Abstract Chinese Painting and Calligraphy (ChP&C) holds significant cultural value, representing integral aspects of both Chinese culture and global art. A considerable amount of ChP&C works are dispersed worldwide. With the emergence of digital humanities, a vast collection of cultural artifacts data is now available online. However, the online databases of these artifacts remain decentralized and diverse, posing significant challenges to their effective organization and utilization. Addressing this, our paper focuses on the Wu Men School of Painting and proposes a framework for constructing a multimodal knowledge graph for the ChP&C domain. We construct the domain ontology by analyzing the ChP&C knowledge schema. Then, we acquire knowledge from diverse data sources, including textual and visual information. To enhance data collection around collecting historical context and subject matter, we propose methods for seal extraction and subject extraction specific to ChP&C. We validate the effectiveness of these methods on the constructed dataset. Finally, we construct the Wu Men Multimodal Knowledge Graph (WuMKG) and implement applications such as cross-modal retrieval, knowledge-based question-answering and visualization.

In our paper, we present an extension of text embedding architectures for grayscale medical image classification. We introduce a mechanism that combines n-gram features with an efficient pixel flattening technique to preserve spatial information during feature representation generation. Our approach involves flattening all pixels in grayscale medical images using a combination of column-wise, row-wise, diagonal-wise, and anti-diagonal-wise orders. This ensures that spatial dependencies are captured effectively in the feature representations. To evaluate the effectiveness of our method, we conducted a benchmark using 5 grayscale medical image datasets of varying sizes and complexities. 10-fold cross-validation showed that our approach achieved test accuracy score of 99.92 % on the Medical MNIST dataset, 90.06 % on the Chest X-ray Pneumonia dataset, 96.94 % on the Curated Covid CT dataset, 79.11 % on the MIAS dataset and 93.17 % on the Ultrasound dataset. Piwi-interacting RNA (piRNA) is a type of non-coding small RNA that is highly expressed in mammalian testis. PiRNA has been implicated in various human diseases, but the experimental validation of piRNA-disease associations is costly and time-consuming. In this article, a novel computational method for predicting piRNA-disease associations using a multi-channel graph variational autoencoder (MC-GVAE) is proposed. This method integrates four types of similarity networks for piRNAs and diseases, which are derived from piRNA sequences, disease semantics, piRNA Gaussian Interaction Profile (GIP) kernel, and disease GIP kernel, respectively. These networks are modeled by a graph VAE framework, which can learn low-dimensional and informative feature representations for piRNAs and diseases. Then, a multi-channel method is used to fuse the feature representations from different networks. Finally, a three-layer neural network classifier is applied to predict the potential associations between piRNAs and diseases. The method was evaluated on a benchmark dataset containing 5,002 experimentally validated associations with 4,350 piRNAs and 21 diseases, constructed from the piRDisease v1.0 database. It achieved state-of-the-art performance, with an average AUC value of 0.9310 and an AUPR value of 0.9247 under five-fold cross-validation. This demonstrates the method’s effectiveness and superiority in piRNA-disease association prediction.

Background: The relationship between air pollution and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) has garnered significant interest among researchers globally. This study employed bibliometric analysis to provide an overview of current research on the association between air pollution and CVDs, offering a comprehensive analysis of global research trends in this area. Methods: An exhaustive scrutiny of literature pertaining to the nexus between air pollution and CVDs from 2012 to 2022 was conducted through rigorous screening of the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). Publications were exclusively considered in English. Subsequently, sophisticated analytical tools including CiteSpace 6.2.4R, Vosviewer 1.6.19, HistCite 2.1, Python 3.7.5, Microsoft Charticulator, and Bibliometrix Online Analysis Platform were deployed to delineate research trends in this domain. Results: The analysis of the dataset, comprising 1710 documents, unveiled a consistent escalation in scientific publications, peaking in 2022 with a total of 248 publications. Moreover, Environmental Science and Toxicology stood out as the predominant categories. Examination of keyword frequency highlighted the terms ‘air pollution’, ‘cardiovascular disease’, and ‘particulate matter’ as the most prevalent. Notably, the most prolific entities, in terms of authors, journals, organizations, and countries, were identified as Robert D. Brook, Environmental Health Perspectives, Harvard University, and the United States, respectively. Conclusion: The findings presented a notable increase in high-quality publications on this topic over the past 11 years, suggesting a positive outlook for future research. The study concluded with an examination of three key themes in research trends related to air pollution and CVDs: the initial physiological response to pollutant exposure, the pathways through which pollutants are transmitted, and the subsequent effects on target organs. Additionally, various air pollutants, such as particulate matter, nitric dioxide, and ozone, could contribute to multiple CVDs, including coronary heart disease, hypertension, and heart failure. Although some hypotheses have been put forward, the mechanisms of air pollution-related CVDs still need to be explored in the future.

In this work, an accurate temperature-dependent drain current $I_{\mathrm { D}}$ fluctuation model valid from 10 to 300 K was proposed for 18 nm ultra-thin body and buried oxide (UTBB) n-channel field effect transistors (n-FETs). The temperature dependence of $I_{\mathrm { D}}$ fluctuation was characterized and investigated from 300 K down to 10 K. In moderate inversion mode, $I_{\mathrm { D}}$ fluctuation is more severe at sub-100 K while in the strong inversion mode, it still can be overshadowed by the charge screening effect. Cryogenic virtual source (CVS) device model was used to extract and analyze the carrier density and mobility which are used in the current fluctuation model. The current fluctuation model was experimentally verified under different inversion conditions, showing it can be used to analyze and optimize the flicker noise in the low temperature (LT) circuit applications.

The recent years have witnessed a great leap for near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy technology in multifunctional application fields. In this study, a double-perovskite structured Cr3+-doped Cs2KScF6 fluoride NIR phosphor with peak location at 778 nm and full-width at half maximum (FWHM) of 95 nm was synthesized by a co-precipitation method. The integral emission intensity at 423 K retains 70 % of that at room temperature (RT), showing good luminescent thermal stability. Combining the obtained phosphor in an NIR phosphor converted light-emitting diode (NIR pc-LED) device, the output power and photoelectric conversion efficiency can reach 72.28 mW and 6.83 % at 320 mA. By virtue of the good optical performance, clear structural images of different fruits were visualized by using the NIR pc-LED as light source, suggesting the potential of Cs2KScF6:Cr3+ phosphor to be used in high-power LED devices.

Abstract Objective The present study aimed to investigate the association of triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) with coronary artery disease (CAD), and evaluate the cumulative value of TyG index and NLR in identifying CAD, as well as the severity of CAD. Methods This retrospective study enrolled 2867 patients who underwent coronary angiography (CAG) for the first time between January 2013 and June 2022 in Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University. Abstract Objective Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder with complex clinical manifestations, while its pathophysiological mechanism is not fully understood. Accumulated evidence suggested the alteration in epigenetic pathway was associated with clinical features and brain dysfunctions in schizophrenia. DNA methyltransferases (DNMTs), a key enzyme for DNA methylation, are related to the development of schizophrenia, whereas the current research evidence is not sufficient. The aim of study was to explore the effects of gene polymorphisms of DNMTs on the susceptibility and symptoms of schizophrenia. Methods The study was case–control study that designed and employed the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-Fifth Edition (DSM-5) as the diagnostic standard. 134 hospitalized patients with schizophrenia in the Third People's Hospital of Zhongshan City from January 2018 to April 2020 (Case group) as well as 64 healthy controls (Control group) from the same region were involved. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of DNMT1 genes (r s2114724 and rs 2228611) and DNMT3B genes (rs 2424932, rs 1569686, rs 6119954 and rs 2424908) were determined with massARRAY. Linkage disequilibrium analysis and haplotype analysis were performed, and genotype and allele frequencies were compared. The Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium was tested by the Chi-square test in SPSS software (version 20.0, SPSS Inc., USA). The severity of clinical symptoms was assessed by the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS). The correlation between DNMT1 genes (rs 2114724 and rs 2228611) and DNMT3B genes (rs2424932, rs1569686, rs6119954 and rs2424908) and clinical features was analyzed. Results There were no significant differences in genotype, allele frequency and haplotype of DNMT1 genes (rs 2114724 and rs 2228611) and DNMT3B genes (rs 2424932, rs 1569686, rs 6119954 and rs 2424908) between the case and healthy control group. There were significant differences in the PANSS total positive symptom scores, P3 (hallucinatory behavior), P6 (suspicious/persecution), G7 (motor retardation), and G15 (preoccupation) in patients with different DNMT1 gene rs 2114724 and rs 2228611 genotypes. The linkage disequilibrium analysis of gene polymorphic loci revealed that rs 2114724–rs 2228611 was complete linkage disequilibrium, and rs 1569686–rs 2424908, rs 2424932–rs 1569696 and rs 2424932–rs 2424908 were strongly linkage disequilibrium. Conclusion The polymorphisms alteration in genetic pathway may be associated with development of specific clinical features in schizophrenia.

Abstract Endometriosis (EMS) is a prevalent gynecological condition lacking reliable diagnostic biomarkers. This prospective study aimed to analyze the potential of serum heat shock transcription factor 1 (HSF1) as a diagnostic marker for EMS. Clinical features of 92 EMS patients and 52 controls were recorded, revealing significant differences in dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, pelvic pain, nulliparity, and CA125 levels. Serum HSF1 was upregulated in EMS patients, with higher levels in American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) III/IV than ASRM I/II. Receiver operating characteristic curve analysis demonstrated good diagnostic function for serum HSF1 (AUC: 0.857, sensitivity: 91.30%, specificity: 63.46%). Serum HSF1, dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, and nulliparity were independent risk factors for EMS, while dysmenorrhea and serum HSF1 were independent risk factors for EMS severity. Additionally, the GSE25628 dataset was downloaded from the GEO database for differential analysis of gene expression. The HSF1 downstream target genes PTGES3, HSP90AA1, and HSPB1 showed significant differential expression in EMS, suggesting their involvement in the regulatory mechanism of HSF1 in EMS.

Poly(p-phenylene ethynylene) (PPE) molecular wires are one-dimensional materials with distinctive properties and can be applied in electronic devices. Here, the approach called first-principles quantum transport is utilized to investigate the PPE molecular wire field-effect transistor (FET) efficiency limit through the geometry of the gate-all-around (GAA) instrument. It is observed that the n-type GAA PPE molecular wire FETs with a suitable gate length (Lg = 5 nm) and underlap (UL = 1, 2, 3 nm) can gratify the on-state current (Ion), power dissipation (PDP), and delay period (τ) concerning the conditions in 2028 to achieve the higher performance (HP) request of the International Roadmap for Device and Systems (IRDS, 2022 version). In contrast, the p-type GAA PPE molecular wire FETs with Lg = 5, 3 nm, and UL of 1, 2, 3 nm could gratify the Ion, PDP, and τ concerning the 2028 needs to achieve the HP request of the IRDS in 2022, while Lg = 5 and UL = 3 nm could meet the Ion and τ concerning the 2028 needs to achieve the LP request of the IRDS in 2022. More importantly, this is the first one-dimensional carbon-based ambipolar FET. Therefore, the GAA PPE molecular wire FETs could be a latent choice to downscale Moore’s law to 3 nm.

BackgroundCoronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) may predispose patients to thrombotic disease in the venous and arterial circulations.MethodsBased on the current debate on antiplatelet therapy in COVID-19 patients, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate the effect of antiplatelet treatments. We searched PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, and Web of Science on February 1, 2023, and only included Randomized clinical trials. The study followed PRISMA guidelines and used Random-effects models to estimate the pooled percentage and its 95% CI.ResultsFive unique eligible studies were included, covering 17,950 patients with COVID-19. The result showed no statistically significant difference in the relative risk of all-cause death in antiplatelet therapy versus non-antiplatelet therapy (RR 0.94, 95% CI, 0.83-1.05, P = 0.26, I2 = 32%). Compared to no antiplatelet therapy, patients who received antiplatelet therapy had a significantly increased relative risk of major bleeding (RR 1.81, 95%CI 1.09-3.00, P = 0.02, I2 = 16%). The sequential analysis suggests that more RCTs are needed to draw more accurate conclusions. This systematic review and meta-analysis revealed that the use of antiplatelet agents exhibited no significant benefit on all-cause death, and the upper bound of the confidence interval on all-cause death (RR 95% CI, 0.83-1.05) suggested that it was unlikely to be a substantiated harm risk associated with this treatment. However, evidence from all RCTs suggested a high risk of major bleeding in antiplatelet agent treatments.ConclusionAccording to the results of our sequential analysis, there is not enough evidence available to support or negate the use of antiplatelet agents in COVID-19 cases. The results of ongoing and future well-designed, large, randomized clinical trials are needed.

BackgroundInflammation and lipid infiltration play crucial roles in the development of atherosclerosis. This study aimed to investigate the association between various complex indexes of blood cell types and lipid levels with the severity of coronary artery stenosis and their predictive value in coronary heart disease (CHD).MethodsThe retrospective study was conducted on 3,201 patients who underwent coronary angiography at the Department of Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University. The patients were divided into two groups: CHD group and non-CHD group. The CHD group was further classified into three subgroups (mild, moderate, severe) based on the tertiles of their Gensini score or SYNTAX score I. Various complex indexes of blood cell types and lipid levels were compared between the groups.ResultsIt revealed a positive correlation between all complex indexes and the severity of coronary artery stenosis. Background: Major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) are common in patients with hypertension and are associated with higher mortality. Methods: This study aimed to observe the incidence of MACE in hypertensive patients and the correlation between the electrocardiogram (ECG) T-wave abnormalities and echocardiographic changes. This retrospective cohort study analyzed the incidence of adverse cardiovascular events and changes in echocardiographic features in 430 hypertensive patients admitted to Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University from January 2016 to January 2022. Patients were grouped according to a diagnosis of electrocardiographic T-wave abnormalities. Results: Compared with the normal T-wave group, the incidence of adverse cardiovascular events was significantly higher in hypertensive patients with abnormal T-wave (141 [54.9%] vs 120 [69.4%], x^2 = 9.113, P = .003). However, Kaplan-Meier survival curve showed that no survival advantage was observed in the normal T-wave group at all in the hypertensive patients (P = .83). Echocardiographic values associated with cardiac structural markers, including ascending aorta diameter (AAO), left atrial diameter (LA), and interventricular septal thickness (IVS), were significantly higher in the group with abnormal T-wave than those in the group with normal T-wave at baseline and follow-up (P 65 years), hypertension history (>5 years), premature atrial beats, and severe valvular regurgitation were significantly associated with adverse cardiovascular events (P

Abstract Objective To determine the association between different antihypertensive regimens and cardiovascular disease (CVD) outcomes in hypertensive patients. Method This single center retrospective cohort study analyzed 602 hypertensive patients with complete medical records at Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, China, from January 2016 to November 2022. Baseline data and follow-up data of the included patients were collected, including demographic and clinical characteristics and laboratory results. Results During the 5-year follow-up period, CVD outcomes occurred in 244 hypertensive patients (40.53%). Abstract Background Circular RNA (circRNA) circ_0072088 has been reported to be associated with NSCLC cell growth, migration, and invasion. However, the role and mechanism of circ_0072088 on NSCLC development have not yet been determined. Methods Circ_0072088, microRNA‐1225 (miR‐1225‐5p), and Wilms' tumor (WT1) suppressor gene level was detected by reverse transcription‐quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT‐qPCR). Migration, invasion, and apoptosis were detected using transwell and flow cytometry assays. Matrix metallopeptidase 9 (MMP9), hexokinase 2 (HK2), and WT1 were examined using western blot assay. The biological role of circ_0072088 on NSCLC tumor growth was examined by the xenograft tumor model in vivo. Circular RNA Interactome and TargetScan were used to predict the binding between miR‐1225‐5p and circ_0072088 or WT1, followed by confirmation using a dual‐luciferase reporter. Results Circ_0072088 and WT1 were highly expressed in NSCLC tissues and cells, and miR‐1225‐5p was decreased. Knockdown of circ_0072088 might repress migration, invasion, and glycolysis, and facilitate apoptosis of NSCLC cells in vitro. Circ_0072088 silencing also blocked NSCLC tumor growth in vivo. Mechanistically, circ_0072088 acted as a sponge of miR‐1225‐5p to regulate WT1 expression. Conclusion Circ_0072088 knockdown could inhibit cell growth, migration, invasion, and glycolysis partially by regulating the miR‐1225‐5p/WT1 axis, thus providing a promising therapeutic target for NSCLC treatment.

This paper presents an ultra-wideband transformer feedback (TFB) monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) power amplifier (PA) developed using a 0.25 μm gallium nitride (GaN) process. To broaden the bandwidth, a drain-to-gate TFB technique is employed in this PA design, achieving a 117% relative −3 dB bandwidth, extending from 5.4 GHz to 20.3 GHz. At a 28 V supply, the designed PA circuit achieves an output power of 25.5 dBm and a 14 dB small-signal gain in the frequency range of 6 to 19 GHz. Within the 6 to 19 GHz frequency range, the small-signal gain exhibits a flatness of less than 0.78 dB. The PA chip occupies an area of 1.571 mm2. This work is the first to design a power amplifier with on-chip transformer feedback in a compound semiconductor MMIC process, and it enables the use of the widest bandwidth power amplifier on-chip transformer matching network.

Background: As a dedifferentiated tumor, small cell endometrial neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are rare and frequently diagnosed at an advanced stage with a poor prognosis. Current treatment recommendations are often extrapolated from histologically similar tumors in other sites or based on retrospective studies. The exploration for diagnostic and therapeutic markers in small cell NETs is of great significance. Methods: In this study, we conducted single-cell RNA sequencing on a specimen obtained from a patient diagnosed with small cell endometrial neuroendocrine carcinoma (SCNEC) based on pathology. We revealed the cell map and intratumoral heterogeneity of the cancer cells through data analysis. Further, we validated the function of ISL LIM Homeobox 1 (ISL1) in vitro in an established neuroendocrine cell line. Finally, we examined the association between ISL1 and tumor staging in small cell lung cancer (SCLC) patient samples. Results: We observed the significant upregulation of ISL1 expression in tumor cells that showed high expression of the neuroepithelial markers. Additionally, in vitro cell function experiments demonstrated that the high ISL1 expression group exhibited markedly higher cell proliferation and migration abilities compared to the low expression group. Finally, we showed that the expression level of ISL1 was correlated with SCLC stages. Conclusions: ISL1 protein in NETs shows promise as a potential biomarker for diagnosis and treatment.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic performance of multiparametric ultrasound (mpUS; grayscale US, color Doppler US, strain elastography, and contrast-enhanced US) in the assessment of testicular lesions with negative tumoral markers. MpUS imaging data, patient age, serum tumor markers, scrotal pain, cryptorchidism, and related clinical information were retrospectively collected for patients who underwent mpUS examination between January 2013 and December 2019. Histologic results or follow-up examinations were used as the reference standard. In total, 83 lesions from 79 patients were included in the analysis. Fifty-six patients were finally diagnosed with benign tumors, and 23 patients were ultimately diagnosed with malignant tumors. Chi-square tests or Fisher's exact tests were used to assess the difference between the two groups. Stepwise multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that lesion diameter (odds ratio [OR] = 1.072, P = 0.005), vascularization on color Doppler US (OR = 4.066, P = 0.001), and hyperenhancement during the early phase (OR = 6.465, P = 0.047) were significant independent risk factors for malignancy; however, when compared with neoplastic lesions, pain (OR = 0.136, P < 0.001), absence of vascularization on color Doppler US (OR = 1.680, P = 0.042), and nonenhancement during the late phase (OR = 3.461, P = 0.031) were strongly associated with nonneoplastic lesions. MpUS features are useful for differentiating testicular lesions with negative tumoral markers and improving the preoperative diagnosis, which may avoid inappropriate radical orchiectomy.

Abstract Omeprazole and sodium bicarbonate dry suspension are effective treatments for acid-related disorders. This study compared the bioequivalence and safety of the two formulations of omeprazole and sodium bicarbonate powder and assessed how CYP2C19 gene polymorphisms affect pharmacokinetics (PK). A single-center, randomized, single-dose, 2-sequence and 2-period crossover method was performed in forty healthy Chinese subjects. Blood samples were collected after a single dose for PK (AUC0–∞, AUC0–t, and Cmax) analysis. The concentrations of Omeprazole in human plasma were determined by HPLC–MS/MS. Besides, the gene polymorphisms of CYP2C19 were assessed by Sanger sequencing. The geometric mean ratios (90% confidence interval) [GMR (95% CI)] of Test/Reference preparation for Cmax: 95.2% (88.48%, 102.43%), AUC0–t: 97.47% (94.4%, 101.02%), AUC0–∞: 97.68% (94.27%, 101.21%) were within the range of 80.00–125.00%. The non-parametric test showed no statistical difference in Tmax between the two groups (p > 0.05). All drugs were well tolerated, no severe adverse reactions occurred, and no significant differences in adverse events between the two drugs. For CYP2C19 gene polymorphisms, the results showed that of 40 subjects, 12 subjects were extensive metabolizers, 24 were intermediate metabolizers, and 4 were poor metabolizers, the frequency of metabolic genotypes were 30%, 60%, and 10%. And the allele distributions for CYP2C19 were *1, *2, and *3 at 60%, 38.75%, and 1.25%. Both the CYP2C19 alleles and metabolic genotypes were consistent with other studies in Chinese. The results of PK parameters showed that different genotypes of CYP2C19 lead to significant differences in t1/2, AUC0–t, AUC0–∞ and Cmax, but no significant differences in Tmax in each group. At the same time, we confirmed that the PK parameters of the test and reference had no differences between the males and females. This study has shown that the pharmacokinetic parameters of the two formulations are not significantly different, which showed bioequivalence and exemplary safety. CYP2C19 gene polymorphism significantly differed in the PK parameters of omeprazole sodium bicarbonate powder.

Abstract Structure has been considered to play an important role in photocatalytic performance of the semiconductors, but the intrinsic factors were rarely revealed. Herein, ZnO nanomaterials in the structures of thin film, nanowire array and nanosheet array were synthesized, and their structural characteristics, optical properties, photocurrent response and photocatalytic efficiency were compared with each other for illustrating the issue. The photoluminescence intensity decreased in the order of nanosheets, thin film and nanowires for improved lifetime of the photoexcited charges. The absorption of the nanosheets and nanowires improved obviously in the visible range with a redshift of the absorption edge than that of the thin film. The nanowires possessed the highest response current of 82.65 μA at a response time of 2.0 ms in a sensitivity of 87.93 at the light frequency of 1 Hz, and gained the largest catalytic efficiency of 2.45 μg/cm2 h for the methylene blue degradation in UV light. Nevertheless, the improvement of catalytic efficiency of the nanosheets (up to 42.4%) was much larger than that of nanowires (5.7%) and thin film (2.6%) for the Au coating. The analysis revealed that the photocatalytic efficiency of the ZnO nanomaterials was modulated by the structure as it contained different surface area, roughness, defect and doping states, vacancies, polar and non-polar crystalline faces, which would provide structural design of semiconductor nanomaterials for the photoelectric and photocatalytic applications.

Generally, an optical switch is only suitable for a narrow and particular field. In this paper, a microfluidic matrix optical switch based on the electrowetting-on-dielectric driving technology is proposed, which can be applied in a wide range of optical communication and optoelectronic systems. It has the advantages of simple structure, convenient operation, polarization independence and easy integration of large matrix switches. Here the structure and working principle of this matrix optical switch are given, and the matrix driving circuit is designed. The operating voltage of the optical switch is 58V. The results show that the response time is 120 ms from "on" to "off" and is 100 ms from "off" to "on". The insertion loss is 0.26 dB, which is much lower than that of general matrix optical switches, and the extinction ratio is 139.7 dB. Moreover, two application schemes are given, namely, a photoelectricity display and a multi-beam array switch. Our work can provide a new idea for large-scale integrated matrix switches and promote the application of optofluidics in optoelectronic systems.

ObjectiveDyslipidemia is a key risk factor for coronary artery disease (CAD). This study aimed to investigate the correlation between the atherogenic index of plasma (AIP) and the severity of CAD.Methods2,491 patients were enrolled in this study and analyzed retrospectively, including 665 non-CAD patients as the control group and 1,826 CAD patients. The CAD patients were classified into three subgroups according to tertiles of SYNTAX score (SS). Under the background that the spot market has not yet been fully established, the risk of coal price fluctuation lacks an effective mechanism to transmit to users. During the period of high coal prices, coal-fired units suffered serious losses and the willingness to generate electricity declined extremely, which was not conducive to the stable growth of the national economy. To solve the above problems, after investigating domestic and foreign solutions, this paper conceived a designing idea for the index-based long-term electricity market contract suitable for the current electricity market. Based on the actual data from a province in China, the specific parameters of index-based contract were designed and the profit of units were analyzed. The results show that the profit fluctuations of the coal-fired units will be significantly reduced after the trading contract adopted. In the end, the key issues of trading contract and the impact on market entities were discussed.

This paper presents a microfluidic multifunctional device, which can flexibly change the light input energy by using the effect of Electrowetting-on-Dielectric(EWOD). It can also realize multiple functions of variable aperture, variable optical attenuator and optical switch. The utility model has the advantages of simple structure, small volume, simple operation, wide application, flexibility and low cost. In this paper, the optical characteristics of the proposed microfluidic multifunctional device are analyzed and discussed, and the structure is optimized. The results show that the insertion loss of the proposed microfluidic multifunctional device is as small as only 0.014 dB. The aperture of the liquid variable aperture varies from 0 to 0.506 mm. In theory, the variable optical attenuator has a variable attenuation range of 0 ~100%, and the attenuation can reach 40.2 dB when the applied voltage is 91.1 V. The state microfluidic optical switch is " off" when there is no applied voltage and the state is " on" when the applied voltage is greater than 135 V.

Abstract Sodium metal, with a high theoretical specific capacity of 1165 mAh g−1, is the ultimate anode for sodium batteries, yet how to deal with the inhomogeneous and dendritic sodium deposition and the infinite relative dimension change of sodium metal anodes during sodium depositing/stripping is still challenging. Here, a facile fabricated sodiuphilic 2D N‐doped carbon nanosheets (N‐CSs) are proposed as sodium host material for sodium metal batteries (SMBs) to prevent dendrite formation and eliminate volume change during cycling. Revealing from combined in situ characterization analyses and theoretical simulations, the high nitrogen content and porous nanoscale interlayer gaps of the 2D N‐CSs can not only concede dendrite‐free sodium stripping/depositing but also accommodate the infinite relative dimension change. Furthermore, N‐CSs can be easily process into N‐CSs/Cu electrode via traditional commercial battery electrode coating equipment that pave the way for large‐scale industrial applications. On account of the abundant nucleation sites and sufficient deposition space, N‐CSs/Cu electrodes demonstrate a superior cycle stability of more than 1500 h at a current density of 2 mA cm−2 with a high coulomb efficiency of more than 99.9% and ultralow nucleation overpotential, which enable reversible and dendrites‐free SMBs and shed light on further development of SMBs with even higher performance.

The biodiversity of litter can regulate carbon and nutrient cycling during mixed decomposition. It is common knowledge that the decomposition rates of mixed litters frequently deviate from those predicted for these component litter species. However, the direction and magnitude of the nonadditive effects on the degradation of mixed litters remain difficult to predict. Previous studies have reported that the different carbon fractions of leaf litters responded to litter mixture differently, which may help to explain the ambiguous nonadditive effect of diversity on bulk litter decomposition. Therefore, we conducted decomposition experiments on 32 litter mixtures from seven common tree species to test the responses of different carbon fractions to litter diversity in subtropical forests. We found that the overall mass loss of the mixed litter was faster than that estimated from single species. The relative mixing effects (RMEs) of different carbon fractions exhibited different patterns to litter diversity and were driven by different aspects of litter functional dissimilarity. Soluble carbon fractions decomposed more slowly than expected from single species, while lignin fractions decayed more quickly. Moreover, we found that the RMEs of bulk litter decomposition may be determined by the lignin fraction decomposition. Our findings further support that distinguishing the response of different carbon fractions to litter diversity is important for elucidating the nonadditive effects of total litter decomposition.

Background:The atherogenic index of plasma (AIP), determined by the logarithmic transformation of the ratio of triglyceride (TG) and high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), was found to be a marker of cardiovascular disease. We sought to investigate the correlation between the atherogenic AIP and coronary collateral circulation (CCC) formation in chronic total occlusive (CTOs) patients. Methods: This retrospective cohort study included 665 non-CTOs and 345 CTOs patients. CTOs were divided into 206 CCC poor formation patients and 139 CCC good formation patients according to the Cohen-Rentrop grade. Spearman correlation analysis was carried out to obtain the relationship between AIP and the Rentrop grade. We used multivariate logistic regression analysis to assess CTOs and CCC poor formation risk factors. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were used to determine the optimal threshold for AIP to predict CTOs and CCC poor formation. The predicted increment of AIP on CTOs and CCC poor formation was evaluated by calculating the Net Reclassification Index (NRI) and the Integrated Discriminant Index (IDI). Results: AIP in CTOs was significantly elevated compared to non-CTOs patients [(1.55 (1.02, 2.59)) vs (1.26 (0.82, 1.90)), p < 0.001] AIP in the CCC poor formation group was significantly higher than that in the CCC good formation group [(1.73 (1.12, 2.90)) vs (1.37 (0.84, 2.13)), p = 0.002]. There was a negative correlation between AIP and the Rentrop grade (r = –0.145, p = 0.007). The results of multivariate logistic regression revealed that AIP was an independent predictor of CTOs (OR = 4.371, 95% CI: 2.436–7.844, p < 0.001) and CCC poor formation (OR = 3.749, 95% CI: 1.628–8.635, p = 0.002). In the ROC analysis, the area under the curve of AIP for identifying CTOs and CCC poor formation was 0.596 (OR = 3.680, 95% CI: 1.490–9.090, p = 0.005) and 0.597 (95% CI: 0.535–0.658, p = 0.002), respectively. Conclusions: Contrary to previous research, we found that AIP is a moderate but not powerful indicator for detecting both CTO patients and poor CCC formation.

Abstract Background Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and gallstone disease (GSD) often coexist in the general population owing to shared risk factors. This study explored the relationship between NAFLD and GSD in patients with type 2 diabetes. Methods We conducted a retrospective cross-sectional analysis of 4325 patients with type 2 diabetes. GSD and NAFLD were confirmed using ultrasonography. GSD was defined as either asymptomatic gallstones or previous cholecystectomy, and each was analyzed separately. Result There was no significant difference in the prevalence of GSD between patients with and without NAFLD (23.8% vs. 21.2%, P = 0.15). Perovskite solar cells(PSCs) are paid much attention due to simple preparation and high photoelectric conversion efficiency. Carbon nanofiber films(CNFs) prepared by electrospinning have high specific surface area, electrical properties and chemical stability, but the application in PSCs is limited due to their brittleness. The flexible and conductive Ag/ZrO2/C composite nanofiber films were prepared by electrospinning and hydrothermal method. After that, it was applied as the counter electrode of flexible PSCs and the effect of Ag nanoparticles with different concentrations on the performance of the composite nanofiber films and the PSCs were studied. The results show that when the concentration of precursor solution rises from 0 g/mL to 0.030 g/mL, the coating effect of Ag nanoparticles on the Ag/ZrO2/C composite nanofiber improves obviously and all the composite nanofiber films display the excellent flexibility and modulus of elasticity (0.479 MPa), meanwhile, the conductivity of the films increases from 866 S/m to 4862 S/m, so as to enhance the hole-electron transport capacity of the films and the performance of flexible PSCs. When the solution concentration is 0.030 g/mL, the PSCs have best photoelectric conversion efficiency(PCE) of 6.05% and optimal current density (18.44 mA/cm2). It is of great significance to further improve the performance of flexible PSCs and the application of flexible carbon nanofiber films.

Flashbulb memory (FBM) is viewed as a special type of autobiographical memory due to its richness of individuals’ self-related details when hearing the news and the long duration. It also helps shape people’s impression of public events to some extent. Given that personal involvement is one of the important antecedent variables of FBM, this study proposed to investigate it from spatiotemporal involvement (spatiotemporal distance) and empathic involvement (empathy level) to explore the impact of personal involvement on the formation of FBM during the Covid-19 pandemic. In particular, digital media dependency was considered in the influence of involvement on the FBM since it is a crucial information source for individuals and a path to spread information about their lives and work during the pandemic. In this study, a total of 546 valid questionnaires (from May 1, 2022, to May 7, 2022) and 349 valid questionnaires (from May 10, 2022, to May 17, 2022) were collected through a two-stage online survey in Shanghai, China towards the epidemic wave at the end of March 2022. The mediating mode of digital media dependency was also examined on personal involvement in FBM performance, which consists of FBM specificity, confidence, and consistency. Results showed that empathic involvement had a significant negative influence on FBM specificity, namely the higher the empathy level was, the worse the FBM specificity would be, in which digital media dependency played a suppressing effect. Individuals’ spatiotemporal involvement was proved to have a significant positive influence on FBM specificity and consistency. It was one of the first to investigate the FBM formation process around “small peak” events in the context of the ongoing pandemic. Innovatively, empathy was adopted as the index of memory arousal for empathic involvement, and digital media dependency was considered an important mediator variable in the memory study. The research results have practical significance for promoting the process of epidemic recovery integrated with digital media and can provide a social reference for the shaping process of disaster memory from the perspective of digital information and emotional transmission.

Abstract Malignant proliferation and metastasis are the hallmarks of cancer cells. Aminated [70]fullerene exhibits notable antineoplastic effects, promoting it a candidate for multi‐targeted cancer drugs. It is an urgent need to reveal the structure–activity relationship for antineoplastic aminated fullerenes. Herein, three amphiphilic derivatives of [60]fullerene with clarified molecular structures are synthesized: TAPC‐4, TAPC‐3, and TCPC‐4. TAPC‐4 inhibits the proliferation of diverse tumor cells via G0/G1 cell cycle arrest, reverses the epithelial–mesenchymal transition, and abrogates the high mobility of tumor cells. TAPC‐4 can be excreted from the organism and achieves an in vivo inhibition index of 75.5% in tumor proliferation and 87.5% in metastatic melanoma with a wide safety margin. Molecular dynamics simulations reveal that the amphiphilic molecular structure and the ending amino groups promote the targeting of TAPC‐4 to heat shock protein Hsp90‐beta, vimentin, and myosin heavy chain 9 (MYH9), probably resulting in the alteration of cyclin D1 translation, vimentin expression, and MYH9 location, respectively. This work initially emphasizes the dominant role of the amphiphilic structure and the terminal amino moieties in the antineoplastic effects of aminated fullerenes, providing fundamental support for their anti‐tumor drug development.

Background and aimsRecently, several randomized trials have shown that patients with multivessel disease (MVD) often pursue complete revascularization during percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) to improve their prognosis. However, the optimal time for the non-culprit artery has been controversial. This study aimed to determine the optimal strategy for revascularization in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients with multivessel coronary artery disease (CAD).MethodsRandomized controlled trials (RCTs) comparing three revascularization strategies [i.e., complete revascularization at the index procedure (CR), complete revascularization as a staged procedure (SR), or culprit-only revascularization (COR)] in STEMI patients with multivessel coronary artery disease were included. We performed both pairwise and network meta-analyses. Network meta-analysis was performed using mixed treatment comparison models.Results17 trials with 8568 patients were included. In the network meta-analysis, the most interesting finding was that staged revascularization increased the risk of major adverse cardiac events (MACE) compared with complete revascularization at the index procedure [odds ratio (OR): 1.93; 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.07–3.49]. In the pairwise meta-analysis, complete revascularization reduced the incidence of MACE [risk ratio (RR): 0.62, 95% CI: 0.48–0.79, p < 0.001], mainly because it reduced the probability of unplanned repeat revascularization (RR: 0.49, 95% CI: 0.33–0.75, p = 0.001). There were no significant differences in all-cause mortality, cardiac mortality, or nonfatal re-myocardial infarction (MI).ConclusionOur analysis suggests that complete revascularization should be performed in STEMI patients with multivessel coronary artery disease, and complete revascularization at the index procedure is superior to staged revascularization in reducing the risk of MACE events.

Abstract Objective The present study investigated the potential correlation between non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol/high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (non-HDL-C/HDL) and the formation of coronary collateral circulation (CCC) in coronary artery disease cases with chronic total occlusive (CTO) lesions. Methods Two experienced cardiologists identified and selected patients with CTO lesions for retrospective analysis. The 353 patients were divided into a CCC poor formation group (Rentrop 0–1 grade, n = 209) and a CCC good formation group (Rentrop 2–3 grade, n = 144) based on the Cohen-Rentrop standard. A comparison of non-HDL-C/HDL ratios between the two groups was performed. The Spearman test was used to obtain the correlation between the cholesterol ratio and Rentrop grade. Independent predictors of CCC were analyzed using logistic regression. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was also performed to quantify the predictive value of research indicator. Results The non-HDL-C/HDL ratio in the CCC poor formation group was elevated markedly compared to the CCC good formation group [( 3.86 ± 1.40) vs ( 3.31 ± 1.22), P = 0.000]. The Spearman test results indicated that non-HDL-C/HDL negatively correlated with Rentrop grade (r = − 0.115, P = 0.030). Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that non-HDL-C/HDL ratio was an independent predictor of CCC formation (OR = 1.195, 95%CI = 1.020–1.400, P = 0.027). The area under the curve of ROC for detecting CCC poor formation was 0.611 (95% CI: 0.551–0.671, P = 0.000) with an optimal cut-off value of 2.77. Conclusion Non-HDL-C/HDL negatively correlated with the formation of CCC and served as an independent predictor of CCC formation, which may be used as a biomarker for the evaluation of CCC.

Abstract Xuezhikang (XZK) is an extract of Chinese red yeast rice. It has multiple protective effects in cardiovascular systems. However, the underlying mechanism by which XZK affects free fatty acid (FFA)-induced lipogenesis in hepatocellular steatosis model is still unknown. Herein, we investigated this mechanism in HepG2 cells. The HepG2 cells were treated with palmitate acid (PA) to induce lipogenesis. Then the PA-induced HepG2 cells were subsequently treated with XZK. After 24 h of treatment, we determined the intracellular triglyceride (TG) contents and average areas of lipid droplets. To study the involvement of AMPK signaling pathway, we pre-treated the PA-induced HepG2 cells with Compound C, an AMPK inhibitor, before XZK treatment. Expressions of p-AMPK and AMPK were determined by Western blot. The results showed that XZK decreased TG content and lipid accumulation in hepatocellular steatosis model. Compound C abolished the effects of XZK. These results demonstrated for the first time that XZK protects hepatocytes against lipid accumulation induced by free fatty acids. Its effects may be mediated by the activation of AMPK pathway.

BackgroundRecent studies have shown that the 4G/5G insertion/deletion variant of SERPINE1 (rs1799889) is closely linked to coronary artery disease (CAD). This study aims to clarify the effects of the rs1799889 variant on lipid levels and to insight into the mechanisms underlying the rs1799889 variant and CAD.Methods and ResultsBy searching PubMed and the Cochrane databases for studies published before 31 October 2021, 40 studies conducted on a total of 13,117 subjects were included for the analysis. The consistent findings for the effects of the 5G allele of rs1799889 variant on lipid metabolism were the significantly decreased triglycerides (TG) [standardized mean difference (SMD) = –0.12, 95% CI = –0.21 to 0.03, P = 0.01], total cholesterol (TC) (SMD = –0.12, 95% CI = –0.17 to 0.06, P < 0.001), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) (SMD = –0.13, 95% CI = –0.23 to 0.03, P = 0.01) levels. Intriguingly, the significant effects of the rs1799889 variant on LDL-C (SMD = –0.15, 95% CI = –0.26 to 0.05, P < 0.01) and TC (SMD = –0.17, 95% CI = –0.27 to 0.07, P < 0.01) levels were primarily observed in the Asian population. However, the significant effect of the rs1799889 variant on high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) (SMD = 0.26, 95% CI = 0.03–0.48, P = 0.03) levels was detected only in female subjects.ConclusionThe rs1799889 variant of SERPINE1 is a protective genetic factor against CAD, the Asian population with the 5G allele of the rs1799889 variant may have a reduced CAD risk.

Out-of-plane p-n heterojunctions based on two-dimensional layered materials (2DLMs) with unusual physical characteristics are attracting extensive research attention for their application as photodetectors. However, the present fabrication method based on 2DLMs produces out-of-plane p-n homojunction devices with low photoresponsivity and detectivity. This work reports an ultrasensitive phototransistor based on a laser-induced p-doped WSe2/MoS2 van der Waals heterojunction. The laser treatment is used for p-doping WSe2 nanoflakes using high work function WOx. Then, an n-type MoS2 nanoflake is transferred onto the resulting p-doped WSe2 nanoflake. The built-in electric field of p-doped WSe2/MoS2 is stronger than that of pristine WSe2/MoS2. The p-n junction between p-doped WSe2 and MoS2 can separate more photogenerated electron–hole pairs and inject more electrons into MoS2 under laser illumination than pristine WSe2/MoS2. Thus, a high photoresponsivity (R) of ~1.28 × 105 A·W−1 and high specific detectivity (D*) of ~7.17 × 1013 Jones are achieved under the illumination of a 633 nm laser, which is approximately two orders higher than the best phototransistor based on a WSe2/MoS2 heterojunction. Our work provides an effective and simple method to enhance photoresponsivity and detectivity in two-dimensional (2D) heterojunction phototransistors, indicating the potential applications in fabricating high-performance photodetectors based on 2DLMs.

Piophila casei is a flesh-feeding Diptera insect that adversely affects foodstuffs, such as dry-cured ham and cheese, and decaying human and animal carcasses. However, the unknown mitochondrial genome of P. casei can provide information on its genetic structure and phylogenetic position, which is of great significance to the research on its prevention and control. Therefore, we sequenced, annotated, and analyzed the previously unknown complete mitochondrial genome of P. casei. The complete mt genome of P. casei is a typical circular DNA, 15,785 bp in length, with a high A + T content of 76.6%. It contains 13 protein-coding genes (PCG), 2 ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes, 22 transfer RNA (tRNA) genes, and 1 control region. Phylogenetic analysis of 25 Diptera species was conducted using Bayesian and maximum likelihood methods, and their divergence times were inferred. The comparison of the mt genomes from two morphologically similar insects P. casei and Piophila megastigmata indicates a divergence time of 7.28 MYA between these species. The study provides a reference for understanding the forensic medicine, taxonomy, and genetics of P. casei.

Polyhydroxy alcohol-mediated curing has great potential for producing low-salt cured meat products. This study investigated the mass transfer kinetics and the one-way diffusion simulation of sodium chloride (NaCl) during the curing process. Furthermore, Fick’s second law determined the NaCl diffusion coefficient (De) of xylitol-mediated cured pork tenderloin. The results demonstrated that adding xylitol could reduce the De of NaCl. The De of NaCl, calculated using the one-way model, was 1.29 × 10−9 m2·s−1, 1.22 × 10−9 m2·s−1, 1.2 × 10−9 m2·s−1, and 1.15 × 10−9 m2·s−1 when the amount of xylitol added was 0%, 4%, 8%, and 12% (w/w), respectively. This result agrees with the predicted values from the power function time-varying model. Moreover, a three-dimensional simulating model of mass transfers constructed using COMSOL Multiphysics was developed to evaluate the NaCl diffusion in pork tenderloin during the curing process. This model has high accuracy and can be used to describe the diffusion of NaCl in curing. Overall, this study provided a foundation for NaCl diffusion and distribution during the curing process.

Ferroptosis is a novel form of programmed iron-dependent cell death. The ferroptosis-related genes (FRGs) have been recognized as biomarkers for cancers. Increasing evidence has indicated that ferroptosis is involved in the process of atherosclerosis. However, the potential FRGs used for the diagnosis, prognosis and therapy for atherosclerosis are still unclear. We aimed to identify the ferroptosis-related differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of atherosclerosis. We downloaded the mRNA-sequencing data of patients with atherosclerosis from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database. HMOX1 was identified as an essential ferroptosis-related DEG by bioinformatic analysis of the GSE28829 and GSE43292 datasets. The pro-ferroptotic effect of HMOX1 was validated through cell experiments. Then we conducted a single-gene analysis of HMOX1 and found that high-expression of HMOX1 in atherosclerotic plaques was accompanied by matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) producing and M0 macrophages infiltration. Taken together, our present study suggested HMOX1 as a potential diagnostic biomarker for atherosclerosis and provided more evidence about the vital role of ferroptosis in atherosclerosis progression.

Objective: This study aimed to investigate the association between brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and cyclic adenosine monophosphate response element binding protein (CREB) gene polymorphisms and schizophrenia.Methods: This study used a case-control design, and diagnoses were made based on the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders-Fifth Edition criteria. One hundred and thirty-four patients with schizophrenia were recruited from the Third People’s Hospital of Zhongshan City from January 2018 to April 2020. Sixty-four healthy controls were recruited from the same region. Genotypes at the BDNF gene single nucleotide polymorphisms rs11030101, rs2030324, and rs6265 and the CREB gene single nucleotide polymorphisms rs6740584 and rs2551640 were determined using a MassARRAY mass spectrometer. Linkage disequilibrium and haplotype analyses were performed, and genotype and allele frequencies were compared between groups. The positive and negative symptom scale (PANSS) was used to evaluate the association between the BDNF and CREB gene polymorphisms and schizophrenic symptoms.Results: There was no significant difference in genotype or allele frequencies for rs11030101, rs2030324, rs6265, rs6740584, or rs2551640 between schizophrenic patients and controls (p > 0.05). In addition, there were no significant differences in rs11030101, rs2030324, rs6265, rs6740584, or rs2551640 genotype frequencies between the two groups in the dominant, recessive, or over-dominant models (p > 0.05). Three loci in the BDNF gene and two loci in the CREB gene were in a state of strong linkage disequilibrium. The frequency of haplotype AAC (rs11030101/rs2030324/rs626), composed of three loci in the BDNF gene, was significantly increased in schizophrenic patients compared with control subjects. There were significant differences in the subscores of PANSSS for negative symptoms, in patients with different rs11030101 genotypes of the BDNF gene (p < 0.05). There was also significant differences in the PANSS scores for the general symptom G12 (judgment and lack of insight) in patients with different rs6265 genotypes of the BDNF gene (p < 0.05).Conclusion: The BDNF gene rs11030101/rs2030324/rs6265 AAC haplotype was potentially associated with an increased risk of schizophrenia. In addition, genotypes at the rs11030101 and rs6265 loci may affect the negative symptoms and general symptoms of schizophrenic patients, respectively.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition for which early identification and intervention is crucial for optimum prognosis. Our previous work showed gut Immunoglobulin A (IgA) to be significantly elevated in the gut lumen of children with ASD compared to typically developing (TD) children. Gut microbiota variations have been reported in ASD, yet not much is known about virulence factor-related gut microbiota (VFGM) genes. Upon determining the VFGM genes distinguishing ASD from TD, this study is the first to utilize VFGM genes and IgA levels for a machine learning-based classification of ASD. Sequence comparisons were performed of metagenome datasets from children with ASD (n = 43) and TD children (n = 31) against genes in the virulence factor database. VFGM gene composition was associated with ASD phenotype. VFGM gene diversity was higher in children with ASD and positively correlated with IgA content. As Group B streptococcus (GBS) genes account for the highest proportion of 24 different VFGMs between ASD and TD and positively correlate with gut IgA, GBS genes were used in combination with IgA and VFGMs diversity to distinguish ASD from TD. Given that VFGM diversity, increases in IgA, and ASD-enriched VFGM genes were independent of sex and gastrointestinal symptoms, a classification method utilizing them will not pertain only to a specific subgroup of ASD. By introducing the classification value of VFGM genes and considering that VFs can be isolated in pregnant women and newborns, these findings provide a novel machine learning-based early risk identification method for ASD.
