AbstractThe project aimed to revolutionize home security by developing innovative, user-friendly, and highly secure smart security devices requiring minimal installation and robust data protection. Through meticulous research and critical design phases, the project successfully achieved its objectives, surpassing initial goals and setting new standards for home security.Objectives & Research Findings:The project aimed to address the critical needs of homeowners, tenants/renters, and property managers by focusing on damage-free installation, easy setup, remote monitoring, and encrypted data transmission. Analysis of burglary statistics emphasized the vulnerability of inadequate door-locking mechanisms, while exploration of sensor technologies identified viable options for detecting door status. Patent analysis provided insights into prior art and innovation trends, guiding design decisions and strategies for intellectual property protection.Critical Design Phase & Achievements:Detailed engineering analysis, testing protocols, risk assessment, and compliance considerations were conducted. Hardware components were carefully selected and tested for optimal performance, and housing units were designed for durability and practical installation. Non-invasive sensors facilitated risk-free installation, while battery-powered sensors ensured portability and longevity. Invasive sensor options were developed for permanent home installation, and user-friendly mobile/web applications provided real-time property security status with secure and encrypted data transmission.Future Recommendations & Conclusion:Future recommendations include extending battery life, enhancing data protection measures, implementing a notification system within the application, and ensuring compatibility with other smart home systems. The project demonstrates how innovative security solutions can evolve alongside technology to meet user needs effectively, setting new benchmarks for convenience, flexibility, and data protection in home security systems. Lessons learned will guide future improvements, ensuring continued innovation and user satisfaction.

ObjectiveProject 1 of the Preclinical Multicenter Epilepsy Bioinformatics Study for Antiepileptogenic Therapy (EpiBioS4Rx) consortium aims to identify preclinical biomarkers for antiepileptogenic therapies following traumatic brain injury (TBI). The international participating centers in Finland, Australia, and the United States have made a concerted effort to ensure protocol harmonization. Here, we evaluate the success of harmonization process by assessing the timing, coverage, and performance between the study sites.MethodWe collected data on animal housing conditions, lateral fluid-percussion injury model production, postoperative care, mortality, post-TBI physiological monitoring, timing of blood sampling and quality, MR imaging timing and protocols, and duration of video-electroencephalography (EEG) follow-up using common data elements. Learning effect in harmonization was assessed by comparing procedural accuracy between the early and late stages of the project.ResultsThe animal housing conditions were comparable between the study sites but the postoperative care procedures varied. Impact pressure, duration of apnea, righting reflex, and acute mortality differed between the study sites (p  0.05). Plasma quality was poor in 4% of the samples in UEF, 1% in Monash and 14% in UCLA. More than 97% of the final cohort were MR imaged at all timepoints in all study sites. The timing of imaging did not differ on D2 and D9 (p > 0.05), but varied at D30, 5 months, and ex vivo timepoints (p  0.05). A decrease in acute mortality and increase in plasma quality across time reflected a learning effect in the TBI production and blood sampling protocols.SignificanceOur study is the first demonstration of the feasibility of protocol harmonization for performing powered preclinical multi-center trials for biomarker and therapy discovery of post-traumatic epilepsy.

This paper investigated the impact of Co ions doping on the structure, magnetic properties, and magnetocaloric effect for La 0.8 Sr 0.2 Mn 1- x Co x O 3 ceramics (LSMCO) by sol-gel method and first-principles calculations The use of first-principles calculations was provided for subsequent experiments. The sol-gel preparation of LSMCO ceramics and sintered at 950 °C for 10 h. It was shown that the samples' cell volume and lattice constants changed slightly with increasing Co2+ doping but remained a rhombohedral structure (No.167, R-3c space group) by statistics of TEM and XRD. The average particle size for the LSMCO ceramics ranged from 130 nm to 170 nm. LSMCO's chemical composition was verified by EDS and XPS and it was demonstrated that Co2+ was successfully doped. The oxidation state of La was found to be +3, Mn is a mixture of Mn3+ and Mn4+ valence states, and Co is a mixture of Co3+ and Co2+ valence states using XPS. In the vicinity of Tc, all samples presented the second-order magnetic phase transition from ferromagnetic to paramagnetic resorting to normalization and the Banerjee criterion. The Tc dropped from 292 K to 237 K with increasing Co2+ doping. The blocking temperature and the saturation magnetization were suppressed by the Co2+ substitution while the maximum magnetic entropy change of the LSMCO ceramics was observed to reduce as Co2+ increased. When the external magnetic field is 5 T, the La 0.8 Sr 0.2 Mn 0.95 Co 0.05 O 3 ceramics has a Tc of 292 K and a maximum magnetic entropy change value of 3.47 J/(kg K). [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Wastewater pollution is a pressing environmental issue, necessitating effective remediation strategies to mitigate its impact. This study investigates the use of an efficient catalyst for degrading nitrophenols by converting them into useful aromatic amines, which are crucial building blocks for many pharma industries, and photodegradation of various dyes in their unitary solution as well as in mixture. The Cu-Co-Mn ferrite was synthesized using the sol-gel process and sintered at different temperatures. Structural analysis using XRD and Rietveld refinement revealed a crystal structure corresponding to the Fd 3 ‾ m space group having high purity in all the samples. Additionally, the impact of sintering temperature on the magnetic features of the phases were also studied and the findings suggest that all the phases exhibit ferromagnetic behaviour, which means they can be easily separated from reaction mixtures using an external magnetic field. It was also found that higher sintering temperatures lead to a rise in saturation magnetization and magnetic moment with decrease in coercivity (H c). Further, it was observed that Curie temperature (T c) increases with increase in sintering temperature with the exception of CFM400. The catalytic performance of all the catalysts, including CFM400, CFM500, CFM600, CFM800, and CFM1000, was evaluated and the results indicate that CFM400 exhibits the highest catalytic activity for nitrophenols reduction and photodegradation of dyes, which could be accredited to its larger BET surface area and lower PL intensity. Overall, the structural and magnetic features of the catalyst's sheds light on the underlying mechanisms governing their catalytic activity. These insights offer valuable guidance in the designing and development of effective catalysts for sustainable wastewater treatment practices, emphasizing the importance of considering both structural and magnetic features in catalyst design. Magnetic superabsorbents have been successfully synthesized through aqueous solution polymerization, employing sodium alginate as the backbone material, acrylic acid and acrylamide as the polymeric monomers, Fe3O4 nano-particles as the magnetic component, N,N'-methylenebisacrylamide as the crosslinking agent, and ammonium persulfate serving as the initiator. The micro-morphology and thermal stability of these superabsorbents were thoroughly characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), respectively. A comprehensive investigation was undertaken to examine the swelling capacity, water retention properties, magnetic responsiveness, and reusability of the magnetic superabsorbents. The findings reveal that these superabsorbents possess an impressive maximum water absorption capacity of 302.7 g/g in distilled water. Notably, their swelling ratios maintain high levels within a pH range of 5–10. Featuring a porous structure, the magnetic superabsorbents demonstrate rapid swelling kinetics, attaining swelling equilibrium within 30 min in a 1 wt% NaCl solution. Furthermore, the superabsorbents exhibit excellent magnetic responsiveness, characterized by a maximum saturation magnetization of 7.91 emu/g, allowing for swift separation under an external magnetic field. Lastly, the magnetic superabsorbents display outstanding reusability, with their water absorption capacity in distilled water still exceeding 90% of the initial swelling ratio after seven reuse cycles. Pure and Na-doped ZnO thin films were deposited by sol-gel dip coating method on glass substrates with (2–10) wt.% Na dopant concentrations. XRD confirmed the hexagonal wurtzite structure oriented along the (101) plane. The variation in average crystallite size was observed due to Na doping (2-10 wt%) in ZnO crystal ranges between 14.85 nm and 17.88 nm. The increase in surface area from 9.63 cm2/g to 14.1 cm2/g and porosity was in the range of 34.51 %–56.1 % was observed. Optical properties showed that the band gap decreased with an increase in Na doping concentrations in ZnO films. Magnetic properties of all the thin films showed ferromagnetic behavior at ambient temperature. The hopping process explained the dielectric properties that were predicted by the Maxwell-Wagner model and Koop's theory. Dielectric constant and tangent loss decreased while the AC conductivity increased with an increase in Na doping concentrations. The electrochemical properties of Na-doped ZnO-based electrode materials were evaluated by using the galvanostatic potentiometer. The specific capacitance was observed in the range between 794.01 Fg-1 to 867.18 Fg-1. The Na-doped ZnO photocatalyst can effectively break down the methylene blue dye, making it helpful in treating wastewater pollutants. Insignificant antibacterial activity was displayed as the amount of Na doping in the ZnO increased. These are used as environmental protection and antibacterial agents in biomedicine. For the first of its kind, Cr 3 + -substituted calcium hexaferrite (CaCrxFe 1 2 − x O 1 9 (x = 1 , 3, 5 and 7)) nanoparticles (NPs) were synthesized via a facile, economical, eco-friendly lemon juice extract mediated green solution combustion method. The samples were calcined followed by characterization. The Bragg reflections confirm the formation of a single phase M-type hexaferrite crystal structure. No other impurity or mixed phases are observed even after the substitution of Cr 3 + to the host matrix. Meanwhile, the crystallite size decreases from 29.44 to 19.92 nm with an increase in the substitution of Cr 3 + ions. The surface morphological analysis shows the presence of agglomerated irregularly shaped NPs. The direct energy band gap estimated using Wood and Tauc's relation depicts the decrease in energy band gap from 2.98 to 2.74 eV with an increase in the substitution of Cr 3 + ions. This study is based on the coupling of geological field data with geophysical studies in the geological mapping of the Central Domain of the Mbere Division (Adamawa-Cameroon). The first step was to calculate the residual grid associated with the geophysical data that will be used for the mapping of the basement. The second step before mapping consisted in calculating the analytical signal associated with the residual grid, used to interpret the geological formations under cover or in intrusion. Subsequently, a geological mapping approach based on the categorisation of geophysical signatures into ranges using the Encom Discover program was adopted. This approach is based on the analysis of the relief of geophysical anomalies. The process of categorisation which is done iteratively, takes into consideration in the same georeferenced space, the resolution of the input data, the variation of the field considered and the structural model previously interpreted. The result of the categorisation is then compared to the spatial distribution of outcrop data to build the geological model. The application of this approach to the Central Domain of the Mbere Division led to the production of a synthetic geological map at a scale of 1/75,000. The superposition of this map to the topographic model allows to observe a concordance between the Cretaceous basins represented by their edge faults and the topographic depression zones. The various mineral indicators (primary and secondary) collected during the fieldwork, combined with the geological model (1:75,000 scale) as well as the Cretaceous deposits and vein intrusion models were used to create the mineral indicators and targets map for this sector. Regional and nationwide geophysical merges consisting of magnetic and radiometric datasets have become standard practice within Australia and some parts of the world. The best practice for geophysical merges is to ensure the highest quality survey data is incorporated in all given areas. However, the traditional means of accomplishing this determination is quite qualitative without a well-defined methodology. Here, a quantitative algorithmic approach is provided, reducing user "guesswork" regarding which survey supersedes others when occupying the same space within geophysical merges. This is accomplished by assessing a wide range of survey specifications and applying weighted scores to their relative importance. This algorithm is applied to 889 datasets flown in New South Wales between 1957 and 2023 and provides a clear efficacy in determination of data quality based on survey design. Results from this algorithm have demonstrated proficiency in ranking surveys from highest to lowest quality and have formed the basis of all statewide geophysical merges in NSW since 2020. TiO2 photocatalyst has the advantages of high catalytic activity, suitable energy band potential, high chemical stability, high photoelectric conversion efficiency, high safety and non-toxicity, which exhibits excellent performances in photocatalytic degradation of organic wastewater. However, it is difficult to separate and recover TiO2 photocatalyst from the reactive system. Interestingly, magnetic TiO2 prepared by combining TiO2 with superparamagnetic ferromagnetic particles can overcome this shortcoming. In this review, the preparation method and the photocatalytic mechanism of magnetic TiO2 were summarized. Moreover, the catalytic mechanisms of the modified binary, ternary and multicomponent magnetic TiO2 composite photocatalysts were compared, and the effects of different magnetic substrates on the degradation activity were discussed. In the present study, SrTiO3 was selected to enhance the multiferroic characteristics of Bi0.88Sm0.12FeO3 (BSF) ceramics. With increasing SrTiO3 content, the principal phase of BSF ceramic transitions from rhombohedral R3c to Pna21. Through DSC and dielectric analysis, it was observed that both the Curie temperature and Néel temperature decreased proportionally with the augmentation of SrTiO3 content. When x =.1, the optimal ferroelectric performance is achieved, and the highest remanent polarization value is 55.47 µC/cm2, significantly surpassing that of BSF ceramics. Moreover, the PFM test results showed that as the substitution content increased, the domains in the BSF ceramic gradually transformed from normal ferroelectric domains to polar nanomicro‐domains. Magnetic and magnetoelectric results show that when x =.1, the best magnetic properties are obtained, Mr = 59.7 emu/mol. The magnetoelectric coefficient αME initially increased and then decreased with the increasing SrTiO3 content, reaching its optimum magnetoelectric properties at x =.1, where αME =.47 mV cm–1 Oe–1. The samples including Li 0.1 Co 0.8 Fe 2. 1 O 4 (LCFO) spinel ferrite (SF) and LCFO SF/graphene oxide (GO = 10 wt%, 15 wt%, and 20 wt%) nanocomposite were fabricated via the self-ignition route by following the bath ultra-sonication method. Their structural, morphological, and compositional properties were analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy, respectively. Moreover, the dielectric and magnetic properties at 300 K were studied using an impedance analyzer (IA) meter and vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), respectively. All LCFO SF and GO-based LCFO nanocomposites exhibited a pure spinel matrix. The crystallite size was increased by the GO addition in the LCFO SF sample. The morphological analysis showed the non-uniform distribution of particles. The dielectric constant and loss exhibited behaviour consistent with Maxwell-Wagner interfacial polarization. The low tangent loss was observed at high frequency and ac conductivity analysis was increased with increasing the GO content. A slight enhancement in saturation magnetization was observed at 300 K with the addition of GO in LCFO SF. Hence, doping with GO offers a means to tune the dielectric, and magnetic response of the LCFO SF sample and is the best candidate for potential high-frequency application. Water contamination currently threatens human health, which is still a major environmental issue. Scientists are paying attention, in particular, to lead poisoning of water caused by industrial wastes on a global scale. In order to reduce agricultural waste and promote sustainable development, this study created a straightforward process for using leftover rice husks to create biochar. At first, the rice husk biochar was prepared; then, following the immersion of biochar with precursors of Fe2+ and Fe3+ and precipitation under alkaline condition, the Fe3O4 was formed and laid onto biochar to create another magnetic adsorbent known as ferrous-modified biochar. The success of loading Fe3O4 was confirmed by SEM, XRD, FTIR, and BET measurements. The delivered ferrous-modified biochar has a high surface area and correct functional groups for the adsorption process. In order to remove Pb (II) from wastewater, rice husk biochar and ferrous-modified biochar materials were used. Under optimized conditions, synthesized ferrous-modified biochar has a lead adsorbent effectiveness of 95.0% that is related to varying pathways as co-precipitation reaction, complexation reaction, conjugation adsorption, ion exchange, and Fe–O coordination. The Pb2+ adsorption capacity of modified biochar is three times greater than rice husk biochar with 73.68 mg/g. Another evidence of the ferrous-modified biochar adsorbent's excellent recyclable properties is the remaining lead efficiency, which was over 41.2% even after six recycling cycles. Therefore, by this approach of synthesizing Fe3O4 loaded on biochar, the research provided new opportunities for developing low-cost and highly efficient adsorbent to remove heavy metals from water. The improper disposal of uranium mine tailings and smelting wastewater poses significant environmental hazards, including contamination of water bodies and soil, and potential health risks to humans through the accumulation of uranium in bones and organs. This study examines the removal of hexavalent uranium (U(VI)) from water using biochar derived from agricultural waste enhanced by hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and magnetization modifications involving the incorporation of Fe3O4 nanoparticles onto the biochar surface. The adsorption capacities were evaluated through batch experiments, and the mechanisms were analyzed using SEM, FT-IR, XPS, and BET surface analysis. These modifications were found to significantly increase the biochar's specific surface area from 17.606 m2/g to 195.62 m2/g and pore volume from 0.037 cm3/g to 0.132 cm3/g, and surface enrichment with oxygen-containing functional groups, particularly carboxyl groups. The inherent adsorption efficiency of biochar for U(VI) is significantly enhanced by these modifications, with the adsorption capacities of H2O2-modified (HBC) and magnetized HBC (MBC) reaching 69.50 mg/g and 77.58 mg/g, respectively. The adsorption mechanisms of BC, HBC, and MBC for U(VI) involve complexation reactions where hydroxyl and carboxyl groups, among other oxygen-containing functional groups on the biochar, interact with uranyl ions. HBC and MBC exhibit enhanced complexation due to higher carboxyl content, leading to improved U(VI) adsorption. Additionally, the presence of iron-containing functional groups on the surface of MBC contributes to electrostatic interactions and facilitates complexation reactions between Fe-O and uranyl ions, enhancing the overall adsorption process. These findings highlight the potential of modified biochar for the removal of U(VI) from water, particularly for the treatment of mine tailings and smelting wastewater, with significant implications for industrial applications in environmental remediation. Piezoelectric energy harvesting technology is a promising strategy for powering wireless sensor networks. However, piezoelectric energy harvesters (PEHs), especially linear PEHs, usually have narrow operating frequency bandwidth. In this study, in order to broaden frequency bandwidth, a nonlinear multi-stable magnetically induced PEH array (MPEHA) with asymmetric potential wells is proposed. Specifically, the proposed MPEHA is consisted of piezoelectric energy harvesting technique, multi-resonance array technique and magnetic force based nonlinear technique. Both theoretical and experimental studies are conducted to investigate the energy performance and to analyze the dynamic characteristics of MPEHA with snap-through motions among the multiple stable positions. As for theoretical study, a mathematic model of the potential function of the proposed harvester is established and the influence of magnetic force on the potential well configuration is quantitively investigated. As for experimental study, experiments including open-circuit voltage experiment and capacitance charging experiment are conducted using MPEHA with three-beam arrays. Our experimental study demonstrates that MPEHA has better performance than the traditional PEHA due to the magnetic coupling effect. Under excitation acceleration of 3 m s−2, the performance of bi-stable MPEHA is improved by 80.2%, compared with PEHA. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Core–shell fuel@oxidizer nanocomposite can combust in oxygen‐starved environment. A ferrimagnetic reactive particle, being successfully engineered, allows for manipulation using an external magnetic field and facilitates target heat or gas production. This research reports on interesting flame dynamics of newly synthesized core–shell Al@Fe3O4 nanoparticles under the influence of a magnetic field. Serving as an oxidizer and a functional ferrimagnetic component, iron oxide nanoparticles (IONPs) are grown in situ on nano‐sized Al (n‐Al) particles. Electron microscopic images demonstrate nearly monodispersed IONPs ≈7 nm decorating the surface of n‐Al. X‐ray diffractogram and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirm the formation of Fe3O4. Thermal analysis suggests the as‐prepared core–shell particles predominantly go through a solid‐state reaction mechanism that exhibits 30% lower activation energy compared to physically‐mixed nanocomposite (215.0 vs 310.8 kJ mol−1). The core/shell particles can be ignited and combust under laser irradiation with or without the effect of a magnetic field. When suspended in the middle of the tube by the magnetic field, an interesting combustion process is observed, highlighting a grow‐shrink‐grow flame resulted from the interactions between the combustion products and the external magnetic field, as well as backfiring at the bottom of the sample without major changes in burning rate and ignition delay. Bionic robots have great potential in healthcare, rescue, and surveillance. However, most soft actuators can only realize one or two deformation modes, which largely limit the application in complex environments. This study develops electric/Infrared (IR) light/magnetic multi‐field coupling soft actuators by combining liquid crystal elastomers (LCE), liquid metal (LM) and magnetic Ecoflex (Mecoflex). Originated from the synergistic effect of the differed thermal expansion and the liquid crystal phase transition, the actuator can realize outstanding large deformations (bending angle > 300°) at ultra‐low voltages (1.0 V). In addition, by designing the molecular orientation in the LCE layer and programming the magnetization in the Mecoflex layer, the bending or helical bending deformations can be controlled under electric/magnetic and IR light/magnetic coupling actuation. Based on the complex deformation capability, bionic climbing plants and two kinds of quadrupedal robots are developed. With the structural design of the quadrupedal robots, they can flexibly switch deformations to pass through complex environments by controlling the externally applied coupling fields, which demonstrates their broad potential in practical applications. We produced Er3+ ion substituted Co0.7Ni0.3ErxFe2−xO4 (CNE) ferrite series using the Sol-gel auto-combustion process. XRD confirms the Fd3m space group with cubic structure. Er3+ ions affect CNE ferrites' crystalline size. Er3+ ion concentration increases crystal size (15.11 nm to 21 nm). Further, we have used a scanning electron microscopy (SEM) instrument to understand the morphology of prepared ferrites. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy reveals presents minor Co2 bonds; no other bonds existed. The vibrating sample magneto (VSM) meter provides essential information on our prepared ferrite's magnetic properties. Replacement of Fe3+ ions by Er3+ ions at the octahedral location increases CNE series saturation magnetization. Er3+ ion substitution CNE systems had the greatest magnetic saturation and coercivity: 27.394 emu/g (x = 0.08) and 2074.74 Oe (x = 0.02). Using an LCR meter, we obtained the CNE sample's real and imaginary dielectric constants with a change in frequency at room temperature. Dipole relaxation lowers the dielectric constant with frequency. This dispersion mimics ferrite conduction. All ferrites have a nearly constant dielectric constant at a given frequency. Debye relaxation theory may enhance CNE series features and dispersion with Er3+ ion replacement. All CNE samples improve AC conductivity with frequency. Biomimetic and biohybrid micro/nano‐structures involve the replication and creation of technologies, structures, and materials based on biological systems at the micrometer and nanometer scale. These strategies harness the natural biological principles to develop innovative treatment methods and advanced microstructure devices for noninvasive therapies. In this study, a detailed overview of fabrication processes, magnetically assisted locomotive techniques, and potential applications of biomimetic and biohybrid micro/nano‐machines are presented. The latest advancements in magnetically actuated biomimetic structures, such as annelid‐worm‐like microswimmers, jellyfish‐shaped microparticles, fish‐shaped microswimmers, and walnut‐shaped micromotors are explored. Additionally, the magnetic biohybrid systems, including sunflower seed‐based micro‐perforators, nanomotors extracted from the bamboo stem, sperm cell‐based micromotors, bacteria‐based robots, scaffold‐based microrobots, DNA‐based micromotors, microalgae‐based microswimmers, and red blood cell‐based microswimmers are also examined. A thorough investigation of the magnetically assisted locomotive behavior of these microstructure devices in biological Newtonian fluids, featuring cork‐screw motion, undulatory motion, surface wrinkling motion, traveling wave‐like motion, and ciliary stroke motion is discussed. Furthermore, unprecedented and innovative treatment methods developed using these minuscule devices such as cervical cancer treatment using tetrapod hybrid sperm micromotors, tissue regeneration using silk fibroin protein‐based magnetic microscale scaffolds, and doxorubicin drug delivery using mushroom‐based microrobots is extensively presented. We develop a materials informatics workflow to build an interpretable surrogate model for micromagnetic simulations. Our goal is to predict the energy barrier of a moving isolated skyrmion in rare-earth-free Mn 4 N. Our approach integrates adaptive learning with post hoc model explanation and symbolic regression methods. We discuss an unexplored acquisition function (information condensing active learning) within the adaptive learning loop and compare it with the known standard deviation function for efficient navigation of the search space. Model-agnostic post hoc explanation techniques then uncover trends learned by the trained model, which we then leverage to constrain the expressions used for symbolic regression. Magnetotelluric (MT) sounding is a geophysical technique widely utilized in mineral resource surveys, where conductivity and magnetic permeability serve as essential physical parameters for forward modeling and inversion. However, the effects of conductive anisotropy and non-zero magnetic susceptibility are usually ignored. In this study, we present a three-dimensional (3D) MT modeling algorithm using Coulomb-gauged electromagnetic potentials, incorporating a mixed nodal and edge-based finite element method capable of simulating MT responses for conductive anisotropic and magnetic anomalies. Subsequently, the algorithm's accuracy was validated in two steps: first, it was compared with analytical solutions for a 1D magnetic model; then, a comparison was made with previously published numerical results for a 3D generalized conductive anisotropic model. The results of two tests show that the maximum relative error is below 0.5% for both models. Furthermore, representative models were computed to comprehensively analyze the responses of MT. The findings illustrate the relationship between anisotropic parameters and electric fields and emphasize the significance of considering the impact of magnetic susceptibility in magnetite-rich regions. In this study, La0.63Sr0.2Nd0.17MnO3 was synthesized by the sol-gel method, and its structural, morphological, magnetic, and magnetocaloric effects were investigated. The structural properties were analyzed by x-ray diffraction (XRD), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to characterize the morphology. An integrated magnetic measurement system was used to determine the magnetic properties. La0.63Sr0.2Nd0.17MnO3 crystallized in a hexagonal crystal system with space group R-3c. This was also confirmed by Rietveld refinement of the x-ray data from La0.63Sr0.2Nd0.17MnO3. With the doping of Nd3+, the cell volume decreases, which can be explained by the angles and bond lengths of the bonds between the Mn and O ions and the distortion of the lattice. Near the Curie temperature, La0.63Sr0.2Nd0.17MnO3 exhibits significant magnetocaloric effects. The magnetic study of La0.63Sr0.2Nd0.17MnO3 suggests that the transition from the paramagnetic to ferromagnetic phase can occur near the Curie temperature. The maximum magnetic entropy change and relative cooling power (RCP) of La0.63Sr0.2Nd0.17MnO3 (298 K, 3 T) are 2.70 J/(kg K) and 135 (J/kg), respectively. The effect of f-orbitals on the magnetic properties of La0.8Sr0.2MnO3 was investigated by first-principles calculations in density functional theory. Recently, we produced low cost SrFeO3-δ perovskite with antibacterial properties. In this study to improve the antibacterial properties of SrFeO3-δ perovskite, we doped it with silver. Ag+ nanoparticles on the surface of the Sr1-xAgxFeO3-δ perovskite samples were prepared by sol-gel method. Structural properties of these samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED), high-resolution TEM (HR-TEM), EDS elemental mapping and Fourier transform infrared spectrometer (FT-IR). These techniques confirmed the presence of small amount of cubic Ag spherical nanoparticles on the surface of the cubic Sr1-xAgxFeO3-δ perovskite structure. Further, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) for these samples revealed the presence of Ag1+ ions, oxygen vacancies and mixed valence states of Fe ions on the surface of the samples. The energy band gap of these samples was estimated using Kubelka–Munk equation and its value increased with increasing Ag up to x = 0.10. Additionally, Magnetic hysteresis (M − H) loops revealed that these samples displayed antiferromagnetic behavior with a small amount of ferromagnetic order. Finally, the antibacterial properties of these samples revealed that the antimicrobial activities were improved with increasing Ag (x = 0.10). Our results showed that Ag+ nanoparticles on the surface of the Sr1-xAgxFeO3-δ perovskite samples are a promising antimicrobial agent. LaSrCoO4, LaSrNiO4 and LaSrCuO4 were synthesised by the reverse micellar route by using three different microemulsion compositions. The as prepared nanostructures were characterised by powder X‐ray diffraction (PXRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X‐ray spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy. The PXRD of all samples indicate pure phases which crystallize into a tetragonal system. The particle size and shape of nanoparticles varies with microemulsion system. Magnetisation studies suggested that two of the LaSrCoO4 samples display canted antiferromagnetism while the others showed no sign of long‐range ordering. The LaSrNiO4 and LaSrCuO4 samples seemed to show spin glass behaviour. Some of these materials were successfully used as catalysts for organic transformations. The esterification of aldehydes in the presence of alkyl halides and alcohols has been made mild and practicable with a copper catalysed TBHP/DTBP promoting reaction. This approach is suitable to a wide variety of aldehydes, including those that are notoriously difficult to convert through the C(sp2)−H bond scission to produce the required esters in good to outstanding yield. Extrinsic dilute magnetic semiconductors achieve magnetic functionality through tailored interaction between a semiconducting matrix and a non‐magnetic dopant. The absence of intrinsic magnetic impurities makes this approach promising to investigate the newly emerging field of 2D dilute magnetic semiconductors. Here the first realization of an extrinsic 2D DMS in Pt‐doped WS2 is demonstrated. A bottom‐up synthesis approach yields a uniform and highly crystalline monolayer where platinum selectively occupies the tungsten sub‐lattice. The orbital overlap between W 4d and Pt 5d results in spin‐selective hybrid states that produce a strong valley‐Zeeman splitting. Combined experimental and theoretical results show that this interaction yields a sizable ferromagnetic response with a Curie temperature ≈375 K. These results open up a new route toward 2D magnetic properties through tailoring of atomic interactions for future applications in spintronics and magnetic nanoactuation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The multiferroics with remarkable magnetoelectric (ME) coupling and technological application have drawn significant attention. Here, we report a chemical doping tunable effect on the magnetic, ferroelectric, and dielectric properties in type-II multiferroic Gd 2 BaCuO 5. The magnetic measurement results show that a long-range antiferromagnetic ordering forms at the Néel temperature (T N1) of ∼12.1 K, and a second magnetization anomaly occurs at a lock-in transition temperature (T N2) of ∼6.4 K. Sharp peaks in the pyroelectric and dielectric curves are observed at the magnetic transition temperatures, indicating intrinsic coupling between magnetic and ferroelectric orderings. The doping of Zn2+ results in a gradual enhancement of magnetization due to the increase of uncompensated spins, and large magnetodielectric (MD) coupling parameter up to ∼7.65 % is obtained in Gd 2 BaCu 0.7 Zn 0.3 O 5 because of strong spin-phonon coupling. The ferroelectric property is weakened in Zn2+ doped samples, suggesting the critical role of the 4 f -3 d magnetic interactions in determining the ME coupling effect. Moreover, an effective manipulation of electric field on magnetization is observed in Gd 2 BaCuO 5. This work helps understand the importance of 4 f -3 d magnetic interactions in inducing ferroelectricity and explore the ME and MD coupling effects with multiple magnetic orderings. Magnetic magnetite-graphene oxide (Fe3O4-GO) was synthesized using an in-situ precipitation technique and applied in the adsorption of cationic rhodamine B (RhB) and anionic methyl orange (MO) dyes from aqueous solution. The nanocomposite was characterized by different techniques including FTIR, XRD, Raman, XPS, PPMS, BET, SEM and TEM techniques. Batch adsorption studies were conducted to investigate the effect of solution pH, initial metal ion concentration, adsorbent dosage and contact time. The synthesized Fe3O4-GO exhibited characteristic magnetic properties (saturation magnetization of 34 emu/g) and it separated from aqueous solution with ease through the application of an external magnetic field. The adsorption equilibrium time on the adsorption of RhB and MO onto Fe3O4-GO showed best removal of 99.12% for RhB after 60 min, while MO was removed efficiently after 120 min with a removal efficiency of 97.60%. The adsorption of the azo dyes followed the pseudo-second-order kinetics model with high correlation coefficients (0.99995) for RhB and (0.99925) for MO. Maximum removal of the dye pollutants by occurred at pH 8 for RhB and pH 4 for MO, while the optimal adsorbent dosage was 30 mg. The results showed that adsorption equilibrium data were fitted to Langmuir isotherm model and maximum monolayer adsorption capacities for RhB and MO at 70.64 and 15.94 mgg−1, respectively. The magnetic adsorbents were reused for a maximum of 7 cycles and showed reasonable stability and reproducibility. Echocardiography is recommended as a first-line diagnostic tool in patients with premature ventricular contractions (PVCs). However, standard echocardiography is not always able to identify early signs of myocardial dysfunction and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) may offer additional information. Since CMR has lower accessibility and higher cost compared to echocardiography, we wanted to evaluate how additional echocardiographic parameters, not included in routine examinations, perform compared to CMR in detecting signs of cardiomyopathy in PVC patients with normal findings at a standard echocardiogram. We compared CMR findings and results from an extended echocardiographic examination in thirty-nine patients who had a high PVC burden. The additional echocardiographic parameters were global longitudinal strain, mechanical dispersion, ventricular–arterial coupling, integrated backscatter and left atrial activation time. Eleven patients had pathological findings at CMR. The additional echocardiographic parameters did not significantly differ between patients with or without CMR findings. However, several patients with normal CMR findings showed signs of ventricular dysfunction when evaluated with the additional echocardiographic parameters, which suggests that these could possibly offer supplementary information in the assessment of PVC patients. We perform a joint analysis of gravity and magnetic data sets in the Tyrrhenian Sea region to infer the rock physical properties of several volcanic seamounts. We propose a moving‐window application using Poisson's theorem, which relates the total gradient of the magnetic field to the total gradient of the first‐order vertical derivative of the gravity field data. In volcanic environments, where strong intensity of remanent magnetization is expected, the total gradient of the magnetic field is particularly useful since it is almost independent on the direction of the total‐magnetization. The moving‐window approach resulted necessary due to the heterogeneous magnetization distribution of the volcanoes. First, we perform synthetic tests based on realistic seamount models which exhibit inhomogeneous magnetization intensity and orientation. Using the total gradients, we demonstrate that our approach can provide an appropriate magnetization‐to‐density ratio in different subareas of seamounts. The results of the correlation analysis for the Palinuro, Marsili, Vavilov, and Magnaghi seamounts provide interesting information on the variability of magnetization associated with different epochs of formation and demagnetization effects due to hydrothermal alteration processes. Plain Language Summary: We analyzed gravity and magnetic data sets to determine the rock properties of the main seamounts in Southern Tyrrhenian Sea. This study shows that the correlation analysis based on a window‐by‐window approach is an efficient tool for studying potential field anomalies in areas where inhomogeneous distribution of magnetization is expected. Effect of VI group elements (O, S, Se, Te) modification on the electronic properties of two-dimensional AlN were investigated by first-principles calculation method using density functional theory. The calculation results indicate that after O modification, the energy bands of the two-dimensional AlN system undergo splitting, thereby transforming into magnetic materials. After modification with S, Se and Te, the electron density of states curves of the two-dimensional AlN exhibit complete spin up and spin down symmetry, forming a non-magnetic structure. From the density of states graph, it can be seen that the density of states near the Fermi level is mainly contributed by the p-state electrons of the modified atom and the p-state electrons of the N atom. The bottom of the conduction band gradually moves towards the lower energy region, causing the absorption wavelength threshold of two-dimensional AlN to shift from the ultraviolet region to visible light. Therefore, the modified two-dimensional AlN improves its photocatalytic efficiency and has the potential to be used in the visible light responsive optoelectronic and spin electronic devices. Multifunctional thermal regulation materials with good thermal properties, efficient magnetic performance, and satisfactory interface bonding on fabrics are highly desirable for protective fabrics, building winter protection materials, medical thermal regulation materials, and special-environment work clothing. Herein, a new class of magnetic phase-change PW@CaCO3@Fe3O4 microcapsules was successfully produced by controlling the content of magnetic Fe3O4 through a self-assembly method. The microstructure, chemical composition, phase-change behavior, and magnetic properties of the products were sequentially characterized and analyzed. The findings revealed that the obtained microcapsules possessed regular spherical structure with uniform size and excellent thermal properties. Furthermore, PW@CaCO3 with Fe3O4 (i.e., 8% mass fraction) showed the highest thermal regulation and magnetic properties and reached an enthalpy value of 94.25 J·g−1, which is clearly superior to the value of 77.51 J·g−1 for PW@CaCO3 microcapsules. At the same time, the encapsulation efficiency of 38.7% and saturation magnetization of 2.50 emu·g−1 were the best among the four given samples. Therefore, the good paramagnetic feature had a significant synergistic effect on the thermal properties of the PW@CaCO3 microcapsules under study. More importantly, multifunctional fabrics loaded with PW@CaCO3@Fe3O4 microcapsules still showed an enthalpy value of 25.81 J·g−1 after several washes and have the potential to be used widely in the field of temperature control. The ever-growing need for advancement in data storage technology demands materials that can be controlled by as many degrees as possible. In this regard, multiferroic materials that show response both in electric and magnetic dimensions are of great interest especially when being investigated in two-dimensional materials that have their potential applications. In this study, we have incorporated Lanthanum (La) doped Bismuth Ferrite (BLFO), and La and Selenium (Se) co-doped BFO (BLFSO) with two-dimensional layered titanium carbide (Ti 3 C 2 T x) from the class of MXene as hybrid composites. The structural, optical and morphological investigation validated the successful etching of MXene from MAX, successful hybrid formation with conserved crystal structure and new phases of titanium dioxide (TiO 2) detected when the samples underwent heat treatment. This heat treatment was performed in order to enhance the multiferroic properties owing to the presence of TiO 2. Our results showed that the heated BLFSO-embedded Ti 3 C 2 T x hybrid composite showed maximum remnant polarization and higher dielectric response when measured with respect to the varying electric field and at different frequencies. The effects of noninvasive focused magnetothermal brain stimulation using magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) on post-stroke motor deficits and metabolic dormancy in subacute ischemic injury are not well-established. This study examined if magnetothermal brain stimulation using magnetic nanoparticles (Nano-MS) enhances motor recovery after stroke. We randomly distributed rats into Sham, Control, MNP injection only, and Nano-MS groups. We administered focused magnetic stimulation for 30 min daily following an MNP injection (15 mg/mL) into the targeted motor cortex via the carotid artery three weeks after the transient (90 min) middle cerebral artery occlusion. We assessed motor functionality via behavioral tests and conducted positron emission tomography (PET) imaging to verify cerebral metabolic activity. We assessed neuronal excitability, neuroinflammation, blood-brain barrier (BBB) integrity, and neurogenesis four weeks post-stroke. The Nano-MS group exhibited significantly improved motor deficits and cerebral metabolic activity compared to the Control and MNP groups (p < 0.05). Focused Nano-MS modulated neuronal excitability, evident by a depolarized action potential threshold for spike initiation and reduced firing frequency post-stroke. The Nano-MS group demonstrated markedly decreased inflammatory markers, such as IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, MCP-1, and ICAM-1, compared to the Control and MNP groups. BBB integrity and immunofluorescence for neurogenesis markers were substantially improved in the Nano-MS group. Focused Nano-MS facilitates the recovery of motor deficits and metabolic inactivity in the brain by effectively modulating excitability, reducing neuroinflammation, enhancing BBB stability, and promoting neurogenesis. Nano-MS is a potential novel, noninvasive therapy for stroke rehabilitation. The nanosized 45S5 bioactive glass (BG) containing iron (Fe) and bismuth (Bi) as magnetic photothermal agent (PTA) (B_F_FABG) was first time synthesized by bio-inspired route using folic acid (FA) template. Similarly, for comparative analysis, BGs doped with Fe2+/Fe3+ or Bi3+ separately (F_FABG and B_FABG) were also synthesized. XPS and FTIR analysis of B_F_FABG revealed the presence of FA and dopants Fe2+/Fe3+ and Bi3+ in the BG network. Based on the XRD pattern, B_F_FABG was semi-crystalline in nature, with an average crystallite size of 0.2 ± 0.04 nm. Fe2+/Fe3+ ions and FA molecules have a lower affinity for the BG network than the heaviest and most polarizable Bi3+ ions, according to TGA analysis. An increase of Q4 species in the B_F_FABG network was revealed by 29Si NMR investigation due to the presence of Fe2+/Fe3+ and Bi3+ ions. For B_F_FABG, there was also a rise in Q3 and Q2 species due to the dual dopants. B_F_FABG is nano-crystalline, with an average diameter of 12.8 ± 0.3 nm, according to HR-TEM and SAED pattern. The BG samples, both doped and undoped, were found to be mesoporous, with pore diameters ranging from 2 to 50 nm. Due to the presence of Bi3+ ions, B_F_FABG showed remarkable photoluminescence along with bone-bonding ability during excitation in the range of ~1092 nm. The magnetic characteristics were also induced in B_F_FABG due to Fe2+/Fe3+ doping. Purpose of Review: The radiologist's role is integral in the diagnosis and preoperative management of breast cancer patients. The pre-surgical localization of non-palpable breast masses has been achieved using wire-guided devices for decades. Despite being widely regarded as the gold standard for their proven effectiveness and cost-effectiveness, wire-guided localization (WGL) techniques have been associated with several drawbacks. These drawbacks include patient discomfort, the possibility of displacement prior to resection, and the requirement for placement on the same day as surgery. This review aims to outline non-wire localization (NWL) devices and techniques available as alternatives to WGL, including their benefits and limitations. Recent Findings: No significant differences have been found with surgical outcomes between WGL and NWL. Between 2013 and 2018, the use of WGL has decreased from 75 to 32%, and the use of radioactive seed localization has increased from 16 to 61%. Summary: A multidisciplinary approach that considers the patient, provider, and healthcare institution and current research on surgical outcomes must be utilized to determine the optimal course of action for preoperative localization of non-palpable breast masses. BACKGROUND: T2-weighted Single Shot Fast Spin Echo (SSFSE) scans at 3 Tesla (3T) are increasingly used to image fetal pathology due to their excellent tissue contrast resolution and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Temperature changes that may occur in response to radio frequency (RF) pulses used for these sequences at 3T have not been studied in human fetal brains. To evaluate the safety of T2-weighted SSFSE for fetal brains at 3T, magnetic resonance (MR) thermometry was used to measure relative temperature changes in a typical clinical fetal brain MR exam. METHODS: Relative temperature was estimated using sets of gradient recalled echo (GRE) images acquired before and after T2-weighted SSFSE images which lasted 27.47±8.19 minutes. Thirty-one fetuses with cardiac abnormalities, and 20 healthy controls were included in this study. Fetal brain temperature was estimated by proton resonance frequency (PRF) thermometry and compared to the estimated temperature in the gluteal muscle of the mother. Seven scans with excessive motion were excluded. Local outlier factor (LOF) was performed to remove 12 additional scans with spurious phase measurements due to motion degradation and potential field drift. Linear regression was performed to determine if temperature changes are dependent on the rate of energy deposition during the scan. RESULTS: For the 32 participants used in the analysis, 17 with cardiac abnormalities and 15 healthy controls, the average relative fetal temperate change was 0.19±0.73 ℃ higher than the mother, with no correlation between relative temperature change and the rate of images acquired during the scans (regression coefficient =-0.05, R-squared =0.05, P=0.22, F-statistic =1.60). The difference in the relative temperature changes between the fetal brain and mothers gluteal tissue in the healthy controls was on average 0.08 ℃ lower and found not to be statistically different (P=0.76) to the group with cardiac abnormalities. CONCLUSIONS: Our results indicate that the estimated relative temperature changes of the fetal brain compared to the mothers gluteal tissue from RF pulses during the course of the T2-weighted SSFSE fetal MR exam are minimal. The differences in acquired phase between these regions through the exam were found not to be statistically different. These findings support that fetal brain imaging at 3T is within FDA limits and safe.

This is an article in the field of materials science. Magnetic LSX molecular sieves were prepared by colloidal directing agent and Fe3O4. After silver ion exchange and hydrazine hydrate reduction, magnetic LSX molecular sieves containing silver atoms were prepared, the surface morphology, magnetic properties, phase structure, elemental composition and specific surface area of the samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, vibrating sample magnetometer, X-ray diffraction analyzer, photoelectron spectroscopy and specific surface adsorption instrument. The results showed that magnetic LSX molecular sieve is the composite material of LSX molecular sieve and Fe3O4. The micropore specific surface area was 679.38 m2/g. The optimum dosage of colloidal guide agent was 0.5%. The magnetic properties increased with the increase of Fe3O4 content. The specific surface area of magnetic LSX molecular sieve reduced after silver exchange with hydrazine hydrate.

Background and objectives: The effects of noninvasive focused magnetothermal brain stimulation using magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) on post-stroke motor deficits and metabolic dormancy in subacute ischemic injury are not well-established. This study examined if magnetothermal brain stimulation using magnetic nanoparticles (Nano-MS) enhances motor recovery after stroke. Methods: We randomly distributed rats into Sham, Control, MNP injection only, and Nano-MS groups. We administered focused magnetic stimulation for 30 min daily following an MNP injection (15 mg/mL) into the targeted motor cortex via the carotid artery three weeks after the transient (90 min) middle cerebral artery occlusion. We assessed motor functionality via behavioral tests and conducted positron emission tomography (PET) imaging to verify cerebral metabolic activity. We assessed neuronal excitability, neuroinflammation, blood-brain barrier (BBB) integrity, and neurogenesis four weeks post-stroke. (1−x)BiFeO3–(x)Pb(Fe2/3W1/3)O3 ceramics (x = 0.00–0.30) were synthesized by a solid-state reaction route. Structural characterization was done by X-ray diffraction and Raman spectroscopic studies. Existence of rhombohedral symmetry with the R 3 c space group up to x ≤ 0.20 and a transition to cubic symmetry with the P m 3 ¯ m space group for x > 0.25, confirmed with Rietveld refinement. Raman studies also confirm the significant modification at the A-site due to the replacement of Bi3+ atom by Pb2+ indicating the structural modification in Pb(Fe2/3W1/3)O3 (PFW) in BiFeO3 (BFO). Morphology and microstructure were observed using SEM micrographs and the average grain size was decreased with the increase in PFW concentration (x). Enhanced magnetic and ferroelectric properties were observed up to x ≤ 0.20, which can be attributed to the suppression of spin-canted structure and reduced leakage currents. In this research, a modified magnetic nanocomposite based on layered double hydroxide (Fe3O4/C/CoFe-LDH) was synthesized through co-precipitation and thermal processes. Modification of the magnetic nanoparticles was carried out by applying a carbon coating. After the surface modification of these nanoparticles, LDH was immobilized on the surface of Fe3O4/C. To synthesize CoFe-LDH, a co-precipitation process was performed using cobalt (II) nitrate and iron (III) nitrate. The synthesized nanocomposite was characterized by FT-IR, XRD, SEM, EDS, STA, TEM, VSM and BET. After identifying of Fe3O4/C/CoFe-LDH, its catalytic activity in the Hantzsch reaction was evaluated. The investigations exhibited that in the presence of the designed catalyst, the expected products can be produced with a high yield in a very short time. In addition, the recyclability and reusability of the prepared nanocomposite were evaluated. The results of these investigations show that after four cycles, the recycled catalyst still maintains its activity and only causes a slight decrease in the reaction efficiency. Echocardiography is recommended as a first-line diagnostic tool in patients with premature ventricular contractions (PVCs). However, standard echocardiography is not always able to identify early signs of myocardial dysfunction and cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) may offer additional information. Since CMR has lower accessibility and higher cost compared to echocardiography, we wanted to evaluate how additional echocardiographic parameters, not included in routine examinations, perform compared to CMR in detecting signs of cardiomyopathy in PVC patients with normal findings at a standard echocardiogram. We compared CMR findings and results from an extended echocardiographic examination in thirty-nine patients who had a high PVC burden. The additional echocardiographic parameters were global longitudinal strain, mechanical dispersion, ventricular–arterial coupling, integrated backscatter and left atrial activation time. Eleven patients had pathological findings at CMR. The additional echocardiographic parameters did not significantly differ between patients with or without CMR findings. However, several patients with normal CMR findings showed signs of ventricular dysfunction when evaluated with the additional echocardiographic parameters, which suggests that these could possibly offer supplementary information in the assessment of PVC patients.

The complexity of thermal analysis in practical systems has emerged as a subject of interest in various fields of science and engineering. Extended surfaces, commonly called fins, are crucial cooling and heating mechanisms in many applications, such as refrigerators and power plants. In this study, by using a deterministic approach, we discuss the thermal analysis of conduction, convection, and radiation in the presence of a magnetic force within an extended surface. The present study develops a deep neural network to analyze the mathematical model and to estimate the contributions of each dimensionless model parameter to the thermal dynamics of fins. The deep neural network used in this study makes use of a feedforward architecture in which the weights and biases are updated through backward propagation. The accuracy of the neural network model is validated using results obtained from a spectral-based linearization method. The efficiency rate of the extended surfaces is computed using the neural network and spectral methods. The results obtained demonstrate the accuracy of the neural network-based technique. The findings of this study in relation to the novel mathematical model reveal that utilizing materials with variable thermal conductivity enhances the efficiency rate of the extended surface.

Abstract The aim of this study is to compare the diagnostic performance of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) against computed tomography (CT) in various aspects of local staging in colon cancer patients. This study was a prospective single arm diagnostic accuracy study. All consecutive adult patients with confirmed colon cancer that met the current criteria for surgical resection were considered as eligible. Diagnostic performance assessment included T (T1/T2 vs T3/T4 and T3cd) and N (N positive) staging, serosa and retroperitoneal surgical margin (RSM) involvement and extramural vascular invasion (EMVI). Imaging was based on a 3 Tesla MRI system and the evaluation of all sequences (T1, T2 and diffusion-weighted imaging-DWI series) by two independent readers. CT scan was performed in a 128 row multidetector (MD) CT scanner (slice thickness: 1 mm) with intravenous contrast. Pathology report was considered as the gold standard for local staging. Sensitivity (SE), specificity (SP), and area under the curve (AUC) were calculated for both observers. Abstract In this research project, a versatile procedure has been designed for the preparation of supported copper@curcumin on magnetic graphene oxide nanoparticles (GO@Fe3O4@Cur–Cu). The structure of prepared nanocatalyst was characterized by several techniques including; Fourier transform infrared, powder X-ray diffraction, thermal gravimetric analysis, energy dispersive X-ray analysis, inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectroscopy, vibrating sample magnetometer, transmission electron microscopy, and scanning electron microscopy analyses. The catalytic properties of GO@Fe3O4@Cur–Cu were examined for the efficient synthesis of polyhydroquinolines as well as the preparation of sulfoxides through selective oxidation of sulfides in the presence of hydrogen peroxide.

Abstract The Central Eastern Desert and Red Sea region have emerged as a significant area of interest for geothermal energy exploration, owing to their unique geological characteristics and active tectonic activity. This research aims to enhance our understanding of the region's geothermal potential through a comprehensive analysis of gravity and magnetic data. By utilizing a 3D gravity inversion model, a detailed examination of subsurface structures and density variations was conducted. Similarly, a 3D magnetic inversion model was employed to investigate subsurface magnetic properties. Integration result from the Pygimli library ensured robustness and accuracy in the inversion results. Furthermore, a temperature model was developed using the WINTERC-G model and inversion techniques, shedding light on the thermal structure and potential anomalies in the study area. The analysis of the Bouguer gravity map, 3D gravity inversion model, and magnetic data inversion yielded significant findings. The Red Sea exhibited higher gravity values compared to the onshore Eastern Desert, attributed to the presence of a thinner and denser oceanic crust as opposed to the less dense continental crust in the Eastern Desert. The 3D gravity inversion model revealed distinct variations in density, particularly high-density zones near the surface of the Red Sea, indicating underlying geological structures and processes. Conversely, density gradually decreased with depth along the onshore line, potentially influenced by a higher concentration of crustal fractures. The magnetic data inversion technique provided additional insights, highlighting areas with demagnetized materials, indicative of elevated temperatures. These findings were consistent with the correlation between high-density areas and low magnetic susceptibility values, reinforcing the proposition of increased heat transfer from the Red Sea. Comparative analysis of temperature profiles further confirmed the presence of elevated temperatures in promising zones, emphasizing the geothermal potential associated with heat transfer from the Red Sea. This research contributes to the understanding of the geothermal resources in the Central Eastern Desert and Red Sea region. The results from gravity and magnetic data inversions, combined with temperature profiles, provide valuable information for future geothermal exploration and utilization efforts. The findings underscore the importance of geothermal energy in achieving sustainability and contribute to the global discourse on renewable energy sources.

Silicone rubber magnetorheological elastomers (SR-MREs) are increasingly recognized for their resilience in marine conditions, offering prolonged service life and durability. This study evaluates the one-month durability of silicone rubber magnetorheological elastomers (SR-MREs) under seawater conditions. Results revealed a 6% reduction in hardness and an 8% decrease in Young’s modulus compared to unimmersed samples. Morphological and attenuated total reflectance-Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) analyses supported these findings, revealing surface defects and chemical bonding changes. The immersed SR-MRE displayed a notable 250% increase in elongation at break, highlighting enhanced elasticity. Rheological properties revealed complex mechanical behavior, with an initial increase in storage modulus from 0.25 to 0.38 MPa in the presence of a magnetic field, followed by a gradual decrease to 0.15 MPa at 0 A and 0.52 Mpa at 5 A with strain. Additionally, this study proposes an illustrative mechanism to elucidate the relationship between seawater elements and SR-MRE behavior, enhancing our understanding of its mechanical properties and degradation in marine environments, thus highlighting SR-MRE’s potential as a durable material compared to traditional rubber composites.

The work presents a reflection on the importance of the existence of a massive photon. The discussion takes place based on the development of Maxwell's electrodynamics, introducing the massive term for the photon through Proca's electrodynamics. The presentation was based on theoretical development with the exposure of derivations by the divergent and rotational electromagnetic field, imposing the subsidiary condition with the terms of vector potentials. The work was intended to be simple, not going into details regarding applications and even Lagrangian terms, gauge transformations, and conservation of energy and momentum. The objective of this work is to discuss the possibility of the massive photon, through the derivation terms using divergent and rotational electromagnetic fields by extending the Proca model, presenting the dispersion relationship and consolidating with the Compton length and relating it to Planck's constant to understand the additional massive parameter of the theory. We made a comparison of some researchers in relation to experimental data, where they used an upper limit for the photon mass. We consolidate with a reflection on the study of the massive photon and its effects.
