Abstract

Mossbauer effect and nuclear magnetic resonance facilitate analysis of the influence of heat treatment on phase compositions of crystallized NdFeB alloys. Nd concentration influences the phase composition. Spectra representing pure bct-Fe3B in the NdF4Fe(77.5)B(18.5) alloy annealed at 839 degrees C expand and distort less than that of bct-Fe3B in samples annealed at 670 degrees C. There are differences in spin-spin and spin-lattice relaxation times.

Abstract

The phase composition of melt-spun Nd-Fe-B with intermediate and high Nd concentrations has been studied by Mossbauer effect. Based on the knowledge of the Fe-57 hyperfine parameters for Nd2Fe14B, Nd2Fe23B3, and Nd1.1Fe4B4, the phases produced during annealing Nd-Fe-B amorphous alloys can be identified. It is found that the NdxFe81.5-xB18.5 samples with 7 less than or equal to L less than or equal to 9 contain the Nd2Fe23B3 metastable phase and the Nd1.1Fe4B4 paramagnetic phase. The body-centered-cubic structure of Nd2Fe23B3 cannot generate the hard magnetic properties. The samples with 12 less than or equal to x less than or equal to 15 consist of the Nd2Fe14B hard magnetic phase and the Nd1.1Fe4B4 paramagnetic phase, The large coercivity for the high Nd content Nd-Fe-B originates from the very fine size of Nd2Fe14B grains below the particle size of the single domain, which may contribute to a pinning effect of domain wall.

Abstract

Intrinsic properties and M?ssbauer effects of the compounds in Sm 2 Fe 17-x Mo x C system were investigated. The substitution of Mo for Fe led to an increase of T c , H A and i H c with a maximum at about x = 0.6. M?ssbauer analysis showed that the Mo atoms preferentially occupied the 18h sites in the Th 2 Zn 17 structure.

39. Mössbauer study of Y2Fe17Nx (x < 3) nitrides

Abstract

57Fe Mössbauer spectra of Y2Fe17Nx nitrides were measured. The hyperfine field (Hhf) and the average isomer shift for Y2Fe17 increase obviously after nitrogenation. Forx≥1.1, however, the averageHhf varies only slightly, while the increase ofHhfat each iron site is somewhat different and more pronounced at 4f dumbbell sites than at the other sites when the nitrogen concentration is increased. This means that the influence of the nitrogen atoms on the local magnetic properties of the iron atoms depends sensitively on the configuration of the nearest-neighbor atoms around the iron atoms. The results are compared with the89Y NMR spectra of Y2Fe17Nx.

Abstract

The unit cell volume dependence of the Curie temperature of Gd2Fe17 is studied by means of high-pressure Mössbauer spectroscopy. From the pressure dependence of the average isomer shift of Ge2Fe17 at room temperature, the contribution of the pure magnetovolume effect to the change of the average isomer shift is derived. By combining the Mössbauer measurements of Gd2Fe17Cx with different C concentrations at room temperature, the change ofIS in Gd2Fe17Cx is dominated by the magnetovolume effect. The contribution of the chemical bonding effect is about 24% of that of the magnetovolume effect, but with negative sign.

41. Structure and Mössbauer effect studies of Y2Sn2-xFexO7-δ pyrochlores

Abstract

Y2Sn2-xFexO7-δ pyrochlores were studied by means of X-ray diffraction,119Sn and57Fe Mössbauer spectroscopy. The single phase Y2Sn2-xFexO7-δY pyrochlores up tox=0.8 were produced by the chemical coprecipitation method. The quadrupole splittings of119Sn decrease linearly with increasing iron content. The57Fe Mössbauer spectra forx=0.6 and 0.8 both are composed of a sextet and two doublets, indicating that some Fe3+ ion environments in the pyrochlores are magnetically ordered. The magnetic hyperfine splitting disappears in the sample withx= 1.0, which contains a second phase.

42. PrBa2Cu3O7thickness dependence of current-voltage behaviors in YBa2Cu3O7/PrBa2Cu3O7multilayers

Abstract

The current-voltage (I–V) characteristics were measured for YBa2Cu3O7(24Å)/PrBa2Cu3O7(12Å, 24Åand 96Å) (YBCO/PBCO) multilayers in the perpendicular magnetic fields H(H| c-axis) up to 10 T. From the analysis of the vortex-glass (VG) phase transition with a transition temperature Tgand a dynamical critical exponent z, it is found that the dynamics of vortex system is influenced by the thickness of PrBa2Cu3O7layers. For YBCO(24Å)/PBCO(12Å) (24/12) multilayers, the I–Vbehaviors can be almost explained by three-dimensional VG transition. While, for 24/12 multilayers the quasi-two-dimensional VG transition leads a reasonable value of z. In the high fields (H> 4T) the parameters Tgand zof 24/24 are similar to ones of 24/96 rather than ones of 24/12. While, they approach to ones of 24/12 when the values of Hare less than 1 T. This behavior is discussed with the current dependence of exponents α in power law (V∼ Iα).

46. Echinoderm microtubule-associated protein -like protein 5 in anterior temporal neocortex of patients with intractable epilepsy.

Abstract

Objectives: EMAP-like Protein 5 (EML5) is a new echinoderm microtubule-associated protein that is expressed in the central nervous system. The aim of this study was to investigate the expression profile of EML5 in the anterior temporal neocortex of patients presenting with intractable epilepsy (IE)., Materials and Methods: Western blot assays were performed to determine EML5 expression in 36 surgically resected anterior temporal neocortices of patients with IE and eight control tissues. Immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence were employed to explore protein expression in IE., Results: EML5 was highly expressed in both neurons and glial cells of the anterior temporal neocortex of IE patients, whereas only low levels of EML5 were detected in control brain tissues. Western blotting showed an enhanced expression of EML5 protein in the anterior temporal neocortex of IE (optical density (OD) = 1.8030 ± 0.1335/1.1852 ± 0.2253, P<0.05) compared with normal control tissues., Conclusion: The results demonstrate that highly expressed EML5 in the neurons and glial cells of the cortex of patients with epilepsy is associated with microtubular dysfunction after frequent and recurrent seizures.

Abstract

Purpose: To construct a dual-promoter expression plasmid that harbors the target gene encoding SBR of Streptococcus mutans and can be applied as DNA vaccine especially suitable for using attenuated Salmonella as delivery vector to elicit effective mucosal immune responses because of its advantage of possessing dual-promoter., Methods: Genes encoding SBR and green fluorescence protein gene (EGFP) were amplified by PCR and inserted to the proper sites of vector pCMVnir. Then IRES sequence was inserted between the genes coding for SBR and EGFP. Furthermore, a DNA fragment encoding tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA) signal peptide was fused to the 5' end of target gene. Thereby, construction of the dual-promoter expression plasmid pCN-SSIE was completed and then the plasmid was analyzed with DNA sequencing and endonuclearase digestion mapping. The expressions of SBR protein by attenuated Salmonella SL3261 and CHO cell transformed or transfected by the plasmid were tested respectively. Finally, BALB/c mice were immunized through injecting intramuscularly with plasmid pCN-SSIE and anti-SBR specific IgG in serum was tested., Results: Both DNA sequencing and endonuclearase digestion mapping showed that the construction of pCN-SSIE was successful with its open reading frame being correct. The expressions of SBR protein in transformed attenuated Salmonella SL3261 and transfected CHO were detected, and anti-SBR specific IgG levels in serum of immunized mice were markedly higher than the control., Conclusion: The construction of the dual-promoter expression plasmid pCN-SSIE was successful and the plasmid can express in prokaryocyte and eukaryocyte and elicit dramatic immune response when applied as DNA vaccine in experimental animal.

Abstract

Objective: To study the anti-hyperglycemic effect and its mechanism of Dendrobium candidum (DC)., Method: Normal mice, adrenaline-induced hyperglycemic mice, streptozotocin-induced diabetic (STZ-DM) rats were used. The mechanisms of the anti-hyperglycemic action were studied with radio-immunoassay, immunohistochemical HRP-SPA stain, etc., Result: DC could not obviously decrease the serum glucose concentrations and insulin levels in normal mice. It could increase serum insulin levels and decrease serum glucagons concentrations in STZ-DM rats. The results of immunohistochemical stain demonstrated that the number of islet beta cells was increased and that of islet a cells was decreased in STZ-DM rats. It could also decrease the serum glucose concentrations and increase liver glucogen contents in adrenaline-induced hyperglycemic mice., Conclusion: DC has obvious anti-hyperglycemic effects in adrenaline-induced hyperglycemic mice and STZ-DM rats. Its mechanisms are stimulating the secretion of insulin from beta cells and inhibiting the secretion of glucagons from a cells, and it can probably decrease the decomposition of liver glucogen and increase the synthesis of liver glucogen.
