Abstract Background The healthcare system in India is tiered and has primary, secondary and tertiary levels of facilities depending on the complexity and severity of health challenges at these facilities. Evidence suggests that emergency services in the country is fragmented. This study aims to identify the barriers and facilitators of emergency care delivery for patients with time-sensitive conditions, and develop and implement a contextually relevant model, and measure its impact using implementation research outcomes. Methods We will study 85 healthcare facilities across five zones of the country and focus on emergency care delivery for 11 time-sensitive conditions. This implementation research will include seven phases: the preparatory phase, formative assessment, co-design of Model “Zero”, co-implementation, model optimization, end-line evaluation and consolidation phase. The “preparatory phase” will involve stakeholder meetings, approval from health authorities and the establishment of a research ecosystem. The “formative assessment” will include quantitative and qualitative evaluations of the existing healthcare facilities and personnel to identify gaps, barriers and facilitators of emergency care services for time-sensitive conditions. On the basis of the results of the formative assessment, context-specific implementation strategies will be developed through meetings with stakeholders, providers and experts. The “co-design of Model ‘Zero’” phase will help develop the initial Model “Zero”, which will be pilot tested on a small scale (co-implementation). In the “model optimization” phase, iterative feedback loops of meetings and testing various strategies will help develop and implement the final context-specific model. End-line evaluation will assess implementation research outcomes such as acceptability, adoption, fidelity and penetration. The consolidation phase will include planning for the sustenance of the interventions. Discussion In a country such as India, where resources are scarce, this study will identify the barriers and facilitators to delivering emergency care services for time-sensitive conditions across five varied zones of the country. Stakeholder and provider participation in developing consensus-based implementation strategies, along with iterative cycles of meetings and testing, will help adapt these strategies to local needs. This approach will ensure that the developed models are practical, feasible and tailored to the specific challenges and requirements of each region.

Abstract Introduction Reducing childhood mortality by curtailing the incidence of vaccine preventable diseases is contingent upon a robust and high-performing routine immunization system. According to the available data, the full immunization coverage (FIC) in the state of Bihar (India) has reached ~ 71%. While the government aspires to reach 90% FIC, a systematic evidence-based investigation of the reasons behind underimmunization as well as the identification of drivers and enablers to reach and sustain 90% FIC is critical. This study aimed to review the factors leading to underimmunized children in the state of Bihar and develop a forward-looking roadmap to reach and sustain 90% FIC by adopting a system strengthening approach. Method We conducted a desk review, followed by extensive stakeholder interviews and field visits to document and analyze the data and evidence relevant to routine immunization system performance in the state of Bihar. The stakeholders included the State Immunization Officer, District Immunization Officers, Block-level health officials, representatives from development agencies, healthcare workers, and caregivers. A total of eighty-six structured interviews were conducted, which included qualitative and quantitative parameters. Result While positive results were observed from the assessment of Bihar’s immunization system, the implementation of targeted strategies for supply, service delivery and demand can provide a means to achieve FIC of 90%. The roadmap developed by the Government of Bihar enlists 40 + interventions across key thematic areas and has been prioritized over a 5-year time horizon as short, medium, and long-term milestones to achieve 90% FIC. These interventions include strengthening the data availability and quality, improving the governance and review mechanism, augmenting the capacity of health workers involve with immunization programme, and initiatives to increase demand for immunization services. Conclusion The Bihar’s Immunization Roadmap development project work follows a methodical approach to assess and identify intervention to improve immunization coverage and can provide information and reference to other states and countries that are aiming to formulate similar action plans.

Abstract Breeding high yielding groundnut cultivars with 2–3 weeks of fresh seed dormancy, particularly in Spanish-type cultivars, enhances the sustainability of agriculture in groundnuts. In this context, we conducted a comprehensive phenotypic and genotypic evaluation of advanced breeding lines developed in the genetic background of Spanish types. By employing multi-phenotyping and marker data, we identified PBS 15044, 16004, 16013, 16015, 16016, 16017, 16020, 16021, 16026, 16031, 16035, 16037, 16038, 16039, 16041, and 16042 with 2–3 weeks dormancy (> 90%).The various parametric and non-parametric estimates identified the stable fresh dormant genotypes with one or more superior economic trait. PBS 16021, 15044, 16038, and 16039 identified with high hundred pod weight (HPW) were also reported having high intensity of dormancy (> 90% for up to 3 weeks); PBS 15044, 16016, PBS 16038 and PBS 16039 with high hundred kernel weight (HKW) also reported with up to 3 weeks fresh seed dormancy; and PBS 16013, 16031, and 16038 with up to 3 weeks fresh seed dormancy had high shelling percentage (SP). They can be used to develop lines with the desired level of dormancy, and high yields, by designing appropriate breeding strategies.

Abstract Background The high prevalence of osteoporosis has increased the economic burden on the health system globally. The burden of osteoporosis and its associated factors have not been adequately assessed in community settings in the Nepalese context thus far. Therefore, this study aimed to assess the prevalence of osteoporosis and its associated factors, lifestyle behaviors, and dietary calcium intake. Methods A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted among 395 people aged 50 years and older in the Madhesh Province of Nepal between July 2022 and August 2023. The Osteoporosis Self-assessment Tools for Asians (OSTA) index was used to measure osteoporosis. A structured questionnaire was used to collect sociodemographic information, anthropometric data, lifestyle behavior, daily dietary calcium intake, and frequency of calcium-rich food consumption. A food frequency questionnaire and 24-hour recall methods were used to assess dietary intake. The chi-square test, binary logistic regression and Mann‒Whitney U test were applied to measure the association between predictors and the outcome of interest. Abstract Despite progress in reducing the infant mortality in India, the neonatal mortality decline has been slower, necessitating concerted efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goal-3. A promising strategy aiming to prevent neonatal sepsis in high-risk, vulnerable, low birth weight neonates through an innovative intervention includes probiotic supplementation. This article communicates the decision by the ProSPoNS trial investigators to establish a Central Endpoint Adjudication Committee (CEAC) as an addendum to the protocol published in Trials in 2021 for the purpose of clarifying the primary outcome. In the published protocol, the study hypothesis and primary objective are based on “sepsis,” the primary outcome has been specified as sepsis/PSBI, whereas the sample size estimation was performed based on the “physician diagnosed sepsis.” To align all the three above, the investigators meeting, held on 17th–18th August 2023, at MGIMS Sevagram, Wardha, deliberated and unanimously agreed that “physician diagnosed sepsis” is the primary study outcome which includes sepsis/PSBI. The CEAC, chaired by an external subject expert and members including trial statistician, a microbiologist, and all site principal investigators will employ four criteria to determine “physician diagnosed sepsis”: (1) blood culture status, (2) sepsis screen status, (3) PSBI/non-PSBI signs and symptoms, and (4) the clinical course for each sickness event. Importantly, this clarification maintains consistency with the approved study protocol (Protocol No. 5/7/915/2012 version 3.1 dated 14 Feb 2020), emphasizing the commitment to methodological transparency and adherence to predefined standards. The decision to utilize the guidance of a CEAC is recommended as the gold standard in multicentric complex clinical trials to achieve consistency and accuracy in assessment of outcomes. Context: Internet addiction (IA) is a rising issue, particularly among university students. The presence of comorbid psychiatric distress can worsen the impact of IA on academic and social functioning. Alexithymia, difficulty recognizing and expressing emotions may play a role in this relationship. Aims: This study aimed to assess the severity and association of IA, psychological distress, and alexithymia among undergraduate medical students in India. Settings and Design: This was a cross-sectional study of 380 undergraduate medical students following convenience sampling, studying in Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMCRI), Mysuru. Subjects and Methods: Sociodemographic details were collected, and participants completed the Young's Internet Addiction Test (IAT-20), Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21), and Toronto Alexithymia Scale-20 (TAS-20). Background: Health-care workers (HCWs) in India have been heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, facing significant psychological distress due to their challenging work, exposure to the virus, and isolation. This study examines the emotional states and coping strategies of HCWs and the potential effects of religious coping mechanisms on their mental health. Aim: To explore the emotional state, coping strategies, and impact of religious beliefs on the mental health of junior doctors in a COVID-19-designated tertiary care hospital in Mysore. Methods: The cross-sectional survey-based observational study included residents and house surgeons working in COVID-19 wards. Sociodemographic data along with their emotional state and coping strategies were assessed using Depression, Anxiety, and Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21), Brief COPE Inventory, and the Brief Religion COPE. Chi-square test and Pearson’s correlation were used to evaluate the relationship between variables. Results: Majority (57.2%) of the participants were between 21 and 25 years and of male gender (61.6%), with Hinduism being the most prevalent religious affiliation (88.4%). Most (71.7%) tested positive for COVID-19. A significant prevalence of stress, anxiety, and depression among HCWs. Significant associations were found between stress, anxiety, and factors such as living alone, working in emergency care, substance use, and associations between religious coping and emotional status. Conclusion: The study highlighted the psychological distress faced by HCWs during the COVID-19 pandemic and proposes that religious coping techniques may help their mental health amid emergencies. Promoting an integrated strategy that incorporates psychological and religious coping mechanisms may improve health-care personnel’s overall resilience and mental well-being in the face of future challenges.

Schwannomas are common benign tumours arising from the myelin sheath of peripheral nerves. These tumours are usually located in the intradural and extramedullary regions. The common sites are cervical (58%) and thoracic region (32%), followed by the lumbar region (10%). Intramedullary location is rare and if present, is usually associated with neurofibromatosis 1 and 2 (NF-1 and 2). Intramedullary brainstem schwannomas without NF are uncommon, and to the best of the authors’ knowledge, only 19 cases have been reported to date. It was first described by James Watson Kernohan, an Irish-American pathologist, in 1931. The rarity of these tumours in this location is due to the absence of Schwann cells in this area. There are several hypotheses postulating the presence of these tumours in this location. The exact cause is not yet known. The authors here present a case of intramedullary brainstem ancient schwannoma with an unusual clinicoradiological presentation, which raised suspicion of Glioma with the possibility of Astrocytoma. The patient presented with right-sided neck stiffness and shoulder pain for a period of four months. Total excision of the tumour was performed, and the postoperative period was uneventful with clinical improvement in the patient. Histomorphology raised the suspicion of a tumour of glial origin with the possibility of Astrocytoma; Immunohistochemistry (IHC) helped in reaching the definitive diagnosis of Ancient Schwannoma. Thus, a combined approach of clinicoradiological, as well as histomorphology and IHC, is essential for a definitive diagnosis of these tumours. Future multicentric studies are required to elucidate the pathogenesis of the location of these tumours.

Owing to unpredicted power demand, integration of distributed generators and parametric disparity in the system cause the power system more intricacy which in turn affects the frequency and power fluctuation critically. To mitigate these phenomena, an intelligent and efficient automatic generation control (AGC) is indispensable. Therefore, in this paper, an intelligent and robust controller named fuzzy sliding mode controller (FSMC) has been recommended to tackle the AGC problem in a deregulated power system in the presence of distributed generators effectively. Again, to manifest its dominance over SMC, fuzzy-PID and PID controllers, dynamic response of the deregulated system under Poolco, Bilateral and Contract violation conditions has been evaluated and compared. Further, to support the FSMC controller’s ability, another test model has been taken for the AGC study. The gains of these controllers have been enumerated by Gannet Optimization Algorithm (GOA) subjecting to a minimization problem. Exploration phase of GOA involves two steps, namely U- & V-shaped diving patterns of Gannets and exploitation phase again involves two steps namely sudden rotation and random walk of Gannets. These four steps ensures quick convergence of the objective function to its optimal value. Apart from transient response under different power transaction conditions, parametric uncertainties of the system, solar and wind power variation and abrupt load change have been considered to support the robustness & credibility of FSMC controller. In addition to this, the stability of the proposed model has been analyzed in the frequency domain. Finally, the MATLAB/SIMULINK based transient response has been validated by a real-time simulator using OPAL-RT-4510, Xilinx Kintex-7 FPGA software.

Abstract Cassava root rot disease caused by the fungal pathogens Fusarium solani and Lasiodiplodia theobromae produces severe damages on cassava production. This research was conducted to produce and assess silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) synthesized by Trichoderma harzianum for reducing root rot disease. The results revealed that using the supernatants of T. harzianum on a silver nitrate solution changed it to reddish color at 48 h, indicating the formation of AgNPs. Further characterization was identified using dynamic light scattering (DLS) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). DLS supported that the Z-average size is at 39.79 nm and the mean zeta potential is at − 36.5 mV. SEM revealed the formation of monodispersed spherical shape with a diameter between 60–75 nm. The antibacterial action of AgNPs as an antifungal agent was demonstrated by an observed decrease in the size of the fungal colonies using an increasing concentration of AgNPs until the complete inhibition growth of L. theobromae and F. solani at > 58 µg mL−1 and at ≥ 50 µg mL−1, respectively. At in vitro conditions, the applied AgNPs caused a decrease in the percentage of healthy aerial hyphae of L. theobromae (32.5%) and of F. solani (70.0%) compared to control (100%). The SR-FTIR spectra showed the highest peaks in the first region (3000–2800 cm−1) associated with lipids and fatty acids located at 2962, 2927, and 2854 cm−1 in the AgNPs treated samples. The second region (1700–1450 cm−1) consisting of proteins and peptides revealed the highest peaks at 1658, 1641, and 1548 cm−1 in the AgNPs treated samples. The third region (1300–900 cm−1), which involves nucleic acid, phospholipids, polysaccharides, and carbohydrates, revealed the highest peaks at 1155, 1079, and 1027 cm−1 in the readings from the untreated samples. Finally, the observed root rot severity on cassava roots treated with AgNPs (1.75 ± 0.50) was significantly lower than the control samples (5.00 ± 0.00).

Introduction: Patients with degenerative lumbar spine disorders experience Chronic Low Back Pain (CLBP) for which they undergo decompressive surgery. Substance P (SP), a neurotransmitter which acts as a modulator of pain perception and transmits nociceptive signals via primary afferent fibers to the spinal cord and brainstem. In chronic painful conditions, SP level can be associated with the severity of pain and gets altered; however, this correlation is not present in acute pain. Aim: To evaluate serum SP level in CLBP patients undergoing decompressive spine surgery. Materials and Methods: The present study was a prospective observational study, in which 30 patients with CLBP undergoing decompressive spine surgery were enrolled. Along with them, one first-degree relative of each patient and an equal number of healthy volunteers were included in the study group. Patients were followed-up on the 5th postoperative day and at two months after surgery for the evaluation of SP levels and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) scores. Statistical data analysis was carried out using IBM PASW Statistics (SPSS) 25.0 version software. SP levels followed a non normal distribution and were compared by Mann-Whitney U or Kruskal Wallis test (for 2 or more groups, respectively) and correlated using Spearman rank correlation. Plant-mediated synthesis of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) is an eco-friendly and convenient alternative to conventional methods. Brassaiopsis hainla (B. hainla) leaf extract (BHE) was used in this study to reduce metal salts and cap and stabilize nanoparticles (NPs), which were characterized and tested for antibacterial and anti-corrosion properties. Stirring the B. hainla extract with AgNO3 led to a color change, indicating nanoparticle formation. The absorption peak at 428 nm in the UV–visible spectrum further validated its formation. The AgNPs were characterized using various techniques such as FTIR, UV–visible, PXRD, HRTEM, SEM, and EDX. Powder X-ray diffraction analysis confirmed its nanocrystalline nature, with an average crystallite size of 17.92 nm. The FTIR spectrum showed hydroxyl, amine, amide, and carbonyl groups as capping and reducing agents for the AgNPs. SEM analysis revealed poly-dispersed NPs of various sizes, while EDX showed an intense peak for Ag, and TEM images revealed mostly hexagonal and triangular NPs. Antibacterial activity was tested against three human pathogens: Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus), Pseudomonas, and Klebsiella oxytoca (K. oxytoca). Significant antibacterial activity was observed specifically against K. oxytoca, with an 11 mm inhibition zone. Both plant extracts and AgNPs inhibited acid-induced corrosion, with the highest inhibition efficiencies of 81.69 % and 69.54 % at 1000 ppm, respectively. With rising concerns over bacterial resistance and metal corrosion, this study addresses global challenges related to new antimicrobial agents, which are crucial for combating antibiotic resistance and protecting metals in various industries.

Summary: Delta (B.1.617.2) and Omicron (B.1.1.529) variants of SARS-CoV-2 represents unique clinical characteristics. However, their role in altering immunometabolic regulations during acute infection remains convoluted. Here, we evaluated the differential immunopathogenesis of Delta vs. Omicron variants in Golden Syrian hamsters (GSH). The Delta variant resulted in higher virus titers in throat swabs and the lungs and exhibited higher lung damage with immune cell infiltration than the Omicron variant. The gene expression levels of immune mediators and metabolic enzymes, Arg-1 and IDO1 in the Delta-infected lungs were significantly higher compared to Omicron. Further, Delta/Omicron infection perturbed carbohydrates, amino acids, nucleotides, and TCA cycle metabolites and was differentially regulated compared to uninfected lungs. Collectively, our data provide a novel insight into immunometabolic/pathogenic outcomes for Delta vs. Omicron infection in the GSH displaying concordance with COVID-19 patients associated with inflammation and tissue injury during acute infection that offered possible new targets to develop potential therapeutics.

Abstract The global market has a high demand for premium edible grade groundnut, particularly for table use. India, in particular, exhibits significant potential for exporting confectionary grade large seeded groundnut. The environment plays a significant impact in influencing the expression of seed traits, which subsequently affects the confectionary quality of groundnut genotypes. The states of Gujarat and Rajasthan in India are prominent producers of high-quality groundnuts specifically used for confectionary purposes. The current study was conducted with 43 confectionery groundnut genotypes at Junagadh, Gujarat, and Bikaner, Rajasthan, with the goals of understanding genotype-by-environment interaction (GEI) effects and identifying stable, high yielding confectionery quality groundnut genotypes using AMMI and GGE biplot models. Pod yield per plant (PYP), number of pods per plant (NPP), hundred kernel weight (HKW), and shelling percent (SP) were estimated. The interplay between the environment and genotype has had a notable impact on the manifestation of confectionary grade characteristics in peanuts. The results from the Interaction Principal Component Analysis (IPCA) indicate that HKW contributed 76.68% and 18.95% towards the Global Environmental Index (GEI) through IPCA1 and IPCA2, respectively. Similarly, NPP contributed 87.52% and 8.65%, PYP contributed 95.87% and 2.1%, and SP contributed 77.4% and 16.22% towards GEI through IPCA1 and IPCA2, respectively. Based on the ranking of genotypes, the ideal genotypes were PBS 29079B for HKW, PBS 29230 for NPP. The genotypes PBS 29233 and PBS 29230 exhibited superior performance and stability in terms of pod yield, hundred kernel weight, number of pods per plant, and shelling percentage across various sites. These breeding lines have the potential to be developed for the purpose of producing confectionary grade groundnut with larger seeds, in order to fulfil the growing demand for export.

Background: Hemorrhoids have a much higher incidence than rectum and colon diseases worldwide. The prevalence was estimated to be between 2.9% and 27.9% among the worldwide population, of which 4% are symptomatic. Based on the Gauss method, the highest incidence was present in patients aged between 45 and 65 years. Aims and Objectives: To compare laser hemorrhoidoplasty with digital-guided hemorrhoidal artery ligation (DGHAL) and conventional (Milligan-Morgan) open hemorrhoidectomy procedures. Materials and Methods: A prospective follow-up study was undertaken in the Department of Surgery, Maharani Laxmi Bai Medical College, Jhansi, from January 2020 to June 2021. In this comparative and prospective study, 60 patients were included, of whom 30 were treated with open surgical hemorrrhoidectomy (Milligan-Morgan) and 30 were treated with laser hemorrhoidoplasty with the DGHAL method. Results: Male patients numbered 41 and female patients numbered 19. Between laser hemorrhoidoplasty with DGHAL and the open surgical hemorrrhoidectomy (Milligan-Morgan) approach, there were significant differences in operating time, blood loss, bleeding; and early postoperative pain. The traditional bundle relaying scheme rarely utilizes the impact of selfish nodes in Vehicular Delay Tolerant Networks (VDTNs) that may not be able to transmit messages to other nodes because of limited resources in the road transport system. Here the Railway Transport System (RTS) is used to transfer the data from one end to another end into the network. In RTS, the proposed approach utilizes stationary nodes deployed along the railway tracks (usually at railway stations) with a large memory size, known as Track Side Units (TSUs), and mobile nodes which are trains equipped with devices having large buffer capacity and message relaying capability. In this paper, the VDTN scenario is developed using RTS in which all nodes have high buffer capacity and power availability hence storage and transfer of message bundles will be done through all nodes. Further, this paper proposed a novel model for transmitting data in VDTN environment using an Efficient Deterministic Bundle Relaying Scheme with Bulk Bundle Release (DBRS-BBR). To validate this, a mathematical model of queuing processes, M/G/1: FIFO/ $\infty /\infty $ , is applied at the TSUs and mobile units, and a Deterministic Scheduling technique is applied for relaying the bundles. To evaluate the proposed DBRS-BBR scheme, different performance measures are used, including Mean Queueing Delay, Mean Transit Delay, and Mean End-To-End Delay. This proposed scheme has the potential to improve message bundle transmission in remote areas and it outperforms the existing Probabilistic Bundle Relaying Scheme with Bulk Bundle Release (PBRS-BBR) in terms of various performance measures.

In the western arid regions, where monsoon seasons often include regular and extended dry spells, agricultural practices need to be tailored to these challenging conditions. This research aimed to understand the effects of foliar urea application and different irrigation scheduling on crop productivity, profitability, and quality in arid region, and was conducted over two consecutive Kharif seasons of 2020 and 2021. The use of 2% urea at flowering + pod formation stages resulted in a notable improvement in yield parameters, number, weight, and buildup of dry matter. Improvement in these parameters led to significantly higher moth bean yield, by a margin of 20 – 22% as compared to other treatments. On the basis of pooled mean of two years, foliar spray of 2% urea at flowering + pod formation stages improved the protein content by 6 to 7%, protein productivity by 27–31%, physical water productivity by ∼20% and net monetary returns by 31–34% as compared to single foliar application. Similarly, irrigation at branching + pod formation stages registered higher growth parameters, grain yield (8%), profitability (13%), nutrient uptake, and residual soil fertility in moth bean as compared to other irrigation treatments. In conclusion, it is recommended that the application of urea (2%) by foliar spray at the flowering + pod formation stages and the modification of irrigation to the branching stage + pod formation stage, from the existing recommendation (flowering + pod formation), were more profitable and productive during early, prolonged dry spells with high temperatures, which are more typical in western dry regions for moth beans. Notably, it assists in fulfilling the protein needs of the vegetarian populace of western Rajasthan, India, where moth beans play a vital role in the diet.

Abstract Cancer, being the most formidable ailment, has had a profound impact on the human health. The disease is primarily associated with genetic mutations that impact oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes (TSGs). Recently, growing evidence have shown that X‐linked TSGs have specific role in cancer progression and metastasis as well. Interestingly, our genome harbors around substantial portion of genes that function as tumor suppressors, and the X chromosome alone harbors a considerable number of TSGs. The scenario becomes even more compelling as X‐linked TSGs are adaptive to key epigenetic processes such as X chromosome inactivation. Therefore, delineating the new paradigm related to X‐linked TSGs, for instance, their crosstalk with autosome and involvement in cancer initiation, progression, and metastasis becomes utmost importance. Considering this, herein, we present a comprehensive discussion of X‐linked TSG dysregulation in various cancers as a consequence of genetic variations and epigenetic alterations. In addition, the dynamic role of X‐linked TSGs in sex chromosome–autosome crosstalk in cancer genome remodeling is being explored thoroughly. Besides, the functional roles of ncRNAs, role of X‐linked TSG in immunomodulation and in gender‐based cancer disparities has also been highlighted. Overall, the focal idea of the present article is to recapitulate the findings on X‐linked TSG regulation in the cancer landscape and to redefine their role toward improving cancer treatment strategies.

A field experiment was conducted during the rainy (kharif) seasons of 2019 and 2020 at ICAR-Indian Institute of Pulses Research, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh to study the impact of soil inorganic phosphorus fractions and enzyme activity in different urdbean [Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper] cultivars. Experiment was conducted in a randomized block design (RBD) with 4 replications with two urdbean cultivars, viz. IPU-2-43 and Uttara. Experimental results suggest, higher sol-P content (6 and 14% in 2019 and 2020, respectively) under Uttara than IPU 2-43 under low P-plots whereas, no prominent change of the same was recorded under normal P-plots. Similar to sol-P, the content of Ca2-P has jumped significantly in Uttara than IPU 2-43. However, Uttara recorded higher acid and alkaline phosphatase activity as compared to IPU 2-43. In low-P plots the activity of acid phosphatase was higher by 12% (2019) and 10% (2020) in case of Uttara than IPU 2-43. Under low P soils the productivity of Uttara was significantly higher (~12% and ~9% in 2019 and 2020, respectively) than IPU 2-43. Therefore, based on the findings it can be said that with higher soluble P and productivity, the performance of Uttara was better over IPU 2-43 under low-P condition.

IntroductionDurian is one of the tropical fruits that requires soil nutrients in its cultivation. It is important to understand the relationship between the content of critical nutrients, such as nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) in the soil and durian yield. How to optimize the fertilization plan is also important to the durian planting.MethodsThus, this study proposes an Improved Radial Basis Neural Network Algorithm (IM-RBNNA) in the durian precision fertilization. It uses the gray wolf algorithm to optimize the weights and thresholds of the RBNNA algorithm, which can improve the prediction accuracy of the RBNNA algorithm for the soil nutrient content and its relationship with the durian yield. It also collects the soil nutrients and historical yield data to build the IM-RBNNA model and compare with other similar algorithms.ResultsThe results show that the IM-RBNNA algorithm is better than the other three algorithms in the average relative error, average absolute error, and coefficient of determination between the predicted and true values of soil N, K, and P fertilizer contents. It also predicts the relationship between soil nutrients and yield, which is closer to the true value.DiscussionIt shows that the IM-RBNNA algorithm can accurately predict the durian soil nutrient content and yield, which is benefited for farmers to make agronomic plans and management strategies. It uses soil nutrient resources efficiently, which reduces the environmental negative impacts. It also ensures that the durian tree can obtain the appropriate amount of nutrients, maximize its growth potential, reduce production costs, and increase yields.

Tomato leaf curl New Delhi virus (TolCNDV) causes yellow mosaic disease, which poses a significant biotic constraint for sponge gourd cultivation, potentially resulting in crop loss of up to 100%. In the present investigation, 50 diverse genotypes were screened for 3 years under natural epiphytotic conditions. A subset of 20 genotypes was further evaluated across four different environments. The combined analysis of variance revealed a significant genotype × environment interaction. Eight genotypes consistently exhibited high and stable resistance in the preliminary screening and multi-environment testing. Furthermore, genotype plus genotype × environment interaction biplot analysis identified DSG-29 (G-3), DSG-7 (G-2), DSG-6 (G-1), and DSGVRL-18 (G-6) as the desirable genotypes, which have stable resistance and better yield potential even under diseased conditions. The genotype by yield × trait biplot analysis and multi-trait genotype–ideotype distance index analysis further validated the potential of these genotypes for combining higher yield and other desirable traits with higher resistance levels. Additionally, resistant genotypes exhibited higher activities of defense-related enzymes as compared to susceptible genotypes. Thus, genotypes identified in our study will serve as a valuable genetic resource for carrying out future resistance breeding programs in sponge gourd against ToLCNDV.

IntroductionChikungunya virus (CHIKV) infection is associated with acute clinical manifestations and chronic joint inflammation. CHIKV has emerged as a significant causative agent of central nervous system (CNS) complications, including encephalitis and related sequelae. Microglial cells, crucial for immune responses and tissue repair in the CNS, play a vital role in the host response to viral infections, with their activation potentially leading to either protection or pathology. In this study, the infection biology of CHIKV in the C20 human microglial cell line was investigated.MethodsThe permissiveness of C20 cells to CHIKV infection was assessed, and viral replication kinetics were compared to Vero E6 cells. Cytopathic effects of CHIKV infection on C20 cells were examined, along with ultrastructural changes using transmission electron microscopy. Additionally, apoptosis induction, mitochondrial membrane potential, and alterations in cell surface marker expression were evaluated by flow cytometry.ResultsCHIKV infection demonstrated permissiveness in C20 cells, similar to Vero cells, resulting in robust viral replication and cytopathic effects. Ultrastructural analysis revealed viral replication, mature virion formation, and distinctive cytoplasmic and nuclear changes in infected C20 cells. CHIKV infection induced significant apoptosis in C20 cells, accompanied by mitochondrial membrane depolarization and altered expression of cell surface markers such as CD11c, CD14, and HLA-DR. Notably, decreased CD14 expression was observed in CHIKV-infected C20 cells.DiscussionThe study findings suggest that CHIKV infection induces apoptosis in C20 microglial cells via the mitochondrial pathway, with significant alterations in cell surface marker expression, particularly CD14 that is linked with apoptosis induction. These observations provide valuable insights into the role of human microglial cells in the host response to CHIKV infection and contribute to the knowledge on the neuropathogenesis of this virus.

The unpredictability of crop yield due to severe weather events such as drought and extreme heat continues to be a key worry. The present study evaluated six meteorological and three Landsat satellite-based vegetation drought indices from 1986 to 2019 in the drought-prone-semi-arid Saurashtra region of Gujarat (India). Cotton and groundnut crop yield prediction models were developed using multiple linear regression (MLR), artificial neural network with MLP, and random forest (RF). The models performed crop yield estimation at two timescales, i.e., 75 days after sowing and 105 days after sowing. The standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index/reconnaissance drought index among meteorological drought indices, normalized difference vegetation anomaly index/vegetation condition index, and normalized difference water index anomaly were chosen as best highest correlations with crop yields. The RF-based models were found most efficient in predicting the cotton and groundnut yield of Saurashtra with R2 ranging from 0.77 to 0.92, Nash–Sutcliffe efficiency ranging from 71 to 90%, and root-mean-square error ranging from 80 to 133 kg/ha for cotton and 299 to 453 kg/ha for groundnut. This study demonstrated the method for making several decisions based on early crop yield prediction including timely drought mitigation measures. HIGHLIGHTS Standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index/reconnaissance drought index and remote sensing-based indices were chosen as model inputs.; Multiple linear regression, artificial neural network–multilayer perception, and random forest techniques were employed for model development.; Random forest-based models efficiently predicted early crop yield of cotton and groundnut with R2 ranging from 0.77 to 0.92.; The study established a method to enable better agricultural drought monitoring, mitigation, and early crop yield prediction.;

An adaptive control approach for a three-phase grid-interfaced solar photovoltaic system based on the new Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System with Rain Optimization Algorithm (ANROA) methodology is proposed and discussed in this manuscript. This method incorporates an Adaptive Neuro-fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) with a Rain Optimization Algorithm (ROA). The ANFIS controller has excellent maximum tracking capability because it includes features of both neural and fuzzy techniques. The ROA technique is in charge of controlling the voltage source converter switching. Avoiding power quality problems including voltage fluctuations, harmonics, and flickers as well as unbalanced loads and reactive power usage is the major goal. Besides, the proposed method performs at zero voltage regulation and unity power factor modes. The suggested control approach has been modeled and simulated, and its performance has been assessed using existing alternative methods. A statistical analysis of proposed and existing techniques has been also presented and discussed. The results of the simulations demonstrate that, when compared to alternative approaches, the suggested strategy may properly and effectively identify the best global solutions. Furthermore, the system’s robustness has been studied by using MATLAB/SIMULINK environment and experimentally by Field Programmable Gate Arrays Controller (FPGA)-based Hardware-in-Loop (HLL).

Abstract The interaction of tyramine neurotransmitter with silver nano-particle (Ag6) cluster is explored in terms of the molecular structure, electronic properties and NBO analysis of tyramine-AgNPs bio-molecular conjugate. The adsorption mechanism of tyramine onto the Ag6 cluster has been investigated through computing of the electronic and geometrical properties in addition to the adsorption energies in various possible configurations. The magnitude of adsorption energy corresponding to the most favorable tyramine-Ag6 bio-molecular conjugate has been computed to be − 14.36 kcal/mol in the gas phase, which infers a good adsorption of tyramine with AgNPs cluster suggesting the practical applications of tyramine-AgNPs bio-molecular conjugates in bio-sensing, drug delivery, bio-imaging and other applications. Different electronic properties such as the energy gap of HOMO–LUMO, Fermi level and work function have been investigated in detail. Moreover, the effect of aqueous media on adsorption energy and electronic properties of the most favorable tyramine-AgNPs bio-molecular conjugate is investigated in order to understand the impact of the real biological situation.

This study was undertaken to address how near-surface soil water content (SWC) patterns have varied across diverse agroecological regions (AERs) of mainland India from 1979 to 2022 (44 years) and how these variations relate to environmental factors. Grid-wise trend analysis using the Mann–Kendall (MK) trend test and Sen’s slope was conducted to determine the trends and their magnitudes. Additionally, we used Spearman’s rank correlation (ρ) to explore the relationships of ESA CCI’s near-surface SWC data with key environmental variables, including rainfall, temperature, actual evapotranspiration, and the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI). The results revealed significant variations in SWC patterns and trends across different AERs and months. The MK trend test indicated that 17.96% of the area exhibited a significantly increasing trend (p < 0.1), while7.6% showed a significantly decreasing trend, with an average annual Sen’s slope of 0.9 × 10−4 m3 m−3 year−1 for mainland India. Areas with the highest decreasing trends were AER-16 (warm per-humid with brown and red hill soils), AER-15 (hot subhumid to humid with alluvium-derived soils), and AER-17 (warm per-humid with red and lateritic soils). In contrast, increasing trends were the most prominent in AER-5 (hot semi-arid with medium and deep black soils), AER-6 (hot semi-arid with shallow and medium black soils), and AER-19 (hot humid per-humid with red, lateritic, and alluvium-derived soils). Significant increasing trends were more prevalent during monsoon and post-monsoon months while decreasing trends were noted in pre-monsoon months. Correlation analysis showed strong positive correlations of SWC with rainfall (ρ = 0.70), actual evapotranspiration (ρ = 0.74), and NDVI (ρ = 0.65), but weak or negative correlations with temperature (ρ = 0.12). This study provides valuable insights for policymakers to delineate areas based on soil moisture availability patterns across seasons, aiding in agricultural and water resource planning under changing climatic conditions.

The gastrointestinal (GI) tract, home to the largest microbial population in the human body, plays a crucial role in overall health through various mechanisms. Recent advancements in research have revealed the potential implications of gut-brain and vice-versa communication mediated by gut-microbiota and their microbial products in various diseases including type-2 diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). AD is the most common type of dementia where most of cases are sporadic with no clearly identified cause. However, multiple factors are implicated in the progression of sporadic AD which can be classified as non-modifiable (e.g., genetic) and modifiable (e.g. Type-2 diabetes, diet etc.). Present review focusses on key players particularly the modifiable factors such as Type-2 diabetes (T2D) and diet and their implications in microbiota-gut-brain (MGB) and brain-gut (BG) communication and cognitive functions of healthy brain and their dysfunction in Alzheimer’s Disease. Special emphasis has been given on elucidation of the mechanistic aspects of the impact of diet on gut-microbiota and the implications of some of the gut-microbial products in T2D and AD pathology. For example, mechanistically, HFD induces gut dysbiosis with driven metabolites that in turn cause loss of integrity of intestinal barrier with concomitant colonic and systemic chronic low-grade inflammation, associated with obesity and T2D. HFD-induced obesity and T2D parallel neuroinflammation, deposition of Amyloid β (Aβ), and ultimately cognitive impairment. The review also provides a new perspective of the impact of diet on brain-gut and microbiota-gut-brain communication in terms of transcription factors as a commonly spoken language that may facilitates the interaction between gut and brain of obese diabetic patients who are at a higher risk of developing cognitive impairment and AD. Other commonality such as tyrosine kinase expression and functions maintaining intestinal integrity on one hand and the phagocytic clarence by migratory microglial functions in brain are also discussed. Lastly, the characterization of the key players future research that might shed lights on novel potential pharmacological target to impede AD progression are also discussed.

Years of chemical-intensive agricultural practices following the Green Revolution in the late 1960s have led to extensive soil degradation in India. This has implications for food security, farmers’ incomes, and the country's economy. However, domestic top-down policy mandates in recent times have favoured practices like natural farming with a view to slow down and eventually halt soil degradation. This is in line with the international Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), one of which is focused on restoring degraded lands (SDG 15.3 aims to strive achieve land degradation neutrality). Taking cue from recent policy mandates on soil and land, this chapter posits the historical significance of the Panchayat — a village-level administrative institution in India — and argues for its involvement in policy implementation for soil rehabilitation at the village level, The article also makes a case for the introduction of an overarching National Soil Policy to encourage natural farming practices and biofertilizer use.

Hereditary angioedema (HAE) is a rare but often life-threatening genetic disorder caused by either lack of or dysfunctional C1-esterase inhibitor (C1-I3NH). C1-INH is a high-cost therapy for HAE. Because plasma-derived C1-INH has a higher half-life than other therapeutics, it may be considered a suitable treatment option for HAE. However, the high cost of plasma-derived C1-INH may make the therapy unaffordable to some patients. Herein, we review the C1-INH purification processes used to date to identify the reasons for the high costs of this therapy and assess the scope of improvements in the purification processes to develop a cost-effective product. A literature search was conducted in PubMed and Google Scholar in January 2023 to identify the relevant articles. The following keywords were used: “C1 esterase inhibitor,” “hereditary angioedema,” and “C1 esterase inhibitor purification from human plasma.” All English-language articles published from 1960 to February 2021 were included. Several plasma products can be purified using the Cohn fractionation process; this decreases the cost of individual products. However, many C1-INH purification strategies developed to date fail to purify other products from the unused plasma fraction (ie, the fraction remaining after C1-INH purification) because of changes in the physical characteristics of the plasma, such as pH and ionic strength; as a result, it is unavailable for the Cohn fractionation process, leading to the high cost of C1-INH. Using cutting-edge purification technologies and more efficient virus removal steps can decrease manufacturing costs, thereby increasing the affordability and safety of the product.

During the strategic military operations, the deployment of objects viz. tanks, rescue shelters, bunkers etc. need to masquerade from enemy sensors. The deployment of these objects with adaptive photochromic coatings with fast coloration & reversibility is highly effective way for their camouflaging. The present paper systematically reports the photochromic properties of W6+ transition metal doped TiO2 nanoparticles. Undoped as well as doped TiO2 nanoparticles have been synthesized by a one pot wet chemical method. The synthesized materials have been characterized by different techniques viz. XRD, AFM, Raman, SEM, EPR and UV–Vis spectroscopy. Photochromic behavior of functional material was studied by making its composite coatings in alkyd resin matrix. The effect of W6+ dopant ion concentration on photochromic properties has been explained. The coloration & reversibility characteristics of W6+: TiO2 is found superior as compared with V5+ & Mo6+ doped TiO2 nanomaterials, reported earlier.

Abstract In recent years, there has been a growing interest in integrating distributed generation (DG) technologies into the distribution network (DN) to improve system efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and increase the power system's reliability. However, the optimal placement of DG systems within the DN is a difficult task, since it is dependent on several variables, including load demand, renewable energy sources, and energy storage systems (ESS). In this context, demand response (DR) programs can play a vital role in enhancing the efficiency of DG systems, since they allow consumers to lower their energy usage during peak hours and move their demand to off-peak hours. DR and solar photovoltaic (SPV) systems are two prominent technologies that can play a substantial role in the power DN. In this paper, a bi-level particle swarm optimization (PSO) method is employed to determine the best allocation of DG in the coordination of DR. In the suggested methodology, the first level of optimization determines the optimal size and location of DG, and the second level of optimization determines the optimal power dispatch in the coordination of DR. The proposed method is implemented on the IEEE 33 bus system, and the results demonstrate that the power quality parameters have significantly improved.

Abstract Water/drought stress experiments are frequently conducted under imposed stress or rainout shelters, while natural drought hot-spot investigations are rare. The “drought hot spot” in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, India, is appropriate for drought stress evaluation due to its hot, arid environment, limited rainfall, with over 50% rainfall variability. According to reports, 30 out of 200 groundnut cultivars in India are supposed to possess drought-tolerant characteristics. However, these cultivars are yet to be evaluated in areas that are prone to drought. This study tested these drought-tolerant genotypes in naturally drought-prone areas of Anantapur under rainfed conditions from Kharif 2017 to 2019. Pod yield and rainfall-use-efficiency (RUE) were measured for these genotypes. Genotype and genotype*environment interactions affected pod yield and RUE (GEI). The AMMI model exhibits significant season-to-season variability within the same area with environmental vectors > 90° angles. GGE biplot suggested the 2018 wet season for drought-resistant cultivar identification. Kadiri5 and GPBD5 were the most drought-tolerant cultivars for cultivation in Anantapur and adjacent regions. These types could also be used to generate drought-tolerant groundnut variants for drought-prone regions.

Abstract This paper presents the issue of the Sub-synchronous resonance (SSR) phenomenon in a series compensated DFIG-based wind power plant and its alleviation using a Battery Energy Storage-based Damping Controller (BESSDCL). A supplementary damping signal is developed considering the angular speed deviation and is incorporated into the BESS control system. Wide-area Measurement System data is used to determine the angular speed deviation. A linearized system model is developed to perform eigenvalue analysis, and to detect and examine unstable SSR modes. The variation of wind speed and three-phase fault are also taken into consideration to validate the robustness of the controller. To further verify the efficacy of the proposed damping controller, time-domain simulations are performed using MATLAB/Simulink. The application of the proposed BESSDCL stabilizes all the unstable system modes effectively at wind speeds of 7 m/s, 9 m/s, and 11 m/s, and at 40%, 50%, and 60% series compensation levels, as well three-phase fault conditions.

Fine chemicals are produced in small annual volume batch processes (often USD 10/kg). As a result of their usage in the production of speciality chemicals, in areas including agrochemicals, fragrances, and pharmaceuticals, the need for them will remain high for the foreseeable future. This review article assesses current methods used to produce fine chemicals with heterogeneous catalysts, including both well-established and newer experimental methods. A wide range of methods, utilising microporous and mesoporous catalysts, has been explored, including their preparation and modification before use in industry. Their potential drawbacks and benefits have been analysed, with their feasibility compared to newer, recently emerging catalysts. The field of heterogeneous catalysis for fine chemical production is a dynamic and ever-changing area of research. This deeper insight into catalytic behaviour and material properties will produce more efficient, selective, and sustainable processes in the fine chemical industry. The findings from this article will provide an excellent foundation for further exploration and a critical review in the field of fine chemical production using micro- and mesoporous heterogeneous catalysts.

Objective: Circulating exosome-enriched extracellular vesicles (EVs) have drawn considerable importance in obesity-related insulin-resistance (IR). We sought to compare the proteomics profile of serum exosomes from normal individuals and those with obesity and IR. Methods: We isolated serum exosomes from male subjects with obesity and insulin resistance (Ob-IR, HOMA-IR > 2.0) and lean/overweight insulin-sensitive (Normal (N), HOMA-IR < 2.0) individuals. The differential protein expression between the two groups was detected by a label-free quantitative mass spectrometry analysis followed by GO annotation and ingenuity pathway analysis (IPA). Results: We identified 23 upregulated and 46 downregulated proteins between Ob-IR and N groups. Some of these proteins are involved in altering insulin signaling (VPS13C, TBC1D32, TTR, and ADIPOQ), inflammation (NFκB and CRP), and B-cell proliferation/activation (IGLV4-69, IGKV1D-13, and IGHV4-28). GO analysis revealed that the differentially expressed proteins (DEPs) are mainly involved in regulating immune cell activation and are located in extracellular space. IPA analysis showed that top molecules mediating IR, inflammation and B-cell activation were upregulated in Ob-IR subjects compared to N subjects. Conclusions: Serum exosomal proteins can be used as biomarkers to identify the future risk of diabetes and a therapeutic target to prevent or slow down the progression of diabetes in high-risk individuals.

Effective management of daily road traffic is a huge challenge for traffic personnel. Urban traffic management has come a long way from manual control to artificial intelligence techniques. Still real-time adaptive traffic control is an unfulfilled dream due to lack of low cost and easy to install traffic sensor with real-time communication capability. With increasing number of on-board Bluetooth devices in new generation automobiles, these devices can act as sensors to convey the traffic information indirectly. This paper presents the efficacy of road-side Bluetooth scanners for traffic data collection and big-data analytics to process the collected data to extract traffic parameters. Extracted information and analysis are presented through visualizations and tables. All data analytics and visualizations are carried out off-line in R Studio environment. Reliability aspects of the collected and processed data are also investigated. Higher speed of traffic in one direction owing to the geometry of the road is also established through data analysis. Increased penetration of smart phones and fitness bands in day to day use is also established through the device type of the data collected. The results of this work can be used for regular data collection compared to the traditional road surveys carried out annually or bi-annually. It is also found that compared to previous studies published in the literature, the device penetration rate and sample size found in this study are quite high and very encouraging. This is a novel work in literature, which would be quite useful for effective road traffic management in future.

Abstract The stored random samples of food seeds of wheat and rice (60 samples) were purchased from places of Eastern UP and Gurgaon district Haryana. Its moisture contents were estimated. The Mycological investigations of wheat seeds revealed presence of a total number of 16 fungal species viz., Alternaria alternata, Aspergillus candidus, Aspergillus flavus, A. niger, A. ochraceous, A. phoenicis, A. tamari, A. terreus, A. sydowi, Fusarium moniliforme, F. oxysporum F. solani, P. glabrum, Rhizopus nigricans, Trichoderma viride and Trichothecium roseum. While mycological analysis of rice seeds showed presence of 15 fungal species viz., Alternaria padwickii, A. oryzae, Curvularia lunata, Fusarium moniliforme, Aspergillus clavatus, A. flavus, A. niger, Cladosporium sp., Nigrospora oryzae, Alternaria tenuissima, Chaetomium globosum, F. solani, Microascus cirrosus, Helminthosporium oryzae, Pyricularia grisea. It also projected variation in presence of fungal species in blotter and agar plate method of analysis. In wheat Blotter method of analysis showed 16 fungal species while agar plate depicted 13 fungal species. In rice Agar plate method depicted presence of 15 fungal species while blotter method shows presence of 12 fungal species. The insect analysis revealed that wheat samples were infected with Tribolium castaneum. While rice seeds sample showed presence of insect Sitophilus oryzae. The investigations revealed that Aspergillus flavus, A. niger, Sitophilus oryzae and Tribolium castaneum caused reduction in seed weight loss, seed germination, carbohydrate and protein contents of common food grains (wheat, rice). It also revealed that randomly selected A. flavus isolate 1 of wheat showed higher potential of aflatoxin B1 production (1392.940 μg/l) while rice isolate 2 showed 1231.117 μg/l production.

Abstract Mono-cropping of maize–wheat, mechanical disintegration of soils, and continuous chemical fertilization have deteriorated soil health in the Indo-Gangetic Plains. We studied the long-term impact of pulse-based cropping systems with integrated nutrient management on soil physical and chemical properties and yield sustainability. We evaluated four different cropping systems: (1) maize–wheat (M–W), (2) maize–wheat–mungbean (M–W–Mb), (3) maize–wheat–maize–chickpea (M–W–M–C), (4) pigeonpea–wheat (P–W) each with three degrees of soil fertilization techniques: (1) unfertilized control (CT), (2) inorganic fertilization (RDF), and (3) integrated nutrient management (INM). Abstract Emerging sub-synchronous interactions (SSI) in wind-integrated power systems have added intense attention after numerous incidents in the US and China due to the involvement of series compensated transmission lines and power electronics devices. SSI phenomenon occurs when two power system elements exchange energy below the synchronous frequency. SSI phenomenon related to wind power plants is one of the most significant challenges to maintaining stability, while SSI phenomenon in practical wind farms, which has been observed recently, has not yet been described on the source of conventional SSI literature. This paper first explains the traditional development of SSI and its classification as given by the IEEE, and then it proposes a classification of SSI according to the current research status, reviews several mitigation techniques and challenges, and discusses analysis techniques for SSI. The paper also describes the effect of the active damping controllers, control scheme parameters, degree of series compensation, and various techniques used in wind power plants (WPPs). In particular, a supplementary damping controller with converter controllers in Doubly Fed Induction Generator based WPPs is briefly pronounced. This paper provides a realistic viewpoint and a potential outlook for the readers to properly deal with SSI and its mitigation techniques, which can help power engineers for the planning, economical operation, and future expansion of sustainable development.

With the popularization of big data technology, agricultural data processing systems have become more intelligent. In this study, a data processing method for farmland environmental monitoring based on improved Spark components is designed. It introduces the FAST-Join (Join critical filtering sampling partition optimization) algorithm in the Spark component for equivalence association query optimization to improve the operating efficiency of the Spark component and cluster. The experimental results show that the amount of data written and read in Shuffle by Spark optimized by the FAST-join algorithm only accounts for 0.958 and 1.384% of the original data volume on average, and the calculation speed is 202.11% faster than the original. The average data processing time and occupied memory size of the Spark cluster are reduced by 128.22 and 76.75% compared with the originals. It also compared the cluster performance of the FAST-join and Equi-join algorithms. The Spark cluster optimized by the FAST-join algorithm reduced the processing time and occupied memory size by an average of 68.74 and 37.80% compared with the Equi-join algorithm, which shows that the FAST-join algorithm can effectively improve the efficiency of inter-data table querying and cluster computing.

The present work investigates the potential of PCM in a compact and portable TES, known as a PCM packet, to design a helmet for supplying cool air around the head and face. Two different PCMs, namely RT27 and Capric acid, have been chosen, and their performance comparison was evaluated using a developed numerical model. The present work analyzes the effect of PCM-packet orientation, melting temperature range, thermal storage capacity, and optimum configuration. The current model validates experimental results. The results reveal that the melting front propagation is sensitive to packet orientation, and at a particular instant, RT27 has shown a maximum liquid fraction compared to Capric acid. RT27 and Capric acid encapsulated systems held horizontally obtained melting times of 150 min and 175 min, respectively. The air outlet temperature was significantly reduced with the RT27 PCM-packet in the horizontal case since the air inlet boundary condition closely matches the PCM's melting temperature. Moreover, the designer can choose the orientation and design the PCM packet according to outdoor climate conditions.
