Photogenerated radicals are an indispensable member of the state‐of‐the‐art photochromic material family, as they can effectively modulate the photoluminescence and photothermal conversion performance of radical‐induced photochromic complexes. Herein, two novel radical‐induced photochromic metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), [Ag(TEPE)](AC) ⋅ 7/4H2O ⋅ 5/4EtOH (1) and [Ag(TEPE)](NC) ⋅ 3H2O ⋅ EtOH (2), are reported. Distinctly different topological networks can be obtained by judiciously introducing alternative π‐conjugated anionic guests, including a new topological structure (named as sfm) first reported in this work, describing as 4,4,4,4‐c net. EPR data and UV–Vis spectra prove the radical‐induced photochromic mechanism. Dynamic photochromism exhibits tunability in a wide CIE color space, with a linear segment from yellow to red for 1, while a curved coordinate line for 2, resulting in colorful emission from blue to orange. Moreover, photogenerated TEPE* radicals effectively activate the near‐infrared (NIR) photothermal conversion effect of MOFs. Under 1 W cm−2 808 nm laser irradiation, the surface temperatures of photoproducts 1* and 2* can reach ~160 °C and ~120 °C, respectively, with competitive NIR photothermal conversion efficiencies η=51.8 % (1*) and 36.2 % (2*). This work develops a feasible electrostatic compensation strategy to accurately introduce photoactive anionic guests into MOFs to construct multifunctional radical‐induced photothermal conversion materials with tunable photoluminescence behavior. This article explores the identification of inflammatory biomarkers for the prognosis of skin melanoma (SKME). The study integrates various datasets and employs statistical methods to evaluate the associations between inflammation-related genes and SKME survival. The researchers identify ABCF1, BIRC3, and MNDA as inflammatory biomarkers that are relevant to SKME prognosis. Porcine circoviruses (PCVs) are a significant cause of concern for swine health, with four genotypes currently recognized. Two of these, PCV3 and PCV4, have been detected in pigs across all age groups, in both healthy and diseased animals. These viruses have been associated with various clinical manifestations, including porcine dermatitis and nephropathy syndrome (PDNS) and respiratory and enteric signs. In this study, we detected PCV3 and PCV4 in central China between January 2022 and February 2023. We tested fecal swabs and tissue samples from growing-finishing and suckling pigs with or without respiratory and systemic manifestations and found the prevalence of PCV3 to be 15.15% (15/99) and that of PCV3/PCV4 coinfection to be 4.04% (4/99). This relatively low prevalence might be attributed to the fact that most of the clinical samples were collected from pigs exhibiting respiratory signs, with only a few samples having been obtained from pigs with diarrhea. In some cases, PCV2 was also detected, and the coinfection rates of PCV2/3, PCV2/4, and PCV2/3/4 were 6.06% (6/99), 5.05% (5/99), and 3.03% (3/99), respectively. The complete genomic sequences of four PCV3 and two PCV4 isolates were determined. All four of the PCV3 isolates were of subtype PCV3b, and the two PCV4 isolates were of subtype PCV4b. Two mutations (A24V and R27K) were found in antibody recognition domains of PCV3, suggesting that they might be associated with immune escape. This study provides valuable insights into the molecular epidemiology and evolution of PCV3 and PCV4 that will be useful in future investigations of genotyping, immunogenicity, and immune evasion strategies. The species of Gymnopilus (Hymenogastraceae, Agricales) are commonly recognized as wood-decaying fungi. Certain members of this genus have been identified as psilocybin-producing mushrooms. Gymnopilus exhibits a diverse range and has a global distribution. In this study, a total of seventy-eight specimens were gathered from ten provinces in China. A comprehensive molecular phylogenetic analysis was conducted, employing gene sequences including ITS, nrLSU, nrSSU, rpb1, rpb2, and tef1-α. Additionally, morphological examinations were also carried out. The phylogenetic topology of Gymnopilus from this study generally agreed with previous studies and facilitated the identification of all those specimens. As a result, eleven species, including five newly discovered ones named Gy. gyirongensis, Gy. variisporus, Gy. tomentosiceps, Gy. tenuibasidialis, and Gy. aurantipileatus, were recognized. Significantly, four of the five newly identified species are native to the Xizang Autonomous Region, emphasizing their specialization in this distinctive habitat. This research contributes to our comprehension of Gymnopilus diversity and lays the groundwork for the conservation and sustainable utilization of Gymnopilus resources. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: The aim of this study was to compare the metastatic patterns of synchronous bone metastasis (SBM) and metachronous bone metastasis (MBM) in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC). Methods: This study included bone metastases in NPC patients from 2005 to 2016 in a Chinese hospital. Cohort 1 was collected from 2005 to 2010 for discovery, and Cohort 2 from 2011 to 2016 for validation. The chi‐squared test, Wilcoxon rank sum test, and Kaplan–Meier technique were used to compare site, time, and survival between cohorts 1 and 2. Prognostic factors were analyzed using univariate or multivariate Cox regression. Results: Cohort 1 had 112 individuals with SBM and 394 with MBM, and cohort 2 had 328 with SBM and 307 with MBM. The thoracic vertebra was the most frequently affected site of metastasis. Patients with SBM more often had metastasis to the cervical vertebrae compared with patients with MBM (34.5% vs. 22.3%, p < 0.05). Patients with SBM had better overall survival (42.2 months, 95% CI: 33.9–50.7) than patients with MBM (24.9 months, 95% CI: 22.2–28.7). Age at bone metastasis detection, metastasis to other organs, and more bone metastasis locations were associated with worse prognosis. The majority of MBMs occurred at 7 to 18 months after NPC diagnosis. Conclusion: Radiotherapy does not modify the metastatic patterns of NPC bone metastases. Patients with SBM tend to have metastasis to the cervical vertebra, which is close to the nasopharynx. Biliary cystadenocarcinoma (BCAC) is an extremely rare intrahepatic cystic tumor. Patients usually present with nonspecific symptoms such as abdominal pain, abdominal distention, and abdominal mass. This tumor occurs most commonly in the left hemiliver and is thought to mainly develop from a benign biliary cystadenoma (BCA). At present, the disease is mainly diagnosed by ultrasound, CT, MR, and other imaging methods, and the main treatment is radical surgical resection. We reported a 75-year-old female with an unresectable huge BCAC (i.e., 161×145×122 mm in three orthogonal directions) and poor general condition (40 in Karnofsky Performance Status, KPS) who received sequential thermal ablation (i.e., cryoablation and microwave ablation) in combination with sclerotherapy using lauromacrogol. The diagnosis of intrahepatic BCAC was confirmed pathologically. Preablation grayscale US showed the BCAC with a clear boundary, regular shape, and cystic-solid mixed echogenicity, which appeared as a huge multilocular cystic lesions with thick internal sepatations. Preablation contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) showed honeycomb-like hyper-enhancement of the thick internal sepatations and cystic wall in the arterial and portal phase, and sustained enhancement of the thick internal sepatations and cystic wall in the late phase. 6-month postablation CEUS showed non-enhancement in most parts of the lesion in the arterial phase and 6-month postablation MRI showed the volume reduction ratio (VRR) was about 70%. The abdominal pain and abdominal distension were relieved remarkably, and her quality of life was greatly improved (70 in KPS). In conclusion, sequential thermal ablation in combination with sclerotherapy provides a successful translative therapy for this unresectable huge BCAC with a poor general condition, which makes subsequent curative surgery or ablation possible. The liver is one of the most frequent metastatic sites of breast cancer with a relatively poor prognosis. Systemic chemotherapy is an effective treatment but the efficacy is different between the subtypes of breast cancer. Percutaneous thermal ablation is considered to be a minimally invasive and effective local treatment for breast cancer liver metastases (BCLM). This case report described a patient with BCLM who adopted a strategy of systemic chemotherapy and repeated ultrasound (US) -guided percutaneous thermal ablation procedures. INTRODUCTION: Abdominal wall endometriosis (AWE) is a relatively uncommon condition associated with diagnostic and therapeutic difficulties among all the extra pelvic endometriosis. The main therapies include surgery and oral contraceptive administration. Percutaneous cryoablation and high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) are also proven to be valid alternatives. Microwave ablation (MWA) as one of the thermal ablation methods has not been applied in the treatment of AWE yet. Herein the feasibility of ultrasound (US) –guided MWA for AWE was explored and treatment response evaluation was carried out using contrast-enhanced imaging. METHODS: Three consecutive patients who underwent US-guided MWA for AWE with typical symptoms were included in this retrospective study. US, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), laboratory tests, and US-guided core-needle biopsy were conducted for pre-treatment assessment and ruling out malignancy. The interventional procedure was carried out under local anesthesia with MWA and the output power was 60w. Post-treatment contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) was performed to evaluate the instant treatment response. The follow-up intervals were 1 month, 6 months, and 12 months after treatment. The clinical symptoms and condition of AWE lesions were recorded in each follow-up. RESULTS: The MWA procedure was completed in all the patients with no blood perfusion inside each lesion by instant CEUS after treatment. The mean ablation time was 687 seconds (s) for a single patient (ranged from 660s to 742s). Clinical symptoms were relieved evidently at the end of the follow-up. The pain according to the visual analogue scale (VAS) decreased from 4–6 before treatment to 0–2 after treatment. Mild to moderate complications included slightly abdominal pain and fat liquefaction occurred. In terms of technical outcomes, the volume of all six lesions reduced in different degrees at the end of follow-up (ranged: 16.6% to 100%). This reaction utilizes a low-cost, air- and moisture-insensitive nickel pre-catalyst to execute a decarbonylative reaction of acid anhydrides, followed by reaction with an odorless and manageable carbon disulfide, to synthesize various thioesters and thioethers. Background: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic, pruritic, immune‐mediated inflammatory disease. Developments in basic science and clinical research have increased our understanding of AD. Although pain as a symptom of AD is underemphasized in previous studies, multiple researchers address pain as a frequent burden of AD. However, the exact role of pain in AD is not fully understood. Aims: Our review aimed to summarize the current evidence focusing on characteristics, mechanism, and management of pain in AD. Materials & Methods: We conducted a thorough literature review in the PubMed database to figure out different aspects discussing pain in AD, including pain symptoms, burden, the relationship between pain and itch, mechanism, and pain management in AD. Results and Conclusion: AD patients affected by skin pain vary from 42.7%‐92.2% with remarkable intensity and heavy burden. Skin pain and itch interacted both in symptoms and mechanisms. Atopic skin with the impaired barrier, neurogenic inflammation mediators, peripheral and central sensitization of pain may possibly explain pain mechanism in AD. Future research is needed to clarify the commonality and disparity of pain and itch in AD in order to seek efficacious medications and treatment. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Coronary heart disease (CHD) is a common ischaemic heart disease whose pathological mechanism has not been fully elucidated. Single target drugs, such as antiplatelet aggregation, coronary artery dilation and lipid-lowering medicines, can relieve some symptoms clinically but cannot effectively prevent and treat CHD. Accumulating evidence has revealed that alterations in GM composition, diversity, and richness are associated with the risk of CHD. The metabolites of the gut microbiota (GM), including trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO), short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) and bile acids (BAs), affect human physiology by activating numerous signalling pathways. Due to the advantage of multiple components and multiple targets, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) can intervene in CHD by regulating the composition of the GM, reducing TMAO, increasing SCFAs and other CHD interventions. We have searched PubMed, Web of science, Google Scholar Science Direct, and China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), with the use of the keywords "gut microbiota, gut flora, traditional Chinese medicine, herbal medicine, coronary heart disease". This review investigated the relationship between GM and CHD, as well as the intervention of TCM in CHD and GM, and aims to provide valuable insights for the treatments of CHD by TCM. Endometriosis is one of the most common diseases that happen in reproductive women. The main symptoms include ovarian endometrial cyst, pelvic pain, and so on. We report a case of a 23-year-old woman with a refractory long-course ovarian endometrial cyst (OEC). The patient was previously identified to have a hypoechoic mass sized 9.7 cm in diameter on ultrasound (US) in the right ovary and was tentatively diagnosed as OEC in another tertiary hospital, who was then subjected to US-guided cyst sclerotherapy while the procedure was failed since only a very small amount of viscous and sticky fluid can be aspirated. The patient was then referred to our hospital for further treatment. Pretreat contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) showed non-enhancement of the mass with a thin cyst wall and a cyst-in-cyst pattern was observed. The possibility of ovarian malignancy was ruled out and the initial diagnosis of OEC was confirmed. The patient was then subjected to US-guided cyst sclerotherapy with lauromacrogol. The interventional procedure was eventful that no fluid was aspirated as what happened in the previous hospital. Thus urokinase was used to dissolve the old, viscious and sticky blood and finally, all the fluid was aspirated. The total consumption of urokinase was 60,000 U. Then lauromacrogol as a sclerosant was injected into the cyst cavity and the cyst wall was flushed repeatedly with lauromacrogol until the aspirated fluid became light red. Finally, 20 mL lauromacrogol was reserved in the cyst and the interventional procedure cost 2 hours. The post-procedure course was uneventful without any discomfort, and the volume reduction rate of the cyst was 54%at 3-month follow-up. The visual analogue scale for the pain decreased from 4 before treatment to 1 after treatment, indicating a successful and effective outcome for the refractory long-course OEC. Sepsis-induced acute liver injury (ALI) is common in intensive care units. Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) plays a vital role in hepatic fibrosis and steatosis; however, its role in sepsis-induced ALI remains unclear. This study found that hepatic ACE2 expression in cecal ligation and puncture (CLP)-treated mice significantly decreased 24 h after CLP. ACE2-transgenic (TG) mice exhibited a significant improvement in CLP-induced ALI, accompanied by the inhibition of hepatocyte apoptosis, oxidative stress, and inflammation, while ACE2-knockout mice demonstrated an opposite trend. During sepsis-induced ALI, ACE2-TG could also elevate the Ang-(1–7) and Mas receptor (MasR) levels in liver tissues. Interestingly, the MasR inhibitor A779 abrogated the favorable effects of ACE2 on CLP-induced ALI. In a bone marrow transplantation experiment, the ACE2-TG transplantation group showed significantly improved inflammation and liver dysfunction, less hepatocyte apoptosis, and reduced oxidative stress after CLP compared with the wild-type transplantation group. In contrast, the ACE2-knockout group showed poor inflammatory response and liver dysfunction, significantly more hepatocyte apoptosis, and elevated oxidative stress than the wild-type transplantation group after CLP. ACE2 protects against sepsis-induced ALI by inhibiting hepatocyte apoptosis, oxidative stress, and inflammation via the Ang-(1–7)–Mas receptor axis. Hierarchies design of porosity in metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) has gained significant interest in recent years, and customization of mesoporous sizes in MOFs is still quite challenging. Herein, a template‐free method by nucleation‐competition has been developed to realize a near‐linear control of the mesopore sizes (3–13 nm) in the hierarchical MOF UiO‐66(Hf). High selectivity of enzyme adsorption, high activity of bulky‐molecular catalysis, high stability of mesostructure, and extension to other MOFs further prove the success in the potential customization synthesis and applications. A novel fiber sensor based on photonic crystal fiber (PCF) for simultaneous measurement of temperature and humidity is proposed. The PCF is filled with alcohol, which is sensitive to temperature. And it is coated with graphene oxide (GO), which is sensitive to humidity. In the range of 10°C–70°C, the highest temperature sensitivity of the three interference valleys can reach up to 0.182 nm/°C. Similarly, in the range of 30%–70%, the highest humidity sensitivity is 0.109 nm/%RH. During the wide applications of perfluorinated materials such as perfluorooctane sulfonate (PFOS) in commercial and industrial products, the potential toxicity of these engineered compounds has attracted more and more attention. As a typical environmental pollutant, PFOS could preferentially bind to albumin protein in vivo. However, the role of protein–PFOS interactions in the cytotoxicity of PFOS was not stressed enough. Herein, we investigated the interactions of PFOS with human serum albumin (HSA, the most abundant protein in human plasma) using both experimental and theoretical approaches. It was demonstrated that PFOS could mainly bind to the Sudlow site I of HSA to generate HSA-PFOS complex through hydrogen bonds and van der Waals forces. Toxicity assays with endothelial cells illustrated that the binding of HSA could significantly attenuate the intracellular uptake and subcellular distribution of PFOS, thereby inhibiting the formation of reactive oxygen species and toxicity for those HSA-bound PFOS. Similarly, the presence of fetal bovine serum in the cell culture media greatly reduced PFOS-caused cytotoxicity. Conclusively, our study reveals that the binding of albumin protein to PFOS could mitigate its toxicity by the modulation of cellular responses. The formation of protein-complexed contaminants would significantly reduce the bioavailability of these chemicals and subsequently mitigate their environmental toxicology to the human health. The novel multidentate chelating ligands N′-(2-pyridylmethylidene)-2-(2-pyridylmethylideneamino)benzohydrazide (Hpphz) and N′-(2-salicylmethylidene)-2-(2-salicylmethylideneamino)benzohydrazide (H3sshz), which incorporate both amine and acylhydrazine Schiff base groups, were synthesized and investigated in DyIII coordination chemistry. The reactions of Hpphz and Dy(OAc)3·4H2O have yielded two {Dy2} featuring double OAc− bridges: [Dy2(H2aphz)2(OAc)4(ROH)2] [R = Me (1) and Et (2)], where the Hpphz ligands were in situ hydrolyzed into 2-amino-(2-pyridylmethylideneamino)benzohydrazide ions (H2aphz−). Besides, the reaction between H3sshz and Dy(NO)3·6H2O afforded a [Dy6(sshz)4(μ3-OH)4(μ4-O)(MeOH)4]2·17.5MeOH·2H2O cluster (3). This cluster contained two discrete {Dy6} cores, each of which consisted of a pair of {Dy3} triangular units. All the complexes displayed a single relaxation process of single-molecule magnet (SMM) behaviors under a zero dc field. Both 1 and 2 showed field-induced dual magnetic-relaxation behaviors. However, their diluted samples (1@Y and 2@Y) only showed one-step relaxation behaviors whether under a zero or applied dc field, indicating that the dual magnetic-relaxation behaviors of 1 and 2 were absent after the dilution. Combined with ab initio calculations, it could be infered that the dual magnetic-relaxation behaviors of 1 and 2 might be ascribled to the joint contributions of the single ion anisotropy and magnetic interactions. Examples of this type are rather rare in previous studies. Ab initio calculations also suggested that the discrepancy between the relaxation processes of 1 and 2 may be caused by the small difference between their magnetic interactions. [Display omitted] Despite the flourishing studies of droplet interfacial boiling, the boiling upon vibratory surfaces, which may cause vigorous liquid–vapor-solid interactions, has rarely been investigated. Enhanced boiling normally can be gained from rapid removal of vapor and disturbance of liquid–vapor interface. We hypothesize that the vibratory surfaces enhance both effects with new intriguing phenomena and thus, attain an enhanced boiling heat transfer. We experimentally investigated the impacting fluid dynamics and coupled heat transfer patterns of multiple droplets and a single droplet impinging on still and vibratory surfaces of various materials and different wettability. The boiling under vibratory surfaces with increased vibration velocity amplitude and enhanced wettability can be enhanced by 80% in heat transfer coefficient and Nusselt number, which is attributed to several reasons: shortened bubble lifespan, thinner and smaller bubbles, and enhanced disturbances in liquid–vapor interfaces. The vibration also delays the Leidenfrost point when the droplet impacts a descending surface, which shows that the droplet impact moment (vibration phase angle) is particularly crucial. The descending surface releases the generated vapor actively and facilitates liquid–solid contact, thereby delaying the Leidenfrost. From fundamentals to application, this article strengthens our understanding of vibrated interfacial boiling in scenarios closer to multiple natural processes and practical industries. The reaction of Dy(NO3)3·6H2O and an asymmetric Schiff-base linker 5-chloro-2-(((2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzyl)imino)methyl) phenol (H2L) afforded a dinuclear compound [Dy2L2(HL)(NO3)(EtOH)]·0.5C2H5OH (1). Complex 1 features two inequivalent Dy(III) sites, where three ligand sets (one HL− moiety and two L2− groups) are shared by two Dy(III) ions. The strategic introduction of CH3COOH in the reaction system used for synthesizing 1 induces the replacement of the HL− ligand by the CH3COO− ion, consequently resulting in the generation of [Et3NH][Dy2L2(NO3)(CH3COO)2] (2). In complex 2, two Dy(III) centers adopt NO7 (D2d geometry) and NO6 (C2v) coordination sphere, respectively. DC magnetic susceptibility studies for the two complexes indicate ferromagnetic interactions. Complexes 1 and 2 exhibit single-molecule magnet behavior with two-step slow relaxation processes due to the possession of inequivalent metal sites. The energy barriers of 69.19 and 45.73 K for 1, and 92.77 and 72.95 K for 2 are determined. Theoretical calculations reveal that the two-step relaxation processes in both 1 and 2 mainly originate from the single-ion magnetism of two distinct Dy(III) ions with inequivalent coordination environments. Tuning the magnetic anisotropy of metal ions remains highly interesting in the design of improved single‐molecule magnets (SMMs). We herein report synthetic, structural, magnetic, and computational studies of four mononuclear CoII complexes, namely [Co(hfac)2(MeCN)2] (1), [Co(hfac)2(Spy)2] (2), [Co(hfac)2(MBIm)2] (3), and [Co(hfac)2(DMF)2] (4) (MeCN=acetonitrile, hfac=hexafluoroacetylacetone, Spy=4‐styrylpyridine, MbIm=5,6‐dimethylbenzimidazole, DMF=N,N‐dimethylformamide), with distorted octahedral geometry constructed from hexafluoroacetylacetone (hfac) and various axial ligands. By a building block approach, complexes 2–4 were synthesized by recrystallization of the starting material of 1 from various ligands containing solution. Magnetic and theoretical studies reveal that 1–4 possess large positive D values and relative small E parameters, indicating easy‐plane magnetic anisotropy with significant rhombic anisotropy in 1–4. Dynamic alternative current (ac) magnetic susceptibility measurements indicate that these complexes exhibit slow magnetic relaxation under external fields, suggesting field‐induced single‐ion magnets (SIMs) of 1–4. These results provide a promising platform to achieve fine tuning of magnetic anisotropy through varying the axial ligands based on Co(II) bis(hexafluoroacetylacetonate) complexes. We simultaneously assessed the associations for a range of outdoor environmental exposures with prevalent tuberculosis (TB) cases in a population-based health program with 1940,622 participants ≥ 15 years of age. TB status was confirmed through bacteriological and clinical assessment. We measured 14 outdoor environmental exposures at residential addresses. An exposome-wide association study (ExWAS) approach was used to estimate cross-sectional associations between environmental exposures and prevalent TB, an adaptive elastic net model (AENET) was implemented to select important exposure(s), and the Extreme Gradient Boosting algorithm was subsequently applied to assess their relative importance. In ExWAS analysis, 12 exposures were significantly associated with prevalent TB. Eight of the exposures were selected as predictors by the AENET model: particulate matter ≤ 2.5 µm (odds ratio [OR]=1.01, p = 0.3295), nitrogen dioxide (OR=1.09, p < 0.0001), carbon monoxide (OR=1.19, p < 0.0001), and wind speed (OR=1.08, p < 0.0001) were positively associated with the odds of prevalent TB while sulfur dioxide (OR=0.95, p = 0.0017), altitude (OR=0.97, p < 0.0001), artificial light at night (OR=0.98, p = 0.0001), and proportion of forests, shrublands, and grasslands (OR=0.95, p < 0.0001) were negatively associated with the odds of prevalent TB. Air pollutants had higher relative importance than meteorological and geographical factors, and the outdoor environment collectively explained 11% of TB prevalence. The synthesis, single-crystal structures and magnetic properties of two new double-zigzag-chain cyano-bridged heterobimetallic {[MII(Py-NOH)2][FeIII(Tp*)(CN)3]2}·H2O ([Fe III2 MII]) (Py–NOH = 4-pyridinealdoxime, Tp* = tris(3,5-dimethylpyrazol-1-yl)borohydride, M = Ni (1), Fe (2)) compounds are reported. The crystal structures of both compounds were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Complexes 1 and 2 are isostructural, with the crystal structure comprising neutral double-zigzag (4,2-ribbon-like) bimetallic chains. The FeIII ion is coordinated by three cyanide carbon atoms and three nitrogen atoms of Tp* anions. However, the MII ion is surrounded by four cyanide nitrogen atoms and two nitrogen atoms from two Py-NOH ligands. The crystal structures and magnetic studies demonstrate that both complexes behave as single-chain magnetics (SCMs) with intrachain ferromagnetic coupling. Furthermore, [Fe III2 NiII] exhibits an excellent coercive field of 0.42 T at 1.8 K, among cyano-bridged 3d transition-metal-based SCMs reported thus far. Abstract Bifunctional Cr-MOF catalysts containing palladium nanoparticles (NPs) have been prepared. Combining the high activity of Pd NPs and base sites in MIL-101-NH 2 , the catalysts (Pd@MIL-101-NH 2) exhibited distinct catalytic activity in a one-pot Suzuki-Knoevenagel reaction. Pd@MIL-101-NH 2 has been characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). Various substituted phenylboronic acids were used to research the one-pot reaction. The results were highly satisfactory, not only got high yield, but reduced reaction time. Leakage experiments further demonstrated that there is no leaching of active palladium nanoparticles during the reactions. Catalysts could be reused for at least five cycles and activity is not significantly decreased. Nicotinamide (Nam) has recently been characterized as an agent for tissue regeneration due to the observed pro-proliferation effects. However, the effect of Nam on liver regeneration remains undetermined. In the present study, the potency of Nam as a regimen to promote liver regeneration and restore liver function was evaluated following partial hepatectomy (PH) on C57BL/6 mice. Ki-67 immunohistochemical and cell cycle analyses demonstrated that exogenous Nam supplementation promoted the proliferation of hepatocytes and accelerated the recovery of liver tissue. The addition of Nam protected liver function following PH, as evidenced by hematoxylin and eosin staining of liver tissue morphology and measurement of serum liver injury markers. Notably, immunoblotting results revealed that the expression and activity of NAD-dependent protein deacetylase sirtuin-1 (SIRT1) were significantly upregulated following treatment with Nam, suggesting that Nam may promote liver regeneration through activation of SIRT1. The present study demonstrated that Nam regulated the process of liver regeneration and improved liver function by activating SIRT1, suggesting that Nam has the potency to be used for promoting liver regeneration following surgical resection. Abstract Background and Objective Due to the synergistic effects of drugs, drug combination is one of the effective approaches for treating complex diseases. However, the identification of drug combinations by dose-response methods is still costly. It is promising to develop supervised learning-based approaches to predict potential drug combinations on a large scale. Nevertheless, these approaches have the inadequate utilization of heterogeneous features, which causes the loss of information useful to classification. Moreover, they have an intrinsic bias, because they assume unknown drug pairs as non-combinations, of which some could be real drug combinations in practice. Methods To address above issues, this work first designs a two-layer multiple classifier system (TLMCS) to effectively integrate heterogeneous features involving anatomical therapeutic chemical codes of drugs, drug-drug interactions, drug-target interactions, gene ontology of drug targets, and side effects. To avoid the bias caused by labelling unknown samples as negative, it then utilizes the one-class support vector machines, (which requires no negative instance and only labels approved drug combinations as positive instances), as the member classifiers in TLMCS. Last, both a 10-fold cross validation (10-CV) and a novel prediction are performed to validate the performance of TLMCS. Results The comparison with three state-of-the-art approaches under 10-CV exhibits the superiority of TLMCS, which achieves the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve = 0.824 and the area under the precision-recall curve = 0.372. Moreover, the experiment under the novel prediction demonstrates its ability, where 9 out of the top-20 predicted combinative drug pairs are validated by checking the published literature. Furthermore, for each of the newly-validated drug combinations, this work analyses the combining mode of the member drugs and investigates their relationship in terms of drug targeting pathways. Conclusions The proposed TLMCS provides an effective framework to integrate those heterogeneous features and is trained by only positive samples such that the bias of taking unknown drug pairs as negative samples can be avoided. It is of particular interest to use biomass as an alternative source of fuel in direct-reduction ironmaking to ease the current reliance on fossil fuel energy. The influence of cow dung addition on the strength of carbon-bearing iron ore pellets composed of cow dung, iron ore, anthracite, and bentonite was investigated, the quality of green and dry pellet was evaluated based on FTIR analysis, and the mechanism of strength variation of the reduced pellets was investigated by analysing the phase composition and microstructure using XRD and SEM. The results show that cow dung addition decreased the green pellet strength due to expansion of the amorphous region of the cellulose in the cow dung; however, the dry pellet strength increased substantially. In the process of reduction roasting, it was found that cow dung addition can promote aggregation of iron crystals and increase the density of the pellets, resulting in increased strength of the reduction roasted pellets, while excessive cow dung addition resulted in lower strength. Cutaneous Leishmaniasis (CL) is the most common clinical form of leishmaniasis. Despite its low mortality, CL deserves further attention because its pathogenesis is currently no well-known or well-researched. We downloaded the gene expression datasets of GSE55664 and GSE63931 with respect to leishmaniasis from the Gene Expression Synthesis (GEO) database. Additionally, the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in the infection and control groups were identified by packages of R software. The Gene Ontology (GO) function, Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), and Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA) pathway were utilized for the biological functional analysis. Subsequently, we identified the top ten hub genes from protein-protein interaction (PPI) networks based on STRING and Cytoscape software. The hub genes were validated in GraphPad Prism 8.0 using the GSE162760 dataset. Further, CIBERSORT was used to evaluate the immune cell infiltration proportions between the CL infection samples and the control samples based on the GSE43880 and GSE55664 datasets. The enrichment analysis revealed that DEGs were significantly involved in cell-mediated immune responses, such as leukocyte cell-cell adhesion and T-cell activation. STAT1, CCR7, CCR2, and CXCL10 were identified as hub genes with statistical significance. These hub genes showed close correlations with various immune cells, such as M1 cells and CD4-activated memory T-cells. In our research, we used bioinformatics analysis to identify some molecular biomarkers and significant pathways in CL infection. Elevated heart rate (HR) can be hypothesized to be involved in the pathways by which ambient air pollution, especially fine particulate matter (PM2.5), causes cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. However, evidence concerning long-term PM2.5 exposure and HR is still limited. Therefore, in this study, we assessed the associations of PM2.5 with HR levels and tachycardia prevalence and explored potential modifiers of the associations. We used baseline data of 1,802,207 adults from the Kashgar Prospective Cohort Study (KPCS). PM2.5 exposure was assessed based on satellite sensing data, meteorological factors, multi-resolution emission inventory, and measurements from ground-based surface monitors measurements. HR was measured using a calibrated electronic sphygmomanometer, and tachycardia was defined as resting heart rate (RHR) equal to or greater than 80 beats per minute. Linear regression and logistic regression models were employed to evaluate the associations of PM2.5 levels with RHR levels and tachycardia prevalence, respectively. Stratified analyses by sex, age, ethnicity, smoking status, alcohol use, and physical activity were also performed. The mean (standard deviation) age of the study participants was 39.4 (15.5) years old. In the adjusted models, an interquartile range (8.8 µg/m3) increase in PM2.5 levels was associated with 0.515 (95% confidence interval: 0.503–0.526) bpm increase in RHR levels and with 1.062-fold (95% confidence interval: 1.059–1.064) increase in the odds of tachycardia. The results were robust against several sensitivity analyses. In addition, we observed the above associations were stronger in participants that were men, of Uyghur ethnicity, smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, and having physical inactivity, compared to their counterparts. In summary, our findings indicate that long-term exposure to ambient PM2.5 may be hazardously associated with HR, and women, Uyghur people, and those with unhealthy lifestyles may be more vulnerable to the hazardous effects. Lung cancer is the most common type of cancer with the highest mortality rate worldwide. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounts for ~85% of the total number of lung cancer cases. In the past two decades, immunotherapy has become a more promising treatment method than traditional treatments (surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy). Immunotherapy has been shown to improve the survival rate of patients and to have a superior effect when controlling lung cancer than traditional therapy. However, only a small number of patients can benefit from immunotherapy, and not all patients who qualify experience long-term benefits. In the clinic, the objective response rate of programmed cell death protein 1 treatment without the prior screening of patients is only 15–20%. Immunotherapy is associated with both opportunities and challenges for patients with NSCLC. The current challenges of immunotherapy include the lack of accurate biomarkers, inevitable resistance and insufficient understanding of immune checkpoints. In previous years, several methods for overcoming the challenges posed by immunotherapy have been proposed, but combination therapy is the most suitable choice. A large number of studies have shown that the combination of drugs can significantly improve their efficacy, compared with monotherapy, and that some therapeutic combinations have been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of NSCLC. Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is a traditional medical practice in China that can play an important role in immunotherapy. Most agents used in TCM originate from plants, and have the advantages of low toxicity and multiple targets. In addition, TCM includes a unique class of drugs that can improve autoimmunity. Russula is the largest genus in the Russulales and is widespread throughout the world. Almost all Russula species are known to be ectomycorrhizal with high ecological and edible values, and some are lethal poisonous. In this study, four new species belonging to the subgenus Russula crown clade are identified based on morphological and phylogenetic evidence from the Xizang Autonomous Region and other provinces of China. Morphologically, Russula paragraveolens (sect. Polychromae, subsect. Xerampelinae) is mainly characterised by a cherry red to blood red pileus centre, a reddish orange pileus margin; R. pseudograveolens (sect. Polychromae, subsect. Xerampelinae) is characterised by a violet brown to brownish red pileus centre, a pale red to pastel red pileus margin and short basidia; R. shigatseensis (sect. Flavisiccantes, subsect. Lepidinae) is characterised by a brownish orange to madder red pileus centre, pinkish red pileus margin, and having lateral branches or branches of hyphal terminations in pileipellis; R. yadongensis (sect. Tenellae, subsect. Laricinae) is characterised by a dark purplish red pileus centre with brownish purple tints and having isolated to clustered spines of spore ornamentations. The development of a facile and reliable assay for arsenic (As) detection is crucial for its pollution control, which is a well-known heavy-metal pollutant in the environment. In this work, an efficient colorimetric method was established for As(V) detection based on a novel cuboid-shape Mn-Urea nanozyme (UMnzyme) with arsenic-enhanced oxidase-like activity. The UMnzyme was prepared through the coordination of Mn ions and carbonyl groups in urea, which possesses outstanding oxidase-like activity that can generate the superoxide anion free radical (O2˙−) by catalyzing the dissolved O2, triggering the 3,3′,5,5′-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) chromogenic reaction. Furthermore, the free oxygen atoms in UMnzyme provide potential sites to bind with As, in which the formation of As–O will not destroy the morphology and structure of UMnzyme. The capture of As by UMnzyme results in the improvement of its oxidase-like activity; therefore, a colorimetric method for As(V) detection was developed with a linear range of 12.5–250 μg L−1. The limit of detection was determined to be 2.4 μg L−1 (S/N = 3), which is lower than the threshold (10 ppb) recommended by the World Health Organization. Moreover, the developed method was applied in the detection of As(V) in environmental water, and the recoveries are 89.5–103.6%. In short, this study provides an efficient and reliable strategy for As(V) detection based on a novel Mn-based nanozyme and a new idea for the reasonable design of Mn-based nanozymes with enhanced catalytic performance. Exocytosis involving the fusion of intracellular vesicles with cell membrane, is thought to be modulated by the mechanical cues in the microenvironment. Single‐cell electrochemistry can offer unique information about the quantification and kinetics of exocytotic events; however, the effects of mechanical force on vesicular release have been poorly explored. Herein, we developed a stretchable microelectrode with excellent electrochemical stability under mechanical deformation by microfabrication of functionalized poly(3,4‐ethylenedioxythiophene) conductive ink, which achieved real‐time quantitation of strain‐induced vesicular exocytosis from a single cell for the first time. We found that mechanical strain could cause calcium influx via the activation of Piezo1 channels in chromaffin cell, initiating the vesicular exocytosis process. Interestingly, mechanical strain increases the amount of catecholamines released by accelerating the opening and prolonging the closing of fusion pore during exocytosis. Abstract: Here, we investigated the lithium insertion/extraction mechanism in single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) based both on the empty SWNTs and filled SWNTs, including ferrocene-filled SWNTs (Fc@SWNTs) and C60-filled SWNTs (C60@SWNTs). SWNTs, C60@SWNTs and Fc@SWNTs were systematically investigated as anode materials for Li-ion batteries. The electrochemical performance of the C60@SWNT electrode was slightly better than that of the SWNTs, and the reversible capacity of Fc@SWNTs per unit weight was ∼1.7 times greater than that of the empty SWNTs due to its special tube internal structure. It was proved that the dominant reversible sites for lithium storage in empty SWNTs are the trigonal interstitial channels. Meanwhile, lithium can reversibly insert or extract the inner channels of the tubes after doping with ferrocene; the reversible capacity presented in the inner channels of Fc@SWNTs is about Li1.13C6. Currently, conventional methods of treating non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) have many disadvantages. An alternative effective therapy with minimal adverse reactions is urgently needed. Weijing decoction (WJD), which is a classic ancient Chinese herbal prescription, has been used successfully to treat pulmonary system diseases containing lung cancer in the clinic. However, the key active component and target of Weijing decoction are still unexplored. Therefore, for the first time, our study aims to investigate the pharmacological treatment mechanism of Weijing decoction in treating NSCLC via an integrated model of network pharmacology, metabolomics and biological methods. Network pharmacology results conjectured that Tricin is a main bioactive component in this formula which targets PRKCA to suppress cancer cell growth. Metabolomics analysis demonstrated that sphingosine-1-phosphate, which is regulated by sphingosine kinase 1 and sphingosine kinase 2, is a differential metabolite in plasma between the WJD-treated group and the control group, participating in the sphingolipid signaling. In vitro experiments demonstrated that Tricin had vital effects on the proliferation, pro-apoptosis, migration and colony formation of Lewis lung carcinoma cells. Through a series of validation assays, Tricin inhibited the tumor growth mainly by suppressing PRKCA/SPHK/S1P signaling and antiapoptotic signaling. On the other hand, Weijing formula could inhibit the tumor growth and prolong the survival time. A high dosage of Tricin was much more potent in animal experiments. In conclusion, we confirmed that Weijing formula and its primary active compound Tricin are promising alternative treatments for NSCLC patients. A biosensor modified by graphene oxide (GO)–glucose oxidase (GOD) for glucose detection is proposed and demonstrated. Gluconic acid and H 2 O 2 are produced by the reaction between GOD and glucose, and due to the large change of the refractive index (RI) around the sensor, the drift of the interference valleys appears in the transmission spectrum clearly. With this method, a symmetric lateral-offset sensor based on photonic crystal fiber (PCF) is fabricated. Response characteristics of glucose concentration are tested in the range of 10 g/L to 70 g/L. Experimental results show that the sensitivity to glucose concentration can be represented by a quadratic curve, and it has good sensitivity as well as linearity. The temperature sensitivities in the range of 5 °C–30 °C are 0.061 nm/°C and 0.159 nm/°C, which can realize dual-parameter measurement. γ-Valerolactone (GVL) is an important lignocellulosic platform molecule with huge potential for various industrial and chemical applications, which is usually produced using levulinic acid (LA) or its esters as raw materials. However, a two-step reaction process in which hydrogenation of the carbonyl groups on metal sites and subsequent lactonization catalyzed by acidic sites over multiple catalysts has generally been needed to realize this synthesis. In this work, a hierarchically multifunctional single catalyst of Ru/phosphotungstic acid/hierarchically porous UiO-66 (Ru/HPW/HP-UiO-66), simultaneously integrated with acidic and metal sites, has been fabricated via a simple strategy and successfully applied in the one-pot synthesis of GVL using methyl levulinate (ML) as the raw material. The hierarchically porous and nanosized (∼15 nm) HP-UiO-66 can not only provide sufficient space for the mass transfer of substrates but also favors the loading of bulk HPW molecules, which can effectively mediate the catalytic activities and stability of Ru NPs using the confined pore effect of UiO-66 and the strong interaction between HPW and Ru. When applied in the one-pot synthesis of GVL, the hierarchical Ru/HPW/HP-UiO-66 catalyst showed excellent catalytic activity (>97% yield) and stability (maintained after 7 successive cycles) for GVL. More importantly, the hierarchical catalyst also exhibited an extraordinary performance in the hydrogenation of different unsaturated hydrocarbons in aqueous solution. The formation of p‐ or n‐type material via impurity doping should be crucial and essentially prior to the establishment of junction devices in semiconductor processing. Especially in a 2D transition‐metal dichalcogenide (TMD), dopant selection for growing p‐ and n‐type TMD semiconductors may suffer much higher difficulty and complexity than conventional Si and III–V compounds owing to the complicated valences occurred in transition metals. Different amount of chromium doped in ReSe2 interestingly showing dissimilar carrier types of p‐ReSe2 with Cr 10% and 20% doping and n‐ReSe2 with Cr 0%, 1%, and 5% doping, respectively, is presented here. According to structural and optical characterization, the crystal structure and bandgap of the Cr‐doped ReSe2 remain unchanged in which a deeper donor of Cr6+ can exist in n‐ReSe2 (1% and 5%) while a shallow acceptor of Cr3+ may appear in p‐ReSe2 multilayer (10% and 20%). A p–n homojunction light‐emitting diode made by stacking multilayered n‐ReSe2 (Cr 0%) and p‐ReSe2 (Cr 20%) is first fabricated, and it emits an electroluminescence of ≈946 nm from the band edge. Another p–n homojunction solar cell is also manufactured to exhibit a maximum axial conversion efficiency of η ≈ 1.05% along with the b‐axis polarization of ReSe2. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Three non-classical amphiphilic phenylazoimidazole derivatives, viz. 2-methyl-4-(p-tolylazo)-1H-imidazole (4-TAIM), 2-methyl-4-(phenylazo)-1H-imidazole (4-PAIM), and 2-methyl-4-(p-bromophenylazo)-1H-imidazole (4-BPAIM), were synthesized herein and their in-situ molecular assemblies upon coordination with AgNO 3 in the monolayer at the air/water interface were investigated. The surface pressure-area (π-A) isotherms showed that all these compounds could be spread on the surface of the AgNO 3 solution, although they have no alkyl chains. The transferred multilayers were arranged in an H -aggregate and showed good photochromic properties, with 40%, 50%, and 20% trans -to- cis photoisomerization in the photo-stationary state for 4-TAIM, 4-PAIM, and 4-BPAIM films respectively. Notably, the Ag(I)-coordinated 4-PAIM films show supramolecular chirality, although the azo-imidazole ligand 4-PAIM itself is achiral. This supramolecular chirality was suggested to be due to a cooperative, stereoregular, π-π stacking between the neighboring azophenyl imidazolium units, and the orderly interfacial organization with symmetry breaking in some systems. Organic small‐molecule fluorophores, characterized by flexible chemical structure and adjustable optical performance, have shown tremendous potential in biosensing. However, classical organic fluorophore motifs feature large overlap between excitation and emission spectra, leading to the requirement of advanced optical set up to filter desired signal, which limits their application in scenarios with simple settings. Here, a series of wavelength‐tunable small‐molecule fluorescent dyes (PTs) bearing simple organic moieties have been developed, which exhibit Stokes shift up to 262 nm, molar extinction coefficients ranged 30,000–100,000 M−1 cm−1, with quantum yields up to 54.8 %. Furthermore, these dyes were formulated into fluorescent nanoparticles (PT‐NPs), and applied in lateral flow assay (LFA). Consequently, limit of detection for SARS‐CoV‐2 nucleocapsid protein reached 20 fM with naked eye, a 100‐fold improvement in sensitivity compared to the pM detection level for colloidal gold‐based LFA. Background The effect of a healthy lifestyle on dementia associated with multimorbidity is not well understood. Our objective is to examine whether the adoption of a healthy lifestyle could potentially reduce the elevated risk of dementia in individuals with and without multimorbidity. Methods We utilized data from the UK Biobank cohort. A comprehensive healthy lifestyle score, ranging from 0 to 6, was generated. Cox proportional hazards models were used to examine the associations between multimorbidity, the healthy lifestyle score, and the incidence risk of dementia. Results Over a median follow-up period of 12.5 years, 5 852 all-cause dementia were recorded. Multimorbidity including cardiovascular, metabolic, neuropsychiatric, and inflammation-related diseases was associated with a higher risk of subsequent dementia. Each additional chronic disease was associated with a hazard ratio (HR) of 1.38 (95% CI: 1.33, 1.44). Compared to individuals without multimorbidity and a healthy lifestyle score of 5–6, patients with multimorbidity and a lifestyle score of 0–1 had a significantly higher risk of dementia (HR: 3.13; 95% CI: 2.64, 3.72), but the risk was markedly attenuated among those with multimorbidity and a lifestyle score of 5–6. Among patients with 3 or more diseases, the HR for dementia was 0.53 (95%CI: 0.42, 0.68) when comparing a lifestyle score of 5–6 to 0–1. And we observed more pronounced association between them among people younger than 60 years old. Conclusions Adherence to a combination of healthy lifestyle factors, especially at a young age, was associated with a significantly lower risk of dementia among participants with multimorbidity. Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) with accurately directional and well‐ordered channels are considered ideal solid‐state Li‐ion conductors and are expected to be utilized in solid‐state lithium–oxygen (Li–O2) batteries to achieve rechargeable batteries with high energy density. However, the instability of MOFs toward air and lithium metal has become a crucial problem to overcome. Herein, a breakthrough is first realized in overcoming these challenges by utilizing cationic MOF (CMOF) as an advanced Li‐ion conductor. Benefiting from the positively charged sites in the CMOF, an outstanding Li+ conductivity of 6.45 × 10−4 S cm−1 at room temperature, a low activation energy of 0.15 eV, and a high transference number of 0.59 are achieved. In particular, the CMOF shows high flame retardancy, H2O, and O2− stability, which are key factors that affect the battery performance of Li–O2 batteries. Such extraordinary Li+ transport makes the assembled solid‐state Li–O2 battery cycle up to 790 h with a low overpotential of 1.09 V. Rechargeable lithium–oxygen batteries (LOBs) are considered to be one of the most promising energy storage systems. However, the use of reactive lithium (Li) metal and the formation of Li dendrites during battery operation would lead to serious safety concerns, especially when flammable liquid electrolytes are utilized. Herein, superior metal–organic framework (MOF) glass‐based solid‐state electrolytes (SSEs) is developed for stable all‐solid‐state LOBs (SSLOBs). These non‐flammable and boundary‐free MOF glass SSEs are capable of suppressing the dendrite growth and exhibiting long‐term Li stripping/plating stability, contributing to superior Li+ conductivity (5 × 10−4 S cm−1 at 20 °C), high Li+ transference number (0.86), and good electrochemical stability. It is discovered that discharge product deposition behavior in the solid‐solid interface can be well regulated by the ion/electron mixed conducted cathode fabricated with MOF glass SSEs and electronic conductive polymers. As a result, the SSLOBs can be stably recharged for 400 cycles with a low polarization gap and deliver a high capacity of 13552 mAh g−1. This work reports a new luminescent metal−organic framework Material {[Cd 3 (BPDPE) 3 (suc)(HCOO) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ·(NO 3) 2 } n (1), which was synthesized by 4,4-dipyridyldiphenyl ether (BPDPE) and succinic acid (suc) under solvothermal conditions. It is initially the 2D network constructed by succinic acid, and further connected by BPDPE forming 3D cationic framework with free nitrate anions. It is worthy noting that complex 1 exhibits excellent structural stability in the pH range of 2–12. The detection of NACs demonstrates that the complex could be acted as a functional probe material for sensing 2,4,6-trinitrophenol (TNP) with high sensitivity and selectivity, the detection limit (LOD) for TNP was up to 1.52 ​× ​10−7 ​M. Further more, the probable detect mechanisms were studied both experiments and calculations. Sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy (SIC), caused by a dysregulated host response to infection, is a major contributor to high mortality. Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2), a crucial component of the renin-angiotensin system (RAS), has protective effects against several cardiovascular diseases, such as myocardial infarction and heart failure. However, the role of ACE2 in the pathogenesis of SIC and underlying mechanisms remain unknown. The present study was designed to examine the effects of ACE2 activation or inhibition on SIC in C57BL/6 mice. The ACE2 activator diminazene aceturate (DIZE) and ACE2 inhibitor MLN-4760 were applied for treatment. Myocardial function, inflammatory response, oxidative stress, apoptosis and mitochondrial biogenesis were investigated. Major assays were echocardiography, H&E staining, immunofluorescence staining, DHE staining, TUNEL staining, Western blot, qPCR analysis, ELISA and corresponding kits. We confirmed that ACE2 was markedly downregulated in septic heart tissues. Pharmacological activation of ACE2 by DIZE ameliorated cecal ligation puncture (CLP)-induced mortality, cardiac dysfunction, inflammatory response, oxidative stress and the cardiomyocyte apoptosis by promoting MasR-Sirt1-mediated mitochondrial biogenesis. In contrast, SIC was aggravated via inhibiting MasR-Sirt1-mediated mitochondrial biogenesis by the use of ACE2 inhibitor MLN-4760. Consequently, activation of ACE2 may protect against SIC by promoting MasR-Sirt1-mediated mitochondrial biogenesis. A working model for the effects of DIZE and MLN-4760 on SIC. Sepsis induces downregulation of ACE2, which inhibits mitochondrial biogenesis and function, thereby leading to myocardial injury and function impairment in septic mice. A temperature and humidity sensor based on photonic crystal fiber(PCF) coated with graphene oxide (GO) cascaded with two spherical structures is presented and demonstrated. The principle of this sensor is based on Mach–Zehnder interferometer (MZI), and the interference spectrum is sensitive to the change of temperature and humidity. Because of the hydrophilic property of GO, refractive index (RI) of the fiber surface changes significantly with the variation of humidity. Therefore, the GO film deposited on the PCF surface can improve the humidity sensitivity of the sensor. Experimental results show that the temperature sensitivities are 0.063 nm/°C and 0.086 nm/°C from 10°C to 70°C. The humidity sensitivities are 0.128 nm/%RH and 0.159 nm/%RH from 30% to 70%.
