In recent years, there has been a considerable amount of research on visual evoked potential (VEP)-based brain–computer interfaces (BCIs). However, it remains a big challenge to detect VEPs elicited by small visual stimuli. To address this challenge, this study employed a 256-electrode high-density electroencephalogram (EEG) cap with 66 electrodes in the parietal and occipital lobes to record EEG signals. An online BCI system based on code-modulated VEP (C-VEP) was designed and implemented with thirty targets modulated by a time-shifted binary pseudo-random sequence. A task-discriminant component analysis (TDCA) algorithm was employed for feature extraction and classification. The offline and online experiments were designed to assess EEG responses and classification performance for comparison across four different stimulus sizes at visual angles of 0.5°, 1°, 2°, and 3°. By optimizing the data length for each subject in the online experiment, information transfer rates (ITRs) of 126.48 ± 14.14 bits/min, 221.73 ± 15.69 bits/min, 258.39 ± 9.28 bits/min, and 266.40 ± 6.52 bits/min were achieved for 0.5°, 1°, 2°, and 3°, respectively. This study further compared the EEG features and classification performance of the 66-electrode layout from the 256-electrode EEG cap, the 32-electrode layout from the 128-electrode EEG cap, and the 21-electrode layout from the 64-electrode EEG cap, elucidating the pivotal importance of a higher electrode density in enhancing the performance of C-VEP BCI systems using small stimuli. Due to the ubiquity of graph-structured data, Graph Neural Network (GNN) have been widely used in different tasks and domains and good results have been achieved in tasks such as node classification and link prediction. However, there are still many challenges in representation learning of heterogeneous networks. Existing graph neural network models are partly based on homogeneous graphs, which do not take into account the rich semantic information of nodes and edges due to their different types; And partly based on heterogeneous graphs, which require predefined meta-structures (include meta-paths and meta-graphs) and do not take into account the different effects of different meta-structures on node representation. In this paper, we propose the MS-GAN model, which consists of four parts: graph structure learner, graph structure expander, graph structure filter and graph structure parser. The graph structure learner automatically generates a graph structure consisting of useful meta-paths by selecting and combining the sub-adjacent matrices in the original graph using a 1 × 1 convolution. The graph structure expander further generates a graph structure containing meta-graphs by Hadamard product based on the previous step. The graph structure filterer filters out graph structures that are more effective for downstream classification tasks based on diversity. The graph structure parser assigns different weights to graph structures consisting of different meta-structures by a semantic hierarchical attention. Background: Perioperative sleep disorders (PSD) are an independent risk factor for postoperative delirium (POD), which is a common complication after surgery. Elderly patients who undergo robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) often experience perioperative sleep disorders (PSD). Dexamethasone, a medication that works by inhibiting the hypothalamic-pituitary-suprarenal cortical axis, can reduce the negative effects of surgical stress. The objective of this study was to determine whether intravenous administration of dexamethasone at the time of anesthesia induction could improve postoperative sleep quality in elderly patients, thereby indirectly reducing the risk of postoperative cognitive impairment and accelerating postoperative rehabilitation. Methods/design: This study is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial that was conducted at a single center. A sample size of 116 patients was determined through calculation, and these patients were randomly assigned to either the dexamethasone group (group D, n = 58) or the blank control group (group C, n = 58). On the day of surgery, the anesthesia nurse prepared either diluted dexamethasone or saline in advance, according to the patient's assigned group. The blinded anesthesiologist administered the medication during induction, and a dedicated person followed up with the patient for three consecutive postoperative days. All other aspects of care were managed equally between the two groups. The primary outcome measure was sleep quality, while secondary outcome measures included postoperative sleep time, postoperative delirium (POD), pain scores, and other complications. Relevant test measures were recorded for analysis. Neuropathic pain is one of the most common conditions requiring treatment worldwide. Salidroside (SAL), a phenylpropanoid glucoside extracted from Rhodiola, has been suggested to produce an analgesic effect in chronic pain. However, whether SAL could alleviate pain hypersensitivity after peripheral nerve injury and its mode of action remains unclear. Several studies suggest that activation of the spinal NOD-like receptor protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome and its related proteins contribute to neuropathic pain's pathogenesis. This study investigates the time course of activation of spinal NLRP3 inflammasome axis in the development of neuropathic pain and also whether SAL could be an effective treatment for this type of pain by modulating NLRP3 inflammasome. In the chronic constriction injury (CCI) mice model, spinal NLRP3 inflammasome-related proteins and TXNIP, the mediator of NLRP3, were upregulated from the 14th to the 28th day after injury. The TXNIP and NLRP3 inflammasome-related proteins were mainly present in neurons and microglial cells in the spinal dorsal horn after CCI. Intraperitoneal injection of SAL at 200 mg/kg for 14 consecutive days starting from the 7th day of CCI injury could ameliorate mechanical and thermal hypersensitivity in the CCI model. Moreover, SAL inhibited the activation of the TXNIP/NLRP3 inflammasome axis and mitigated the neuronal loss of spinal dorsal horn induced by nerve injury. The up-flow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor for treating starch wastewater exhibits poor resistance to organic loading rate shocks and low efficiency in biomethane recovery. This study proposed a solution to address this issue by using oyster shells as an alternative conditioner. Results indicated that the UASB reactor with oyster shells conditioning exhibited a significant increase in methane production from 243 to 435 mL/g-chemical oxygen demand (COD) removed , as the organic loading rate increased from 2.5 to 7.1 kg-COD/(m3·d). This value surpassed that of the control reactor, which experienced a sharp decline in performance. Furthermore, it also exceeded the majority of reported methane yields ranging from 150 to 330 mL/g-COD removed. The pH adjustment and additional supply of carbon dioxide from oyster shells was primarily responsible for the substantial increase in methane production. Moreover, oyster shell conditioning resulted in improvements in specific methanogenic activity, extracellular polymeric substances protection, and settling capacity of anaerobic granular sludge, as well as the enrichment in Methanosaeta abundance, and strengthening of methanogenic functional activity. All these factors contributed to the successful methanogenesis of starch wastewater in UASB reactor through oyster shell conditioning. These findings highlighted the potential of using oyster shells as a favorable conditioner for optimizing UASB treatment of easily acidified wastewater (e.g., starch wastewater), which presented promising practical applications. For a multilayered configuration of SiO2 film created by plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD), the thermal stress and growth-caused stress are two intrinsic stresses. In this work, based on the interactions of all the layers of film, a nonlinearly distributed structural stress over a large substrate is found. The numerical simulations for the nonlinear distribution of the structural stress and the uniform distributions of the two intrinsic stresses are carried out. As a result, the tensile structural stress decreases by ∼4x105MPa from center to edge of a 6” silicon wafer and the compressive growth-caused stress increases by ∼5x105MPa corresponding to the growth-rate increase of 40nm/s, which matches a ∼120MPa distribution of residual compressive stress obtained with in-situ measurements of film samples. [Display omitted] • Utilization of oyster shells to produce CH 4 has never been reported. • Co-fermentation generated CH 4 yield close to the theoretical maximum. • Oyster shells accelerated and intensified methanogenesis steps. • Oyster shells contributed 17% as substrate for the total CH 4 production. • Enriched acetotrophic and methylotrophic methanogens accounted for high CH 4 yield. This study evaluated the effect of oyster shells on the methanogenesis of starch wastewater subjected to over-acidification (pH < 4.5) at low inoculum/substrate ratios, and revealed that oyster shells could be used as co-substrates for methane production. The methane yield was improved by approximate 86-folds with optimal dose when compared with that in control. Oyster shells conditioning synchronously improved the acidogenesis and hydrogenotrophic methanogenesis steps, resulting in high methane production. These improvements were attributed to the fact that the oyster shells served as the neutralizing reagent and buffered the sharp pH drop. Carbon dioxide was also released during this process, which was subsequently converted into methane and contributed 17% of the total methane yield. Furthermore, some spheroid and rod microcolonies were observed on the surfaces of the oyster shells. In recent years, numerous studies on the brain-computer interface (BCI) have been published. However, the number of targets in most of the existing studies was not enough for many practical applications. To achieve highly efficient communications, this study proposed a 120-target BCI system based on code-modulated visual evoked potentials (c-VEPs). Four 31-bit pseudorandom codes were used, and each code generated 30 targets by cyclic shift with a lag of 1 bit. In the online experiments, subjects could select one target in 1.04 s (0.52 s for stimulation and 0.52 s for gaze shifting) with an average information transfer rate (ITR) of 265.74 bits/min. The proposed system achieved more targets and higher ITR than other recent c-VEP based studies. which attributes to the optimal code combination and the 1-bit lag. The results illustrate that the proposed BCI system can achieve a high ITR with a short stimulation time. A total of 240 28-d-old male goslings were used to investigate the effects of cottonseed meal (CSM) on performance, gossypol residue, liver function, lipid metabolism, and cecal microbiota. All birds were randomly allotted into five groups (eight goslings/replicate, six replicates/group) and subjected to a 35-d experiment. Five isonitrogenous and isoenergetic diets were formulated to produce diets in which 0% (control), 25% (CSM25), 50% (CSM50), 75% (CSM75), and 100% (CSM100) of protein from soybean meal was replaced by protein from CSM. The free gossypol contents in the five diets were 0, 44, 92, 135, and 183 mg/kg, respectively. Dietary CSM did not affect the growth performance from 29 to 63 d and carcass traits at 63 d (P > 0.05). Liver gossypol residues were influenced (P < 0.05) by dietary CSM and increased linearly (P < 0.05) and quadratically (P < 0.05) as dietary CSM increased. The malondialdehyde content of the liver was lower in the CSM100 group than in the other groups (P < 0.05). Serum triglyceride and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol were influenced (P < 0.05) by dietary CSM and increased linearly (P < 0.05) with increasing dietary CSM. Dietary CSM altered (P < 0.05) the composition of some fatty acids in the liver and breast muscle. The concentration of linolenic acid and Σn-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) in the liver and breast muscle decreased linearly, but the Σn-6/Σn-3 PUFA ratio increased linearly with increasing dietary CSM (P < 0.05). Dietary CSM affected (P < 0.05) the hepatic gene expression of fatty acid synthase (FAS), acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC), and apolipoprotein B (ApoB). As the dietary CSM concentration increased, the hepatic gene expression of FAS increased linearly (P < 0.05) and quadratically (P < 0.05), but the hepatic gene expression of ACC and ApoB increased linearly (P < 0.05). The CSM diet decreased the relative abundance of the Bacteroidota and Bacteroides (P < 0.05), and the CSM50 diet increased the relative abundance of the Firmicutes and Colidextribacter (P < 0.05) compared to the control group. Overall, these results show that dietary CSM has no adverse effects on the performance of goslings from 29 to 63 d. Background: The nucleotide oligomerization domain (NOD)-like receptor family pyrin domain containing 3 (NLRP3) in dorsal root ganglion (DRG) contributes to pain hypersensitivity in multiple neuropathic pain models, but the function of the NLRP3 in diabetic neuropathic pain (DNP) and the regulation mechanism are still largely unknown. Epigenetic regulation plays a vital role in the controlling of gene expression. Ten-eleven translocation methylcytosine dioxygenase 2 (TET2) is a DNA demethylase that contributes to transcriptional activation. TET2 is also involved in high glucose (HG)-induced pathology. Methods: DNP was induced in mice via the intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin (STZ) for five consecutive days and the mechanical threshold was evaluated in STZ-diabetic mice by using von Frey hairs. The expression level of the NLRP3 pathway and TET2 in DRG were determined through molecular biology experiments. The regulation of the NLRP3 pathway by TET2 was examined in in vitro and in vivo conditions. Results: In the present research, we first established the DNP model and found that NLRP3 pathway was activated in DRG. The treatment of NLRP3 inhibitor MCC950 alleviated the mechanical allodynia of DNP mice. Then we revealed that in STZ-diabetic mice DRG, the genomic DNA was demethylated, and the expression of DNA demethylase TET2 was increased evidently. Using RNA-sequencing analysis, we found that the expression of Txnip, a gene that encodes a thioredoxin-interacting protein (TXNIP) which mediates NLRP3 activation, was elevated in the DRG after STZ treatment. In addition, knocking down of TET2 expression in DRG using TET2-siRNA suppressed the mRNA expression of Txnip and subsequently inhibited the expression/activation of NLRP3 inflammasome in vitro and in vivo as well as relieved the pain sensitivity of DNP animals. Conclusion: The results suggested that the upregulation of the TXNIP/NLRP3 pathway by TET2 in DRG was involved in the pain hypersensitivity of the DNP model. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The fragmentation chemistry of anionic deprotonated hydrogen-deficient radical peptides is investigated. Homolytic photodissociation of carbon-iodine bonds with 266 nm light is used to generate the radical species, which are subsequently subjected to collisional activation to induce further dissociation. The charges do not play a central role in the fragmentation chemistry; hence deprotonated peptides that fragment via radical directed dissociation do so via mechanisms which have been reported previously for protonated peptides. However, charge polarity does influence the overall fragmentation of the peptide. For example, the absence of mobile protons favors radical directed dissociation for singly deprotonated peptides. Similarly, a favorable dissociation mechanism initiated at the N-terminus is more notable for anionic peptides where the N-terminus is not protonated (which inhibits the mechanism). In addition, collisional activation of the anionic peptides containing carbon-iodine bonds leads to homolytic cleavage and generation of the radical species, which is not observed for protonated peptides presumably due to competition from lower energy dissociation channels. Finally, for multiply deprotonated radical peptides, electron detachment becomes a competitive channel both during the initial photoactivation and following subsequent collisional activation of the radical. The human chemokine lymphotactin (Ltn) is a remarkable protein that interconverts between two unrelated native state structures in the condensed phase. It is possible to shift the equilibrium toward either conformation with selected sequence substitutions. Previous results have shown that a disulfide-stabilized variant preferentially adopts the canonical chemokine fold (Ltn10), while a single amino acid change (W55D) favors the novel Ltn40 dimeric structure. Selective noncovalent adduct protein probing (SNAPP) is a recently developed method for examining solution phase protein structure. Herein, it is demonstrated that SNAPP can easily recognize and distinguish between the Ltn10 and Ltn40 states of lymphotactin in aqueous solution. The effects of organic denaturants, acid, and disulfide bond reduction and blocking were also examined using SNAPP for the CC3, W55D, and wild type proteins. Only disulfide reduction was shown to significantly perturb the protein, and resulted in considerably decreased adduct formation consistent with loss of tertiary/secondary structure. Cold denaturation experiments demonstrated that wild-type Ltn is the most temperature sensitive of the three proteins. Examination of the higher charge states in all experiments, which are presumed to represent transition state structures between Ltn-10 and Ltn-40, reveals increased 18C6 attachment relative to the more folded structures. This observation is consistent with increased competitive intramolecular hydrogen bonding, which may guide the transition. Experiments examining the gas phase structures revealed that all three proteins can be structurally distinguished in the gas phase. Ultraviolet photodissociation of peptides followed by mass analysis has several desirable advantages relative to other methods, yet it has not found widespread use due to several limitations. One shortcoming is the inefficiency with which peptides absorb in the ultraviolet. This issue has a simple solution and can be circumvented by the attachment of noncovalent adducts that contain appropriate chromophores. Subsequent photoactivation of the chromophore leads to vibrational excitation of the complex and eventually to fragmentation of the peptide. Herein, the energetics that control the efficiency of this process are examined as a function of the characteristics of both the peptide and the noncovalently attached chromophore. Fragmentation efficiency decreases with increasing peptide size and is also constrained by the binding energy of the noncovalent adduct. The optimum chromophore should have excellent absorption at the excitation wavelength and a low luminescence quantum yield. It is demonstrated that a naphthyl based 18-crown-6 adduct is ideally suited for attaching to a variety peptides and fragmenting them following absorption of 266 nm light. Embryos were exposed to six concentrations of MCPA-Na (0, 52, 54, 56, 58 and 60 mg/L) for 96 h. A series of symptoms were observed in developmental embryos during MCPA-Na exposure, including increased death, hatching inhibited and morphological deformities. Further, MCPA-Na exposure leading to a series of morphological changes (pericardial edema, tail deformation, and spine deformation) in embryos, which were consistent with modifications in the associated genes. In this work, we also investigated the joint toxicity of herbicides (MCPA-Na and cyhalofop-butyl) commonly used in paddy fields on carp embryos, using the 96 h-LC 50 of herbicides (59.784 mg/L MCPA-Na and 1.472 mg/L cyhalofop-butyl) and confirmed that a synergistic effect existing in the binary mixtures. This study investigated the effects of dietary supplementation with vitamin E (VE) on the growth performance, breast muscle quality, fatty acid (FA) composition, and muscle fiber characteristics of geese. In the present study, a total of 240 healthy 29‐day‐old male Jiangnan white geese were randomly divided into six experimental groups, with five replicates in each group and eight geese in each replicate. Group A, the control group, was fed a basal diet; Groups B, C, D, E, and F were fed diets supplemented with 5, 10, 20, 40, and 80 mg/kg VE. After feeding for 70 days of age, one gosling from each replicate was randomly selected and slaughtered to assess the breast muscle quality characteristics, lipid oxidation, FA composition, and muscle fiber characteristics. The results showed that dietary VE supplementation did not significantly affect the growth performance, breast muscle quality characteristics, or muscle fiber characteristics of geese (p > 0.05). Dietary supplementation with 20, 40, and 80 mg/kg VE significantly decreased the malondialdehyde (MDA) content of the breast muscle compared with the control group (P < 0.05). Dietary supplementation with 40 and 80 mg/kg VE significantly increased the retention of α‐tocopherol in pectoral muscle, decreased polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) oxidation, and increased the proportion of n‐3 PUFAs (p < 0.05). In conclusion, dietary supplementation with 5–80 mg/kg VE to the basal diet (VE content of the basal diet: 17.53 mg/kg) had no significant effect on the growth performance of geese. However, dietary supplementation with 40–80 mg VE increased the retention of α‐tocopherol in breast muscle tissue, reduced the oxidation of PUFAs, and increased the content of n‐3 PUFAs. Thus, under these experimental conditions, dietary supplementation with 40–80 mg/kg VE is recommended, which is beneficial to human health. Practical Application: Appropriate supplementation of VE could increase meat quality and the beneficial components in breast muscle of geese. Some studies have suggested heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein A2/B1 (HNRNPA2B1) to be a promoter in cancer development. Nonetheless, no detailed pan-cancer investigation has been reported. Thus, this study explored the possible oncogenic role of HNRNPA2B1, such as its expression levels, gene alteration, protein–protein interaction network, immune infiltration, and prognostic value in different cancer types using The Cancer Genome Atlas web platform. Many types of cancer exhibit HNRNPA2B1 overexpression, which is notably associated with poor prognosis. We also found that HNRNPA2B1 with different methylation levels causes a varied prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD). It is noteworthy that HNRNPA2B1 levels are connected with cancer-associated fibroblasts in cancers, such as adrenocortical carcinoma, LUAD, and stomach adenocarcinoma. In addition, HNRNPA2B1 participates in the spliceosome- and cell cycle-associated pathways. Here we investigate the long-term effects of P4 on the transcription of genes related to the circadian rhythm signaling pathway and hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal (HPG) axes in the crucian carp, which may have a potentially negative on endocrine-disrupting and sex differentiation impacts. Along with the continuous improvement of China's economic level, residents began to pursue high-quality living standards. However, unreasonable consumption patterns and habits caused serious environmental deterioration. Starting from the demand side, the present study explores the influencing factors of Chinese consumers' purchase of energy-saving household appliances, concentrating on the impact of energy efficiency labels on consumer behavior in China. Through combining the Norm-activation Theory model and the Theory of Planned Behaviour model, this study adds information label as the external factor influencing the purchase of energy-saving household appliances according to the research purpose, and analyses the influence of economy and trust on the path of information label. Based on the results, consumers' reference willingness to energy efficiency label information exerts the greatest impact on their intention to purchase energy-saving household appliances, indicating that the guiding role of energy efficiency labels is effective. Nevertheless, the suspicion of label information and economic constraints hinder the conversion from reference willingness to purchase intention. In addition to information labels, consumers' purchase attitudes towards energy-saving products, personal norms and subjective norms significantly affect consumers' purchase intention. Therefore, the current work puts forward relevant policy recommendations on how to promote consumers to purchase energy-efficient home appliances and better exert the guiding role of energy-efficient labels. The global economy has accelerated the transition to a green, low-carbon economy. An enterprise's green innovation (GI) is directly related to its capacity for sustainable production as a micro-subject of economic development. This study examined the impact of managerial capacity on enterprise green innovation and changes of green innovation targeting. We used data collected manually from 423 Chinese A-share companies from 2010 to 2017. The effect of various external impact signals was then investigated. This study's findings are as follows: (1) Managerial ability stimulated green enterprise innovation. The marginal effect was 0.0696. While quality targeting has focused more on green invention innovation, managerial capacity significantly improved the marginal impact of green substantial innovation by 0.0375; (2) The clean production link targeting analysis confirmed that enterprises focused on end-of-pipe governance innovation (0.0466), along with new energy innovation (0.0495) rather than energy-saving innovation (−0.0227); (3) The multi-period DDD (Difference in Difference in Difference) model revealed that low-carbon city policy promoted green innovation with a diminishing trend; (4) The voluntary environmental regulation signals, ISO14001 certification, displayed a substitute effect for managerial capacity on enterprise green innovation. This paper provides recommendations, including that enterprises should improve the utilization of new and renewable energy while improving and optimizing production processes. Objective: This study was performed to evaluate the degree of radiological sacroiliac joint (SIJ) degeneration in patients with degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis (DLS). The related risk factors for SIJ degeneration were also investigated. Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the lumbar and pelvic computed tomography (CT) scans of 303 patients with DLS admitted from January 2018 to December 2021. One hundred and fifty-six age-, gender-, and body mass index-matched patients without lumbar anomality who underwent lower abdominal or pelvic computed tomography scans were included in the control group. Sagittal parameters were measured on full-length lateral radiographs. Two protocols (Backlund's grade and Eno's classification) were used to assess SIJ degeneration. Univariate analysis and bivariate and multivariate regression analysis were performed to identify the factors affecting SIJ degeneration in patients with DLS. Results: According to Backlund's grade and Eno's classification, SIJ degeneration was more severe in the DLS group than in the control group (P < 0.001). Multi-segment degenerative changes (P = 0.032), two-level DLS (P = 0.033), a history of hysterectomy (P < 0.001), lower extremity pain (P = 0.016), and pelvic pain (P = 0.013) were associated with more significant SIJ degeneration as assessed by Backlund's grade. The results of Pearson's correlation analysis showed positive correlation between the sagittal vertical axis and SIJ degeneration (r = 0.232, P = 0.009). The multivariate linear regression analysis showed that a history of hysterectomy was significantly correlated with SIJ degeneration in patients with DLS (r = 1.951, P = 0.008). Conclusions: SIJ degeneration was more severe in patients with than without DLS. Tuberculosis caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis remains a serious global public health threat. Macrophage polarization is crucial for the innate immunity against M. tuberculosis. However, how M. tuberculosis interferes with macrophage polarization is elusive. We demonstrated here that M. tuberculosis PPE36 (Rv2108) blocked macrophage M1 polarization, preventing the cytokine storm, and alleviating inflammatory damage to mouse immune organs. PPE36 inhibited the polarization of THP‐1 cell differentiation to M1 macrophages, reduced mitochondrial dehydrogenase activity, inhibited the expression of CD16, and repressed the expression of pro‐inflammatory cytokines IL‐6 and TNF‐α, as well as chemokines CXCL9, CXCL10, CCL3, and CCL5. Intriguingly, in the mouse infection model, PPE36 significantly alleviated the inflammatory damage of immune organs caused by a cytokine storm. Furthermore, we found that PPE36 inhibited the polarization of macrophages into mature M1 macrophages by suppressing the ERK signaling. Elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) is the leading cause of glaucoma. As glaucoma is an irreversible neurological eye disease, it is urgent to realize timely and accurate IOP detection for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Here, a contact lens sensor for continuous IOP monitoring using self‐assembly graphene (SAG), is developed. The combination of face‐to‐face water transfer printing and micro‐electromechanical systems technology can realize the batch preparation of such a sensor. The sensor has good light transmittance and temperature stability. It exhibits an ultra‐high IOP sensitivity of 1.0164 mV mm Hg−1 on a silicone eye, and 3.166 mV mm Hg−1 in vitro on the porcine eye with remarkable linearity. The sensitivity of the proposed sensor is high enough to be read by a commercial radio frequency identification read–write system for continuous wireless monitoring of IOP. Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis), the causative agent of tuberculosis (TB), remains a formidable threat in mortality and morbidity worldwide. Ethambutol (EMB) is one of the first-line drugs regimens for TB treatment. Arabinosyl transferases are established targets of EMB, which is involved in the biosynthesis of arabinogalactan (AG) and lipoarabinomannan (LAM). Mutations among embCAB operon are responsible for around 70% clinical EMB resistant M. tuberculosis. In this review, we summarised other potential factors associated with EMB resistance via analysing whole genome, proteome and transcriptome of M. tuberculosis exposed to EMB. Reactive astrocytes play a complex role in multiple sclerosis, and the astrocytes reactivity is an important factor in the pathogenesis of pain. It is of great significance to explore the genesis and development mechanism of pain in the early stage of multiple sclerosis (MS) for early intervention of the disease. This study aims to explore astrocyte reactivity at different stages of the experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE) model, a mouse model of MS, and the role of astrocytes in the pain in the early stage of the EAE. In this study, we demonstrated that spinal dorsal horn astrocytes were activated in the pre-clinical stage of EAE mice, and the inhibition of spinal cord astrocyte reactivity effectively alleviates pain symptoms in EAE mice. On the other hand, spinal cord microglia were not directly participated in the early EAE pain. Abstract: Accurate determination of evapotranspiration (ET) is useful to develop precise irrigation scheduling. Although eddy covariance (EC) is a direct method which is widely used to measure ET, its performance in arid region of northwest China is not clear. In this study, ET measured by EC (ETEC) was compared with that by large-scale weighing lysimeter (ETL) during the whole growing season of maize in 2009. Energy balance ratio was 0.84 for daytime fluxes, indicating that lack of energy balance closure occurred, so daytime ETEC was adjusted by Bowen-ratio forced closure method. Compared to the corresponding ETL, half-hourly daytime ETEC was underestimated by 21.8% without the adjustment and 4.8% with the adjustment. Furthermore, nighttime ETEC was adjusted using filtering/interpolation method. Mean error between half-hourly nighttime ETEC and ETL decreased from 30.2% without the adjustment to 10.3% with the adjustment. After such adjustment of day and night measurements, daily ETEC was underestimated by 6.2% compared to ETL. These results indicated that the adjusted ETEC well matched with the ETL. Moreover, the discrepancy of adjusted total ETEC and ETL was decreased to 3.2% after subtracting the overestimated ET by lysimeter resulting from irrigation and heavy rainfall events. Thus, after appropriate adjustments of observations, eddy covariance method is accurate in estimating maize ET in the arid region of northwest China. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The crystal structure of the copper complex has been determined by a single-crystal X-ray diffraction method, and shows that the CuII atom is bonded to a tris(N-methylbenzimidazol-2-ylmethyl)amine (Mentb) ligand and a 2-methacrylate molecule through four N atoms and one O atom, giving a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry (τ = 0.78), with approximate C3 molecular symmetry. Cyclic voltammograms of the copper complex indicate a quasireversible Cu+2/Cu+ couple. Simple Summary: The poultry industry faces challenges such as a shortage of protein feed and increased feed cost. Compared to soybean meal, rapeseed meal (RSM) is a cheaper protein source that can be used in poultry diets. China is both the largest RSM and geese producer in the world. Therefore, the active use of RSM for geese diets can contribute to the development of poultry production. We found that geese had a good adaptation to the diet containing 16% dietary RSM through the investigation. The use of inexpensive nonconventional feed materials, such as rapeseed meal (RSM), could help alleviate the shortage of feed materials in the poultry industry. This study was to investigate the effects of dietary double-low RSM on growth performance, carcass traits, serum parameters, and intestinal development of geese. A total of 270 healthy 35-day-old male Jiangnan White geese were randomly divided into five treatments, with six replicate pens of nine geese each. The geese were fed five isonitrogenous and isocaloric diets containing 0%, 4%, 8%, 12%, and 16% RSM replacing dietary soybean meal for 35 days. At 35, 49, and 70 d, the BW and feed intake were recorded. All Samples were collected at 70 d of age. The results showed that dietary RSM up to 16% did not affect the BW, ADFI, ADG, and feed/gain ratio (F/G) during 35 to 49 d, 49 to 70 d, and 35 to 70 d periods (p > 0.05). At 70 d, no difference was observed in carcass yield or serum biochemical parameters among groups (p > 0.05). Dietary 12% and 16% RSM significantly increased the concentration of serum GH compared with 0%, 4%, 8% groups (p < 0.01), but serum TSH, T3 and T4 were unaffected (p > 0.05). The relative weights of heart, liver, spleen, proventriculus, gizzard, and small intestine were similar among groups (p > 0.05). However, the geese fed dietary 16% RSM had greater bursa of Fabricius than geese in the 8% group (p < 0.05). Intestinal morphology was unaffected by treatments (p > 0.05). Phage therapy, especially combination with antibiotics, was revitalized to control the antibiotics resistance. Mycobacteriophage, the phage of mycobacterium with the most notorious Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis), was intensively explored. A novel mycobacteriophage SWU2 was isolated from a soil sample collected at Nanchang city, Jiangxi province, China, by using Mycolicibacterium smegmatis (M. smegmatis) mc2 155 as the host. Phage morphology and biology were characterized. Phage structure proteins were analyzed by LC-MS/MS. The putative functions of phage proteins and multi-genome comparison were performed with bioinformatics. The transmission electron microscopy result indicated that this phage belongs to Siphoviridae of Caudovirales. Plaques of SWU2 appeared clear but small. In a one-step growth test, we demonstrated that SWU2 had a latent period of 30 min and a logarithmic phase of 120 min. Among the 76 predicted Open Reading Frames (ORFs), 9 ORFs were identified as phage structure proteins of SWU2. The assembled phage genome size is 50,013 bp, with 62.7% of G + C content. SWU2 genome sequence shares 88% identity with Mycobacterium phages HINdeR and Timshel, differing in substitutions, insertions and deletions in SWU2. Phylogenetic tree revealed that SWU2 is grouped into A7 sub-cluster. There are several substitutions, insertions and deletions in SWU2 genome in comparison with close cousin phages HINdeR and Timshel.
