En este trabajo analizamos el uso de los medios digitales de educomunicación (MDE) por docentes de educación superior. Los MDE refieren al uso de tecnologías de información y comunicación (TIC) para enriquecer las actividades educativas. Aquí destacamos los efectos de la pandemia en el uso de los MDE, según los resultados de entrevistas realizadas en línea a diez docentes de dos facultades, Ingeniería y Filosofía y Letras, de dos universidades, la Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua (UACH) y la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM)

International audience; Caffeine is the most consumed psychoactive substance worldwide. Previous studies suggested higher caffeine consumption in subjects with schizophrenia spectrum disorders (SSD) as well as associations with symptoms, medication and medication side-effects. In a large and well-characterized sample of SSD subjects we explored the association between caffeine consumption and clinical (psychosis related, severity, general health) as well as pharmacological (antipsychotic treatment, sedation potential) variables. Eight hundred four subjects with data on their caffeine (coffee and tea) consumption successively recruited were included in this study. After controlling for potential confounders (demographic variables, smoking) only the negative dimension of psychosis was associated with the amount of caffeine ingested. Less severe negative symptoms were associated with higher caffeine consumption. The effect size of this association was small (partial correlation coefficient = −0.12) but significant.

Despite myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) affecting millions of people worldwide, many clinicians lack the knowledge to appropriately diagnose or manage ME/CFS. Unfortunately, clinical guidance has been scarce, obsolete, or potentially harmful. Consequently, up to 91% of patients in the United States remain undiagnosed, and those diagnosed often receive inappropriate treatment. These problems are of increasing importance because after acute COVID-19, a significant percentage of people remain ill for many months with an illness similar to ME/CFS. In 2015, the US National Academy of Medicine published new evidence-based clinical diagnostic criteria that have been adopted by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Furthermore, the United States and other governments as well as major health care organizations have recently withdrawn graded exercise and cognitive-behavioral therapy as the treatment of choice for patients with ME/CFS. Recently, 21 clinicians specializing in ME/CFS convened to discuss best clinical practices for adults affected by ME/CFS. This article summarizes their top recommendations for generalist and specialist health care providers based on recent scientific progress and decades of clinical experience. There are many steps that clinicians can take to improve the health, function, and quality of life of those with ME/CFS, including those in whom ME/CFS develops after COVID-19. Patients with a lingering illness that follows acute COVID-19 who do not fully meet criteria for ME/CFS may also benefit from these approaches.

Study design Observational cross-sectional study. Objectives To determine the differences between persons with spinal cord injury (SCI) and control individuals in terms of conscious and unconscious sexual responses to subliminally presented visual sexual stimuli. Setting Spinal cord injury rehabilitation center in northern Italy. Methods A two-part behavioral experiment was conducted on 40 participants (27 individuals with SCI; 13 controls). In first part, all participants were subliminally exposed to a prime picture (neutral or sexual) and asked to rate the extent to which they were emotionally aroused, while watching a set of explicit target pictures (neutral or sexual). In the second part, choice reaction time task was employed, wherein participants were shown a subliminal prime picture (neutral or sexual) followed by an explicit target picture (neutral or sexual) superimposed by a black dot and were asked to locate the dot as fast as possible. Results In the first part, men with SCI reported higher levels of emotional arousal to explicit sexual target pictures compared to other groups. In the second part, slower choice reaction times were found in the SCI group, particularly with sexual prime picture. Moreover, females with SCI spent more time during implicit motor learning tasks with sexual target pictures than other groups. Conclusion We found differences in the experience of subliminal and explicit sexual pictures not only between the two groups, but also between females and males with SCI. Attention should thus be paid when considering sexual experience at subliminal and conscious level in SCI population for future research and rehabilitative protocols.

Background The COVID-19 pandemic catalyzed the adoption of telerehabilitation in various healthcare settings. However, there was neither a pre-existing national guideline in the Philippines nor an internationally agreed standard on telerehabilitation. The literature lacks nationwide studies documenting how physiatrists perceived and experienced telerehabilitation during the pandemic. Objective To determine the perceptions and experiences of physiatrists in the Philippines regarding telerehabilitation. Design Online survey originally developed by the authors with inputs from local experts in telehealth or telerehabilitation. Setting Nationwide, involving board-certified physiatrists practicing in the Philippines. Participants Fellows of the Philippine Academy of Rehabilitation Medicine (PARM) (N = 259) with Internet access. Main outcomes Self-reported telerehabilitation knowledge, skills, and experience; key concerns; preferred clients, service offerings, and methods (technology, duration, charging). Results The respondents (n = 161; 62.2% response-rate) had a mean age of 48.1±9.6 years, were mostly females (57.8%), and mostly practiced in private hospitals and urban settings. The majority reported inadequate telerehabilitation knowledge (61.5%), skills (58.4%), and experience (72.1%). The most common sources of telerehabilitation knowledge were colleagues (52.8%), PARM (51.6%), and telemedicine-related websites (41.6%). Most of the respondents preferred to conduct telerehabilitation with former patients over new ones, and prescribe telerehabilitation programs for physical, occupational, psychological, and speech-language therapy, but not for swallowing therapy. Videoconferencing was the most common telerehabilitation method. More than half of the respondents charged lesser fees for telerehabilitation compared to in-person consultations. While the majority recognized the need for telerehabilitation, their key concerns included the lack of thorough patient examination, and medicolegal liability issues. Conclusion Despite their limited baseline knowledge, skills and experience regarding telerehabilitation, many physiatrists in the Philippines learned to adopt this service delivery method during the pandemic. Their perceptions and experiences could be used in formulating practice-based guidelines and strategies to improve the conduct of telerehabilitation in the country. This article analyzes the educational use of digital educommunication media (DEM) by four groups of professors working at the faculties of Philosophy and Letters and of Engineering at the Autonomous University of Chihuahua (UACH) and at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Seven hypotheses and three research questions were posed, which were related to the use of DEM (specifically: images, animations, and video; presentations (PowerPoint/Prezi); digital texts; the Cloud; social media/instant messaging; and email), their qualities and the differences regarding their use, among the different groups studied. A two-phase mixed-methods explanatory sequential approach was employed, with a first phase of quantitative data collection and a second qualitative phase. A stratified sample of 177 professors was selected, which was distributed proportionally between the two selected faculties and universities. All professors completed a 144-item questionnaire in the first phase, and on the basis of their answers, ten professors were selected to be interviewed in the second phase, to ensure the diversity of the interviewed group in terms of sex, age, faculty, and educational level at which they teach, as well as their teaching experience and experience in the use of DEM. Among the results, we found that: a) the choice between using DEM or traditional media in class was not determined by teachers’ perception about their students’ learning with technology; b) the characteristics of each DEM determined its use, but the use of a given DEM was not related to the activities that it could enable; c) the professors exclusively teaching in graduate programs, the younger ones, those from UNAM, or those of Engineering did not present significant differences to their counterparts in terms of their use and assessment of DEM; and d) the qualitative data reaffirmed these trends and helped typify the challenges and opportunities of using DEM, particularly those that arose from the period of the exclusively online education model that was adopted owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background and purpose In 2020, new recommendations against routine use of pretreatment in NSTEACS have been established, especially if an early invasive strategy (within first 24 hours) is planned [1]. These recommendations are mainly based on evidence from clinical trials that have included short intervals of time to coronary angiography (CA) [2,3]. However, this timing seems hard to achieve in daily clinical practice, above all, when high-risk NSTEACS patients are now advised for an early invasive strategy. We aimed to assess the feasibility of these recommendations in real-world clinical practice. Methods We performed a retrospective analysis of a real-life cohort of NSTEACS patients referred to CA in a tertiary-level hospital between January and December 2020. Results We analysed 347 consecutive NSTEACS patients referred to CA (21.7% unstable angina, 78.3% NSTEMI). Percutaneous coronary intervention was performed in 60.5% and the radial or cubital artery access were exclusively used in 86.7%. Median time from hospital admission to CA was 39.4 hours (IQR: 20.7–67.0 hours) and 31.4% patients had the CA performed within first 24 hours (Figure 1). Main differences regarding clinical and risk-related variables among those patients who underwent CA before and after first 24 hours are shown in Table 1. More patients with NSTEMI and dynamic changes in ECG tended to be referred earlier to CA, while those with impaired renal function were more likely to receive a delayed strategy. There were 282 patients (82.7%) who met the high-risk criteria from current ESC guidelines on NSTEACS (GRACE risk score >140, ST transient elevation or depression in ECG, raise of cardiac troponin levels above the 99th percentile of the upper reference limit, cardiogenic shock or cardiac arrest at presentation); of whom, only 95 (33.7%) were referred to CA in the first 24 hours. No differences were found according to patients being admitted to PCI or non-PCI centres (32.1% vs. 30.9% had the CA performed within first 24 hours, p=0.81) or receiving pretreatment with a P2Y12 receptor inhibitor or not (31.7% vs. 31.0% of the CA ≤24 hours group; p=0.87). Conclusion Evidence from this real-life registry shows that median time from admission to CA is far from current recommendations for high-risk NSTEACS patients. This might represent an important limitation at the moment of translating guidelines to daily clinical practice, especially those who presume patients to have a CA performed within first 24 hours. International audience; The degradation of InGaAsN pin subcell under 1 MeV electrons irradiation was studied by characterizing solar cells and dilute nitride bulk layers before and after irradiation. Cells are measured to retain more than 94 % of their original photocurrent after 10 15 cm-2 1 MeV-electrons irradiation. Moreover, no significant degradation of the optoelectronic properties is observed after irradiation.

Transovarial transmission (TOT) of dengue virus (DENV) in Aedes spp. is an important mechanism for DENV maintenance in nature and may be important in initiating outbreaks. The objective of this study was to explore the occurrence of TOT in wild Aedes albopictus populations in Cuba. Mosquito larvae were collected in Cotorro municipality, Havana, Cuba, and identified to species. Fifteen pools of Ae. albopictus each containing 30 larvae were processed for DENV detection by using conventional reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and nested PCR. Four out of 15 pools processed were positive for DENV-3, but no other DENV serotype was detected. This is the first time TOT of DENV detected in Cuban field populations of Ae. albopictus, and this suggests that this species may be an important vector of DENV in Cuba.

The significance of gold nanoparticles in nanobiotechnology and the trend towards the development of green methods of synthesis has boosted research on the use of new natural resources, such as plants, as reducing agents for the formation of nanoparticles. This article focuses on Hypericum perforatum L., a plant known since ancient times for its multiple applications in the treatment of a variety of diseases. In this study, the flowers, leaves, and stems of the plant were separated and their corresponding ethanolic extracts (HPF, HPL, and HPS) were extensively characterized and used to synthesize gold nanoparticles. The formation of gold nanoparticles was confirmed in all the cases by UV–Vis spectroscopy, which showed the characteristic SPR band of gold at around 540 nm. Furthermore, the three types of nanoparticles synthesized with each extract (Au@HPF, Au@HPL, and Au@HPS, respectively) were thoroughly characterized by means of HRTEM, XRD, FTIR, DLS and Z-potential. All the nanoparticles obtained were regular in shape, spherical, and with mean diameters between 9.2 and 11.5 nm. Finally, the evaluation of the antioxidant activity of both the extracts and the corresponding nanoparticles was performed by conducting in vitro antioxidant assays, revealing an enhanced DPPH radical scavenging capacity of the nanoparticles after the synthesis (with IC50 values of 0.11 ± 0.05 for Au@HPF, 0.23 ± 0.002 for Au@HPL, and 0.11 ± 0.002 mg/mL for Au@HPS) in comparison with that of the corresponding plant extracts (with IC50 values of 0.71 ± 0.04, 0.71 ± 0.03, and 0.69 ± 0.004 mg/mL for HPF, HPL, and HPS, respectively). To the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is the first detailed study on the capacity of each of the aerial parts of Hypericum perforatum to produce gold nanoparticles in which both the extracts used for the synthesis and the nanoparticles obtained are fully characterized. Given the multiple therapeutic properties of Hypericum perforatum, it is interesting to study the possible synergistic enhancement of those properties by means of its interaction with gold nanoparticles. Resumen Antecedentes El tratamiento conservador para prolapso de organos pelvicos (POP) esta indicado cuando la paciente rechaza la cirugia o cuando existe contraindicacion quirurgica por condiciones medicas adversas. Objetivo Evaluar la calidad de vida, complicaciones y percepcion subjetiva de mejora en mujeres con POP en tratamiento con pesarios en la Unidad de Uroginecologia del Hospital Militar, Santiago, Chile, entre 2009 y 2018. Metodo Estudio retrospectivo que evaluo 60 mujeres con POP en tratamiento con pesarios. Las variables sociodemograficas y datos clinicos fueron recopilados al inicio del tratamiento y durante los controles de abril del 2018 a marzo del 2019. Ademas, se aplicaron dos cuestionarios validados: Percepcion Subjetiva de Mejora y Prolapse Quality of Life (PQoL). Resultados El pesario mas utilizado fue el ring (75%), el promedio de edad 78,7 anos (± 8,2), las complicaciones mas reportadas fueron: vulvovaginitis, erosion, infeccion del tracto urinario y brida. Un 80% de las mujeres reporto excelente mejora en su condicion de salud, las demas refirieron sentirse entre bastante y algo mejor. Las mujeres con erosion y vulvovaginitis presentaron mayor tiempo de uso del pesario versus las que no tuvieron estas complicaciones (p Conclusion El tratamiento conservador con pesarios mostro buenos resultados, en la percepcion subjetiva de mejora y en la calidad de vida, y bajo porcentaje de complicaciones.

Este artículo describe un diseño metodológico mixto, propuesto para analizar el uso de los medios digitales de educomunicación (MDE) en la educación superior de México. Tal diseño busca proveer elementos para analizar cómo los docentes perciben el uso de la tecnología en el aula, al sugerir el empleo de dos etapas de recolección de datos: primero, empleando una encuesta con preguntas de selección múltiple, jerarquización y ponderación, así como de escala de tipo Likert y diferencial semántico; la segunda etapa implica entrevistas a profundidad con los docentes seleccionados según su tiempo trabajando como educadores y el que llevan usando los MDE. En la instrumentalización de esta propuesta metodológica se verificaría la dependencia y aceptación tecnológica del docente, además se podrá llegar a una serie de generalidades en el proceso de enseñanza en ramas del conocimiento específico y características personales de los docentes; también se podrá ubicar cuáles MDE coinciden con el modelo de aceptación tecnológica y cuáles se alejan más de sus postulados, así como indagar sobre las percepciones de los docentes respecto a la eficacia y gusto de los MDE al momento de impartir sus clases.

Based on a variety of evidence (photographs, feces, specimens), three previously unsuspected caviomorph rodents are reported from Argentina: (1) a spiny rat (Echimyidae) probably belonging to the genus Phyllomys, in northern Misiones Province near Iguazú National Park; (2) an undetermined octodontid (Octodontidae) in western Chacoan Córdoba Province; and (3) the octodontid Spalacopus (Octodontidae), in high-Andean ranges of San Juan Province. The latter constitutes the first record of the genus for Argentina, and all the three findings highlight the necessity to increase collecting efforts in the country.

BackgroundIn the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic, Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (PRM) residents in a developing country continue to face a lack of in-person clinical exposure and learning opportunities. With the unprecedented shift to virtual care, it remains uncertain whether residents can achieve PRM competencies using telerehabilitation as a method of instruction.ObjectiveTo determine the PRM residents' ability to achieve competencies through telerehabilitation, as perceived by different stakeholders (residents, chief residents, training officers, and department heads).MethodsThis will be a pilot mixed-methods study, employing concurrent triangulation, in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine in one large private medical center and one large government hospital in Manila, Philippines. There will be two phases of online data collection upon approval by their respective research ethics board. The first phase will involve an online Likert-scale questionnaire to obtain the residents' self-perceived attainment of competencies and learning of PRM topics and skills specified by the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine and the Philippine Board of Rehabilitation Medicine. The results of the survey will then be summarized and presented in a focus group discussion (FGD) with the department heads, training officers, and chief residents of the two institutions in an attempt to explain the residents' perceptions on their competencies achieved through virtual care. Afterwards, the qualitative data obtained from the FGD will then be thematically analyzed, and mixed methods integration will be employed to generate knowledge and recommendations.DiscussionIt is hypothesized that the majority of the residents had little to no experience with telerehabilitation pre-pandemic. Suddenly telerehabilitation was used to augment clinical training during the pandemic. It is uncertain whether telerehabilitation can help residents achieve competencies in the different domains of training, namely: patient safety and quality patient care; medical knowledge and procedural skills; interpersonal and communication skills; practice- and systems-based learning and improvement; reintegration of people with disabilities into the society; medical ethics and public health; quality assurance; policies of care and prevention for disabled people; and professionalism. The study results can provide insights on the aspects of a PRM curriculum that may have to be modified to ensure the training program is sensitive and appropriate to the changing training needs of the residents amid the pandemic and similar crises that may disrupt in-person clinical encounters in the future.

The impact of 1 MeV proton irradiation on 1.12 eV bandgap InGaAsN solar cells was studied through device and material characterizations. After a 1013 p+cm−2 proton fluence, the photocurrent decreases by 28%, due to the formation of defects in both the GaAs emitter and the InGaAsN absorber. Furthermore, photoluminescence measurements suggest that the proton radiation hardness of InGaAsN increases with the nitrogen.

Photonic crystals are some of the more spectacular realizations that periodic arrays can change the behavior of electromagnetic waves. In nature, so-called structural colors appear in insects and even plants. Some species create beautiful color patterns as part of biological behavior such as reproduction or defense mechanisms as a form of biomimetics. The interaction between light and matter occurs at the surface, producing diffraction, interference and reflectance, and light transmission is possible under suitable conditions. In particular, there are two Colombian butterflies, Morpho cypris and Greta oto, that exhibit iridescence phenomena on their wings, and in this work, we relate these phenomena to the photonic effect. The experimental and theoretical approaches of the optical response visible region were studied to understand the underlying mechanism behind the light–matter interaction on the wings of these Colombian butterflies. Our results can guide the design of novel devices that use iridescence as angular filters or even for cosmetic purposes.

Introduction and objectives Information regarding long-term outcomes in patients surviving out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) is scarce. Our aim was to study the long-term clinical outcomes of a large cohort of OHCA patients surviving until hospital discharge and to identify predictors of mortality and cardiovascular events. Methods Consecutive OHCA patients admitted in the Acute Cardiac Care Unit who survived at least until hospital discharge between 2007 and 2019 were included. All received therapeutic hypothermia according to the local protocol. Pre- and intra-hospital clinical and analytical variables were analyzed, as well as the clinically relevant events during follow-up. Results A total of 201 patients were included, with a mean age of 57.6 ± 14.2 years, 168 (83.6%) were male. Thirty-six (17.9%) died during a median follow-up of 40.3 months (18.9–69.1), the most frequent causes of death being cardiovascular and neurological, followed by cancer. We calculated a predictive model for mortality during follow-up using Cox regression that included the following variables: poor neurological outcome [HR 3.503 (1.578–7.777)], non-shockable rhythm [HR 2.926 (1.390–6.163)], time to onset of CPR [HR 1.063 (0.997–1.134)], older age [1.036 (1.008–1.064)) and worse ejection fraction at discharge [1.033 (1.009–1.058)]. Conclusions Even though few patients experience recurrent cardiac arrest events, survivors after OHCA face high morbidity and mortality during long-term follow-up. Therefore, they may benefit from multidisciplinary teams providing an integral management and ensuring continuity of care.

Introduction and objectives To analyze neuron-specific enolase (NSE) kinetics as a prognostic biomarker of neurological outcome in cardiac arrest survivors treated with targeted temperature management. Methods We performed a retrospective analysis of patients resuscitated from in- or out-of-hospital cardiac arrest admitted from September 2006 to May 2018 in a single tertiary care center and cooled to 32 °C to 34 °C for 24 hours. Blood samples for measurement of NSE values were drawn at hospital admission and at 24, 48, and 72 hours after return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC). Neurological outcome was evaluated by means of the Cerebral Performance Category (CPC) score at 3 months and was characterized as good (CPC 1-2) or poor (CPC 3-5). Results Of 451 patients, 320 fulfilled the inclusion criteria and were analyzed (80.3% male, mean age 61 ± 14.1 years). Among these, 174 patients (54.4%) survived with good neurological status. Poor outcome patients had higher median NSE values at hospital admission and at 24, 48 and 72 hours after ROSC. At 48 and 72 hours after ROSC, NSE predicted poor neurological outcome with areas under the receiver-operating characteristic curves of 0.85 (95%CI, 0.81-0.90) and 0.88 (95%CI, 0.83-0.93), respectively. In addition, delta NSE values between 72 hours after ROSC and hospital admission predicted poor neurological outcome with an area under the receiver-operating characteristic curve of 0.90 (95%CI, 0.85-0.95) and was an independent predictor of unfavorable outcome on multivariate analysis (P Conclusions In cardiac arrest survivors treated with targeted temperature management, delta NSE values between 72 hours after ROSC and hospital admission strongly predicted poor neurological outcome.

Resumen Introduccion y objetivos Analizar la cinetica de la enolasa neuroespecifica (EN) como biomarcador de pronostico neurologico de los pacientes que sobreviven a una parada cardiaca tratados con control de temperatura. Metodos Analisis retrospectivo de pacientes ingresados tras sufrir una parada cardiaca dentro o fuera del hospital entre septiembre de 2006 y mayo de 2018 en un centro terciario y enfriados a 32-34 ° C durante 24 h. Las muestras de EN se tomaron al ingreso hospitalario y a las 24, 48 y 72 h del retorno a circulacion espontanea (RCE). El estado neurologico se evaluo a los 3 meses mediante la escala Cerebral Performance Category (CPC) y se categorizo como favorable (CPC 1-2) o desfavorable (CPC 3-5). Resultados De los 451 pacientes, 320 cumplian los criterios de inclusion (el 80,3% varones; media de edad, 61 ± 14,1 anos). De estos, 174 (54,4%) sobrevivieron con una evolucion neurologica favorable. Los pacientes con estado neurologico desfavorable tenian valores de EN mas altos al ingreso hospitalario y a las 24, 48 y 72 h del RCE. A las 48 y las 72 h, los valores de EN predijeron un estado neurologico desfavorable, con areas bajo la curva de 0,85 (IC95%, 0,81-0,90) y 0,88 (IC95%, 0,83-0,93). Ademas, el area bajo la curva de los valores delta de EN entre las 72 h y el ingreso hospitalario fue de 0,90 (IC95%, 0,85-0,95), y en el analisis multivariante resulto predictor independiente (p Conclusiones En pacientes que sobrevivieron a una parada cardiaca tratados con control de la temperatura, se ha demostrado que los valores delta de EN entre las 72 h del RCE y el ingreso hospitalario son un potente predictor de resultado neurologico desfavorable.

Study design: Cross-sectional explorative observational study. Title: Sexual satisfaction in people with spinal cord injury and their partners: an explorative study. Objective: To investigate the determinants of sexual satisfaction among individuals with spinal cord injury and relative partners by assuming a bio-psycho-social perspective. Setting: Online survey. Methods: Thirty-eight individuals (22 individuals with SCI and their partners) were provided with an anonymous self-report questionnaire. Bio-psycho-social dimensions were investigated by using the Barthel Modified Index, Beck Depression Inventory-II, Short Form Health Survey (SF-36). Sexual attitudes of participants were assessed via the Multidimensional Sexual Self-Concept Questionnaire (Snell, 1993). Results: While no differences were observed between individuals with SCI and their partners, women with SCI were overall more satisfied about their sexual life when compared to men with SCI. Coping strategies promoting self-efficacy and an active role in the sexual issues were predictive of Sexual Satisfaction in the couples of persons with SCI and their partners. No significant contribution was played by physical variables. Conclusion: A tailored-made approach assessing the needs of both individuals with SCI and partners is a key aspect for effective sexual rehabilitation protocols. According to the needs and features of each couple, health professionals should drive individuals with SCI and partners to cope with their sexuality within a bio-psycho-social framework underlying it.

In Uruguay, all replacements have been registered by law since 1980. Instability is the second cause of revision in hip replacements.To know the incidence of instability, and its relationship with the surgical approach.Observational and analytical study of a historical cohort of 1,738 hip replacements conducted in 2014. Random sample stratified according to the surgical approach: posterior (AP) and anterolateral (AAL). All patients who had suffered any dislocation were identified, their incidence was estimated and bivariate and multivariate tests were performed, to identify factors related, associated with the patient, to the surgeon (surgical approach and experience), to the environment, and to the implant.633 patients, minimum follow-up of three years and 16 patients with dislocation, with an incidence of 1.95% (95% CI: 1.14-3.31) in general, 1.4% (95% CI: 0.64-3.03) in AAL and 4.9% (95% CI: 2.67-8.83) in AP (p = 0.009, RR = 3.35). Factors associated with dislocation were: a) AP with an OR of 6.18 (CI 95%: 1.99-19.26); b) patient from the private health subsector with an OR of 13.74 (95% CI: 1.87-101.15); c) antecedent of hypothyroidism with an OR of 3.51 (IC 95%: 1.09-11.29); d) osteoarthritis secondary to inflammatory arthritis and dysplasia with an OR of 5.24 (CI 95%: 1.16-23.66); e) surgical center number three with an OR of 8.80 (CI 95%: 1.50-51.51).The incidence of early dislocation was within the usual ranges. Posterior surgical approach with increased risk of instability from preoperative risk factors.En Uruguay se registran por ley todas las artroplastías desde 1980. La inestabilidad es la segunda causa de revisión en artroplastías de cadera.Conocer la incidencia de inestabilidad y su relación con el abordaje.Estudio observacional y analítico de una cohorte histórica de 1,738 artroplastías de cadera efectuadas en 2014. Muestra aleatoria estratificada según la vía de abordaje: abordaje posterior (AP) y anterolateral (AAL). Se identificaron todos los pacientes que habían sufrido alguna luxación, se estimó su incidencia y se realizó análisis bivariado y multivariado para identificar los factores relacionados asociados al paciente, al cirujano (abordaje y experiencia), al medio y al implante.633 pacientes, seguimiento mínimo de tres años y 16 pacientes con luxación, con una incidencia de 1.95% (IC 95%: 1.14-3.31) en general, 1.4% (IC 95%: 0.64-3.03) en AAL y 4.9% (IC 95%: 2.67-8.83) en AP (p = 0.009, RR = 3.35). Los factores asociados con luxación fueron: a) AP con un OR de 6.18 (IC 95%: 1.99-19.26); b) paciente procedente del subsector de salud privado con un OR de 13.74 (IC 95%: 1.87-101.15); c) antecedente de hipotiroidismo con un OR de 3.51 (IC 95%: 1.09-11.29); d) artrosis secundarias a artritis inflamatorias y displasia con un OR de 5.24 (IC 95%: 1.16-23.66); e) centro quirúrgico número tres con un OR de 8.80 (IC 95%: 1.50-51.51).La incidencia de luxación temprana estuvo dentro de los rangos habituales. El AP con mayor riesgo de inestabilidad por factores de riesgo preoperatorios.
