Several studies indicated that autophagy activation participates in brain ischemic tolerance (BIT) induced by cerebral ischemic preconditioning (CIP). However, the mechanism of autophagy activation during the process still remains unclear. The present study aimed to evaluate the role of p38 MAPK-peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) signaling cascade in autophagy during the CIP-induced BIT. The results shown that, initially, autophagy activation was observed after CIP in the model of global cerebral ischemia in rats, as was indicated by the upregulation of Beclin 1 expression, an increase in LC3-II/LC3-I ratio, the enhanced LC3 immunofluorescence, and a rise in the number of autophagosomes in the neurons of the hippocampal CA1 area. Besides, the inhibitor of autophagy 3-methyladenine obliterated the neuroprotection induced by CIP. Furthermore, the upregulation of p-p38 MAPK and PPARγ expressions was earlier than autophagy activation after CIP. In addition, pretreatment with SB203580 (the inhibitor of p38 MAPK) reversed CIP-induced PPARγ upregulation, autophagy activation, and neuroprotection. Pretreatment with GW9662 (the inhibitor of PPARγ) reversed autophagy activation and neuroprotection, while it had no effect on p-p38 MAPK upregulation induced by CIP. These data suggested that the p38 MAPK-PPARγ signaling pathway participates in autophagy activation during the induction of BIT by CIP.

Cerebral ischemic preconditioning (CIP)-induced brain ischemic tolerance protects neurons from subsequent lethal ischemic insult. However, the specific mechanisms underlying CIP remain unclear. In the present study, we explored the hypothesis that peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) participates in the upregulation of Klotho during the induction of brain ischemic tolerance by CIP. First we investigated the expression of Klotho during the brain ischemic tolerance induced by CIP. Lethal ischemia significantly decreased Klotho expression from 6 h to 7 days, while CIP significantly increased Klotho expression from 12 h to 7 days in the hippocampal CA1 region. Inhibition of Klotho expression by its shRNA blocked the neuroprotection induced by CIP. These results indicate that Klotho participates in brain ischemic tolerance by CIP. Furthermore, we tested the role of PPARγ in regulating Klotho expression after CIP. CIP caused PPARγ protein translocation to the nucleus in neurons in the CA1 region of the hippocampus. Pretreatment with GW9962, a PPARγ inhibitor, significantly attenuated the upregulation of Klotho protein and blocked the brain ischemic tolerance induced by CIP. Taken together, it can be concluded that Klotho upregulation via PPARγ contributes to the induction of brain ischemic tolerance by CIP.

Carbon black (CB) has been demonstrated to have adverse effects on the lung tissue. Few studies explored the effects of CB on the cerebellum, widely recognized to contribute to gait and balance coordination and timing in the motor domain. Some studies have reported that inflammatory response and damaged autophagy are important mechanisms of CB toxicity and can be repaired after the recovery. The present study aimed to determine whether long-term CB exposure could induce the inflammation and damaged autophagy of the cerebellum. The rats were randomly divided into four groups. The control group received the filtered air for 90 days; the carbon black (CB) group received CB particles for 90 days; the recovery (R) group received CB for 90 days and recovered for another 14 days; the recovery control (RC) group received filtered air for 104 days. The purpose of the R group was to test whether neuroinflammation and autophagy could be repaired after short-term recovery. The western blot and immunohistochemistry revealed that long-term CB exposure induced augmented level of pro-inflammatory cytokines (Interleukin-1β, IL-1β; Interleukin-6, IL-6; and Tumor Necrosis Factor-α, TNF-α) and anti-inflammatory cytokine (Interleukin-10, IL-10). The autophagic markers (Beclin1 and LC3) were increased in both CB group and R group. These findings clearly demonstrated that long-term CB exposure induced inflammation and autophagy in the cerebellum, which were not obviously improved after short-term recovery.

To accurately understand the biological pollution level and toxicity of polydisperse nanoplastics, an effective solution is presented to separate polydisperse nanoplastics and detect their size, mass and number concentration in a biological matrix by asymmetrical flow field fractionation coupled with a diode array detector and a multiangle light scattering detector.

Backgrounds Due to the unexpected side effects of the iodinated contrast agents, novel contrast agents for X-ray computed tomography (CT) imaging are urgently needed. Nanoparticles made by heavy metal elements are often employed, such as gold and bismuth. These nanoparticles have the advantages of long in vivo circulation time and tumor targeted ability. However, due to the long residence time in vivo, these nanoparticles may bring unexpected toxicity and, the preparation methods of these nanoparticles are complicated and time—consuming. Methods In this investigation, a small molecular bismuth chelate using diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (DPTA) as the chelating agent was proposed to be an ideal CT contrast agent. Results The preparation method is easy and cost—effective. Moreover, the bismuth agent show better CT imaging for kidney than iohexol in the aspect of improved CT values. Up to 500 µM, the bismuth agent show negligible toxicity to L02 cells and negligible hemolysis. And, the bismuth agent did not induce detectable morphology changes to the main organs of the mice after intravenously repeated administration at a high dose of 250 mg/kg. The pharmacokinetics of the bismuth agent follows the first—order elimination kinetics and, it has a short half—life time of 0.602 h. The rapid clearance from the body promised its excellent biocompatibility. Conclusions This bismuth agent may serve as a potential candidate for developing novel contrast agent for CT imaging in clinical applications.

To evaluate the determinants of failure rate and reproducibility of computed tomography feature tracking (CT-FT) derived left ventricular (LV) strain.Subjects who underwent retrospectively electrocardiogram gated coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) were included in this study. CCTA image quality and strain curve were visually evaluated to determine whether the images were optimal for CT-FT strain analysis. Parameters of global strain, regional longitudinal strain (LS), territory LS, segmental LS, and LS mechanical dispersion were obtained. Reproducibility was quantified by intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), Bland-Altman analysis, and coefficient of variation (CV).A total of 809 subjects were included in the final study cohort, and 625 subjects had complete LV CT-FT strain analysis. The risk factors for failed LV strain analysis were high average heart rate (odds ratios [OR] = 5.52; 95% confidence interval [95 %CI]: 3.59-8.68), high heart rate variation (OR = 2.7; 95% CI = 1.54-3.68), and older age (OR = 1.87; 95% CI = 1.24-2.84). Tube current modulation was inversely related to failure of LV strain analysis (OR = 0.19; 95% CI = 0.11-0.34). The intraobserver reproducibility of global strain was excellent (ICCs: 0.90-0.98, CVs: 3.4-9.7%), and the interobserver reproducibility was excellent (ICCs: 0.84-0.96, CVs: 4.4-11.9%), except for global radial strain. The intra- and interobserver ICCs of territory LS ranged from 0.83 to 0.97 and 0.76 to 0.95, while the CVs ranged from 3.7% to 9.2% and 4.6% to 10.6%.The intra- and inter-observer ICCs of regional LS ranged from 0.82 to 0.95 and 0.79 to 0.94, while the CVs ranged from 5.5% to 10.2% and 5.7% to 11.0%. The reproducibility of segmental LS was variable, and the ICCs were below 0.75 in 60.8% (31/51) segments. The reproducibility of LS mechanical dispersion was poor (the ICCs were below 0.50, and the CVs were greater than 20%).Controlling heart rate during CT scanning is essential to perform a successful analysis of LV CT-FT strain. The reproducibility of CT-FT-derived global strain, regional LS, and territory LS was good to excellent, while the segmental LS should be used with caution in clinical practice, and LS mechanical dispersion is not recommended at present.

Glial glutamate transporter 1 (GLT-1) plays a vital role in the induction of brain ischemic tolerance (BIT) by ischemic preconditioning (IPC). However, the mechanism still needs to be further explained. The aim of this study was to investigate whether peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) participates in regulating GLT-1 during the acquisition of BIT induced by IPC. Initially, cerebral IPC induced BIT and enhanced PPARγ and GLT-1 expression in the CA1 hippocampus in rats. The ratio of nuclear/cytoplasmic PPARγ was also increased. At the same time, the up-regulation of PPARγ expression in astrocytes in the CA1 hippocampus was revealed by double immunofluorescence for PPARγ and glial fibrillary acidic protein. Then, the mechanism by which PPARγ regulates GLT-1 was studied in rat cortical astrocyte-neuron cocultures. We found that IPC [45 min of oxygen glucose deprivation (OGD)] protected neuronal survival after lethal OGD (4 h of OGD), which usually leads to neuronal death. The activation of PPARγ occurred earlier than the up-regulation of GLT-1 in astrocytes after IPC, as determined by western blot and immunofluorescence. Moreover, the preadministration of the PPARγ antagonist T0070907 or PPARγ siRNA significantly attenuated GLT-1 up-regulation and the neuroprotective effects induced by IPC in vitro. Finally, the effect of the PPARγ antagonist on GLT-1 expression and BIT was verified in vivo. We observed that the preadministration of T0070907 by intracerebroventricular injection dose-dependently attenuated the up-regulation of GLT-1 and BIT induced by cerebral IPC in rats. The previous studies have shown that glial glutamate transporter-1 (GLT-1) participates in cerebral ischemic injury in rats. However, the mechanism involved remains to be elucidated. This study was undertaken to investigate whether p38 MAPK was involved in regulating GLT-1 in the process. At first, it was observed that global brain ischemia for 8 min led to obvious delayed neuronal death, GLT-1 down-regulation and p-p38 MAPK up-regulation in CA1 hippocampus in rats. Then, whether p-p38 MAPK was involved in regulating GLT-1 during cerebral ischemic injury was studied in vitro. Astrocyte-neuron co-cultures exposed to oxygen and glucose deprivation (OGD) were used to mimic brain ischemia. It was observed that lethal OGD (4-h OGD) decreased GLT-1 expression and increased p-p38 MAPK expression in astrocytes. The p-p38 MAPK protein rised from 0 min to 48 h that is the end time of the observation, and the peak value was at 12 h, which was 12.45 times of the control group. Moreover, pre-administration of p38 MAPK inhibitor SB203580 or its siRNA dose-dependently increased GLT-1 expression, and meanwhile alleviated the neuronal death induced by lethal OGD. The above results indicated that p38 MAPK signaling pathway participated in regulating GLT-1 during OGD injury in vitro. Finally, back to in vivo experiment, it was found that pre-administration of SB203580 by intracerebroventricular injection dose-dependently reversed the down-regulation of GLT-1 expression and attenuated the delayed neuronal death normally induced by global brain ischemia in CA1 hippocampus in rats. Taken together, it can be concluded that the mechanism of GLT-1 mediating cerebral ischemic injury depends on the activation of p38 MAPK.

Drones have been applied to a wide range of security and surveillance applications recently. With drones, Internet of Things are extending to 3D space. An interesting question is: Can we conduct person identification (PID) in a drone view? Traditional PID technologies such as RFID and fingerprint/iris/face recognition have their limitations or require close contact to specific devices. Hence, these traditional technologies can not be easily deployed to drones due to dynamic change of view angle and height. In this work, we demonstrate how to retrieve IoT data from users’ wearables and correctly tag them on the human objects captured by a drone camera to identify and track ground human objects. First, we retrieve human objects from videos and conduct coordination transformation to handle the change of drone positions. Second, a fusion algorithm is applied to measure the correlation of video data and inertial data based on the extracted human motion features. Finally, we can couple human objects with their wearable IoT devices, achieving our goal of tagging wearable device data (such as personal profiles) on human objects in a drone view. Our experimental evaluation shows a recognition rate of 99.5% for varying walking paths, and 98.6% when the drone’s camera angle is within 37°. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first work integrating videos from drone cameras and IoT data from inertial sensors.

To investigate the expression of glycoprotein 130 (gp130) and interleukin 12 receptor β2 (IL-12Rβ2) in two subunits of interleukin-35 receptor (IL-35R), singal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT) 1 and STAT4 in oral lichen planus (OLP) tissues, and to explore the role and significance of IL-35R in the formation and development of OLP lesions.Totally 41 samples of OLP tissues (OLP group) and 15 samples of normal oral mucosa (control group) were collected. The expression levels of gp130, IL-12Rβ2, STAT1, STAT4 mRNA in the tissues were detected by real-time fluorescent quantitative polymerase chain reaction and the distribution and expression of protein gp130 and IL-12Rβ2 were detected by immunohistochemistry. The potential relationship between gp130 and IL-12Rβ2 and clinical features of OLP was analyzed.1) The expression levels of gp130, IL-12Rβ2, STAT1 and STAT4 mRNA in the OLP group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P0.05). 2) The positive expression rates of gp130 and IL-12Rβ2 protein in the OLP group were higher than those in the control group (P0.05). The expression of gp130 and IL-12Rβ2 proteins in OLP tissues were positively correlated (r=0.984, P0.001). 3) The expression rates of gp130 and IL-12Rβ2 protein in erosive OLP tissues were significantly higher than those in non-erosive ones (P0.05).The expression of IL-35R and STAT is up-regulated in OLP tissues, and the expression of IL-35R is related to the clinical classification of OLP, suggesting that IL-35R might play an important role in the formation and development of damage OLP lesions.目的 通过检测白细胞介素35受体（IL-35R）两亚基糖蛋白130（gp130）、白细胞介素12受体β2（IL-12Rβ2）及信号转导和转录激活因子（STAT）1、STAT4在口腔扁平苔藓（OLP）组织中的表达，探讨IL-35R在OLP病损形成和发展中的作用及意义。方法 收集41例OLP组织（OLP组）和15例正常口腔黏膜组织（对照组）为研究对象。采用实时荧光定量聚合酶链反应检测组织中gp130、IL-12Rβ2、STAT1、STAT4 mRNA的表达水平，免疫组织化学（IHC）检测组织中gp130、IL-12Rβ2蛋白的表达及分布，并分析gp130、IL-12Rβ2蛋白表达与OLP临床特征的关系。结果 1）OLP组gp130、IL-12Rβ2、STAT1、STAT4 mRNA的相对表达量均高于对照组（P0.05）。2）OLP组gp130、IL-12Rβ2蛋白的阳性表达率均高于对照组（P0.05），且gp130、IL-12Rβ2蛋白在OLP组织中的表达呈正相关（r=0.984，P0.001）。3）糜烂型OLP组织gp130、IL-12Rβ2蛋白的阳性表达率高于非糜烂型（P0.05）。结论 IL-35R及STAT在OLP组织中表达上调，且IL-35R的表达与OLP的临床分型有关，提示IL-35R可能在OLP病损形成及发展中起重要作用。.

Objective: We aimed to explore the expression and interplay of NO and iNOS to elucidate their roles in human maxillary sinus mucosa with maxillary sinus fungus ball (MSFB) and chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS).Methods: Fifty-one patients with MSFB, CRS and simple maxillary sinus cyst were included in this study. The NO content of the mucosa of each group was detected by Nitric acid reductase method. The expression of iNOS was tested by immunohistochemistry and Western blott. Spearman correlation analysis was used to analyze the correlation between the expression of iNOS and the occurrence of MSFB and CRS.Results: The results showed that NO and iNOS were highly expressed in the maxillary sinus mucosa of MSFB group, which were significantly different from CRS and control group (PConclusion: NO and iNOS are overexpressed in the maxillary sinus mucosa of MSFB and CRS patients, and the increase in the MSFB patients was better than the CRS. The expressions of NO, iNOS were also correlated with the incidence of MSFB. We thus provide a new indicator to assist the diagnosis of MSFB and its distinction from CRS.

This paper presents a robot for people identification and tracking developed on robot operating system (ROS). It achieves modulized, light-weight, low-cost, and high-performance design goals even with the existence of distributed sensors. The key idea is to utilize wearable devices to enhance the people tracking capability of a robot through instant wireless communications and multi-sensory data fusion. Experimental results in a realistic environment demonstrate that our robot can keep tracking a specific person at a safe distance even without seeing the biological features of the person, who walks in a crowd with complex trajectories.

Both cameras and IoT devices have their particular capabilities in tracking moving objects. Their correlations are, however, unclear. In this work, we consider using a drone to track ground objects. We demonstrate how to retrieve IoT data from devices, which are attached on human objects, and correctly tag them on the human objects captured by a drone view. This is the first work correlating IoT data and computer vision from a drone camera. Potential applications of this work include aerial surveillance, people tracking, and intelligent human-drone interaction.

Cancer stem cells (CSCs) play critical roles in cancer, making them important targets for new diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Since CSCs are heterogeneous and not abundant in tumors, and few specific markers for these cells currently exist, new methods to isolate and characterize them are required. To address this issue, we developed a new label-free methodology to isolate, enrich, and identify CSCs from an heterogeneous tumor cell subpopulation using a cell sorting method (sedimentation field flow fractionation, SdFFF) and a biosensor as a detector. Enrichment was optimized using an original protocol and U87-MG glioblastoma cells cultured in a normal (N) or defined (D) medium (± fetal bovine serum, FBS) under normoxic (N, pO2 = 20%) or hypoxic (H, pO2 < 2%) conditions to obtain four cell populations: NN, NH, DN, and DH. After elution of CSCs via SdFFF using the hyperlayer mode (inertial elution mode for micrometer-sized species), we isolated eight subpopulations with distinct CSC contents based on phenotypical and functional properties, ranging from NN F1 with a lower CSC content to DH F3 with a higher CSC content. Reflecting biological differences, the intrinsic intracellular dielectric permittivity increased from NN to DH conditions. The largest difference in electromagnetic signature was observed between NN F1 and DH F3, in which the CSC content was lowest and highest, respectively. The results demonstrate that microwave dielectric spectroscopy can be used to reliably and efficiently distinguish stem cell characteristics. This new instrumental and methodological approach is an important innovation that allows both enrichment and detection of CSCs, opening the door to novel diagnostic and therapeutic approaches.

Industry-induced fluorine emissions and high background values of fluorine in soil lead to serious fluorine pollution in some regions of China, posing a serious threat to ecological security and human health. Based on the production capacity of China's key industries contributing to fluorine emission, we estimated the fluorine emissions of key industries and built a fluorine emission list in China. Based on data integration and fusion, the soil fluorine background value, fluorine geochemical distribution and soil fluorine concentration distribution in China were analyzed. Then, the causes and control of fluorine pollution in typical areas were analyzed. The results showed that productions of steel, phosphorus fertilizers and electrolytic aluminum were the key industries for fluorine emissions in China. The highest fluorine emission was from the application of phosphorus fertilizers. Due to the huge area of P application, its contribution to soil fluorine concentration was negligible. Electrolytic aluminum production resulted in a high intensity of fluorine emission. A high amount of fluorine was discharged with steel industry production, with low emission intensity. In most parts of China, the soil fluorine background value is low and the environmental capacity is large. In some areas of China, however, fluorine pollution is serious, mainly due to industrial fluorine emissions and high background values of fluorine in soil. These regions should take corresponding prevention and control measures.工业生产排放和土壤氟高背景值导致我国部分地区氟污染严重,给生态安全和人类健康造成严重威胁.本文基于我国氟排放重点行业的生产产能,估算重点行业生产过程中氟排放量,构建我国重点行业氟排放清单,基于数据集成和融合,分析我国土壤氟背景值、氟地球化学分布和土壤氟浓度分布,并对氟污染典型区域氟污染成因及控制进行系统分析.分析发现,我国氟排放的重点行业有钢铁、磷肥和电解铝.磷肥施用的氟排放量最大,但施用面积大,浓度贡献小;电解铝行业的氟排放强度大;钢铁行业的氟排放总量大,但排放强度较小.我国大部分地区土壤氟背景值不高,环境容量大.但部分地区氟污染严重,主要是由工业氟排放和土壤氟高背景值造成,这些地区应采取相应的防控措施.

A method for in situ preparation of fluorescent AuNPs@AuNCs core/shell nanoparticles by the template of BSA coated gold nanoparticles was developed. The as-prepared AuNPs@AuNCs core/shell nanoparticles possessed advantages such as uniform size, improved monodispersity and excellent fluorescence. The AuNPs@AuNCs core/shell nanoparticles in powder and suspension form were applied to the detection of latent fingermark due to the above properties. The developed latent fingermarks by AuNPs@AuNCs core/shell powder on various surfaces can exhibit excellent ridge details with good contrast between the fingermarks and the substrate. Moreover, under alternative light sources, the latent fingermarks developed with AuNPs@AuNCs core/shell powder work well.

In this work, we report a colorimetric method for detection of ascorbic acid based on growth of silver nanoparticles by a simple and green photo-catalytic route. This route contains two steps, photo-synthesis of silver nanoclusters (NCs) with papain under UV irradiation, and catalytic growth of silver nanoparticles (NPs) in the presence of ascorbic acid. The produced silver NCs at the first step is excellent catalyzer that could quickly catalyze the growth of silver NPs by Ag+ and ascorbic acid in 1 min at room temperature. And thus, in the second step, the color of the mixture changed from colorless to yellow and a strong absorption band near 420 nm could be found in their absorption spectra owing to localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of produced silver NPs. We found that the absorbance changes at 420 nm have a good relationship with ascorbic acid concentration, and established a spectrophotometric method for the sensing of ascorbic acid in the range from 0.25 to 50.0 μM, with a limit of detection (LOD) as low as 79.2 nM. We also established a colorimetric assay of ascorbic acid by analyzing the yellow value (Y%) of the silver NPs photographs using cyan, magenta and yellow (CMY) color mode. The lowest detection concentration of ascorbic acid for colorimetric assay by the photographs could be estimated to ∼1 μM. Moreover, the method for ascorbic acid detection also has high selectivity. Potential interferes, such as glucose, dopamine, uric acid and cysteine will not affect the detection of ascorbic acid.

In this study, a total of 73 groups of paddy soil and rice samples were collected from 3 counties of Xiangtan City, Hunan Province, which were Xiangtan, Yuhu, and Xiangxiang, respectively. The total content of Cd in soil and rice samples was determined, the available Cd in soil samples also was measured, and the correlation analysis was conducted among them, respectively. According to the prior probability and data feature, we proposed to use the Bayesian method to eva-luate the risk of Cd content exceeding criterion in rice and construct the risk assessment model. The results indicated that, the average soil Cd content, soil available Cd content and the rice Cd content in the study area were (0.891±0.638) mg·kg于湖南省湘潭市下辖的湘潭、雨湖、湘乡3个县市区共采集稻田土壤和稻米样品73组,测定了土壤全Cd含量、土壤有效态Cd含量以及稻米Cd含量,分析了这3种Cd含量之间的相关性.在此基础上,根据先验概率与数据特征,提出了基于贝叶斯方法的稻米Cd超标风险评估方法,建立了风险评估模型.结果表明: 研究区土壤平均Cd含量、土壤有效态Cd含量及稻米Cd含量分别为(0.891±0.638)、(0.791±0.582)和(0.376±0.395) mg·kg

Soil environmental function regionalization is of significance for soil environmental classification management in China. In this paper, we discussed the broad and narrow concept of soil environmental function and its corresponding attributes. Based on the constraint analysis on the soil environmental quality to function, relationship between soil environmental function and quality was illustrated. Compared with different methods and indices of soil environmental function regionalization, we established the index system of soil environmental function regionalization according to the soil environmental suitability and function. The proposed draft of soil environmental function regionalization included four first-class function types, 10 second-class function types, and 75 soil environmental functional areas. According to the differences among those functional areas, we proposed corresponding management countermeasures. The results provided scientific basis for the control and prevention of soil pollution and the control of regional risk in China.针对我国土壤环境功能分类分区管理的重大需求,本文讨论了土壤环境功能的广义与狭义概念及其对应属性.基于土壤环境质量对功能的约束分析,阐明了其与土壤环境质量区划关系.在比较不同土壤环境功能区划方法与指标基础上,以土壤环境质量适宜性和土壤环境功能分类为依据,构建了土壤环境功能区划指标体系.提出了全国土壤环境功能区划方案,具体归纳了4个一级功能类型,10个二级功能类型,划分为75个土壤环境功能区.根据不同区域的功能分区现状,提出了相应的管理对策,为我国土壤污染防治规划与区域风险管控提供科学依据.

An aqueous dispersion was prepared by attaching positively charged gold nanoparticles to the surface of poly-sodium-p-styrenesulfonate-modified Fe3O4 nanoparticles. The Fe3O4@positively charged gold nanoparticles offer high monodispersion, stability against aggregation, and high magnetization with uniform size. The Fe3O4@positively charged gold nanoparticles were efficient and recyclable catalysts due to the formation of a positively charged gold layer on the surface of Fe3O4 nanoparticles and were stable in aqueous solution for over forty-eight hours and hence may have a broad range of applications.

Ferroelectric materials are known to be lossy at microwaves. A local microetching technique based on laser ablation is implemented here to reduce the insertion loss of highly tunable devices fabricated on KTa1-xNbxO3 (KTN) ferroelectric thin films. The relevance of this approach is studied in X-band by comparing numerically and experimentally the performance of a frequency-tunable coplanar waveguide stub resonator before and after KTN microetching. The experimental data demonstrate a large loss reduction (by a factor 3.3), while keeping a high-frequency tunability (47%) under a moderate biasing static electric field (80 kV/cm). This approach paves the way for the design of ferroelectric reconfigurable devices with attractive performance in X-band and even beyond.

In order to researching the microstructure of bioceramic coating on the surface medical titanium alloy (Ti–6Al–4V), the gradient bioceramic coatings are fabricated by wide-band laser cladding. The influence of multiple rare earths oxide La2O3 and CeO2 on microstructure of bioceramic coating were studied. The experimental results demonstrated that mixed La2O3 and CeO2 have an effect on forming-ability of HA\β-TCP in bioceramic coating and also refined the grain of bioceramic coatings. The largest amount of HA\β-TCP is presented among all the groups when the contents of La2O3 and CeO2 are 0.6wt.%, 0.4 wt.%, respectively.

Separating fluorite from quartz and calcite by forth flotation can be both in weak-acidized (pH 6.0) condition and weak alkali (pH 9.0) condition. The experiment results have shown that ZnSO4can decrease the depression that water glass works on the fluorite, and acidized water glass has a selective inhibition on the silicate minerals. The close flowsheet protocolled in the experiment can obtain the content of CaF2, SiO2in the final concentrate are 97.89%, 0.91% respectively, and the recovery rate of CaF2is 84.18%, which is reach the requirement of the plant.

The ultrafine graphite particles was prepared and sphericized by stirred mill. By the conditional tests, the influences of the main operation parameters, such as ball-to-powder weight ratio, grinding concentration, dispersant dosage, agitator speed on grinding efficiencies of stirred mill were studied systematically .The reasons of the influence was analyzed. The study results offered suitable operation parameters for practical production. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) was employed to investigate the structure of the ore sample. The result showed the sphericity of product was improved than the raw material.

To improve bioactivity of gradient bioceramic coating, the coating with two kinds of rare earth oxide was produced by wide band laser cladding technique. As the experimental results, whichadded0.6wt.% La2O3 fixedly, and increased the addition amount of the CeO2, when the addition of CeO2fulfill 0.4wt.%, the amount of HA-β-TCP is the largest in this experiment. Soaking the specimens in SBF for 14 days, the coating blended 0.6wt% La2O3 and 0.4wt% CeO2, then a great quantity of Ca-P white particles can be found on coating, which confirmation this bioceramic coating is of best bioactivity.

Monitoring of plasma methotrexate (MTX) concentrations allows for therapeutic adjustments in treating childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) or non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) with high-dose MTX (HDMTX). We tested the hypothesis that assessment of creatinine clearance (CrCl) and/or serum Cr may be a suitable means of monitoring plasma MTX concentrations. All children in the study had ALL or NHL, were in complete remission, and received HDMTX (3 or 5 g/m2)+leucovorin. Plasma MTX concentrations were measured at 24, 48, and 96 h. CrCl was determined at 24 and 48 h. Correlations between 24- and 48-h plasma MTX concentrations and CrCl and serum Cr concentrations were determined. CrCl and serum Cr concentrations were compared over time between children who had delayed and non-delayed MTX elimination. A total of 105 children were included. A functional composite of Fe3O4@SiO2-Au was prepared and used for latent fingerprint detection. Material characterization results confirmed the successful fabrication of the Fe3O4@SiO2-Au composite. In latent fingerprint detection, the Fe3O4@SiO2-Au composite provides a better performance than commercial copper powder and also gold nanoparticles. More importantly, the Fe3O4@SiO2-Au composite can be used in both powder and suspension forms, and also for common surfaces including glass, polyethylene bags, and paper. The favorable pH range (2.0–5.0) for the compositein finger marks detection is much wider than that of the traditional multi-metal deposition method (pH ranging from 2.0 to 3.0). The mechanism for the Fe3O4@SiO2-Au composite in fingerprint detection was explored and discussed. This study provides a favorable choice for a one-step deposition method for latent fingerprint detection.

To obtain high-entropy alloys (HEAS) coating with excellent properties on Q235 steel, a kind of HEAS powders was designed. The HEAS coating was prepared uniformly on Q235 steel by laser cladding. By means of OM, XRD and microhardness tester, the microstructure and properties of the high-entropy alloy layer were investigated. The experimental results indicate that the phases in the high-entropy alloy coating is mainly MoFeCrTiW with simple BCC, whose lattice parameter is a-3.1256Å. The microstructure in the coating is mainly cellular crystal, on which dispersion precipitates exist. And in the near bottom of the coating, there is few precipitates, in the middle part of coating, the precipitates are larger than that of bottom coating, while in near top of coating, dispersion precipitates become largest. The maximum microhardness value of coating reaches 800HV0.98.

To improve bonding strength between Ti alloy and bioceramic coating and to eliminate thermal stress during laser cladding, gradient bioceramic coating materials is designed. The bioceramic coating is fabricated by wide band laser cladding technique. And the effect of adding single and multiple rare earth oxide on microstructure is investigated. The samples are soaked with SBF for 14 days, the experimental results indicate that when the content of single rare earth oxide is 0.6wt.%Y2O3, a large number of bioactivity phase and chrysanthemum shape microstructure can be observed. When the content of single rare earth oxide is 0.2wt.%Sm2O3, a lot of bioactivity phase and coral reef shape microstructure can be observed. When the content of multiple rare earth oxide is 0.3wt.%Sm2O3 and 0.4wt.%Y2O3, a large amount of bioactivity phase and more homogeneous and dense spherical particles can be observed on coating, which demonstrates the microstructure is of better bioactivity.

And the gradient coating with different contents of multiple rare earth deoxide was produced by wide band laser cladding technique. The experimental results indicate that when addition of Sm2O3 is fixed to 0.3wt.%, as addition of Y2O3 increases, the microstructure of bioceramic is different. When addition of Y2O3 reaches 0.4wt.%, the amount of Ca-P based bioactive phases such as HA, α-TCP as well as β-TCP becomes biggest. After soaking the coating with 0.3wt.% Sm2O3 and 0.4wt.% Y2O3 in SBF for 14 days, a large amount of Ca-P white spherical particles can be observed on coating, which demonstrates the bioceramic coating is of best bioactivity.

The Fe3O4 -core and Ag- shell (Fe3O4@Ag nanoeggs) were prepared through the encapsulation of 3aminopropyltriethoxysilane-coated magnetite nanoparticle in nano-Ag shell by a simple chemically controlled procedure. The Fe3O4@Ag nanoeggs were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, UV-vis spectrum and superconducting quantum interference device magnetometer, respectively. A detailed analysis is provided of how the hydrolysis and condensation of 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane and the pH value are vital in fabricating the Fe3O4@Ag nanoeggs. The prepared Fe3O4@Ag nanoeggs possessed uniform size, improved monodispersity, stability against aggregation and high magnetization, which were utilized for the detection of latent fingerprints deposited onto different surfaces. The experimental results showed that the latent fingerprints developed with the Fe3O4@Ag nanoeggs powders exhibited excellent ridge details with minimal background staining.

Six silver colloids were prepared by the reduction of silver nitrate with different amounts of sodium citrate. The obtained silver colloids were characterised by UV–vis spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy and zeta potential measurements. The surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) activities of these silver colloids were investigated using crystal violet (CV) as a SERS probe. Based on density functional theory (DFT) calculations at the level of B3LYP, the Raman spectra and the optimised geometry of CV were analysed. The results show that the sodium citrate content strongly influences the sizes, zeta potentials and SERS activities of the silver colloids. As the sodium citrate content increases in the preparation of silver colloids, the mean diameters of the silver nanoparticles decrease. The most intense SERS of CV on the silver colloids is obtained when 3 mL of 1% sodium citrate is used. CV has D3 point group symmetry, and the Raman vibrational modes belong to A1 or E irreducible representations. The non-totally symmetric vibrational modes E are selectively enhanced in the SERS of CV through a Herzberg–Teller vibronic coupling mechanism, indicating a considerable charge transfer between CV and the silver nanoparticles.

To investigate the correlation between the lumbar bone marrow fat and abdominal fat.A total of 68 individuals (32 men and 36 women, aged 21-74 years with a median of 49.5 years) were included in this study. All the subjects underwent spectroscopic examination of the third lumber vertebra with the single voxel method on a 1.5T MR scanner to measure the fat fraction (FF%). Quantitative CT was also performed for measurement of the abdomen subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) and visceral adipose tissue (VAT). The measurements were compared between subjects aged ≥50 years and those below 50 years, respectively,in male or female subjects.In male subjects, BMI, FF%, VAT or SAT showed no significant differences between the two age groups (P0.05), and FF% was not correlated with BMI, VAT or SAT (r=0.109, 0.034, 0.066, respectively; P0.05). In the female subjects, BMI, FF%, VAT and SAT differed significantly between the two age groups (P0.05), and in ≥50 years group, FF% showed a positive correlation with VAT (r=0.499, P0.05) but was not correlated with SAT (r=0.221, P0.05); in50 years group, FF% was not correlated with VAT or SAT (r=0.076, -0.067, respectively; P0.05).FF% is positively correlated with VAT in female subjects aged beyond 50 years, but is not correlated with VAT or SAT in male subjects or in younger female subjects.

Myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are a group of clonal hematopioetic disorders characterized by myelodysplasia, decreased peripheral blood cells and high-risk of transformation into acute leukemia. MDS are often accompanied by a variety of chromosomal aberrations which play a role in disease pathogenesis, and are crucial in diagnosis and prognostic evaluation of this disease. About half of the patients with MDS have chromosomal abnormalities, mainly unbalanced chromosomal aberration. Different chromosomal aberration types are associated with different clinical outcome of this disease. Though balanced chromosomal translocations are not common in MDS, it seems that the patients with them have a higher leukemia transformation rate than those with other type of chromosomal aberrations. In this review, the chromosomal aberrations in MDS and their clinical significance for diagnosis and prognosis are briefly summarized.

Our previous study has proved that the up-regulation of glial glutamate transporter 1 (GLT-1) played an important role in the acquisition of brain ischemic tolerance after cerebral ischemic preconditioning (CIP) in rats. However, little is known about the mechanism involved in the up-regulation of GLT-1 in the process. The present study investigates whether p38 MAPK, ERK1/2, and/or JNK participates in the up-regulation of GLT-1 during the induction of brain ischemic tolerance by CIP. It was found that CIP significantly enhanced the expression of p-p38 MAPK without altering p-ERK1/2 and p-JNK expression in the CA1 hippocampus. Inhibition of p38 MAPK function by its selective inhibitor SB203580 or knockdown p38 MAPK expression by its antisense oligodeoxynucleotides (AS-ODNs) suppressed the induction of brain ischemic tolerance. Furthermore, p38 MAPK was activated earlier than the up-regulation of GLT-1 in the CA1 hippocampus after CIP. Meanwhile, the expression of p-p38 MAPK by astrocytes was increased, and p38 MAPK AS-ODNs dose-dependently inhibited the up-regulation of GLT-1 after CIP. Taken together, it could be concluded that p38 MAPK participates in the mediation of GLT-1 up-regulation during the induction of brain ischemic tolerance after CIP.

Carbon fiber powder (CFP) instead of the traditional glass fiber (cloth) was used to reinforce epoxy resin for rapid tooling. There are two obvious advantages: one is to utilize the waste materials, which is good for the protection of the environment; another is to simplify the producing process by cast molding. The filling amount and dispersing process of CFP was studied in this paper. The results show that when the amount of CFP was 10 wt%, and the ultrasonic time is more than 15 min, the CFP can be dispersed in the epoxy matrix uniformly, and the mechanical properties can meet the requirement of epoxy molding.

In the paper, ultrafine quartz, sericite and wollastonite modified with silane coupling agents KH-570 were incorporated into natural rubber(NR). The synergisitc effect on reinforcing NR caused by the three types of fillers was investigated under a same vulcanizing formulation and process. The mechanical properties and microstructure of the vulcanizates were conducted through mechanical testing and scanning electron microscopy(SEM). The results of mechanical properties tests showed that when one of these three fillers was loaded within NR alone, the tear strength and permanent set of NR vulcanizates filled with quartz could reach 27.61 kN m-1and 16.0%, respectively, stress at 300% elongation of NR vulcanizates filled with sericite could attain 4.69 MPa, and the tensile strength and elongation at break of NR vulcanizates filled with wollastonite could get to16.64 MPa and 951.21%, respectively. Under the condition that the filler loadings were 40 parts per hundred parts of rubber(phr), and the mass ratio of quartz, sericite, wollastonite was 1:1:3, the tensile strength and tear strength could come up to 17.33MPa and 27.54 kN m-1. The mechanical properties of NR composites filled with mixtures were found to be complemented by those three types of minerals. SEM results revealed that the fillers are well dispersed in the rubber matrix in the parallel arrangement with a densest stack, and the synergistic reinforcment effect of the fillers on NR was obvious.

To determine the correlation between quantitative results of contrast enhanced ultrasound and clinical and laboratory index for synovium of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).Thirty five RA patients participated in this study, with ten normal adults serving as controls. They were given a score of DAS28 and underwent laboratory tests, including erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) and C-reactive protein (CRP). Contrast-enhanced ultrasound examinations were performed to detect thickness of synovium (2D and Power Dopple).Peak intensity (PI) and area under the curve (AUC) were positively correlated with ESR, CRP and DAS28 score, respectively (P0. 01). The rest of ultrasound parameters had no significant correlations with ESR, CRP and DAS28 score (P0. 05). Synovium thickness identified by contrast enhanced ultrasound had significant correlations with ESR, CRP and DAS28 score (P0. 01).Synovium thickness determined by contrast enhanced ultrasound, PI and AUC can serve as an index estimating inflammatory activity of RA, and provide evidence for clinical diagnosis and treatment.
