Abstract Background Cirrhosis is associated with chronic cardiovascular dysfunction termed cirrhotic cardiomyopathy (CCM), characterized by myocardial hypertrophy and diastolic dysfunction. Detecting early cardiac changes is crucial, especially in patients undergoing liver transplantation. Objective: This study aims to evaluate left ventricular systolic function in cirrhotic patients undergoing liver transplantation using speckle-tracking echocardiography. Methods A prospective observational study was conducted involving 54 cirrhotic patients who underwent liver transplantation, along with 28 age- and sex-matched healthy controls. Echocardiography, including conventional and two-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography (2D-STE), was performed at baseline and one-month post-transplantation. Results The mean age in the cirrhotic group was 52.2 ± 12.7 years, with no significant difference compared to the control group. Viral hepatitis was the predominant etiology of cirrhosis (68.6%). Conventional echocardiography did not reveal significant differences between groups in LV ejection fraction [62% (56–69) vs. 59% (56–62); p = 0.830]. However, in cirrhotic patients, 2D-STE demonstrated significantly lower LV global longitudinal strain (LV-GLS) [17.5 (15.5–19.1) vs 19.0 (18.0–19.7), p = 0.006]. Post-transplantation, conventional echocardiography indices remained unchanged, while 2D-STE showed remarkable improvement in LV function, with increased LV-GLS compared to pre-transplantation value. Conclusions 2D-STE is a valuable tool for detecting and monitoring left ventricular systolic dysfunction in liver cirrhosis patients, particularly following transplantation. While conventional echocardiography may not detect subtle changes, 2D-STE reveals improvements in LV function post-transplantation, emphasizing its role in assessing cirrhotic cardiomyopathy.

Nghiên cứu tập trung vào các nhân tố ảnh hưởng đến hiện tượng nhân viên vẫn đi làm việc dù sức khỏe không tốt (presenteeism; Aronsson, Gustafsson, & Dallner, 2000; Johns, 2010), và mối quan hệ giữa hiện tượng này với hạnh phúc của nhân viên. Kết quả được đánh giá dựa trên 203 bảng khảo sát các nhân viên làm ở Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh. Bằng phương pháp hồi quy tuyến tính, nghiên cứu cho thấy sự hỗ trợ của quản lý, sức sống, và sự giám sát của quản lý có mối quan hệ tích cực đối với hiện tượng presenteeism mang ý nghĩa tích cực; tuy nhiên, chỉ có sự hỗ trợ của quản lý có ý nghĩa thống kê với hiện tượng presenteeism mang ý nghĩa tiêu cực. Đồng thời, tác động của hiện tượng presenteeism đối với hạnh phúc tương đối phức tạp, do có sự khác nhau về chiều hướng tác động của biến presenteeism. Nghiên cứu giúp cho các nhà khoa học và quản lý có thêm hiểu biết về các yếu tố tác động đối với presenteeism và hạnh phúc.

This study aims to determine the prevalence of Campylobacter and its antibiotic susceptibility at slaughterhouses and live poultry markets in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam. A total of 177 samples, including 112 fecal samples, 28 cecal samples, and 37 rectal swab samples were collected. Thirty-nine samples tested positive for Campylobacter spp. by culture method, accounting for 22%. Isolation rates of Campylobacter in rectal swab samples were highest at 29.7% (11/37), followed by cecal samples at 25% (7/28) and fecal dropping samples at 18.8% (21/112). Species identification was performed by multiplex PCR and the result showed that the prevalence of Campylobacter coli (12.4%) was higher than Campylobacter jejuni (3.4%). Antibiotic susceptibility test showed that all isolated Campylobacter were susceptible to imipenem and meropenem (100%). Most Campylobacter were resistant to tetracycline (96.4%), ciprofloxacin (92.9%), nalidixic acid (89.3%), and ampicillin (67.9%). This study highlights the high contamination of Campylobacter and its antibiotic resistance in poultry in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam.

This paper used the UK Agency for International Development sustainable livelihood framework to measure small-scale in-land fishing household’s livelihood by sustainable livelihood capital index in the vulnerable context of aquatic natural resource depletion in the wetland forest of Ca Mau province, Vietnam. Findings indicated that fishing households’ livelihood capital is unsustainable and inadequate. The result took note of the beneficial physical capital while underlining the human, natural, financial, and social capital’s limitations in achieving livelihood sustainability. The limitations were found to be a low score of composite index of sustainable livelihood capital (less than an average score of 0.5) whereas the outstanding score of physical capital was found. Providing training in the adoption of new livelihood models, learning livelihood diversification, access to formal credit, and appropriate coverage of social safety-net programs might help mitigate the unsustainable livelihood of inland fishing households.

Recognizing emotions on human faces has always received attention and attraction from researchers. Along with the development of artificial intelligence, facial emotion recognition cameras are increasingly being introduced into various fields such as healthcare, education, and commerce. Thanks to the effective support of cameras integrated with artificial intelligence technology, the above fields are growing strongly. Therefore, this study will present an effective and simple facial emotion recognition model based on deep learning technology. Facial emotion recognition is performed automatically and accurately, thereby shortening implementation time and increasing work efficiency. In this study, the VGG-Face model is trained using the FER-2013 data set and applied to evaluate customer service quality. The input data are videos of human faces to perform emotion recognition and 7 different facial expressions have been performed recognition. Experimental results have shown the effectiveness of the model.

Nghiên cứu nhằm xác định mối liên hệ giữa Protozoa với các thông số môi trường nước trong các ao nuôi tôm thẻ chân trắng thâm canh. Các mẫu Protozoa được thu ở 5 ao tôm và 2 kênh cấp tại tỉnh Sóc Trăng. Các ao tôm được chia thành 2 nhóm gồm nhóm N1 (3 ao) và nhóm N2 (2 ao). Tất cả các ao tôm đều có qui trình nuôi tương tự nhau. Tuy nhiên, chỉ có nhóm N2 có sử dụng ao lắng trong quá trình nuôi. Kết quả đã ghi nhận 20 loài Protozoa (36%). Số loài Protozoa trong các ao tôm và kênh cấp không khác biệt đáng kể. Mật độ Protozoa trong các ao tôm cao hơn kênh cấp, biến động lần lượt từ 34.089-31.155.511 ct/m3 đến 60.507-3.037.222 ct/m3. A pyruvate dehydrogenase complex deficiency causes a reduction in adenosine triphosphate production and energy insufficiency, leading to neurological disorders. An abnormal E1-alpha protein originating from the PDHA1 gene with pathogenic variants is unable to communicate with E1-beta for the formation of the E1 enzyme, decreasing pyruvate dehydrogenase complex activity. In this study, we report a Vietnamese boy with lethargy, severe metabolic acidosis, increased serum lactate, hyperalaninemia, lactic acidosis, and globus pallidus lesions. Whole-exome sequencing and variant filtering identified a hemizygous missense variant NM000284.4 (PDHA1): c.479T>G (p.Phe160Cys) in the patient. The variant c.479T>G caused a single nucleotide substitution on exon 5 and was predicted to be a disease-causing variant in the in silico analyses. We present the first report with a genetic analysis of a Vietnamese patient with pyruvate dehydrogenase E1-alpha deficiency (PDHAD). Sanger sequencing demonstrated that the patient inherited the variant from his mother who harbored the variant in a heterozygous state, but no PDHAD symptoms were observed in her. In addition, a prenatal test of the patient's mother revealed a fetus with a normal genotype. Furthermore, the patient's father and sister both carried a normal allele. Based on the American College of Medical Genetics criteria, the variant c.479T>G was predicted to be a likely pathogenic variant. Using the combination of the patient’s genotype and phenotype, he was definitively diagnosed with pyruvate dehydrogenase E1-alpha deficiency. Our findings expand the mutational spectrum of neurological disorders and provide the scientific basis for genetic counseling for the patient's family.

Purpose – This study investigates the moderating effect of eco-destination image on the relationships between travel motivations and ecotourism intention. Design/methodology/approach – The study employs the convenience sampling method to develop a research sample, and the multivariate data analysis method to analyse the data of 435 valid observations collected in the structured questionnaire survey conducted in Vietnam. Findings – The paper reports that the eco-destination image significantly strengthens the effects of four travel motives (i.e. excitement, escape, knowledge-seeking and self-development) on ecotourism intention. However, the moderating impact of eco-destination image on the link between socialising motive and ecotourism intention is insignificant. Originality/value – This study is the first to shed light on the role of eco-destination image in strengthening the effects of travel motivations on ecotourism demand. The study provides a framework for segmenting promotion materials associated with destination image based on different types of customers' internal travel motivations. The framework includes four dimensions: (1) destination image reflecting enablers of excitement, (2) destination image reflecting enablers of escaping from daily life routine, (3) destination image reflecting enablers of knowledge-seeking and (4) destination image reflecting enablers of personal development.

OBJECTIVE: This retrospective study evaluated the diagnostic efficacy of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for identifying acute appendicitis during pregnancy. PATIENTS AND METHODS: This retrospective study enrolled a total of 46 pregnant patients with clinically suspected acute appendicitis who underwent 1.5 T MRI and received a final pathological diagnosis. We evaluated the imaging characteristics associated with patients diagnosed with acute appendicitis, including the appendix diameter, the appendix wall thickness, intra-appendiceal fluid collection, and peri-appendiceal fat infiltration. A bright appendix on T1-weighted 3-dimensional imaging was identified as a negative sign for appendicitis. RESULTS: Peri-appendiceal fat infiltration had the highest specificity of 97.1% for diagnosing acute appendicitis, whereas increasing appendiceal diameter had the highest sensitivity of 91.7%. The cut-off values for increasing appendiceal diameter and appendiceal wall thickness were 6.55 mm and 2.7 mm, respectively. Using these cutoff values, appendiceal diameter had a sensitivity (Se), specificity (Sp), positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) of 91.7%, 91.2%, 78.4%, and 96.9%, respectively, whereas these values for appendiceal wall thickness were 75.0%, 91.2%, 75.0%, and 91.2%. The combination of increasing appendiceal diameter and appendiceal wall thickness resulted in an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve value of 0.958 with Se, Sp, PPV, and NPV values of 75.0%, 100.0%, 100.0%, and 91.9%, respectively. CONCLUSIONS: All five MRI signs examined in this study had significant diagnostic value for detecting acute appendicitis during pregnancy, with p-values <0.01. The combined use of increasing appendiceal diameter and appendiceal wall thickness displayed the excellent ability to diagnose acute appendicitis in pregnant women. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objectives: We studied the immunogenicity after primary and booster vaccinations of the Abdala COVID-19 vaccine, a receptor-binding domain protein subunit vaccine, in Vietnamese people by determining the level of neutralization and cross-neutralization activities against the ancestral SARS-CoV-2 and its variants and SARS-CoV-1. Methods: We performed a prospective observational study, enrolling adults aged 19-59 years in Dong Thap province, southern Vietnam, and collected blood samples from baseline until 4 weeks after the booster dose. We measured anti-nucleocapsid, anti-spike, and neutralizing antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 and assessed the cross-neutralization against 14 SARS-CoV-2 variants and SARS-CoV-1. Complementary antibody data came from Vietnamese health care workers fully vaccinated with ChAdOx1-S. Results: After primary vaccination, anti-spike antibody and neutralizing antibodies were detectable in 98.4% and 87% of 251 study participants, respectively, with neutralizing antibody titers similar to that induced by ChAdOx1-S vaccine. Antibody responses after a homologous (Abdala COVID-19) or heterologous (messenger RNA BNT162b2) booster could neutralize 14 SARS-CoV-2 variants (including Omicron) and SARS-CoV-1. Conclusions: Abdala COVID-19 vaccine is immunogenic in Vietnamese people. Enhanced antibody response after a booster dose could cross-neutralize 14 SARS-CoV-2 variants and SARS-CoV-1. Our results have added to the growing body of knowledge about the contribution of protein subunit vaccine platforms to pandemic control.

Abstract Metal corrosion is a challenge for the world with heavy impacts on the economy. Study on the development of effectiveness anticorrosion additives is a promising strategery for the protection industry. This research focuses on the modification of hydrotalcite Mg−Al (HT) loading tannic acid (TA) with 3‐(trimethoxy silyl) propyl methacrylate organo‐silane (TMSPM) for applicating as an anti‐corrosion additive for epoxy coating on the steel substrate. The suitable ratio of HT and modifiers was investigated and the suitable content of modified HT in epoxy matrix was found based on mechanical properties of the epoxy‐based coating. The characteristics of modified HT were assessed through infrared (IR) spectroscopy, X‐ray diffraction pattern (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermal gravimetry analysis (TGA), water contact angle (WCA), dynamic light scattering (DLS). Detailly, HT‐TA3‐S3 shows good stability in distilled water when HT/TA was modified with TMSPM which makes Zeta potential decreases significantly. Besides, SEM analysis presented HT‐TA‐S has a cylindrical shape about of 500 nm. Moreover, the crystallite size of HT/TA after being modified by TMSPM decreases sharply. All of these prove successfully synthesize HT loading TA with modified TMSPM. Water contact angle (WCA) decreases in case of loading TA and increases in case of modifying with TMSPM (WCA changed from HT (116.3°) to HT‐TA (102.4°) and HT‐TA‐S (120.1°) which indicates the increased hydrophobicity of the sample. The obtained results showed HT/TA was modified successfully with TMSPM. The modification affected the size distribution and surface properties of HT nanoparticles while it did not impact on the crystal structure of HT. After incorporating modified HT/TA into the epoxy coating, the adhesion of coating to steel substrate was improved significantly. Consequently, the adhesion of epoxy/3 wt. % modified HT/TA coating was increased 3 times as compared to epoxy neat (from 0.76 MPa to 2.77 MPa). In addition, the relative hardness and gloss retention of epoxy/3 wt. % modified HT/TA coating reached the maximum values as compared to the others. Owing to salt spraying results, the epoxy/3 wt. % modified HT/TA exhibited an excellent anticorrosion ability for the steel substrate. All the above results show the potential of HT nanoparticles loading TA modified with TMSPM as anticorrosive additives for protective coatings on steel substrates.

Bài báo nghiên cứu hiệu quả của máy lột vỏ lụa hạt sen tươi bằng nguyên lý đĩa ma sát. Hai thông số vận hành là thời gian hoạt động của máy và tốc độ quay của đĩa ma sát được khảo sát để đánh giá ảnh hưởng đến hiệu suất lột vỏ lụa hạt sen tươi ứng với thời gian ngâm hạt sen 30 phút trước khi đưa vào máy lột vỏ hạt sen. Kết quả cho thấy thời gian và tốc độ đĩa quay của máy tác động lớn đến hiệu suất lột vỏ lụa hạt sen tươi. Hiệu suất tăng từ 79% lên 96% khi thời gian chạy máy tăng từ 4 đến 7 phút. Hơn nữa, khi tăng tốc độ quay của đĩa ma sát lên 1600 vòng/phút, hiệu suất lột vỏ lụa có thể đạt 98%. Bên cạnh đó, hạt sen đạt chất lượng tốt hơn sau khi tách vỏ lụa có thể thu được khi sử dụng tốc độ quay 1400 vòng/phút và thời gian hoạt động của máy 6 phút.

Sản xuất nông nghiệp tiêu thụ nhiều năng lượng (NL) thông qua vật tư đầu vào, sự hoạt động của máy móc và sức lao động. Nghiên cứu đã sử dụng phương pháp đánh giá vòng đời, kết hợp sử dụng phần mềm MiLCA để định lượng, đánh giá và so sánh mô hình canh tác (MHCT) khoai lang (KL) và khoai môn (KM) về nhu cầu tiêu thụ NL thông qua đầu vào sản xuất (Megajoule-MJ). Hiệu quả tài chính của hai MHCT cũng được phân tích. Mục tiêu thể hiện mức chi trả do tiêu thụ NL của hai MHCT trong các khâu sản xuất khác nhau đã được thực hiện: nông dân canh tác KL phải bỏ ra 746 đồng để có được 1 MJ phục vụ canh tác; chi phí này cao gấp hơn 2 lần so với canh tác KM (360 đồng/MJ). Trong cả hai MHCT, việc đầu tư NL thông qua sản xuất và ứng dụng phân bón chiếm ý nghĩa quan trọng. Chính vì lý do đó, việc sử dụng phân bón hợp lý, phù hợp với từng giai đoạn sinh trưởng của hai loại khoai, tránh sử dụng lãng phí phân bón nên là một trong những giải pháp ưu tiên nhằm tiết kiệm năng lượng đối với cả 2 MHCT.

Cùng với sự biến đổi khí hậu, sự lạm dụng hóa chất nông nghiệp trong sản xuất nông nghiệp dẫn đến sự bạc màu đất, giảm năng suất và chất lượng của nông sản. Trong canh tác nông nghiệp, nấm rễ nội cộng sinh (arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi, AMF) ký sinh bắt buộc với thực vật và có vai trò như nguồn phân bón và thuốc bảo vệ thực vật sinh học, cải tạo đất và góp phần tăng năng suất của cây trồng. Mục tiêu của nghiên cứu tổng quan là tóm tắt vai trò có lợi của nấm rễ AMF đối với cây trồng và môi trường đất canh tác. Các kết quả nghiên cứu tham khảo chứng minh được vai trò có lợi của nấm rễ AMF giúp cây trồng hấp thu dinh dưỡng, đối kháng với nguồn bệnh trong đất, hỗ trợ cây trồng trong điều kiện bất lợi của môi trường, giảm ngộ độc kim loại nặng và giúp giảm phát thải khí nhà kính. Do đó, nấm rễ AMF được xem là nhóm vi sinh vật có lợi tiềm năng đáp ứng yêu cầu phục vụ trong sản xuất nông nghiệp hữu cơ.

Escherichia coli exhibit extensive genetic diversity at the genome level, particularly within their accessory genome. The tRNA integrated genomic islands (GIs), a part of the E. coli accessory genome, play an important role in pathogenicity. However, studies examining the evolution of GIs have been challenging due to their large size, considerable gene content variation and fragmented assembly in draft genomes. Here we examined the evolution of the GI integrated at pheV-tRNA (GI-pheV), with a primary focus on uropathogenic E. coli (UPEC) and the globally disseminated multidrug resistant ST131 clone. We show the gene content of GI-pheV is highly diverse and arranged in a modular configuration, with the P4 integrase encoding gene intP4 the only conserved gene. Despite this diversity, the GI-pheV gene content displayed conserved features among strains from the same pathotype. In ST131, GI-pheV corresponding to the reference strain EC958 (EC958_GI-pheV) was found in ~90% of strains. Phylogenetic analyses suggested that GI-pheV in ST131 has evolved together with the core genome, with the loss/gain of specific modules (or the entire GI) linked to strain specific events. Overall, we show GI-pheV exhibits a dynamic evolutionary pathway, in which modules and genes have evolved through multiple events including insertions, deletions and recombination.

The complex [Pt(C9H6NO)Cl(C2H4)], (I), was synthesized and structurally characterized by ESI mass spectrometry, IR, NMR spectroscopy, DFT calculations and X-ray diffraction. The results showed that the deprotonated 8-hydroxyquinoline (C9H6NO) coordinates with the PtII atom via the N and O atoms while the ethylene coordinates in the η2 manner and in the trans position compared to the coordinating N atom. The crystal packing is characterized by C—H...O, C—H...π, Cl...π and Pt...π interactions. Complex (I) showed high selective activity against Lu-1 and Hep-G2 cell lines with IC50 values of 0.8 and 0.4 µM, respectively, 54 and 33-fold more active than cisplatin. In particular, complex (I) is about 10 times less toxic to normal cells (HEK-293) than cancer cells Lu-1 and Hep-G2. Furthermore, the reaction of complex (I) with guanine at the N7 position was proposed and investigated using the DFT method. The results indicated that replacement of the ethylene ligand with guanine is thermodynamically more favorable than the Cl ligand and that the reaction occurs via two consecutive steps, namely the replacement of ethylene with H2O and the water with the guanine molecule.

Bài báo trình bày kết quả nghiên cứu chế tạo mô hình máy lấy tim hạt sen tươi. Tim sen có nhiều công dụng trong y học nhưng nó có vị đắng, cần phải loại ra trước khi chế biến hạt sen. Mô hình hoạt động của máy được thiết kế dựa trên nguyên lí đột để loại bỏ tim sen ra khỏi hạt sen. Kết quả nghiên cứu cho thấy, máy đạt hiệu suất hơn 90% hạt có thể lấy tim; trong đó 83,6% hạt được lấy sạch tim sen, với năng suất máy 3 – 5 kg/h. Với các kết quả đạt được của nghiên cứu, việc ứng dụng máy đột tim sen vào trong khâu loại bỏ tim sen thay cho việc lấy tim sen thủ công sẽ mang lại nhiều lợi ích đáng kể cho việc sản xuất, không chỉ tiết kiệm thời gian sản xuất mà còn giảm được chi phí nhân công.

Nghiên cứu nhằm xác định sự ảnh hưởng của Nhận thức độ tin cậy và Nhận thức về trách nhiệm xã hội doanh nghiệp (CSR) của người tiêu dùng đến Ý định mua hàng thông qua trung gian là mô hình Lý thuyết hành vi dự định TPB đối với ngành thời trang. Bài nghiên cứu sử dụng phương pháp định lượng bằng phần mềm SPSS và AMOS, dữ liệu từ 424 người tại Việt Nam. Kết quả cho thấy, Nhận thức độ tin cậy và Nhận thức CSR có tác động dương đến các biến trung gian TPB, dẫn đến tác động lên Ý định mua hàng, trừ Nhận thức độ tin cậy không tác động đến Chuẩn chủ quan. Trên cơ sở kết quả nghiên cứu, nhóm tác giả đề xuất một số giải pháp để nâng cao hiệu quả truyền thông CSR và kinh doanh của doanh nghiệp.

The research was conducted from May to December 2022 in Lao Cai province. A total of 192 fish samples were collected from the traditional cultured fish group and coldwater cultured fish group. Freshoscopy method has been applied for fungal indicators, isolated culture for bacteria and PCR technique for virus indicators. The results showed that fungal agents were detected with a high infection rate in both groups of traditionally cultured fish (83.3%) and cold-water cultured fish (66.7%); Among them, more than 90% are fungus carrying Branchiomyces sp.; The remaining is Dermocystidium sp. and Aphanomyces sp, the recorded period is from May to December. Meanwhile, bacterial causes were found to be lower, infection rate of bacterial species Edwardsiella sp.; Streptococcus sp. and Aeromonas sp. recorded between 20 and 35%, especially in September and October, the infection rate is lower than other months. To limit the damage, water needs to be treated before flowing into the pond/farming tank, periodically supplement vitamin C or multivitamins to increase the fish's resistance, well control environmental factors, especially temperature, amount of ammonia and amount of organic matter in the pond.

Tảo lục là nguồn nguyên liệu giàu các hoạt tính sinh học. Trong đó, tảo Caulerpa taxifolia (Guột liềm) là một loài thuộc ngành tảo lục. Thành phần hóa học và hoạt tính kháng oxy hóa, kháng viêm và kháng khuẩn của cao chiết ethanol tảo Guột liềm đã được khảo sát trong nội dung đề tài này. Kết quả định lượng polyphenol tổng cho thấy cao ethanol chiết xuất từ C. taxifolia có 91,49±2,09 mg GAE/g cao chiết, hàm lượng flavonoid là 226,00±6,00 mg QE/g cao chiết. Kết quả khảo sát hoạt tính kháng oxy hóa chứng minh tảo C. taxifolia có khả năng trung hoà gốc tự do DPPH khá thấp đạt giá trị IC50= 11302,33 µg/mL và năng lực khử sắt OD0,5= 780 μg/mL Đối với khả năng ức chế sự biến tính albumin từ huyết thanh bò, cao chiết C. taxifolia đạt 132,49 % ở nồng độ 100 mg/ mL. Cao chiết C. taxifolia thể hiện hoạt tính kháng đối với 2 dòng vi khuẩn Bacillus cereus and Escherichia coli với đường kính vòng kháng khuẩn tương ứng 5,67±0,58 mm và 1,33±0,58 mm ở nồng độ 40 mg/mL. Từ kết quả khảo sát đã chứng minh tiềm năng kháng oxy hoá, kháng viêm và kháng khuẩn của tảo C. taxifolia cho thấy tiềm năng việc ứng dụng tảo biển trong các sản phẩm thực phẩm cũng như trong y học.

Mục tiêu của nghiên cứu là đánh giá khả năng chống oxy hóa của vi khuẩn nội sinh phân lập từ cây Lan gấm (Anoectochilus setaceus). Kết quả cho thấy từ các bộ phận thân, lá và rễ của cây Lan gấm phân lập được 20 dòng vi khuẩn nội sinh. Khả năng chống oxy hoá được đánh giá bằng phương pháp định lượng polyphenol, flavonoid, chống oxy hóa tổng số (TAC) và năng lực khử (Reducing power-RP). Tất cả các dòng vi khuẩn phân lập được đều có khả năng chống oxy hóa, trong đó 3 dòng vi khuẩn AS-T4, AS-R2, AS-L3 có khả năng chống oxy hóa mạnh nhất. Hàm lượng polyphenol của ba dòng vi khuẩn AS-T4, AS-R2, AS-L3 lần lượt là: 642,5; 731,4; 1400 (mg GAE/mL); hàm lượng flavonoid lần lượt là 118,6; 134,3; 192,1 (mg QE/mL). Kết quả chống oxy hóa của phương pháp TAC lần lượt là: 846,3; 1402,6; 1195,0 mg (AAE/mL); RP là 841,5; 872,0; 946,0 (mg AAE/mL). Kết quả định danh ba dòng vi khuẩn AS-T4, AS-R2 và AS-L3 là Enterobacter quasiroggenkampii AS-T4, Enterobacter hormaechei AS-R2, Bacillus velezensis AS-L3.

Nghiên cứu được thực hiện nhằm phân lập vi khuẩn nội sinh trong cây mắc cỡ tàn dù (Biophytum sensitivum L.) có khả năng kháng oxy hóa và khả năng đối kháng in vitro. Khả năng kháng oxy hóa được xác định bằng phương pháp định lượng polyphenol, flavonoid, kháng oxy hóa tổng và khả năng khử sắt. Kết quả cho thấy tổng cộng có 30 dòng vi khuẩn nội sinh được phân lập từ cây mắc cỡ tàn dù và đều có khả năng kháng oxy hóa. Trong 30 dòng vi khuẩn đã phân lập có 3 dòng cho thấy khả năng sản sinh hợp chất kháng oxy hóa và khả năng kháng khuẩn hiệu quả nhất được ký hiệu là BS-R1, BS-L1 và BS-F8. Sau khi sàng lọc và định danh thì kết quả cho thấy dòng BS_R1 và BS-L1 tương đồng với chi Bacillus với độ tương đồng là 99,93%, với dòng BS-F8 thì cho thấy độ tương đồng với chi Calidifontibacillus là 100%.

Trong nghiên cứu này, cấu trúc armchair graphene đơn lớp nanoribbons (AGNRs) dưới ảnh hưởng của khuyết và tái cấu trúc tạo thành vòng 5-9 được đưa vào tính toán. Phương pháp gần đúng liên kết mạnh (TB) được sử dụng để khảo sát cấu trúc vùng năng lượng của vật liệu khi không có và có sự xuất hiện của điện trường ngoài. Bên cạnh đó, bài toán nhiệt điện cũng được thực hiện dựa trên phương pháp luận hàm Green. Kết quả khảo sát với M = 15 cho thấy rằng, độ rộng vùng cấm của vật liệu được chia thành hai vùng cấm con nằm quanh mức Fermi. Tùy thuộc vào các vị trí khuyết khác nhau, độ rộng vùng cấm sẽ thay đổi. Đặc biệt, dưới tác động của điện trường song song, độ rộng vùng cấm của vật liệu được điều khiển, dẫn đến sự thay đổi mật độ trạng thái (DOS) và hệ số Seebeck S của vật liệu. Như vậy, sự kết hợp của khuyết và điện trường ngoài mang nhiều tiềm năng để đưa vật liệu graphene hướng đến những ứng dụng trong tương lai.

Chi Tai tượng (Acalypha) có nhiều loài có giá trị dược liệu, được sử dụng trong các bài thuốc y học cổ truyền. Trong nghiên cứu này, hai mẫu thực vật được thu tại khu vực sông Hương, thành phố Huế và lưu trữ ở Bảo tàng Sinh học, Trường Đại học Khoa học Tự nhiên (HNU) với số hiệu HNU025526 và HNU025527. So sánh hình thái kết hợp với phân tích bốn chỉ thị DNA matK, rbcL, ITS và trnL-trnF cho thấy hai mẫu này là loài Tai tượng đồng (Acalypha arvensis Poepp.). Đây là lần đầu tiên loài Tai tượng đồng được ghi nhận ở Việt Nam, bổ sung thêm một loài vào hệ thực vật Việt Nam.

Nghiên cứu được thực hiện nhằm phân lập vi khuẩn nội sinh trong cây bí kỳ nam (Hydnophytum formicarum) có khả năng tạo ra chất chống oxy hoá (hàm lượng flavonoid tổng (TFC), chống oxy hoá tổng (TAC) và khả năng khử sắt (RP)). Ngoài ra, các dòng vi khuẩn có khả năng chống oxy hoá cao được định danh qua việc quan sát hình thái học,16s rRNA. Các mẫu rễ, thân và lá của cây bí kỳ nam ở thành phố Phú Quốc, tỉnh Kiên Giang được dùng làm nguyên liệu để phân lập vi khuẩn. Kết quả cho thấy tổng cộng 25 dòng vi khuẩn nội sinh được phân lập từ các bộ phận khác nhau của cây Bí kỳ nam đều có hoạt tính chống oxy hoá. Trong đó, 3 dòng vi khuẩn HF-L5, HF-T11 và HF-R6 được chọn để tiến hành định danh. Kết quả cho thấy các dòng vi khuẩn này thuộc chi Bacillus (dòng HF-L5 và HF-T11) và Pantoea (dòng HF-R6).

BackgroundThis study aimed to measure the associations between different inflammatory factors, namely interleukin (IL)-17A, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), and atherosclerosis in patients with psoriasis vulgaris.MethodsA cross-sectional study was conducted at two hospitals in Hanoi, Vietnam. Nghiên cứu đánh giá ảnh hưởng của nước phèn ở các mức pH khác nhau kết hợp với độ mặn lên tăng trưởng, tỷ lệ sống, FCR và enzyme tiêu hóa của cá tra (Pangasinodon hypophthalmus) giống. This study presents a HPLC-DAD method developed for the simultaneous detection of histamine H1 antagonist drugs and analgesic compounds, including paracetamol, cetirizine hydrochloride, cinnarizine, chlorpheniramine maleate, and loratadine, in herbal formulations. This method systematically investigates critical parameters for enhancing separation and quantification using HPLC-DAD. Chemometric techniques were employed to optimize the method for detecting adulterants, with sample preparation involving liquid-phase extraction and a mobile phase for separation using HPLC-DAD. The calibration curves were linear over concentrations ranging from 10 to 40 µg/mL, with correlation coefficients exceeding 0.99. The method exhibits good accuracy, with mean recoveries ranging from 90 to 105 %, and precision (% RSD) for intraday and interday precision: 0.71 to 2.94 %. The limits of detection (LODs) and limits of quantification (LOQs) for each compound are provided. The HPLC-DAD method ensures rigorous quality control, detecting potential adulteration in 32 traditional medicine samples and emphasizing its safety and efficacy in managing allergic conditions. The proposed approach is considered environmentally friendly based on evaluations from commonly used greenness assessment tools, Green analytical chemistry metrics (ComplexGAPI, AGREE, BAGI) confirm the method's sustainability and practicality.

Abstract A thin dielectric layer is an important constituent element in 2D materials-based electronics and photonics. Current methods of using hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) and direct deposition of dielectric layer induce either high leakage current or unintentional doping and defect. Here we report a technique for damaging free integration of dielectric layer to form high-quality van der Waals (vdW) heterostructure. The dielectric layer is grown by atomic layer deposition (ALD) on 2D materials and then deterministically transferred on the target 2D material. The much weaker binding energy between the ALD dielectric and the 2D materials enables the growth and exfoliation of the atomically thin dielectrics, which is confirmed by the X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy analyses and the density function theory calculations. The effectiveness of the technology is proven by the Raman and photoluminescence measurement on WS2 monolayer protected by the dielectric film through harsh plasma treatment. Furthermore, a 2D materials-based MOSFET is constructed as a demonstration of the viability of the technology for electronic device applications. The method produces flat surfaces and clean interfaces and would greatly benefit electronic and photonic applications as encapsulation or high-κ gate dielectric.

Abstract Bacteria adapt to selective pressure in their immediate environment in multiple ways. One mechanism involves the acquisition of independent mutations that disable or modify a key pathway, providing a signature of adaptation via convergent evolution. Extra-intestinal pathogenic Escherichia coli (ExPEC) belonging to sequence type 95 (ST95) represent a global clone frequently associated with severe human infections including acute pyelonephritis, sepsis, and neonatal meningitis. Here, we analysed a publicly available dataset of 613 ST95 genomes and identified a series of loss-of-function mutations that disrupt cellulose production or its modification in 55.3% of strains. We show the inability to produce cellulose significantly enhances ST95 invasive infection in a rat model of neonatal meningitis, leading to the disruption of intestinal barrier integrity in newborn pups and enhanced dissemination to the liver, spleen and brain. Consistent with these observations, disruption of cellulose production in ST95 augmented innate immune signalling and tissue neutrophil infiltration in a mouse model of urinary tract infection. Mutations that disrupt cellulose production were also identified in other virulent ExPEC STs, Shigella and Salmonella, suggesting a correlative association with many Enterobacteriaceae that cause severe human infection. Together, our findings provide an explanation for the emergence of hypervirulent Enterobacteriaceae clones.

Skeletal muscle has a robust regeneration ability that is impaired by severe injury, disease, and aging, resulting in a decline in skeletal muscle function. Therefore, improving skeletal muscle regeneration is a key challenge in treating skeletal muscle-related disorders. Owing to their significant role in tissue regeneration, implantation of M2 macrophages (M2Mø) has great potential for improving skeletal muscle regeneration. Here, we present a short-wave infrared (SWIR) fluorescence imaging technique to obtain more in vivo information for an in-depth evaluation of the skeletal muscle regeneration effect after M2Mø transplantation. SWIR fluorescence imaging was employed to track implanted M2Mø in the injured skeletal muscle of mouse models. It is found that the implanted M2Mø accumulated at the injury site for two weeks. Then, SWIR fluorescence imaging of blood vessels showed that M2Mø implantation could improve the relative perfusion ratio on day 5 (1.09 ± 0.09 vs 0.85 ± 0.05; p = 0.01) and day 9 (1.38 ± 0.16 vs 0.95 ± 0.03; p = 0.01) post-injury, as well as augment the degree of skeletal muscle regeneration on day 13 post-injury. Finally, multiple linear regression analyses determined that post-injury time and relative perfusion ratio could be used as predictive indicators to evaluate skeletal muscle regeneration. These results provide more in vivo details about M2Mø in skeletal muscle regeneration and confirm that M2Mø could promote angiogenesis and improve the degree of skeletal muscle repair, which will guide the research and development of M2Mø implantation to improve skeletal muscle regeneration.

Nowadays, weekend travel is gradually gaining people's attention due to societal impacts, with the desire to improve health, relax, rest, and entertain after days of exhausting work. Therefore, the development of weekend travel is a strategy of interest to managers and leaders, leading to intense competition among destinations. Although it has been long established worldwide, weekend travel in Vietnam has only recently gained popularity, primarily among young people. Therefore, researching the factors influencing the decision to choose weekend travel destinations is significant in developing strategies for this type of tourism. The research results show that the choice of weekend travel destinations by Ho Chi Minh City tourists is driven by various internal and external factors. Among them, internal motivations, income, convenience in the trip, the image of the destination, etc., are factors rated highly by tourists. There are significant differences in some internal and external factors according to age groups. Model testing and research hypotheses indicate that 66.4% of destination choices are influenced by the proposed factors in the model. Among them, the destination image has the most significant impact, followed by income, internal motivations, and distance. The remaining factors in the model have low or no impact on the satisfaction and commitment to return to weekend travel destinations for Ho Chi Minh City tourists.

This study aims to evaluate the efficiency of all businesses operating in the Freight Transportation Arrangement (FTA) service provider companies in Vietnam in the years 2016–2022 using the Slacks-Based Measure SBM-Max (SM) and super SBM-Max (SSM) models. The analysis was conducted by calculating the ratio between outputs and inputs in the FTA providers’ operational processes. The projection of the SSM model (Pro) and the Rh indicator were used to propose solutions for the inefficient providers by reducing the excessive inputs and increasing the outputs. The empirical results determined the inefficiency term, efficiency term, and rank for each provider every time. Dinh Vu port was identified as the best FTA provider in Vietnam, ranking first or second throughout the term due to its considerable efforts to perform efficiently. It shall be noted that the use of these models can help FTA providers in Vietnam to identify their strengths and weaknesses in terms of operational efficiency. By implementing the proposed solutions, businesses can improve their performance and ultimately increase their competitive advantage in the market. Further research could explore the effectiveness of these models in other industries or countries to provide deeper insights into their potential applications.

Abstract Background The COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting isolation measures created an increase in the usage of smart devices and internet among adolescents. This study aims to estimate the prevalence of internet addiction, the prevalence of high level of anxiety as well as to examine factors associated with the high level of anxiety among adolescents in Hanoi, Vietnam during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method Data was collected using respondent-driven sampling and Google online survey forms from a sample of 5,325 school students aged 11–17 in Hanoi between October and December 2021. A short scale consisting of 5 items was used to measure internet addiction and the GAD-7 was used to measure adolescent anxiety level. Results The findings revealed that 22.8% and 7.32% of adolescents experienced moderate and severe anxiety. About 32.7% of the study sample exhibited at least three internet addiction indicators. Logistic regression analysis identified significant predictors for high levels of adolescent anxiety. Being female, family experiencing economic difficulties, and exposure to domestic violence were associated with higher risk of anxiety disorder (OR 1.78, 1.45, and 2.89, respectively). Both average daily online time and internet addiction demonstrated gradient association with high level of anxiety. Conclusion The prevalence of internet addiction and high level of anxiety were high among adolescents in Hanoi, Vietnam during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study highlights the importance of implementing measures at the family and school levels to promote a balanced and healthy approach to smart device use among adolescents.

The study was performed with three experiments. The first experiment studied respiratory rate (RR), body temperature (BT), blood physiological parameters (BPP), serum antioxidant enzyme activities (SAEA), and meat quality of 240 quails under three temperatures (38 °C, 25 °C, and environmental temperature 30 °C) and two bodyweights (heavy and lighter). Heat stress (HS) increased RR and BT of quails but had no effect on BPP; superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity was decreased in group 38 °C (P0.05). The 38 °C – G1 quail groups adapted to HS from G0 by expanding feed intake at the growing phase, improving egg weight and egg production, and maintaining the low SAEA.

Background: Cardiomyopathy, including dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), is a major cause of heart failure (HF) and a leading indication for heart transplantation. Of these patients, 20–50% have a genetic cause, so understanding the genetic basis of cardiomyopathy will provide knowledge about the pathogenesis of the disease for diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and genetic counseling for families. Methods: This study collected nine patients from different Vietnamese families for genetic analysis at The Cardiovascular Center, E Hospital, Hanoi, Vietnam. The patients were diagnosed with cardiomyopathy based on clinical symptoms. Whole-exome sequencing (WES) was performed in the Vietnamese patients to identify variants associated with cardiomyopathy, and the Sanger sequencing method was used to validate the variants in the patients’ families. The influence of the variants was predicted using in silico analysis tools. Results: Nine heterozygous variants were detected as a cause of disease in the patients, three of which were novel variants, including c.284C>G, p.Pro95Arg in the MYL2 gene, c.2356A>G, p.Thr786Ala in the MYH7 gene, and c.1223T>A, p.Leu408Gln in the DES gene. Two other variants were pathogenic variants (c.602T>C, p.Ile201Thr in the MYH7 gene and c.1391G>C, p.Gly464Ala in the PTPN11 gene), and four were variants of uncertain significance in the ACTA2, ANK2, MYOZ2, and PRKAG2 genes. The results of the in silico prediction software showed that the identified variants were pathogenic and responsible for the patients’ DCM. Conclusions: Our results contribute to the understanding of cardiomyopathy pathogenesis and provide a basis for diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and genetic counseling.

The open burning of agricultural crop residues poses a sizable threat to Southeast Asia’s near-term prosperity and long-term sustainability. Though Southeast Asia’s policymakers have adopted burning bans and other solutions to curb this threat, few studies have systematically assessed their implementation prospects. This study offers a novel data-driven assessment of those prospects in Thailand. More concretely, it estimates how much economic, technological, institutional, and social barriers could slow the implementation of burning restrictions featured in Thailand’s PM2.5 control plan. This study finds that institutional/social barriers delay implementation more than technical/economic barriers, resulting in about twice the level of PM2.5 emissions relative to an effectively implemented policy scenario over a 10- to 20-year period. This study also demonstrates that the costs of overcoming social/institutional barriers are approximately 14 million US dollars annually over a ten-year period. This figure is equivalent to about a 70% increase on the 21 million US dollars planned for controlling burning in 2026 in Thailand. The approach employed in this study—though not free of imperfections—can also be used for finer-grained comparison of the barriers/costs of managing different crop residues in Thailand and beyond.

3D printing has garnered significant attention across academia and industry due to its capability to design and fabricate complex architectures. Applications such as those requiring intricate geometries or custom designs, including footwear, healthcare, energy storage, and electronics applications, greatly benefit from exploiting 3D printing processes. Despite the recent advancement of structural 3D printing, its use in functional devices remains limited, requiring the need for the development of functional materials suitable for 3D printing in device fabrication. In this review, we briefly introduce various 3D printing techniques, including material extrusion and vat polymerization, and highlight the recent advances in 3D printing for energy and biomedical devices. A summary of future perspectives in this area is also presented. By highlighting recent developments and addressing key challenges, this review aims to inspire future directions in the development of functional devices.

Civil servants are part of the human resources of the public sector. The contingent of civil servants is an essential component of human social resources whose contributions always play a significant role in the overall socio-economic development achievements of the country and the locality. In this study, the research paradigm “citizen satisfaction with the service quality of Khmer civil servants” was used and converted with “the SERVPERF model.” Research data were collected from survey results by questionnaires from 596 citizens in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam. SPSS 20 and AMOS 24 software are used to analyze and evaluate the scale. The results of the research structure show that there are six factors affecting citizen satisfaction with the service quality of Khmer civil servants in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam, including competency, professional qualifications, profession, sense of responsibility and coordination in performing tasks, ethical qualities, working style; sense of organization and discipline; citizen service attitude; progress and results of task performance. From the research findings, the discussion proposes implications for public policy management to improve citizen satisfaction with the service quality of Khmer civil servants in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam.

The vitality of corporate social responsibility (CSR) toward sustainability has been rising rapidly in business activities. Good CSR practices are one of the most critical instruments to satisfy stakeholders’ interests and improve business performance. This study explores the nexus between economic, social, and environmental dimensions of CSR and firm performance based on a balanced scorecard. The sample includes 336 Vietnamese enterprises, excluding financial firms. The survey was conducted from March to June 2021. The empirical results of the partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) demonstrate that CSR significantly affects company performance. The economic dimensions of CSR have the strongest impact on financial performance (p < 0.01; t > 2.57; sample mean is 0.362). However, the environmental dimensions of CSR have not been found to influence customer performance. This study also finds that the three dimensions of CSR positively impact learning and growth, which lead to higher internal business processes and then better customer performance, eventually positively influencing profitable results. Consequently, the firm’s leaders should have strategies for effective CSR implementation to increase financial performance and achieve sustainable development goals. Furthermore, the government and other organizations should actively improve legal policies and regulations related to CSR in order to ensure organizational and national sustainability.
