- Abstract
Early childhood is a pivotal period for developing environmental awareness and sustainable behaviors, During this age period, social learning theory contributes to understanding how young children form behavioral patterns. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of the Ecological Footprint Awareness Program based on social cognitive learning theory in 60-72-month-old children. This study was conducted using a cluster randomized controlled pretest-posttest experimental design. It was carried out in four preschools located in a city center between April and June 2023. Two of the preschools were assigned to the intervention group while the other two were assigned to the control group. Data was collected using the Ecological Footprint Awareness Scale for Children (EFAS-C). The Social learning theory based on Ecological Footprint Awareness Program was carried out with the children in the intervention group for a period of six weeks, with one session of 40 min per week. The program covered waste management, water and energy use, food consumption, and transportation, with one topic each week. The data was analyzed using descriptive statistics, paired groups t-test, and independent groups t-test, with a 95% confidence interval and p <.05 significance level. At the end of the study, it was found that the ecological footprint awareness of the children who participated in the training program was higher than those who did not participate in the training program. This randomized controlled trial provides strong evidence for the impact of environmental education programs based on social cognitive learning on young children's understanding and actions regarding their ecological footprint. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of a basic first aid course given at the Faculty of Dentistry of a university. Methods: This study was quasi-experimental with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The population of the study consisted of students (N=67) who took the Basic First Aid elective course at the Faculty of Dentistry of a university in the 2023-2024 academic year. 'Socio-Demographic Form' and 'Basic First Aid Knowledge Questionnaire' developed by the researchers were used as data collection tools. Descriptive statistics (number, percentage, mean, standard deviation) and chi-square test in paired groups were used. Results: The mean age of the students participating in the study was 18.98±1.46 years, 56.7% were female and 65 of them (97%) were single. In the post-training period, the correct response rates of the students to the questions related to first aid increased. The highest increases in the correct response rates were observed in the answers given to questions related to bleeding, loss of consciousness disorders, fractures, burns and sprains (p<0.05). Conclusion: As a result, students who receive first aid training will act more calmly and confidently in emergency situations and intervene correctly. Therefore, first aid training should be compulsory in the curricula of dental faculties. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Aim: This study aims to determine the risk of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and associated factors in university students who are COVID-19 positive and recovered. Material and Methods: The population of this descriptive study consisted of all undergraduate students (N=15.541) studying at a university between December 2021 and January 2022, and the sample consisted of 486 students who agreed to participate in the study. Socio-Demographic Questionnaire Form, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Short Scale (PTSD-CS), Childhood Trauma Scale (CTS), and Risky Behaviors Scale (RDS) were used as data collection tools. The data were analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 program by percentile, mean, one-way ANOVA, independent sample t-test, correlation, and multiple linear regression analysis. Results: 77% of the participants were women, and the mean PTSDCS total score was 15.17±9.40 (min=0; max=36). The mean PTSD-CS scores of women (p=0.001), those with chronic diseases (p=0.01), and smokers (p=0.004) were found to be high (p=0.01). There was a statistically significant relationship between CTS total, emotional abuse, physical abuse, emotional neglect, sexual abuse, and overprotection and control sub-dimensions and the mean PTSD-CS scores. A significant relationship was found between all subdimensions of the RDS scale and the mean PTSD-CS score. Conclusion: Approximately one-fifth of the students are at risk of post-traumatic stress disorder. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: This systematic review was conducted to determine the effects of laughter therapy on physical and mental health in individuals with different health conditions. Materials and Methods: The PICOS format was used to determine eligibility criteria in this systematic review. The PRISMA checklist was used for data summarization and result reporting. In this systematic review assessed randomized controlled trials published in Turkish and English in the EBSCO, Web of Science, Wiley Online Library, PubMed, National Thesis Center, National Academic Network and Ulakbim databases from January 2005 to November 2020. The keywords "laughter therapy OR laughter yoga" were used for the search. The quality assessment of the included studies was performed with the Critical Appraisal Checklist tool prepared by The Joanna Briggs Institute. This study was completed with 16 randomized controlled trials meeting the research criteria. Results: At the end of the study, the laughter therapy was found to be effective in reducing pain, depression, stress, and anxiety in individuals and increasing sleep quality. There was limited evidence for the effect of therapy on somatization, blood glucose, blood pressure, endorphin, and cortisol levels. Conclusion and recommendations: It was determined that laughter therapy can be considered as an appropriate approach for public health nurses to improve the physical and mental health of individuals and its effectiveness can be tested. Laughter therapy can be recommended by healthcare professionals working in hospitals or community centers as a non-pharmacological, simple, inexpensive and therapeutic method that they can benefit from in care., Objective: Laughter yoga/therapy is a non-humorous laughter inducing exercise consisting of breathing techniques and positively changes the mood. Çalışanların %62.1’i fonksiyonlarında zorluk çekmediğini, %33.3’ühafif derece zorlandığını belirtmiştir. Semptomlar açısından incelendiğinde; çalışanların%42.5’inde karpal tünel sendromuna yönelik belirti olmadığı, %47’sinde hafifderecede, %9.8’inde ise orta derecede belirtiler olduğu bulunmuştur. ÇalışanlarınSemptom şiddeti skalası ile fonksiyonel durum skalası puan ortalamalarıarasında pozitif yönde, orta düzeyde anlamlı ilişki bulunmuştur (r=.67;p=0.00). Buna göre çalışanlarda karpal tünel sendromu semptomları attıkçafonksiyonel durum kapasitesinde yetersizlik artmaktadır.
