Search

Metabarcoding is invaluable for understanding trophic interactions, enabling high-resolution and rapid dietary assessments. However, it requires a robust DNA barcode reference library for accurate taxa identification. This dataset has been generated in the framework of the InBIO Barcoding Initiative (IBI) and Agrivole project. The integration of these two projects was crucial, as Agrivole aimed to investigate the trophic niche of small mammals in Trás-os-Montes Region through DNA metabarcoding, which required a reliable plant DNA barcode library for this same region. Given the large number of species not yet represented in international databases, a survey of local plants was essential to fill this gap. Thus, this study created an accurate DNA reference database for the plants of the Trás-os-Montes Region of Portugal.The current DNA reference database contains 632 vascular plant samples, all morphologically identified and belonging to 435 species. This represents 14% and 38.7% of the total known plant species for Portugal and the study area, respectively.Of the 1781 barcode sequences provided in this dataset, 1099 contain new information (61.7%) at different levels: 254 (13.6%, ITS2: 41, trnL-ef: 126, trnL-gh: 87) are completely new to GenBank and/or BOLD databases at the time of publication, 438 (24.6%, ITS2: 59, trnL-ef: 173, trnL-gh: 206) are new records for a given species and 407 (22.9%, ITS2: 187, trnL-ef: 206, trnL-gh: 14) provide additional information (e.g. different bp length, intraspecific genetic variability); the remaining 682 sequences (38.3%) are equal (100% identity) to sequences already publicly available for the identified species. Overall, this dataset represents a significant contribution to the genetic knowledge of vascular plants represented in public libraries. This is one of the public releases of the IBI database, which provides genetic and distributional data for several taxa.All vouchers are deposited in the Herbarium of the Museum of Natural History and Science of the University of Porto (MHNC-UP) and their DNA barcodes are publicly available in the Barcode of Life Data System (BOLD), NCBI GenBank online databases and International Nucleotide Sequence Database Collaboration (INSDC).

Objective: This study describes the epidemiological changes in pressure ulcers (PUs) in a Portuguese intensive care unit (ICU) from January 2017 to June 2023, characterizes critically ill patients with PUs, identifies specific risk factors, and assesses the effectiveness of implemented preventive measures. Materials and Methods: A retrospective observational cohort study was conducted, analyzing records of ICU patients with PUs during the specified period. Data were extracted from the institution’s Global Risk Management application and the ICU’s electronic PU registry. The study included patients with ICU stays longer than 24 h and excluded those with ineligible clinical records or incomplete characterization data. Results: Among 3816 evaluated patients, 257 developed a total of 345 PUs, averaging 1.4 PUs per patient. The average PU prevalence rate was 6.81%, with the highest prevalence in 2020 (11.0%) and the lowest in 2022 (3.48%). The average incidence rate was 3.76%, peaking at 5.71% in 2020 and declining to 2.54% in 2023. The sacrum and heels were the most commonly affected areas, with Category 2 PUs being the most frequent. Key intrinsic risk factors included systemic diseases and sensory deficits, with pressure identified as a significant extrinsic factor. Preventive measures focused on risk assessment and pressure control. Conclusions: The study reveals a PU prevalence of 6.81% and an average incidence of 3.76%, underscoring the need for enhanced preventive strategies, especially in anatomical areas like the sacrum and heels. It emphasizes the importance of personalized assessments, continuous education for nursing staff, and a multidisciplinary approach to improve patient outcomes and care quality in the ICU.

Background: As early as 1995, the Institute of Medicine suggested that nurses were inadequately prepared for and educated about climate change and its health consequences. The aim of this systematic review is to identify the most reliable, robust, and valid instruments for measuring nurses’ knowledge and awareness of climate change and climate-associated diseases. Methods: Included studies were appraised using the Mixed-Methods Appraisal Tool and the Appraisal tool for Cross-Sectional Studies. The psychometrics and clinimetrics of the instruments were evaluated using the COSMIN Risk of Bias checklist and the COSMIN methodology for assessing content validity. Results: Medline, PubMed, Embase, CINAHL Ebesco, Cochrane Library Wiley, Web of Science Core Collection, Trip Database, JBI OVID SP, GreenFILE EBSCO, Google Scholar, ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global, and DART-EU were consulted. The 14 studies retained identified eight different instruments evaluating attitudes, perceptions, environmental awareness, environmental sensitivity, environmental attitudes, behaviours, motivation, concern, optimism, and experience. This review is reported according to the PRISMA guidelines. Conclusions: The New Ecological Paradigm Scale (NEPS) and the Climate, Health, and Nursing Tool (CHANT) are the most reliable, robust, and valid instruments for measuring nurses’ knowledge and awareness of climate change and climate-associated diseases.

Background/Objectives: Surgical procedures carry inherent risks, including injuries from surgical positioning, which impact patient safety and healthcare quality. An instrument to assess and prevent these injuries is essential. This study aimed to validate and culturally adapt the ELPO-PT for the Portuguese population to ensure its applicability and effectiveness in assessing the risk of injury from surgical positioning. Methods: A validation study was conducted with 126 adult patients undergoing surgical procedures at a central hospital in northern Portugal. Statistical analyses, including the calculation of Cronbach’s alpha coefficient, assessed the internal reliability of the scale. Additionally, sensitivity and specificity analyses evaluated the ELPO-PT’s diagnostic accuracy in identifying patients at risk of developing positioning-related injuries. Results: The validation showed a Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of 0.782, indicating reasonable internal reliability. Sensitivity analysis revealed an 85% accuracy rate in identifying patients at risk of positioning injuries, while specificity analysis demonstrated a 90% accuracy rate for patients not at risk. Conclusions: The ELPO-PT is a valid and reliable instrument for aiding nurses in clinical decision-making, with significant sensitivity and specificity in identifying the risk of positioning-related injuries, including pressure ulcers, in adult patients during the intraoperative period. Its implementation is expected to be beneficial in healthcare settings, contributing to the prevention of complications associated with surgical positioning.

A formação docente e a incorporação de materiais inclusivos são essenciais para práticas pedagógicas eficazes e equitativas. Preparar professores envolve não apenas teoria, mas também a capacidade de atuar em ambientes diversificados atendendo às necessidades individuais dos alunos. Segundo Mantoan (2003), materiais didáticos inclusivos atendem às diversas necessidades dos estudantes, incluindo deficiências e diferenças culturais, criando um ambiente acessível e equitativo. Neste artigo, busca-se investigar as contribuições do material didático como ferramenta inclusiva para a formação de professores do Curso de Licenciatura em Educação Profissional e Tecnológica do Instituto Federal de Brasília – Campus Samambaia, utilizando um questionário estruturado com sete questões objetivas e duas subjetivas para captar a percepção dos alunos. Os resultados indicam que 88,9% dos participantes consideram a elaboração de materiais didáticos muito motivadora para a formação docente. A análise das respostas destaca que a flexibilidade e a capacidade de adaptação às necessidades individuais dos alunos são essenciais para a eficácia dos materiais didáticos inclusivos. Assim, a formação docente deve incluir a exploração e criação de recursos que contemplem a diversidade dos estudantes.

O presente artigo apresenta discussões acerca do papel do estágio supervisionado no percurso formativo dos estudantes do Curso de Licenciatura em Educação Profissional e Tecnológica (LEPT) do Instituto Federal de Brasília – Campus Samambaia. O trabalho apresenta as características da LEPT e a forma de organização do estágio supervisionado no âmbito do curso. A discussão acerca do papel do estágio no curso de formação de professores da LEPT parte de uma pesquisa realizada com estudantes do 1º semestre do curso de licenciatura. A pesquisa evidencia uma visão abrangente do estágio supervisionado para a formação docente, sendo concebido como uma forma de conhecer a realidade da sala de aula, meio para encontrar alternativas para os processos de ensinar e aprender, espaço de articulação entre teoria e prática e oportunidade para o desenvolvimento de habilidades como resolução de problemas, empatia, comunicação e adaptação a diferentes contextos educacionais.

As healthcare continues evolving in the age of digital technology, the integration of artificial intelligence has emerged as a powerful force, particularly in wound care. The education of healthcare professionals in wound care is crucial for ensuring they acquire the necessary knowledge and skills, optimizing patient outcomes. This paper outlines the protocol for a scoping review with the goal of mapping and analyzing the current scientific evidence regarding the potential impact of artificial intelligence in wound care education. The current protocol follows the JBI methodological framework. The search was conducted in December 2023 in the following databases: CINAHL Complete (via EBSCOhost), MEDLINE (via PubMed), Cochrane Library, Academic Search Complete, Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), Scopus, and Web of Science. Electronics searches were conducted in the Scientific Open Access Scientific Repositories of Portugal (RCAAP) and ProQuest Dissertations and Theses, OpenAIRE, and Open Dissertations databases to access gray literature. Additionally, searches were performed on Google Scholar and specific journals such as the International Wound Journal, Skin Research and Technology, Journal of Wound Care, and Wound Repair and Regeneration. The initial database searches retrieved a total of 11,323 studies. After removing duplicates, a total of 6450 studies were submitted for screening. Currently, 15 studies are included in this review, and data charting and analysis are underway. The findings of this scoping review will likely provide insights into the application of artificial intelligence in wound care education.

Background/Objectives: Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) present significant challenges in modern healthcare, leading to increased morbidity, mortality, and healthcare costs. Examination gloves play a critical role in infection prevention by serving as a barrier to reduce the risk of cross-contamination between healthcare workers and patients. This manuscript aims to provide consensus-based guidelines for the optimal selection, use, and disposal of examination gloves in healthcare settings, addressing both infection prevention and environmental sustainability. Methods: The guidelines were developed using a multi-stage Delphi process involving healthcare experts from various disciplines. Recommendations were structured to ensure compliance with international regulations and sustainability frameworks aligned with the One Health approach and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Results: Key recommendations emphasize selecting gloves based on clinical needs and compliance with EN 455 standards. Sterile gloves are recommended for surgical and invasive procedures, while non-sterile gloves are suitable for routine care involving contact with blood and other body fluids or contaminated surfaces. Proper practices include performing hand hygiene before and after glove use, avoiding glove reuse, and training healthcare providers on donning and removal techniques to minimize cross-contamination. Disposal protocols should follow local clinical waste management regulations, promoting sustainability through recyclable or biodegradable materials whenever feasible. Conclusions: These consensus-based guidelines aim to enhance infection control, improve the safety of patients and healthcare workers, and minimize environmental impact. By adhering to these evidence-based practices, grounded in European regulations, healthcare settings can establish safe and sustainable glove management systems that serve as a model for global practices.

Este artigo busca identificar e caracterizar a presença e participação de mulheres no início do curso de Química da Faculdade de Filosofia, Ciências e Letras da Universidade de São Paulo. Para isso, recorreu-se ao gênero como categoria de análise e à contemporânea historiografia da ciência a fim de compreender seu contexto e vivências. A investigação se concentrou em arquivos públicos do estado de São Paulo e nos anuários da faculdade, os quais forneceram dados sobre alunas e funcionárias no curso desde 1935, dentre as quais se destacaram Jandyra França e Elly Bauer. Ambas contribuíram efetivamente para a implementação e manutenção das atividades de ensino, pesquisa e administração do departamento.

A inédita transição ao comunismo colocada na história pela Revolução Russa de 1917, obrigou seus líderes teóricos a resolverem a tarefa de conceber e levar a contento tal transição. Lenin foi, sem dúvida, quem mais se aproximou a desvendar tal processo, em disputa com a maioria dos teóricos, embora ainda tenha carregado o ônus do equívoco da teoria da revolução socialista, de matriz lassalleana, que nada tem a ver com Marx. A teoria de Lenin sobre o capitalismo de estado bem demonstra a riqueza de seu pensamento, ao revelar a necessária raiz comunista da transição, e os elementos necessários e obrigatórios para uma transição que se mantivesse fiel à tarefa de emancipação dos trabalhadores.

Este artigo analisa a transformação geopolítica e econômica impulsionada pelo BRICS e sua expansão para o BRICS+. O BRICS, formado por economias emergentes e influenciado pelo relatório do Goldman Sachs, criou o New Development Bank (NDB) e o Arranjo de Contingente de Reservas (CRA) como alternativas ao Banco Mundial e ao FMI. A cooperação entre Rússia e China se intensificou após as sanções ocidentais e a guerra na Ucrânia. O artigo também discute a desigualdade social dentro do BRICS+ e os limites do bloco em enfrentar a Nova Ordem Mundial e o imperialismo. Conclui-se que o BRICS+ ainda opera dentro dos limites do capitalismo global, oferecendo poucas soluções substanciais para os desafios da exploração laboral e ambiental.

Background: Pressure ulcers associated with the non-invasive ventilation mask can significantly reduce the quality of life of the patient who needs this therapy. This study aims to identify clinical interventions to prevent skin lesions associated with the use of non-invasive ventilation medical devices. Methods: The Scoping Review followed the methodology of the Joanna Briggs Institute. For this study the research was carried out, during the month of January 2022, in several databases, such as PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, EBSCOhost, RCAAP and OpenGrey, and studies published between 2010 and 2022 were included. Results: Of the 33 articles identified, 11 articles were included in this review, in which we identified several interventions for the prevention of skin lesions associated with the use of medical devices for non-invasive ventilation. The interventions identified include skin assessment, optimal fixation of the device, and the use of interfaces, namely, hydrocolloid or foam dressing under the NIV mask, among others Conclusion: This scoping review demonstrates that there is some scientific evidence for prevention, however the methodological approaches are very different, which makes it difficult to clearly describe the referenced interventions. This study was not registered.

This study examines the ethical issues surrounding the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare, specifically nursing, under the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The analysis delves into how GDPR applies to healthcare AI projects, encompassing data collection and decision-making stages, to reveal the ethical implications at each step. A comprehensive review of the literature categorizes research investigations into three main categories: Ethical Considerations in AI; Practical Challenges and Solutions in AI Integration; and Legal and Policy Implications in AI. The analysis uncovers a significant research deficit in this field, with a particular focus on data owner rights and AI ethics within GDPR compliance. To address this gap, the study proposes new case studies that emphasize the importance of comprehending data owner rights and establishing ethical norms for AI use in medical applications, especially in nursing. This review makes a valuable contribution to the AI ethics debate and assists nursing and healthcare professionals in developing ethical AI practices. The insights provided help stakeholders navigate the intricate terrain of data protection, ethical considerations, and regulatory compliance in AI-driven healthcare. Lastly, the study introduces a case study of a real AI health-tech project named SENSOMATT, spotlighting GDPR and privacy issues.

(1) Background: The scientific literature highlights that children diagnosed with celiac disease (CD) are at a heightened risk of experiencing physical, psychological, and social challenges, impacting their overall healthy childhood development. However, there remains a lack of a clear understanding regarding the factors that contribute to this vulnerability. The purpose of this study is to analyze and map the evidence on the sociopsychosomatic vulnerability of these children and identify gaps in this topic. (2) Methods: Following Joanna Briggs Institute’s guidelines for scoping reviews, we executed a detailed search of key electronic databases and explored the grey literature to capture a broad spectrum of studies. Our focus was on identifying research that looked into the multiple dimensions of vulnerability—physical, psychological, and social—in children with CD. We included a diverse range of study designs as well as systematic reviews, ensuring a comprehensive analysis. The selection process was stringent, utilizing clearly defined inclusion and exclusion criteria. (3) Results: We identified 61 studies that met our inclusion criteria. The review highlighted significant adverse health outcomes in children with CD and elucidated various individual and environmental determinants that influenced these vulnerabilities. It also underscored the lack of assessment tools to evaluate the risk of health problems in this population. (4) Conclusions: The findings underscore a critical need for further research to deepen our understanding of the vulnerabilities associated with CD in children. Developing targeted assessment tools will be crucial in stratifying health risks and enhancing care strategies for this vulnerable population.

Introdução: A hemodiálise em doentes renais crónicos representa a sobrevivência e nesse sentido, existe a preocupação das equipas multidisciplinares com a qualidade de vida destas pessoas e com os indicadores de qualidade. Este centro de hemodiálise com capacidade instalada para 414 doentes olha estes indicadores na perspetiva da melhoria dos seus serviços. Existe uma multiplicidade de indicadores em diálise, pelo que se usaram os mais consensuais: valor-alvo de hemoglobina, doença mineral óssea, dose de diálise, acessos vasculares definitivos e infeções (Niihata et al., 2018). Objetivos: Monitorizar indicadores de qualidade ao longo do 1º semestre de 2023: valor alvo de hemoglobina, cálcio, fósforo e PTHi; dose de diálise adequada; acessos vasculares definitivos e infeções. Material e Métodos: Estudo observacional, longitudinal e retrospetivo de janeiro a junho de 2023, realizado num centro de hemodiálise ambulatorial de Luanda. A população são os doentes crónicos em hemodiálise. Garantiram-se os princípios éticos da confidencialidade da informação, sem prejuízo para nenhum participante. Resultados: Foram atendidos uma média mensal de 415 doentes, com idade entre os 18 e 79 anos, predominando o género feminino. 88.5% têm como etiologia nefropatia hipertensiva. Observa-se consistência dos valores ao longo do semestre. 62% apresentam hemoglobina no intervalo-alvo, entre 10 e 13 g/dL, com média semestral de 11.6 g/dL. Na avaliação da doença mineral óssea, 49.7% tem cálcio sérico entre 8-10.4mg/dL, 45.4% fósforo entre 3.5 e 5.5 mg/dL e 45.4% PTHi entre 150 e 600 pg/mL. 95.6% tem dose de diálise adequada com valor de Kt/V semestral médio de 1.51 (1.46-1.55), tendo-se verificado melhores resultados nos meses de fevereiro, março e junho com valor superior a 96%. A percentagem de acesso vascular definitivo aumentou mensalmente, sendo a média de 82.6%. Dos 152 episódios de infeções identificados, 34 foram relacionadas com os acessos vasculares (33.6%). Globalmente, a taxa de infeção dos acessos vasculares foi de 1.32%. Conclusões: Os indicadores de qualidade avaliados neste centro são satisfatórios à luz da evidência atual e ao contexto social e de saúde do país. Os dados relativos à doença mineral óssea são menos satisfatórios com uma percentagem significativa de doentes com PTHi elevadas embora medicados.

Introdução: O conhecimento dos profissionais de saúde deve acompanhar a evidência, especificamente sobre lesões por pressão (LPP) (Moraes et al., 2016), incorporando a terminologia e os conceitos das guidelines de organizações internacionais reconhecidas como a NPUAP, EPUAP e PPIA que (EPUAP, NPIAP, PPIA, 2019). Objetivos: Determinar o conhecimento dos profissionais de saúde sobre terminologia, fatores de risco e classificação de LPP e escala de Braden. Material e Métodos: Estudo descritivo, exploratório e quantitativo. A população é constituída pelos profissionais de saúde angolanos que aceitaram participar, convite realizado nas redes sociais. A colheita de dados foi realizada em setembro de 2023 através de questionário disponibilizado no Google Forms. Garantiram-se os princípios éticos da confidencialidade da informação. Resultados: Participaram no estudo 106 profissionais de saúde, 82.1% enfermeiros, 13.2% médicos; 50% do género masculino, idade média de 31 anos e média de 7.3 anos de atividade profissional. 54.7% dos participantes identifica a terminologia escara como um conceito atual e 89.4% reconhece os conceitos de escara, lesão por pressão e úlcera por pressão como sinónimos. 59.4% identifica as LPP através de avaliação da alteração da temperatura e coloração da pele e 35.8% quando há lesão. Relativamente à principal causa, 85.7% reconhece a pressão e 97.2% a imobilidade, internamento em UCI e obesidade como fatores de risco. 59.2% nega a existência de LPP nas mucosas e 59.4% negam que os dispositivos médicos possam ser causa de LPP. Quanto à classificação: mais de 80% identificam corretamente as características de LPP categoria 1 e 2, 48.1% sabem que há categorias sem numeração. Sobre a escala de Braden 63.5% conhece alguma coisa sobre a escala e 48.6% nunca a utilizou na prática de cuidados. Conclusões: Os participantes demonstraram algum desconhecimento relativamente à terminologia e classificação atuais bem como na identificação precoce de lesões. Já relativamente à escala de Braden, a maioria conhece a escala, mas nunca a usou na prática clínica. Face isto, é determinante que se elabore uma clarificação de termos a usar na prática clínica em Angola como primeiro passo na disseminação do conhecimento sobre este tema.

Resumo Considerando as mudanças climáticas e o impacto das temperaturas elevadas na saúde humana, especialmente devido ao aquecimento global, são relevantes as ações de prevenção ao calor voltadas aos trabalhadores que laboram a céu aberto. Neste ensaio, são apresentados resultados de recentes pesquisas, bem como destacadas inovações tecnológicas para monitoramento do calor no Brasil. Também são expostas reflexões sobre o futuro do trabalho a céu aberto diante das mudanças climáticas. O trabalho a céu aberto é em geral caracterizado por atividades pesadas, que geram elevado calor metabólico. Contudo, são escassos os esforços no campo da Saúde e Segurança do Trabalho para a busca de alternativas que minimizem ou eliminem os efeitos do calor para os trabalhadores. Além disso, as alternativas de proteção dos trabalhadores são reduzidas. O Monitor IBUTG é apresentado como inovação tecnológica de monitoramento remoto do calor em ambiente a céu aberto. Apesar das medidas de controle previstas em lei para proteção dos trabalhadores submetidos ao calor, em razão do aquecimento global, serão necessários intervenções inovadoras e controles especiais da exposição ao calor nos ambientes externos. Portanto, é desejável maior empenho na produção de conhecimento com vistas a fomentar a elaboração ou o aprimoramento de políticas públicas.

Este texto analisa a ascensão da China como uma nova potência global, enfatizando a perspectiva de uma reconfiguração na ordem mundial capitalista. Adicionalmente, explora a dicotomia existente entre diversas potências globais, notavelmente no contexto das ações promovidas pelos Estados Unidos e seus aliados, como o cerco e a possível guerra contra a Rússia. O autor também destaca a crescente polarização entre forças democráticas e antidemocráticas, marcada pelo avanço da ultradireita e pelo declínio do poder político do campo democrático conservador. Ademais, aborda a complexidade da transição da revolução russa para o socialismo em detrimento do comunismo, discutindo as implicações da revolução tecnológica e do surgimento do quarto órgão da máquina na configuração da ordem mundial. O texto conclui ressaltando a relevância da contenda pela emancipação humana diante dos desafios advindos da crise estrutural do capital.

The Trichoptera are an important component of freshwater ecosystems. In the Iberian Peninsula, 380 taxa of caddisflies are known, with nearly 1/3 of the total species being endemic in the region. A reference collection of morphologically identified Trichoptera specimens, representing 142 Iberian taxa, was constructed. The InBIO Barcoding Initiative (IBI) Trichoptera 01 dataset contains records of 438 sequenced specimens. The species of this dataset correspond to about 37% of Iberian Trichoptera species diversity. Specimens were collected between 1975 and 2018 and are deposited in the IBI collection at the CIBIO (Research Center in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources, Portugal) or in the collection Marcos A. González at the University of Santiago de Compostela (Spain).Twenty-nine species, from nine different families, were new additions to the Barcode of Life Data System (BOLD). A success identification rate of over 80% was achieved when comparing morphological identifications and DNA barcodes for the species analysed. This encouraging step advances incorporation of informed Environmental DNA tools in biomonitoring schemes, given the shortcomings of morphological identifications of larvae and adult Caddisflies in such studies. DNA barcoding was not successful in identifying species in six Trichoptera genera: Hydropsyche (Hydropsychidae), Athripsodes (Leptoceridae), Wormaldia (Philopotamidae), Polycentropus (Polycentropodidae) Rhyacophila (Rhyacophilidae) and Sericostoma (Sericostomatidae). The high levels of intraspecific genetic variability found, combined with a lack of a barcode gap and a challenging morphological identification, rendered these species as needing additional studies to resolve their taxonomy.

Higher education institutions (HEIs) make decisions in several domains, namely strategic and internal management, without using systematized data that support these decisions, which may jeopardize the success of their actions or even their efficiency. Thus, HEIs must define and monitor strategies and policies essential for decision making in their various areas and levels, in which business intelligence (BI) plays a leading role. This study presents a systematic literature review (SLR) aimed at identifying and analyzing primary studies that propose a roadmap for the implementation of a BI system in HEIs. The objectives of the SLR are to identify and characterize (i) the strategic objectives that underlie decision making, activities, processes, and information in HEIs; (ii) the BI systems used in HEIs; (iii) the methods and techniques applied in the design of a BI architecture in HEIs. The results showed that there is space for developing research in this area since it was possible to identify several studies on the use of BI in HEIs, although a roadmap for its implementation was not identified, making it necessary to define a roadmap for the implementation of BI systems that can serve as a reference for HEIs.

(1) Background: The high prevalence of persons with wounds and its consequences for a person’s quality of life makes the issue a relevant focus of attention for healthcare professionals. Through prognostic factors for healing, the individual risk of complications can be predicted, is possible to predict imminent delays and guide decision-making, thus helping healthcare professionals. (2) Methods: A scoping review performed according to JBI methodology and guided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) checklist will aim to identify the studies that meet predefined eligibility criteria. Five databases and gray literature will be the sources used to research adults with pressure ulcers, venous leg ulcers, arterial ulcers, or diabetic foot ulcers and report the prognostic factors for delayed healing in any care setting. (3) Results: This review will consider all quantitative and mixed studies in the last five years. The selection of articles will be carried out by two reviewers independently, using EndNoteWeb and Rayyan. Prognostic factors will be presented by design study, sampling, setting, outcome, wound type, and statistical methods. (4) Conclusions: Mapping prognostic factors for delayed healing could also be a starting point for a systematic review and meta-analyses to quantify the value of each factor.

(1) Background: The scientific literature reports that children with celiac disease (CD) are more susceptible to developing physical, psychological and social problems, conditioning their healthy childhood development. Despite this scientific evidence, the knowledge about determinants of vulnerability for the development of such problems is not consistent. In order to search the literature, a scoping review was conducted to analyse and map the evidence on the sociopsychosomatic vulnerability of children with CD and identify the gaps in this topic. (2) Methods: The methodology proposed by the Joanna Briggs Institute will be adopted and aims to identify studies that meet pre-defined eligibility criteria. The survey will include a range of relevant electronic databases as well as grey literature using related terms such as vulnerability, child and celiac disease. (3) Results: This review will consider any type of quantitative, qualitative and mixed studies and systematic reviews, focusing on dimensions of vulnerability in children with CD. The process of selection of studies, data extraction and analysis will be developed by two independent researchers. A third and fourth researcher will be involved in the study when there is no consensus between the previous researchers, as well as for resolving issues regarding the methodological process. (4) Conclusions: Identifying the determinants of vulnerability in children with CD will help nurses to understand the impact on their childhood development and trace possible gaps. This research is registered on the platform Open Science Framework (OSF).

Introdução: A saúde psicológica é o estado de bem-estar emocional, cognitivo e social que permite a uma pessoa enfrentar os desafios diários. A partir da conceção de saúde mental de Jahoda (1958), o estado de flourishing descreve um funcionamento e bem- estar ótimos em todos os aspetos da vida de um indivíduo. No processo adaptativo ao Ensino Superior, que é contínuo e multidimensional, para que o ajustamento à nova realidade seja bem-sucedido, é essencial que o Estudante tenha concluído as tarefas desenvolvimentais, nomeadamente a estabilidade na autoestima e se sinta competente nos diversos papéis que desempenha. Estes dois indicadores são importantes para a autonomia e bem-estar psicológico (Zeigler-Hill, 2013). A avaliação e intervenção focada nos aspetos positivos da Saúde Mental constitui-se como um recurso determinante para a promoção da saúde das pessoas, em detrimento do modelo centrado na doença (Bohlmeijer & Westerhof, 2021). Objetivos: explorar a relação entre os níveis de saúde mental positiva e literacia em saúde mental de estudantes universitários das IES de Viseu. Metodologia: Trata-se de um estudo exploratório transversal que incluiu uma amostra de conveniência constituída por 486 estudantes, maioritariamente do sexo feminino (79%), com idades compreendidas entre os 18 e os 49 anos (M=20,7; DP=4,65) na sua maioria do 1º ano de Licenciatura (61,1%). Foram administrados presencialmente um questionário sociodemográfico, o Questionário de Saúde Mental Positiva - QSM+ (Sequeira & Carvalho, 2009) e o Questionário de Literacia em Saúde Mental (Rocha & Neto, 2016). Resultados: Os resultados sugerem associações positivas, com efeito pequeno a moderado, entre as dimensões da saúde mental positiva e os níveis de literacia. Os níveis mais elevados de literacia relacionam com a atitude pró-social. O conhecimento relativamente aos fatores de risco e causas das perturbações mentais aparece relacionado com uma melhor perceção de autocontrolo, autonomia e habilidades de relação. Conclusões: Dado que os estudantes com melhor saúde mental positiva atingem melhor desempenho académico e expressam maior competência na idade adulta, os resultados confirmam que a literacia em saúde mental poderá ser um fator promotor da saúde psicológica e, consequentemente, um alvo da intervenção dirigidas a este contexto de atuação.

Introdução: A ética para o exercício profissional tende a ser posta em prática a partir de uma estrutura de valores que orienta o comportamento dos membros dessa profissão, por meio de um conjunto de deveres, princípios e normas que promove o reconhecimento pelos pares, a confiança do público e a proteção e reputação da profissão, valores fundamentais para qualquer atividade e entendidos como o que é imprescindível para alcançar a prática profissional ideal (Ricou, 2014) [1]. Objetivos: Desenvolver e validar uma escala hierárquica de valores e comportamentos ético-profissionais para psicólogos brasileiros (EHVPP-BR). Material e Métodos: Trata-se de um estudo transcultural em países lusófonos (Portugal, Angola, Moçambique e Brasil), que no Brasil foi realizado em etapa única, online, respeitando exigências éticas de pesquisa com pessoas e aplicado entre abril e maio de 2022. A amostra foi composta por conveniência (snowball) e o protocolo foi composto por: termo de consentimento, questionário sociodemográfico-ocupacional, e a EHVPP-BR (23 itens, 4 dimensões, escala likert de 1 a 5 – discordo totalmente/concordo totalmente), com base em Alves et al. (2021) [2]. Resultados: Participaram 239 psicólogos brasileiros de diferentes regiões e áreas de atuação. Introdução: A pessoa pode atribuir um valor a tudo a cerca e os valores qualificam a sua ação. A hierarquia que estes assumem, em cada profissional, tem efeito no relacionamento/interação deste com o cliente, pares e sociedade (Francis, 2004). Objetivos: Identificar a estrutura hierárquica de valores dos psicólogos em Portugal através de uma nova escala – a EHVPP-PT. Material e Métodos: No contexto de um estudo transcultural em Angola, Brasil, Moçambique e Portugal, desenvolveu-se a EHVPP partindo da Declaração Universal dos Direitos Humanos, Código Deontológico dos Psicólogos e Especificidades presentes em cada contexto lusófono. A versão portuguesa, em fase de validação, integra 24 itens: 5 Valores Universais, 4 Princípios Deontológicos, 13 Normas Específicas da Prática Profissional e 2 Especificidades Locais. Em cada item, o psicólogo deverá posicionar-se quanto à importância que assume, no contexto do seu exercício profissional, cada uma das afirmações, numa escala de likert de 5 pontos. Resultados: Nesta primeira amostra participaram 58 psicólogos portugueses de diferentes áreas de atuação. A maior importância foi atribuída a “Assegurar o sigilo, a confidencialidade e a privacidade da informação referente ao cliente.” e “Respeitar a dignidade, autonomia e direitos do cliente.” (91,4% cada um); O “Exercer a profissão com base em modelos teóricos.” emerge como o menos valorizado (43,1%) seguido de “Assumir a responsabilidade e compromisso com as problemáticas, necessidades e desafios sociais.” (51,7%). Conclusões: Apesar da amostra ainda não ter dimensão representativa, aponta já para uma estrutura hierárquica provisória, dos valores nos psicólogos portugueses. Foi atribuída maior importância a valores que se situam no nível de desenvolvimento moral convencional onde o correto é o que é pautado pelas convenções e regras sociais determinadas por pessoas de autoridade, e onde os deveres, a manutenção da ordem social e da lei, orientam a moralidade. No oposto da hierarquia, surgem valores do nível pós-convencional no qual a pessoa transcende sociedades e leis na busca de princípios de igualdade e dignidade, com uma ética válida para todos. Estes resultados preliminares parecem confirmar a dificuldade em atingir este estádio de desenvolvimento moral, tal como defendido por Kohlberg, reforçando a necessidade de formação e reflexão profissional.

O texto expressa uma crítica da economia política neoliberal e algumas de suas consequências no processo histórico brasileiro, em especial seus desdobramentos atuais no plano político e geopolítico em decorrência do momento de ruptura da ordem política norte-americana. Aborda a necessária reindustrialização a ser promovida pela nova ordem democrática rebaixada. Aponta a fragilidade a economia política do bloco democrático e a ascensão da revolução antidemocrática radical da ultradireita.

O artigo integra dois textos previamente publicados em forma resumida e editada no jornal Moskovsky Komsomolets. O primeiro é dedicado ao problema da pobreza. O autor caracteriza a escala e as causas da pobreza na Rússia, mostrando que a base desse fenômeno é o sistema capitalista de relações socioeconômicas em geral e seu específico modelo russo em particular. São destacadas as direções de redução da pobreza, cuja implementação é possível no âmbito do sistema capitalista. O segundo texto analisa as razões da estagnação da economia russa e faz uma breve descrição de uma possível estratégia de desenvolvimento eco-sócio-humanitário. Ambos os textos caracterizam as direções de reformas profundas que podem e devem se tornar um prólogo para mudanças qualitativas no sistema socioeconômico e a transição para uma trajetória de desenvolvimento socialista.

O texto promove uma crítica da economia política neoliberal, em especial sua dimensão bélica e contrarrevolucionária, radicalmente anticomunista, tomando suas dimensões no processo da revolução bolivariana da Venezuela. Para tal, desenvolve os fundamentos da economia política da transição comunista, capaz de eliminar o impasse revolucionário das sociedades do capitalismo da miséria e, assim, abrir caminho para a transição social e a emancipação dos trabalhadores.

Abstract Background Many significant ecosystems, including important non-forest woody ecosystems such as the Cerrado (Brazilian savannah), are under threat from climate change, yet our understanding of how increasing temperatures will impact native vegetation remains limited. Temperature manipulation experiments are important tools for investigating such impacts, but are often constrained by access to power supply and limited to low-stature species, juvenile individuals, or heating of target organs, perhaps not fully revealing how entire or mature individuals and ecosystems will react to higher temperatures. Results We present a novel, modified open top chamber design for in situ passive heating of whole individuals up to 2.5 m tall (but easily expandable) in remote field environments with strong solar irradiance. We built multiple whole-tree heating structures (WTHSs) in an area of Cerrado around native woody species Davilla elliptica and Erythroxylum suberosum to test the design and its effects on air temperature and humidity, while also studying the physiological responses of E. suberosum to short-term heating. The WTHSs raised internal air temperature by approximately 2.5 °C above ambient during the daytime. This increased to 3.4 °C between 09:00 and 17:00 local time when thermal impact was greatest, and during which time mean internal temperatures corresponded closely with maximum ambient temperatures. Heating was consistent over time and across WTHSs of variable size and shape, and they had minimal effect on humidity. E. suberosum showed no detectable response of photosynthesis or respiration to short-term experimental heating, but some indication of acclimation to natural temperature changes. Conclusions Our WTHSs produced a consistent and reproducible level of daytime heating in line with mid-range climate predictions for the Cerrado biome by the end of the century. The whole-tree in situ passive heating design is flexible, low-cost, simple to build using commonly available materials, and minimises negative impacts associated with passive chambers. It could be employed to investigate the high temperature responses of many understudied species in a range of complex non-forest environments with sufficient solar irradiance, providing new and important insights into the possible impacts of our changing climate.

Neste texto procura-se abordar três temas correlatos que conformam o destino da democracia sob o processo da revolução na contrarrevolução, quais sejam, a opção antidemocrática radical da ultradireita e a necessária revolução democrática radical dos trabalhadores e a transição democrática promovida pela revolução democrática radical no sentido da transformação social. Para tal formula-se uma crítica radical da assim chamada revolução socialista e retoma-se a formulação da necessária teoria da transição comunista.

We present a comprehensive taxonomic and nomenclatural review of the Portuguese oaks (Quercus L.), issuing from throughout biogeographical, historical, bibliographic, field and herbarium data. We propose a new annotated checklist for all taxa and nothotaxa belonging to Quercus L. genus in the Portuguese national territory, extending the analysis to the broader biogeographical context of Western Mediterranean Subregion. Fifteen herbaria collections were exhaustively studied and complemented by information retrieved from digital collections, resulting in the recognition of eleven native oaks. Further treatment at infraspecific level includes one subspecies and additional 23 nothotaxa. We designate 21 names as types and add a preliminary list of 150 cultivated trees, concurring to a total of 185 oak taxa, in total, found in Portugal. Moreover, we clarify the taxonomical status and reinstate both Quercus calliprinos Webb and Q. pseudococcifera Desf. as native for the Western Mediterranean subregion. We recover the concept of Q. faginea Lam., as the widespread Gall oak in Portugal and update its synonym list. We propose Q. broteroana and Q. estremadurensis as autonomous species within the European Q. robur s.l. broad group, alongside two newly circumscribed subsections inside Section Quercus. We describe three nothotaxa as new (Q. ×alvesii, Q. ×capeloana and Q. ×sampaioana) and approach the nomenclatural resolution of the remaining natural hybrids. Lastly, we provide an identification key, intelligible for non-specialists, including both native taxa and most frequent nothotaxa. We emphasise the importance of historical and literature review, combined with accurate biogeographical information, as paramount to coherent taxonomical resolution. Both specimens and their associated records were found of crucial significance to a taxonomical model that is, in the end, useful to biodiversity conservation.

BackgroundThe needs of patients with cancer must be met, especially in times of crisis. The advent of the pandemic triggered a series of strategic actions by the nursing team to preserve the health of patients and professionals—hence the importance of studies on nursing care actions provided to patients with cancer during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is known that these patients are susceptible to severe COVID-19. However, no previous review has summarized the findings of scientific studies on nursing for COVID-19 in patients with cancer. ObjectiveThis study aims to map the topics addressed in scientific studies on nursing for COVID-19 in patients with cancer. MethodsA scoping review was conducted using the methodology described in the Joanna Briggs Institute Reviewers' Manual 2015. The research question was elaborated using the population, concept, and context framework: What topics have been studied in nursing publications about COVID-19 in adult patients with cancer? The searches were carried out in 8 databases between April and November 2021 without time restrictions. ResultsIn total, 973 publications were identified using the search strategies in the databases, and 12 papers were retrieved by consulting the references. A total of 31 (3.2%) publications were included in the final analysis, generating 4 thematic categories on the subject: “restructuring the services: how oncology nursing was adapted during the pandemic,” “experiences of patients and performance of the nursing team during the COVID-19 pandemic,” “protocols and recommendations for dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic,” and “challenges and the role of oncology nurses facing the COVID-19 pandemic.” ConclusionsSeveral strategies used by oncology nurses to face the COVID-19 pandemic in the international scenario were identified. Reports about the restructuring of services and the team's reactions to the pandemic predominated. However, there is a lack of reports regarding emotional support strategies for health care professionals. Another gap identified was the scarcity of clinical studies on the activities developed by oncology nurses. Therefore, there is a need for clinical research in the oncology area and emotional coping strategies to support oncology nurses.

Abstract Onychomycosis or tinea unguium (EE12.1) and Onychomycosis due to non-dermatophyte moulds (1F2D.5) (OM) is a fungal infection of the nail plates with a high prevalence that often affects vulnerable people with co-existing health problems. Gold standard pharmacological treatments for onychomycosis have been associated with low success rates and increasing antifungal resistance, suggesting that treatment outcome is dependent on multiple variables. Here, the prevalence of OM and quality of life were characterized in two vulnerable populations—Hospital patients and Homeless people. Comparing both groups, the most prevalent fungal species were identified in Hospital patients. Then, the in vitro fungicidal properties of the antiseptics povidone-iodine, polyhexamethylene biguanide-betaine, octenidine dihydrochloride, and a super-oxidized solution against two ATCC strains (Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger) and three clinical fungal isolates from Hospital patients (Candida parapsilosis, Trichophyton interdigitale, and Trichophyton rubrum) were tested. OM prevalence was high in both patient groups studied, who also reported a reduction in quality of life and concerns about the state of their feet. In addition, Hospital patients had a non-negligent therapeutic regimen management style. Antiseptics tested in vitro revealed antifungal properties. As antiseptics are low-cost and easy to apply and have few iatrogenic effects, the demonstration of fungicidal properties of these solutions suggests that they may constitute potential supportive therapeutics for OM.

São recorrentes as discussões, tanto no âmbito acadêmico quanto em organismos internacionais, acerca do uso da violência pelas forças de segurança pública na prática brasileira. Este artigo discute, inicialmente, alguns dados e concepções teóricas existentes acerca do termo violência policial. Em seguida, o problema é examinado à luz da jurisprudência da Corte Interamericana de Direitos Humanos, com ênfase na decisão proferida no Caso Favela Nova Brasília, em que houve a responsabilização internacional do Brasil pela ausência de investigação e responsabilização de agentes policiais que incorreram no uso indevido da força. As conclusões lançadas reforçam a necessidade de adequação das condições estruturais do sistema criminal brasileiro em direção aos estândares interamericanos de respeito e proteção aos direitos humanos.

Objective: To evaluate the impact of a real-time visual feedback device on CCs rate and depth delivered by healthcare professionals.Methods: In a simulated scenario a sensor was placed on a manikin’s chest and connected to a defibrillator which provided real-time visual feedback on the rate and depth of CCs. Thirty-two healthcare professionals performed sequentially 5 cycles of 30 CCs without (FeedOFF) and with (FeedON) feedback. CCs with a depth between 50 and 60mm and a rate between 100 and 120cpm were considered optimal.Results: Visual feedback resulted in a significant increase in the proportion of CCs with optimal depth (median 8.7 [interquartile range 0.7–55.5]% FeedOFF vs 63.3 [17.6–88.1]% FeedON, p=0.002) and optimal rate (median 51.3 [1.3–81.3]% FeedOFF vs 68.3 [45.3–86.1]% FeedON, p=0.018). Overall, CCs were too shallow and too fast in the FeedOFF cycle. There was also a significant increase in optimal CCs (optimal depth and rate) with the use of the feedback device (from median 0.7 [0–26.9]% FeedOFF to 31.9 [3.6-59.9]% FeedON, p=0.001). Participants’ factors such as age, sex, body mass index, job or time since last CPR training did not have a significant impact on CPR quality.Conclusion: In the absence of visual feedback, there is a tendency towards lower depth and higher rate of CCs. The use of feedback technology significantly improves the quality of CCs.

Resumo: O artigo é uma análise dos artigos científicos publicados pelo Grupo de Pesquisa em Humanidades e Sociedade Contemporânea do IFMT (GPHSC-IFMT), o recorte se deu entre os anos de 2016 e 2017, e analisou-se como as pesquisas realizadas pelo grupo de pesquisa inserem-se na propositura de múltiplas abordagens do bullying no cotidiano escolar (CERTEAU, 1994 e MAFESOLI, 1995, 1998), através da temática da violação dos Direitos Humanos. Sendo uma pesquisa qualitativa de revisão bibliográfica dos artigos publicados pelo Grupo. Nos resultados percebe-se o entrecruzamento da multiplicidade de percepções dos sujeitos e do objeto de pesquisa configurando o corpus pesquisador dentro da concepção de transversalidade. Abstract: The article is an analysis of the scientific articles published by the IFMT Research Group on Humanities and Contemporary Society (GPHSC-IFMT), the cutoff between 2016 and 2017, and analyzed how the research conducted by the research group They are part of the proposition of multiple approaches of bullying in daily school life (CERTEAU, 1994 and MAFESOLI, 1995, 1998), through the theme of violation of Human Rights. Being a qualitative research of bibliographic review of the articles published by the Group. The results show the intersection of the multiplicity of perceptions of the subjects and the research object configuring the researcher corpus within the concept of transversality.
