), some differences in the morphological, histological and ultrastructural features of the kidney have been identified.
