Abstract Background The ongoing global crisis of Higher Education (HE) institutions during the post-COVID-19 pandemic period has increased the likelihood of enduring psychological stressors for staff. This study aimed to identify factors associated with job insecurity, burnout, psychological distress and coping amongst staff working at HE institutions globally. Methods An anonymous cross-sectional study was conducted in 2023 with staff at HE institutions across 16 countries. Job insecurity was measured using the Job Insecurity Scale (JIS), burnout using the Perceived Burnout measure question, psychological distress using the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10), and coping using the Brief Resilient Coping Scale. Multivariable logistic regression with a stepwise variable selection method was used to identify associations. Results A total of 2,353 staff participated; the mean age (± SD) was 43(± 10) years and 61% were females. Most staff (85%) did not feel job insecurity, one-third (29%) perceived burnout in their jobs, more than two-thirds (73%) experienced moderate to very high levels of psychological distress, and more than half (58%) exhibited medium to high resilient coping. Perceived job insecurity was associated with staff working part-time [Adjusted Odds Ratio 1.53 (95% Confidence Intervals 1.15–2.02)], having an academic appointment [2.45 (1.78–3.27)], having multiple co-morbidities [1.86 (1.41–2.48)], perceived burnout [1.99 (1.54–2.56)] and moderate to very high level of psychological distress [1.68 (1.18–2.39)]. Perceived burnout was associated with being female [1.35 (1.12–1.63)], having multiple co-morbidities [1.53 (1.20–1.97)], perceived job insecurity [1.99 (1.55–2.57)], and moderate to very high levels of psychological distress [3.23 (2.42–4.30)]. Staff with multiple co-morbidities [1.46 (1.11–1.92)], mental health issues [2.73 (1.79–4.15)], perceived job insecurity [1.61 (1.13–2.30)], and perceived burnout [3.22 (2.41–4.31)] were associated with moderate to very high levels of psychological distress. Staff who perceived their mental health as good to excellent [3.36 (2.69–4.19)] were more likely to have medium to high resilient coping. Conclusions Factors identified in this study should be considered in reviewing and updating current support strategies for staff at HE institutions across all countries to reduce stress and burnout and improve wellbeing.

Al-Ṣirāṭ al-Mustaqīm (the Straight Path) is a central concept within the Islamic tradition. It is loosely understood as the path that leads to God, often being employed as a reference to the Qur’an, the Prophet Muḥammad, or Islam in general. Throughout the history of Islam, many scholars and schools of thought have attempted to define the nature of this Path while endeavouring to identify who its true followers are. With the diversity of views that exist concerning this concept, the primary aim of this entry is to consolidate prior discussions with a view to providing an overview of how the Islamic tradition has grappled with the concept and how it has impacted the practice of the Muslim community. The article divides the discussion into three key reflections: exegetical, theological, and mystical. In the exegetical section, the entry examines how various mufassirūn (Qur’an exegetes) have understood the concept. In the theological section, it similarly analyses how various Muslim theologians (mutakallimūn) have grappled with the same concept but under the rubric of al-firqa al-nājīya (the saved group). In the mystical section, the entry attends to the Sufi tradition, highlighting how several key mystics have addressed this question and how doing so influenced their practise of Islam. While the article is not exhaustive in its treatment of the subject, it attempts to be representative of the key voices that have engaged with the concept and ends with a brief overview of some more contemporary thinkers.

Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) is a popular Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) algorithm known for its ability to effectively analyze and process sequential data with long-term dependencies. Despite its popularity, the challenge of effectively initializing and optimizing RNN-LSTM models persists, often hindering their performance and accuracy. This study presents a systematic literature review (SLR) using an in-depth four-step approach based on the PRISMA methodology, incorporating peer-reviewed articles spanning 2018–2023. It aims to address how weight initialization and optimization techniques can bolster RNN-LSTM performance. This SLR offers a detailed overview across various applications and domains, and stands out by comprehensively analyzing modeling techniques, datasets, evaluation metrics, and programming languages associated with these networks. The findings of this SLR provide a roadmap for researchers and practitioners to enhance RNN-LSTM networks and achieve superior results.

Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) has gained significant adoption in diverse fields and applications, mainly due to its proficiency in resolving complicated decision-making problems in spaces with high-dimensional states and actions. Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (DDPG) is a well-known DRL algorithm that adopts an actor-critic approach, synthesizing the advantages of value-based and policy-based reinforcement learning methods. The aim of this study is to provide a thorough examination of the latest developments, patterns, obstacles, and potential opportunities related to DDPG. A systematic search was conducted using relevant academic databases (Scopus, Web of Science, and ScienceDirect) to identify 85 relevant studies published in the last five years (2018-2023). We provide a comprehensive overview of the key concepts and components of DDPG, including its formulation, implementation, and training. Then, we highlight the various applications and domains of DDPG, including Autonomous Driving, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, Resource Allocation, Communications and the Internet of Things, Robotics, and Finance. Additionally, we provide an in-depth comparison of DDPG with other DRL algorithms and traditional RL methods, highlighting its strengths and weaknesses. We believe that this review will be an essential resource for researchers, offering them valuable insights into the methods and techniques utilized in the field of DRL and DDPG.

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a prevalent and life-threatening malignancy, demanding early diagnosis and effective treatment for improved patient outcomes. Accurate segmentation of colon cancer in medical images is a challenging task due to the complexity of its morphology and limited annotated data availability. This paper presents an efficient approach for colon cancer segmentation and image synthesis, combining an Attention U-Net and Pix2Pix Generative Adversarial Network (Pix2Pix-GAN) guided by Sine Cosine Algorithm (SCA) for hyperparameter tuning within the GAN framework. The utilization of SCA plays a pivotal role in optimizing the delicate balance between generator and discriminator dynamics, resulting in enhanced convergence and stability. Our method achieved state-of-the-art results with a mean Dice score of 0.9514, mean Intersection over Union of 0.9123, F beta score of 0.9636, and similarity index of 0.9430 outperforming existing methods. Moreover, the Mean Absolute Error reached a minimal value of 0.01583. This proposed approach shows promise in enhancing the accuracy and robustness of colon cancer diagnosis and treatment which could lead to better diagnosis and treatment of colon cancer.

YOLO (You Only Look Once) is an extensively utilized object detection algorithm that has found applications in various medical object detection tasks. This has been accompanied by the emergence of numerous novel variants in recent years, such as YOLOv7 and YOLOv8. This study encompasses a systematic exploration of the PubMed database to identify peer-reviewed articles published between 2018 and 2023. The search procedure found 124 relevant studies that employed YOLO for diverse tasks including lesion detection, skin lesion classification, retinal abnormality identification, cardiac abnormality detection, brain tumor segmentation, and personal protective equipment detection. The findings demonstrated the effectiveness of YOLO in outperforming alternative existing methods for these tasks. However, the review also unveiled certain limitations, such as well-balanced and annotated datasets, and the high computational demands. To conclude, the review highlights the identified research gaps and proposes future directions for leveraging the potential of YOLO for medical object detection.

There is a growing body of literature on the Islamic theology and philosophy of salvation. This literature can be loosely grouped into three main groups: there are those that link the right path of salvation to a specific Muslim group, others that link it to believing in the Prophet Muhammad regardless of the theological group that a Muslim may follow, and there are those that link it to the belief in God and doing good. Despite this variety, what largely unites those various interpretations is that they all emphasize the “rightness” of one’s theological path, i.e., asking the question, what is the “right” track to God? However, what received scant attention so far is the question of “uprightness” as opposed to “rightness”, i.e., Is salvation primarily about being “right” (muḥiqq), or rather about being “upright” (ṣādiq/mukhliṣ)? Drawing on Q. 5:116-119, which presents a conflict between “rightness” and “uprightness” embodied in Jesus’ conversation with God regarding the fate of those who did not have the right theology, and taking its cues from Abū Ḥāmid al-Ghazālī (d. 1111) who attempted to rejuvenate Islamic theology through spirituality, this article takes “uprightness” as the primary requisite for one to attain salvation and argues that the Quran, despite the emphasis it places on pursuing the “right” path, gives primacy to the “uprightness” of one’s position instead. Uprightness in the article is used in reference to the quality of being honest, responsible, and moral, as opposed to being merely “right” or “correct” theologically.

Over the past few years, multiple studies have shed light on the novel autoimmune inflammatory condition termed IgG4-related disorder (IgG4-RD). It predominantly affects middle-aged and older men, has an insidious presentation, and can affect multiple organs in the body. The presentation of this disease is highly variable, and many of its clinical manifestations have been described as “idiopathic”. The exact pathogenesis of this disease is not fully understood; however, it is important to consider this diagnosis when encountering patients, as initiating management early in the course of the disease can prevent it from progressing to a late, irreversible stage.In this report, we present a case of a 70-year-old male who presented with a history of left aural fullness, vertigo pulsatile tinnitus, and progressive hearing loss. Radiological investigations revealed a soft tissue lesion in the middle ear cleft. The patient underwent exploration of the middle ear under general anesthesia; intraoperatively, a friable hemorrhagic lesion encapsulating the facial nerve and eroding the ossicles, the tegmen, and the labyrinth was found, and a complete excision was achieved. Histopathological evaluation of the lesion suggested a probable diagnosis of IgG4-RD.Early recognition of IgG4-RD is essential to provide the optimum patient care and prevent further progression of the disease. This report discusses an atypical presentation of IgG4-RD of the left temporal bone.

Abstract Background Ritonavir was recently combined with nirmatrelvir in a new approved co-packaged medication form for the treatment of COVID-19. Quantitative analysis based on fluorescence spectroscopy measurement was extensively used for sensitive determination of compounds exhibited unique fluorescence features. Objective The main objective of this work was to develop higher sensitive cost effective spectrofluorometric method for selective determination of ritonavir in the presence of nirmatrelvir in pure form, pharmaceutical tablet as well as in spiked human plasma. Methods Ritonavir was found to exhibit unique native emission fluorescence at 404 nm when excited at 326 nm. On the other hand, nirmatrelvir had no emission bands when excited at 326 nm. This feature allowed selective determination of ritonavir without any interference from nirmatrelvir. The variables affecting fluorescence intensity of ritonavir were optimized in terms of sensitivity parameters and principles of green analytical chemistry. Ethanol was used a green solvent which provided efficient fluorescence intensity of the cited drug. Results The method was validated in accordance with the ICH Q2 (R1) standards in terms of linearity, limit of detection (LOD), limit of quantification (LOQ), accuracy, precision and specificity. The described method was successfully applied for ritonavir assay over the concentration range of 2.0–20.0 ng/mL. Conclusion Ritonavir determination in the spiked human plasma was successfully done with satisfactory accepted results.

A cost-effective, selective, sensitive, and operational TLC-densitometric approach has been adapted for the concurrent assay of Hydroxyzine Hydrochloride (HYX), Ephedrine Hydrochloride (EPH), and Theophylline (THP) in their pure powder and pharmaceutical forms. In the innovative TLC-densitometric approach, HYX, EPH, and THP were efficaciously separated and quantified on a 60F254 silica gel stationary phase with chloroform–ammonium acetate buffer (9.5:0.5, v/v) adjusted to pH 6.5 using ammonia solution as a mobile liquid system and UV detection at 220 nm. The novel TLC method validation has been performed in line with the international conference for harmonization (ICH) standards and has been effectively used for the estimation of the researched medicines in their pharmaceutical formulations without intervention from excipients. Additionally, parameters affecting the chromatographic analysis have been investigated. The new TLC approach’s functionality and greenness were appraised using three modern and automated tools, namely the Blue Applicability Grade Index (BAGI), the Analytical Greenness metric (AGREE), and the Green Analytical Procedure Index (GAPI) tools. In short, the greenness characteristics were not achieved as a result of using mandatory, non-ecofriendly solvents such as ammonia and chloroform. On the contrary, the applicability and usefulness of the novel TLC approach were attained via concurrent estimation for the three drugs using simple and straightforward procedures. Moreover, the novel TLC method outperforms previously published HPLC ones in terms of the short run time per sample and moderate pH value for the liquid system. According to the conclusions of comparisons with previously recorded TLC methods, our novel HPTLC method has the highest AGREE score, so it is the greenest HPTLC strategy. Moreover, its functionality and applicability are very appropriate because of the simultaneous assessment of three drugs in one TLC run. Furthermore, no tedious and complicated extraction and evaporation processes are prerequisites.

Abstract The environmentally friendly design of analytical methods is gaining interest in pharmaceutical analysis to reduce hazardous environmental impacts and improve safety and health conditions for analysts. The adaptation and integration of chemometrics in the development of environmentally friendly analytical methods is strongly recommended in the hope of promising benefits. Favipiravir and remdesivir have been included in the COVID-19 treatment guidelines panel of several countries. The main objective of this work is to develop green, tuned spectrophotometric methods based on chemometric based models for the determination of favipiravir and remdesivir in spiked human plasma. The UV absorption spectra of favipiravir and remdesivir has shown overlap to some extent, making simultaneous determination difficult. Three advanced chemometric models, classical least squares, principal component regression, and partial least squares, have been developed to provide resolution and spectrophotometric determination of the drugs under study. A five-level, two-factor experimental design has been used to create the described models. The spectrally recorded data of favipiravir and remdesivir has been reviewed. The noise region has been neglected as it has a negative impact on the significant data. On the other hand, the other spectral data provided relevant information about the investigated drugs. A comprehensive evaluation and interpretation of the results of the described models and a statistical comparison with accepted values have been considered. The proposed models have been successfully applied to the spectrophotometric determination of favipiravir and remdesivir in pharmaceutical form spiked human plasma. In addition, the environmental friendliness of the described models was evaluated using the analytical eco-scale, the green analytical procedure index and the AGREE evaluation method. The results showed the compliance of the described models with the environmental characteristics.

Abstract A computationally-assisted and green spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of fostemsavir, a recently FDA-approved drug used in combination with antiretroviral drugs to treat multidrug-resistant HIV-1 infection. The method was developed using computational studies and solvent selection based on green chemistry principles. The density functional theory method was employed to identify bromophenol blue as the preferred acid dye for efficient extraction of fostemsavir. The solvent selection process involved a careful evaluation of the green ranking of solvents, which led to the use of water as the solvent. The method involved the extraction of fostemsavir with bromophenol blue to form a yellow ion-pair complex, which exhibited maximally sharp peaks at 418 nm, enabling sensitive visible spectrophotometric determination of fostemsavir in bulk and pharmaceutical preparations. The extraction procedures were optimized, and the method was demonstrated to be sensitive over the concentration range of 2–12 μg/mL fostemsavir. Furthermore, the method was evaluated with respect to green chemistry principles using the analytical eco-scale, the green analytical method index, and analytical greenness metric approach, all of which confirmed that the data obtained by the proposed method were environmentally acceptable.

Abstract Favipiravir and remdesivir have been included in the COVID-19 treatment guidelines panel of several countries. The main objective of the current work is to develop the first validated green spectrophotometric methods for the determination of favipiravir and remdesivir in spiked human plasma. The UV absorption spectra of favipiravir and remdesivir have shown some overlap, making simultaneous determination difficult. Due to the considerable overlap, two ratio spectra manipulating spectrophotometric methods, namely, ratio difference and the first derivative of ratio spectra, enabled the determination of favipiravir and remdesivir in their pure forms and spiked plasma. The ratio spectra of favipiravir and remdesivir were derived by dividing the spectra of each drug by the suitable spectrum of another drug as a divisor to get the ratio spectra. Favipiravir was determined by calculating the difference between 222 and 256 nm of the derived ratio spectra, while calculating the difference between 247 and 271 nm of the derived ratio spectra enabled the determination of remdesivir. Moreover, the ratio spectra of every drug were transformed to the first order derivative using ∆λ = 4 and a scaling factor of 100. The first-order derivative amplitude values at 228 and 251.20 nm enabled the determination of favipiravir and remdesivir, respectively. Regarding the pharmacokinetic profile of favipiravir (Cmax 4.43 µg/mL) and remdesivir (Cmax 3027 ng/mL), the proposed methods have been successfully applied to the spectrophotometric determination of favipiravir and remdesivir in plasma matrix. Additionally, the greenness of the described methods was evaluated using three metrics systems: the national environmental method index, the analytical eco-scale, and the analytical greenness metric. The results demonstrated that the described models were in accordance with the environmental characteristics.

Poly (vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) nanofibers have been applied in producing piezoelectric membranes for energy harvesting in wearable devices under strenuous service conditions due to its outstanding properties such as piezoelectricity, flexibility, stability, and biocompatibility. Therefore, a processing technique with mass production capability and generating the highest possible piezoelectric properties of PVDF nanofibers is required. To achieve such requirements, this study presented a novel flexible piezoelectric membrane based on PVDF/TPU nanofibers using solution blow spinning (SBS). The addition of TPU into PVDF has been proven to increase the flexibility of the polymeric membranes. The produced membranes showed high piezoelectric response and sensitivity compared to other PVDF-based membranes in the literature especially at 5wt.% TPU concentration, owing to its small nanofiber diameter, high β fraction, and inducing reorientation of electric dipoles. The addition of TPU also significantly enhanced tensile strength and elasticity of the produced membranes. Based on those, this work has shown a promising method to produce high elastic-piezoelectric nanofibrous membrane using SBS.

The aim of the present research was to develop a magnetic coconut carbon composite (Fe2O3/Fe3O4@CNC) as a solid-phase extraction (SPE) sorbent for the analysis of carcinogenic N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) in pharmaceuticals. Coconut composites modified with Fe2O3 and Fe3O4 were prepared and applied as SPE sorbent for the extraction of NDMA in pharmaceuticals. The sorbent was characterized with X-Ray, infrared spectroscopy and nitrogen porosimetry. The best ions for the Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry with Selected Ion Monitoring (GC-MS/SIM) analysis were m/z 74 and 42 for NDMA, and m/z 80 and 46 for NDMA-d6 internal standard. System has offered great method performance in terms of sensitivity limit of quantitation (LOQ) 16 ng kg−1. The developed sorbent has enhanced the sensitivity and speed of analysis. The developed method was applied to authenticate the presence of NDMA in various pharmaceutical samples. Among the analyzed samples, NDMA impurities were relatively identified at high amounts in nizatidine samples.Highlights NDMA was verified in ranitidine, metformin and nizatidineFe2O3/Fe3O4@CNC composite was used for NDMA identification without pretreatmentSPE sorbent enhance sensitivity, reduce analysis time, sustain accuracy & precisionHigh level of NDMA impurity were found in nizatidine pharmaceuticals.

Abstract Quantitative analysis of pharmaceutical compounds up to Nano gram levels is highly recommended to introduce feasible and sensitive tool for determination of the compounds in the pharmaceutical and biological samples. Nirmatrelvir plus ritonavir was recently approved in the US, the UK and Europe as a new co-packaged dosage form for the treatment of COVID-19. The objective of this work was to develop a more sensitive TLC method based on using β-cyclodextrin as a chiral selector additive in the mobile phase for simultaneous determination of nirmatrelvir and ritonavir in pure form, pharmaceutical formulation and spiked human plasma. The analysis procedures were developed using TLC aluminum silica gel plates and methanol–water- 2% urea solution of β-cyclodextrin (40:10:.5, by volume) as a mobile phase with UV detection at 215 nm. The developed method was successfully applied over a linearity range of 10–50 ng/band for both nirmatrelvir and ritonavir. The method was validated for limits of detection and quantitation, accuracy, precision, specificity, system suitability, and robustness. Furthermore, the eco-friendliness of the proposed method was assessed using the analytical eco-scale and the green analytical procedure index. The described method exhibited compliance with green analytical chemistry principles based on common green metric values.

The Second Vatican Council and the Common Word document constitute turning points in the history of Christian–Muslim Relations. Nostra Aetate and Lumen Gentium appealed to a shared Abrahamic heritage between Christianity and Islam, and the Common Word appealed to a God-based theology, as opposed to the long-standing Prophet-based theology. Authorities in both traditions did so in the search for a shared theological foundation. While the article recognizes the vitality of the two steps, it equally recognizes that there is still much that can be done to advance Christian–Muslim relations. In this context, this article aims to achieve three primary goals: first, to demonstrate the successes of the two initiatives; second, to critically engage with them by examining their limitations; and third, to suggest “practical theology” as a medium through which the aspirations of Vatican II and the Common Word can reach a greater audience. In doing so, it proposes the concept of shahādah “bearing witness”, as opposed to the Islamic concept of daʿwah “making invitation” and the Christian concepts of preaching and messianism.

Deep Reinforcement Learning (DRL) allows agents to make decisions in a specific environment based on a reward function, without prior knowledge. Adapting hyperparameters significantly impacts the learning process and time. Precise estimation of hyperparameters during DRL training poses a major challenge. To tackle this problem, this study utilizes Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO), a metaheuristic algorithm, to optimize the hyperparameters of the Deep Deterministic Policy Gradient (DDPG) algorithm for achieving optimal control strategy in two simulated Gymnasium environments provided by OpenAI. The ability to adapt hyperparameters accurately contributes to faster convergence and enhanced learning, ultimately leading to more efficient control strategies. The proposed DDPG-GWO algorithm is evaluated in the 2DRobot and MountainCarContinuous simulation environments, chosen for their ease of implementation. Our experimental results reveal that optimizing the hyperparameters of the DDPG using the GWO algorithm in the Gymnasium environments maximizes the total rewards during testing episodes while ensuring the stability of the learning policy. This is evident in comparing our proposed DDPG-GWO agent with optimized hyperparameters and the original DDPG. In the 2DRobot environment, the original DDPG had rewards ranging from −150 to −50, whereas, in the proposed DDPG-GWO, they ranged from −100 to 100 with a running average between 1 and 800 across 892 episodes. In the MountainCarContinuous environment, the original DDPG struggled with negative rewards, while the proposed DDPG-GWO achieved rewards between 20 and 80 over 218 episodes with a total of 490 timesteps.

Abstract The greening of analytical methods has gained interest in the quantitative analysis field to reduce environmental impact and improve safety health conditions for analysts. Nirmatrelvir plus ritonavir is a new FDA approved co-packaged medication developed for the treatment of COVID-19. The aim of this research was to develop green fitted HPLC method using pre experimental computational testing of different stationary phases as well as selecting mobile phase regarding to green analytical chemistry principles. Computational study was designed to test the physical interaction between nirmatrelvir and ritonavir and different columns (C8, C18, Cyano column). The study showed that the C18 column was better for simultaneous HPLC analysis of the cited drugs. Regarding to green point of view, mobile phase consisted of ethanol: water (80:20, v/v) provided an efficient chromatographic separation of nirmatrelvir and ritonavir within a short analytical run time, reasonable resolution and excellent sensitivity. Isocratic elution was performed on a selected C18 column and a green adjusted mobile phase at flow rate of 1 mL/min and UV detection at 215 nm. The chromatographic system allowed complete baseline separation with retention times of 4.9 min for nirmatrelvir and 6.8 min for ritonavir. The method succeeded to determine nirmatrelvir and ritonavir over the concentration range of 1.0–20.0 μg/mL in the pure form and in pharmaceutical dosage form. Greenness profiles of the applied HPLC method was assessed using analytical eco-scale, the green analytical procedure index and the AGREE evaluation method. The results revealed adherence of the described method to the green analytical chemistry principles. The authors hope to provide a promising challenge for achieving green goals through integrating computational tools and applying them with green assessment metrics.

Abstract This paper introduces a new approach of testing piezoelectric nanofibers as antibacterial mat. In this work, both Polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) and PVDF embedded with thermoplastic polyurethane nanofibers are synthesized as nanofibers mat via electrospinning technique. Then, such mat is analyzed as piezoelectric material to generate electric voltage under different mechanical excitations. Furthermore, morphological and chemical characteristics have been operated to prove the existence of beta sheets piezoelectricity of the synthesized nanofibers mats. Then, the synthesized nanofibers surfaces have been cyclically stretched and exposed to bacteria specimen. It has been noticed that the generated voltage and the corresponding localized electric field positively affect the growth of bacteria and reduces the formation of K. penomenue samples bacteria colonies. In addition, the effect of both stretching frequency and pulses numbers have been studied on the bacteria count, growth kinetics, and protein leakage. Our contribution here is to introduce an innovative way of the direct impact of the generated electric field from piezoelectric nanofibers on the reduction of bacteria growth, without depending on traditional anti-bacterial nanoparticles. This work can open a new trend of the usability of piezoelectric nanofibers through masks, filters, and wound curing mats within anti-bacterial biological applications.

Abstract Cabergoline (CAB) is effective prolactin lowering drug. Evaluation of the bioequivalence for the new test product (0.5 mg CAB film-coated tablets) in Egypt is strongly needed for approval of the drug by the official health authority. Therefore, a highly sensitive and rapid (LC–MS/MS) method was validated for CAB analysis in human plasma. CAB was extracted from plasma via diethyl ether using Quetiapine (QUE) as an internal standard. Multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) in positive ion mode was used, m/z 452.3 → 381.2 for CAB and 384.2 → 253.1 for QUE. Separation was accomplished on a reversed-phase C18. FDA procedures for the bio-analytical method were followed. The method was used in the bioequivalence study to compare the test product (0.5 mg CAB) versus Dostinex tablets, on 24 healthy Egyptian volunteers. The total analysis time was 5.5 min for each sample which permits analysis of various samples per day. The linearity range was from 2.00 to 200.00 pg/mL for CAB. LOD and LOQ were found to be 0.5 and 1.6 pg/mL, respectively. The final greenness numerical value was 0.63 using AGREE tool. The results of pharmacokinetic parameter Tmax were 2.17, and 2.33 h; for test and reference products, respectively. The generic formulation of test product is considered bioequivalent to the reference product Dostinex 0.5 mg tablets and satisfies the requirements of the Egyptian market. The merits of the method over the previous published methods are low cost; availability of cheap internal standard; rapidness; use of acetonitrile-free solvents mobile phase.

Abstract Interest in piezoelectric nanocomposites has been vastly growing in the energy harvesting field. They are applied in wearable electronics, mechanical actuators, and electromechanical membranes. In this research work, nanocomposite membranes of different blend ratios from PVDF and TPU have been synthesized. The PVDF is responsible for piezoelectric performance where it is one of the promising polymeric organic materials containing β-sheets, to convert applied mechanical stress into electric voltage. In addition, the TPU is widely used in the plastic industry due to its superior elasticity. Our work investigates the piezoresponse analysis for different blending ratios of PVDF/TPU. It has been found that TPU blending ratios of 15–17.5% give higher output voltage at different stresses conditions along with higher piezosensitivity. Then, TPU addition with its superior mechanical elasticity can partially compensate PVDF to enhance the piezoelectric response of the PVDF/TPU nanocomposite mats. This work can help reducing the amount of added PVDF in piezoelectric membranes with enhanced piezo sensitivity and mechanical elasticity.

The prevalence of cyberbullying on Social Media (SM) platforms has become a significant concern for individuals, organizations, and society as a whole. The early detection and intervention of cyberbullying on social media are critical to mitigating its harmful effects. In recent years, ensemble learning has shown promising results for detecting cyberbullying on social media. This paper presents an ensemble stacking learning approach for detecting cyberbullying on Twitter using a combination of Deep Neural Network methods (DNNs). It also introduces BERT-M, a modified BERT model. The dataset used in this study was collected from Twitter and preprocessed to remove irrelevant information. The feature extraction process involved utilizing word2vec with Continuous Bag of Words (CBOW) to form the weights in the embedding layer. These features were then fed into a convolutional and pooling mechanism, effectively reducing their dimensionality, and capturing the position-invariant characteristics of the offensive words. The validation of the proposed stacked model and BERT-M was performed using well-known model evaluation measures. The stacked model achieved an F1-score of 0.964, precision of 0.950, recall of 0.92 and the detection time reported was 3 min, which surpasses the previously reported accuracy and speed scores for all known NLP detectors of cyberbullying, including standard BERT and BERT-M. The results of the experiment showed that the stacking ensemble learning approach achieved an accuracy of 97.4% in detecting cyberbullying on Twitter dataset and 90.97% on combined Twitter and Facebook dataset. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed stacking ensemble learning approach in detecting cyberbullying on SM and highlight the importance of combining multiple models for improved performance.

Two Qurʾānic concepts have largely defined how the Qurʾān related to previous revelations. Those two concepts are taḥrīf (alteration) and naskh (abrogation). Appealing to those two concepts, the mainstream understating of the Qurʾān was that it superseded pre-Islamic scriptures and that, after its revelation, such scriptures had limited epistemic value. With this in mind, this article aims to achieve descriptive and prescriptive goals. With the descriptive goal, it problematizes the theories of taḥrīf and naskh, with a view to showing how such concepts influenced Muslim understanding of the Straight Path (al-Ṣirāṭ al-mustaqīm). With the prescriptive goal, it proposes the concept of taṣdīq (confirmation) as an alternative. In doing so, this article demonstrates how, despite the fact that the Qurʾān never shied away from critiquing what it believes to be forms of deviation in the Bible, it never introduced itself as an “abrogator” (nāsikh) to it but rather as a “confirmer” (muṣaddiq) in no less than 12 occurrences in the Qurʾān, but the concept of taṣdīq was largely overshadowed by the overemphasis on taḥrīf and naskh.

Summary: Background: Early death after cancer surgery is higher in low-income and middle-income countries (LMICs) compared with in high-income countries, yet the impact of facility characteristics on early postoperative outcomes is unknown. The aim of this study was to examine the association between hospital infrastructure, resource availability, and processes on early outcomes after cancer surgery worldwide. Methods: A multimethods analysis was performed as part of the GlobalSurg 3 study—a multicentre, international, prospective cohort study of patients who had surgery for breast, colorectal, or gastric cancer. The primary outcomes were 30-day mortality and 30-day major complication rates. Potentially beneficial hospital facilities were identified by variable selection to select those associated with 30-day mortality. Adjusted outcomes were determined using generalised estimating equations to account for patient characteristics and country-income group, with population stratification by hospital. Findings: Between April 1, 2018, and April 23, 2019, facility-level data were collected for 9685 patients across 238 hospitals in 66 countries (91 hospitals in 20 high-income countries; 57 hospitals in 19 upper-middle-income countries; and 90 hospitals in 27 low-income to lower-middle-income countries). The availability of five hospital facilities was inversely associated with mortality: ultrasound, CT scanner, critical care unit, opioid analgesia, and oncologist. After adjustment for case-mix and country income group, hospitals with three or fewer of these facilities (62 hospitals, 1294 patients) had higher mortality compared with those with four or five (adjusted odds ratio [OR] 3·85 [95% CI 2·58–5·75]; p

Islamic analytic theology emerges into an uncharted territory that is dominated by two loosely defined areas: analytic philosophy and analytic theology. As a nascent field, this article argues that for Islamic analytic theology to move forward, it needs to place the Qurʾān at its centre. To have a clear understanding of our terms, I begin by attempting a definition of Islamic analytic theology. Taking a normative approach to the subject, I consolidate the discussion with five methodical questions. Firstly, what has been going on in Islamic theology? (The descriptive task). Secondly, why has this been going on? (The interpretative task). Thirdly, what ought to be going on? (The normative task). Fourthly, how might we, as Muslim theologians, respond? (The pragmatic task). Fifthly, why should Muslim theologians conduct analytic theology? (The functional task) To situate Islamic analytic theology within this wider discussion, I end the article by offering some insights on how Islamic analytic theology relates to old Kalām. By the end of the article, we will have laid the groundwork showing the way forward for a more developed Islamic analytic theology.

Gabapentin (GAB) is a cyclohexane acetic acid, structurally related to the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), and considered the principal inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system (CNS) of mammals. An ultra-performance liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrophotometry (UPLC-MS/MS) method for assessing pregabalin (PRE) in human plasma, was developed and validated, via PRE usage as an internal standard. The plasma underwent protein precipitation using methanol, prior to analysis. Chromatographic separation was completed using a mobile phase of methanol: 0.1% formic acid solution, (65:35, v/v), at a flow rate of 0.2 mL/min, with an isocratic approach, on an Agilent Eclipse plus column (50 × 2.1 mm and 1.8 μm), in 1.6 min of running time. An Agilent triple quadrupole was used for mass analysis, to detect the ion transitions for GAB and PER, respectively, at m/z of 172.1 → 154.1 and 160.10 → 142.10. The calibration curve, over the linear range of 0.050–10.0 μg/mL, showed a high correlation coefficient, r = 0.9993. The limits of detection and quantitation were 13.37 ng/mL and 40.52 ng/mL, respectively, based on the standard deviation and slope equation. The results for intra- and inter-day measurement accuracy and precision were in acceptable ranges. The method was extended into the assessment of oral administrations of GAB at different doses, of one 600 mg/tablet and two capsules (each one of them has 300 mg of GAB), to volunteers who were used in pharmacokinetics and bioequivalent studies. The AGREE assessment tool was used to visualize the proposed method’s greenness degree, which revealed a high AGREE rating score, supporting the accepted method’s greenness profile.

Advances in nanotechnology have enabled the creation of novel materials with specific electrical and physical characteristics. This leads to a significant development in the industry of electronics that can be applied in various fields. In this paper, we propose a fabrication of nanotechnology-based materials that can be used to design stretchy piezoelectric nanofibers for energy harvesting to power connected bio-nanosensors in a Wireless Body Area Network (WBAN). The bio-nanosensors are powered based on harvested energy from mechanical movements of the body, specifically the arms, joints, and heartbeats. A suite of these nano-enriched bio-nanosensors can be used to form microgrids for a self-powered wireless body area network (SpWBAN), which can be used in various sustainable health monitoring services. A system model for an SpWBAN with an energy harvesting-based medium access control protocol is presented and analyzed based on fabricated nanofibers with specific characteristics. The simulation results show that the SpWBAN outperforms and has a longer lifetime than contemporary WBAN system designs without self-powering capability.

Purpose – The relationship between military expenditure and economic growth is complex. The purpose of this paper is to examine this relationship in India. Design/methodology/approach – The design of this study is descriptive in the theoretical part, and quantitative in the applied one. The study uses time series approach, and Hendry General-to-Specific (GTS) modeling methodology, to examine and analyze the relationship between military expenditure and economic growth in India, during the period 1980-2016. Findings – The study shows the following: Absence of causal relationship between military expenditure and economic growth in India, during indicated period. The continuous regional tensions facing India represent the main factor for adopting Indian military strategy and emphasizing military capabilities. India has been able to build and develop links between civilian and military sectors. The Indian military scientific and manufacturing policies have achieved self-sufficiency in some of its military needs, a strong military industrial base and high levels of military exports. India participated with developed countries in military strategic industries. Such participation contributed to the integration of civilian and military sectors. India gave rights to private sector and foreign direct investment (FDI) for manufacturing in military industries, giving full marketing rights to the Indian government. These new policies considered a great move toward deep changes for Indian military manufacturing policy. Social implications – The findings shed light on the importance of stimulating links between civilian and military sectors, particularly in the industrial sectors and scientific activities. Originality/value – This study has a contribution to literature of military expenditures' economic effects. Theoretically, this study tries to fill the research gap regarding the impact of military expenditure in Indian case. Furthermore, to the best of the authors' knowledge, this is the first study that examines the relationship between military expenditure and economic growth in India using Hendry general-to-specific (GTS) modeling methodology and time series approach.

Idiopathic intracranial hypertension is characterized by an increase in intracranial pressure with no significant structural cause. The diagnostic criteria include general signs and symptoms of generalized increased intracranial pressure or papilledema, increased Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) pressure (>250 mm H2O), and normal brain imaging. It usually occurs in adults but rarely can be seen in children. We report a 7-year-old child with a manifestation of increased intracranial tension after the measles vaccine, associated with bilateral sixth nerve palsy and bilateral facial palsy with lower motor neuron features. Normal magnetic resonance imaging and CSF results were normal, except for an increase in CSF pressure. The symptoms began to be resolved after lumbar puncture with the complete resolution of symptoms after one and half months. We add also acetazolamide at the proper dose to reduce intracranial pressure from the first day of diagnosis.

Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) is a Gram-positive bacteria considered one of the leading causes of community and hospital-acquired illnesses or public health concerns. Antibiotic resistance in this microorganism is one of the greatest issues in global health care. The use of metal nanoparticles and their oxides is one of the potential approaches to combating bacteria resistance to antibiotics. The antibacterial properties of ZnO NPs against enterotoxigenic S. aureus were studied. ZnO NPs were tested in vitro by agar diffusion test. They resulted in 26 and 22 mm zones of inhibition for a size of 20 nm and a concentration of 20 mM against 105 and 107 CFU/mL S. aureus, respectively. The MIC of ZnO NPs of various sizes, 20 and 50 nm, with 105 CFU/mL was 2.5 and 5 mM, respectively. MIC with 107 CFU/mL was five mM for 20 and 50 nm ZnO NPs. Further, the highest growth reduction percentage, 98.99% in the counts of S. aureus was achieved by ZnO NPs of size 20 nm and concentration of 10 mM. Moreover, the obtained ELISA results indicated a significantly decreased concentration of enterotoxin A with all concentrations and sizes of ZnO NPs. PCR analysis showed a significant effect on sea gene in response to ZnO NPs treatments leading to loss of the gene, unlike the unaffected nuc gene. Moreover, morphological changes and cell shape distortion were detected by scanning electron microscope for bacterial cells treated with ZnO NPs.

Naftazone is a quinone-semi carbazone drug that possesses a strong orange color, and hence it was usually analyzed colorimetrically or by HPLC-UV. However, these methods are not sensitive enough to determine naftazone in biological samples. Naftazone lacks intrinsic fluorescence and does not possess easily derivatizable functional groups. In this contribution, we introduced the first spectrofluorimetric method for naftazone assay through reduction-elicited fluorogenic derivatization through the reduction of its quinone-semicarbazone moiety to the corresponding quinol-semicarbazide derivative by potassium borohydride as a reduction probe. The solvent-dependent fluorescence of the reaction product was studied in various protic and aprotic solvents. Eventually, the fluorescence of the reduced naftazone was measured in 2-propanol at λemission of 350 nm after excitation at λecxitation of 295 nm. The relative fluorescence intensity was linearly correlated to the drug concentration (r = 0.9995) from 10.0 to 500 ng/mL with high sensitivity, where the lower detection limit was 2.9 ng/mL. Hence, the method was effectively applied for naftazone tablets quality control with a mean %recovery of 100.3 ± 1.5, and the results agreed with those of the comparison HPLC-UV method. Furthermore, a new salting-out assisted liquid-liquid extraction (SALLE) method was established for naftazone extraction from human serum, followed by its determination using the developed reduction-based fluorogenic method. The developed SALLE method showed excellent recovery for naftazone from human serum (92.3–106.5%) with good precision (RSD ≤ 6.8%). Additionally, the reaction of naftazone with potassium borohydride was kinetically monitored, and it was found to follow pseudo-first-order kinetics with an activation energy of 43.8 kcal/mol. The developed method’s greenness was approved using three green analytical chemistry metrics.

Natural products are an excellent source of therapeutic products which has led to the discovery of many important drugs that play an important role in the treatment of various human diseases. In this current study two compounds has been isolated from Senecio royleanus DC. (Asteraceae) were undertaken for antibacterial and antifungal activity against five bacterial and fungal pathogens. The compounds isolated from Senecio royleanus, viz; 1,10β-epoxy 6-oxo-furanoeremophilan and 1β, 10-epoxy-furanoeremophilan displayed a very important role against all bacterial and fungal strains. 1,10 β-epoxy 6-oxo-furanoeremophilan showed maximum antibacterial activity against Agrobacterium tumefaciens (13 mm). While it showed maximum fungal activity against Fusarium oxysporum (15 mm). 1β,10-Epoxy-furanoeremophilan was found inactive in antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, and showed maximum zone of inhibition against bacterial strain of Bacillus subtilis (12 mm) . It showed 12 mm zone against Rhizoctonia solani during antifungal activity. The fractions which showed significant antimicrobial activity i.e. (zoi ≥ 10 mm), were further tested to find out minimuminhibitory concentration and minimum bactericidal concentration at different concentrations.

Vitamin D deficiency is an unrecognized health problem worldwide. This investigation was carried out to assess the level of vitamin D and to figure out the reasons of vitamin D insufficiency in children living in Jeddah city, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This investigation was carried out in Pediatric and Maternity Hospital Almosadia in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia from October till December, 2015. One hundred healthy children were involved in this study, aged 5 to 15 year-old. Serum calcium and 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels were estimated. Supplemental vitamin D consumption and sun-exposure time were determined. Respondents age was between 1 to 15 year-old. The males were 45(45%) and females were 55 (55%). 98 % of them were Saudis, 1% were Yemeni and 1% were Palestinian. The average exposure to sun light was 7.12±4.39 minutes/day. The mean of daily vitamin D intake was163.8±55.44 units/day and 26% of children were taking more than 200 IU/day. The average of vitamin D serum level was 15.01±4.5 ng/ml and only 16% of subjects had serum concentration of vitamin D >20 ng/ml (P=0.036). The calcium serum mean level was7.24±2.04 mg/dl (P=.001). Eminent prevalence of vitamin D insufficiency was observed among very healthful children residing in a sunny Jeddah city. Proper exposure to sunlight and vitamin D supplements can prevent vitamin D deficiency.

Combination therapy of many anthelmintic drugs has been used to achieve fast animal curing. Q-DRENCH is an oral suspension, containing four different active drugs against GIT worms in sheep, commonly used in Australia and New Zeeland. The anti-parasitic drugs are Albendazole (ALB), Levamisole HCl (LEV), Abamectin (ABA), and Closantel (CLO). The main purpose of this study is to present a new simultaneous stability-indicting HPLC-DAD method for the analysis of the four drugs. The recommended liquid system was 1 mL of Triethylamine/L water, adjusting the pH to 3.5 by glacial acetic acid: acetonitrile solvent (20:80, v/v). Isocratic elusion achieved the desired results of separation at a 2 mL/min flow rate using Zorbax C-18 as a stationary phase. Detection was performed at 210 nm. The linearity ranges were 15.15 to 93.75 μg/mL for ALB, 25 to 150 μg/mL for LEV, 30 to 150 μg/mL for ABA, and 11.7 to 140.63 μg/mL for CLO. Moreover, the final greenness score was 0.62 using the AGREE tool, which reflects the eco-friendly nature. Moreover, the four drugs were determined successfully in the presence of their stressful degradation products. This work presents the first chromatographic method for simultaneous analysis for Q-DRENCH oral suspension drugs in the presence of their stressful degradation products.

Background Most humerus shaft fractures can be treated successfully using the conservative methods. When choosing surgical fixation, there is a debate between the use of plate and screws and intramedullary nails. Aims The aim of this study was to compare the results of the dynamic compression plate and the antegrade interlocked humeral nail in the fixation of humerus shaft fractures. Patients and methods A total of 40 patients were selected by a randomized method to be treated by either method; there were 20 patients in each group and patients were followed up for at least 6 months until union. Result The results showed superiority of the plate in terms of the union rate and shoulder function and the use of the nail was better in terms of the infection rate and radial nerve palsy. Conclusion The plate is still the standard of treatment of the humerus shaft fracture and the nails better be used for more comminuted or open fractures. More future studies with large numbers required to overcome our relatively small number.

Waste resulting from edible plants is considered one of the best sources of valuable phytochemicals. A promising approach for using these appreciated wastes is extracting precious medically important constituents, for example, free quercetin. Two new cost-effective and green extraction methods are introduced in the present study: ultrasound-assisted glycerol extraction (UAGE) and microwave-assisted extraction (MAE). These extraction protocols are optimized using factorial design to define the highest yield of extraction, and HPLC-UV at 370 nm was used as a method of yield analysis. Quercetin remained stable during the whole process in both extraction protocols. A standard addition technique was performed to quantify quercetin in different extracts and eliminate the matrix effect. In UAGE and MAE, extraction yields were 16.55 ± 0.81 and 27.20 ± 1.55 mg/1g from red onion scales on a dry base, respectively. The amount of quercetin extracted using MAE was superior to UAGE in terms of time and yield. A greenness assessment of the offered studies compared to previously published relevant extraction methods was performed using the analytical eco-scale assessment method (ESA) and national environmental methods index (NEMI). MAE showed to be a greener method with a higher ESA score and a greener NEMI pictogram.

This paper investigates the spontaneous decay rate of elliptical plasmonic nanostructures. The refractive index was analyzed using the effective medium theory (EMT). Then, the polarizability, spontaneous radiative, non-radiative decay rate, and electric field enhancement factor were characterized for the targeted elliptical nanostructures at different aspect ratios. All of the optical analyses were analyzed at different distances between the excited fluorescent coupled atom and the plasmonic nanostructure (down to 100 nm). This work is promising in selecting the optimum elliptical nanostructure according to the required decay rates for optical conversion efficiency control in energy harvesting for solar cells and optical sensing applications.

With the growth of deep learning in various classification problems, many researchers have used deep learning methods in environmental sound classification tasks. This paper introduces an end-to-end method for environmental sound classification based on a one-dimensional convolution neural network with Bayesian optimization and ensemble learning, which directly learns features representation from the audio signal. Several convolutional layers were used to capture the signal and learn various filters relevant to the classification problem. Our proposed method can deal with any audio signal length, as a sliding window divides the signal into overlapped frames. Bayesian optimization accomplished hyperparameter selection and model evaluation with cross-validation. Multiple models with different settings have been developed based on Bayesian optimization to ensure network convergence in both convex and non-convex optimization. An UrbanSound8K dataset was evaluated for the performance of the proposed end-to-end model. The experimental results achieved a classification accuracy of 94.46%, which is 5% higher than existing end-to-end approaches with fewer trainable parameters. Four measurement indices, namely: sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, precision, recall, F-measure, area under ROC curve, and the area under the precision-recall curve were used to measure the model performance. The proposed approach outperformed state-of-the-art end-to-end approaches that use hand-crafted features as input in selected measurement indices and time complexity.

The main objective of this study was to prepare and characterize oleogel as potential carrier for quercetin skin delivery. The formulations were prepared by adding olive oil (5–30%) to Pluronic F127 hydrogel and were evaluated for particle size, zeta potential, viscosity in vitro quercetin release and stability, and were compared with that of Pluronic F127 hydrogel. The selected formulation was characterized for its interaction possibility, ex vivo skin permeation and skin histological changes and safety. The particle sizes ranged from 345.3 ± 5.3 nm to 401.5 ± 2.8 nm, and possessed negative charges. The viscosities of the formulations were found in the range of 6367–4823 cps with inverse proportionality to olive oil percentage while the higher percentages showed higher quercetin release. Percentages of 25% and 30% olive oil showed instability pattern under the conditions of accelerated stability studies. Differential scanning calorimetry verified the existence of quercetin in micellar aggregation and the network in the case of hydrogel and oleogel respectively. Ex vivo skin permeation showed an improved skin permeation of quercetin when 20% olive oil containing oleogel was used. Skin histology after 10 days of application showed stratum corneum disruption and good safety profile. Based on these findings, the proposed oleogel containing 20% olive oil denotes a potential carrier for topical delivery of quercetin.

Stand-alone screens (SASs) are active sand control methods where compatible screens and slot sizes are selected through the sand retention test (SRT) to filter an unacceptable amount of sand produced from oil and gas wells. SRTs have been modelled in the laboratory using computer simulation to replicate experimental conditions and ensure that the selected screens are suitable for selected reservoirs. However, the SRT experimental setups and result analyses are not standardized. A few changes made to the experimental setup can cause a huge variation in results, leading to different plugging performance and sand retention analysis. Besides, conducting many laboratory experiments is expensive and time-consuming. Since the application of CNN in the petroleum industry attained promising results for both classification and regression problems, this method is proposed on SRT to reduce the time, cost, and effort to run the laboratory test by predicting the plugging performance and sand production. The application of deep learning has yet to be imposed in SRT. Therefore, in this study, a deep learning model using a one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1D-CNN) with adaptive moment estimation is developed to model the SRT with the aim of classifying plugging sign (screen plug, the screen does not plug) as well as to predict sand production and retained permeability using a varying sand distribution, SAS, screen slot size, and sand concentration as inputs. The performance of the proposed 1D-CNN model for the slurry test shows that the prediction of retained permeability and the classification of plugging sign achieved robust accuracy with more than a 90% value of R2, while the prediction of sand production achieved 77% accuracy. In addition, the model for the sand pack test achieved 84% accuracy in predicting sand production. For comparative model performance, gradient boosting (GB), K-nearest neighbor (KNN), random forest (RF), and support vector machine (SVM) were also modelled on the same datasets. The results showed that the proposed 1D-CNN model outperforms the other four machine learning models for both SRT tests in terms of prediction accuracy.

Within the field of poetic text linguistics, the theories of both text linguistics and prosodic linguistics have failed to reveal the nature of the creation of the poetic text and the way it is received by people. This necessitates adopting a new theoretical framework that combines the two approaches by focusing on nine norms: domain rules, length and separation rules, paragraph and sentence rules, phrases and words rules, and syllable and sound rules. These rules should be used by anyone who compares between different poetic texts on the one hand, and between poetic and non-poetic texts on the other.

Background: A simple noninvasive test that accurately distinguishes NASH from NAFL as well as determines the disease severity is urgently needed. Recently, it was found that determination of cytokeratin-18 (CK-18) fragments in the blood, predicts and correlates with histological NASH in which there is development of lobular inflammation, cell ballooning and fibrosis, supporting its usefulness in clinical practice. Aims: To evaluate the role of CK-18 as a non invasive marker in diagnosis of NASH and its usefulness in correlation with disease severity in Egyptian patients. Patients and methods: 90 subjects were divided into 3 groups: group I: including 30 patients with NASH, group II: including 30 patients with NAFL, and group III: including 30 healthy subjects as control. Diagnosis of NASH and its discrimination from NAFL was done by liver biopsy. CK-18 level in plasma was measured for all subjects using ELISA. Results: CK-18 was significantly elevated in patients of group I in comparison to group II and III patients, with mean ± SD: 460 ± 279, 167 ± 56 and 149 ± 57, respectively, and P value: 0.001. The (ROC) curve diagnostic performance of CK18 in diagnosis of NASH shows: cutoff value of >240 U/L, with sensitivity 76.7%, specificity 95.0%. Ck-18 was found to correlate with disease severity assessed by NAS scoring system with P value: 0.001. Conclusion: Measurement of CK18 in NASH is a useful screening, diagnostic and staging biomarker.

Abstract. Growth hormone (GH) and insulin growth factor 1 (IGF1) are implicated in nociceptive processing; it has been reported that the latter participates in neonatal inflammatory nociception. In the target article, the authors propose that local inflammation evoked by carrageenan administration in mice produces a decrease in the local GH levels and an increment of IGF1 receptors type 1 expression, this produces behavioral nociception and peripheral sensitization that can be prevented by GH systemic administration pretreatment.

RP-HPLC chromatographic method was developed for the determination of hyoscine N-butyl bromide (HBB) and Paracetamol (PAR). In this chromatographic method, HBB and PAR were separated using C18 (25 cm × 4.6 mm i.d. 5 μm particle size) column as a stationary phase and water: methanol (50:50, V/V pH adjusted to 3.9 with CF3COOH acid) as a mobile phase, maintaining the flow rate at 1.0 mL min−1 with UV detection at 210 nm. The proposed method was successfully applied for the determination of HBB and PAR in pure form over a concentration range of 2.0–50.0 μg mL−1 for HBB with mean percentage recovery of 100.10 ± 0.475 and over a concentration range of 5.0–200.0 μg mL−1 for PAR with mean percentage recovery of 99.87 ± 0.942 and in their pharmaceutical formulations (Buscopan plus® tablets, Buscamol® tablets and Buscopan plus® suppositories).

The choice of this subject, such as the luxury of intellectual, but there were several reasons we've gone to his choice, and focus the problem of research on the variation in the position of Islamic theology and Iraqi legislation on certain issues pertaining to the subject, as well as the lack of clarity of the specific nature of the contract between the present (Council of the contract) in contracts of e-commerce, is added to the problems resulting from the privacy enjoyed by such contracts. The hypothesis-based research on: Is that the contracts are such as the contract between the present or whether it is of such contracts between absent, especially since the Iraqi legislature did not address this issue, and this requires us to compare and measure contract traditional to suggest the special nature of the consideration for the way that are and then urged the Iraqi legislature to provide for the special nature and that an update of the development and to remedy deficiencies in the legislative field of e-commerce contracts. This research aims to highlight the role played by the contract and in particular the agreement between present at the contracts of e-commerce, not to mention that the research aims to reach a standard that can be guided by it to determine what is a contract between present and what is a contract between absent with respect to contracts of e-commerce. And illustrate the problems raised by such a contract and how to solve them. And we determined that this contract may take the form of contract between the contracting parties were present if the direct contact or contract between absent if they are not in direct contact as in the contract via e-mail. .

A new series of 1-phenyl-3-(4-(pyridin-3-yl)phenyl)urea derivatives were synthesized and subjected to in vitro antiproliferative screening against National Cancer Institute (NCI)-60 human cancer cell lines of nine different cancer types. Fourteen compounds 5a–n were synthesized with three different solvent exposure moieties (4-hydroxylmethylpiperidinyl and trimethoxyphenyloxy and 4-hydroxyethylpiperazine) attached to the core structure. Substituents with different π and σ values were added on the terminal phenyl group. Compounds 5a–e with a 4-hydroxymethylpiperidine moiety showed broad-spectrum antiproliferative activity with higher mean percentage inhibition values over the 60-cell line panel at 10 µM concentration. Compound 5a elicited lethal rather than inhibition effects on SK-MEL-5 melanoma cell line, 786-0, A498, RXF 393 renal cancer cell lines, and MDA-MB-468 breast cancer cell line. Two compounds, 5a and 5d showed promising mean growth inhibitions and thus were further tested at five-dose mode to determine median inhibitory concentration (IC50) values. The data revealed that urea compounds 5a and 5d are the most active derivatives, with significant efficacies and superior potencies than paclitaxel in 21 different cancer cell lines belonging particularly to renal cancer and melanoma cell lines. Moreover, 5a and 5d had superior potencies than gefitinib in 38 and 34 cancer cell lines, respectively, particularly colon cancer, breast cancer and melanoma cell lines.
