Conogethes punctiferalis is a serious pest in China affecting a wide variety of field crops, fruits, and forest trees. Many insects require supplemental nutrients after emergence to compensate for insufficient nutrients at the larval stage. In this study, to better understand the determinants of C. punctiferalis survival and reproduction, the impact of supplemental nutrition was examined. In particular, the effects of 11 treatments (5% sucrose, 10% sucrose, 15% sucrose, 5% sophora honey, 10% sophora honey, 15% sophora honey, 5% wild honey, 10% wild honey, 15% wild honey, distilled water, and blank control) on adult longevity and oviposition were evaluated, with detailed morphological analyses of ovarian development in the 10% sucrose, distilled water, and blank control groups. Conogethes punctiferalis required supplementary nutrition after emergence. Supplementary nutrition improved fecundity (number of eggs laid) and longevity, and 10% sucrose water had the greatest effects. The preoviposition period and oviposition period of C. punctiferalis females were longer, and the numbers of eggs in female ovarian tubes and eggs laid by females were higher in the 10% sucrose water group than in other groups. Females supplemented with distilled water laid a small number of eggs. Without nutrient supplementation, females did not lay eggs. In conclusion, supplemental nutrition was beneficial for ovarian development in female moths, prolonging the oviposition period and lifespan, and was an important factor affecting population dynamics. These results lay a foundation for further analyses of the nutritional requirements for C. punctiferalis in the field and provide a reference for indoor population feeding.

The high cost of feed and nitrogen pollution caused by high protein diets, which have become major challenges restricting sustainable development in China’s animal husbandry. Properly reducing the protein level and improving protein utilization in feed are a promising approach in solving this problem. To determine the optimal dose of methionine hydroxyl analog chelated zinc (MHA-Zn) in reduced 1.5% protein diets of broilers, total 216 1-day-old broilers were randomly allotted into 4 treatments and assess the index of growth and development at 42-days. PurposeThe digital economy has become a key force supporting the high-quality development of tourism. This paper discusses the coupling coordination relationship and spatiotemporal evolution path of digital economy and tourism in China's provinces.Design/methodology/approachThis paper uses the entropy method to measure the development level of digital economy and tourism, and establishes coupling coordination model and spatial autocorrelation model to study the interaction between the two industries.FindingsResults show that the development levels of the two industries are rising, which spatially show a progressively decreasing pattern of east-middle-northeast-west. The coupling coordination degrees of the two industries have increased steadily, but the overall level is still near maladjusted. Spatially, the positive correlation is increasing, but the incongruity of spatial agglomeration is still significant. The coupling coordination evolution path in the provinces shows differentiated characteristics. The migration path is mainly concentrated in Zones I and II. The eastern region has an obvious trend of extending to Zone III, where the tourism industry was the most affected by the pandemic.Practical implicationsThe study helps clarify the industrial coupling and coordination relationship in various regions and formulate regional tourism digital transformation strategies to promote the high-quality development of China's tourism industry.Originality/valueThis paper enriches the research on the relationship between digital economy and tourism from the perspective of industrial integration. The development commonality of China's tourism digital transformation summarized provides theoretical reference and demonstration for the coordinated development of China's tourism.

Background Lung cancer has a high incidence and a 5-year survival rate of less than 15%. Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) accounts for approximately 85% of lung cancer cases. Chemotherapy and immunotherapy are the most frequently used alternative treatments for patients with advanced-stage NSCLC in whom surgery failed. Previous studies have suggested that miR-27a is involved in cancer development and progression. The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinical value of miR-27a in the prognosis of NSCLC patients after chemotherapy. Methods Flow cytometry was used to detect the apoptosis rate of SPC-A1 cells treated with optical cisplatin at different times. Simultaneously, the expression of miR-27a in supernatants and cells was detected. Fifty-two newly diagnosed NSCLC patients were recruited. All patients received gemcitabine and cisplatin as first-line chemotherapy and docetaxel as second-line chemotherapy. At the end of every chemotherapy cycle, a therapeutic evaluation was performed according to the RECIST criteria. The expression of serum miR-27a was detected in each cycle. Results After treatment with 2.5 µg/mL cisplatin, the apoptosis rates of SPC-A1 cells were significantly greater than those of the paired untreated control groups at 12, 24, 48 and 72 h. The expression of miR-27a in supernatants and cells was also consistent with the apoptosis rate and changed a time-dependent manner. The chi-square test showed that an increase in miR-27a after chemotherapy was more common in patients who achieved partial response (PR) than in those who achieved no response (NR) (61.5% vs. 30.8%, P=0.026). The aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic value of coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA) to predict the risk of all-cause mortality in cancer patients in a propensity score matching (PSM) analysis. A total of 331 patients who previously had cancer and underwent coronary CTA from January 2015 to December 2019 were included. Multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression analysis and propensity-score matching analysis were performed. The primary endpoint was all-cause of mortality. In total, 125 with obstructive coronary artery disease (CAD) and 206 with non-obstructive CAD during a median follow-up of 3.3 years were included in this study. After PSM, age (HR, 1.040; 95%CI, 1.001-1.081; p =0.046), smoking history (HR, 2.344; 95%CI, 1.211-4.536; p =0.011), diabetes mellitus (HR, 1.862; 95%CI, 1.053-3.292; p =0.033) and obstructive CAD (HR, 1.845; 95%CI, 1.008-3.377; p =0.047) remained significant factors for all-cause mortality. Obstructive CAD evaluated by coronary CTA was found to be at higher risk for developing all-cause mortality in cancer patients.

This study aimed to investigate the effect of summer and winter on slaughter performance, muscle quality, flavor-related substance content, and gene expression levels related to the fat metabolism of pheasants. One-hundred 1-day-old pheasants were fed for 5 months starting in March and July and then, respectively, slaughtered in summer (August) and winter (December). The results revealed that compared with summer, winter not only increased pheasant live weight, dressed percentage, full-eviscerated yield, and muscle yield (p 0.05) but also enhanced the activities of SOD and CAT in serum (p 0.05). Winter significantly increased meat color, the contents of inosinic acid, and flavor amino acid in muscle. Amino acid contents in leg muscles of pheasants in winter were significantly higher than in summer except for histidine (p 0.05). Winter increased the contents of muscle mono-unsaturated fatty acid, reducing saturated fatty acid. Summer improved fat synthesis in liver, promoted the deposition of triglycerides and cholesterol, and reduced the expression levels of fat metabolism-related genes in muscle, while winter increased the expression levels of genes related to muscle fat metabolism to provide energy for body and affect muscle fatty acid profile. Overall, pheasants fed in winter had better sensory quality and flavor than summer.

Low-dose acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) prevents stroke and myocardial infarction in patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD), but whether it should be used for primary CVD prevention in older Chinese adults remains unclear.This prospective study investigated Chinese people aged70 years participating in the Kadoorie Study of Chronic Disease. The subjects were grouped as aspirin users and nonusers. Propensity score matching (PSM) was used to achieve balanced baseline characteristics. The primary outcome was major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCE). The secondary outcomes were all-cause mortality, cardiovascular and/or cerebrovascular disease (CCVD) mortality, and bleeding events. Survival curves were used to compare the outcomes between groups. Cox regression was used to identify the risk factors for the outcomes.In total, 4791 participants were categorized as aspirin users (n = 257) or nonusers (n = 4534). PSM resulted in 252 and 951 participants in the aspirin user and nonuser groups, respectively. Median follow-up was 8.6 years. Aspirin did not influence MACCE, all-cause mortality, or bleeding events, but it did influence CCVD deaths (p = 0.019). Male sex (hazard ratio [HR] 1.652; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.217-2.243; p = 0.001), body mass index (BMI) (HR 1.053; 95% CI 1.008-1.100; p = 0.021), and systolic blood pressure (HR 1.009; 95% CI 1.003-1.016; p = 0.004) were independent risk factors for MACCE. Survival analysis showed higher rates of CCVD mortality among aspirin users (HR 1.363; 95% CI 1.040-1.786; p = 0.025), but this was not significant in the regression analysis.There were no significant benefits from using aspirin as primary prevention for MACCE in older Chinese adults.

To study chest CT images and clinical characteristics of COVID-19 pneumonia in pregnant patients to examine any correlation.Between December 31, 2019 and March 7, 2020, 23 hospitalized pregnant patients with confirmed COVID-19 were enrolled in the study. Clinical presentations were collected retrospectively from records, including laboratory testing, chest CT imaging, and symptoms. Descriptive analysis and correlation of patients' clinical and CT characteristics were performed. Laboratory results from time of first admission and CT absorption (defined as reduction in lesion area, decrease in density, and absorption of some solid components) were compared between symptomatic and asymptomatic patients.Fifteen (65.2%) patients were asymptomatic with patchy ground-glass opacity in a single lung lobe. Eight (34.8%) patients were symptomatic with multiple patchy ground-glass shadows, consolidation, and fibrous stripes. Differences in lymphocyte percentage and neutrophil granulocyte rate between first admission and CT absorption were significant (P0.001). Median absorption time was shorter in the asymptomatic group compared with the symptomatic group (5 vs 10 days; P0.001). Median hospitalization time between asymptomatic and symptomatic patients was 14 vs 25.5 days; P0.001. Median absorption time and length of hospitalization for all patients was 6 days (IQR 5-8) and 17 days (IQR 13-25), respectively.Radiological findings and clinical characteristics in pregnant women with COVID-19 were similar to those of non-pregnant women with COVID-19. Median absorption time and length of hospitalization in asymptomatic patients were significantly shorter than in symptomatic patients. Lymphocyte percentage and neutrophil granulocyte rate may be used as laboratory indicators of CT absorption.

Regulatory T cells (Treg) suppress immune responses in patients with cancer. Surgery is the most effective therapeutic strategy for ovarian cancer (OC). However, the interplay between the Treg population and surgical resection remains unclear. 61 patients with OC who received no prior treatment were enrolled in the study. Treg percentages were characterized from peripheral blood mononuclear cells. We investigated CD4 + CD25 + , CD4 + CD25 + Foxp3 + , CD8 + CD28 − , and CD8 + Foxp3 + Tregs in OC patients and their postoperative changes using flow cytometry. Treg percentages were significantly higher in OC patients than those in benign ovarian tumors (BOT) and healthy controls. Higher percentages of Tregs were found in patients with stage III/IV than stage I/II OC. Treg percentages were significantly decreased postoperatively. The postoperative Treg percentages in patients with stage I/II OC were similar to those in BOT patients, while postoperative Treg percentages in patients with stage III/IV OC remained higher. Tregs were markedly lower on postoperative day (POD) 3 than preoperatively. They increased slightly after 7 days, but remained lower than preoperative levels. These data suggested that Tregs continued to decline from POD 7 to POD 30. Treg percentages are correlated with the tumor burden and could be a key factor in monitoring the immunological status of patients with OC.

The “high pollution, energy consumption and emissions” of cruise ships have caused a series of problems for cruise ports. As the scale of China’s cruise economy grows, the negative impact of the cruise environment requires us to take emergency measures. However, the research on cruise pollution and the laws and regulations are relatively scarce, so a comprehensive and in-depth study on the pollution problem of cruise ships is urgently needed. This paper comprehensively summarizes and analyzes the environmental problems of cruise ships at home and abroad, demonstrates evidences about the environmental risks faced by China’s cruise port area in the future and proposes the construction scheme of the regional environmental monitoring system of China’s cruise ports. It also explores the regional environmental monitoring mechanism of China’s cruise port, and provides countermeasures for promoting the construction of the cruise port environmental monitoring system. Suggestions and implementation plans can provide reference for the establishment and improvement of the top-level design of regional environmental supervision system of cruise ports in China.

To investigate the roles of miR-145 in lung adenocarcinoma (LAC) and to clarify the regulation of N-cadherin by miR-145. In 57 paired clinical LAC tissues, diminished miR-145 was significantly correlated with the lymph node metastasis and was negatively correlated with N-cadherin mRNA level expression. Wound healing and transwell assays revealed a reduced capability of tumor metastasis induced by miR-145 in LAC. miR-145 negatively regulated the invasion of cell lines through targeting N-cadherin by directly binding to its 3′-untranslated region. Silencing of N-cadherin inhibited invasion and migration of LAC cell lines similar to miR-145 overexpression. MiR-145 could inhibit invasion and migration of lung adenocarcinoma cell lines by directly targeting N-cadherin.

Objectives The aim of this study was to investigate a possible mechanism of CD8+ regulatory T-cell (Treg) production in an ovarian cancer (OC) microenvironment. Materials and methods Agilent microarray was used to detect changes in gene expression between CD8+ T cells cultured with and without the SKOV3 ovarian adenocarcinoma cell line. QRT-PCR was performed to determine glycolysis gene expression in CD8+ T cells from a transwell culturing system and OC patients. We also detected protein levels of glycolysis-related genes using Western blot analysis. Results Comparing gene expression profiles revealed significant differences in expression levels of 1420 genes, of which 246 were up-regulated and 1174 were down-regulated. Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analysis indicated that biological processes altered in CD8+ Treg are particularly associated with energy metabolism. CD8+ Treg cells induced by co-culture with SKOV3 had lower glycolysis gene expression compared to CD8+T cells cultured alone. Glycolysis gene expression was also decreased in the CD8+ T cells of OC patients. Conclusions These findings provide a comprehensive bioinformatics analysis of DEGs in CD8+ T cells cultured with and without SKOV3 and suggests that metabolic processes may be a possible mechanism for CD8+ Treg induction.

We previously reported that CD8 + Tregs could be induced in vitro by co-culture of CD8 + T cells with the OC cell lines SKOV3/A2780. Here, we described the role of TGF-β1 in CD8 + Treg induction by the OC microenvironment. OC patients expressed high levels of TGF-β1, as did the co-culture supernatant from CD8 + T cells and SKOV3. Additionally, TGF-β1 levels were positively correlated with CD8 + Treg percentages in OC. Neutralization experiments, cytokine studies and proliferation assays revealed that the in vitro -induced CD8 + Tregs depended at least partially on up-regulated expression of TGF-β1 to exert their suppressive function. CD8 + T cells cultured with SKOV3 exhibited marked activation of p38 MAPK than CD8 + T cells cultured alone, which could be inhibited by TGF-β1-neutralizing antibody. Moreover, the p38 specific inhibitor SB203580 dose-dependently blocked the TGF-β1 activated conversion of CD8 + T cells into CD8 + Tregs. These data suggested that in vitro -induction of CD8 + Tregs depended in part on TGF-β1 activation of p38 MAPK signaling. Therefore, p38 MAPK could be a therapeutic target in OC anti-tumor immunotherapy.

Patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) have immune defects that are poorly understood. Forkhead box protein P3 (Foxp3) is crucial for immunosuppression by CD4(+) regulatory T cells (Tregs). It is not well known how NSCLC induces Foxp3 expression and causes immunosuppression in tumor-bearing patients. Our study found a higher percentage of CD4(+) Tregs in the peripheral blood of NSCLC compared with healthy donors. NSCLC patients showed demethylation of eight CpG sites within the Foxp3 promoter with methylation ratios negatively correlated with CD4(+)CD25(+)Foxp3(+) T levels. Foxp3 expression in CD4(+) Tregs was directly regulated by Foxp3 promoter demethylation and was involved in immunosuppression by NSCLC. To verify the effect of tumor cells on the phenotype and function of CD4(+) Tregs, we established a coculture system using NSCLC cell line and healthy CD4(+) T cells and showed that SPC-A1 induced IL-10 and TGF-β1 secretion by affecting the function of CD4(+) Tregs. The activity of DNA methyltransferases from CD4(+) T was decreased during this process. Furthermore, eight CpG sites within the Foxp3 promoter also appeared to have undergone demethylation. Foxp3 is highly expressed in CD4(+) T cells, and this may be caused by gene promoter demethylation. These induced Tregs are highly immunosuppressive and dramatically inhibit the proliferative activity of naïve CD4(+) T cells. Our study provides one possible mechanism describing Foxp3 promoter demethylation changes by which NSCLC down-regulates immune responses and contributes to tumor progression. Foxp3 represents an important target for NSCLC anti-tumor immunotherapy.

The present study aimed to determine the effect and mechanism of fuzhisan (FZS) and donepezil on the SIRT1 signaling pathway and the metabolism of the amyloid precursor protein (APP) in PC12 cells. An experimental cell model of PC12 cells with Aβ25‑35‑induced neurotoxicity was established and cell proliferation was determined by the MTT assay following treatment with donepezil and FZS. In addition, cell apoptosis was determined using DAPI staining and light microscopy. Furthermore, western blot analysis and ELISA were utilized to evaluate the expression levels of associated APP, Aβ40, Aβ42, sAPPα, sAPPβ, ADAM10, sirtuin 1 (SIRT1) and forkhead box O (FoxO) protein. The results indicated that the cell model was successfully established and FZS protected the PC12 cells from the neurotoxic effects of Aβ25‑35, in a similar effect to donepezil, in a dose‑dependent manner. The expression of APP remained at the same level during the experimental period. The levels of Aβ40, Aβ42 and sAPPβ were downregulated, where as sAPPα, ADAM10, SIRT1 and FoxO expression levels were upregulated. In conclusion, FZS treatment attenuated the Aβ25‑35‑induced neurotoxicity in vitro. The neuroprotective mechanism of FZS was determined, including the induction of ADAM10 and SIRT1‑FoxO pathway, which participated in the process of neuroprotection. The present study identified the neuroprotective function of FZS, which may protect against Aβ‑induced toxicity. Therefore, FZS may be used clinically as a beneficial therapeutic drug for the development or progression of Alzheimer's disease.

We aimed to determine the association of evidence-based processes of care for acute ischemic stroke (AIS) and clinical outcome of patients who participated in the HEADPOST (Head Positioning in Acute Stroke Trial), a multicenter cluster crossover trial of lying flat versus sitting up, head positioning in acute stroke. Methods and Results-Use of 8 AIS processes of care were considered: reperfusion therapy in eligible patients; acute stroke unit care; antihypertensive, antiplatelet, statin, and anticoagulation for atrial fibrillation; dysphagia assessment; and physiotherapist review. Hierarchical, mixed, logistic regression models were performed to determine associations with good outcome (modified Rankin Scale scores 0-2) at 90 days, adjusted for patient and hospital variables. Among 9485 patients with AIS, implementation of all processes of care in eligible patients, or defect-free care, was associated with improved outcome (odds ratio, 1.40; 95% CI, 1.18-1.65) and better survival (odds ratio, 2.23; 95% CI, 1.62-3.09). Defect-free stroke care was also significantly associated with excellent outcome (modified Rankin Scale score 0-1) (odds ratio, 1.22; 95% CI, 1.04-1.43). No hospital characteristic was independently predictive of outcome. Only 1445 (15%) of eligible patients with AIS received all processes of care, with significant regional variations in overall and individual rates. Conclusions-Use of evidence-based care is associated with improved clinical outcome in AIS. Strategies are required to address regional variation in the use of proven AIS treatments. The rapid development of cruise economy and the eastward shift of cruise industry have put forward urgent demand for the development of cruise manufacturing industry in China. In recent years, China’s shipbuilding industry has developed rapidly, but China has no experience in luxury cruise ship design and building. To develop the luxury cruise shipbuilding industry is of great significance for China to be the world shipbuilding power and for the transformation and upgrade of the shipbuilding industry chain. At present, the trend of large-scale cruise shipbuilding becomes more and more obvious in the world. The world’s largest cruise ship has reached 228,000 t. The characteristics of ship type and in-ship facilities not only impose strict requirements for the building technology of functional equipment on ships, but also pose great challenges to the design of the overall speed, safety and comfort, and personalized configuration and building of cruise ships. In this paper, the features, building difficulties and core building technology of the world’s operating Oasis-class luxury cruise ships are sorted with the hope to bring enlightenment on the development of China’s luxury cruise shipbuilding industry.

With the fast development of China’s cruise tourism, both home port cruise and visiting port cruise are on the rise very quickly, which, however, leads to cruise ship pollution, which has attracted the attention of all parties. Due to the transnational features of cruise Lines, the international features of route operating and the global mobility of marine ecological system, the emission of cruise ship pollutants is provided with transnational and global features. With the enhancement of China’s comprehensive power, the change in international trend and the prominent global environmental problem, it is beneficial to the sustainable development of marine economy and marine ecological civilization construction to discuss the demand for the protection of marine rights and interests, ecological safety and resources development for the sustainable development of China’s cruise ship economy, analyze the environment supervision and treatment challenge caused by the mobile, complex, multilateral and transnational cruise ship pollution and explore China’s practice mode, implementation mechanism and realization path for international environmental governance of cruise tourism by introducing marine rights is and it plays a significant role in the green development of China’s cruise tourism.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pneumonia is a recent outbreak in mainland China and has rapidly spread to multiple countries worldwide. Pulmonary parenchymal opacities are often observed during chest radiography. Currently, few cases have reported the complications of severe COVID-19 pneumonia. We report a case where serial follow-up chest computed tomography revealed progression of pulmonary lesions into confluent bilateral consolidation with lower lung predominance, thereby confirming COVID-19 pneumonia. Furthermore, complications such as mediastinal emphysema, giant bulla, and pneumothorax were also observed during the course of the disease.

OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to investigate a possible mechanism of CD8(+) regulatory T‐cell (Treg) production in an ovarian cancer (OC) microenvironment. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Agilent microarray was used to detect changes in gene expression between CD8(+) T cells cultured with and without the SKOV3 ovarian adenocarcinoma cell line. QRT‐PCR was performed to determine glycolysis gene expression in CD8(+) T cells from a transwell culturing system and OC patients. We also detected protein levels of glycolysis‐related genes using Western blot analysis. RESULTS: Comparing gene expression profiles revealed significant differences in expression levels of 1420 genes, of which 246 were up‐regulated and 1174 were down‐regulated. Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analysis indicated that biological processes altered in CD8(+) Treg are particularly associated with energy metabolism. CD8(+) Treg cells induced by co‐culture with SKOV3 had lower glycolysis gene expression compared to CD8(+)T cells cultured alone. Glycolysis gene expression was also decreased in the CD8(+) T cells of OC patients. CONCLUSIONS: These findings provide a comprehensive bioinformatics analysis of DEGs in CD8(+) T cells cultured with and without SKOV3 and suggests that metabolic processes may be a possible mechanism for CD8(+) Treg induction.

Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV) is etiologically associated with Kaposi's sarcoma (KS), the most common AIDS-related malignancy. KSHV vIL-6 promotes KS development, but the exact mechanisms remain unclear. Here, we reported that KSHV vIL-6 enhanced the expression of DNA methyltransferase 1 (DNMT1) in endothelial cells,increased the global genomic DNA methylation, and promoted cell proliferation and migration. And this effect could be blocked by the DNA methyltransferase inhibitor, 5-azadeoxycytidine. We also showed that vIL-6 induced up-regulation of DNMT1 was dependent on STAT3 activation. Therefore, the present study suggests that vIL-6 plays a role in KS tumorigenesis partly by activating DNMT1 and inducing aberrant DNA methylation, and it might be a potential target for KS therapy.

Tumor survival is significantly correlated with the immune response of patients. IFNG plays an important role in the tumor host response and decreased IFNG expression is often observed in lung cancer. Studies have shown that CpG island hypermethylation plays a critical role in transcriptional silencing of IFNG gene expression. However, there is limited understanding regarding the molecular mechanisms of altered methylation, and whether the tumor microenvironment has any effect on DNA methylation and IFNG production. In the current study, we demonstrate that plasma and intra-cellular IFNG levels are significantly lower in lung cancer patients. Hypermethylation of the IFNG promoter in CD4(+) T cells and plasma IFNG was negatively correlated. CD4(+) T cells from healthy individuals co-cultured with SPC-A1 cells generated lower levels of IFNG after activation, elevated expression of DNA methyltransferases (DNMTs), and exhibited hypermethylation of the IFNG promoter. In conclusion, decreased IFNG expression of CD4(+) T cells co-cultured with lung cancer cell is associated with IFNG promoter hypermethylation. Our study suggests that interaction between lung cancer cells and CD4(+) T cells induces DNMT expression and IFNG promoter hypermethylation in CD4(+) T cell, which may serve as an important mechanism of tumor-induced immunosuppression.

This article examines culture and heritage protection and tourism development status in China. The background of cultural heritage tourism development is first introduced and then the risk of loss of unique and nonrenewable cultural heritage assets, and community benefits and all the stakeholders' interest associated with the cultural heritage tourism are discussed. In the literature review of Chinese cultural heritage tourism development, topics examined include the analysis of protection systems, construction of the legal and management system, and the involvement of capital, theory, technology, talent and public in academic studies. Chinese cultural heritage tourism research has been focused on topics such as the study of folk houses, ancient cities, but the examination of tourism attractions is comparatively lacking. There are a number of studies on the internal and external management of heritage places, but not so many from the perspective of tourists. A case study is provided that examines the protection, management and tourism development of cultural heritage in China.

Acidosis, associated with metabolic disorders, leads to the pathological changes of cognition and behavior in the clinical practices of neurology and psychology. The cellular mechanisms underlying these cerebral dysfunctions remain unclear. By using electrophysiological approach and changing extracellular pH, we have investigated the effects of acidic environment on cortical GABAergic neurons in terms of their abilities of firing spikes and responses to synaptic inputs. Artificial cerebral spinal fluid in low pH impairs the responses to excitatory synaptic inputs and the abilities of encoding sequential spikes at these GABAergic neurons. The impairments of neuronal spiking are associated with the increases of refractory periods and threshold potentials. Our studies reveal that acidosis may impair cortical GABAergic neurons and in turn deteriorate brain functions, in which their final targets are voltage-gated sodium channels and glutamate receptor-channels.

Arteries from the first segment of the middle cerebral and adjacent normal blood vessel specimens were collected from 19 patients who had died from cerebral infarction. According to morphologic examination the atherosclerotic plaque present was classified as stable or unstable. The expression of ubiquitin conjugates and nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) was assessed and found significantly higher in plaques than normal tissue and higher in unstable plaques than in stable plaques. Ubiquitin conjugates and NF-κB were positively correlated with each other. It was concluded that the ubiquitin proteasome system and NF-κB possibly play a role in the development of atherosclerotic plaques in intracranial arteries.

Ecotourism is a mode of sustainable tourism development that can bring about good economic benefit to the local place, which has been proved by many successful cases at home and abroad. Economic benefit acquired from domestic ecotourism development is mainly distributed among the local residents, the governments and the developers. The residents can obtain vested income from land acquisition compensation fund on the one hand, and also obtain future income through governmental comprehensive resettlement on the other hand. In the reality, because the residents lack the discourse power, it is difficult to guarantee their political rights, the residentspsila benefits are damaged in the land acquisition compensation, follow-up settlement and benefit distribution of ecotourism, and the residents have to bear the negative effect caused by the development of ecotourism. To solve this problem, it is necessary to improve the political position of local residents, stick to the marketing operation of ecotourism development and to consolidate it in legal means.
