This study was conducted to determine the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) levels and health risk of yogurt and butter samples collected from Tehran using MSPE/GC‐MS (magnetic solid‐phase extraction/gas chromatography‐mass spectrometry). The results revealed that the limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) were ranged from 0.040 to 0.060 and 0.121 to 0.181 μg/kg, respectively; with recoveries ranged from 86.1% to 100.3%. The highest mean of total PAHs was higher in butter (6.87 ± 1.21 μg/kg) than in yogurt (3.82 ± 0.54 μg/kg). The level of benzo (a)pyrene in all samples was lower than of standard levels of the European Union (EU). The highest value of all PAHs in samples was recorded in the winter season and also in the expiration date. The percentile 95% of the total hazard quotient (THQ) due to the consumption of yogurt and butter recorded 1.33E‐02 and 3.69E‐04 in adults and 6.12E‐02 and 1.75E‐03 in children, respectively. The percentile of 95% incremental lifetime of cancer risk (ILCR) due to the ingestion of yogurt and butter recorded 1.17E‐06 and 2.02E‐08 for adults and 5.51E‐06 and 9.46E‐08 for children, respectively. The rank order of 7 PAHs in adult and children based on P95% Hazard Quotient (HQ) in all samples was benzo(a)anthracene (BaA) > pyrene (P) > fluorene (F) > fluoranthene (Fl) > acenaphthylene (Ace) > anthracene (A) > naphthalene (NA). According to the Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) method, health‐risk assessment showed that children and adults are not at significant health risk., Determine the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) levels and health risk of yogurt and butter samples collected from Tehran using MSPE/GC‐MS. The highest mean of total PAHs was higher in butter (6.87 ± 1.21) than in yogurt (3.82 ± 0.54). The rank order of 7 PAHs in adult and children based on P95% Hazard Quotient (HQ) in all samples was BaA > PY > F > FL > AcP > A > NA.

The aim of the current study was to evaluate the probabilistic health risk and the concentration of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in commercial tea and coffee samples. For determining the mentioned contaminants in sixty-four samples, a reliable and sensitive technique was validated and developed. The technique is established on magnetic solid-phase extraction and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis (MSPE/GC-MS). The maximum mean of ƩPAHs in coffee samples was 13.75 ± 2.90 μg kg-1, while the minimum mean ƩPAHs in tea samples was 4.77 ± 1.01 μg kg-1. The mean concentration of benzo(a)pyrene (BaP) in samples ranged from 0.64 to 2.07 μg kg-1 which was lower than that of standard levels (10 μg kg-1) established by the European Union (EU). The Monte Carlo simulation results showed that the actual target hazard quotient (THQ) for the adult and children was equal to 1.63E-04 and 1.67E-04, respectively; hence, non-carcinogenic health risk for consumers is negligible. The result of actual incremental lifetime cancer risk (ILCR) was lower than the limits of safe risk (1E-4), indicating no notable possibility of cancer risk due to the digestion of tea and coffee for children and adults. Therefore, it can be concluded that the amount of contamination of popular commercial coffee and tea available in the Iranian market with PAHs is often similar to that found in other countries and was lower than the standard of EU. Thus, the processing conditions of these products must be controlled to prevent the formation of PAHs due to the suspicion of carcinogenicity and mutation.

The present study was devoted to investigate the PTE concentrations including cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), copper(Cu), iron (Fe), mercury (Hg), manganese (Mn), nickel (Ni), lead (Pb), arsenic(As), and zinc (Zn) among six types of edible wild, 23 cultivated mushroom samples collected from Iran’s market by the aid of an inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). Also, the related health risk assessment was established by the aid of the Monte Carlo simulation method (MSC). The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) were ranged 0.001–0.048 and 0.003–0.160 ppm, respectively. The concentrations of As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hg, Mn, Ni, Pb, and Zn were determined in the ranges of 0.003–11. 5, 0.0008–5.89, 0.32–26.32, 9.15–110.08, 15.25–751.17, 0.16–2.24, 2.1–60.47, 1.21–24.22, 0.16–8.92, and 37.13–268.11 mg kg−1, respectively. According to findings, highest mean concentration of Cr in both types of mushrooms (cultivated and wild) was lower than recommended level by Codex Alimentarius/Food and Agriculture Organization/World Health Organization (CODEX/FAO/WHO) while the corresponding values for Hg (0.87 mg kg−1), As (1.39 mg kg−1), Ni (10.08 mg kg−1), Cu (36.65 mg kg−1), Cr (10.44 mg kg−1), Cd (0.589 mg kg−1), Fe (201.04 mg kg−1), Mn (10.30 mg kg−1), Zn (2266.43 mg kg−1), and Pb (3.81 mg kg−1) were higher than related standard levels. According to the health risk assessment, no concern regarding the non-carcinogenic risk due to the ingestion of PTEs via the consumption of the edible mushrooms, except Hg in wild mushrooms for children, was noted.

Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are dangerous environmental compounds that are sometimes found in food. The objective of present study was to measure the level of 16 PAHs in bottled water samples (non-carbonated or drinking, mineral, carbonated and carbonated flavored water) in Tehran by using magnetic solid-phase extraction and gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (MSPE/GC–MS) method. The limit of detections (LOD), limit of quantifications (LOQ) and recovery of PAH compounds were 0.010–0.210, 0.03–0.700 μg/L and 92.5–103.4%, respectively. The results showed that the mean of total PAHs in samples was 2.98 ± 1.63 µg/L and the mean of Benzo[a]pyrene (BaP) was 0.08 ± 0.03 µg/L, which were lower than standard level of the US-EPA (0.2 µg/L, BaP in drinking water). Also, our results showed that carbonated flavored water had maximum mean of total PAHs (4.95 ± 0.8 µg/L) and mineral water had minimum mean of total PAHs (1.24 ± 0.8 µg/L). The Monte Carlo method was applied to calculate the Estimated Daily Intake (EDI) and Incremental Life Cancer Risk (ILCR) indexes. In all samples, the rank order of the estimated CDI values based on the 95 percent percentile was F > B(a)A > Ace > Fl > Na > Ph > B(b)F > B(k)F > B(a)P > P > Ac > A. The cancer risk and uncertainty analysis of 95th Percentile for bottled waters studied gave values lower permissible limit of 10−6, indicating not pose a serious concern to humans.

Background: The aqueous extract of some plants has an antibacterial effect on pathogenic bacteria for humans. Objective: This study designed to investigate the antimicrobial activity of aqueous extract of some plants on some food-borne pathogenic bacteria in a laboratory setting has done. Method: In an experimental study, plants collected from of Tehran city and aqueous extract of them, extracted. To determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) with two ways of visual and turbidity (OD), serially different concentrations (1.25-80 mg/ml) on different cultures was prepared. Disc diffusion (DD) test in concentrations of 10, 20 and 40 mg/ml to determine the average diameter of inhibition for some bactria, done. Results: The results showed that the inhibitory and fungicidal aqueous extract of Solanum americanum on various bacteria was more than any other aqueous extracts (Staphylococcus aureus MIC = 10 mg/ml) and also Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhimurium were the most sensitive and most resistant bacteria to aqueous extract, respectively. Conclusion: According to the results, we can be hopeful the extract of Solanum americanum in the treatment of pathogenic bacteria such as S. aureus, can be help and it can used in the food industry as a food protection. Recommended by extracting the active ingredients of the extract of this plant and other plants, more research done on the composition of extract.

The synthesis of compounds with an excellent adsorption capability plays an essential role to remove contaminants such as phthalic acid esters (PAEs) with potential carcinogenic characteristics from different food products. In this context, for the first time, a novel adsorbent (MWCNT-Fe3O4/Ag) was synthesized by using iron (magnetic agent), and silver (catalytic and surface enhancer agent) to further approach in a magnetic SPE-GC/MS method for determining of PAEs in carbonated soft drink samples. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) values of MSPE-GC/MS were determined in six PAEs as a range of 10.8–22.5 and 36–75 ng/L, respectively. Also, the calibration curves of PAEs were linear (R2 = 0.9981–0.9995) over the concentration level of 10.000 ng/L and the recoveries of the six PAEs were ranging from 96.60% to 109.22% with the RSDs less than 8%. Moreover, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD), vibrating sample magnetometry (VSM) and transmission electron microscopy analyses (TEM) were utilized to characterize the produced MWCNT-Fe3O4/Ag. Based on the findings, the surface of MWCNT is relatively uniform, which became coarser after loading with Fe3O4/Ag particles. Also, EDX spectrum showed the carbon (C), iron (Fe), oxygen (O), Ag and copper (Cu) are the main components of synthesized MWCNTs-Fe3O4/Ag. The successful adhesion of Fe3O4/Ag on the texture of MWCNTs using a co-precipitation method was confirmed by XRD and FT-IR assays. Additionally, excellent crystallinity and clear lattice nanocrystals fringes of prepared MWCNT-Fe3O4/Ag was demonstrated by TEM analysis. Based on the obtained VSM images, the prepared sorbent (MWCNT-Fe3O4/Ag) has the good magnetic performance for magnetic separation and extraction processes. It was concluded that the synthesized MWCNT-Fe3O4/Ag could be used as an efficient adsorbent for determining contaminants such as PAEs in different beverage samples. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the concentration of PAHs and health risk in edible mushrooms using magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) and gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) method. Based on the results, the concentration of total PAHs was in the range from 0.82 to 6.25 µg/kg (with the means of 3.85 ± 0.24 µg/kg). In this study, acenaphthylene (Ace) had the maximum mean level in mushroom samples (0.84 ± 0.19 μg/kg) and benzo(a)pyrene (BaP), acenaphthene (Ac), phenanthrene (Pa), dibenzo[a,h]anthracene (DahA), benzo(a)anthracene (BaA), fluoranthene (Fl), indeno[1,2,3-cd]pyrene (IP) and benzo[g,h,i]perylene (BgP) had minimum mean level (non-detected). The highest mean values of total PAHs (4.88 ± 0.30 μg/kg) was detected in grilled mushroom samples and lowest mean of total PAHs (2.77 ± 0.04 μg/kg) was detected in raw mushroom samples. The concentration of contamination in edible mushrooms was raw grilled, respectively. Furthermore, heat map visualization was applied to evaluate the relationship between the quantity and type of 16 PAHs in edible mushroom samples. Ultimately, the incremental lifetime cancer risk in edible mushrooms for adults and children was 6.85E-08 and 3.47E-07, respectively, which was lower than the acceptable risk limit (10–6) and all of the edible mushrooms sold in Tehran were considered safe for consumers.

This study was conducted to evaluate the concentration and health risk of trace elements in milk powder and baby food samples marketed in Iran using inductive couple plasma/optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) method. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) were ranged from 1.80 × 10–5 to 2.17 × 10–3 and 6.00 × 10–5 to 7.22 × 10–3 mg/kg, respectively, with recoveries ranged from 92 to 105%. Zinc (Zn) was found in a high mean concentration (8.49 × 10–1 ± 3.93 × 10–2 mg/kg) in milk powder, and iron (Fe) was found in the highest mean concentration (2.04 ± 3.61 × 10–2 mg/kg) in baby food. The Monte Carlo simulation results for the infants revealed that the rank order of the hazard quotient (HQ) index was mercury (Hg) > nickel (Ni) > arsenic (As) > cadmium (Cd) > aluminum (Al). Further, the result of non-carcinogenic and probability of carcinogenic risk was lower than the limits of safe risk (HQ > 1 and cancer risk (CR) > 1 × 10–4). In conclusion, the toxic elements content in the tested products was sufficiently low, and all of the milk powder and baby food sold in Iran could be considered safe for infants and children.

Phthalic acid esters (PAEs) are compounds that are used in the bottle as the main plasticizers. Therefore, the possibility of releasing phthalate esters into beverages is very high and there is a concern to consumer health and monitoring organizations. The aim of this research was to assess the phthalic acid esters (di-n-octyl phthalate (DNOP), butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP), dimethyl phthalate (DMP), diethyl phthalate (DEP) and dibutyl phthalate (DBP), bis(di-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), and total PAEs) in bottled non-alcoholic malt beverages (n = 120) by multi-walled carbon nanotubes were magnetized with iron (MWCNT-Fe3O4) using gaschromatography/mass spectrometry (GC-MS). The results showed that the highest and the lowest levels of total phthalate esters in samples were 9483.93 and 2412.50 ng/L, respectively. The mean of DEHP which has also been found to be carcinogenic in all samples was lower than 5944.73 ng/L. The highest concentration of DEHP in four samples was upper than 8957.87 ng/L. Perceived limit of detection (LOD) ranged from 13 to 30 ng/L and the limit of quantification (LOQ) ranged from 39 to 90 ng/L. Multivariate techniques and heat map visualization were used to assess the correlation among the type and levels of PAEs with the brand, color, product date, pH, sugar, volume, and gas pressure. Therefore, based on heat map and principal component analysis (PCA) results, the DEHP and total PAEs were the closest accessions, indicating that these variables had similar trends. Based on the results, it can be stated that due to the low average of total phthalate esters in non-alcoholic malt beverages, there is no serious health hazard of these compounds for humans.

The maximum concentration of DEHP in four samples was upper than the standard levels (8957.87 ng/l). Also, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), scattered energy X-ray (EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis were used to describe the generated MWCNT-Fe3O4. Multivariate techniques and heat-map visualization were used to assess the correlation among the type and levels of PAEs with brand, color, product date, pH, sugar, volume and gas pressure. Therefore, based on heat-map and principal component analysis (PCA) results, the Bis (2- ethyl hexyl) phthalate (DEHP) and total PAEs were the closest accessions, indicating that these variables had similar trends. In the current study, a novel magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) technique combined with a gas chromatography/mass spectroscopy (GC/MS) was developed to determine the phthalate ester content of bottled Doogh samples. Doogh is a yogurt-based drinking beverage, which is frequently consumed in Middle East and Balkans. It is produced by stirring yogurt in Chern separation machine and consists of substances such as water, yogurt, and salt in addition to aqueous extracts of native herbs. The magnetic multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT-Fe3O4) were used as adsorbents of phthalate acid esters (PAEs) due to a superior adsorption capability of hydrophobic compounds. In this context, the quantity of the extractable migrated phthalate esters (dibutyl phthalate (DBP), dimethyl phthalate (DMP), butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP), diethyl phthalate (DEP), di-N-octyl phthalate (DNOP), and bis (2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP)) from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottles into Doogh samples was measured. The correlation between the concentration of migrated PAEs and some factors such as the type of Doogh (gaseous and without gas), difference in brand (five brands), volume (1500 and 300 mL), and the storage time also was investigated. The migration level into Doogh samples was increased by incorporating of gas as well as increasing the volume of PET bottles. Also, with elaborating of storage time, the migration of some phthalates such as DEHP (the mean from 2419.85 ng L−1 in the first week to 2716.15 ng L−1 in the second month), DEP, and total phthalate was increased. However, no significant difference in concentrations of migrated phthalate esters among different examined brands was noted. Finally, the concentration of migrated PAEs from bottle into all the examined Doogh samples was below the defined standards by EPA; 6 μg/L for DEHP in drinking water.

In this study, at first were prepared novel multi-walled carbon nanotubes modified with catalytic nanoparticles of iron oxide and silver (MWCNTs-Fe3O4/Ag) by mixing the magnetic particles. Due to their excellent absorption and desorption capability towards hydrophobic compounds, the magnetic MWCNTs were used as adsorbent of magnetic solid-phase extraction (MSPE) to extract phthalate acid esters (PAEs). Our results showed the highest concentration of phthalate esters of bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate (DEHP) which is much higher than the standard level in the four samples (6766.6, 9201, 9301.6, and 14,008 ng/L). Finally, the established MSPE-GC/MS method was successfully applied to the determination of PAEs from carbonated soft drinks and the MSPE-GC/MS method developed in current study provides a new option for the detection of PAEs from carbonated soft drinks with complex matrices.

Phthalate acid esters (PAEs) have attracted increasing attention because of their toxicity and ubiquity. In the present study, the level of five common PAEs in plastic bottled milk were determined using a novel adsorbent (a combination of multi-walled carbon nanotubes and iron oxide (Fe3O4) nanoparticles), and the PAEs’ associated potential risks to human were also assessed. The investigated compounds were dimethyl phthalate (DMP), diethyl phthalate (DEP), dibutyl phthalate (DBP), di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP) and di-n-octyl phthalate (D-nOP). The good repeatability, high sensitivity, and short time extraction made this method an effective one for analysis of PAEs in milk. Twenty-four plastic bottled milk samples from 11 commercial brands were chosen according to their fat content and analyzed for target PAEs under different storage times (1 and four days upon purchased). The results revealed that the mean levels of PAEs were as follows: DnOP > DEHP > DBP > DEP > DMP. The results of correlation analysis and principal component (PC) biplot analysis revealed that DnOP and DEHP in the analyzed milk samples had common sources and/or similar chemical behavior. Moreover, fat content had a significant effect on the PAEs level of milk. While no significant correlation was obtained between the level of PAEs and the storage time. The estimated daily intake (EDI) of PAEs from bottled milk consumption were below the tolerable daily intake (TDI) values. Hence, daily consumption of bottled milk should not pose non-carcinogenic adverse health effects to humans. Moreover, the estradiol risk of bottled milk was low.

The presence and amount of 15 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were determined in four types of commonly consumed well-done grilled meat (Kebab) in Tehran restaurants. The main goal was to assess the hazard potential of grilled meat prepared in Tehran restaurants and to determine the contributions of fuel and meat types on concentrations of PAHs in Kebabs. Based on the results, the total PAHs concentration was in the range from 7.37 to 17.94 μg kg−1. The differences in PAHs concentrations were found to be significant between charcoal and gas-grilled samples as well as between different meat types. The highest and lowest concentrations of PAHs were detected in charcoal grilled chicken wings and gas grilled chicken meat respectively. Benzo[a]pyrene (BaP), one of the main indicators for the occurrence of PAHs in food, was detected in all the samples in the range of 0.28–5.81 μg kg−1. In addition, four samples exceeded the maximum acceptable limit for BaP established by the European Commission.

In this study, the levels of Cd, Hg, Sn, Al, Pb and As of 72 samples (36 samples for fruits juices and 36 samples for fruits canned) of three different brands including of Peach, Orange, Cherry, and Pineapple (18 samples of each fruits) marketed in Tehran, Iran (2015) were evaluated using Inductively Coupled Plasma-Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES) technique. Also, Probabilistic risk assessment (non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic risks) was estimated by models include target hazard quotient (THQ) and cancer risk (CR) in the Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) model. However, all samples were contaminated with the heavy metals investigated, most of them not surpassed established standards. The range of concentration for Al, Sn, As, Cd, Hg, and Pb as average in fruit juices were reported as 340.62 (65.17-1039.2), 72.33 (49.76-119.4), 3.76 (1.137-18.36), 2.12 (0.89-3.44), 0.351 and 40.86 (27.87-66.1) μg/kg, respectively. The level of heavy metals measured in different kinds of fruit juices was ranked as Al > Sn > Pb > As > Cd > Hg, and for fruits canned this rank was Pb > Al > Sn > As > Cd > Hg. The range of concentration for Al, Sn, As, Cd, Hg, and Pb in fruits canned were reported as 361.23 (43.15-1121.2), 101.42 (71.45-141.61), 3.92 (1.279-19.50), 2.78 (1.09-5.56), 0.35 and 690.54 (470.56-910.14) μg/kg, respectively. The lead (Pb) concentration in 97.22% (35 out of 36 samples) of fruit juices samples surpassed Codex limit (0.05 mg/kg) and in all samples of FC was lower than the legal limit of Codex limit (1 mg/kg). All of the samples had Tin (Sn) lower than the legal limit of Codex (fruit juices 100 mg/kg and FC 250 mg/kg). The MCS indicated that the rank order of heavy metals in both adults and children based on THQ was Al > Sn > As > Pb > Cd > Hg. The THQ of Al and Sn in the FJ and FC, for both adults, and children, was considerably higher than 1 value. Also, CR of As in both adults and children were higher than 1E-6 value. Although the mean concentration of heavy metal in the FJ and FC was lower than the standard limit, the MCS indicated that adults and children are at considerable non-carcinogenic and carcinogenic risks.

An MSPE/GC–MS method was used for the measuring of 16 PAHs and assessing of the effect of different factors on PAHs concentrations among different types of dairy products. Moreover, the probabilistic health risk assessment due to ingestion of PAHs by the consumption of milk and milk powder was evaluated. The limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantitation LOQ were ranged between 0.040-0.075 and 0.121-0.227 μg/kg, respectively. The highest mean of total PAHs was noted in milk powdered (2.28 ± 0.39 μg/kg), while the lowest content was observed in pasteurized milk (0.87 ± 0.18 μg/kg). Except for a few samples of milk powder, the PAHs contents of the other samples was lower than standard limits while the concentration of BaP was lower than of standard levels proposed by EU (0.02-0.06 μg/kg). Considering season effect, the samples in winter had the highest level of PAHs. The percentile 95% actual THQ was the 3.64E-04 value that was lower than 1 value. Hence, the consumers are not at considerable non-carcinogenic health risk while the actual ILCR was 3.53E-03 as higher than 1E-04. Therefore, consumers are at considerable carcinogenic risk. Generally speaking, approaching the control plans for a decrease in the concentration of PAHs in dairy products in order to control carcinogenic health risk is crucial.

Background: Phthalate esters are polymeric compounds usually used as a plasticizer. These materials can enter to the human body through various ways the main way could be food packaging. Chronic contact with these materials could result cancer, including breast cancer in women and prostate cancer in men as well as other endocrine problems. The objective of this study was to assess the concentration of phthalate esters in carbonated beverages. Methods: In this study, a magnetic nano-scale adsorbent, made from carbon nanotubes and Fe3O4. Deposition of Fe3O4 on the adsorbent could result in improvement of adsorption and desorption as well as extraction procedure. Then, by means of adsorbent and solvent extraction, phthalate esters were extracted from the beverage matrices and determined using GC-MS analysis. Results: amongst studied ingredients, BEP or DEHP, that have been found to be carcinogenic, had highest concentration in beverages, and also the brand of A and taste of C had the highest average concentration. Except one sample, the total amounts of these ingredients were below than international standards. Conclusion: Based on the results, consumers can use these beverages without any concern regarding phthalate esters amounts. The results also demonstrated that this synthesized adsorbent has good performance for extraction of phthalates from studied matrices.

A sensitive and reliable method for determination of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in grilled meat samples was developed and validated. The method is based on magnetic solid phase extraction (MSPE) and GC-MS analysis. Magnetic carbon nanotubes (MCNTs) which have excellent adsorption capabilities, were used as adsorbent to extract PAHs, an important class of carcinogens, from meat samples. To obtain the best extraction yields, the influencing factors, including primary extraction conditions, the amount of adsorbent, adsorption and desorption time, salt addition and desorption solvent were investigated in detail. Under optimized conditions, the LODs and LOQs achieved were in the range of 0.035-0.100 and 0.075-0.200 µg Kg(-1) respectively. The calibration curves were linear (r(2) ≥ 0.988) over the concentration ranges from 0.100 µg Kg(-1) to 250 µg Kg(-1) The relative standard deviations (RSDs) obtained by carrying out intra- and inter-day precision studies were less than 13.7% and 13.9%, respectively which confirms reproducibility of the method. In addition, the recoveries of analyzed PAHs ranged from 81.3% to 96.7% with the RSDs less than 12.7 %. Finally, the established MSPE-GC-MS method was successfully applied to determine PAHs in charcoal grilled/barbecued meat samples. benzo[a]anthracene, benzo[b]fluoranthene, Benzo[a]pyrene and chrysene were detected in beef, lamb and chicken meat samples with the mean cumulative concentration of 4.000, 3.414 and 0.931 µg Kg(-1) respectively. Taken together, the MSPE-GC-MS method developed in current study provides a new option for the determination of PAHs in grilled/barbecued meat samples.
