Background and Objectives: This study presents an evaluation between IAQX 1.0f and Fluent 6.3.26 in modeling of NOx dispersion in an indoor residential environment. Modeling predictions are compared with sampling results.Materials and Methods: Aresidential building with about 84 m2 area is modeled. In IAQX 1.0f the building is divided into five zones. Emission factors and absorption rate of sinks is estimated with US.EPA suggested factors. On the other hand, In the Fluent 6.3.26 model, the building was divided into 1777 cells, and the openings are defined by the boundary conditions of the inflow. In this model, pollution sources were simulated by boundary conditions of the mass inflow.Results:Compared to IAQX 1.0f, Fluent 6.3.26 showed higher estimation of the concentrations in the zones of 1, 2 and 3. In comparison with the measurements, both models had underestimated results.Conclusion: The results of Fluent 6.3.26 were closer to the sampling results in the zones.

This research investigated the effect of stress of mid-pregnancy shorn Zandi ewes on the live birth weight and body sizes of twin lambs. A total of 96 Zandi ewes, confirmed pregnant with twins, were randomly allocated on day 80 of pregnancy into 4 groups, each group containing 6 replicates (each replicate containing 4 sheep). The experimental groups included: 1. Control, 2. Crutched, 3. Sham-Shorn, and 4. Shorn. Blood cortisol concentrations of the ewes in the experimental shorn treatment group increased significantly compared to control (P<0.05). The average length of pregnancy in the ewes of the shorn treatment group was 2 and 1.5 days longer than the control and Sham-Shorn groups (P<0.05). Lambs born from ewes given the shorn treatment were heavier at birth as compared to the lambs of the other treatments, as well as having longer body lengths, arms, and legs (P<0.05). In general, the results showed that the ewes that were shorn in mid-pregnancy had a higher cortisol concentration, and it had a significant effect on the birth weight and sizes of the lambs compared to other treatments. A system was designed and fabricated to grade apple automatically based on its size using machine vision. The system included several units to single out, orient and grade apple. A cylindrical container with a circular hole in its bottom, which was equipped with agitator, was built to single out the apples. This mechanism delivered apples to an orientation unit, one by one. Two wooden rails with a specific form which was located on the ramp via adequate slope were used to orient the apple during rolling. The apple was placed under the camera to take its photo, after orientation. The photo was transferred to computer for image processing to determine the apple grade based on its size. A belt conveyor carried the apple and set it in appropriate place regard to its grade. As a final point, wind spray valve was opened and the apple was pushed to the marked box. In order to assess the constructed system, 50 red and golden apples of each grade were chosen and the completely randomized design test was conducted. Results demonstrated that the most consumed time was related to image processing. Almost 85% of the apples were properly oriented in the orientation unit and were correctly graded. A simple, reliable and rapid method for the extraction of ultra-trace copper(II) using nanoporous SBA-15 sorbent modified with a thiocarbohydrazide ligand, and determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry is presented. The optimum parameters of the method were obtained as pH of aqueous solution 5, sorbent amount 2 mg, stirring time 20 min and 0.4 M HCl solution as the eluent solvent. This method has a breakthrough volume greater than 1500 mL with a concentration factor of more than 300, linear range 0.8–2500.0 μg L-1, limit of detection 0.253 μg L-1 and limit of quantification 0.844 μg L-1 for copper(II). The capacity of 2 mg of modified SBA-15was found to be 123.00±0.04 mg g-1. Standard deviations were 3.3, 2.3 and 2.1 % for 1, 2 and 4 μg mL-1, respectively (n = 5). This method was successfully applied for the determination of copper(II) in different real samples, especially in the food samples.

Synthesis of some novel bis-1,2,4-triazoles 5a-c and 1,3,4-thiadiazoles 6a-c bearing a pyridyl unit using 4-(1,4-phenylene)bis-1-(x-picolinoyl)-thiosemicarbazide (x = 2,3,4) in an acidic and alkaline solution, respectively, is reported. The S-alkylation of symmetrical triazole derivatives 7a-c and 8a-c is also reported. The structures of the synthesized compounds result from the IR and NMR spectroscopic data. Background: The acetabular labrum plays an important role in hip joint stability and protection of the articular cartilage of the hip. Despite this, few investigators have evaluated its microscopic vasculature and, to our knowledge, none has assessed its macroscopic blood supply. The purposes of this study were to identify the origin and course of the vascular supply to the acetabular labrum to determine if this blood supply is affected by a labral tear.Methods: Colored silicone was injected into the vascular tree proximal to thirty-five hips in twenty-eight fresh cadavers. Twenty-four hours after injection, anatomic dissection was performed and the vessels supplying the labrum were followed from their origin to their final distribution. Additionally, labral segments of fifteen randomly selected hips were resected to assess the acetabular rim's vascular contribution, and fifteen hips were dislocated for complete intra-articular inspection of the labrum.Results: Radial branches of a previously described periacetabular periosteal vascular ring were identified as the source of labral blood supply in all thirty-five hips. These branches coursed toward the hip joint on the periosteal surface, penetrated the joint capsule near its innominate insertion, and continued within a loose connective-tissue layer on the capsular surface of the labrum. No contribution from the hip capsule, synovial lining, or osseous acetabular rim could be demonstrated. An intact vascular supply was identified in all seven hips with a labral tear.Conclusions: The acetabular labrum receives its blood supply from radial branches of a periacetabular periosteal vascular ring that traverses the osseolabral junction on its capsular side and continues toward the labrum's free edge. Introduction: High levels of stress in infertile women were associated with a decrease in sexual function and quality of life will be affected. Materials and Methods: This study was correlational. The study population of infertile women who were referred to the Center for Reproductive Health Research Kosar sample consisted of 147 individuals. Using demographic data questionnaire, quality of life in infertile women and irrational thoughts about having children was collected. One-way ANOVA, t-independent, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression analysis were used to analyze the data. Results: The results showed that 3.48% of infertile women to live a good quality 1.36 of the average quality of life and 6.15% had poor quality of life, and one-way ANOVA between quality of life and a strong desire to have children (p=0.011) showed a significant relationship. The Pearson correlation between QOL scores and scores of irrational thoughts regarding having children, there is an inverse relationship (p<0.001). Conclusion: Quality of life of infertile women was associated with irrational thoughts about having children. Introduction: 49% of women and 15% of men described infertility as the most upsetting event of their lives. The aim of this study is to determine the impact of infertility on female sexual function. Materials and Methods: This study is a case-control study on 218 women with infertility disease. This study was conducted in kowsar hospital in 2013. One hundred nineteen women with infertility and 99 healthy female controls without infertility between the ages of 18 and 45 years were included in this study. Interventions were Anonymous survey and Female Sexual Function Index. Main outcomes measurement was Female Sexual Function Index scores, frequency of sexual intercourse and masturbation, and sex-life satisfaction. Results: Twenty-seven percent of our control group had Female Sexual Function Index scores that put them at risk for sexual dysfunction (<27.55), whereas 43% of our patients with infertility met this criterion. Compared with the control group, the patients with infertility had significantly lower scores in the desire and arousal domains and lower frequency of intercourse and masturbation. The patients with infertility retrospectively reported a sex-life satisfaction score that was similar to that of the controls before their diagnosis, whereas their current sex-life satisfaction scores were significantly lower than those of the controls Conclusion: Women with a diagnosis of infertility were found to be at higher risk for sexual dysfunction on the basis of their Female Sexual Function Index scores compared with women without infertility. Background: Suspected false positive norovirus results occurred after introduction of the BioFire® FilmArray® Gastrointestinal panel (BF-GIP) into 6 laboratory sites, in British Columbia, Canada., Objectives: The primary objective was to investigate suspected false positive results by performing additional molecular assays and whole genome sequencing (WGS). The second objective was to determine if melting curve review could predict false positive results., Study Design: From February 2023 to May 2024, the proportion of potential false positive norovirus results from the BF-GIP was calculated based on confirmatory testing using alternate molecular method. A subset of 65 norovirus BF-GIP positive specimens, including 35 negatives and 30 positives on additional molecular assays, underwent WGS. Melting curves appearances from 150 specimens were reviewed., Results: Overall, 215/784 (27.4 %) BF-GIP norovirus results were suspected to be false positives. When using WGS, 64/65 results were in agreement with confirmatory testing. Notably, 35 specimens negative on confirmatory testing and suspected to be BF-GIP norovirus false positive results were undetectable by WGS. Avian influenza viruses (AIVs) regularly circulate between wild and domestic bird populations. Following several high-profile outbreaks, highly pathogenic AIVs (HPAIV) with zoonotic potential have been the subject of increasing attention. While we know that HPAIV is transmitted between domestic birds, wildlife, and the environment, little is known about persistence and spillover/back at these interfaces. We integrated the test results of samples collected on and around an infected domestic poultry premise (IP) where H5N1 HPAIV was confirmed in a flock of poultry in 2022 in Southern Ontario, Canada to explore the transmission cycle of AIVs in wildlife and the environment. We sampled a captive flock of Mallards ( Anas platyrhynchos ) that resided on site, sediment samples collected from water bodies on site, and examined samples collected through surveillance within a 100 km radius of the IP from live wild ducks and sick and dead wildlife. We found serologic evidence of H5 exposure in the captive mallards that resided on site despite no evidence of morbidity or mortality in these birds and no PCR positive detections from samples collected at two different timepoints. Genetic material from the same H5N1 HPAIV subtype circulating in the domestic birds and from low pathogenicity avian influenza viruses were detected in wetlands on site. The results of live and sick and dead surveillance conducted within a 100 km radius confirmed that the virus was circulating in wildlife before and after IP confirmation. Background: Infertility in men causes problems in various aspects of their lives, including personal, family and social life. One of the most important of these problems is anxiety. Anxiety in infertile men can affect their health, quality of life, and response to treatment, highlighting the significance of anxiety in these men. Thus, this systematic review and meta-analysis was conducted to investigate the prevalence of anxiety symptoms in infertile men., Methods: To conduct this review study, two researchers independently searched international databases such as PubMed, Cochrane Library, Web of sciences, Scopus, PsyINFO, and the Google scholar search engine in English without considering any time limit until January 2, 2024. Keywords such as "anxiety," "infertility," "prevalence," and "epidemiology" were used, taking into account the specific search method of each database. Using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS), the quality of the articles was evaluated by two researchers independently., Results: In the systematic part of the study, 27 studies were included, and given the variety of measurement tools (8 different tools) used to investigate anxiety symptoms in infertile men, 24 studies were analyzed in five subgroups of tools. The pooled prevalence of anxiety symptoms in infertile men was 21.37% (95% CI: 15.73-27.02). The lowest and highest prevalence of anxiety in infertile men were related to the Beck anxiety inventory (BAI) and Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS), accounting for 7.08% (95% CI: 3.27-10.90) and 34.90% (95%CI: 28.90-40.90) values respectively. This prevalence was 19.80% (95%CI: 9.01-30.59) for the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS), 30.06% (95%CI: 18.59-41.52) for the Spielberger Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI-T), and 18.52% (95%CI: 7.76-29.29) for the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS)., Conclusion: The results of this systematic review and meta-analysis indicated that the prevalence of anxiety symptoms in infertile men requires special attention to healthcare planning. The healthcare system of different countries should evaluate the symptoms of anxiety in infertile men and take appropriate measures to reduce them according to the culture of the countries. Rescoring of peptide spectrum matches originating from database search engines enabled by peptide property predictors is exceeding the performance of peptide identification from traditional database search engines. In contrast to the peptide spectrum match scores calculated by traditional database search engines, rescoring peptide spectrum matches generates scores based on comparing observed and predicted peptide properties, such as fragment ion intensities and retention times. These newly generated scores enable a more efficient discrimination between correct and incorrect peptide spectrum matches. This approach was shown to lead to substantial improvements in the number of confidently identified peptides, facilitating the analysis of challenging datasets in various fields such as immunopeptidomics, metaproteomics, proteogenomics, and single-cell proteomics. In this review, we summarize the key elements leading up to the recent introduction of multiple data-driven rescoring pipelines. Background: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is the most common medical complication of pregnancy, and it can lead to complications for the mother and the infant/fetus. This was especially evident during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, the present systematic review aimed to describe the changes in screening, diagnosis, management, and outcomes of gestational diabetes during the COVID-19 pandemic., Methods: The systematic review was conducted from December 2019 until January 1, 2022. To find articles related to the purpose of the study, PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and WHO were searched using relevant and validated keywords using MeSH/Emtree., Results: In total, 675 entries were ascertained from the database inquiry, and 17 scholarly works were deemed suitable for inclusion in the final review. The salient conclusions derived from this review were as follows: (a) During the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a significant decrease in the use of OGTTs and a rise in the use of HbA1c assays for both GDM screening and diagnosing. (b) A predominant number of physicians incorporated some variation of telemedicine to remotely supervise and conduct follow-up evaluations of patients with GDM. Various strategies are presented for the provision of prenatal care to women afflicted with GDM, such as concentrating on high-risk demographics, the initiation of lifestyle modifications at early stages, and the implementation of remote patient monitoring techniques. The 'single test procedure' is identified as the most suitable for the preliminary screening of GDM. The OGTT should be assigned clinical precedence in patients at high risk during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) models for peptide property prediction such as Prosit have enabled the creation of high quality in silico reference libraries. These libraries are used in various applications, ranging from data-independent acquisition (DIA) data analysis to data-driven rescoring of search engine results. Here, we present Oktoberfest, an open source Python package of our spectral library generation and rescoring pipeline originally only available online via ProteomicsDB. Oktoberfest is largely search engine agnostic and provides access to online peptide property predictions, promoting the adoption of state-of-the-art ML/DL models in proteomics analysis pipelines. We demonstrate its ability to reproduce and even improve our results from previously published rescoring analyses on two distinct use cases. Diverse influenza A viruses (IAVs) circulate in wild birds, including highly pathogenic strains that infect poultry and humans. Consequently, surveillance of IAVs in wild birds is a cornerstone of agricultural biosecurity and pandemic preparedness. Surveillance is traditionally done by testing wild birds directly, but obtaining these specimens is labor intensive, detection rates can be low, and sampling is often biased toward certain avian species. As a result, local incursions of dangerous IAVs are rarely detected before outbreaks begin. Testing environmental specimens from wild bird habitats has been proposed as an alternative surveillance strategy. These specimens are thought to contain diverse IAVs deposited by a broad range of avian hosts, including species that are not typically sampled by surveillance programs. To enable this surveillance strategy, we developed a targeted genomic sequencing method for characterizing IAVs in these challenging environmental specimens. It combines custom hybridization probes, unique molecular index-based library construction, and purpose-built bioinformatic tools, allowing IAV genomic material to be enriched and analyzed with single-fragment resolution. We demonstrated our method on 90 sediment specimens from wetlands around Vancouver, Canada. We recovered 2,312 IAV genome fragments originating from all eight IAV genome segments. Eleven hemagglutinin subtypes and nine neuraminidase subtypes were detected, including H5, the current global surveillance priority. Our results demonstrate that targeted genomic sequencing of environmental specimens from wild bird habitats could become a valuable complement to avian influenza surveillance programs.IMPORTANCEIn this study, we developed genome sequencing tools for characterizing avian influenza viruses in sediment from wild bird habitats. These tools enable an environment-based approach to avian influenza surveillance. This could improve early detection of dangerous strains in local wild birds, allowing poultry producers to better protect their flocks and prevent human exposures to potential pandemic threats. Furthermore, we purposefully developed these methods to contend with viral genomic material that is diluted, fragmented, incomplete, and derived from multiple strains and hosts. Polyethyleneimine (PEI) has been reported to have good potential for the adsorption of metal ions. In this work, PEI was covalently bound to NiFe 2 O 4 @SiO 2 nanoparticles to form the new adsorbent NiFe 2 O 4 @SiO 2 -PEI. The material allowed for magnetic separation and was characterized via powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD), showing the pattern of the NiFe 2 O 4 core and an amorphous shell. Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) showed irregular shaped particles with sizes ranging from 50 to 100 nm, and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) showed high C and N contents of 36 and 39%, respectively. This large amount of PEI in the materials was confirmed by thermogravimetry-differential thermal analysis (TGA-DTA), showing a mass loss of about 80%. Fourier-transform IR spectroscopy (FT-IR) showed characteristic resonances of PEI dominating the spectrum. The adsorption of CrO 4 2- , Ni 2+ , and Pb 2+ ions from aqueous solutions was studied at different pH, temperatures, metal ion concentrations, and adsorbent dosages. The maximum adsorption capacities of 149.3, 156.7, and 161.3 mg/g were obtained for CrO 4 2- , Ni 2+ , and Pb 2+ , respectively, under optimum conditions using 0.075 g of the adsorbent material at a 250 mg/L ion concentration, pH = 6.5, and room temperature.

Recent evidence suggests that vitamin D deficiency could play an important role in the development of non-skeletal diseases, including cancer. Vitamin D also affects the function of the reproductive system. In the present study, the relationship between 25(OH)D levels with oocyte quality in Breast Cancer (BC) women and control group have been investigated. After initial evaluations, ovarian stimulation began with the GnRH antagonist protocol in the BC group (N = 16) and control group (N = 16). The serum and follicular fluid (FF) 25(OH)D levels were measured at the time of oocyte retrieval and their relationship to oocyte quality was examined. The mean levels of serum and FF 25(OH)D in BC women were significantly lower than in the control group (22.26 ± 7.98 vs. 29.61 ± 9.12, P = 0.02, 21.65 ± 7.59 vs. 28.00 ± 9.05, P = 0.04, respectively). There was a significant correlation between the levels of 25(OH)D in FF and serum in BC women (r = 0.873, P < 0.001). But there was no correlation between the serum or FF 25(OH)D levels with the parameters related to oocytes (P > 0.05). In the BC women, the number of dysmorph and highly dysmorph oocytes was higher than in the control group (P < 0.001). Women with BC referring to infertility centers for fertility preservation are more likely to be deficient in serum 25(OH)D level; this subsequently affects the FF 25(OH)D level. However, serum and FF 25(OH)D levels may not be suitable indicators for examining maturity and quality of oocytes in terms of morphology in BC women, and the poor morphological quality of oocytes in BC women may be due to other factors., (© 2023. Background: The purpose of this cadaveric study was to anatomically demonstrate the contribution of the lateral femoral circumflex artery (LFCA) to the articular and peri-articular hip circulation with an emphasis on the vascularization of hip abductors specially tensor fasciae latae muscle (TFLM)., Methods and Materials: Thirty hips from 26 fresh cadavers were dissected after injection of the aorta or common iliac artery by colored silicon, to study the contribution of the LFCA to the articular and periarticular hip circulation. Furthermore, the aorta was injected in another 18 fresh cadavers after unilaterally ligating the ascending branch of the LFCA (a-LFCA) as the vascular pedicle of the TFLM, to evaluate the collateral circulation to the TFLM, if available., Results: In all specimens but one, the a-LFCA was found as the single major vascular pedicle of the TFLM. When ligated, only 4 out of 18 hips demonstrated colored cast vessels in the cut surface of the muscle. The ascending branch had also consistent but variable contribution to the gluteus medius and gluteus minimus muscles in 80% of the hips. Furthermore, the a-LFCA consistently supplied the anterior and anterolateral aspects of the hip capsule. In 35% of hips, the a-LFCA contributed to the femoral head and neck circulation via one or two small anterior retinacular arteries., Conclusion: LFCA contribution to the articular and periarticular hip circulation is only delivered by the ascending branch. Evidence suggests that COVID-19 may impair access to sexual and reproductive health services and safe abortion. The purpose of this systematic review was investigating the changes of abortion services in the COVID-19 pandemic era. We searched PubMed, Web of Science and Scopus for relevant studies published as of August 2021, using relevant keywords. RCT and non-original studies were excluded from the analysis and 17 studies of 151 included in our review. Requests to access medication abortion by telemedicine and demand for self-managed abortion were the main findings of identified studies. Women requested an abortion earlier in their pregnancy, and were satisfied with tele-abortion care due to its flexibility, and ongoing telephone support. Presenting telemedicine services without ultrasound has also been reported. Visits to clinics were reduced based on the severity of the restrictions, and abortion clinics had less revenue, more costs, and more changes in the work style of their healthcare providers. Telemedicine was reported safe, effective, acceptable, and empowering for women. Reasons for using tele-abortion were privacy, secrecy, comfort, using modern contraception, employing of women, distance from clinics, travel restrictions, lockdowns, fear of COVID-19, and political reasons (abortion prohibition). Complications of women using tele-abortion were pain, lack of psychological support, bleeding, and need to blood transfusions. The results of this study showed that using telemedicine and teleconsultations for medical abortion in the pandemic conditions may be extended after pandemic. Background: Ovarian reserve is a crucial indicator of a woman's fertility potential, which is determined by the quality and quantity of antral follicles and oocytes. However, certain factors such as endometriosis, pelvic inflammatory disease, myoma, and the natural process of aging can lead to a poor ovarian response to stimulation, reducing a woman's chances of conceiving., Objective: To evaluate the effect of uterus congenital anomalies and uterine leiomyoma are associated on ovarian reserve., Methods: The present cross-sectional study was performed on 321 infertile women in three groups consisted of 97 infertile women with intramural uterine leiomyoma and 81 infertile women with uterine anomalies and 143 infertile women without uterine anomalies and uterine leiomyoma during 2017-2019 in Royan Center. Sampling method was continuous and available. Data collection tool in this study was a questionnaire which was in two parts of individual variables and the second part was related to ultrasound results (number of antral follicles and ovarian volume) and laboratory tests (Anti-Mullerian Hormone (AMH) and Follicle-stimulating Hormone (FSH)). Ovarian reserve parameters were measured in three groups on the third day of the cycle in both groups. Data analysis was performed using SPSS software version 21. Quantitative variables were analyzed using t-test, qualitative variables were analyzed using chi-square test., Results: The results of in laboratory parameters showed that there was no statistically significant difference between the three groups in FSH (2.35 ± 1.55, 2.07 ± 1.81, 2.31 ± 1.93) and AMH (6.84 ± 2.75,7.52 ± 3.14,6.93 ± 3.04), respectively (P > 0.05). The results of sonographic variables also showed that the variables include number of antral follicles in right ovarian, number of antral follicles in left ovarian have statistically significant between the three groups (5.73 ± 2.69,4.84 ± 3.14,6.66 ± 3.13), respectively (P < 0.05)., Conclusion: The results of the present study showed that uterine abnormalities and uterine leiomyoma with different mechanisms such as reduce of antral follicle numbers and the effect on uterine and ovarian blood flow lead to a decrease in ovarian reserve and infertility. Introduction: Little is known about the impact of the coronavirus on sexual behavior, function, and satisfaction., Aim: The aim of the present study was to systematically review people's sexual function and behaviors and their changes in sexual activities during the COVID-19 pandemic., Methods: Comprehensive searches in PubMed, Web of Science, and Scopus were conducted with keywords in accordance with MeSH terms: COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2, coronavirus, sexual health, sexual function, sexual dysfunctions, sexuality, sexual orientation, sexual activities, and premarital sex. Two reviewers independently assessed full-text articles according to predefined criteria: original design, English studies, and investigating either the general population or sexual minorities., Results: Risk of bias in the studies was assessed by the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale, and data were pooled via random effects meta-analyses. We utilized the standardized mean difference to evaluate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on sexual activity, functioning, and satisfaction. We included 19 studies in the analysis and 11 studies in the meta-analysis, with a sample size of 12 350. To investigate sexual activity changes, a sample size of 8838 was entered into the subgroup analysis, which showed a significant decrease in both genders (5821 women, P < .033; 3017 men, P < .008). A subgroup meta-analysis showed that the sexual function of men and women during the COVID-19 pandemic significantly declined (3974 women, P < .001; 1427 men, P < .001). Sexual desire and arousal decreased in both genders, though mainly in women. In investigating sexual satisfaction changes during the COVID-19 pandemic, a meta-analysis with a sample size of 2711 showed a significant decrease ( P < .001). The most indicative changes in sexual behaviors during the pandemic were the increase in masturbating and usage of sex toys. Greater COVID-19 knowledge was associated with lower masturbation, oral sex, and vaginal sex. The more protective behaviors were associated with less hugging, kissing, cuddling, genital touching, watching porn with a partner, and vaginal sex., Conclusion: The COVID-19 pandemic led to increased challenges and changes for individuals' sexual behaviors. Efforts for preventive strategies should therefore be concentrated between pandemics, while ensuring that there is information available to the population during a pandemic for help in times of psychological distress or crisis., (© The Author(s) 2023. In this study, an effective approach was developed to synthesize a novel, multifunctional ionic liquid nanocatalyst based on zeolite-Y with 4-methylpyridinium chloride (4-MePy-Cl) and calcium ions (Ca/4-MePy-IL@ZY). Then, Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles were produced inside the zeolite pores with the use of ultrasonic waves. XRD, FESEM, FT-IR, EDX-Map, TGA-DTA, VSM, BET, and atomic absorption techniques were used to identify the structure of the magnetic nanocomposite. Then, its catalytic activity in the one-pot synthesis of 2-aminothiazoles using trichloroisocyanuric acid (TCCA) as a green supplier of halogen ions for intermediates was studied. To provide ideal conditions for the preparation of pure products, first, the one-pot reaction of acetophenone and thiourea in various solvents, different temperatures, and the presence of different amounts of nanocatalysts and the molar amount of TCCA was used. Next, the reaction was investigated in the one-pot preparation of 2-aminothiazole derivatives under optimal conditions. This method replaces iodine (I 2 ), a toxic reagent, for the first time with TCCA, a safe and sustainable source of halogen. The use of non-toxic solvent and a cheap, safe, recyclable nanocatalyst, quick reaction times, high efficiency, and ease of nanocatalyst separation with the aid of a magnet are additional benefits of this method. Sex steroids are powerful modulators of the immune system and they may affect the immune response and inflammatory consequences of COVID-19. This systematic review aims to explore the impact of sex steroids on COVID-19 mortality and complications. We looked up the keywords of the study in Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science. All related original articles published in English, as of October 16, 2021, were reviewed to be included in our research. Concerns regarding the effect of sex hormones on COVID-19, eight full texts have been identified for the conclusion. In these studies, the relationship between estradiol and COVID-19 mortality has been mentioned. The most significant findings were the higher COVID-19 mortality rate in men, compared to women; also, in menopausal women compared to younger women and who received estradiol. In two studies, oral contraceptive pills had a protective effect on the morbidity of SARS-CoV-2 infection. In a randomized controlled trial, subcutaneous injection of progesterone in hospitalized men significantly reduced their symptoms and need for oxygen therapy. Hormone replacement therapy was positively associated with reducing COVID-19 symptoms. Although the results were insufficient for a conclusion, this study represents estrogen as an appropriate pharmacological method for preventing and diminishing the inflammation related to COVID-19 disease. Background: Global real-time monitoring of SARS-CoV-2 variants is crucial to controlling the COVID-19 outbreak. The purpose of this study was to set up a Sanger-based platform for massive SARS-CoV-2 variant tracking in laboratories in low-resource settings., Methods: We used nested RT-PCR assay, Sanger sequencing and lineage assignment for 930-bp of the SARS-CoV-2 spike gene, which harbors specific variants of concern (VOCs) mutations. We set up our platform by comparing its results with whole genome sequencing (WGS) data on 137 SARS-CoV-2 positive samples. Then, we applied it on 1028 samples from March-September 2021., Results: In total, 125 out of 137 samples showed 91.24% concordance in mutation detection. In lineage assignment, 123 out of 137 samples demonstrated 89.78% concordance, 65 of which were assigned as VOCs and showed 100% concordance. Of 1028 samples screened by our in-house method, 78 distinct mutations were detected. The most common mutations were: S:D614G (21.91%), S:P681R (12.19%), S:L452R (12.15%), S:T478K (12.15%), S:N501Y (8.91%), S:A570D (8.89%), S:P681H (8.89%), S:T716I (8.74%), S:L699I (3.50%) and S:S477N (0.28%). Of 1028 samples, 980 were attributed as VOCs, which include the Delta (B.1.617.2) and Alpha (B.1.1.7) variants., Conclusion: Our proposed in-house Sanger-based assay for SARS-CoV-2 lineage assignment is an accessible strategy in countries with poor infrastructure facilities. Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common endocrine disorders in women worldwide, affecting their sexual and reproductive health (SRH)., Objective: This integrative review aimed to identify SRH aspects in women with PCOS by consolidating the findings from previous studies., Materials and Methods: The present integrative review was conducted through an electronic systematic review search of 1052 manuscripts published from April 2000 to March 2020 using PubMed, SCOPUS, Web of Science, Embase, Google Scholar, MEDLINE, Science Direct, Ovid, and the Cochrane Library. After at least 2 researchers evaluated the articles based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 27 papers were accepted. The data were analyzed by thematic analysis., Results: 9 main themes of SRH were obtained: 1) the impact of PCOS-related complications on reproductive health; 2) the lifelong effect of PCOS on reproductive patterns; 3) PCOS and adverse reproductive and pregnancy outcomes; 4) women's need for understanding complications; 5) the financial burden of the disease; 6) women's life experiences and quality of life; 7) sexual disorders; 8) psychological concerns and issues; and 9) femininity feelings and roles., Conclusion: We were able to identify and categorize various aspects of SRH needs for women with PCOS. These categories can facilitate a more comprehensive assessment of SRH, including previously neglected areas. Background: Complete SARS-CoV-2 genome sequencing in the early phase of the outbreak in Iran showed two independent viral entries. Subsequently, as part of a genome surveillance project, we aimed to characterize the genetic diversity of SARS-CoV-2 in Iran over one year after emerging., Methods: We provided 319 SARS-CoV-2 whole-genome sequences used to monitor circulating lineages in March 2020-May 2021 time interval., Results: The temporal dynamics of major SARS-CoV-2 clades/lineages circulating in Iran is comparable to the global perspective and represent the 19A clade (B.4) dominating the first disease wave, followed by 20A (B.1.36), 20B (B.1.1.413), 20I (B.1.1.7), leading the second, third and fourth waves, respectively. We observed a mixture of circulating B.1.36, B.1.1.413, B.1.1.7 lineages in winter 2021, paralleled in a fading manner for B.1.36/B.1.1.413 and a growing rise for B.1.1.7, prompting the fourth outbreak. Entry of the Delta variant, leading to the fifth disease wave in summer 2021, was detected in April 2021. This study highlights three lineages as hallmarks of the SARS-CoV-2 outbreak in Iran; B4, dominating early periods of the epidemic, B.1.1.413 (B.1.1 with the combination of [D138Y-S477N-D614G] spike mutations) as a characterizing lineage in Iran, and the co-occurrence of [I100T-L699I] spike mutations in half of B.1.1.7 sequences mediating the fourth peak. It also designates the renowned combination of G and GR clades' mutations as the top recurrent mutations., Conclusion: In brief, we provided a real-time and comprehensive picture of the SARS-CoV-2 genetic diversity in Iran and shed light on the SARS-CoV-2 transmission and circulation on the regional scale., (© 2022 The Author(s). Background: Sexual and reproductive health (SRH) is an important aspect of women's health. Polycystic ovary syndrome is a common disease among women and has long-term negative effects on women's health. Evidence shows that polycystic ovary syndrome has different impacts on SRH needs among women. The aim of this study is to design and validate an SRH services guideline for healthcare providers in treating women with polycystic ovary syndrome., Methods: The guideline will be developed and validated using an exploratory sequential mixed-methods approach in three phases based on the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) model: (1) scoping phase (describing the SRH needs of women with polycystic ovary syndrome from the results of both review and qualitative studies); (2) development phase (developing a primary guideline for SRH services); (3) validation phase (validation of the guideline will be performed by a panel of experts and stakeholders using the AGREE [Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation] tool)., Discussion: A specific and practical guideline on the SRH of Iranian women with polycystic ovary syndrome will be developed, which will be compatible with their specific needs and culture, considering the limited resources available.
