Computer crimes can be solved using the usual investigative methods. The key is to know how to properly gather and preserve human evidence, physical evidence and software evidence that will lead to the identification and eventual arrest of the culprits. Gathering evidence involves taking photographs and examining the crime scene, securing the area and taking notice of unusual details. As for software attacks, it is important to print or copy the contents of the system while the program is still in memory and secure the object code and master source of the programs. Companies, however, must observe all the legal procedures when conducting investigations.
