Introduction. Career adaptability has been recognized as one of the skills needed to face changing needs in the world of work. This study is increasingly interesting from the perspective of instilling career adaptability in a vocational university environment. The importance of mastering career adaptability has been established, but the interaction between predictors such as work-based learning factors, curriculum relevance, university support, career self-efficacy has not been well-defined. This study aims to investigate the role of work-based learning, curriculum relevance, university support, and career self-efficacy on university students’ career adaptability. Materials and Methods. We involved 476 vocational students from universities in Indonesia and Malaysia. The data analysis used structural equation modelling (SEM) to test direct and indirect effects of career adaptability. The study utilizes the Amos 18 software for SEM analysis. This study used 200 bootstrap samples and a bias-corrected confidence interval of 90% to analyse the mediation role. Results. The study results reveal that work-based learning, curriculum relevance, university support, and career self-efficacy directly influence the career adaptability of vocational students. Another finding is that career self-efficacy was proven to mediate the effect of work-based learning and university support on vocational students’ career adaptability. Career self-efficacy does not mediate the effect of curriculum relevance on vocational students’ career adaptability. Discussion and Conclusion. The results of this study provide important implications for vocational education practitioners to promote career adaptability in the university environment through various work-based learning programs, curriculum relevance, university support, and career self-efficacy. Also, the result will guide the ongoing WBL curriculum review and improvement in Malaysia and Indonesia.

Co-gasification contributes significantly to the generation of hydrogen-rich syngas since it not only addresses the issue of feedstock variation but also has synergistic benefits. In this article, recent research on hydrogen concentration and yield, tar content, gasification efficiency, and carbon conversion efficiency is explored systematically. In feedstocks with high water content, steam gasification and supercritical hydrothermal gasification technologies are ideal for producing hydrogen at a concentration of 57%, which can be increased to 82.9% using purification technology. Carbonized coals, chars, and cokes have high microwave absorption when used as feedstocks. Moreover, coconut activated carbon contains elements that provide a high tan δ value and are worthy of further development as feedstocks, adsorbents or catalysts. Meanwhile, the FeSO4 catalyst has the greatest capacity for storing microwave energy and producing dielectric losses; therefore, it can serve as both a catalyst and microwave absorber. Although microwave heating is preferable to conventional heating, the amount of hydrogen it generates remains modest, at 60% and 32.75% in single-feeding and co-feeding modes, respectively. The heating value of syngas produced using microwaves is 17.44 MJ/m³, much more than that produced via conventional heating. Thus, despite a lack of research on hydrogen-rich syngas generation based on co-gasification and microwave heating, such techniques have the potential to be developed at both laboratory and industrial scales. In addition, the dielectric characteristics of feedstocks, beds, adsorbents, and catalysts must be further investigated to optimize the performance of microwave heating processes.

The goal of the study is to investigate the ideal equivalence ratio of a three-staged gasifier for municipal solid waste (MSW). The study has been performed using ANSYS Fluent simulation and has been confirmed by experimental results. The study was conducted using the properties of MSW tested and collected at Putri Cempo Landfills Surakarta. The Equivalence Ratio (ER) was divided into 0.2, 0.3, 0.4, and 0.5. These four values of ER were further divided based on three air inlets across the reactor, resulting in a total variation of 35 ER arrangements. The study shows that the effect of dividing air inlets throughout the reactor was positive across all parameters such as Carbon Conversion Efficiency (CCE), Syngas Temperature, Cold Gas Efficiency (CGE), and Tar content. The best cold gas efficiency and carbon conversion efficiency were calculated at 43.27% and 85%, respectively. The highest quality syngas outlet temperature was recorded at 807°C. Tar reduction was prominent in ER 0.5, with the lowest recorded tar content of 78.14 ppm. However, the arrangement of ER 0.4 with the best syngas quality showed the lowest tar content across all ER 0.4 arrangements and an acceptable amount of tar content at 97.83 ppm. - Abstract
Powder addition reinforcement (PAR) has shown its ability to enhance the mechanical properties of polymers prepared with fused filament fabrication (FFF). However, this technique was less reliable owing to the frequent printing failures caused by nozzle clogging. In this research, a novel delivery method for Fe3O4powder was introduced and coupled to the FFF process for preparing PLA/Fe3O4composite. The tensile and flexural properties of the resulting composite were then determined. The result showed that the addition of Fe3O4powder increased both the tensile and flexural strengths of the composite. The highest strength of PLA/Fe3O4composite was obtained in the specimen with 1 wt% Fe3O4powder content, where their tensile and flexural strengths increased by 59.92% and 53%, respectively, with the addition of such amount of powder particles. However, higher powder contents led to deterioration of the composite strength. The microstructure of the composite apparently showed that the presence of Fe3O4powder yielded a less porous structure in this material and improved the bonding between the printed rasters and layers within the composites, thereby enhancing their tensile and flexural properties.

The low vocational competence of vocational teachers has become an essential issue in the last few decades. This problem is due to the lack of actual work experience in the industry for vocational teachers. One of the vocational skills improvement programs that are considered adequate is the industrial apprenticeship program. Many studies discuss apprenticeships, but there are still limited studies that examine effective apprenticeship programs to improve the competence of pre-service teachers at automotive engineering Vocational High Schools. Therefore, this study aims to determine the development of a Work-Based Learning (WBL)-based industrial apprenticeship model and its effectiveness to improve the competence of pre-service teachers at Vocational High Schools in the field of automotive engineering. This study uses an Education Research and Development (R&D) approach and involves two campuses in Central Java-Indonesia. There were 20 pre-service vocational teachers and three industry parties involved in the preliminary study. The preliminary study aims to obtain information about the problems and needs of the apprenticeship model. Furthermore, there were 60 pre-service vocational teachers and 12 industry parties involved in a follow-up study to test the effectiveness of the apprenticeship model. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling. The study results revealed that the WBL-based industrial apprenticeship model for pre-service vocational teachers in the automotive engineering field was considered feasible. In addition, the implementation of a WBL-based industrial apprenticeship can improve the competence of pre-service automotive engineering teachers, which includes knowledge, attitudes, and skills in the field of automotive engineering. The results of this study have implications for vocational education practitioners, especially higher education that organizes teacher education programs, to apply this apprenticeship model in preparing pre-service vocational teachers. This is because the WBL-based industrial apprenticeship model for pre-service vocational teachers plays a vital role in improving vocational skills for pre-service vocational teachers.

Background: Various water-borne diseases have been seen in developed and developing countries, like Coliform bacteria in food and drink due to their poor making. Objective: This study aims to estimate the hygiene factors and examine the content of Coliform bacteria and in Thai Tea drinks in Yogyakarta Municipality. Methods: A cross-sectional method was used in all Thai Tea product sellers in Yogyakarta Municipality from September to November 2020. A total of 30 sellers were included, and 30 different types of Thai Tea products were tested using the Most Probably Number (MPN) method at the Health and Calibration Laboratory Center, Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Descriptive statistics, Chi-square, and Fisher exact test were used for data analysis. Results: Laboratory tests showed half of Thai Tea products contaminated with Coliform bacteria more than MPN/100ML. Of all Thai Tea sellers, about 83.3% of them were never hygiene food sanitation training. Findings also show that the seller's hygiene sanitation was significantly associated with the existence of Coliform bacteria in Thai Tea (Crude OR=0.44, 95% CI=0.20-0.98). The sellers with poor sanitation facilities were four times more likely to have Coliform bacteria in their Thai Tea products (Crude OR=4.0, 95% CI=1.41-11.35). Meanwhile, hygiene food sanitation training and location of selling did not have a significant relationship with the presence of Coliform in Thai Tea. Conclusion: In sum, the existence of Coliform in Thai Tea drinks in the city of Yogyakarta is influenced by the hygiene sanitation and sanitation facility. Training on personal hygiene for each seller is necessary to obtain Thai Tea products that contain Coliform bacteria according to standards. This is very useful to do to reduce food-borne disease. The installation of aerodynamic devices, such as rear wings with the application of a Gurney flap, is very important to improve the performance of vehicles and can generate downforce and reduce slip when a car turns and brakes. The goal of this study was to determine the aerodynamic characteristics of the addition of a rear wing using an Eppler 423 airfoil, which was applied with a Gurney flap featuring variations in the angle of attack and the height of the Gurney flap. The rear wing was mounted on the Ahmed body with a rear slant angle of 15°, which is similar to the configuration on a fastback type car. This research was conducted by 3D modeling through computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation using ANSYS Student R18.2 by using ahmed body design. There are three variations in the angle of attack for the rear wing (0°, 7.5°, and 15°), as well as five variations in Gurney flap height of 0%, 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, and 2% for the chord-line length. In this study, the best variation was found at an angle of attack of 15⁰ with a height of 2% C. From this configuration improved CL/CD ratio by 25.36% when compared to the results without a Gurney flap.

Improvement of material properties is achieved by controlling parameters involved in the solidification process; therefore, understanding them and their implication are essential. This work investigated the dependency of solidification parameters (cooling rate (TR), growth rate (VL), local solidification time (tSL), temperature gradient (G)), microstructure parameters (primary (λ1) and secondary (λ2) dendrite arm spacing), and micro-hardness values (HV) of Al-4.5wt.%Cu in the clay mold. The samples were directionally solidified in Bridgman vertical apparatus and the temperature is recorded during the cooling. The solidification parameters were obtained from the cooling curve. The microstructures and micro-hardness were characterized using an optical microscope and micro-hardness tester. The microstructure parameters were measured and plotted as functions of solidification parameters using linear regression. The relation between HV and microstructure parameters are analyzed. The results show the λ1 and λ2 change inversely with solidification parameters except for tSL. Comparison to other works shows the exponent values of solidification parameters of the clay mold are lower than that of the carbon and stainless-steel mold. The exponent value of λ2 in the clay mold is -0.183, close to the value in the graphite mold. The clay has the potential as mold material since it characteristic close to the graphite.
