4. Variability of Root and Shoot Traits under PEG-Induced Drought Stress at an Early Vegetative Growth Stage of Soybean.

The performance of a soybean genotype under water deficit stress at an early vegetative stage might be related to its general tolerance to drought. To investigate the plasticity of root and shoot seedling traits in response to drought at an early vegetative stage, a set of 32 soybean genotypes adapted to southeast European growing conditions was grown under polyethylene glycol (PEG) 8000-induced drought stress and well-watered control conditions. Under drought, mean tap root length (RL), shoot length (SL), root fresh weight (RFW) and shoot fresh weight (SFW) decreased significantly by 11, 17, 38 and 34%, respectively, while root dry matter (RDM) and shoot dry matter (SDM) increased significantly by 13 and 11%, respectively. Of the four derived traits, the ratios of RL/SL, RL/RFW and SL/SFW increased significantly by 8, 45 and 28%, respectively, under drought, while the ratio of RFW/SFW decreased significantly by 4%. However, a wide variation between genotypes was observed for all 10 studied seedling traits under both control and drought conditions. Broad sense heritability ranged from 0.53 (RL) to 0.97 (SL) under control conditions and from 0.56 (RL/RFW) to 0.96 (SL) under drought conditions. The correlation coefficients between the traits were either weak or moderate, indicating that the studied traits can be modified independently by selection. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The reason for this examination is today's wide usage of chlorophyll a fluorescence (ChlF) among researchers worldwide to measure photosynthetic efficiency. Although the instructions of the ChlF measuring device clearly emphasize the need for methodology adjustments, depending on the specific plant species, many researchers use the usual 30 min of dark adaptation before measurement. Namely, before any ChlF measurement, it is necessary to determine the specific duration of the leaf adaptation to the conditions of darkness of each plant tissue. Because of the numerous uses of the ChlF measurements, we decided to conduct this research to determine whether the appearance of the curves and parameter values depend on the time of sunflower leaf tissue adaptation to dark conditions. Therefore, this research aimed to examine the optimal adaptation time of sunflower tissue to dark conditions to obtain timely precise measurements and credible appearance of ChlF transient curves as well as accurate parameter values. The research was carried out on the sunflower hybrid Luka with 0, 15, 30, 45, 60, 75 and 90 min of dark adaptation in the vegetative, budding and flowering stages in the field conditions. According to the analyzed transient curves and parameters, it was determined that sunflower leaves should be kept in dark conditions for at least 15 min before the measurement of ChlF, which leads to the complete oxidation of PSII and the electron transport chain prior to a saturating pulse of light. The objective of this study was to determine the progress in grain yield and grain quality accomplished with conventional breeding methods, as well as to identify stable, widely or specifically adapted genotypes under central European growing conditions. Recently developed soybean elite lines of maturity groups (MGs) 00, 0 and I were compared with commercial cultivars (standards) in comparative field tests during three consecutive years (2018-2020) in Osijek, Croatia. The ANOVA results showed significant genotype, environment, and genotype-by-environment interaction effects. There was a significant improvement in productivity and quality in comparison to standards, while stability parameters for tested traits indicated there are stable and mostly specifically adaptable elite lines. Improvement of the domestic gene pool and high agronomic performances of elite lines stable in most important economic traits will considerably contribute to increasing and improving soybean production in central Europe.

- Abstract
Mitigating the effects of changing climate with adaptable cultivars while reducing the input burden of additional selection criteria is becoming a priority, especially as water shortage is limiting soybean production in Europe. To evaluate the functionality of the photosynthetic apparatus in drought, chlorophyll a (Chl a) fluorescence was measured in 16 elite soybean lines in drought and conditions with sufficient water supply in V2 (second node), R1 (beginning bloom), R4 (full pod), R5 (beginning seed) and R6 (full seed) stages. Developmental stage was a significant source of variation for all parameters, and PItotal was chosen as the most sensitive parameter in detecting the average drought effect. Genotypes G5, G9, and G10 had superior overall functioning of the photosynthetic apparatus in drought, while the photosynthetic apparatus of G12 and G16 was the least functional. The drought effect was determined to be the most relevant in R1, R4 and R6. G14 had highest PItotal in drought conditions in R1 and R4, while G9 had the highest drought-stressed PItotal in R6. G7 had the lowest drought-stressed PItotal in R1, G4 and G6 had the lowest in R4, and G8 had the lowest in R6. PItotal proved useful in breeding for abiotic stress tolerance, especially for excluding the material with the poorest photosynthetic apparatus function, which increases the efficiency of the selection process when a large number of genotypes needs to be screened. However, genotypes with superior photosynthetic apparatus functioning should be further tested in yield trials to confirm their drought tolerance and value for use in drought conditions., Ublažavanje negativnih posljedica klimatskih promjena stvaranjem adaptabilnih sorti bez opterećenja selekcije dodatnim troškovima od velikog je značaja, osobito jer suša sve više ograničava proizvodnju soje u Europi. Za procjenu funkcionalnosti fotosintetskog aparata u suši, fluorescencija klorofila a (Chl a) mjerena je na 16 elitnih linija soje u suši i uvjetima dovoljne opskrbe vodom u V2 (drugi nodij), R1 (početak cvatnje), R4 (puni razvoj mahuna), R5 (začetak formiranja sjemena) i R6 (puni razvoj sjemena) fazama. Razvojna faza bila je značajan izvor varijacija za sve parametre, a PItotal parametar je odabran kao najosjetljiviji u otkrivanju prosječnog učinka suše. Genotipovi G5, G9 i G10 imali su superiorno funkcioniranje fotosintetskog aparata u suši, a G12 i G16 najmanje funkcionalan fotosintetski aparat u suši. Utvrđeno je da je učinak suše najrelevantniji u R1, R4 i R6 fazama razvoja. Fotosintetski aparat G14 genotipa bio je najmanje osjetljiv na sušu u R1 i R4 fazama razvoja, dok je kod G9 bio najmanje osjetljiv u R6. G7 je imao najmanje funkcionalan fotosintetski aparat u uvjetima suše u R1, G4 i G6 su imali najmanje funkcionalan fotosintetski aparata u uvjetima suše u R4, a G8 u R6. Uporaba PItotal u oplemenjivanju na tolerantnost prema abiotskom stresu pokazala se korisnom, posebice za isključenje materijala s najlošijim funkcioniranjem fotosintetskog aparata, što povećava učinkovitost selekcijskog procesa kada je potrebno procijeniti veliki broj genotipova. Međutim, genotipove sa superiornim funkcioniranjem fotosintetskog aparata potrebno je dodatno ispitati kako bi se potvrdila njihova tolerantnost i uporabna vrijednost u uvjetima suše.

Provedba makropokusa predstavlja jedan od bitnih elemenata u kvantifikaciji agronomskih svojstava hibrida suncokreta. Stoga su, s ciljem procjene prinosa zrna, sadržaja ulja te učinka fungicida na dominantne bolesti hibrida suncokreta, analizirani rezultati makropokusa na lokalitetu Čepin u razdoblju 2010. – 2020. godine. U pokusima je sudjelovalo 17 sjemenskih kuća, a ukupan broj hibrida tijekom istraživanja bio je 439. Najmanji broj hibrida bio je u 2010. godini (27), a najveći u 2018. godini (66). Prosječan prinos zrna u netretiranoj varijanti bio je 3,7 t ha-1, a u tretiranoj 3,8 t ha-1. Najveći prinos zrna ostvaren je 2017. godine: 4,6 t ha-1 u tretiranoj, a 4,5 t ha-1 u netretiranoj varijanti. Pojedinačno je po hibridu iste godine ostvaren i najveći prinos zrna u tretiranoj varijanti (5,8 t ha-1). Prosječan sadržaj ulja u netretiranoj varijanti iznosio je 44,04 %, a u tretiranoj 44,69 %. Najveći sadržaj ulja ostvaren je u tretiranoj varijanti 2011. godine, i to 46,73 %, a u netretiranoj varijanti 2012. godine, i iznosio je 45,78 %. Pojedinačno je po hibridu najveći sadržaj ulja (50,08 %) bio 2012. godine u tretiranoj varijanti. Najučinkovitije tretiranje suncokreta fungicidima bilo je u 2019. godini, kada je ostvareno povećanje prinosa zrna za 0,54 t ha-1 i sadržaja ulja za 0,78 %. Ostvareni prinos zrna, sadržaj ulja i učinak djelovanja fungicida u proizvodnji suncokreta u velikoj mjeri ovise o godini. Kvalitetne i pravovremeno primijenjene agrotehničke mjere, uz visok nivo znanja i iskustva proizvođača, od izuzetnoga su značenja za postignuće visokih i stabilnih prinosa zrna i sadržaja ulja suncokreta., Conducting macrotrials is one of the essential elements in the quantification of sunflower hybrids’ agronomic traits. Therefore, the results of macrotrials at the Čepin site in the 2010-20 period were analyzed with an objective of sunflower hybrids’ grain yield, oil content, and fungicide effect evaluation. Seventeen seed companies participated in the trials, and the total number of hybrids during the study amounted to 439. The lowest number of hybrids was in the year 2010 (27) and the highest in the year 2018 (66). The average grain yield in the untreated variant amounted to 3.7 t ha-1 and 3.8 t ha-1in treated. The highest grain yield was achieved in the year 2017: 4.6 t ha-1 in the treated and 4.5 t ha-1 in the untreated variant, respectively. The highest individual grain yield per hybrid in the treated variant (i.e., 5.8 t ha-1) was achieved in the same year. The average oil content in the untreated variant amounted to 44.04% and to 44.69% in the treated variant. The highest oil content in the treated variant was achieved in 2011 and amounted to 46.73%, while it amounted to 45.78% in the untreated variant in 2012. The highest oil content per hybrid (50.08%) was that in 2012 in the treated variant. The most effective sunflower fungicide treatment was the one in 2019, when the grain yield increased by 0.54 t ha-1, whereas the oil content was increased by 0.78%. In sunflower production, the achieved grain yield, oil content, and fungicide effect largely depend on the year. The quality and timely applied agrotechnical measures, with a high level of expertise and procedural experience, are of great importance for the obtainment of high and stable grain yields and sunflower oil contents.

Suncokret je u Republici Hrvatskoj najvažnija uljarica. U posljednja dva desetljeća prosječno se uzgajao na 33.506 ha s prinosom zrna od 2,66 t/ha. Korovi predstavljaju jedan od najvažnijih uzročnika biotičkog stresa, a njihovo djelovanje ogleda se kroz kompeticiju za hranjiva, vodu, svjetlost i prostor. Korovna flora u usjevima suncokreta u Hrvatskoj iznimno je raznolika, a najčešće susrećemo: Polygonum persicaria L., Polygonum lapathifolium L., Ambrosia artemisiifolia L., Chenopodium polyspermum L., Amaranthus retroflexus L., Solanum nigrum L. emend. Miller, Abutilon theophrasti Med., Datura stramonium L., Xanthium strumarium L., Convolvulus arvensis L., Cirsium arvense L. Scop., Echinochloa crus-galli L. Pb., Setaria glauca L. Pb., Setaria viridis L. Pb., Digitaria sanguinalis L. Scop., Panicum spp. i Sorghum halepense L. Pers. Dugi niz godina borba protiv korova u suncokretu bazirala se na intenzivnoj primjeni kemijskih sredstava, koji su se najčešće koristili nakon sjetve i prije nicanja, u dvostrukim ili trostrukim kombinacijama pripravaka. I pored niza prednosti upotrebe herbicida u proizvodnji suncokreta, problem širokolisnih korova, zbog ograničenog izbora herbicida, nije na zadovoljavajući način riješen. Pojavom kultivara Clearfield, Clearfield plus i Express sun tehnologije, odnosno kultivara tolerantnih na herbicide iz kemijske skupine imidazolinona (imazamoksa) i sulfonilurea (tribenuron-metila) herbicida, početkom ovog stoljeća znatno je olakšano suzbijanje širokolisnih korovnih vrsta u suncokretu. Osim spomenutih mogućnosti, a u skladu s novim trendovima, integrirana zaštita bilja od korova holističkim pristupom, odnosno primjenom izravnih i neizravnih nekemijskih mjera pruža ekološki prihvatljivo rješenje u borbi s korovima u suncokretu., Sunflower is the most important oil crop in the Republic of Croatia. In the last two decades, it has been grown on average on 33,506 ha with a average grain yield of 2.66 t/ha. Weeds represent one of the most important causes of biotic stress, and their action is reflected in the competition for nutrients, water, light and space. The weed flora in sunflower crops in Croatia is extremely diverse, and we will most often meet: Polygonum persicaria L., Polygonum lapathifolium L., Ambrosia artemisiifolia L., Chenopodium polyspermum L., Amaranthus retroflexus L., Solanum nigrum L. emend Miller, Abutilon theophrasti Medik, Datura stramonium L., Xanthium strumarium L., Convolvulus arvensis L., Cirsium arvense (L.) Scop., Echinochloa crus-galli (L.) Pb., Setaria glauca (L.) Pb., Setaria viridis (L.) Pb., Digitaria sanguinalis (L.) Scop., Panicum spp. and Sorghum halepense (L.) Pers. For many years, weed control was based on the intensive use of chemical preparations, which were most often used after sowing and before emergence, in double or triple combinations. In addition to a number of advantages of using chemicals in sunflower production, the problem of broadleaf weeds was not satisfactorily solved until the advent of Clearfield, Clearfield plus and Express sun technology, i.e. hybrids tolerant to herbicides from the group of imidazolinone (imazamox) and sulfonyl-urea (tribenuron-methyl) at the beginning of this century. Integrated plant protection, including integrated weed management, with its holistic approach and greater application of direct and indirect non-chemical measures, is only environmental quality solution for controlling weeds in sunflowers.

Proteins represent one of the most concentrated nutrients in legumes and they can be easily used as components in innovative human foods and therefore, have attracted interest of food industry. Legume proteins extractable in dilute salt solutions belong to the globulin family of seed storage proteins and are called legumins (11S), vicilins (7S) and convicilin (15S). The content of water soluble proteins is a critical factor in food quality and production of isolated soybean proteins. The total grain proteins of soybean and pea varieties were determined on Infratec 1241 Grain Analyzer, while the total soluble proteins were analyzed by the HPLC. Proteins extractability (%) was calculated as a ratio of total soluble proteins and total grain proteins on a dry weight basis (DM). On average, soybean varieties contained 40.22% of total grain proteins compared to 22.46% in peas, while the content of total soluble proteins varied from 124.80 mg/gDM to 175.36 mg/gDM in soybeans and from 60.84 mg/gDM to 89.06 mg/gDM in peas. Extractability of soluble proteins varied from 30.74% to 43.16% in soybeans and from 27.05% to 41.26% in peas, which means that the content and extractability of soluble proteins depends on the type and variety of legumes.

Cink (Zn) i selen (Se) su esencijalni elementi neophodni za rast i razvoj ljudi i životinja, a niske koncentracije Se i Zn u tlu mogu rezultirati s pothranjenošću ljudi uslijed niskih koncentracija Se i Zn u biljkama i hrani. Problem pothranjenosti moguće je riješiti genetskom i agronomskom biofortifikacijom, tj. obogaćivanjem jestivih dijelova usjeva cinkom i selenom. Cilj istraživanja bio je usporediti učinkovitost pojedinačne (biofortifikacija) ili istovremene (kobiofortifikacija) folijarne aplikacije otopina cinkovog sulfata (6 kg ha-1 Zn u obliku ZnSO4) i natrijevog selenata (30 g ha-1 Se u obliku Na2SeO4) na akumulaciju cinka i selena u zrnu šest sorata soje (Glycine max L.). Prosječno su u kontrolnim tretmanima zrna soje utvrđene koncentracije 45, 2 mg kg-1 Zn i Se 0, 061 mg kg- 1, a pojedinačne i istovremene biofortifikacije Zn i Se rezultirale su značajno većom akumulacijom Zn (37, 1 i 41, 9 %) i Se (41, 8 i 39, 3 puta) u odnosu na kontrolni tretman. Pri tome u prosjeku nije bilo značajnih razlika između pojedinačne i istovremene biofortifikacije, ali su utvrđene značajne razlike između sorata soje. Najveća koncentracija Se u zrnu utvrđena je kobiofortifkacijom (istovremena aplikacija Se i Zn) sorte Sunce (3, 03 mg kg- 1), što je čak 96 puta veća koncentracija nego u zrnu bez biofortifikacije (0, 031 mg kg-1), a najveća koncentracija Zn kobiofortifkacijom sorte Toma (79, 1 mg kg-1). Kobiofortifikacija selenom i cinkom rezultirala je značajno manjom koncentracijom Se u zrnu sorata Korana (2, 25 mg kg-1) i Lucija (1, 28 mg kg-1) u odnosu na pojedinačnu biofortifikaciju selenom (2, 90 i 2, 09 mg kg-1), kod sorte Sunce kobiofortifikacijom je značajno povećana koncentracija Se (3, 03 vs. 2, 37 mg kg-1), a kod ostalih sorata nije bilo značajnih razlika. Istovremeno, kobiofortifikacija cinkom i selenom nije značajno smanjila koncentracije Zn u nijednoj sorti soje u odnosu na pojedinačnu biofortifikaciju cinkom (apliciran samo Zn), a značajno je povećala (9 %) koncentraciju Zn u zrnu sorte Toma (79, 10 vs. 72, 56 mg kg-1), što je povećanje koncentracije Zn čak 54, 7 % u odnosu na kontrolu (79, 1 vs. 54, 7 mg kg-1). Zaključak je da je utvrđena sortno specifična reakcija soje na kobiofortifikaciju selenom i cinkom, da kobiofortifikacija vrlo učinkovito povećava koncentracije Se i Zn u zrnu soje, da dodatak Se u postupku biofortifikacije Zn ne smanjuje već kod nekih sorata (Toma) značajno povećava učinkovitost biofortifikacije cinkom. Dodatak Zn u postupku biofortifikacije selenom može smanjiti (Korana, Lucija) ili povećati (Sunce) učinkovitost biofortifikacije selenom.

23. Rezultati trogodišnjeg istraživanja hibrida suncokreta na lokacijama u Koprivničko-križevačkoj i Osječko-baranjskoj županiji

Unazad nekoliko godina na području sjeverozapadne Hrvatske povećava se zanimanje poljoprivrednih proizvođača za uzgojem suncokreta. Stoga je u organizaciji Ministarstva poljoprivrede proveden trogodišnji komparativni pokus (2020.-2022.) na dvije lokacije: u Osječko-baranjskoj i Koprivničko-križevačkoj županiji, u kojem su testirani hibridi suncokreta zastupljeni na tržištu Republike Hrvatske. U sve tri godine na lokaciji u Osječko-baranjskoj županiji testirano je nekoliko hibrida više nego u Koprivničko- križevačkoj županiji. Cilj pokusa je bio procijeniti: 1.) visinu i stabilnost količine i kvalitete zrna hibrida, 2.) adaptabilnost hibrida i 3.) iskoristivost potencijala uzgojnog područja odgovarajućim hibridom. Agroekološki uvjeti uzgoja suncokreta međusobno su se razlikovali na lokacijama tijekom tri ispitivane godine. Analizirana su svojstva: urod, hektolitarska masa, masa 1000 zrna, vlaga zrna i sadržaj ulja. Rezultati istraživanja ukazuju na razlike u vrijednostima svih analiziranih svojstava po lokacijama, godinama i hibridima. Postignuti rezultati smjernica su izbora/preporuke odgovarajućih hibrida u komercijalnoj proizvodnji. Također se može zaključiti da agroekološki uvjeti u sjeverozapadnoj Hrvatskoj omogućuju uzgoj ranih hibrida suncokreta zadovoljavajuće razine uroda i kakvoće. Rezultati trogodišnjeg istraživanja suncokreta dokazuju da je moguće tradicionalno područje uzgoja suncokreta u istočnoj Hrvatskoj uspješno proširiti prema zapadnim područjima Republike Hrvatske.

As water shortage can significantly limit soybean production in Europe, breeding drought-tolerant cultivars while reducing the input burden of additional selection criteria is important, especially in the conventional, GMO-free breeding programmes. This study aimed to compare the photosynthetic efficiency of four genotypes in sufficient soil water supply (T1) and drought (T2) conditions, determining genotypes potentially more tolerant to drought occurring during seed filling. The results indicated that the maximum quantum yield of PSII photochemistry (TR0/ABS) remained at optimal levels, irrelevant of soil water status. The photosynthetic performance index on absorption basis (PIABS) and the performance index for energy conservation from exciton to the reduction of PSI end acceptors (PITOTAL) significantly changed only in genotype G3. Based on T2 PIABS and T2 PITOTAL, as well as stress tolerance indices (STI) for both parameters, genotype G3 was determined to have the least efficient photosynthetic apparatus in drought, while genotype G4 was determined to have the most efficient. Although PIABS and PITOTAL could be useful in eliminating genotypes with the most unfavourable trait values, especially in large scale genotype screenings for drought stress tolerance in early generations, stress tolerance of genotypes with superior photosynthetic performance should be confirmed in multi- environment yield trials.

Cink (Zn) se kao elemenat nephodan za rast i razvoj biljaka, životinja i ljudi nalazi u tlima diljem svijeta u različitim ukupnim i bioraspoloživim koncentracijama. Posljedično, koncentracije Zn mogu biti vrlo niske u biljkama i u hrani te u mnogim krajevima svijeta nedovoljne koncentracije Zn u prehrani ljudi rezultiraju tzv. skrivenom gladi. S ciljem prevencije skrivene gladi razvijena je agronomska biofortifikacija temeljena na gnojidbi mikroelementima s ciljem povećanja koncentracije određenog elementa u jestivom dijelu biljke. Istovremeno, genetska biofortifikacija za isti cilj može iskoristiti genotipsku različitost određene biljne vrste. Cilj istraživanja bio je utvrditi: 1) učinkovitost agronomske biofortifikacije soje (Glycine max L.) cinkom, te 2) postojanje genetske varijabilnosti germplazme soje (sortne specifičnosti) u akumulaciji Zn u zrnu nakon folijarne aplikacije cinka. Pokus sa 6 sorata soje postavljen je na lokaciji pokušališta Tenja u blizini Osijeka uz folijarnu aplikaciju 3 i 6 kg ha-1 Zn u obliku otopine ZnSO4 u fenofazi cvatnje. Prosječno za 6 istraživanih sorata soje u kontrolnom je tretmanu u zrnu bez aplikacije Zn utvrđeno 45, 24 mg kg- 1Zn, a oba tretmana aplikacije značajno su povećala koncentraciju Zn za 28, 33 % (58, 06 mg kg-1) i 37, 09 % (62, 02 mg kg-1), ali između aplikacija 3 i 6 kg ha-1 Zn prosječno nije bilo značajnih razlika. Međutim, sorte su se razlikovale već po prosječnim vrijednostima koje su za sva 3 tretamana bile od namanjih 46, 88 mg kg-1 (sorta Sunce) do najvećih 63, 74 mg kg-1 (sorta Toma). Još su veće razlike utvrđene u reakciji sorata na aplikaciju dvije različite količine Zn. Pri tome se značajno izdvajaju sorte Sunce i Ika. Sorta Sunce je jedina sorta kod koje nije utvrđeno značajno povećanje koncentracije Zn u zrnu (samo do 12, 6 %, od 44, 48 do 50, 09 mg kg-1). Kod sorte Ika, ikao je utvrđeno značajno povećanje, bilo je samo 18, 53 % i to već 17, 16 % pri aplikaciji 3 kg ha-1. Ipak, sorta Ika imala je vrlo visoku koncentraciju na kontrolnom tretmanu (49, 54 mg kg-1). Sorte Sunce i Ika su i jedine sorte kod kojih 6 kg ha-1 Zn nije rezultiralo značajnim povećanjem koncentracije u odnosu na tretman 3 kg ha-1. Najveću grupu sorata čine Korana, Lucija i Sonja kod kojih je s početnih 37, 03 do 46, 27 mg kg-1značajno povećana koncentracija primjenom 3 kg ha-1 (54, 68- 59, 93), ali je i primjenom 6 kg ha-1 dodatno značajno povećana koncentracija (64, 62-65, 52). Ukupno je povećanje koncentracije kod ovih sorata 39, 7 % (Sonja) do 76, 9 % (Korana). Navedenim sortama vrlo je slična sorta Toma, ali je ipak izdvojena jer je utvrđena najveća koncentracija Zn na kontrolnom (51, 12 mg kg-1) i ostalim tretmanima (67, 55 i 72, 56 mg kg-1) uz ukupno povećanje koncentracije 41, 9 %. Zaključno, utvrđen je veliki potencijal agronomske biofortifikacije soje s dokazano mogućim povećanjem koncentracije Zn blizu 77 % i ukupnom koncentracijom Zn u zrnu do 72, 6 mg kg-1. Također, utvrđena je i sortna specifi čnost s manjim brojem sorata niske učinkovitosti folijarne aplikacije Zn.

The study aimed to determine the justification for irrigation in the grain filling stage and determine the difference in sunflower hybrids' sensitivity to the lack of water. Hybrids 7, 11 and 12 were singled out as being more sensitive to drought conditions than other hybrids according to the maximum quantum yield of photosystem II (TR0/ABS) and hybrids 7 and 11 were considered sensitive to drought conditions according to PIABS. As water regimes proved to be significant sources of variation, irrigating sunflower plants in the grain filling stage is considered justified. Also, the significant differences between tested genotypes justify using chlorophyll a fluorescence parameters to select breeding material that could supplement the conventional process of testing sunflower genotypes during breeding in dry conditions.

Koncentracija selena (Se) u usjevima odraz je koncentracije i bioraspoloživosti Se u tlu. Koncentracija Se u biljkama za hranu i krmu vrlo je značajna za hranidbu životinja i prehranu ljudi, ali u mnogim zemljama diljem svijeta zabilježene su vrlo niske razine Se u žitaricama, voću i povrću što posljedično dovodi do pothranjenosti ljudi selenom. Agronomska biofortifikacija usjeva, uključujući i soju (Glycine max L.), može ublažiti pothranjenost Se, a na učinkovitost biofortifi kacije mogu značajno utjecati različite reakcije sorti soje na folijarnu aplikaciju selena. Cilj ovog istraživanja bio je utvrditi: 1) učinkovitost agronomske biofortifikacije soje (Glycine max L.) selenom, te 2) postojanje genetske varijabilnosti germplazme soje (sortne specifi čnosti) u akumulaciji selena u zrnu nakon folijarne primjene selena. Pokus sa 6 sorata soje postavljen je na lokaciji pokušališta Tenja u blizini Osijeka uz folijarnu aplikaciju 10, 20 ili 30 g ha-1 Se u obliku Na2SeO4 u fenofazi cvatnje.Biofortifikacija selenom rezultirala je prosječnim (prosjek za svih 6 sorata) povećanjem koncentracija Se u zrnu soje sa značajnim razlikama između svih tretmana, od kontrolnog tretmana (0, 061 mg kg-1) do svih tretmana s aplikacijom Se (0, 86 ; 1, 86 i 2, 55 mg kg-1). Pri tome nije bilo značajnih razlika između sorata prema prosječnim koncentracijama Se, iako je najmanja koncentracija utvrđena u zrnu sorte Lucija (1, 18), a najveće u zrnu sorata Toma (1, 42) i Ika (1, 46). Međutim, sorte su se razlikovale u reakcijama na folijarnu primjenu rastućih količina Se, na temelju čega ih možemo svrstati u 2 grupe. U prvoj su grupi sorte Sunce, Lucija i Sonja s vrlo značajnim porastom koncentracija nakon aplikacije najniže (10 g ha-1) i srednje doze selena (20 g ha- 1), ali bez značajnog daljnjeg povećanja nakon aplikacije najveće doze (30 g ha-1). Navedene su sorte pri srednjoj dozi imale veće koncentracije Se (1, 95- 2, 00 mg kg-1) od ostalih sorata, ali koncentracije nakon aplikacije najveće doze Se (2, 09-2, 37 mg kg-1) bile su niže nego kod druge grupe sorata. U drugoj su grupi sorte Ika, Korana i Toma sa značajnim povećanjem koncentracija Se nakon aplikacije svake od tri doza Se te su najveće koncentracije utvrđene nakon aplikacije najveće doze (2, 60-3, 03 mg kg-1). Dakle, biofortifikacija soje selenom je vrlo uspješna kod svih sorata, ali postoji sortna specifi čnost akumulacije Se u zrnu soje jer je kod polovice sorata značajno povećanje postignuto i nakon aplikacije najveće doze Se, a kod preostalih sorata samo nakon najmanje i srednje doze selena.

The objective of this study was to determine the progress in grain yield and grain quality accomplished with conventional breeding methods, as well as to identify stable, widely or specifically adapted genotypes under central European growing conditions. Recently developed soybean elite lines of maturity groups (MGs) 00, 0 and I were compared with commercial cultivars (standards) in comparative field tests during three consecutive years (2018-2020) in Osijek, Croatia. The ANOVA results showed significant genotype, environment, and genotype-by-environment interaction effects. There was a significant improvement in productivity and quality in comparison to standards, while stability parameters for tested traits indicated there are stable and mostly specifically adaptable elite lines. Improvement of the domestic gene pool and high agronomic performances of elite lines stable in most important economic traits will considerably contribute to increasing and improving soybean production in central Europe. This four-year study with four elite soybean lines with different maturities was conducted to investigate the impact of deficit (a field water capacity, or FWC, of 60%) and full irrigation (an FWC of 80–100%) on soybean grain yield and grain quality (grain protein and oil contents and crude protein and oil yields), depending on the environmental conditions and genotype. Overall, the irrigation effect was positive for the grain yield and grain protein content but negative for the grain oil content. The differences between the full and deficit irrigation were only 2.9% for the grain yield, 2.8% for the crude protein yield and 1.7% for the crude oil yield. The results indicate that deficit irrigation could be the best option for optimizing soybean production in environments similar to the tested one. In such conditions, further rationalization of soybean production could be achieved by choosing the C2 genotype (0 maturity group), which, combined with deficit irrigation, had the highest grain, crude protein and crude oil yields. Nedostanta koncentracija mikroelemenata u hrani rezulira pothranjenošću koju je moguće riješiti agronomskom ili genetskom biofortifikacijom. Cilj istraživanja bio je utvrditi utjecaj folijarne aplikacije mikrooelemenata na akumulaciju cinka (Zn) u zrnu suncokreta (Helianthus annuus L.) i soje (Glycine max L.). Pokus suncokreta postavljen je na jednom lokalitetu (Tenja), dok je pokus soje postavljen na dva lokaliteta (Tenja i Rakitovica) u istočnoj Hrvatskoj. Agronomska biofortifikacija suncokreta i soje provedena je folijarnom aplikacijom otopine ZnSO4 (100gZn/l) u fenofazi cvatnje u količini od 3 kg/ha Zn i 6 kg/ha Zn. Folijarna aplikacija Zn nije utjecala na povećanje prinosa zrna suncokreta i soje, ali je povećala kocentraciju Zn u zrnu. Folijarna aplikacija Zn u količini od 3 kg/ha povećala je koncentraciju Zn u zrnu suncokreta za 63, 4 % i koncentraciju Zn u zrnu soje za prosječno 17, 5 %. Folijarna aplikacija Zn u većoj koncentraciji od 6 kg/ha Zn povećala je koncentraciju Zn u zrnu suncokreta za 61 % i koncentraciju Zn u zrnu soje za prosječno 17, 8 %. U kontrolnom tretmanu u suncokretu je utvrđena koncentracija 39, 47 mg/kg Zn, a nakon folijarne aplikacije s 3 kg/ha Zn 64, 50 mg/kg Zn i sa 6 kg/ha Zn 63, 56 mg/kg Zn. Kontrolni tretman u soji prosječno je imao koncentraciju 42, 51 mg/kg Zn, a nakon folijarne aplikacije s 3 kg/ha Zn 49, 95 mg/kg Zn i sa 6 kg/ha Zn 50, 08 mg/kg Zn. Pokus je pokazao učinkovitost folijarne aplikacije cinkovim sulfatom na obogaćivanje biljnog materijala cinkom i opravdao postupak agronomske biofortifikacije s 3 kg/ha Zn dok aplikacija 6 kg/ha Zn nije dodatno povećala koncentraciju Zn.

Selen kao važan mikronutrijent ima značajnu ulogu u fiziološkim procesima kod ljudi, životinja, biljaka i mikroorganizama. Biofortifikacijom biljaka selenom povećava se njegova koncentracija u biljci, a u generativnoj fazi veliki dio selena bude translociran u zrno. Biofortifikacija kukuruza i soje selenom obavljena je folijarnom aplikacijom na tri lokaliteta: lokalitet 1 - Tenja, lokalitet 2 - Tenja i lokalitet 3 - Rakitovica. Cilj istraživanja bio je istražiti utjecaj folijarne aplikacije otopine natrijevog selenata na koncentraciju selena u zrnu soje i kukuruza. Četiri tretmana folijarne aplikacije provedeni su u fenofazi cvatnje soje i kukuruza (Se0 – kontrola bez selena, Se1 - 10 g/ha Se, Se2 – 20 g/ha Se i Se3 - 30 g/ha Se). Na lokalitetu 2 koncentracije selena u zrnu soje u odnosu na kontrolu (50, 5 µg/kg Se) bile su 7, 21 i 37 puta veće na tretmanima Se1 (374, 8 µg/kg Se), Se2 (1073, 8 µg/kg Se) i Se3 (1879, 3 µg/kg Se), dok su na lokalitetu 3 koncentracije tretmana Se1 (1003, 1 µg/kg Se) i Se2 (1337, 8 µg/kg Se) bile 26 i 35 puta veće od kontrole (38, 7 µg/kg Se). Višestruko povećanje koncentracije selena utvrđeno je i u zrnu kukuruza na lokalitetima 2 i 3. Koncentracije selena u zrnu kuruza na tretmanima Se1 (108, 8 µg/kg Se), Se2 (223, 3 µg/kg Se) i Se3 (361, 8 µg/kg Se) na lokalitetu 3 bile su 25, 52 i 84 puta veće od kontrole (4, 32 µg/kg Se), a na lokalitetu 1 bile su 40 (Se1 199, 4 µg/kg Se), 50 (Se2 248, 7 µg/kg Se) i 63 (Se3 309, 1 µg/kg Se) puta veće od kontrole (4, 9 µg/kg Se). Porast koncentracije selena u zrnu soje bio je veći na lokalitetu 3 nego na lokalitetu 1, a u zrnu kukuruza na lokalitetu 1. Folijarna aplikacija rastućih doza selena u obliku natrijevog selenata pokazala se učinkovitom, nije utjecala na prinos zrna soje i kukuruza, ali je rezultirala razmjernim porastima koncentracija selena u zrnu.

DUS ispitivanje provedeno je u Hrvatskoj i rezultati potvrđuju da je sorta različita, ujednačena i postojana.
