This article researches a superhydrophobic anti‐fouling material that can be used for agricultural medicine boxes, aiming to solve the problems of residual medicine, difficult recovery, and low reuse rate in medicine boxes. Double modification (volume and surface modification) is carried out on the ultra‐high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) matrix, and the high fluidity of melted snow wax is connected to UHMWPE and gas‐phase silica (SiO2) to prepare superhydrophobic composite materials U‐C‐WSiO2, achieving multiple combinations of superhydrophobicity, high mechanical properties, and high stability. The high‐strength bonding between snow wax and UHMWPE matrix acts as an adhesive, strengthening the bonding degree between silica particles and the matrix, achieving excellent superhydrophobicity, static contact angle reaches 157.0° on its surface while maintaining a relatively stable hydrophobic surface after multiple droplet impacts. In addition, unique surface modification methods endow U‐C‐WSiO2 composite materials with high stability, which can resist pesticide erosion and maintain surface corrosion resistance. This superhydrophobic composite material can solve the problem of pesticide residue in medicine boxes and has broad prospects for agricultural applications. Lonicera japonica is a commonly used Chinese herbal medicine, but few studies have focused on its pesticide residues. In this study, a quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, safe (QuEChERS) pretreatment combined with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) was established to determine 16 pesticides in L. japonica. Various factors including the type and volume of extraction solvent, times of ultrasound-assisted extraction, and type and weight of purifying agents were optimized. The established method showed good linearity with correlation coefficient (r) > 0.99 within the range of 0.01–5.0 mg·L−1, and average recoveries (AR) were 82.3%-102.5% at spiking levels of 0.01, 0.1, and 0.5 mg·kg−1 with relative standard deviations (RSD) of 0.43%-4.75%. Only bifenthrin and fenvalerate can be detected with maximum detected concentrations of 1.41 and 0.13 mg·kg−1. BACKGROUND RESULTS CONCLUSION Pediococcus acidilactici is an effective adsorbent for removing of pyrethroid insecticides. This study investigated the biosorption characteristics and mechanisms of P. acidilactici D15 using adsorption measurement, scanning electron microscopy, and Fourier‐transform infrared spectroscopy. Isotherm and kinetic models were used to analyze the biosorption process.The Langmuir isotherm model best described the cypermethrin biosorption process, with the maximum adsorption capacity of P. acidilactici D15 being 21.404 mg/g. The biosorption appeared to involve monolayer coverage with uniform forces. The pseudo‐second‐order model also fits well. The rate‐controlling steps involved intraparticle diffusion, film diffusion and chemosorption. The main cellular components involved in cypermethrin biosorption were exopolysaccharides, spheroplast, and cell wall, especially peptidoglycan. The functional groups (–OH, –NH, –CH3, –CH2, –CH, –CONH–, –CO, and –C–O–C–) from proteins, polysaccharides, and peptidoglycan on the cell surface likely played a role in binding cypermethrin. Additionally, P. acidilactici D15 effectively reduced cypermethrin in pickle wastewater.These findings suggest that P. acidilactici D15 could be a potential agent for reducing pesticide residues, laying the groundwork for treating pickle wastewater containing such pesticide residues. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry. AbstractThis study explores the enhanced photocatalytic performance of ZnO nanorods (ZnO-R) for degrading the carbaryl pesticide (CB) in wastewater. For comparison, commercial ZnO (ZnO-C) was used to evaluate the differences in the photocatalytic decomposition of CB between ZnO-R and ZnO-C. The results regarding the material properties demonstrated that ZnO-R enhances CB removal performance due to its unique rod shape, which extends light absorption and improves electron-hole separation. The removal rates of the carbaryl pesticide from the aqueous solution using ZnO-R and ZnO-C were 98.2% and 87.3%, respectively. Besides, the presence of other pesticides had a more negative impact on the performance of CB than inorganic contaminants. The degradation rates of CB using ZnO-R in wastewater were 99.8%, 68.2%, and 21.7% under UV, solar, and visible light, respectively. In addition, the degradation mechanism of CB using ZnO-R under UV light was proposed based on the n-type photocatalysis process. Microorganisms and pesticide residues are among the major health concerns associated with food products. Although ozone (O3) is currently being employed in various applications in apple processing, there are few studies investigating the effects of O3 treatments on microorganisms and pesticides in apple juice. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of O3 treatment on microorganisms, pesticide residues, and physicochemical properties of apple juice and to compare with that of classical pasteurization. O3 was as effective as pasteurization against E. coli and coliform bacteria; the counts of these microorganisms were below the detectable level after a treatment for 15 min. O3 was also effective in reducing the counts of total aerobic mesophilic bacteria and yeast-mold, but longer treatments were required for total inactivation. All the pesticides investigated were degraded by O3, but at different rates. Reduction rates were quite high (75–100%) for methoxyfenozide, dimethoate, and pyrimethanil, however, acetamiprid and imidacloprid were degraded by only 7.1% and 14.5%, respectively. O3 treatment caused drastic decreases in color and turbidity values, total phenolic content, and antioxidant activity of apple juice. Introduction: Tobacco is a critical economic crop, yet its cultivation heavily relies on chemical pesticides, posing health risks to consumers, therefore, monitoring pesticide residues in tobacco is conducive to ensuring food safety. However, most current research on pesticide residue detection in tobacco relies on traditional chemical methods, which cannot meet the requirements for real-time and rapid detection. Methods: This study introduces an advanced method that combines hyperspectral imaging (HSI) technology with machine learning algorithms. Firstly, a hyperspectral imager was used to obtain spectral data of tobacco samples, and a variety of spectral pre-processing technologies such as mean centralization (MC), trend correction (TC), and wavelet transform (WT), as well as feature extraction methods such as competitive adaptive reweighted sampling (CARS) and least angle regression (LAR) were used to process the spectral data, and then, grid search algorithm (GSA) is used to optimize the support sector machine (SVM). Results: The optimized MC-LAR-SVM model achieved a pesticide classification accuracy of 84.1%, which was 9.5% higher than the original data model. The accuracy of the WT-TC-CARS-GSA-SVM model in the fenvalerate concentration classification experiment was as high as 91.8 %, and it also had excellent performance in other metrics. Compared with the model based on the original data, the accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score are improved by 8.3 %, 8.2 %, 7.5 %, and 0.08, respectively. Discussion: The results show that combining spectral preprocessing and feature extraction algorithms with machine learning models can significantly enhance the performance of pesticide residue detection models and provide robust, efficient, and accurate solutions for food safety monitoring. Although all countries have been controlling the excessive use of pesticides, incidents of pesticide residues still existed. Electrochemical biosensors are extensively applied detection techniques to monitor pesticides with the help of different types of biorecognition components mainly including, antibodies, aptamers, enzymes (i.e., acetylcholinesterase, organophosphorus hydrolase, etc.), and synthetic molecularly imprinted polymers. Besides, the electrode materials mainly affected the sensitivity of electrochemical biosensors. Metallic nanomaterials with various structures and excellent electrical conductivity were desirable choice to construct electrochemical platforms to achieve the detection with high sensitivity and good specificity toward the target. This work reviewed the developed metallic materials including monometallic nanoparticles, bimetallic nanomaterials, metal atoms, metal oxides, metal molybdates, metal-organic frameworks, MXene, etc. Integration of recognition elements endowed the electrode materials with higher specificity toward the target pesticide. Food safety is one of the greatest public problems occurring around the world. Chemical, physical, and microbiological hazards could lead to food safety problems, which might occur at all stages of the supply chain. To tackle food safety problems and protect consumer health, specific, accurate, and rapid diagnosis techniques meeting various requirements are the imperative measures to ensure food safety. CRISPR-Cas system, a novel emerging technology, is effectively repurposed in (bio)sensing and has shown a tremendous capability to develop on-site and portable diagnostic methods with high specificity and sensitivity. Among numerous existing CRISPR/Cas systems, CRISPR/Cas13a and CRISPR/Cas12a are extensively employed in the design of biosensors, owing to their ability to cleave both non-target and target sequences. However, the specificity limitation in CRISPR/Cas has hindered its progress. Nowadays, nucleic acid aptamers recognized for their specificity and high-affinity characteristics for their analytes are incorporated into CRISPR/Cas systems. With the benefits of reproducibility, high durability, portability, facile operation, and cost-effectiveness, CRISPR/Cas-based aptasensing approaches are an ideal choice for fabricating highly specific point-of-need analytical tools with enhanced response signals. In the current study, we explore some of the most recent progress in the CRISPR/Cas-mediated aptasensors for detecting food risk factors including veterinary drugs, pesticide residues, pathogens, mycotoxins, heavy metals, illegal additives, food additives, and other contaminants. The nanomaterial engineering support with CRISPR/Cas aptasensors is also signified to achieve a hopeful perspective to provide new straightforward test kits toward trace amounts of different contaminants encountered in food samples. Smartphone-derived colorimetric tools have the potential to revolutionize food safety control by enabling citizens to carry out monitoring assays. To realize this, it is of paramount significance to recognize recent study efforts and figure out important technology gaps in terms of food security. Driven by international connectivity and the extensive distribution of smartphones, along with their built-in probes and powerful computing abilities, smartphone-based sensors have shown enormous potential as cost-effective and portable diagnostic scaffolds for point-of-need tests. Meantime, the colorimetric technique is of particular notice because of its benefits of rapidity, simplicity, and high universality. In this study, we tried to outline various colorimetric platforms using smartphone technology, elucidate their principles, and explore their applications in detecting target analytes (pesticide residues, antibiotic residues, metal ions, pathogenic bacteria, toxins, and mycotoxins) considering their sensitivity and multiplexing capability. Due to the typically high flow rate of nozzles on large sprinkler machines, direct use for pesticide application can lead to pesticide waste and non-point source pollution. To fulfill the multifunctional needs of large sprinkler machines for irrigation, fertilization, and pesticide application, this study installed atomizing micro-sprinklers on the machines to enable their pesticide application capabilities. Based on the spraying patterns of the atomizing micro-sprinklers, three types were selected for this study: hollow cone, solid cone, and fan-shaped micro-sprinklers. Three working pressure levels were set at 0.2 MPa, 0.3 MPa, and 0.5 MPa, with the height of the micro-sprinklers above the ground set at three levels: 0.8 m, 1.2 m, and 1.5 m. A completely randomized design was used for the experiment, which included hydraulic performance tests and software simulation. The results indicated that the spray volume of the hollow cone, solid cone, and fan-shaped atomizing micro-sprinklers approximately presented a hollow conical, solid conical, and normal distribution, respectively. The spray intensity (average and maximum values) of the atomizing micro-sprinklers increased with the increase in pressure, while the median showed an initial increase followed by a decrease as pressure increased. Under the same pressure conditions, the spray intensity of the different atomizing micro-sprinklers decreased with the increase in height above the ground, while the spray width increased with height. By comparing the spraying characteristics of micro-sprinklers with various patterns, large sprinkler machines can select atomizing micro-sprinklers in different spraying statuses according to actual conditions and determine the optimal height of the atomizing micro-sprinklers above the ground to achieve efficient and uniform pesticide application effects. This reduces the evaporation and drift loss of liquid medicine. Plastic mulches, fertilizers and pesticides have been extensively employed in agriculture to increase crop yields, though it has also led to the inadvertent accumulation of them over time. These accumulations have the potential to disrupt the soil ecological process and subsequently impact the plant community composition. Alien plants always benefit from environmental variability, thus whether the accumulation of fertilizer, plastic, and pesticide in soil promotes the dominance of alien plants in an invaded community. Here, five aliens and co-occurring natives were selected as study materials, and a full factorial experiment was conducted to answer this question. Our study found that microplastics promote the biomass production of native plants at higher nutrient availability while having marginal influence on growth of alien plants. Alien plants exhibited a lower root mass fraction (RMF) with increased nutrient availability and a higher specific leaf area (SLA) in response to the addition of nutrients and microplastics. Pesticide residues in the soil also significantly decreased the root mass fraction of three species, but there was no significant difference between the effects on alien and native species. Overall, our results revealed that alien species adjusted their functional traits more quickly, but native species gained more growth advantages in response to fertilization and microplastics. Rice straw is used as livestock feed and compost. Ferimzone and tricyclazole, common fungicides for rice blast control, can be found in high concentrations in rice straw after unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) spraying, potentially affecting livestock and human health through pesticide residues. In this study, an optimized method for the analysis of the two fungicides in rice straw was developed using the improved QuEChERS method. After the optimization of water and solvent volume, extraction conditions including ethyl acetate (EtOAc), acetonitrile (MeCN), a mixed solvent, and MeCN containing 1% acetic acid were compared. Different salts, including unbuffered sodium chloride, citrate, and acetate buffer salts, were compared for partitioning. Among the preparation methods, the MeCN/EtOAc mixture with unbuffered salts showed the highest recovery rates (88.1–97.9%, RSD ≤ 5.1%). To address the severe matrix effect (%ME) of rice straw, which is characterized by low moisture content and cellulose-based complex matrices, samples were purified using 25 mg each of primary–secondary amine (PSA) and octadecylsilane (C18), without pesticide loss. The developed method was validated with a limit of quantification (LOQ) of 0.005 mg/kg for target pesticides, and recovery rates at levels of 0.01, 0.1, and 2 mg/kg met the permissible range (82.3–98.9%, RSD ≤ 8.3%). The %ME ranged from −17.6% to −0.3%, indicating a negligible effect. This optimized method was subsequently applied to residue studies following multi-rotor spraying. Fungicides from all fields and treatment groups during harvest season did not exceed the maximum residue limits (MRLs) for livestock feed. A robust analytical method was developed for the simultaneous detection of 504 pesticide multiresidues in various crops using ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (UHPLC-QTOF). The method integrates both MS1 and MS2 levels through sequential window acquisition of all theoretical mass spectra (SWATH) analysis, allowing for accurate mass measurements and the construction of a spectral library to enhance pesticide residue identification. An evaluation of the method was carried out according to international standards, including the FAO guidelines and SANTE/11312/2021. Validation across five representative crops—potato, cabbage, mandarin, brown rice, and soybean—demonstrated exceptional sensitivity, with over 80% of the analytes detected at trace levels (≤2.5 μg/kg). Moreover, an impressive 96.8% to 98.8% of the compounds demonstrated LOQs of ≤10 μg/kg. Most compounds exhibited excellent linearity (r2 ≥ 0.980) and satisfactory recovery rates at spiking levels of 0.01 and 0.1 mg/kg. Among 42 crop samples analyzed, pesticides were detected in 1 cabbage, 3 mandarin, and 6 rice samples, with a mass accuracy within ±5 ppm and a Fit score ≥ 70.8, confirming the method's practical applicability and reliability. The detected residues ranged from 12.3 to 339.3 μg/kg, all below the established maximum residue limits (MRLs). Pesticides constitute a major threat to biodiversity, but our understanding of the complex interactions between local and landscape factors influencing their distribution in agroecosystems remains limited. We conducted a pioneering study where we screened spiders, rodents, plants and soils for multiple pesticide residues in perennial crops (orchards and vineyards) managed under organic (N = 8) and integrated pest management (N = 8) systems. We then quantified the proportional representation of major habitat types in surrounding landscapes. Additionally, we conducted interviews with farmers to gain precise insights into pesticide applications. We expected that landscape factors would be more important for mobile entities (i.e. spiders and rodents), while management type would be relatively more important for the sedentary entities (i.e. soils and plants). We detected various pesticides within studied crop types, including several forbidden in the European Union. We found that pesticide distribution in spiders was influenced by the proportion of semi‐natural habitats in the landscape, with pesticide concentration decreasing as the proportion of semi‐natural habitats increased. Additionally, we observed that the spectrum of pesticides in spiders increased with the dominance of web‐building spiders. In contrast, pesticide levels in rodents were not affected by either landscape composition or local management type. For plants, pesticide distribution was affected by the proportion of forests and shrublands and, to some extent, by local management practices. In the case of soil, pesticide distribution was primarily determined by local management. This study marks an effort in demonstrating that both local and landscape factors play crucial roles in shaping pesticide distribution within perennial crops. Importantly, the relative importance of these factors varied across the four matrices investigated. Synthesis and applications: To comprehend the factors that determine pesticide distribution in crops, it is crucial to monitor diverse ecosystem components rather than focusing on a few model species. This approach underscores the necessity for ecologically sensitive management at landscape scale. Such management should involve the preservation and enhancement of (semi)natural habitats around crops. Background: A hospital-based cross-sectional case-control study was conducted to investigate the association between exposure through various pesticide residues detected in the plasma and serum 8-OHdG levels among farmers and non-farmers diagnosed with leukaemia, lymphoma and breast cancers and compare the same with healthy controls with no cancer and no exposure. Methodology: The present study was conducted among the farmers and non-farmers visiting a regional tertiary cancer care hospital in Hyderabad, Telangana State, India. Data were collected by administering a pre-tested questionnaire through an interview followed by the collection of blood samples which were analyzed for pesticide residues using LC-MS/MS while the serum levels of 8-OHdG were measured using ELISA. Data were analyzed using SPSS 24. Results: The pesticide residues detected were chlorpyrifos, dimethoate, malathion, phosalone, and quinalphos which were approved and recommended for their use on the crops that were cultivated by the farmers in their plasma samples along with banned pesticide residues like monocrotophos, diazinon, and dichlorvos among farmers diagnosed with all three types of cancers while the non-farmers and healthy controls were not detected with any such residues. In addition, farmers diagnosed with leukemia had higher levels of all the pesticide residues in their plasma than those diagnosed with lymphoma and breast cancers. Further, a significant difference was also observed between profenofos residues in plasma and serum 8-OHdG levels. Conclusion: In the present study, though the farmers diagnosed with three types of cancers were detected with various types of pesticide residues analysed, only residues of profenofos showed a significant difference with serum levels of 8-OHdG suggesting the need for an in-depth follow up molecular studies in a larger cohort to assess the possible association between 8-OHdG levels with the pesticide residues among the exposed. Pesticides are chemicals used to enhance crop production. However, their residues can persist and accumulate in various environmental settings. This study assessed the occurrence of pesticide residues and ecological risks in surface water and sediment from the Libga and Builpela dams in northern Ghana. A total of 42 pesticides were analysed. Toxic units were used to assess the acute risk to sediment-dwelling organisms and aquatic biota. Risk quotients were employed to assess the chronic risk to aquatic organisms. Chlorpyrifos, atrazine, profenofos, and chlorfenvinphos were the main chemicals found in surface water. The concentrations were highest near the Builpela dam (0.413μg/L, 2.927μg/L, 0.304μg/L, 0.692μg/L, 0.073μg/L, 0.290μg/L, 0.06μg/L, and absent in the Libga dam). In the sediment, the organophosphates pyrimiphos-methyl and chlorpyrifos were found at high concentrations. They were found in higher quantities in the Libga dam (0.554mg/kg and 0.052mg/kg, respectively) and Builpela dam (0.051mg/kg and 0.043mg/kg, respectively). For organochlorines, p,p'-DDE and p,p'-DDD were the main residues detected at high concentrations. However, concentrations were higher for p,p'-DDD at Builpela than for p,p'-DDE. Additionally, high concentrations of atrazine were detected in this study. The toxic units showed a high acute risk for organisms that live in sediment as a result of chlorpyrifosfos and chlorfenvinphos residues. Similarly, pirimiphos-methyl and chlorfenvinphos, followed by chlorpyrifos, contributed to high acute risk in aquatic invertebrates. Risk quotients showed that both dams had a high long-term risk for aquatic life; however, the risk was higher at the Builpela dam due to Pirimiphos-methyl and Chlorfenvinphos. Ghana's pesticide regulations are less comprehensive and enforcement is often weaker in protecting aquatic organisms. It is recommended to enforce strict limits on pesticide residues. AbstractTomato is one of the most widely produced vegetables in Ethiopia. Year-round production, mono-cropping, and genetically uniform hybrid varieties in relatively large areas result in pest buildup and recurrent pest epidemics in the country. Chemical control remains the primary management option for controlling tomato pests, and frequently indiscriminate and injudicious use of pesticides leads to several problem such as resistance development in insects/pathogens, destruction of natural enemies, food safety risks due to pesticide residues on the edible products and destruction of pollinators resulting in the non-setting of fruits and low yields. Multi-location and multi-season trials were conducted at Rift-Valley tomato production sites to reduce synthetic pesticides and promote good agricultural practice (GAP) packages. GAP package composed of healthy seedlings produced using seedling trays and treated with Trichoderma asperellum, and scheduled spray of bio-pesticides such as Beauveria bassiana, Lecanicillium lecanii, Metarhizium anisopliae, and neem extract depending on the insect pests at early infestation time, along with the installation of colored sticky traps (yellow and blue) significantly reduced Phthorimaea (Tuta) absoluta and increased marketable yield compared to the farmers’ practice and untreated control. AbstractCircular feeds, such as grain dry distillers, citrus pulp, cane molasses, and potatoes peels, are co-products of biomass processes. They are currently proposed in animal nutrition to improve the environmental and economic sustainability of the food production chain. In this paper, we report a case study involving fipronil, a pesticide currently not authorized for agriculture within the EU, but used in the Americas, Eastern Europe, and Asia. Fipronil was found at a mean level of 0.49 mg/kg, in a grain dry distiller batch administered to dairy cows. This finding, along with other evidence of potential fipronil presence in feed materials, prompted us to evaluate the risk to food safety and food security from 12 different conventional and sustainable feeding regimens. To this purpose, we considered a fipronil feed-to-milk carry-over rate of 0.52, the tolerance levels in fodders and food from The EU, Codex Alimentarius, and US-EPA, and the Acceptable Daily Intake (ADI) of 0.0002 mg/kg body weight for adverse effects on thyroid function in dairy cows. Under a conservative scenario, fipronil-contaminated potato peels and grain distillers in the feeding regimens may play a pivotal role in exceeding the EU Maximum Residue Level (MRL) in bovine milk and fat (0.005 and 0.030 mg/kg, respectively). Hay-based diets with soybean hulls and cane molasses show negligible risks (Hazard Index ∼ 1). However, most current research on pesticide residue detection in tobacco relies on traditional chemical methods, which cannot meet the requirements for real-time and rapid detection. Methods: This study introduces an advanced method that combines hyperspectral imaging (HSI) technology with machine learning algorithms. Firstly, a hyperspectral imager was used to obtain spectral data of tobacco samples, and a variety of spectral pre-processing technologies such as mean centralization (MC), trend correction (TC), and wavelet transform (WT), as well as feature extraction methods such as competitive adaptive reweighted sampling (CARS) and least angle regression (LAR) were used to process the spectral data, and then, grid search algorithm (GSA) is used to optimize the support sector machine (SVM). Results: The optimized MC-LAR-SVM model achieved a pesticide classification accuracy of 84.1%, which was 9.5% higher than the original data model. The accuracy of the WT-TC-CARS-GSA-SVM model in the fenvalerate concentration classification experiment was as high as 91.8 %, and it also had excellent performance in other metrics. Compared with the model based on the original data, the accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score are improved by 8.3 %, 8.2 %, 7.5 %, and 0.08, respectively. Discussion: The results show that combining spectral preprocessing and feature extraction algorithms with machine learning models can significantly enhance the performance of pesticide residue detection models and provide robust, efficient, and accurate solutions for food safety monitoring. Exposure to pesticide residues during the first 1000 days of life can disrupt body homeostasis and contribute to chronic metabolic diseases. Perinatal chlorpyrifos (CPF) exposure alters gut microbiota (GM) balance, potentially affecting offspring's health. Given the GM influence on brain function, the primary aim is to determine if pesticide-induced dysbiosis (microbial imbalance) affects indirectly other organs, such as the blood–brain barrier (BBB). The secondary objective is to evaluate the prebiotics protective effects, particularly inulin in promoting microbial balance (symbiosis), in both mothers and offspring. A total of 15 or more female rats were divided in 4 groups: control, oral CPF-exposed (1 mg/kg/day), exposed to inulin (10 g/L), and co-exposed to CPF and inulin from pre-gestation until weaning of pups. Samples from intestines, spleen, liver, and brain microvessels underwent microbiological and biomolecular analyses. Bacterial culture assessed GM composition of living bacteria and their translocation to non-intestinal organs. RT qPCR and Western blotting detected gene expression and protein levels of tight junction markers in brain microvessels. CPF exposure caused gut dysbiosis in offspring, with decreased Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium and increased Escherichia coli (p < 0.01) leading to bacterial translocation to the spleen and liver. CPF also decreased tight junction's gene expression levels (50 to 60% decrease of CLDN3, p < 0.05). In contrast, inulin partially mitigated these adverse effects and restored gene expression to control levels. Our findings demonstrate a causal link between GM alterations and BBB integrity disruptions. A total of 30 samples of filet green beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) from various popular markets in the Souss-Massa region (Morocco) were analyzed during 2021 for the presence of pesticide residues. We performed a QuEChERS extraction (Quick, Easy, Cheap, Effective, Rugged, and Safe) combined with Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LC–MS/MS) and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC–MS/MS). The method was validated in accordance with SANTE 11312/2021 guidelines. The results of this survey indicated that 8 out of 30 green bean samples are positives (0.015 to 0.112 mg/kg). Azoxystrobin was the most frequently detected pesticide, occurring in 5 samples. For authorized pesticides, none of the samples exceeded the European Maximum residue level (EU MRL) in green beans, but residue of fipronil-unauthorized substance was detected in one sample at 0.027 mg/kg. The extensive utilization of chlorpyrifos and cypermethrin in agriculture raises concerns regarding the accumulation of pesticide residues in human food, posing a threat to human health. This study aimed to investigate the effect of ozonation on cauliflower to decrease the level of pesticides. Cypermethrin and organophosphate chlorpyrifos were applied to cauliflower at specific doses. High-performance liquid chromatographic techniques were employed to detect pesticide residues in cauliflower. The effects of common oxidizers (hydrogen peroxide, chlorine, and ozone) on the reduction of pesticide residues were investigated. Solutions of hydrogen peroxide (10 and 100 ppm), chlorine (10 and 100 ppm), and ozone (10 and 100 ppm) were prepared, and the cauliflower sample was immersed for 20 min. The immersion in 10 ppm hydrogen peroxide solution reduced chlorpyrifos and cypermethrin by 68 and 65%, respectively. Meanwhile, at 100 ppm hydrogen peroxide solution, the reduction rates of chlorpyrifos and cypermethrin residues were 72 and 75%, respectively. Immersion in ozone solution at 10 ppm concentration reduced chlorpyrifos and cypermethrin by 58 and 57%, respectively. At 100 ppm ozone, chlorpyrifos was reduced up to 64%, and cypermethrin reduction was 74%. Chlorine immersion at 10 ppm reduced chlorpyrifos residues by 68% and cypermethrin residues by 81%, while a 100 ppm chlorine solution reduced chlorpyrifos residues by 100% and cypermethrin residues by 84%. To address the challenges posed by chemical methods for detecting pesticide residues in sorghum, such as complicated sample preparation and prolonged detection periods, this study presents a rapid and nondestructive detection approach based on hyperspectral imaging (HSI) technology. A group of sorghum without pesticide residues and three groups uniformly sprayed with pesticides were used in this study. Firstly, support vector machine (SVM) classification models were built using spectral data preprocessed with Savitzky–Golay (SG), discrete wavelet transform (DWT), and standard normal variate (SNV) methods, respectively, and SNV was determined to be the best preprocessing method. Secondly, the gradient boosting decision tree (GBDT) algorithm, principal component analysis (PCA), and the successive projections algorithm (SPA) were respectively used to extract feature wavelengths. Pesticide residue identification models based on full and feature wavelengths were then respectively established using backpropagation neural network (BPNN), SVM, and partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS‐DA). The results show that the BPNN model developed using the feature wavelengths obtained from GBDT was the best for identification of pesticide residues, with an accuracy of 97.8% for both the training and testing sets. Finally, visualization of pesticide residue species in sorghum was achieved using the optimal model. This study demonstrates that utilizing HSI in conjunction with the GBDT‐BPNN model is an effective, rapid, and nondestructive method for identifying pesticide residues in sorghum. This paper highlights the progress made by the Joint FAO/WHO Meeting on Pesticide Residues (JMPR), the European Union European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Japanese Pharmaceutical Affairs and Food Sanitation Council (PAFSC) on the residues risk assessment of glufosinate-ammonium registration on transgenic crops, focusing on the metabolism of glufosinate-ammonium in transgenic crops, the animal metabolism, the methods of residue analysis, storage stability, supervised residue trials, toxicological evaluation, residue definitions, and maximum residue limit (MRL) setting were summarized and analyzed. Compared with non-genetically modified crops, new metabolic pathways have emerged after the use of glufosinate-ammonium in transgenic crops. The metabolite N-acetyl-glufosinate (NAG) is the main residue of glufosinate-ammonium in transgenic crops, and thus relevant countries and organizations have included it in the residue definition of glufosinate-ammonium. The higher residue levels of glufosinate-ammonium in transgenic crops than in non-genetically modified crops are mainly related to the technical characteristics of glufosinate-ammonium use on transgenic crops and the emergence of new metabolites. Currently, no distinction is made between non-genetically modified crops and transgenic crops on MRLs for glufosinate-ammonium. This study assessed the presence of eight pesticide residues in the Indus River, Mianwali, Pakistan, focusing on three sampling sites (S1, S2, and S3) in water, sediment, and the fish species Cyprinus carpio during both dry and wet seasons. Analysis was conducted using gas chromatography with an electron capture detector. Results indicated elevated pesticide concentrations in both seasons, with levels of 0.84 and 0.62 μg/L in water, 12.47 and 9.21 μg/g/dw in sediment, and 17.33 and 12.17 μg/g/ww in fish, with higher concentrations observed during the dry season. Cypermethrin and carbofuran were the primary pesticides detected in water, while endosulfan and cypermethrin were dominant in sediment and fish tissue, often exceeding standard safety thresholds. Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and cluster analysis revealed stronger correlations between sediment and fish muscle, with varying associations among pesticides across seasons. The Hazard Index (HI) surpassed 1 in both seasons, signaling potential health risks to humans. A comprehensive LC-MS/MS method, which employs Positive Electrospray Ionization (PEI) and Multiple Reaction Monitoring (MRM) was developed for the simultaneous determination of 35 pesticides belonging to various chemical classes in tomato, brinjal, chili, and okra samples. Extraction was facilitated using a modified QuEChERS method, which allows efficient sample analysis in a single run. Calibration curves for each pesticide exhibited linearity within the concentration range of 0.0025 to 0.1 µg mL−1, with correlation coefficients ranging from 0.993 to 0.999. Mean recoveries at five fortification levels (0.01 to 0.5 µg kg−1) ranged from 80 to 90%, demonstrating satisfactory precision (RSD < 20%). The matrix effects, mitigated through an optimized cleanup process, were observed within the range of 6.42% to 19.52%. The developed method having the limit of quantification of 0.01 mg kg−1 for all 35 pesticides, proved to be highly sensitive and rapid for multi-residue estimation in diverse vegetable samples. Pesticide residues seriously impact food safety and environmental protection. In recent years, optical aptamer sensors have emerged as highly sensitive and fast-response sensing platforms for pesticide detection. An effective and sensitive SERS substrate (TPDH-COF/Au NPs) on a covalent organic framework (TPDH-COF) decorated with gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) was fabricated via electrostatic self-assembly and successfully applied for the determination of thiabendazole (TBZ) in fruit juice. The "raspberry-like" structure SERS substrate combined the properties of the abundant "hot spots" between the Au NPs and the adsorption performance of TPDH-COFs for trace analytes. Excellent SERS performance was observed, which achieved a high enhancement factor value of 2.01 × 108 for rhodamine 6 G, with considerable reproducibility and excellent long-term stability of at least 28 d. The limit of detection was estimated to be 5 ppb for TBZ in fruit juice. Background There is growing concern of the potential damage to vital organs after long term exposure to locally formulated pesticides in rural area of Nigeria. This study was designed to assessed the effects of the individual chemical compound and their combination on the kidney and liver of rats' model. Methodology Fifty-four rats divided into six groups and three sub-groups were exposed to 25, 50 and 75% dose of each of the pesticide's LD50 for 4 h at 3 days interval in an inhalation chamber for 28 days. Alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP), total bilirubin (TOT_BIL), creatinine and urea assay showed significant increase at the aforementioned doses in comparison to the control group. The red blood cell counts, hematocrit and hemoglobin concentrations were significantly altered in the rats administered varying doses of the pesticides when compared with the control. Similar result was obtained for the differential white blood cell counts. Histopathological examinations of the liver tissue of rats showed infiltrated sinusoids, traces of karypyknosis, vacuolar degeneration and microvesicular steatosis while that of the renal tissue showed glomeruli atrophy leading to widened Bowman's spaces as well as few shrunken glomeruli and varied level of degenerative tubular changes to tubular necrosis. Conclusion This study established that individual pesticides and their mixture is toxic to the liver and kidney, as evidenced by the elevated markers of renal and liver functions and distortion of the structure of both organs as revealed by their photomicrographs. Therefore, it is a matter of public health significance to regularly monitor pesticide residues in foods and humans in order to assess the food safety risk and population exposure to pesticides. Gas Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS/MS) with modified QuEChERS sample preparation has been applied to the high-throughput screening of pesticide residuals in rice collected from Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia markets. Both countries consume high volumes of rice, which is a fundamental food for their populations. We report optimized sample preparation and mass spectrometry analysis protocols, which can be rapidly deployed in analytical laboratories. The screening of four groups (organophosphorus, synthetic pyrethroid, organonitrogen, and organochlorine) of a total of 115 pesticides can be performed within ~10 min using a matrix-matched calibration. For most compounds, the limits of detection and quantification (LOD/LOQ) are well below the maximum residue levels (MRLs) of the main regulators. The method generally demonstrates acceptable recovery values (91 compounds 75–125% and 10 compounds 30–75%). Out of 55 rice samples analyzed, 16 samples (29%) contained pesticide residues above LOQ. Four samples contained chlorpyrifos with concentrations ranging from 21.3 to 71.9 µg/kg, ten samples contained tebuconazole (34.7–69.0 µg/kg), and three samples contained pirimiphos methyl (10.7–20.7 µg/kg). The concentrations of the pesticide residues detected in these samples are well below MRL of FAO/WHO (chlorpyrifos, 500 µg/kg; tebuconazole, 1500 µg/kg; pirimiphos methyl, 7000 µg/kg). This review summarizes key advancements in pesticide detection sensors based on AIEgens, detailing their luminescence mechanisms and fluorescence sensing principles. It explores various applications of AIEgens in fluorescence sensors, including organic small-molecule sensors, nanocomposite sensors, metal-organic framework sensors, supramolecular sensors, fluorescent porous organic polymer sensors, and lateral flow immunoassay sensors, with specific examples illustrating their detection mechanisms and performance. This review also discusses current challenges and future perspectives for the development of these sensors. We anticipate that this review will serve as a valuable and timely resource for researchers working to advance the development and application of AIEgens-based sensors in pesticide detection. Kuttanad is a unique wetland agriculture system featuring polder-based rice cultivation below sea level. Facing increasing pollution threats from agrochemicals, this FAO-recognized Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS) needs constant monitoring and risk assessment. The present study investigated the seasonal dynamics of agricultural pesticide residues in fish cultured in the wetland system. A total of 217 fish samples were analyzed, spanning three different sampling stations of Kuttanad, viz., Vaikom, Ramankari, and Edathua, during pre-monsoon, monsoon, and post-monsoon seasons. The results revealed the presence of 14 pesticides across locations and seasons. The pesticides found in the highest concentrations were propetamphos (54.64 mg L−1), thiacloprid (46.78 mg L−1), and diphenylamine (24.70 mg L−1). The most frequently detected pesticides were propoxur, fenuron, and thiacloprid. Contaminants were detected more frequently during the post-monsoon season (49%) compared to the monsoon (38%) and pre-monsoon (13%) seasons, with imidacloprid being present in all three seasons. The target hazard quotients (THQ) for propetamphos, thiacloprid, and diphenylamine were determined to be 0.04, 0.004, and 0.0002, respectively. The hazard index (HI) calculated as the sum of THQ of quantified pesticides was 0.056, indicating a low to moderate risk. Dichlorvos (DDVP) is an organophosphorus pesticide commonly used in agriculture for pest control, which may enter the organism from the food chain and cause harm. This study aimed to investigate the mitigation effect of Lactiplantibacillus plantarum CCFM8661 (a strain of the bacteria) on DDVP toxicity. Sixty male mice were randomly divided into five groups including control (saline), model (DDVP), low-dose, medium-dose, and high-dose groups, and alleviating effect was evaluated by determining body weight, pesticide residues, oxidative stress, and inflammation, and by histological analysis. The results showed that compared with the model group, body weight and acetylcholinesterase activity, and SOD, CAT, T-AOC, and GSH levels significantly increased, and serum DDVP content, MDA level, IL-1β, and TNF-α significantly decreased after administration of the L. plantarum CCFM8661. The study demonstrated that L. plantarum CCFM8661 exhibited a significant detoxification effect on pesticide toxicity in mice, providing a theoretical basis for the application of probiotics in mitigating pesticide-induced damage. Pesticide residues in human diets pose significant health hazards, particularly for vulnerable populations such as infants and children. This study aimed to determine pesticide residues in apples and to assess the cumulatively chronic risk posed to adult and child consumers from simultaneous exposure to multiple residues. During the 2022–2023 harvest seasons, 100 apple samples from Turkey were analyzed for the presence of 225 different pesticide residues. Pesticide extraction was performed using the QuEChERS method, followed by detection through liquid chromatography coupled with tandem mass spectrometry. Fifteen distinct pesticides (ten insecticides and five fungicides) were detected in 64 out of the 100 apple samples analyzed. Eleven samples contained pesticide residues that exceeded the maximum residue limit (MRL) set by the Turkish Food Codex and the European Union. Thiophanate-methyl was the most frequently detected pesticide (34%) in apples, with concentrations ranging from 0.012 to 0.108 mg kg−1, all of which were well below the MRL of 0.5 mg kg−1. Other commonly detected residues included chlorantraniliprole (28%), acetamiprid (24%), sulfoxaflor (22%), bifenazate (18%), indoxacarb (13%), diflubenzuron (12%), and carbendazim (10%). Under a worst-case scenario, the hazard index (HI) values for adults and children were 0.85% and 2.60%, respectively, indicating that these values remain significantly below the risk threshold of 100%, suggesting no associated health risks from apple consumption. The consequences of climate change along with diverse food regulations and agricultural practices worldwide are complexifying the occurrence and management of chemical contaminants in food. In this context, we present an ultra-high-performance liquid chromatography high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC-HRMS) approach for the simultaneous identification and quantitation of over 1100 pesticide residues, mycotoxins, and plant toxins in cereals and fruits and vegetables. Analytical conditions were optimized to maximize the scope of the targeted molecules, the reliability of compound identification, and quantification performance within a single method. The method was further transferred and validated in another laboratory to assess its ruggedness. Validation according to the SANTE 11312/2021v2 guidelines showed that 92% and 98% of the molecules fulfill the quantification criteria at the lowest validated level in the cereals and fruits and vegetables groups, respectively. Analysis of fifteen certified reference materials led to a 96% satisfactory rate of z-scores confirming method's competitiveness. Furthermore, the occurrence of these contaminants was studied in 205 cereals and grains samples collected worldwide. The low µg/kg quantification limits make this LC-HRMS method a valuable tool to ensure compliance toward regulations and to screen for non-regulated substances for which occurrence data are crucial for an appropriate risk evaluation. In view of the characteristics of pesticide residues, such as multiple types, high matrix interference and slow detection speed, in this work, a rapid detection method for pesticide residues in rice was studied by using isoprothiolane, propanil and flutolanil as examples. Improved quick, easy, cheap, effective, rugged, and safe (QuEChERS) method was used as rice pretreatment method, and linear range and matrix effect of each pesticide were obtained through analysis of ion mobility spectral data of standard solutions and spiked solutions. Within the linear range, the mixed solutions of the three pesticides were prepared, and concentrations were predicted by partial least squares regression (PLSR) analysis. Feature extraction and data fusion of ion mobility spectra in positive and negative ionization modes were required, and the prediction error was 6.77%. QuEChERS method can rapidly pretreat samples, the measurement speed of ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) is fast, so the combination of them offers advantages that include simple sample preparation, rapid analysis, high sensitivity, robustness, green properties, and low-cost. Feature extraction and data fusion can analyze data from both positive and negative ionization modes, providing more comprehensive information and saving analysis time compared to individual data analysis. PLSR can accurately predict the content of pesticide with similar ion mobility spectra. The combined analysis technology of QuEChERS, IMS, and PLSR established in this work was expected to become a new technology for rapid detection of pesticide residues in rice with the concentration higher than 0.3 mg/kg. This study investigated the technological parameters, microbiological, and functional properties of juice from Solaris grapes grown under conventional and organic farming systems to assess how these cultivation methods influence juice quality. The one-year study focused on key aspects such as the levels of health-promoting polyphenols, the presence of mycotoxins, and pesticide residues. Organic grapes showed greater bacterial and fungal diversity, with significant differences in dominant genera. Sphingomonas and Massilia were the predominant bacteria across both systems, while Erysiphe was more common in conventional grapes, and Aureobasidium was abundant in both. Despite the presence of genes for mycotoxin production, no mycotoxins were detected in the juice or pomace. Organic juice exhibited significantly higher levels of polyphenols, leading to enhanced antioxidant properties and improved technological characteristics, including lower acidity and higher nitrogen content. However, residues of sulfur and copper, used in organic farming, were detected in the juice, while conventional juice contained synthetic pesticide residues like cyprodinil and fludioxonil. These findings highlight that while organic juice offers better quality and safety in terms of polyphenol content and antioxidant activity, it also carries risks related to residues from organic treatments, and conventional juice poses risks due to synthetic pesticide contamination. In this study, the effects of bamboo charcoal (BBC) and coconut shell charcoal (CSC) on the adsorption and degradation of 3,5-dichloroaniline (3,5-DCA) in soil were investigated by batch equilibrium and soil incubation experiments. The pot experiment was conducted to study the effects of BBC and CSC on the uptake and bioaccumulation of 3,5-DCA in chives (Allium ascalonicum). The adsorption capacity of CSC and BBC to 3,5-DCA depended on their specific surface area and total pore volume, and the adsorption mechanism was mainly physical. Two types of biochar delayed the degradation of 3, 5-DCA in the soil and were positively correlated with their dose. Biochar effectively alleviated the negative effects of 3,5-DCA on plant height and fresh weight of chive, with a decreasing order of CSC > BBC. Compared with the control, the accumulation of 3,5-DCA in chives decreased by 36.44% ~ 65.70% and 36.05% ~ 68.12%, respectively, with the addition of 0.1% ~ 1.0% BBC and CSC. These two types of biochar increased the adsorption capacity and persistence of 3,5-DCA in soil but alleviated biotoxicity and reduced accumulation in chive plants. Analysis of trapped honey bee pollen for pesticide residues is the most widely used method of monitoring the amount of pesticide entering colonies and its change over time. In this study, we collected and analyzed pollen from 70 sites across four bee-pollinated crops over two years to characterize the variation in pesticide detection across sites, crops and at different periods during bloom. Hazard Quotient, HQ, is the most common way that pesticide residues are aggregated into a single pesticide hazard value in the current literature. Therefore, change in pesticide hazard (HQ) was quantified in composite pollen samples collected from pollen traps and in pollen color subsamples separated into pollen from the target crop being pollinated and pollen from other plant species. We used our estimates of the variation in HQ to calculate the number of sample location sites needed to detect a 5% annual change in HQ across all crops or within specific crops over a 5-year period. The number of sites required to be sampled varied by crop and year and ranged between 139 and 7194 sites, costing an estimated $129,548 and $3.35 million, respectively. The HQ values detectable for this cost would be 575 and 154. We identified additional factors that complicate the interpretation of the results as a way to evaluate changes in pest management practices at a state level. First, in all but one crop (meadowfoam), the pollen collected from outside the crop honey bee colonies were pollinating comprised a major percentage of the total pollen catch. Moreover, we found that when the overall quantity of pollen from different pollen sources was taken into account, differences in HQ among crops widened. We also found that while HQ estimates remain consistent across the bloom period for some crops, such as cherry, we observed large differences in other crops, notably meadowfoam. Overall, our results suggest the current practice of interpreting pesticides levels in pollen may come with limitations for agencies charged with improving pesticide stewardship due to the high variation associated with HQ values over time and across crops. Despite the limitations of HQ for detecting change in pesticide hazard, there remains a potential for HQ to provide feedback to regulators and scientists on field-realistic pesticide hazard within a landscape. This study analysed pesticide residues in cauliflower (Brassica oleracea botrytis) and bitter gourd (Momordica charantia), two widely consumed vegetables in Bangladesh, and assessed the associated human health risks. Vegetables were analysed using a modified QuEChERS extraction, followed by gas chromatography with flame thermionic and electron capture detectors. Results showed that in 36.7% of the samples pesticide residues were detected, 90.9% of which exceeding the MRLs of the European Commission, so highlighting serious food safety concerns. Multiple residues were detected in some samples, with chlorpyrifos being the most common present, followed by diazinon, dimethoate and quinalphos. Human health risks, calculated by estimated daily intake and hazard index, indicated potential non-carcinogenic risks from the present pesticides. Bionanofertilizers are promising eco-friendly alternative to chemical fertilizers, leveraging nanotechnology and biotechnology to enhance nutrient uptake by plants and improve soil health. They consist of nanoscale materials and beneficial microorganisms, offering benefits such as enhanced seed germination, improved soil quality, increased nutrient use efficiency, and pesticide residue degradation, ultimately leading to improved crop productivity. Bioactive ingredients are part of the food chain and are responsible for numerous health benefits. Subcritical low temperature extraction has been employed to acquire bioactive ingredients because of its excellent properties, such as energy conservation, low temperature, elimination of residual solvent, and high extraction yield and quality. This review aims to provide a clear picture of the basics of subcritical-temperature extraction, its bioactive ingredient extraction efficiency, and possible applications in the agro-food industry. This review suggested that the extraction temperature, time, co-solvents, solid-fluid ratio, and pressure impacted the extraction efficiency of bioactive ingredients from foods and food by-products. Subcritical solvents are appropriate for extracting low polar ingredients, while the inclusion of co-solvents could extract medium and high polar substances. Bioactive ingredients from foods and food by-products can be used as antioxidants, colorants, and nutritional supplements. Additionally, this technology could remove pesticide residues in tea, concentrate edible proteins, and reduce cigarette tar. A sensitive platform was constructed for on-site detection of chlorpyrifos by immobilizing a core–shell structured NaYbF 4 @NaYF 4 : Yb3+, Tm3+ UCNPs/MnO 2 composite in calcium alginate hydrogel kit. Specifically, the designed UCNPs fluorescent probe (NaYbF 4 @NaYF 4 : Yb3+, Tm3+) has the blue-violet emission. After mixing with MnO 2 nanoflakes, the blue-violet upconversion (UC) emission is quenched. Thiocholine (TCh), formed through acetylcholinesterase (AChE)-mediated catalysis, reduces MnO 2 nanoflakes to Mn2+ ions, thereby restoring the system's fluorescence. The introduction of chlorpyrifos inhibits AChE activity, accompanied by the quenching of the fluorescence signal. Based on the blue-violet UC emission signal response to chlorpyrifos, fluorescent photos were taken by smartphones. Utilizing a Python-assisted analysis platform, a "one-run" operation simultaneously captures image grayscale values, gray images, and differentiated pseudo-color images related to pesticide concentrations, enabling real-time and rapid quantitative analysis of pesticides. [Display omitted] On-site quantitative analysis of pesticide residues is crucial for monitoring environmental quality and ensuring food safety. Herein, we have developed a reliable hydrogel portable kit using NaYbF 4 @NaYF 4 : Yb, Tm upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) combined with MnO 2 nanoflakes. This portable kit is integrated with a smartphone reader and Python-assisted analysis platform to enable sample-to-result analysis for chlorpyrifos. The novel UCNPs maximizes energy donation to MnO 2 acceptor by employing 100 % of activator Yb3+ in the nucleus for NIR excitation energy collection and confining emitter Tm3+ to the surface layer to shorten energy transfer distance. Under NIR excitation, efficient quenching of upconversion blue-violet emission by MnO 2 nanoflakes occurs, and the quenched emission is recovered with acetylcholinesterase-mediated reactions. This process allows for the determination of chlorpyrifos by inhibiting enzymatic activity. The UCNPs/MnO 2 were embedded to fabricate a hydrogel portable kit, the blue-violet emission images captured by smartphone were converted into corresponding gray values by Python-assisted superiority chart algorithm which achieves a real-time rapid quantitative analysis of chlorpyrifos with a detection limit of 0.17 ng mL−1. At the same time, pseudo-color images were also added by Python in "one run" to distinguish images clearly. The presence of pesticides in milk is a serious concern at the global level, which can threaten human health. Detection of pesticides in milk is a challenge due to their small concentration and large amounts of other interfering substances that can be co-extracted along with the pesticides. In this study, we have compared two variants (original and acetate) of quick, cheap, effective and safe (QuEChERS) method to evaluate the efficiency and suitability of these methods for the extraction of organochlorine and organophosphorous residues from milk using GC-MS/MS. The acetate method was found to be more efficient in terms of recovery of all the studied pesticides, except monocrotophos. It resulted in good linearity (R² > 0.9928% in matrix and >0.9940% in solvent), recovery (71.69%-99.38%) over the range 10-250 ng/ml and precision of RSD% < 20%. This method can be easily applied for the extraction of pesticide residues in milk and its products, and further quantification using GC-MS/MS in the dairy sector. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
