Hill operatörü olarak da bilinen periyodik katsayılı diferansiyel operatörlerin spektral analizi son yıllarda matematikte hızlı gelişen alanlardan biri olmuştur. Özellikle genelleşmiş potansiyele sahip periyodik diferansiyel denklemlerin spektral analizi fizik ve matematiğin ortak ilgili alanlarındandır. Bu çalışmada katsayıları genelleşmiş fonksiyonlar olan Sturm-Liouville operatörlerinin kuadratik demetinin spektral özellikleri incelenmiştir. Buradaki önemli nokta verilen potansiyelin birinci dereceden genelleşmiş fonksiyon olmasıdır. Yapılan çalışma sonucunda incelenen denklemin spektrum aralıkları tespit edilerek, spektrum yapısı hakkında bilgi verilmiş ve daha sonra özfonksiyonlar üzerine açılım formülleri bulunmuştur. The spectral analysis of differential operators with periodic coefficients also known Hill operator is the one of the branch rapidly improving in mathematics. Especially, the spectral analysis of periodic differential equations with generalized potential is a common interest branch of physics and mathematics.In this study, the spectral properties of pencil of Sturm-Liouville operator with generalized potential was investigated. It is important here that the potential is generalized function. In the result of studied, the spectral intervals were determined and given an information about the structure of spectrum and then eigenfunction expansions were found. 80

This processes are shortened and simplified by the graph method. In this study, after basic information related to graph method is given, the orders of general Runge-Kutta methods are investigated by this method. In addition, using the graph method, the order of a recently derived multistep- Rosenbrock type method is determined and the stability analysis of this method is investigated. Periyodik katsayılı diferansiyel denklemler hem matematikçiler hem fizikçiler için oldukça önemlidir. Bu tezde, periyodik diferansiyel denklemlerin spektral analizini inceledik. Floquet teorisi periyodik diferansiyel denklemler için çok önemli olduğundan, öncelikle Floquet teorisini tanıttık ve problemimize uyguladık. Bu teoriyi kullanarak ve aynı zamanda karakteristik fonksiyonu analiz ederek problemin kararlılık ve kararsızlık aralıklarını belirledik. Differential equations with periodic coefficients are of considerable interest to both mathematicians and physicists. In this thesis, we studied the spectral analysis of periodic differential equations. Since the Floquet theory is very important for the periodic differential equations, first we introduced the Floquet theory and applied to our considered problem. By using this theory and analysing of the function , which is also called discriminant, we determined the stability and instability intervals of the problem. 55

Bu çalışmada genel ağırlıklı ikinci mertebeden bir fark denklemini inceleyeceğiz. Verilen denklemi bir diğer aynı türdeki genel ağırlıklı ikinci mertebeden denkleme dönüştüren iki dönüşümü çalışacağız. Halihazırda bu dönüşümler Crum dönüşümüne dayandırılmıştır. Bu tez, her n tamsayısı için tam olarak n tane özdeğere sahip düzenli kendine-eş ve kendine-eş olmayan Sturm-Lioville problemlerinin bir sınıfının oluşturulması gerçeğini temel almıştır. Bu tezde öncelikle daha sonra Atkinson denklemi olarak adlandırılacak olan bir tür Sturm-Lioville problemi tanımlayacağız. Öyle ki; bu türden denklemin, ayrık ve reel ayrık olmayan kendine-eş sınır şartıyla birlikte oluşturduğu Sturm-Lioville problemi sonlu boyutlu matris özdeğer problemi şeklinde bir temsile sahiptir. This thesis based on the fact that for every integer n, we construct a class of regular self-adjoint and non-self-adjoint Sturm-Lioville problems with axactly n eigenvalues. In this thesis, first we define a class of Sturm-Liouville equations will be named with Atkinson equation such that any Sturm-Lioville problem consisting of such an equation and an arbitrary seperated and coupled real self-adjoint boundary condition has a represantation as an equivalent finite dimension matrix eigenvalue problem. Then conversely, given any matrix eigenvalue problem of certain type and an arbitrary separated or coupled real self-adjoint boundary condition, we construct a class of Sturm–Liouville problems with the specified boundary condition, each of which is equivalent to the given matrix eigenvalue problem. Equivalent here means that they have exactly the same eigenvalues. We considered two type Sturm-Lioville problem which are regular Sturm-Lioville problem and Sturm-Lioville problem with transmission condition. 61

Türevindeki süreksizliği önceden belirlenmemiş fakat kendiliğinden ortaya çıkan, tek ve iki aralıklı Sturm-Liouville problemleri için Green fonksiyonu inşaa edilmiştir. Bu tezin amacı bu fikri genişletmek ve sonlu sayıdaki aralık durumu için Green fonksiyonunu inşaa etmektir. The Green's function has been constructed for one-interval and two-interval Sturm-Liouville problems in which the discontinuity of its derivative is not determined beforehand but occurs on its own. This thesis seeks to extend that idea and construct the Green's function for finitely many intervals case. We consider the second order scalar differential equation with its boundary conditions and convert it to its equivalent first order linear system. From this conversion, we formulate the characteristic function whose zeroes are the eigenvalues of the homogeneous system. In addition, we construct the generalized matrix Green's function from which we get the top right component as the Green's function for finitely many intervals Sturm-Liouville problems. 53

Bu tezde bir noktada süreksizliğe sahip Sturm-Liouville problemine denk olan fark denkleminin ve buradan elde edilen kompleks elemanlara sahip üçköşegensel matrisin spektral verisi incelenmiştir. Tekil özelliğe sahip bir iç noktada bu problem üçköşengensel matris için araştırılmıştır. In this thesis, the spectral data of difference equation which is equivalent to Sturm-Liouville problem which has discontinuous at a point, and tridiagonal matrix with complex entries derived from the difference equation are studied. This problem has been investigated for tridiagonal matrix at an interior point which has singular property. Firstly, the generalized spectral function is described for this matrix, and then the eigenvalues of the tridiagonal matrix and inverse spectral problem with regard to this generalized spectral function are investigated. After the structure of the generalized spectral function is studied, some examples are given to illustrate the structure of function and inverse spectral problem. Finally the definition of spectral data is given, inverse spectral problems for spectral data and for two spectra are investigated and the matrix is reconstructed. 84

Kendine-eş, ikinci mertebeden diferansiyel denklem, adi diferansiyel denklemlerin klasik teoremlerianlamında çalışılmıştır. Bu tezde, biz aynı teoremleri Poincare faz düzlem analizinin bir genelleştirilmesi olan Prüfer dönüşümlerini kullanarak ispatladık. Bu ispatlaraSturm karşılaştırma ve ayırma teoremleri ile başladık ve daha sonra çözümlerinsınırlılığı için gerekli ve yeterli koşulları bulmak üzere yukarıdaki denkleminçözümlerinin t sonsuz iken asimptotik davranışlarını inceledik. The solutions of the self-adjoint second order differential equation have been studied by means of classical theorems of the theory of ordinary differential equations. In this thesis, we wish to examine the same theorems using Prüfer transformations techniques which are a generalization of the Poincare phase plane analysis. We begin by proving the Sturm Comparison theorem and theDisconjugacy theorem. Then, to get the necessary and sufficient conditions forboundedness of the solutions, we study the asymptotic behaviour of the solution ofthe equation above , as t infinite. Bu tez, tekil sınır-değer probleminin Green fonksiyonunu, problemi düzenli sınır-değer problemine dönüştürüp, daha sonra bu düzenli sınır-değer probleminin Green fonksiyonunu bularak tekil sınır-değer problemin Green fonksiyonunu elde etme üzerinedir. Bu tezde tekil Green fonksiyonunu bulmak için beş aşamalı bir metot kullanılmıştır. Son olarak da, metodun bir uygulaması olarak basit tekil Legendre probleminin Green fonksiyonu bulunmuştur. This thesis seeks to find the Green's functions for a singular boundary-value problem, by first transforming the singular problems into a regular one, and then find the Green's function of the regular problem, which directly yields the Green's function of the original singular problem. In this thesis, a five steps procedure will be used as a general method to get the singular Green's function. Lastly, we illustrate our method by constructing the Green's function of a simple singular Legendre problem. 46

Sturm-Liouville teorisinin iyi bilinen sonuçlarından biri de, düzenli veya tekil kendine-eş Sturm-Liouville problemi için (SLP) spektrumunun sınırsız olduğunu dolayısıyla sonsuz olduğudur. We also show that these n eigenvalues can be arbitrarily distributed throughout the complex plane C or the real axis R. Then this problem is extended to Sturm-Liouville problems with transmission condition and with eigenparameter dependent boundary conditions. 49

Bu tezin amacı, delta etkileşimli Sturm-Liouville problemlerinin sonlu spektruma sahip olduğunu gösterip matris gösterimlerini yapmaktır. Bu problem aslında n tane geçiş şartıyla verilmiş bir Sturm-Liouville problemine denktir. Buradan yola çıkarak ilk olarak, en fazla d tane özdeğere sahip bir delta etkileşimli Sturm-Liouville probleminin inşaa edilebileceğini gösterdik. The goal of this thesis is to study the finite spectrum and their matrix representations of Sturm-Liouville problems with delta interactions. Indeed, such a problem is equivalent to a Sturm-Liouville problem which has n transmission conditions. Firstly, we show that we can construct a Sturm-Liouville problem with delta interactions, which has exactly at most d eigenvalues. Where d is the sum of positive numbers that are related to number of the partition of the intervals between two successive interaction points. Secondly, we also show that the Sturm-Liouville problem with delta interactions is equivalent to a finite dimensional matrix eigenvalue problem. 81

Sonlu boyutlu reel Jacobi matrislerin (üç-köşegensel simetrik matrisler) iki spektrumu için ters spektral problem araştırıldı. In this thesis, we construct a class of fourth order self-adjoint boundary value problems whose spectrum is finite and we show that these class of regular self-adjoint fourth order boundary value problems are equivalent to a certain class of matrix eigenvalue problems. Here `being equivalent` means that they have exactly the same eigenvalues. Such an equivalence was previously known only for the second order case and here we will extend these results to fourth order boundary value problems. 51

Bu tez çalışmasında sınır şartlarında spektral parametre bulunan süreksiz bir Dirac sistemi için çözümün varlığı ve spektral bazı özellikleri incelenmiştir. Öncelikle birinci bölümde problemle ilgili literatür araştırması yapılarak incelenecek problem tanıtılmıştır. İkinci bölüm de tez çalışması için gerekli olan tanım, teorem ve kavramlar üzerinde durulmuş ve daha sonra Dirac operatörlerinin de temeli olan Sturm-Liouville operatörlerinin bazı spektral özellikleri verilmiştir. Son olarak yine bu bölümde Dirac operatörleri kısaca tanıtılmıştır. Üçüncü bölümde ise incelenen problem için farklı bir iç çarpım uzayı tanımlanmış ve daha sonra bu uzayda çözümünün varlığı ispatlanmıştır. Özdeğerler için karakteristik fonksiyon da yine bu bölümde bulunmuştur. Sonuçlar bölümünde ise problem için bundan sonra yapılacak araştırmalar konusunda bazı bilgiler verilmiştir. In this thessis, the existence of solution and some spectral properties for a discontinuity Dirac system with spectral parameter contained in the boundary conditions are studied. First of all literature research and definition of considered problem are given in first section. In second section, focused on essential definitions, theorems and some consepts and then some spectral properties of Sturm-Liouville operators which is based on Dirac operators are given. Finaly again, in this section Dirac operators are briefly introduced. In the third section , different definition of a inner product space for the considered problem is given and then existence of solution in this space is proven. Moreover in this section the characteristic function of eigenvalues is found. In the results section subsequent researchs for the problem are given. 43

Bu tezde sampling teoremi ve Dirac operatörler arasındaki bağıntı incelenmiştir. İlk olarak Dirac operatörlerin temeli olan sınır değer problemleri üzerinde durduk ve daha sonra, özdeğer ve özfonksiyonların asimtotik davranışlarını inceledik. İkinci olarak da aynı çalışmayı Dirac operatörleri için yaptık.Ayrıca sampling teoremini ve onun genellemesi olan Kramer teoremini ispatı ile verdik. Tüm bu ön hazırlıklardan sonra Dirac operatörüyle ile ilgili sampling teoremi ve detaylı ispatı gösterildi. In this thessis a relation between sampling theorem and Dirac operators is studied. As a first we studied on boundary value problems which is the base of Dirac operators and then asympthotic behaviours of eigenvalues and eigenfunctions are given. As as second same researches were studied for Dirac operators.In addition we gave sampling theorem and its generalization called by Kramer theorem with proofs. After all these preliminaries sampling theorem associated with Dirac operators and its proof in details are indicated. Bu tezde Kramer sampling teoremi ile Lagrange intepolasyonundan üretilen sampling açılımları arasındaki ilişki anlatılmıştır. Kramer teoremi ile elde edilmiş sampling açılımına sahip her hangi bir fonksiyonun, Kramer teoremindeki gibi çekirdek fonksiyonu ikinci mertebeden Sturm-Liouville probleminden belirlenen, Lagrange tipi interpolasyona da sahip olacağı gösterilmiştir. Sampling teoremi ile ilgili bir çok regüler ve singüler Sturm-Liouville problemi için kullanılan bu yeni yaklaşım, sadece bilinen sampling açılımlarını yeniden yazmak değil aynı zamanda sampling fonksiyonlarını hesaplamak için de yeni bir yöntemdir.Tezde, öncelikle Whittaker-Shannon-Kotel'nikov (WSK) teoremi verilmiş ve daha sonra WSK metodunun bazı genelleştirmeleri tanıtılmıştır. Son olarak da Lagrange interpolasyonundan üretilen sampling açılımı ile ilgili ana teorem ispatlanmıştır. This thesis is devoted to a connection between Kramer?s sampling theorem and sampling expansions generated by Lagrange interpolation. It is shown that any function that has a sampling expansion in the scope of Kramer?s theorem also has a Lagrange-type interpolation expansion provided that the kernel associated with Kramer?s theorem arises from a second-order Sturm?Liouville boundary-value problem. This new approach, which for a variety of regular and singular Sturm?Liouville problems leads to associated sampling theorems, recovers not only many known sampling expansions but also gives new ways to calculate the corresponding sampling functions.In thesis, firstly Whittaker-Shannon-Kotel?nikov (WSK) theorem has been given and secondly some generalized theorem of WSK have been introduced. Finally, the mean theorem about sampling expansions generated by Lagrange interpolation has been proved. 63

Fizik ve mühendislikte birçok problemin sonucu periyodik katsayılı diferansiyel denklemler içermektedir. Hill operatörü olarak da bilinen periyodik katsayılı diferansiyel denklemlerin (operatörlerin) spektral analizi matematikte hızlı gelişen alanlardan biri olmuştur. Bu çalışmadaki önemli nokta incelenen denklemin klasik Hill denkleminden daha genel olan kuadratik operatör demeti şeklinde verilmesidir.Bu tezde periyodik katsayılı kuadratik operatörler demetinin spektral özellikleri incelenmiştir. Öncelikle spektral aralıklar belirlenmiş ve daha sonra özfonksiyonlar cinsinden açılım formülleri ve son olarak spektrum içindeki boşlukların bulunmama kriterleri verilmiştir. The specral analysis of differential equations (operators) with periodic coefficients also known Hill operators is the one of the branch rapidly improving in mathematics. It is important point in this study that the investigated equation which is more general then Hill?s equation is given in a form of quadratic pencil of operators.In this thesis; we studied the spectral properties of quadratic pencil of Sturm-Liouville operators with periodic coefficients. First the spectral intervals were determined and then eigenfunctions expansion formulas were given. Finally we have given conditions for the absence of spectral gaps in spectrum. 70
