Abstract

Rare-earth-based triangular-lattice magnets provide the fertile ground to explore the exotic quantum magnetic state. Herein, we report a new family of RE-based triangular-lattice magnets Ba6RE2Ti4O17(RE= rare earth ions) crystallized into the hexagonal structure with space group of P63 mmc, where magnetic rare earth ions form an ideal triangular lattice within the ab-plane and stack in an AA -type fashion along the c-axis. The low-temperature magnetic susceptibility results reveal all the serial compounds have the dominant antiferromagnetic interactions and an absence of magnetic ordering down to 1.8 K. The magnetization and electron spin resonance results indicate distinct magnetic anisotropy for the compounds with different RE ions. Moreover, Ba6Nd2Ti4O17 single crystal is successfully grown and it exhibits strong Ising like anisotropy with magnetic easy-axis perpendicular to the triangle-lattice plane, being a candidate to explore quantum spin liquid state with dominant Ising-type interaction., Comment: 20 pages, 8 figures

Abstract

Rare-earth (RE) kagome-lattice magnets offer an excellent platform to discover the novel magnetic phase as well as quantum phase transition tuned by non-thermal control parameters, while the experimental realizations remain largely unexplored. Here, we report the discovery of magnetic-field (B)-induced anisotropic quantum phase transition in a distorted kagome antiferromagnet Nd3BWO9 with TN~0.32 K. The isothermal magnetizations at 0.05 K exhibit the spin-flop like metamagnetic crossover behaviors with different fractional magnetization anomalies for B perpendicular (B // c-axis) and parallel (B // a*-axis) to the kagome plane, respectively. In combination with the thermodynamic measurements, the field-temperature (B-T) phase diagrams for both field directions are constructed and that reveal the existence of several field-induced magnetic states. Along the c-axis, a proximate quantum bicritical point is observed near the metamagnetic crossover, which separates the low-field antiferromagnetic (AFM) phase and the intermediate AFM phase. While, for B // a*, another intermediate magnetic phase (IAFM2) appears between the low-field AFM phase and intermediate AFM (IAFM1) phase, giving rise to a tetracritical point. These results support the anisotropic field-induced metamagnetic quantum criticalities in Nd3BWO9, making it as a rare kagome antiferromagnet to investigate the quantum multi-criticality driven by spin frustration., Comment: 22 pages, 7 figures

Abstract

Rare-earth (RE) based honeycomb-lattice materials with strong spin-orbit coupled Jeff=1/2 moments have attracted great interest as a platform to realize Kitaev quantum spin liquid (QSL) state. Herein, we report the discovery of a new family of RE based honeycomb-lattice magnets Ba9RE2(SiO4)6(RE=Ho-Yb), which crystallize into the rhombohedral structure with space group R-3. In these serial compounds, magnetic RE3+ ions are arranged on a perfect honeycomb lattice within the ab-plane and stacked in the ABCABC-type fashion along the c-axis. All Ba9RE2(SiO4)6(RE=Ho-Yb) polycrystals exhibit the dominant antiferromagnetic interactions and absence of magnetic order down to 2 K. In combination with the magnetization and electron spin resonance (ESR) results, distinct anisotropic magnetic behaviors are proposed for compounds with different RE ions. Moreover, the synthesized Ba9Yb2Si6O24 single crystals show large magnetic frustration and no long-range magnetic ordering down to 0.15 K, being a possible QSL candidate state. 24. Cause and mechanism analysis of cracking and leakage of water wall tube

Abstract

In this paper, the cracking and leakage cause of the water wall tube was studied by means of macro morphology analysis, chemical composition analysis, microstructure detection, mechanical properties test and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) analysis. The results indicated that the cracking of water wall reducer is mainly related to high temperature fatigue and sulfur corrosion. During operation, under the combined action of thermal expansion and contraction caused by frequent boiler load changes and axial alternating stress caused by pipe wall vibration, thermal fatigue cracks are gradually formed on the outer wall of the steel pipe toward the fire side. Under the combined action of the alternating stress and S corrosion, the cracks are gradually spread from outer to inner wall, and finally penetrate the tube wall, causing leakage. Finally, the corresponding preventive measures of water wall leakage are put forward to improve the safety and economy of power plant boiler.

30. Effect of 1-methylcyclopropene combined with low temperature treatment on the fresh-keeping effect of Creeson grapes.

Abstract

In order to study the effect of 1-methylcyclopropene combined with low temperature treatment on the preservation effect of post-harvest Cressen grape, grapes picked on the same day were fumigated with 0.5, 1,1. 5, 2 µL/L 1-MCP for 4 h, without 1-MCP as control, then, they were stored in preservation storage at (0±0.5) t and relative humidity 80% for 90 days. Samples were taken every 15 days during storage to observe the preservation effect of grape fruit and determine the related physiological indexes. The results show that on the 90th day of storage, compared with the control fruits, the abscission rate and decay rate of the fruits stored with 1.5 µ L/L 1-MCP in combination with low-temperature storage decreased by 55.1% and 47.8%, respectively, and the hardness, soluble solids and titratable acid of fruits increased by 17.6%, 35% and 36.4%, respectively. Combination of 1.5 µL/L 1-MCP with storage at (0±0.5) °C could effectively maintain the storage quality and prolong the preservation life of Cressen grapes. Abstract

Little information is known about DNA methylation variation in shaping environment‐specific drought resistance and resilience for tree adaptation. In this study, we leveraged RNA sequencing and whole‐genome bisulfite sequencing data to dissect the distinction of epigenetic regulation under drought stress and rewater condition of Populus tomentosa accessions from three geographical regions. We demonstrated low resistance and high resilience for accessions from South. Non‐CG methylation levels in promoter regions of Southern accessions were lower than accessions from higher latitudes and negatively regulated gene expression. CHH context methylation was more sensitive to drought stress, and the geographical‐specific differentially methylated regions were scarcely changed by environmental fluctuation. We identified 60 conserved hub genes within the co‐expression networks that correlate with photosynthetic and stomatal morphological traits. Epigenome‐wide association studies and genome‐wide association studies of these 60 hub genes revealed the interdependency between genetic and epigenetic variation in GATA9 and LECRK‐VIII.2, which was associated with stomatal morphology and chlorophyll content. The natural epigenetic variation in GATA9 was also faithfully transmitted to progenies in two family‐based F1 populations. This study indicates a functional relationship of DNA methylation diversity with drought resistance and resilience which offers new insights into plants' local adaptation to a stressful environment. Abstract

Stomata are essential for photosynthesis and abiotic stress tolerance. Here, we used multiomics approaches to dissect the genetic architecture and adaptive mechanisms that underlie stomatal morphology in Populus tomentosa juvenile natural population (303 accessions). We detected 46 candidate genes and 15 epistatic gene‐pairs, associated with 5 stomatal morphologies and 18 leaf development and photosynthesis traits, through genome‐wide association studies. Expression quantitative trait locus mapping revealed that stomata‐associated gene loci were significantly associated with the expression of leaf‐related genes; selective sweep analysis uncovered significant differentiation in the allele frequencies of genes that underlie stomatal variations. An allelic regulatory network operating under drought stress and adequate precipitation conditions, with three key regulators (DUF538, TRA2 and AbFH2) and eight interacting genes, was identified that might regulate leaf physiology via modulation of stomatal shape and density. Validation of candidate gene variations in drought‐tolerant and F1 hybrid populations of P. tomentosa showed that the DUF538, TRA2 and AbFH2 loci cause functional stabilisation of spatiotemporal regulatory, whose favourable alleles can be faithfully transmitted to offspring.
