The paper aims to reconstruct the I Mostra femminile italiana di fotografia, organized in December 1934 in Turin by the Società Pro Cultura Femminile (1911-). This event highlights the work of a group of amateur female photographers at the end of a course held by Mario Bellavista, one of the most active authors in contemporary Italian photographic culture. Set within a particularly fruitful context, the exhibition represents a pioneering space of aggregation, creative dialogue, and visual exploration, which catches the interest of some of the most important photographic magazines of the period, heavily influenced by male-dominated associations and models. At the same time, it provides food for thought for a broder reflection on some of the contradiction and mechanisms underlying the definition of gender roles in the history of Italian photography, that allocated women a largely unexplored and marginal space, which still needs deeper investigations.

MARIO (Multi-Regional Analysis of Regions through Input-Output) is a Python-based framework for building input-output models. It automates the parsing of well-known databases (e.g. EXIOBASE, EORA, Eurostat) and of customized tables. With respect to similar tools, like pymrio, it broadens the scope of application to supply-use tables and handles both monetary and physical units. Employing an intuitive Excel-based API, it facilitates advanced table manipulations and allows for modelling additional supply chains through a hybrid LCA approach. It provides built-in functions for footprinting and scenario analyses as well as for visualizations of model outcomes. Results are exportable into various formats, possibly supplemented by a metadata file tracking the full history of applied changes. In 2018, Nintendo announced a re-release of the game New Super Mario Bros. U. To make the title appealing to returning players, the company added series staple Toadette as a new playable character, alongside a never-before-seen power-up called the Super Crown. Once obtained, this item would transform Toadette into a facsimile version of the franchise's damsel in distress, Princess Peach. This functionality whipped the Internet into a frenzy and led to the creation of Bowsette, a fan character who imagines what would happen if series antagonist Bowser donned the crown and switched genders. As Bowsette ascended to superstardom, two aspects of her reception stood out: the frequent characterization of her as a transgender woman, and the fact that the Super Crown is the only feature carried over from the re-released game to Bowsette. This article holds that these two facts are connected, arguing that the queering of the Super Crown originated from the mechanical conceit of the power-up itself. Despite not being tied to any visible LGBTQ representation within the game, the item functions as a transgender video game mechanic, which allows it to reconfigure assumed-stable cisgender imagery by intimating non-normativity through experiential means. By picking up on and highlighting the Super Crown's ludic attributes in non-ludic mediums, Bowsette challenges representation's status as the dominant arbiter of gender in our modern world, inviting us to consider the possibilities unlocked by reconfiguring gender on mechanical as opposed to visual grounds. MARIO is a social robot developed with and for people living with dementia (PLWD) to promote social connectivity and reduce loneliness and isolation by providing access to a number of applications that PLWD can access, via speech and/or touchscreen commands. These applications include My Calendar, which reminds the PLWD about daily schedules and appointments; My Music which provides access to the PLWD's personalised music and My Memories which gives the PLWD the opportunity to reminiscence by showing them photographs of family, friends and/or significant life events. MARIO was developed, tested and evaluated with PLWD in a long stay residential setting over a 13-month period from September 2016 to October 2017. During the first 5 months of MARIO's introduction to PLWD, researchers maintained a reflective practice diary. The aims of the study were twofold: (1) To capture the experiences of researchers of being involved in this process and (2) To help identify strategies to enhance PLWD's engagement with the robot. These reflections were analysed in NVIVO 11.4 using thematic analysis guided by a qualitative descriptive methodology. The following themes emerged from the research: (1) Level of interest in having MARIO present in long-term residential care (LTC), (2) MARIO's appearance and functionalities, (3) Engaging with MARIO, (4) Researchers' Recommendations for Introducing Robots in Dementia Care and (5) Impact on researchers. From the researcher's recommendations for introducing robots in dementia care, a number of key strategies were identified which may facilitate the engagement of PLWD with social robots. These include the use of verbal and/or physical prompting by the robot, lack of distraction, and actively engaging staff members or family members when introducing the robot to PLWD. The experiment described in this paper is an early assessment to identify if the embodiment of a verbal and visual user interaction system in a robot is more effective in people with dementia than when using the same system in a simple laptop. La tradizione relativa alle battaglie tra l’esercito romano guidato da Mario e i Cimbri e i Teutoni è estremamente interesante dal punto di vista del legame tra divinità e guerra nel mondo romano. In particolare, la vulgata tramandata dagli antichi attesta una stretta connessione tra queste campagne belliche, la carriera di Mario e l’uso propagandistico dei culti operato dal generale in quella circostanza. Questo culto è stato promosso in chiave ellenistica, probabilmente per evocare la ideología pergamena della lotta contro il barbaro, particolarmente opportuna in previsione dello conflitto con il filobarbaro Mitridate.
