The aim of the experiment was to investigate the effect of VC and bacterial enzyme complex combined with glucose on serum biochemical indexes, immune and antioxidant function of cows with antibiotic poisoning. Twenty cows with antibiotic poisoning, weighing about (250.00±10.23) kg were randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group, with five replicates in each group and two cows in each replicate. The cows in the control group received an intravenous injection of glucose and VC, and the cows in the experimental group received an oral administration of glucose and bacterial enzyme complex for seven days. The results showed that compared with the control group, on the 8th day, the leukocytes, neutrophils, erythrocytes and hemoglobin of cows in the experimental group were significantly decreased ( P<0.05), and the platelets were significantly increased ( P<0.05). The activitiy of ALT and CK, and the concentrations of TBIL, Na, P and BUN in serum significantly decreased ( P<0.05), while the concentrations of ALB and Ca significantly increased ( P<0.05). The concentrations of IgM, IgG, IL-6, IFN-γ, SOD activity and T-AOC in the serum of the cows in the experimental group significantly increased ( P<0.05), while the concentrations of MDA significantly decreased ( P<0.05). On the 8th day of the experiment, there were no significant differences in blood routine, serum biochemistry, antioxidant indexes and immune between the experimental group and healthy cows ( P>0.05). The study indicates that glucose and bacteriase complex treatment can effectively improve the blood routine, serum biochemical, immunity and antioxidant function. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background: T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL) is a malignant hematological disease and is often accompanied by a variety of genetic abnormalities. Hence, our study aims to investigate the relationship between MMP-2 -1306C>T and MMP-9 -1562C>T polymorphisms and the risk and prognosis of T-ALL. Methods: From April 2009 to February 2011, a total of 376 T-ALL patients were chosen as the case group. Meanwhile, 352 healthy people who passed routine health examinations were selected as the control group. A polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) assay was used to detect the frequency of MMP-2 -1306C>T (rs243865) and MMP-9 -1562C>T (rs3918242) polymorphisms in the study subjects. The serum levels of MMP-2 and MMP-9 were detected using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). A Kaplan-Meier analysis was employed to analyze the event-free survival (EFS) rates of the T-All patients with different MMP-2 and MMP-9 genotypes. A multivariate COX model was applied to analyze the relationship between MMP-2 and MMP-9 polymorphisms and the prognosis of T-ALL patients. A C-statistic and net reclassification index (NRI) was carried out to evaluate the predictive value of MMP-2 and MMP-9 gene polymorphisms using the Cox model. Results: Compared to the control group, the genotypic frequency of MMP-2 -1306C>T (CT + TT) and MMP-9 -1562C>T (CT + TT) in the case group was significantly higher. The serum level of MMP-9 was markedly elevated in T-ALL patients with the CT + TT genotype compared to patients with the CC genotype. The results of the Kaplan-Meier analysis showed that the median EFS was lower in T-ALL patients with the CT + TT genotype of MMP-9 -1562C>T compared to patients with the CC genotype. The results of a multivariate analysis using the Cox proportional hazard model indicated that the MMP-9 -1562C>T polymorphism was associated with the prognosis of T-ALL patients. Conclusion: These results indicated that MMP-2 -1306C/T and MMP-9 -1562C/T polymorphisms might be associated with an increased risk of T-ALL. The MMP-9 -1562C>T polymorphism may also be related to the prognosis of T-ALL patients.

The carrier transport properties of the blends of the hole transport material poly(N-vinylcarbazole) (PVK) and the electron transport material tris (8-hydroxyquinolinolato) aluminum III (Alq3) are investigated at room temperature using steady-state and time-resolved transient photocurrent measurements as a function of doping concentration of Alq3. Due to lower LUMO and higher HOMO energy level of Alq3 than those of PVK, Alq3 molecules may act as carrier trap states in PVK films at low concentration. However, at high concentration of Alq3, phase separation reduces trap states to some extent, which leads to the rise of photocurrent. It is concluded that strong excitation transfer from PVK to Alq3 does harm to photocurrent, because strong fluorescence effect of Alq3 inhibits photogeneration of charge carriers. In time-resolved transient photocurrent measurements, it is found that the decay time is obviously shortened because the recombination rate increases and the electron mobility of Alq3 is higher than the hole mobility of PVK. In this paper, photoexcitation processes in the bilayer devices based on inorganic materials and poly(N-vinyl-carbazole) (PVK) were investigated. In order to clarify the roles of inorganic materials in photoconductive properties of bilayer devices, TiO2 and ZnS were chosen to combine with PVK. A model for generation of photocurrent (Iph) in single layer device of PVK was obtained. It is deduced that the recombination rate constant (Pcomb) and the ionization rate constant (γ) of excitons should be considered as the most important factors for (Iph). For inorganic materials (TiO2 or ZnS)/PVK bilayer devices, in reverse bias of -4 V, the photocurrent of 115 mA/cm2 in the TiO2/PVK device was observed, but the photocurrent in the ZnS/PVK device was only 10 mA/cm2 under the illumination light of 340 nm and the light intensity of 14.2 mW/cm2. The weaker photocurrent is attributed to the absorption of ZnS within UV region and the energy offset at the interface between PVK and ZnS, which impedes the transport of charge carriers. Background: Glucocorticoids are commonly co-administered with chemotherapy to prevent drug-induced allergic reactions, nausea, and vomiting, and have anti-tumor functions clinically; however, the distinct effects of GC on subtypes of tumor cells, especially in breast cancer cells, are still not well understood. In this study, we aimed to clarify the effect of GC on subtypes of T47D breast cancer cells by focusing on apoptosis, cell organization and migration, and underluing molecular mechanisms., Materials and Methods: The cell scratch test was performed to observe the cell migration rate in T47D cells treated with dexamethasone (Dex). Hoechst and MTT assays were conducted to detect cell survival and rhodamine-labeled phalloidin staining to observe cytoskeleton dynamics. Related factors in the AKT/mTOR pathway were determined by Western blotting., Results: Dex treatment could effectively inhibit T47D breast cancer cell migration with disruption of the cytoskeletal dynamic organization. Moreover, the effect of Dex on cell migration and cytoskeleton may be mediated by AKT/ mTOR/RhoA pathway. Although Dex inhibited T47D cell migration, it alone may not induce cell apoptosis in T47D cells., Conclusions: Dex in T47D human breast cancer cells could effectively inhibit cell migration by disrupting the cytoskeletal dynamic organization, which may be mediated by the AKT/mTOR/RhoA pathway. Our work suggests that glucocorticoid/Dex clinical use may prove helpful for the treatment of breast cancer metastasis.

A method, which makes use of difference of absorption in different stages of excitation process, is introduced to get more information about optical stimulated luminescence (OSL) properties of electron trapping materials (ETM). Absorption spectra of excited ETM contain all absorption of various traps (defects) together. So, the difference between absorption spectra before and after excitation (differential absorption) not only acts as the same as stimulation spectra, but also provides more information, such as holes stimulation, total volume of optical storage, etc. This method is helpful in studying OSL properties.

Photoconductive devices with organic (polyvinylcarbazole-PVK)/inorganic (zinc-sulfide--ZnS) thin-film heteropairing were fabricated. In external field, the excitation profile of the steady-state photoconductivity and the primary photoexcitation process of hybrid devices were presented and discussed. Comparison of photoconductivity of the devices and absorption spectra of PVK and ZnS implied that both layers absorption contributes to the photocurrent, but the effective part is at the interface of PVK and ZnS. The dependence of maximum photocurrent on the applied voltage and the dark and illuminated current spectra indicates the ultrafast charge transfer at the interface.
