This study explores the correlation between technology utilization and language acquisition while analyzing the impact of moderating variables on this relation. Our meta-analysis approach analyzes data from 43 extracts out of 19 primary studies published between 2012 and 2021. Our data analysis employs a random-effect model utilizing a significance level of [Alpha] = 0.05. Additionally, the authors examine four moderating variables: level of education, location of research, proficiency in language, and year of publication. Technology-based language acquisition outperforms traditional methods, indicating a significant and moderate impact on the learning process. This study enhances comprehension of the efficacy of technology in language acquisition by identifying various factors, such as the geographical location of research, methods of assessing language proficiency, and technology type employed. However, there is insufficient evidence to support the notion that educational level or sample size significantly impact technology-based language acquisition. This meta-analysis highlights the importance of considering nuanced factors when integrating technology into language learning. The findings emphasize the possibility of technology to transform methods of acquiring language and urge additional investigation into customized strategies that optimize its advantages.

At present, most students in the world, as well as Indonesia, especially senior high school students, have used the Internet for various purposes. Internet content presented on different platforms can now be accessed easily. Consciously or not, this media content influences their behavior. There is a lot of freely submitted content, which is worth knowing the impact. The question related to this study is which internet content is often used and affects high school students' behavior. Qualitative methods with phenomenology have informants from the western, central, and eastern parts of Indonesia. Data were collected using observation, Google Forms, and interviews for the selected. It uses a sampling technique of 39 informants. The validity of the research used is source triangulation in the next stage, namely analyzing data with Milles Huberman interactive analysis. Data analysis carried out is data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Content often used is entertainment and educational content, while content that can influence behavior is entertainment, education, health, food and cuisine, religious, beauty, motivational, art, and game content. The content is accessed through various platforms such as social media: YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, podcasts, etc.

Character education is also important given to autistic children. This phenomenological research aims to reveal the teacher's experience in teaching character education for autistic children. The participants in this research were 10 teachers from three exceptional schools consisting of public and private exceptional schools. In-depth interview method is used as a data collection technique. Data analysis using semantic reduction is carried out by the stages of identifying important statements from the results of the interview, determining the theme of the discussion, and describing the significance of the whole the teacher's experience. The results found that character learning for autistic children through three models, namely explanatory, practice, and intensive mentoring. The explanatory model is used to practice the ability of autistic children in terms of building children's concentration and focus. The practice model is used to train autistic children soft skills in terms of strengthening the understanding of the material and its reasoning ability. While the intensive mentoring model for training soft skills autistic children related to the ability of interpersonal relationships and confidence. Therefore, the inclusion of teacher competencies must at a minimum include pedagogical, personal, and social abilities to teach character education for autistic children.

Objective: The purpose of this narrative inquiry was to analyse the identities of a mother and her biopedagogical practices regarding physical activity as well as healthy eating. Method: The participant of the study was a mother of two children who immigrated to Aotearoa/New Zealand from Indonesia. We collected the small story through open-ended interviews, fieldnotes, and online chats. We approached the narrative data with positioning analysis to examine the participant's identities in the story. More specifically, three positioning levels recommended by Bamberg and Georgakopoulou (2008) framed our analytical work. Results: Results showed three positioning levels as well as thematic aspects surrounding the narrator's positioning. Positioning level 1 described the narrator's identities as she located herself in relation to the social networks within the told story including her children, husband, and relatives. This positioning level also culminated in a description of her familial context. On level 2, the analysis focused on her positioning and identity construction as she interacted with the researchers. The theme generated from this particular positioning level included the informal pedagogical practices for healthy living which included microtechniques of surveillance, normalisation, and regulation. The last positioning level was the narrator's positioning to establish herself regarding the master narrative, especially dominant obesity discourse. Conclusion: In short, the analysis of small stories has helped the construction of identities within the shared story as well as the thematic description surrounding each positioning level.

Industrial work culture education (IWCE) is an important component in creating vocational school graduates who are competent and able to adapt quickly in the workplace. The implementation of IWCE has not been widely studied, so this study aims to describe Indonesian vocational high school teachers' perceptions and practices concerning IWCE. This study is a phenomenological qualitative research with automotive teachers from public and private VHS that have been accredited A in the Special Region of Yogyakarta and Central Java, Indonesia. Data were collected using interview techniques, analysed using the method presented by Creswell and Poth (2019). Analysis was assisted by "Atlas Ti" software to code, determine themes and relationships between themes, and determine the conclusions of the study. Results show that (1) types of IWC applied in VHS vary and their application is not optimal; (2) teachers have a central role in the educational pattern of IWC in VHS; (3) each school has different strategies for implementing IWCE; and (4) obstacles have been identified in school aspects, regulations, teachers, infrastructure, industry and costs.

Summary: Background: In Australia the incidence of HIV has declined steadily, yet sustained reduction of HIV transmission in this setting requires improved public health responses. As enhanced public health responses and prioritisation of resources may be guided by molecular epidemiological data, here we aimed to assess the applicability of these approaches in Victoria, Australia. Methods: A comprehensive collection of HIV-1 pol sequences from individuals diagnosed with HIV in Victoria, Australia, between January 1st 2000 and December 31st 2020 were deidentified and used as the basis of our assessment. These sequences were subtyped and surveillance drug resistance mutations (SDRMs) identified, before definition of transmission groups was performed using HIV-TRACE (0.4.4). Phylodynamic methods were applied using BEAST (2.6.6), assessing effective reproductive numbers for large groups, and additional demographic data were integrated to provide a high resolution view of HIV transmission in Victoria on a decadal time scale. Findings: Based on standard settings for HIV-TRACE, 70% (2438/3507) of analysed HIV-1 pol sequences were readily assigned to a transmission group. Individuals in transmission groups were more commonly males (aOR 1.50), those born in Australia (aOR 2.13), those with probable place of acquisition as Victoria (aOR 6.73), and/or those reporting injectable drug use (aOR 2.13). SDRMs were identified in 375 patients (10.7%), with sustained transmission of these limited to a subset of smaller groups. Informative patterns of epidemic growth, stabilisation, and decline were observed; many transmission groups showed effective reproductive numbers (Re) values reaching greater than 4.0, representing considerable epidemic growth, while others maintained low Re values. Interpretation: This study provides a high resolution view of HIV transmission in Victoria, Australia, and highlights the potential of molecular epidemiology to guide and enhance public health responses in this setting. This informs ongoing discussions with community groups on the acceptability and place of molecular epidemiological approaches in Australia. Summary: Continuous assessment of the impact of SARS-CoV-2 on the host at the cell-type level is crucial for understanding key mechanisms involved in host defense responses to viral infection. We investigated host response to ancestral-strain and Alpha-variant SARS-CoV-2 infections within air-liquid-interface human nasal epithelial cells from younger adults (26–32 Y) and older children (12–14 Y) using single-cell RNA-sequencing. Ciliated and secretory-ciliated cells formed the majority of highly infected cell-types, with the latter derived from ciliated lineages. Strong innate immune responses were observed across lowly infected and uninfected bystander cells and heightened in Alpha-infection. Alpha highly infected cells showed increased expression of protein-refolding genes compared with ancestral-strain-infected cells in children. Furthermore, oxidative phosphorylation-related genes were down-regulated in bystander cells versus infected and mock-control cells, underscoring the importance of these biological functions for viral replication. Overall, this study highlights the complexity of cell-type-, age- and viral strain-dependent host epithelial responses to SARS-CoV-2.

Dengue neurological disease is an uncommon yet severe complication of dengue infection. It can manifest as encephalitis, encephalopathy, neuro-ophthalmic complications, or neuromuscular disorders. Severe infection can result in viral shedding across multiple body sites. We describe a case of severe neuro-ophthalmic dengue infection in an otherwise healthy returned traveller, presenting with prolonged multiple-body-site viral detections by PCR. The dengue virus (DENV) dynamics and serological response support a direct DENV neuropathogenicity. A retrospective review of the laboratory data at the Victorian Infectious Diseases Reference Laboratory (VIDRL) suggests that blood is the most frequent sample type with DENV detection (92% of all DENV-positive samples). Genotype variation is seen across different sample types. The similarity of CSF and nasopharyngeal DENV subtypes (genotype 1 and 3) suggests a possible correlation between nasopharyngeal replication and neurological complications. The case presented highlights the direct neuropathogenicity of DENV early in the course of infection, and a potential correlation between nasopharyngeal replication and neurological disease.

Islamic education is said to have less relevance with today's social change in society or does not provide an illustration of the sociocultural context, so students do not appreciate religious values as values that exist in everyday life. This phenomenon requires Islamic education teachers to adopt a teaching approach focusing on higher-order thinking skills (HOTS). Unfortunately, not many Islamic education teachers understand such an approach and how to implement it in their classrooms. This article is a library research study using a content analysis approach. The purpose of this article was to review the literature on HOTS and to offer Islamic education teachers the possibilities and pitfalls of employing this approach. The literature review results show that the basic thing that Islamic education teachers need to do in the 21st century is to change the orientation of their learning from Teacher Centered Learning (TCL) to Student Center Learning (SCL). Islamic education teachers need to prepare and pay attention to various aspects of implementing HOTS-based learning, from planning activities to assessment activities, which must be carried out according to the implementation procedure.

Abstract The purpose of this study was to investigate practices of raising up young athletes from a sociological perspective. In particular, I looked at how parents enacted their capitals within the contexts of youth sport as a social field. This qualitative study involved 6 participants who had experiences of parenting their children in youth sport for at least five years. Data were collected through in-depth interviews. Thematic analysis was employed to facilitate inductive analysis toward the construction of themes from the data. A computer assisted qualitative data analysis software (CAQDAS), namely ATLAS.ti 22, was utilized to help the researcher manage complex data set and achieve trustworthiness criteria. Three themes have been constructed through mainly inductive analysis. These were (1) the contextual practices of youth sport as social field, (2) economic, cultural and social capital at play in parenting practices of youth sport, and (3) capital exchange as practices within and beyond youth sport. The current study concludes that sociological thoughts on social field and capitals are advantageous to understand the social complexity of day-to-day parenting practices of youth sport. However, agenda for further studies would need to explore the field of youth sport utilizing other sociological frameworks.

Intro: In Australia, the main methods to diagnose COVID-19 are through rapid antigen tests (RATs) and through nucleic acid amplification testing (NAAT, including polymerase chain reaction) on healthcare worker (HCW)-collected combined nose/throat swabs. With self-collection widely used by the public for RATs, the aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of self-collected samples using commercial NAAT for SARS-CoV-2. Methods: Consenting participants aged 14 years and older were provided with a self-collection pack containing instructions and either a FLOQSwab (Copan) or a Rhinoswab (Rhinomed). Participants collected their own nasal sample unsupervised prior to having a HCW-collected combined nose and throat swab taken for standard of care NAAT. Paired self-collected and HCW samples were tested on the cobas SARS-CoV-2 assay (Roche) and the Aptima SARS-CoV-2 assay (Hologic). Findings: We demonstrated comparable sensitivity, specificity, and agreement between self-collected nasal and Rhinoswab samples, compared to HCW- collected samples tested using the cobas SARS-CoV-2 and Aptima SARS-CoV-2 assays. In our study the clinical performance of self-collected specimens was comparable to HCW-collected samples, with both self-collect nasal and Rhinoswab samples resulting in 90-95% sensitivity, and in most cases >95% specificity. Discussion: Without the availability of samples for NAAT the ability to perform genomic testing is limited, reducing surveillance and public health investigations. We showed that genomic sequencing from self-collected samples can correctly identify the virus lineage and that the main determination of successful genomic testing is a high viral load rather than collection method. Conclusion: These data support self-collection as an accessible method for community testing for COVID-19 and introduces a novel collection device, the Rhinoswab as an alternative to the standard nasal swab. The testing method of self-collection can be expanded from the widely used RATs to NAAT and genomic testing which may inform the management and public health response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This study aimed to investigate the beliefs among professionals in the field of physical education at the elementary level, more specifically in the context of Thailand. The participants were five exemplary elementary physical education (PE) teachers. All participants signed informed consent prior to data collection. We used semi-structured interviews to gather information on participants’ beliefs. Each interview lasted approximately 45 minutes. All interviews were audio recorded and later transcribed for analysis. Data collection occurred in two ways: (1) in-depth semi-structured interviews and (2) semi-structured follow-up interviews. Data were analyzed using a thematic coding procedure to find the significant statements related to research questions. Results showed three themes constructed from data analysis, including trends: (1) to teach the foundation of basic skills that moved beyond sport-oriented PE, (2) to consider physical education for Health and integrated physical education, and (3) to perceive limited time to deliver contemporary physical education. We conclude that the beliefs about the trends in physical education have been aligned with the global trends in physical education. These cover topic areas of skill development and health issues with a strong emphasis on physical education that serves the best interests of the children. Relevant stakeholders should then ensure that physical education will be delivered according to the interest of today’s children. Future research should seriously focus on this specific area of study, encompassing policy, program, and practice of physical education.

During a mouse plague in early 2021, a farmer from New South Wales, Australia, sought treatment for aseptic meningitis and was subsequently diagnosed with locally acquired lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus infection. Whole-genome sequencing identified a divergent and geographically distinct lymphocytic choriomeningitis virus strain compared with other published sequences.

Serological diagnostic assays are essential tools for determining an individual’s protection against viruses like SARS-CoV-2, tracking the spread of the virus in the community, and evaluating population immunity. To assess the diversity and quality of the anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody response, we have compared the antibody profiles of people with mild, moderate, and severe COVID-19 using a dot blot assay. The test targeted the four major structural proteins of SARS-CoV-2, namely the nucleocapsid (N), spike (S) protein domains S1 and S2, and receptor-binding domain (RBD). Serum samples were collected from 63 participants at various time points for up to 300 days after disease onset. The dot blot assay revealed patient-specific differences in the anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibody profiles. Out of the 63 participants with confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infections and clinical COVID-19, 35/63 participants exhibited diverse and robust responses against the tested antigens, while 14/63 participants displayed either limited responses to a subset of antigens or no detectable antibody response to any of the antigens. Anti-N-specific antibody levels decreased within 300 days after disease onset, whereas anti-S-specific antibodies persisted. The dynamics of the antibody response did not change during the test period, indicating stable antibody profiles. Among the participants, 28/63 patients with restricted anti-S antibody profiles or undetectable anti-S antibody levels in the dot blot assay also exhibited weak neutralization activity, as measured by a surrogate virus neutralization test (sVNT) and a microneutralization test. These results indicate that in some cases, natural infections do not lead to the production of neutralizing antibodies. Furthermore, the study revealed significant serological variability among patients, regardless of the severity of their COVID-19 illness. These differences need to be carefully considered when evaluating the protective antibody status of individuals who have experienced primary SARS-CoV-2 infections.

Abstract To identify newborns at risk of developing ASD and to detect ASD biomarkers early after birth, we compared retrospectively ultrasound and biological measurements of babies diagnosed later with ASD or neurotypical (NT) that are collected routinely during pregnancy and birth. We used a supervised machine learning algorithm with a cross-validation technique to classify NT and ASD babies and performed various statistical tests. With a minimization of the false positive rate, 96% of NT and 41% of ASD babies were identified with a positive predictive value of 77%. We identified the following biomarkers related to ASD: sex, maternal familial history of auto-immune diseases, maternal immunization to CMV, IgG CMV level, timing of fetal rotation on head, femur length in the 3rd trimester, white blood cell count in the 3rd trimester, fetal heart rate during labor, newborn feeding and temperature difference between birth and one day after. Furthermore, statistical models revealed that a subpopulation of 38% of babies at risk of ASD had significantly larger fetal head circumference than age-matched NT ones, suggesting an in utero origin of the reported bigger brains of toddlers with ASD. Our results suggest that pregnancy follow-up measurements might provide an early prognosis of ASD enabling pre-symptomatic behavioral interventions to attenuate efficiently ASD developmental sequels.

The use of Cryotherapy and Foam rolling methods is considered to speed up the post-exercise recovery process. However, so far there have been no studies comparing the two methods, thus the aim of this study was to compare the Cryotherapy and Foam rolling methods on performance and lactate levels in futsal athletes. This study uses an experimental method with a one-way crossover design pretest-posttest approach. The total subjects were 16 Amateur Futsal Players with an average age, 20.25 ± 1.23 years; height, 168.87 ± 2.02 cm; and weight, 54.61 ± 1.94 kg; BMI, 19.16 ± 1.01 kg/m-2. The results showed that foam rolling and cryotherapy had no effect on physical performance, but both methods could significantly reduce lactate levels. However, in this case the foam rolling method showed an improvement in the 20-meter sprint which was better than cryotherapy. Thus, the results of this study provide a recommendation for futsal athletes to use foam rolling in the post-exercise recovery process.

Plasma samples taken at different time points from donors who received either AstraZeneca (Vaxzevria) or Pfizer (Comirnaty) or Moderna (Spikevax) coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) vaccine were assessed in virus neutralization assays against Delta and Omicron variants of concern and a reference isolate (VIC31). With the Pfizer vaccine there was 6-8-fold reduction in 50% neutralizing antibody titres (NT50) against Delta and VIC31 at 6 months compared to 2 weeks after the second dose; followed by 25-fold increase at 2 weeks after the third dose. Neutralisation of Omicron was only consistently observed 2 weeks after the third dose, with most samples having titres below the limit of detection at earlier timepoints. Moderna results were similar to Pfizer at 2 weeks after the second dose, while the titres for AstraZeneca samples derived from older donors were 7-fold lower against VIC31 and below the limit of detection against Delta and Omicron. Age and gender were not found to significantly impact our results. These findings indicate that vaccine matching may be needed, and that at least a third dose of these vaccines is necessary to generate sufficient neutralising antibodies against emerging variants of concern, especially Omicron, amidst the challenges of ensuring vaccine equity worldwide.

Introduction: Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC) is the most aggressive form of breast carcinoma characterized by rapid onset of inflammatory signs and its molecular fingerprint has not yet been elucidated. Objectives: The objective of this study was to detect both gene expression levels and alternate RNA splice variants specific for IBC. Methods: W e performed splice-sensitive array profiling using Affymetrix Exon Array and quantitative RT-PCR analyses in 177 IBC compared to 183 non-IBC. BACKGROUND: Forming human resources (HR) with character is challenged by social phenomena that show degradation of morality, ethics, and morals, as well as violent extremism. This is the basic reason for the importance of the strengthening character education (SCE) movement, which involves education units, families, and communities, and education must be implemented from early childhood, especially for children who are stunted. This study aimed to describe how the strategy for SCE is based on early childhood education classes for stunted children.MATERIALS AND METHODS: This type of research is qualitative research with a phenomenological approach. The participants in this study were the headmaster and teachers of Kindergarten PGRI Donggala Regency, Indonesia, in 2022. Collecting data using a questionnaire was equipped with interviews. The data were analyzed by content analysis, namely the process of identifying, coding, and categorizing important patterns from the results of in-depth interviews.RESULTS: The results of the study showed various patterns that became research themes as strategies for strengthening SCE in early childhood including integrating character values in learning for stunted children, introduction of SCE to stunted children, SCE habituation to stunted children, strengthening SCE for stunted children, and reflection on SCE for stunted children. Various character values produced in SCE include religiosity, creativity, curiosity, hard work, honesty, discipline, friendship, social care, independence, and responsibility.CONCLUSIONS: Each school for early childhood has a learning program that focuses on developing children's abilities in terms of motor, cognitive, social–emotional, language, and religious and moral values. However, schools must also have an adequate character education program, especially in dealing with children who are stunted, social–emotional, language, and religious and moral values.

Genome sequencing can be used to infer pathogen transmission dynamics and inform public health responses. Here, the authors sequence >1,200 SARS-CoV-2 samples from Victoria, Australia and find genomic support for the effectiveness of social restrictions in reducing transmission.
