The article presents a report from an August 16-22, 2014 conference of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions in Lyon, France. Topics of presentations delivered included the expansion of a database of electronic bibliographies, the UNIMARC cataloging system, and self-published books.

The IFLA World Library and Information Congress, 79th IFLA General Conference and Assembly, took place 17-23 August 2013 in Singapore. The article discusses the 78th International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) conference, in particular focusing on events of the Committee on Standards, held in Helsinki, Finland on August 11-17, 2012. Topics of the conference titled "Libraries now! Inspiring, Surprising, Empowering," included information technology, knowledge management, and indexing. The congress was attended by 4,100 library professionals from 114 nations.
