National audience; This article is the first step of a complex process of measuring fine particle concentrations by spectral cameras. To do this, an accurate and fast classification of all pixels from a hyperspectral image is crucial to determine the nature of the objects and their optical properties. The methods traditionally used rely on the richness of the spectral information in measurements with hundreds of wavelengths. However, neglecting the spatial dimension during the classification can lead to situations where the resulting classes may not be spatially consistent. Here, we propose a classification method (Spatial Spectral Optimised Classification) based on learning, which takes into account spectral features but also spatial information via neighbouring pixels.; Cet article est la première étape d'un processus complexe de mesure de la concentration de particules fines par des caméras spectrales. Pour ce faire, une classification précise et rapide de tous les pixels d'une image hyperspectrale est cruciale pour déterminer la nature des objets et leurs propriétés optiques. Les méthodes traditionnellement utilisées reposent sur la richesse de l'information spectrale avec des centaines de longueurs d'onde habituellement mesurées par les caméras. Cependant, négliger la dimension spatiale durant une classification conduit à certaines situations où les classes obtenues ne sont pas spatialement cohérentes. Nous proposons ici une méthode de classification optimisée pour la mesure de la qualité de l'air (Spatial Spectral Optimised Classification) basée sur l'apprentissage, qui prend en compte les caractéristiques spectrales mais aussi l'information spatiale via les pixels voisins.

International audience; he HYEP project (ANR HYEP 14-CE22-0016-01 Hyperspectral imagery for Environmental urban Planning - Mobility and Urban Systems Programme - 2014) confirmed the interest of a global approach to the urban environment by remote sensing and in particular by using hyperspectral imaging (HI). The interest of hyperspectral images lies in the range of information provided over wavelengths from 0.4 to 4 μm; they thus provide access to spectral quantities of interest and to chemical or biophysical parameters of the surface. HYEP's objective was to specify this and to propose a panel of methods and treatments taking into account the characteristics of other existing sensors in order to compare their performance. The developments carried out were applied and evaluated on hyperspectral airborne images acquired in Toulouse and Kaunas (Lithuania), also used to synthesize space systems: Sentinel-2, Hypxim/Biodiversity and Pleiades. Among the locks identified were those related to improving the spatial capabilities of the sensors and spatial scale changes, which were partially overcome by fusion and sharpening approaches, which proved to be successful. After a description of our hyperspectral data set acquired over Toulouse, an analysis is conducted on several existing and accessible spectral databases. Then, the chosen methods are presented. They include extraction, fusion and classification methods, which are then applied on our dataset synthetized at different spatial resolution to evaluate the benefits and the complementarity of hyperspectral imagery in comparison with other traditional sensors. Some specific applications are investigated of interest for urban planners: impervious soil map, vegetation species cartography and detection of solar panels. L’intérêt des images hyperspectrales réside dans la gamme d’informations fournies sur des longueurs d’onde de 0,4 à 4 μm ; elles fournissent ainsi un accès aux grandeurs spectrales d'intérêt et aux paramètres chimiques ou biophysiques de la surface. HYEP avait pour objectif de préciser ceci et de proposer un panel de méthodes et de traitements en tenant compte des caractéristiques des autres capteurs existants afin d’en comparer les performances. Les développements réalisés ont été appliqués et évalués sur des images aéroportées hyperspectrales acquises sur Toulouse (France) et Kaunas (Lituania), utilisées également pour synthétiser des systèmes spatiaux : Sentinel-2, Hypxim/Biodiversity et Pleiades. Parmi les verrous identifiés, ceux liés à l'amélioration des capacités spatiales des capteurs et aux changements d’échelle spatiale ont été en partie levés par des approches de fusion, qui se sont avérées concluantes. Des méthodes d’extraction, de fusion ou de classification ont été appliquées à différentes résolutions spatiales afin de qualifier les gains et la complémentarité de l’IH par rapport à d’autres capteurs. Ces évaluations ont ainsi porté sur des « objets » d’intérêt pour les gestionnaires et aménageurs du milieu urbain : les surfaces imperméables, la végétation ou encore la détection de panneaux solaires.

We consider an image in which every pixel n is defined by a vector y(n) of dimension m, containing m observations of a varying quantity. This variable is measured sequentially and could be the spectrum of light (e.g., hyperspectral images), time (i.e., a video), different angles of acquisition etc. For example, a RGB image is composed of three (i.e., m = 3) channels adjacent in the spectral domain ranging from approximatively red to blue wavelengths. It is often meaningful to express this vector as a linear combination of the compact form as: Y = X*A where Y, X and A are of dimension m×n, m×p and p×n. It is clear that with this writing, the exact position of pixels is not taken into account, nor is the order of the measured values. Even the size of the image is not explicit; if the image is n1×n2, only the product n=n1*n2 indeed appears. More importantly, if pixels and measured variables are permuted, rows of X and columns of A are permuted accordingly. One of the goals of this research topic is to fix these indeterminacies, because permutations are relevant (i.e., the position of pixels and sequential order of values are meaningful features). At least two attempts can be found in the literature. This idea has started to be investigated in the framework of the internship of M. Jouni (supervised by M. Dalla Mura and P. Comon) during the summer 2017 at Gipsa-Lab. Extensions: - For the sake of simplicity, this description has been made for images in 2D, that is, for data depending on two variables, but this extends to a larger number of variables; - Optimization criteria can include penalties aiming at imposing a desired structure on factor matrices (sparsity, spatial regularization, . . . ); - When several data arrays are given and are related in some partially known way, we are facing a particular fusion problem that can also be addressed via tensor tools., Nous considérons une image dans laquelle chaque pixel n est défini par un vecteur y(n) de dimension m, contenant m observations d'une quantité variable. International audience; Hyperspectral unmixing is a widely studied field of research aiming at estimating the pure material signatures and their abundance fractions from hyperspectral images. Most spectral unmixing methods are based on prior knowledge and assumptions that induce limitations, such as the existence of at least one pure pixel for each material. This work presents a new approach aiming to overcome some of these limitations by introducing a co-registered panchromatic image in the unmixing process. Our method, called Heterogeneity-Based Endmember Extraction coupled with Local Constrained Non-negative Matrix Factorization (HBEE-LCNMF), has several steps: a first set of endmembers is estimated based on a heterogeneity criterion applied on the panchromatic image followed by a spectral clustering. Then, in order to complete this first endmember set, a local approach using a constrained non-negative matrix factorization strategy, is proposed. The performance of our method, in regards of several criteria, is compared to those of state-of-the-art methods obtained on synthetic and satellite data describing urban and periurban scenes, and considering the French HYPXIM/HYPEX2 mission characteristics. The synthetic images are built with real spectral reflectances and do not contain a pure pixel for each endmember. The satellite images are simulated from airborne acquisition with the spatial and spectral features of the mission. Our method demonstrates the benefit of a panchromatic image to reduce some well-known limitations in unmixing hyperspectral data. On synthetic data, our method reduces the spectral angle between the endmembers and the real material spectra by 46% compared to the Vertex Component Analysis (VCA) and N-finder (N-FINDR) methods. On real data, HBEE-LCNMF and other methods yield equivalent performance, but, the proposed method shows more robustness over the data sets compared to the tested state-of-the-art methods. Moreover, HBEE-LCNMF does not require one to know the number of endmembers.; Le démixage hyperspectral est un domaine de recherche largement étudié visant à estimer les signatures de matériaux purs et leurs fractions d'abondance à partir d'images hyperspectrales. The detection of plant diseases, including fungi, is a major challenge for reducing yield gaps of crops across the world. We explored the potential of the PROCOSINE radiative transfer model to assess the effect of the fungus Pseudocercospora fijiensis on leaf tissues using laboratory-acquired submillimetre-scale hyperspectral images in the visible and near-infrared spectral range. The objectives were (i) to assess the dynamics of leaf biochemical and biophysical parameters estimated using PROCOSINE inversion as a function of the disease stages, and (ii) to discriminate the disease stages by using a Linear Discriminant Analysis model built from the inversion results. The inversion results show that most of the parameter dynamics are consistent with expectations: for example, the chlorophyll content progressively decreased as the disease spreads, and the brown pigments content increased. An overall accuracy of 78.7% was obtained for the discrimination of the six disease stages, with errors mainly occurring between asymptomatic samples and first visible disease stages. PROCOSINE inversion provides relevant ecophysiological information to better understand how P. fijiensis affects the leaf at each disease stage. More particularly, the results suggest that monitoring anthocyanins may be critical for the early detection of this disease.

This thesis deals with the development of new blind separation methods for linear instantaneous mixtures applicable to astrophysical hyperspectral data sets. We propose three approaches to perform data separation. A first contribution is based on hybridization of two existing blind source separation (BSS) methods: the SpaceCORR method, requiring a sparsity assumption, and a non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) method. We show that using SpaceCORR results to initialize the NMF improves the performance of the methods used alone. We then proposed a first original method to relax the sparsity constraint of SpaceCORR. The method called MASS (Maximum Angle Source Separation) is a geometric method based on the extraction of single-source pixels to achieve the separation of data. We also studied the hybridization of MASS with the NMF. Finally, we proposed an approach to relax the sparsity constraint of SpaceCORR. The original method called SIBIS (Subspace-Intersection Blind Identification and Separation) is a geometric method based on the identification of intersections of subspaces generated by regions of the hyperspectral image. Under a sparsity assumption, these intersections allow one to achieve the separation of the data. The approaches proposed in this manuscript have been validated by experimentations on simulated data and then applied to real data. The results obtained on our data are very encouraging and are compared with those obtained by methods from the literature.; Ces travaux de thèse concernent le développement de nouvelles méthodes de séparation aveugle de mélanges linéaires instantanés pour des applications à des données hyperspectrales en astrophysique. Nous avons proposé trois approches pour effectuer la séparation des données. Une première contribution est fondée sur l'hybridation de deux méthodes existantes de séparation aveugle de source (SAS) : la méthode SpaceCORR nécessitant une hypothèse de parcimonie et une méthode de factorisation en matrices non négatives (NMF). Nous montrons que l'utilisation des résultats de SpaceCORR pour initialiser la NMF permet d'améliorer les performances des méthodes utilisées seules. National audience; Les services écosystémiques sont devenus un enjeu social, écologique et économique majeur dans le monde. Les forêts des paysages agricoles offrent des services précieux bien qu'ils soient souvent sous-estimés et mal utilisés. Cependant, une cartographie précise de ces services à grande échelle reste difficile. Des données de télédétection permettent aujourd’hui d’envisager cette cartographie. Nous avons évalué la contribution des indices de végétation calculés à partir d'images hyperspectrales à haute résolution spatiale pour la prévision de services écosystémiques par rapport aux résultats fondées sur la couverture terrestre. 28 parcelles forestières ont été échantillonnées et des images hyperspectrales aéroportées ont été acquises pour la zone d'étude, à une résolution de 2 m. Habituellement, les indices de végétation dérivés de l'hyperspectral à l’échelle du paysage (buffer spatial autour de l’objet considéré) sont réduits en utilisant des statistiques descriptives (moyenne, écart-type, valeurs minimales et maximales). Cependant, cette approche peut perdre beaucoup d'informations, en particulier à l'échelle des paysages, où plusieurs objets avec différentes signatures spectrales sont présents. Nous proposons une description du paysage hyperspectral basée sur la répartition complète des indices de végétation à travers les paysages. Nous avons utilisé les modèles de mélange gaussien (GMM) pour modéliser la distribution des pixels dans chaque paysage et introduit une distance L2 entre ces mélanges. Cette distance est utilisée dans l’algorithme des plus proches voisins pour prédire les niveaux de services. La qualité des prédictions a été comparée entre trois représentations de paysage: occupation des sols, statistiques descriptives de données hyperspectrales et description de données hyperspectrales basées sur GMM.

This PhD thesis aims at investigating the possibility to detect landmines using hyperspectral imaging. Using this technology, we are able to acquire at each pixel of the image spectral data in hundreds of wavelengths. So, at each pixel we obtain a reflectance spectrum that is used as fingerprint to identify the materials in each pixel, and mainly in our project help us to detect the presence of landmines.This technology has advantages over the actually used techniques: • It is safer because it limits the need of humans in the searching process and gives the opportunity to the demining team to detect the mines while they are in a safe region. • It is faster. A larger area could be cleared in a single day by comparison with demining techniques • This technique can be used to detect at the same time objects other than mines such oil or minerals., Cette thèse de doctorat vise à étudier la possibilité de détecter les mines terrestres en utilisant l'imagerie hyperspectrale. En utilisant cette technologie, nous sommes capables d'acquérir à chaque pixel de l'image des données spectrales dans des centaines de longueurs d'onde. Ainsi, à chaque pixel, nous obtenons un spectre de réflectance qui est utilisé comme empreinte digitale pour identifier les matériaux dans chaque pixel, et principalement dans notre projet nous aider à détecter la présence de mines terrestres.Cette technologie présente des avantages par rapport aux techniques classiqument utilisées:• Elle est plus sûre car il limite les besoins des humains dans le processus de recherche et donne l'occasion à l'équipe de déminage de détecter les mines alors qu'elles se trouvent dans une région sûre.• Elle est plus rapide. Une zone plus grande pourrait être nettoyée en une seule journée par comparaison avec les techniques de déminage classiques.• Cette technique peut être utilisée pour détecter en même temps des objets autres que les mines tels que l'huile ou les minéraux.

So, at each pixel we obtain a reflectance spectrum that is used as fingerprint to identify the materials in each pixel, and mainly in our project help us to detect the presence of landmines.This technology has advantages over the actually used techniques: • It is safer because it limits the need of humans in the searching process and gives the opportunity to the demining team to detect the mines while they are in a safe region. • It is faster. Two parameters are thus introduced to represent (1) specular reflection at the leaf surface and (2) local leaf orientation. The model, called COSINE (ClOse-range Spectral ImagiNg of lEaves), can be coupled with a directional-hemispherical reflectance model of leaf optical properties to relate the measured reflectance to the foliar content. In this study, we show that, when combining COSINE with the PROSPECT model, the overall PROCOSINE model allows for a robust sub-millimeter retrieval of foliar content based on numerical inversion and pseudo bidirectional reflectance factor hyperspectral measurements.The relevance of the added parameters is first shown through a sensitivity analysis performed in the visible and near-infrared (VNIR) and shortwave infrared (SWIR) ranges. PROCOSINE is then validated based on VNIR and SWIR hyperspectral images of various leaf species exhibiting different surface properties. Introducing these two parameters within the inversion allows us to obtain accurate maps of PROSPECT parameters, e.g., the chlorophyll content in the VNIR range, and the equivalent water thickness and leaf mass per area in the SWIR range. Through the estimation of light incident angle, the PROCOSINE inversion also provides information on leaf orientation, which is a critical parameter in vegetation remote sensing.

Salinity is one of the most important stress factors in crop production, particularly in arid regions. This research focuses on the effect of salinity on the growth of lettuce plants; three solutions with different levels of salinity were considered and compared (S1 = 50, S2 = 100 and S3 = 150 mM NaCl) with a control solution (Ct = 0 mM NaCl). The osmotic potential and water content of the leaves were measured, and hyperspectral images of the surfaces of 40 leaves (10 leaves per treatment) were taken after two weeks of growth. The mean spectra of the leaves (n = 32,000) were pre-processed by means of a Savitzky–Golay algorithm and standard normal variate normalization. Principal component analysis was then performed on a calibration set of 28 mean spectra, yielding an initial model for salinity effect detection. A second model was subsequently proposed based on an index computing an approximation to the second derivative at the red edge region. Both models were applied to all the hyperspectral images to obtain the corresponding artificial images, distinguishing between the 28 that were used to extract the calibration mean spectra and the rest that constituted an external validation. Those virtual images were studied using analysis of variance in order to compare their ability for detecting salinity effects on the leaves. Both models showed significant differences between each salinity level, and the hyperspectral images allowed observations of the distribution of the salinity effects on the leaf surfaces, which were more intense in the areas distant from the veins. ISPRS Geospatial Week 2015, La Grande Motte, FRA, 28-/09/2015 - 03/10/2015; International audience; Tree species mapping in tropical forests provides valuable insights for forest managers. Keystone species can be located for collection of seeds for forest restoration, reducing fieldwork costs. However, mapping of tree species in tropical forests using remote sensing data is a challenge due to high floristic and spectral diversity. Little is known about the use of different spectral regions as most of studies performed so far used visible/near-infrared (390-1000 nm) features. In this paper we show the contribution of shortwave infrared (SWIR, 1045-2395 nm) for tree species discrimination in a tropical semideciduous forest. Using high-resolution hyperspectral data we also simulated WorldView-3 (WV-3) multispectral bands for classification purposes. Three machine learning methods were tested to discriminate species at the pixel-level: Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA), Support Vector Machines with Linear (L-SVM) and Radial Basis Function (RBF-SVM) kernels, and Random Forest (RF). Experiments were performed using all and selected features from the VNIR individually and combined with SWIR. Feature selection was applied to evaluate the effects of dimensionality reduction and identify potential wavelengths that may optimize species discrimination. Using VNIR hyperspectral bands, RBF-SVM achieved the highest average accuracy (77.4%). Inclusion of the SWIR increased accuracy to 85% with LDA. The same pattern was also observed when WV-3 simulated channels were used to classify the species. The VNIR bands provided and accuracy of 64.2% for LDA, which was increased to 79.8 % using the new SWIR bands that are operationally available in this platform. Results show that incorporating SWIR bands increased significantly average accuracy for both the hyperspectral data and WorldView-3 simulated bands.

International audience; Most methods for retrieving foliar content from hyperspectral data are well adapted either to remote-sensing scale, for which each spectral measurement has a spatial resolution ranging from a few dozen centimeters to a few hundred meters, or to leaf scale, for which an integrating sphere is required to collect the spectral data. In this study, we present a method for estimating leaf optical properties from hyperspectral images having a spatial resolution of a few millimeters or centimeters. In presence of a single light source assumed to be directional, it is shown that leaf hyperspectral measurements can be related to the directional hemispherical reflectance simulated by the PROSPECT radiative transfer model using two other parameters. The first one is a multiplicative term that is related to local leaf angle and illumination zenith angle. The second parameter is an additive specular-related term that models BRDF effects.Our model was tested on visible and near infrared hyperspectral images of leaves of various species, that were acquired under laboratory conditions. Introducing these two additional parameters into the inversion scheme leads to improved estimation results of PROSPECT parameters when compared to original PROSPECT. In particular, the RMSE for local chlorophyll content estimation was reduced by 21% (resp. 32%) when tested on leaves placed in horizontal (resp. sloping) position. Furthermore, inverting this model provides interesting information on local leaf angle, which is a crucial parameter in classical remote-sensing.

International audience; Les cartes géologiques établies et publiées par le BRGM à l’échelle du 1/50 000 ont été utilisées comme données d’entrées pour établir la cartographie départementale de l’aléa retrait-gonflement des argiles conduit par le BRGM de 1997 à fin 2010. Leur analyse permet d’identifier les formations argileuses (au sens large), affleurantes ou sub-affleurantes, et d’en établir une cartographique numérique, homogène à l’échelle départementale. En pratique, cette échelle départementale s’avère parfois insuffisante et les données géologiques sur lesquelles la cartographie a été bâtie est par endroit peu précise spatialement. En effet, les sinistres liés au retrait-gonflement des argiles se produisent principalement sur des constructions individuelles, la résolution de la carte n’est pas adaptée à l’utilisation à une échelle communale, par exemple pour la réalisation de zonages réglementaires. Il existe donc une forte demande pour une cartographie plus fine de ce phénomène. Le BRGM, à travers différents projets de recherche, travaille actuellement sur la mise en place d’une méthodologie d’exploitation des images hyperspectrales couplées à des connaissances locales en vue d’affiner la cartographie de l’aléa retrait-gonflement des argiles. Pour cela, l’approche proposée demande l’exploitation d’ensembles de données de différentes natures (bases de données géotechniques, mesures de spectroscopie infrarouge terrain et imagerie hyperspectrale) pour les intégrer dans une méthode opérationnelle de localisation et de quantification des zones riches en argiles de type gonflant en apportant une information homogène et continue aux différentes échelles pouvant intéresser les décideurs locaux. L'analyse spectrale de la lumière solaire réfléchie par la surface terrestre, ou spectroscopie de réflectance, constitue l'une des plus importantes sources d'information en ce qui concerne les caractéristiques chimiques et minéralogiques des matériaux constitutifs de la surface terrestre. Les spectres de réflectance dans l’infrarouge proche et moyen (de 1100 à 2500 nm) des roches présentent des bandes d’absorption caractéristiques qui permettent l’identification des minéraux constitutifs, par l’analyse de leur position en longueur d’onde, leur forme et leur intensité. Cette technique d’analyse spectrale à deux niveaux – proximal (laboratoire, in situ) et distal (télédétection) – est un outil de caractérisation des minéraux encore largement inexploité pour l’étude des sols gonflants.L’objectif des différents projets menés par le BRGM dans ce domaine est d’apporter à moyen terme aux différentes parties prenantes une cartographie fine permettant une meilleure connaissance du sujet mais également de nouvelles méthodes d’analyse des argiles, plus rapides et moins onéreuses que les techniques actuelles utilisées telles que la DRX ou les sondages géotechniques.

The performance of the estimations obtained from regression models is usually assessed with figures of merit such as the standard error of calibration, the standard error of prediction or the ratio of performance deviation. All of these parameters are estimated during the model building and validation stages to evaluate the global model performance. Beyond these global indicators, the evaluation of the uncertainty that affects predictions is a major trend in analytical chemistry and chemometrics but not yet in hyperspectral imagery. Several approximate expressions and resampling methods have been proposed to estimate the prediction uncertainty when using multivariate calibrations from laboratory spectra. Based on these propositions, this paper studies a process of mapping and analyzing the uncertainties that affect soil property predictions obtained from VNIR/SWIR airborne data using several methods. An application to real VNIR/SWIR airborne data of clay content was used to compare the methods. The different cases yielded insightsinto the sources of uncertainty and showed that uncertainty analysis can guide the user to better sampling, better calibration and ultimately better mapping.

This article is mainly focused on the distribution of a low dose constituent. Different approaches are compared, using initially filtered or non-filtered data, or using a column-wise augmented dataset before starting the MCR-ALS iterative process including appended information on the low dose component. In the studied formulation, magnesium stearate is used as a lubricant to improve powder flowability. With a theoretical concentration of 0.5% w/w in the drug product, the spectral variance contained in the data is weak. By using a Principal Component Analysis (PCA) filtered dataset as a first step of the MCR-ALS approach, the lubricant information is lost in the non-explained variance and its associated distribution in the tablet cannot be highlighted. A sufficient number of components to generate the PCA noise-filtered matrix has to be used in order to keep the lubricant variability within the data set analyzed or, otherwise, work with the raw non-filtered data. Different models are built using an increasing number of components to perform the PCA reduction. It is shown that the magnesium stearate information can be extracted from a PCA model using a minimum of 20 components. In the last part, a column-wise augmented matrix, including a reference spectrum of the lubricant, is used before starting MCR-ALS process. PCA reduction is performed on the augmented matrix, so the magnesium stearate contribution is included within the MCR-ALS calculations. By using an appropriate PCA reduction, with a sufficient number of components, or by using an augmented dataset including appended information on the low dose component, the distribution of the two actives, the two main excipients and the low dose lubricant are correctly recovered.

National audience; la classification supervisée d’images hyperspectrales est rendue difficile par le grand nombre de variables spectrales et par le petit nombre d’échantillons de références pour l’entraînement. Plusieurs méthodes ont été proposées pour aborder ce problème. Citons par exemple les méthodes Bayésiennes, les méthodes d’extraction de caractéristiques, les forêts aléatoires, les réseaux de neurones ainsi que les méthodes à noyau. En particulier, les Machines à Vecteurs de Support ou Séparateur à Vaste Marge (SVM) ont montré de très bonnes performances en termes de bonnes classification. Cependant, une des caractéristiques principales de l’imagerie hyperspectrale n’a pas été encore étudiée : la très forte corrélation entre deux bandes spectrales consécutives, liée à la nature physique des spectres de réflectance. Une façon de prendre en compte cette propriété est de ne pas considérer les spectres comme des vecteurs de variables spectrales mais comme la discrétisation de fonctions continues de la longueur d’onde. Cette modélisation permet ainsi de prendre en compte naturellement l’ordre des bandes spectrales, la forme des spectres ou la dérivée des spectres de longueurs d’ondes. De plus, l’utilisation de mesures de proximité spécifiques appelées « pseudo-métriques » sur les fonctions permet une plus grande robustesse face à la grande dimension spectrale. Dans cette présentation, nous introduirons une approche non-paramétrique de classification de fonctions à l’aide d’un modèle statistique fonctionnel. En particulier, la construction de 3 pseudo-métriques adaptées à la comparaison de courbes sera présentée. La première pseudo-métrique considérée est une extension de la distance vectorielle L2 aux espaces fonctionnels, la seconde est basée sur l’Analyse Fonctionnelle en Composante Principale (FPCA) et la troisième utilise sur la Régression Multiples des Moindres Carrés Partiels (MPLSR). Des résultats obtenus sur des images hyperspectrales réelles seront présentés. Pour comparaison, un modèle de mélange Gaussien et des SVM ont été appliqués. En termes de taux d’erreurs de classification, la méthode proposée avec la pseudo-métrique MPLSR donnent les meilleurs résultats. Nous conclurons la présentation sur les perspectives qu’offre la modélisation fonctionnelle pour le traitement d’images hyperspectrales.

International audience; The optimal processing of spectral data often requires specific pre-treatments. In the context of spectral discrimination, results can be greatly improved using the relevant pre-treatment. Most importantly, the pre-treatment mustbe suited to the nuisance variability that has to be removed. This study focuses on discrimination of weed and wheat using spectra acquired in outdoor conditions with uncontrolled lighting and leaf orientations. Both vegetationspectra are highly similar, and due to the context of acquisition, a lot of spectral variability is present. This nuisance variability is modeled using an additive, multiplicative and noise term, each of which aspects the measured spectra. Several pre-treatments were therefore evaluated according to their potential to deal with this variability and their eects were described in the feature space. Finally, results obtained with these pre-treatments combined with two discrimination methods (PLS-LDA and Gaussian SVM) are compared and discussed. Results showed that, thanks to their ability to removenuisance variability, most pre-treatments are eective in terms of classification accuracy. Gaussian SVM classification results are less in uenced by pre-treatments than those of PLS-LDA, since the former compensates thepre-treatment effect by using a different non-linear kernel. For this data-set, the best discrimination result was obtained using the combination logarithm and PLS-LDA. Logarithm actually transforms the multiplicative effect into and additive one, which is then eectively dealt with by PLS-LDA.

Hyperspectral imaging refers to the acquisition of spatial images at many spectral bands, e.g. in microscopy. Processing such data is often challenging due to the blur caused by the observation system, mathematically expressed as a convolution. The operation of deconvolution is thus necessary to restore the original image. Image restoration falls into the class of inverse problems, as opposed to the direct problem which consists in modeling the image degradation process, treated in part 1 of the thesis. Another inverse problem with many applications in hyperspectral imaging consists in extracting the pure materials making up the image, called endmembers, and their fractional contribution to the data or abundances. This problem is termed spectral unmixing and its resolution accounts for the nonnegativity of the endmembers and abundances. Part 2 presents algorithms designed to efficiently solve the hyperspectral image restoration problem, formulated as the minimization of a composite criterion. The methods are based on a common framework allowing to account for several a priori assumptions on the solution, including a nonnegativity constraint and the preservation of edges in the image. The performance of the proposed algorithms are demonstrated on fluorescence confocal images of bacterial biosensors. Part 3 deals with the spectral unmixing problem from a geometrical viewpoint. A sufficient condition on abundance coefficients for the identifiability of endmembers is proposed. We derive and study a joint observation model and mixing model and demonstrate the interest of performing deconvolution as a prior step to spectral unmixing on confocal Raman microscopy data, L'imagerie hyperspectrale consiste à acquérir une scène spatiale à plusieurs longueurs d'onde, e.g. en microscopie. Cependant, lorsque l'image est observée à une résolution suffisamment fine, elle est dégradée par un flou (convolution) et une procédure de déconvolution doit être utilisée pour restaurer l'image originale. Ce problème inverse, par opposition au problème direct modélisant la dégradation de l'image observée, est étudié dans la première partie . Un autre problème inverse important en imagerie, la séparation de sources, consiste à extraire les spectres des composants purs de l'image (sources) et à estimer les contributions de chaque source à l'image. La deuxième partie propose des contributions algorithmiques en restauration d'images hyperspectrales. Le problème est formulé comme la minimisation d'un critère pénalisé et résolu à l'aide d'une structure de calcul rapide. La méthode est adaptée à la prise en compte de différents a priori sur l'image, tels que sa positivité ou la préservation des contours. Les performances des techniques proposées sont évaluées sur des images de biocapteurs bactériens en microscopie confocale de fluorescence. La troisième partie est axée sur le problème de séparation de sources, abordé dans un cadre géométrique. Nous proposons une nouvelle condition suffisante d'identifiabilité des sources à partir des coefficients de mélange. Une étude innovante couplant le modèle d'observation avec le mélange de sources permet de montrer l'intérêt de la déconvolution comme étape préliminaire de la séparation. Ce couplage est validé sur des données acquises en spectroscopie Raman

Ce mémoire de maîtrise présente une nouvelle approche non supervisée pour détecter et segmenter les régions urbaines dans les images hyperspectrales. La méthode proposée n ́ecessite trois étapes. Tout d’abord, afin de réduire le coût calculatoire de notre algorithme, une image couleur du contenu spectral est estimée. A cette fin, une étape de réduction de dimensionalité non-linéaire, basée sur deux critères complémentaires mais contradictoires de bonne visualisation; à savoir la précision et le contraste, est réalisée pour l’affichage couleur de chaque image hyperspectrale. Ensuite, pour discriminer les régions urbaines des régions non urbaines, la seconde étape consiste à extraire quelques caractéristiques discriminantes (et complémentaires) sur cette image hyperspectrale couleur. A cette fin, nous avons extrait une série de paramètres discriminants pour décrire les caractéristiques d’une zone urbaine, principalement composée d’objets manufacturés de formes simples g ́eométriques et régulières. Nous avons utilisé des caractéristiques texturales basées sur les niveaux de gris, la magnitude du gradient ou des paramètres issus de la matrice de co-occurrence combinés avec des caractéristiques structurelles basées sur l’orientation locale du gradient de l’image et la détection locale de segments de droites. Afin de réduire encore la complexité de calcul de notre approche et éviter le problème de la ”malédiction de la dimensionnalité” quand on décide de regrouper des données de dimensions élevées, nous avons décidé de classifier individuellement, dans la dernière étape, chaque caractéristique texturale ou structurelle avec une simple procédure de K-moyennes et ensuite de combiner ces segmentations grossières, obtenues à faible coût, avec un modèle efficace de fusion de cartes de segmentations. Les expérimentations données dans ce rapport montrent que cette stratégie est efficace visuellement et se compare favorablement aux autres méthodes de détection et segmentation de zones urbaines à partir d’images hyperspectrales., This master’s thesis presents a new approach to urban area detection and segmentation in hyperspectral images. The proposed method relies on a three-step procedure. First, in order to decrease the computational complexity, an informative three-colour composite image, minimizing as much as possible the loss of information of the spectral content, is computed. To this end, a non-linear dimensionality reduction step, based on two complementary but contradictory criteria of good visualization, namely accuracy and contrast, is achieved for the colour display of each hyperspectral image. In order to discriminate between urban and non-urban areas, the second step consists of extracting some complementary and discriminant features on the resulting (three-band) colour hyperspectral image. To attain this goal, we have extracted a set of features relevant to the description of different aspects of urban areas, which are mainly composed of man-made objects with regular or simple geometrical shapes. We have used simple textural features based on grey-levels, gradient magnitude or grey-level co-occurence matrix statistical parameters combined with structural features based on gradient orientation, and straight segment detection. In order to also reduce the computational complexity and to avoid the so-called “curse of dimensionality” when clustering high-dimensional data, we decided, in the final third step, to classify each individual feature (by a simple K-means clustering procedure) and to combine these multiple low-cost and rough image segmentation results with an efficient fusion model of segmentation maps. The experiments reported in this report demonstrate that the proposed segmentation method is efficient in terms of visual evaluation and performs well compared to existing and automatic detection and segmentation methods of urban areas from hyperspectral images.

In hyperspectral imaging, the volumes of data acquired often reach the gigabyte for a single scene observed. Therefore, the analysis of these data complex physical content must go with a preliminary step of dimensionality reduction. In this thesis, we focus on dimensionality reduction in the context of unsupervised classification of spectral bands. Different approaches exist, such as those based on projection (linear or nonlinear) of high-dimensional data in a representation subspaces or on the techniques of selection of spectral bands exploiting of the criteria of complementarity-redundant information do not allow to preserve the wealth of information provided by this type of data. 1- We have made a comparative study on the stability and similarity of nonparametric algorithms and unsupervised projection methods and also the selection of spectrales bands used in the dimensionality reduction at different noise levels determined. The tests are conducted on hyperspectral images, classifying them into three categories according to their level of performance to preserve the amount of information. 2- We introduced a new approach of criterion based on the dissimilarity of the attributes spectral and used into a local space on matrices of data; the approach was used for to define a rate of safeguarding of a rare event in a given mathematical transformation. However, we limited his application to the context of the thesis related to the reduction of the size of the data in a hyperspectral image. 3- The comparative studies allowed a first hybrid proposal for an approach for the reduction of the size of an image hyperspectral allowing a better stability: BandClustering with Multidimensional Scaling (MDS). Examples are given to show the originality and the relevance of the hybridization (BanClust\MDS) of the analysis carried out. 4- The trend of hybridization was generalized thereafter by presenting an adaptive hybrid algorithm unsupervised based on Fuzzy logic (Fuzzy C-means), a method of projection as the analysis in principal component (PCA) and a validity index of a classification. The classifications carried out by Fuzzy C- means, make it possible to assign each pixel of an image hyperspectral to all the classes with degrees of membership varying between 0 and 1. This property makes the FCM interesting method for the detection of progressive or between different spectral bands or from spectral heterogeneities. With conventional methods known validity indices of classes, we determined the optimal number of classes of FCM and the fuzzy parameter. We show that this hybridization leads to a relevant reduction rate in hyperspectral imaging. Consequently, this algorithm applied to different samples of hyperspectral data, allows a spectral imagery much more informative, in particular on the level of spectral heterogeneity.; En Imagerie hyperspectrale, les volumes de données acquises atteignent souvent le gigaoctet pour une seule et même scène observée. Cependant, nous avons limitée son application au contexte de la thèse liée à la réduction de la taille des données dans une image hyperspectrale. 3 - Les études comparatives ont permis une première proposition d'approche hybride pour la reduction de la taille d'une image hyperspectrale permettant une meilleure stabilité : BandClustering avec Multidimensional Scaling (MDS). Des exemples sont donnés pour démontrer l'originalité et la pertinence de l'hybridation (BandClust / MDS) de l'analyse effectuée. 4 - La tendance de l'hybridation a été généralisée par la suite en présentant un algorithme hybride adaptatif non supervisé basé sur la logique flou (Fuzzy C means), une méthode de projection comme l'analyse en composante principale (ACP) et un indice de validité d'une classification. Les classifications effectuées par Fuzzy C means permettent d'affecter chaque pixel d'une image hyperspectrale à toutes les classes avec des degrés d'appartenance variant entre 0 et 1. Cette propriété rend la méthode FCM intéressante pour la mise en évidence soit des transitions progressives entre les différentes bandes spectrales ou des hétérogénéités spectrales. Grâce à des méthodes conventionnelles appelées indices de validité de classes, nous avons déterminé le nombre optimal de classes de FCM ainsi que le paramètre de flou. Nous montrons que cette hybridation conduit à un taux de réduction pertinent dans l'imagerie hyperspectrale. Par conséquent, Cet algorithme appliqué à différents échantillons de données hyperspectrales, permet une imagerie spectrale beaucoup plus informative, notamment au niveau de l'hétérogénéité spectrale.

16th International Conference on Near Infrared Spectroscopy, La Grande-Motte, FRA, 02-/06/2013 - 07/06/2013; International audience; The objective of this study was to evaluate the potential of proximal hyperspectral imaging to (i) calibrate a model to predict soil respiration under controlled conditions, and (ii) to determine both spatial and temporal variations in soil respiration at a hundreds of micrometer scale. Calibration models based on spectra and respiration measured on standards were built then applied on hyperspectral images acquired on soil mesocosms (400 cm²), in order to predict their respiration pixel by pixel (0.2 mm²). The quality of the models was acceptable but their application to produce prediction maps faced some technical problems due to hyperspectral technology.

The present research is focused on the application of hyperspectral images for the supervision of quality deterioration in ready to use leafy spinach during storage (Spinacia oleracea). Two sets of samples of packed leafy spinach were considered: a) first set of samples was stored at 20°C (E-20) in order to accelerate the degradation process; these samples were measured the day of reception in the laboratory and after two days of storage; b) second set of samples was kept at 10°C (E-10); the measurements were taken throughout the period of storage, beginning the day of reception and repeating the acquisition of images three, six and nine days after. Twenty leaves per testing date of test were analyzed. Hyperspectral images were acquired with a push-broom CCD camera equipped with a spectrograph VNIR (400 to 1000 nm). Calibration set of spectra was extracted from E-20 samples, containing three classes of degradation: class A (optimal quality), class B and class C (maximum deterioration). Reference average spectra were defined for each class. Three models, computed on the calibration set, with a decreasing degree of complexity were compared, according to their ability for segregating spinaches at different quality stages (fresh, with incipient and non visible symptoms of degradation, and degraded): spectral angle mapper distance (SAM), partial least squares discriminant analysis models (PLS-DA), and a non linear index (Leafy Vegetable Evolution, LEVE) combining five wavelengths included among the previously selected by CovSel procedure. In sets E-10 and E-20, artificial images of the membership degree according to the distance of each pixel to the reference classes, were computed assigning each pixel to the closest reference class. The three methods were able to show the evolution degradation of the leaves along the time.

Hyperspectral imaging refers to the acquisition of spatial images at enough spectral bands to produce highly resolved pixel spectra. When applied to microscopy, this technique allows to collect additional information about the specimens of interest. Processing hyperspectral data is often challenging due to the blurring caused by the observation system, mathematically expressed as a convolution. The operation of deconvolution is thus necessary to restore the original image from the observations. Image restoration falls into the class of inverse problems, as opposed to the direct problem which consists in modeling the image degradation process, treated in part 1 of the thesis. Another inverse problem with many applications in hyperspectral imaging consists in extracting the pure materials making up the image, called endmembers, and their fractional contribution to the data or abundances. This problem is termed spectral unmixing and its resolution accounts for the nonnegativity of the endmembers and abundances. Part 2 presents algorithms designed to efficiently solve the hyperspectral image restoration problem, formulated as the minimization of a composite criterion. The methods are based on a common framework allowing to account for several a priori assumptions on the solution, including a nonnegativity constraint and the preservation of edges in the image. The performance of the proposed algorithms are demonstrated on fluorescence confocal images of bacterial biosensors. Part 3 deals with the spectral unmixing problem from a geometrical viewpoint. A sufficient condition on abundance coefficients for the identifiability of endmembers is proposed. We derive and study a joint observation model and mixing model and demonstrate the interest of performing deconvolution as a prior step to spectral unmixing on confocal Raman microscopy data., L'imagerie hyperspectrale consiste à acquérir une scène spatiale à plusieurs longueurs d'onde, de manière à reconstituer le spectre des pixels. Cette technique est utilisée en microscopie pour extraire des informations spectrales sur les spécimens observés. L'analyse de telles données est bien souvent difficile : lorsque l'image est observée à une résolution suffisamment fine, elle est dégradée par l'instrument (flou ou convolution) et une procédure de déconvolution doit être utilisée pour restaurer l'image originale. On parle ainsi de problème inverse, par opposition au problème direct consistant à modéliser la dégradation de l'image observée, étudié dans la première partie de la thèse. Un autre problème inverse important en imagerie consiste à extraire les signatures spectrales des composants purs de l'image ou sources et à estimer les contributions fractionnaires de chaque source à l'image. Cette procédure est qualifiée de séparation de sources, accomplie sous contrainte de positivité des sources et des mélanges. La deuxième partie propose des contributions algorithmiques en restauration d'images hyperspectrales. Le problème de déconvolution est formulé comme la minimisation d'un critère pénalisé et résolu à l'aide d'une structure de calcul rapide. Cette méthode générique est adaptée à la prise en compte de différents a priori sur la solution, tels que la positivité de l'image ou la préservation des contours. Les performances des techniques proposées sont évaluées sur des images de biocapteurs bactériens en microscopie confocale de fluorescence. La troisième partie de la thèse est axée sur la problématique de séparation de sources, abordé dans un cadre géométrique. Nous proposons une nouvelle condition suffisante d'identifiabilité des sources à partir des coefficients de mélange. Une étude innovante couplant le modèle d'observation instrumental avec le modèle de mélange de sources permet de montrer l'intérêt de la déconvolution comme étape préliminaire de la séparation. Ce couplage est validé sur des données acquises en microscopie confocale Raman.

This thesis deals with estimation and supervised detection issues in hyperspectral imagery, applied in coastal environments. Bathymetric models of reflectance are used for modeling the water column influence on the incident light. Various parameters are optically active and are responsible for distorting the reflectance spectrum (phytoplankton, colored dissolved organic matter...). We adopt a new statistical approach for estimating these parameters, which are usually retrieved by inverting physical models. Various methods such as maximum likelihood estimation, maximum a posteriori estimation, and Cramér-Rao bound calculation, are successfully implemented on simulated and real data. Moreover, we adapt the frequently used supervised detectors to the underwater target detection context. If some parameters describing the water column influence are unknown, we propose a new filter, based on the generalized likelihood ratio test, and that enables the detection without any a priori knowledge on these parameters.; Cette thèse aborde des problématiques d'estimation et de détection supervisée en imagerie hyperspectrale, appliquées ici aux environnements côtiers. Des modèles bathymétriques de réflectance sont utilisés afin de représenter l'influence de la colonne d'eau sur la lumière incidente. International audience; La difficulté à discriminer efficacement adventices et culture par vision numérique reste aujourd’hui un obstacle majeur à l’extension du désherbage localisé. L’objectif de la présente étude est d’évaluer le potentiel de l’imagerie hyperspectrale pour la détection des adventices dicotylédones dans le blé dur à la période de désherbage (fin de l’hiver). Un dispositif d’acquisition basé sur une caméra push-broom montée sur un rail motorisé a été utilisé pour prendre des images vues de dessus de la culture à une distance d’un mètre. Une surface de référence placée dans chaque image, ainsi que des prétraitements spécifiques, permettent de s’affranchir des variations de l’éclairage naturel. La discrimination spectrale entre adventices et cultures par PLS-DA se montre efficace, avec un taux d’erreur de 8% établi sur un ensemble de test indépendant. / The difficulties to efficiently discriminate between weeds and crop by computer vision remains today a major obstacle to the promotion of localized weeding practices. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the potential of hyperspectral imagery for the detection of dicotyledonous weeds in durum wheat during weeding period (end of winter). An acquisition device based on a push-broom camera mounted on a motorized rail has been used to acquire top-view images of crop at a distance of one meter. A reference surface set in each image, as well as specific spectral pre-processing, allow overcoming variable outdoor lighting conditions. Spectral discrimination between weeds and crop, obtained by PLS-LDA, appears quite efficient, with a 8% prediction error on an independent test set.

Le concept d’agriculture de précision consiste à gérer spatialement les pratiques culturales en fonction des variabilités intra-parcellaires. La plupart des outils associés utilisent des capteurs optiques ou imageurs. L’imagerie aérienne est notamment souvent utilisée pour compléter ou remplacer des capteurs embarqués sur machine agricole, mais elle présente des inconvénients comparée aux capteurs optiques de " proxi-détection " : résolution, accessibilité, coût, temporalité, etc. Nous proposons dans ce chapitre d’explorer le domaine de la proxi-détection en s’intéressant d’abord au développement de systèmes d’acquisition d’image robustes, puis aux méthodes de traitement d’image à travers divers exemples d’applications : caractérisation de cultures de blé d’une part (détection/comptage d’épis, détection d’adventices), évolution de la germination de graines (chicorée) d’autre part. / The concept of precision agriculture consists to spatially manage crop management practices according to in-field variability. Most of the tools used for Precision Farming utilize optical and/or imaging sensors. Remote sensing imaging devices are often used to complete or replace embedded sensors onboard the agricultural machinery, however they get some drawbacks compared to “proxy-detection” optical sensors: resolution, accessibility, cost, temporality, etc. We propose in this chapter to explore the proxi-detection domain by focusing first on the development of robust image acquisition systems, and secondly on the use of image processing through different application examples dealing with wheat crop characterization (detection and counting of wheat ears, weed detection), and evaluation of seed development/germination performance of chicory achenes.

L'objectif de la présente étude était d'évaluer le potentiel de l'imagerie hyperspectrale pour la détection d'adventices dicotylédones dans le blé dur durant la période désherbage (fin de l'hiver). Un dispositif d'acquisition basé sur une caméra push-broom montée sur un rail motorisé a été utilisé pour acquérir des images vues de dessus des cultures à une distance d'un mètre. Une surface de référence placée dans chaque image, ainsi que des prétraitements spectraux spécifiques permettent de s'affranchir de la variabilité des conditions extérieures d'éclairage. La discrimination spectrale entre blé et adventices obtenue par PLS-DA s'avère particulièrement efficace, avec un taux d'erreur inférieur à 2% sur la classification des pixels. Toutefois des études complémentaires sont nécessaires pour en évaluer la robustesse. / The problem of weed and crop discrimination by computer vision remains today a major obstacle to the promotion of localized weeding practices. The objective of present study was to evaluate the potential of hyperspectral imagery for the detection of dicotyledonous weeds in durum wheat during weeding period (end of winter). An acquisition device based on a push-broom camera mounted on a motorized rail has been used to acquire top-view images of crop at a distance of one meter. A reference surface set in each image, as well as specific spectral preprocessing, allow overcoming variable outdoor lighting conditions. The spectral discrimination between weeds and crop, obtained by PLS-DA, appears particularly efficient, with a maximal error rate on pixel classification lower than 2%. However complementary studies addressing robustness are still required.

A kernel adapted to the high spectral dimension of hyperspectral images is discussed in this article. The kernel is based on the Mahalanobis distance defined for each class. A parsimonious probabilistic model is used for the inversion of the covariance matrix. The kernel reaches a trade-off between a conventional Gaussian kernel and a Gaussian kernel on the first principal components of the considered class. The proposed approach is compared to other methods for the classification of Ash tree in hyperspectral images. In terms of accuracies, the proposed kernel performs better than conventional Mahalanobis kernel and performs as well as the conventional Gaussian kernel., Un noyau adapté à la grande dimension spectrale des images hyperspectrales est proposé dans cet article. Ce noyau repose sur la distance de Mahalanobis calculée pour chaque classe. Le calcul est rendu possible en grande dimension par l’utilisation d’un modèle probabiliste parcimonieux permettant de stabiliser l’inversion de la matrice de covariance lors du calcul de la distance. Ce noyau réalise un compromis entre un noyau appliqué sur les données originales et un noyau appliqué les données projetées sur les premiers axes propres de la classe considérée. Cette approche est comparée à d’autres méthodes pour classifier le frêne sur des images hyperspectrales. En termes de précision, le noyau proposé permet d’améliorer les résultats par rapport au noyau classique de Mahalanobis et donne des résultats similaire au noyau gaussien.

The present research is focused on the application of artificial vision to assess the ripening of red skinned soft-flesh peach (Richlady'). Artificial vision allows a spatially detailed determination of the ripening stage of the fruit. The considered optical indexes (Ind1 and Ind2, proposed in the present research, and Ind3 and IAD, proposed by other authors) are based on the combination of wavelengths close to the chlorophyll absorption peak at 680 nm. Ind1 corresponds approximately to the depth of the absorption peak, and Ind2 corresponds to the relative absorption peak. An artificial image of each index was obtained by computing the corresponding reflectance images, which were acquired with a hyperspectral camera. All indexes were able to correct convexity (except for the just-harvested peaches and for Ind1). Ind2 is the preferred index; it showed the highest discriminating power between ripening stages and no influence of convexity. Ind2 also allowed the differentiation of ripening regions within the fruits, and it showed the evolution of those regions during ripening.

Hyperspectral image processing is the generalization of analysis of color images, having three components red, green and blue, to multivariate images having several tens or hundreds of components. In a general way, hyperspectral images are not only acquired in the domain of wavelengths but correspond to a pixel description by a set of values: i.e. a vector. Each one of the components of an hyperspectral image is a spectral channel, and the vector which is associated to each pixel is called spectrum. In order to validate the generality of our processing methods, we have applied them to several kinds of imageries corresponding to the most various hyperspectral images : some pictures with a few tens of components acquired in the domain of wavelengths, some satellite images of remote sensing, some temporal series of Dynamic Contrast Enhanced Magnetic Resonance Imagery (DCE-MRI) and some temporal series of thermal imagery. During this PhD, we have developed a complete chain for automatic segmentation of hyperspectral images by morphological technics. In order to realize it, we have perfected an efficient method of spectral denoising using Factor Correspondence Analysis (FCA). This method preserves spatial contours, which is very useful for morphological segmentation. Then, we have reduced the dimension of the image using data analysis methods, or using spectral modelling, in order to get another representation of the image with a reduced number of channels. Starting from this image of smaller dimension, we have made a classification (supervised or not) in order to group pixels into homogeneous spectral classes. However, the obtained classes being not spatially homogeneous, i.e. connected, a segmentation stage is necessary. We have demonstrated that the recent method of the Probabilistic Watershed is particularly adapted to the segmentation of hyperspectral images. It is based on different realizations of markers, conditioned by the spectral classification, to get some realizations of contours by Watershed. These contours realizations ensure the estimate of a probability density function (pdf) which is very easy to segment by a standard Watershed. Finally, the probabilistic Watershed is conditioned by the spectral classification. Therefore, it produces spatio-spectral segmentations with very smooth contours. This treatment chain has been applied on series of DCE-MRI and gives us the possibility to build an automatic method for computer aided detection of cancerous tumors. Moreover, some other segmentation approaches have been developed for hyperspectral images: η-bounded regions and µ-geodesic balls. Thanks to the introduction of regional information, they improve the segmentations by quasi-flat zones which are only based on local information. Finally, we have perfected a very efficient method to compute all the pixels pairs of geodesic distances in an image. It reduces until 50 % the number of operations compared to a naïve approach and until 30 % compared to other methods. The efficient computation of this table of distances opens very promising perspectives for spatio-spectral dimensionality reduction.; Le traitement d'images hyperspectrales est la généralisation de l'analyse des images couleurs, à trois composantes rouge, vert et bleu, aux images multivariées à plusieurs dizaines ou plusieurs centaines de composantes. Dans un sens général, les images hyperspectrales ne sont pas uniquement acquises dans le domaine des longueurs d'ondes mais correspondent à une description d'un pixel par un ensemble de valeurs : c'est à dire un vecteur. Chacune des composantes d'une image hyperspectrale constitue un canal spectral, et le vecteur associé à chaque pixel est appelé spectre. Pour valider la généralité de nos méthodes de traitement, nous les avons appliquées à plusieurs types d'imagerie correspondant aux images hyperspectrales les plus variées : des photos avec quelques dizaines de composantes acquises dans le domaine des longueurs d'ondes, des images satellites de télédétection, des séries temporelles d'imagerie par résonance dynamique (DCE-MRI) et des séries temporelles d'imagerie thermique. Durant cette thèse, nous avons développé une chaîne complète de segmentation automatique des images hyperspectrales par des techniques morphologiques. Pour ce faire, nous avons mis au point une méthode efficace de débruitage spectral, par Analyse Factorielle des Correspondances (AFC), qui permet de conserver les contours spatiaux des objets, ce qui est très utile pour la segmentation morphologique. Puis nous avons fait de la réduction de dimension, par des méthodes d'analyse de données ou par modélisation des spectres, afin d'obtenir un autre représentation de l'image avec un nombre restreint de canaux. A partir de cette image de plus faible dimension, nous avons effectué une classification (supervisée ou non) pour grouper les pixels en classes spectralement homogènes. Cependant, les classes obtenues n'étant pas homogènes spatialement, i.e. connexes, une étape de segmentation s'est donc avérée nécessaire. Nous avons démontré que la méthode récente de la Ligne de Partage des Eaux Probabiliste était particulièrement adaptée à la segmentation des images hyperspectrales. Elle utilise différentes réalisations de marqueurs aléatoires, conditionnés par la classification spectrale, pour obtenir des réalisations de contours par Ligne de Partage des Eaux (LPE). Ces réalisations de contours permettent d'estimer une fonction de densité de probabilité de contours (pdf) qui est très facile à segmenter par une LPE classique. En définitive, la LPE probabiliste est conditionnée par la classification spectrale et produit donc des segmentations spatio-spectrales dont les contours sont très lisses. Cette chaîne de traitement à été mise en œuvre sur des séquences d'imagerie par résonance magnétique dynamique (DCE-MRI) et a permis d'établir une méthode automatique d'aide au diagnostic pour la détection de tumeurs cancéreuses. En outre, d'autres techniques de segmentation spatio-spectrales ont été développées pour les images hyperspectrales : les régions η-bornées et les boules µ-géodésiques. Grâce à l'introduction d'information régionale, elles améliorent les segmentations par zones quasi-plates qui n'utilisent quant à elles que de l'information locale. Enfin, nous avons mis au point une méthode très efficace de calcul de toutes les paires de distances géodésiques d'une image, puisqu'elle permet de réduire jusqu'à 50 % le nombre d'opérations par rapport à une approche naïve et jusqu'à 30 % par rapport aux autres méthodes. Le calcul efficace de ce tableau de distances offre des perspectives très prometteuses pour la réduction de dimension spatio-spectrale.

Dans ce travail, nous considérons le problème de la classification supervisée de texture à partir d'images multi-composante de télédetection, dites hyperspectrales. Ces images, le plus souvent acquises par des instruments spectro-imageurs dont le nombre de canaux est en général supérieur à 10, fournissent ainsi une représentation du paysage échantillonnée à la fois spatialement et spectralement. Le but de ce travail est de réaliser une analyse de texture qui se déroule conjointement dans ces deux espaces discrets. On recherche ainsi à enrichir la représentation "habituelle" de texture fondée sur la prise en compte des variations locales de contraste, par l'adjonction d'une connaissance sur ses variations spectrales. L'applicati- on qui est susceptible de bénéficier directement des résultats de cette étude est la classification du tissu urbain. En effet, la réponse spectrale (radiométrique) des zones urbaines est en général ambiguë du fait de la similitude de réponse spectrale de certains matériaux constitutifs du paysage urbain avec certains éléments naturels tels que l'eau, le sol nu, la végétation. La multiplication des bandes spectrales a pour conséquence de rendre plus complexes les mesures et demande également la prise en considération d'un nombre d'échantillons d'apprentissage très important. Quand le nombre de ces échantillons n'est pas suffisant, il faut passer par une étape de réduction de la dimension de l'espace d'observation. Pour prendre en compte le problème de la dimension et celui de l'analyse de texture conjointement dans le domaine spatial et spectral, on se propose ici de faire coopérer un algorithme de poursuite de projection paramétrique, déjà utilisé pour la réduction d'espace dans un cadre non-contextuel, à un modèle de texture par champ markovien, dit modèle markovien gaussien.
