Abstract

Using liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS), the phenolic content of the secondary metabolic extract of Quercus infectoria gall (Q. infectoria gall) extracted with supercritical CO2 and co-solvent methanol can be evaluated directly. 10 g of Q. infectoria gall was extracted using the SCFE CO2 technique at 50 °C under 20 MPa of pressure for 60 minutes with 1% methanol by weight. The extract contains seven bioactive components, including tannic acid (67.18%), quinic acid (7.99%), gallic acid (2.57%),maleic acid (0.02%), ellagic acid (0.22%), salicylic acid (0.03%), chlorogenic acid (0.09%), benzoic acid (0.01%), caffeic acid (0.02%), and aconitic acid (0.02%). Abstract

The modified ZSM-5 commercial as a filler for the polyethersulfone membrane was investigated in this work. The modification of ZSM-5 was prepared from aqueous solution 0.25 M NaOH as long as 30 minutes and returned to HZSM-5 from by exchange with NH4-acetate and calcined at 550 °C. The ZSM-5 commercial and H-ZSM-5 were characterized by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). XRD analysis showed the presence of ZSM-5 and the desilication treatment did not have a significant effect on the structural crystal phase of ZSM-5. The FTIR analysis shows support for XRD data that the similarity of the peaks and absence of any new bonding formation after the desilication process, it has vibrations of the pentacle and Si-O, Al-O skeletons peaks in 545 and 450 cm-1 which were characteristic of the ZSM-5. Modified ZSM-5 was as a filler in preparing the PES membrane by a phase inversion method. XRD data analysis shows that the composite membranes have characteristic peaks of ZSM-5 particle and amorphous PES and in the SEM image of cross section was seen as an asymmetrical membrane with tending a pore structure to be finger-like. The presence of ZSM-5 and PES in the composite membrane shows that ZSM-5 can be use as a filler in PES membranes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the effects of different solvents (isopropanol, benzene, and toluene) on the synthesis of carbon-modified TiO2/H-ZSM-5 composites. Carbon-modified TiO2/H-ZSM-5 composites were characterized by FTIR, XRD, and SEM. XRD analysis revealed that the TiO2 peaks at 2 = 25.3, 37.8, and 48.2° had distinct characteristics. FTIR analysis revealed that I-ZTC, B-ZTC, and T-ZTC had comparable absorption bands to ZSM-5 at 3464, 1639, 1222, 1097, and 545 cm-1, respectively. Additionally, the FTIR data revealed that I-ZTC, B-ZTC, and T-ZTC all display absorption bands around the wavenumber 450 cm-1, indicating the Ti-O bond's stretching vibration. Additionally, SEM-EDX analysis revealed that Ti was more evenly distributed on the surface of T-ZTC than on the surfaces of B-ZTC and I-ZTC. It was shown that the solvent's polarity has an effect on TiO2 dispersion. A less polar solvent disperses TiO2 more effectively. In terms of TiO2 dispersion, toluene was the preferable solvent for the production of carbon-modified TiO2/H-ZSM-5. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

A hierarchical zeolite ZSM-5 with micro and meso-pore was prepared by optimising the most affecting parameter in sequence of desilication and dealumination. The physicochemical properties of zeolite were characterised with XRD, nitrogen adsorption–desorption, FTIR and SEM. The potential of this zeolite for decolorisation of CR, RY, MB, RhB, DB-1 and DB-14 was evaluated with adsorption isotherm, thermodynamics, kinetics, and influencing parameter for adsorption. The unique modification of ZSM-5 resulted in lower crystallinity, easier porosity control, rich terminal silanol and unbridged silanol groups which assisted in higher adsorption capacity. The adsorption capacity of the optimum ZSM-5 was 323, 435, 589, 625, 61 and 244 mg/g for CR, RY, MB, RhB, DB-1 and DB-14, respectively. The dye adsorption progressed through pseudo-first-order kinetic and close to the Langmuir model.
