Over the years, urbanization has caused the quality of the water to decline gradually. The production of wastewater has been steadily rising alongside the growth of numerous businesses, including medicines, textiles, processed foods, and many more. Organic molecules from a variety of sources make up the majority of contaminants in wastewater. Some of these chemical molecules are not biodegradable, and it is challenging for anaerobic bacteria to break them down entirely. Because of the molecular structure of them, they can be quite persistent. Several advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) have been studied to remediate wastewater that contains trace organic chemicals (TrOCs). These include ozonation, Fenton oxidation, catalytic wet air oxidation, and photocatalytic oxidation. AOPs have excellent efficiencies, quick oxidation rates, and no secondary pollutants. Each AOP adheres to a particular mechanism in specific circumstances. In this article, we have comprehensively reviewed the underlying mechanism, and factors affecting oxidative pollutant degradation efficiency.

Purpose No standard treatment exists for patients with cholangiocarcinoma for whom first-line gemcitabine-based therapy fails. Fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 ( FGFR2) fusions/translocations are present in 13% to 17% of intrahepatic cholangiocarcinomas. BGJ398, an orally bioavailable, selective pan-FGFR kinase inhibitor, has shown preliminary clinical activity against tumors with FGFR alterations. Methods A multicenter, open-label, phase II study ( ClinicalTrials.gov identifier: NCT02150967) evaluated BGJ398 antitumor activity in patients age ≥ 18 years with advanced or metastatic cholangiocarcinoma containing FGFR2 fusions or other FGFR alterations whose disease had progressed while receiving prior therapy. Patients received BGJ398 125 mg once daily for 21 days, then 7 days off (28-day cycles). The primary end point was investigator-assessed overall response rate. Results Sixty-one patients (35 women; median age, 57 years) with FGFR2 fusion (n = 48), mutation (n = 8), or amplification (n = 3) participated. At the prespecified data cutoff (June 30, 2016), 50 patients had discontinued treatment. All responsive tumors contained FGFR2 fusions. The overall response rate was 14.8% (18.8% FGFR2 fusions only), disease control rate was 75.4% (83.3% FGFR2 fusions only), and estimated median progression-free survival was 5.8 months (95% CI, 4.3 to 7.6 months). Adverse events included hyperphosphatemia (72.1% all grade), fatigue (36.1%), stomatitis (29.5%), and alopecia (26.2%). Grade 3 or 4 treatment-related adverse events occurred in 25 patients (41%) and included hyperphosphatemia (16.4%), stomatitis (6.6%), and palmar-plantar erythrodysesthesia (4.9%). Conclusion BGJ398 is a first-in-class FGFR kinase inhibitor with manageable toxicities that shows meaningful clinical activity against chemotherapy-refractory cholangiocarcinoma containing FGFR2 fusions. This promising antitumor activity supports continued development of BGJ398 in this highly selected patient population.

The syntheses of the neutral molybdenum imido alkylidene N‐heterocyclic carbene (NHC) complexes of the general formula [Mo(NAr)(CHCMe2Ph)(NHC)XY] (Ar=2‐tBu‐C6H4, 2‐CF3‐C6H4, 2,6‐Me2‐C6H3, 2,6‐Cl2‐C6H3, adamantyl; X, Y=OTf, OC(CF3)3, OCH(CF3)2, OC6F5, SC6F5, 2,5‐bis(pentafluorophenyl)phen‐1‐yl) bearing electron‐withdrawing NHCs (1,3‐dimethyl‐4,5‐dichloroimidazol‐2‐ylidene (IMeCl2), 1,3,4‐triphenyl‐1,2,4‐triazol‐5‐ylidene (TPT)) are reported. Complementary, the corresponding cationic molybdenum imido alkylidene NHC complexes of the general formula [Mo(NAr)(CHCMe2R)(NHC)X+][B(ArF)4−/Al(OC(CF3)3)4−] (R=Me, Ph; B(ArF)4−=tetrakis (3,5‐bis(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)borate) have been prepared. Aiming at tungsten oxo complexes, reaction of [W(O)Cl2(CHCMe2Ph)(PMe2Ph)2] with [1,3‐dimethyl‐4,5‐dichloroimidazol‐2‐ylidene⋅AgI] (IMeCl2⋅AgI) followed by the addition of lithium terphenoxide yields [W(O)(CHCMe2Ph)(IMeCl2)(DPPO)2]. For comparison, [W(O)Cl(CHCMe2Ph)(IMes)(OSi(OtBu)3)] was prepared via reaction of [W(O)Cl2(CHCMe2Ph)(PMe2Ph)(IMes)] with KOSi(OtBu)3. [W(O)(CHCMe2Ph)(IMeCl2)(DPPO)(Et2O)+][B(ArF)4−] (DPPO=2,6‐diphenylphenoxide) became accessible via reaction of [W(O)(DPPO)2(CHCMe2Ph)(IMeCl2)] with anilinium B(ArF)4−. The structural peculiarities of selected complexes are reported. Benchmark ring‐closing metathesis and homometathesis reactions revealed that the neutral complexes bearing weakly coordinating NHCs such as IMeCl2 and TPT possessed only moderate activity, which could, however, be improved by preparing the corresponding cationic metal alkylidene complexes.
